First time going on Monday and it was AMAZING! Inside was very clean and great atmosphere. We didn’t have a reservation but not a lot of people and they said it was fine . Got seated and had a very nice waitress. Our app. Was the dumplings. Very good . Our dinner was great! They give a good portion of rice and fresh Romain lettuce if you want to make lettuce wraps with your food ! Which I thought was a great.
I was even impressed with silverware options even chopsticks that weren’t wood ones . Tried their galaxy lemonade recommended by the waitress we had . So freaking good! We Left full and happy.
Me and my boyfriend are already making plans on when to come again.
Thanks for an amazing experience
And thanks to the cooks for a great meal !
David
This place is awesome..
First of all, for the quality and portion.. So underpriced.
I brought my family from Korea and they really loved it to a point that they said they would recommend it.
The drinks were so fancy yet so well crafted.
Chef Mike is like such amazing cook, every food was on point and we were so sad that some of us couldn't finish the food.
The servers are so attentive and nice too. I'm definitely bringing all my friend here.
Thank you for an amazing time for my family!!!

Apparently I’m a Korean food purist. I like what this place is doing and the food was good, but I’d prefer something more original.
Our server was fantastic!
I found the vibe itself lively and it had an overall fun atmosphere. I’d probably go back.

This is a cute quiet restaurant. When you first walk in there's a full bar (it was so cold I forgot to take pictures 😩 please forgive me). You walk up a few steps into the dining area. I love the atmosphere. It's not too bright, so it's easy on the eyes. The decoration on the walls are very nice as well.
We sat down in a corner towards the right. That area was pretty much empty.. It soon got crowded but that was okay. Seems like a popular restaurant. It was mine and my coworkers first time there. A cute waitress by the name of Fiona helped us. Fiona seemed really nice. She took her orders and soon left. I can tell that she wasn't very familiar with the Korean dishes, but that's okay.
Our dishes came relatively quick. The food was pretty amazing. My friend ordered the pork belly. And Fiona brought out some traditional side dishes to go with the pork belly. The side dishes were red leaf lettuce and a couple of sauces. One sauce in particular is called Samjha in Korean. Fiona said it was called Sam. Perhaps that's what they call it here at Char'd. No biggie. Maybe they do things differently. Nevertheless, it was tasty.
Soon after that's when we realize that either Fiona was very busy or she just wasn't very attentive. I would have gave the restaurant a five stars but we could barely get a Fiona. If the hostess didn't come to refill the waters then we would have gone thirsty. I asked Fiona in the beginning if they had Korean tea, and she responded yes. I asked her if it's oloong tea or another type of Korean tea. She didn't seem to know, but did say it was Korean. I ordered it. When it came I found out that it was just green tea 😐. I would have never ordered it if I had known it was green tea.
All in all I give the restaurant a four stars. Perhaps after a while Fiona will get up to par. It was even hard to get our checks to pay at the end. We ended up getting two separate checks and we were charged the wrong items. It's okay to forget. After she dropped off the checks. Checks. She said if the items were wrong she would change it. But she left so quickly that I wasn't even able to utter a word. She did that all night. It was a little annoying. Because we felt like we were not important. Now the other waitresses came to their tables like four to five times. But they cater to their own table so it was hard to even mudder a word to them as well.
I ordered the soft tofu soup, a side of kimchi and my friend ordered the pork belly and all the dishes were delicious. Delicious. The soft tofu soup had calamari, zucchini, mushrooms, onions amongst other small vegetables.
I highly recommend this restaurant. Please check it out. ☺️😝

Nice spice level in the items marked as spicy. The KFC wings and dumplings were awesome. The pork bulgogi was tender and spicy. Everyone enjoyed their meal.

Great atmosphere. Friendly, quick service. Scallion pancakes (w/ seafood) were some of the best we’ve had. Delicious melt in your mouth pork belly. Everything we ordered exceeded expectations. We’ll definitely be back.

This is a great spot! My husband and I enjoyed all of the food - but especially the appetizers. The sauce used in the shishito cauliflower dish made it stand out as our clear favorite. However, if you do not enjoy spicy food I do not recommend it. The garlic chili shrimp also had great flavor and it was not quite as spicy. We also enjoyed the kfc wings. All three of these appetizers were delicious, largely due to their A+ sauces.
The vibe is a trendy one. This spot would be good for a meet up with friends or date night. If you have time, I recommend also swinging by the upbeat cocktail bar next door, Tied House Milwaukee, for drinks before or after your meal. They have an awesome patio in back and a good selection of drinks (ranging from fun cocktails to beer and wine.)

The interior is really modern. The staff was really nice, and the menu isn’t huge but the options were pretty good. I got the spicy braised pork rib which came out on a sizzling platter but was somehow still cold…and not the least bit spicy. The veggies were cooked through underneath the ribs, but the meat was room temperature and dry. The appetizers stole the show, honestly. Overall, I would definitely go back to give it a second chance, but the only reason I give this place 4/5 stars is because the staff was super friendly and the restaurant itself, along with all the details, were pretty nice.
Jennifer Wagner
Food was very good but meals were brought out at separate times (at least 5 minutes between each - the meals ordered). Same thing happened with our desert order. Dumplings were amazing. Dessert was unique and good.
Daniel Kim
New to Milwaukee and couldn’t find a Korean restaurant. But I’m glad I found this restaurant. I usually order the Spicy Chicken and it comes with dumplings, lettuce wrap, and some sauces.
Would say it’s a little bit pricey for the portion but it’s worth the price. But I mean with inflation - maybe it’s not so bad bc every restaurant is dealing with price issues.
Would definitely recommend this place! The food is pretty authentic in terms of Korean food and its not like Asian fusion type of food. FYI: this restaurant is much better than Merge (another Korean restaurant in Milwaukee).
Sarah
We went for the first time recently and loved all the food! We had the scallion pancakes, dumplings, bibimbap, and pork belly entree. The apps came out fast and were amazing!! I especially loved the pancakes. The entrees took a little long (but there were multiple large groups celebrating different occasions that night). They were both delicious! The bibimbap was stuck to the bottom of the pan a little bit and the pork belly was tender but just a tad dry. I wonder if the entrees sat under the heat lamp a little too long before coming to our table. Still an overall great experience though, and we would go back!!

I came here with my parents, and we love it! We sat at the bar, and Fame took amazing care of us! I definitely recommend sitting at the bar to have her as your server/bartender. We just ordered drinks but we will definitely be back for food!

Really delicious food, generous portions, and great atmosphere. We met up with a friend and started with soju and their spicy fries for the table. My fiancee got the beef bulgogi and I had the spicy chicken, which I didn't get a picture of before I dug in because it just smelled so good, luckily she got a photo of the bulgogi. Would recommend, bring your appetite!
Matt Krueger
Char'd was darn good had the korean fried chicken and char'd dumpling apps. I also had the pork bulgogi. My mom had the leeky chicken
Amanda Battaglia
The food here is always fresh and so good! I got the beef bulgogi & it comes with rice and lettuce to do a wrap. The side of veggies are great too. It's the perfect balance of flavors.
I love that they have allergy information in the menu so it's a great place to take friends or family who are allergic to certain items. The croiffle for dessert was fun too!
Lydee Suzette
This was my first restaurant visit in 3 years in my city. After the pandemic hit and the world reopened. I got cancer and have been on lockdown. I'm better and have clearance to live my life. It was so great to get this freshly made food and have the dining out experience again.
Jason
This was a surprising nice place. I'm not surprised it was good, I'm surprised just how good the food was! We got the sishito cauliflower appetizer and I had the squid. It was all very well seasoned. The wait staff was awesome. Very comfortable place with delicious food. Looks great for a date night for some adventurous eaters.
Justin O'Rorke
Second time here and this place was amazing! We ordered the kfc wings and dumplings (not pictured) for appetizers and the pork bulgogi and beef bibimbap. Food was delicious and hot. Despite being busy, our waitress was attentive and friendly. My only issue is that the restrooms didn't look like they have been cleaned or attended to in a long time and some of the glassware was chipped.
Dan Schley
The food is excellent. We had a group of 12 and the server managed it wonderfully, keeping us on schedule to get to the theatre on time. I love the long group table down the middle of the room!
Lauren Haydon
A much needed addition to the Milwaukee dining scene! Excellent cocktails, good atmosphere, and the food was top notch. I will be dreaming of the kimchi fried rice for a while and the pork bulgogi was perfectly cooked.
Katya Kaminska
Fantastic spot to try and enjoy Korean food! We ordered Shishinto cauliflower and fries to start with and they were excellent! Bibimbap as main was delicious and very filling. There were 5 of us and all of us enjoyed the food very much! Thank you for a lovely atmosphere and great service!
Meilani Cervantes
Always such a good meal here. Along with great customer service. The soft tofu stew is my current fav, so flavorful and the right amount of spice. KFC wings and the scallion pancakes are also delicious. Can’t go wrong stopping at Char’d.
Thank you always!
Mitch Conklin
Food was good, but service from the bar was slow. The main issue is the lack of cleanliness. The place needs a deep cleaning and then regular cleaning to maintain it. Dirty lights, long dead flowers with dirty water at the hostess stand, outdoor planters as dividers in the dining room filled with dead plants and cheap silk flowers, and no towels in the bathroom after telling the hostess three times. A shame to see the Hinterland space looking like this. There are lots of dining options in Milwaukee. Get it together if you want to stick around. Nothing would make me happier than to see them turn it around and revise my review!
Wing McCallister
Went in to celebrate a successful convention with friends. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, which is always a plus. The kitchen also produced some delicious meals. I have had a lot of ribs in a lot of places in a lot of different styles, and I am hard pressed to remember a time that I had better ribs than the half rack I got at Char'd. The meat practically melted off the bone, and the spice level was perfect.
Of course, whatever you get during your visit, pair it with a croiffle! The croiffles, people! The croiffles! Croissant-Waffle + Ice Cream = the exclamation point to your dinner!
Steven & Salina Woodring
beef bulgogi very good, mixed veg brussel sprouts undercooked, zuccinni was cooked perfectly. squid and pork shoulder squid was tasty, but pork shoulder had alot of fat on it. same problems with the veg. the kimchi on the plates wastasty and spicy.
the bar servers were fast and efficient and very personable.
Lukasz (Luke)
Love the food here! My very first time at s Korean BBQ, and I really had a great experience. My dumplings were delicious and my pork belly tasted amazing! Very reasonably priced and friendly service. I would definitely recommend!
K The Foodie
This place is BOMB. The decor is hip, trendy and very Green. The service is great and the food is DELICIOUS. We literally ordered every appetizer and we (group of 11) moaned our way through it all. The highlights for me were the KFC - Korean Fried Chicken, the kimchi fries, and the Galbi! The Kombucha Mule was yummy and so was the Galaxy lemonade. I've been to South Korea 3 times... this place is so authentic and DELICIOUS. I wanna go back and I just went!
Yoyo Chang
This place was very busy when we came in for our reserved table. We had to wait a little while to be seated but it was ok because they said they wanted a clean table for us.. so that’s good. The food is good. I liked my dish a lot. I had the braised belly dinner. The pork belly melted in my mouth. The portion was ok for it being around $17 not including taxes & tips. With tips and taxes, you’re looking at around $21 for that plate. Our waiter was very attentive.
Sungchun Park
Thank you very much! I ate really well today. All the staffs were great and the food was so delicious and great. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas!
Adrielle Szerbat
My experience here was great. They have taken traditional Korean dishes and simplified them to the point where any common person can understand what they are ordering. Very nice environment. The food was presented amazingly and tasted amazing as well! Gluten free options were plentiful. 10/10 would reccomend. I spent 30$ total. That included the meal, a side, dessert, and tip. Well worth it. I thought it would've been more expensive for what I got. So so worth it, I'll definitely be coming back!
Otis Gordon
Galbi is in cubes, which is interesting, but surprisingly tender and with the lettuce … oh lord yessir Jesus thank you. Don’t rlly recommend the shishito cauliflower. Soon tofu is also aight; but not enough tofu. Still good vibes tho cmon let’s go Wisconsin!
C H
Sad they raised their menu prices recently but I love their spicy squid so much. As somebody who moved from IL where korean restaurants were plentiful, I’m glad Milwaukee at least had Chard (though it’s technically a bit fusion styled…)
Elyse Weitzman
So yummy! Cauliflower is bombbb (delicious peanut sauce); Good portion size - very full from 1 entree and 2 shared plates between 2 people. Pleasantly spicey, for someone who enjoys a kick. If you don't like spice avoid the spicy symbol!
San Jay S
Not sure why someone will not like this place. We only ate vegetarian dishes and they were all good. The kimchi salad was crunchy and fresh. The bowl of veggies with tofu was awesome. Overall- great place.
JerBear117
My first visit to Char'd was well worth it! Started off with a warm Ginger Hot Toddy to wash down the beautifully grilled Perilla Avocado and topped it all off with the Beef Bulgogi dinner. I devoured it all! Definitely will be going back to Char'd to try the rest of the menu (and the drinks)
Dan Profio
Food was fantastic, our server was very friendly and attentive. Never knew this place existed and wound up having an awesome Friday night.
Kathy Smith
We ate at Char’d recently and our group of five had nothing but raves for the food and the service! I can’t wait to enjoy it again the next time we are in Milwaukee.
Sally Whitmore
20/10. One of my new favorite restaurants in Milwaukee.
Decor is amazing, service was attentive and eager to share things about the restaurant.
Drinks that we had were very good.
Ssam CAN NOT BE PASSED UP! Get it! Get all of it! We got the beef and it was just out of this world. The marinade on the meat was so so good, the ssam sauce is a little smoky but you can add to your liking, kind of like a lettuce wrap taco.
We also got the dumplings which were huge! We were told that the starter plates were about half of an appetizer but the dumplings I would say are definitely appetizer size.
For two people, the dumplings and ssam was the perfect amount of food.
Everything about this place was awesome and I cannot wait to go back!!!!

1/19 update: The menu has expanded since my first visit and there are many additional vegetarian and vegan options on the menu! Love everything about Char’d!
The vegetarian options are lacking but the mushroom super bowl was above and beyond my expectations. I ordered it less than enthusiastic about the few vegetarian options offered but I was not disappointed and pleasantly surprised. Will definitely be back for more!
Lee Johnson
Good drinks, very nice bartender.
I had already eaten dinner elsewhere, but the food I saw others get looked amazing.
Ratnashree Biswas
I had the kimchi fried rice. It was awesome! Highly recommended 😊
Cacia Speckhard
Everything we ate was amazing! They knocked it out of the park. My husband finished his pork ribs in the blink of an eye, I looked up and they were gone. We will be dreaming of the spicy chicken wings tonight. Looking forward to going back!
Kaylib Berkshire
Would absolutely recommend! Went there for lunch. Ordered the pork and kimchi bowl. Tasted great. Service was friendly, if a little laid back. Good all around selection.. I am very eager to try their dinner options.
Yoon Soo Park
Super tasty Korean food. Highly recommend!
Nick Hanke
This is the best Korean food I have had since actually being in Korea. Not only is the food amazing to the staff is great also.
Mathias Fischer
Everything was great. Timely and attentive service and perfectly prepared food. The drinks were amazing and the atmosphere was fun but restrained that we were able to hold a conversation at a normal speaking volume.
I will be going back again and again.
Diamond Cole
Great experience. Cool trendy dimly lit atmosphere with interesting servers. Thumbs up on the food.
Mai Der Yang
Chic, modern, delicious Korean food! I ordered the Kombucha Mule which tasted exactly like what it said it would and the Spicy Beef Soup. I was worried it was going to be a little salty, but it was perfect! I love spicy food so it was great for me. I loved the purple rice that came with my entree. And I did taste some of my friend’s food. Some dishes are a little sweet, but nothing was overpowering. Overall, the food was amazing.
The service was also outstanding! My group and I were almost 20 minutes late to our reservation and they still gave us the best of everything. We also wanted to surprise one of our girl’s with a cake that we got for her birthday and our hosts were more than glad to help with that too. They helped light our candles and brought it out at the end of our dinner. Loved it! Definitely would come back for the food and vibe.
Doris Fonseca
We were the first order if the day and it was very obvious. We got dumplings and the meat was cold in some and they were lukewarm in general.
Wings were okay very sugary in taste.
Ribs were yummy. This is a Korean restaurant accommodating to its neighborhood since we asked for the spiciest sauce they had and it was ketchup like.
Definitely with one try but that's it.
Mary Schaer
First visit to Chard and what a delightful surprise. Our waitress, Sue was very friendly and informative. The food was delicious.I ordered Beef bulgogi, our grandson had the spicy squid and the rest of the family sampled other dishes. We all were very happy with our choices. The desert is not to be missed. It is a piece of waffle with vanilla or mocha ice cream. We will return.
linda corrigan
The subtle twist on Korean food was interesting. Some of the items we tried were good (the dumplings) and some were disappointing (scallion pancake was just okay and there was hardly any meat in the beef bulgogi), but I'm willing to give it another try because there are so few options for good Korean food in Milwaukee!
Cloud C
Food was pretty good. Got the braised pork. Atmosphere is nice.
Charles Yang
Best Korean food that I’ve ever had by far! Keep up the good work.
Abigail H.
Our service was great, our waitress offered great suggestions from the menu and was fully engaged with our table. The food was delicious. I recommend the KFC wings and spicy pork dumplings for apps.
Sarah Streicher
Totally recommend. This staff was very attentive and the food was absolutely delicious!
L Ross
Amazingly good food! Spicy (but not overly) with spectacular flavor. Bar staff makes beautifully crafted drinks and serves with a smile...in spite of working non-stop. We sat at the bar (full menu) and wouldn't hesitate to do it again!
Octavio Rivera Jr
Have this place 5 stars because the food, service and drinks were phenomenal. Highly recommend it
Andrew David Greer
Great food but service was slow and the dishes came out in a way that someone was always waiting.
Erika Her
Delicious and one of the best spots for Korean food in MKE! We went in at 7:30 and was seated immediately. The restaurant was pretty busy too! Our waitress took our order quickly and food was served promptly despite how busy it was. We probably waited about 20 mins for the appetizer and a total of 25-30 mins for the food. Everything was delicious and well worth the price. Our waitress was probably serving 5-6 other tables and she always made sure to check in with us and refill our drinks. Super impressed with the service and food! Been wanting to try this place out ever since they opened and finally had the chance to. Would highly recommend!
Kaitlyn Turner
Chef Mike is like such amazing cook, every food was on point and we were so sad that some of us couldn't finish the food.
Carolyn Sandvick Ship
Truly one of the best restaurants in Milwaukee! Love that it’s small, intimate and quiet enough for great conversation. Food was INCREDIBLE. Perfect for a few quick appetizers or a full sit down meal. We will be back very soon, can’t wait to bring our friends.
Stefano Peralma
Very fun and intimate dining experience with lots of good food to try.
Bill Wagner
Delicious Korean food, generous portions and great soju cocktails.
Stephanie Martin
Char'd was a delightful experience. They have a great list of cocktails, a small but nicely curated wine list, and a good number of local WI beers on tap. We got the dumpling appetizer and it was phenomenal- it's marked as spicy on the menu, but I don't think it would be too spicy for folks who walk on the mild side and it comes with a delicious creme fraiche dipping sauce in case you need to cool things down.
For dinner I got the beef bulgogi and my husband got the spicy chicken. Both were also excellent, and I particularly liked that they were served with lettuce leaves so we could roll our own lettuce wraps. All in all, it was a fabulous date night.
Jennifer Bennett
The Galbi short rib dish is to die for. My husband and I will definitely be back!
Kate Mackay
Really good food! I had the Glass Noodles with tofu and they were extremely tasty. I also had the Galaxy Lemonade which was also very good. Highly recommended.
Michael Lenczewski
Oh I wish I had photos. They were great. I tried at least four dishes and three appetizers... Pork belly, beef stuff, chicken wings... Something with squids and shrimps
..
Taylor Anglin
This was my first introduction to Korean food and it was just ok so far. The service was bit slow, but the waiter was nice. Also, the food was kind of pricey for the amount you received. Anyway, I only tried a couple things so I would give it another chance. I tried the kfc wings, scallion pancake with seafood, croiffle and the galaxy lemonade. The kfc wings were good, but I was expecting more spice and a little bit more flavor. I did not care for the scallion pancake at all. Some of the scallions were burnt and I think the seafood made it mushy in the middle of the pancake. The croiffle was really good, although I was expecting it to be a bit larger. I got to small pieces with a little scoop of ice cream. Lastly, the lemonade was ok. It looked pretty, but I wished it was a little less sour. Overall, I would go back to try other things on the menu. And I would get the croiffle and kfc wings again.
Kellie C (mke_kc)
Service was friendly. Flavors were fine. Despite being literally the only table there for quite awhile and plenty of visible staff, our dumplings were cold. I realize that more bread if offered, right on the menu (but not the happy hour version) with the avocado, but 3 slices of bread on which to eat an entire avocado seems out of proportion.
Nelson Grihalde
The Cauliflower appetizer was awesome along with the dumpling Gyozas.
I got the Bulgogi and enjoyed it thoroughly.
Service was prompt and accurate.
Overall I can recommend this place if dining in Milwaukee but prices are slightly higher than what you would pay in Korean Town in Chicago Niles and Morton Grove ,Glenview area.
victor Florez
Great spicy squid and Korean fried chicken wings
Ali B
In a world that's been opening up after Covid, I've noticed some problems with staffing/service at other places, but not here. The service was friendly and prompt, the food was delicious and the drinks were inventive (peanut butter jelly old fashioned and Galaxy lemonade!). I would be so excited to return here and try more of their dishes.
Mitch Writt
I highly recommend the Char'd dumplings as an appetizer!
J0sephine Lee
I came here for my birthday back in July, 2018. I called ahead and they accommodated 25 people. They are fairly new (almost a year old now) and I think this was one of their first times hosting a huge party, but they were amazing! Food came staggered, but we knew what we were in for with such a large group. Service was awesome. Food tasted AMAZING. I was given a complimentary birthday dessert. It was a low key time with good friends and fantastic food. I highly recommend eating here because they treat you like good friends.
Aditya Karandikar
Exquisitely prepared meal from start to finish. Visited here for the first time for dinner during Downtown Dining Week and was impressed with the appetizers, main courses, and desserts. Regular prices are definitely not as modest as those for Downtown Dining Week though they are certainly not unreasonable considering the quality and ambiance. Would recommend to someone looking for a more upscale, trendy experience to have Korean BBQ.

Char’d is a Korean restaurant in the Third Ward area, specializing in Korean staples and a special Sunday menu.
Food: We did go on a Sunday, to see the difference between weekly and special menu. The difference is that we were given 4 small sample plates of appetizers with our meal. All for were very different, but good none the less (kimchi, eggplant, seaweed salad, etc…)
We started with the cauliflower shishito pepper appetizer, which was very good and nice size for an app. For our main dishes, my wife got the Beef Bulgogi with the lettuce wraps, and I got the Spicy Chicken with the lettuce wraps. Both dishes were very good. The chicken wasn’t very spicy, so don’t let it detour you from getting if you aren’t into spice. Getting it with the lettuce wraps made it much lighter (than if you did it with rice) and very fresh tasting. Size of the dish was decent for the price. You won’t have leftovers, but you won’t leave hungry either.
Atmosphere: Very cute bar, and the dinning space is a decent space too. They also seemed to have a side room for bigger parties. Also, really cute succulent section off to the side.
Service: Server was nice, however messed up one of our meals. That said, she was quick to fix and very kind about it.
Overall: 8/10. Cute spot, small but concise menu, and a nice bar/waiting area before the meal. Should you be looking for Korean food in Milwaukee, I’d definitely add it to the list.

Ordered an alcoholic beverage that was on a kiddie sized glass. And it wasn't full. The price....$18. Never again.

Cute space, good food and good service
Rebecca Payne
The food was absolutely delicious. My friend and I decided we MUST go back so we can try everything on the menu. The Sunday specials were fantastic. Between the two of us, we had the Galbi Tang (beef short ribs soup), beef fried rice (both of our favorites) and the char'd dumplings!
Phil Smithback
Cauliflower was a standout; everything else was decent, but I found some of the vegetables to be overcooked, and some of the sauces were a little more ginger dominant than I really wanted.
Martha Yang Vang
The food was delish! Our server was amazing! There were about 20 of us and they treated us with patience and care! Thanks a million!
Robert Holt
Food was all very good, portions were small for the price though.
But what really turned us off was how rude the hostess and one waitress were, not to patrons, but to the other staff.
We sat at the bar after the hostess told us she couldn't seat us at any table because she had a few reservations that were in over 2 hours. Then every time the one waitress came to the bar she was a complete jerk to the guys working at the bar.
But it all tasted great.
Jack Borgo
I want to be optimistic that Char'd will stay in business because the food was delicious and the servers/host were friendly, but my god is the kitchen and bar slow. When we arrived, the restaurant was 60-70% full...it took 25 minutes to make two cocktails, and then another 40 minutes to get our appetizers. Then our dinner arrived at the exact time as our appetizers. Another couple went to Char'd and had a similar experience.
Hopefully the owners/managers read the reviews on their business. They've got a solid product but with so many other quality options in the city there's no way this place will last if the operations continue to be substandard.
Mayaserena Her
We had the sizzling seafood soup and the marrow & ribs. The food was yummy but the portions are small for the price. Just these two entrees were $70+ and barely fed two people. I was mainly impressed by how tender and soft the ribs were.
All in all, I’m glad I tried this place but I probably would not come back here. It’s not authentic Korean food - Seoul or Stone Bowl would be better places if you want authentic. The restaurant is beautiful and the food is good but you’ll get more food in a more authentic style for a better price at other places.
Miraj Patel
The location is beautiful, and the ambiance is as lovely. I brought a friend here who was visiting from out of town, and we were lucky enough to catch the happy hour before it ended. First and foremost, we were seated immediately, and the waiter was very attentive to our requests. Secondly, the edamame with garlic chili was AMAZING! As an Asian and a big spicy eater, both my friend and I were pleased with how spicy this seasoning was, and we could not stop munching away at these! Also, I highly recommend the Kombucha Mule, SO DELICIOUS! We had dinner reservations elsewhere, so I can't elaborate on their main entree options, but I am looking forward to visiting Char'd again soon! You will not regret visiting this restaurant!
Christina Dinur
Food was really good, ambiance pleasant, service also good.
Docking one star because the website advertises a Sunday special menu with combo items of a main dish + soup for $18. But, this is not the menu they're currently offering in the restaurant on Sundays. We went last Sunday and found that the prices are significantly higher, with entrees around $16 and soups a separate $9-$10 - there's no combo for $18. Char'd needs to update their menu online so patrons don't feel misled when they arrive at the restaurant and see much higher prices.

My office was here last night for Happy Hour. We had a wonderful time!!! The 2 Ladies that were tending bar were awesome!! They made sure we were not empty. The drinks were interesting, creative, and well priced. The music was nice. Loud enough to hear, but low enough for us to talk and engage each other. The decor and atmosphere was nice and welcoming. Great place to be !!!
Steven Schmelzling
Excellent dinner. Enjoyed the happy hour options including the edamame, fries, and cauliflower. Then had the super bowl and a pork tofu entree. Loved the atmosphere and the great service. Try the mule.

I came here with my sisters. We sat at the community table with other people, as we didn't make a reservation. The community table offers discounts though and encourages you to make friends with your neighbors which is nice. All in all, the plating of the food was beautiful but it was on the sweeter side. We had gotten the bulgogi, korean fried chicken, and kimchi poutine fries and my sisters ordered drinks. The drinks were strong but nonetheless good. I had high hopes that the korean fried chicken would be similar to Bonchon chicken in terms of crunch but it was pretty disappointing in that aspect and it was too sweet. The bulgogi was really good though and the kimchi poutine fries were a bit unique, as the gravy and kimchi together was sort of an acquired taste for me. All in all it was a bit pricey for the small amount of food provided but I understand it's in a nice classy area. I probably wouldn't come back here myself but it was a good experience!

Had wonderful food and service when we came here. Joining the community table for a deal on drinks is a nice touch. There were so many delicious looking items on the menu I will most definitely have to go multiple times in order to experience this restaurant fully. Striking, yet inviting ambiance that teeters near the edge of fancy. Presentations were simple yet beautifully prepared. Prices are fair given the quality of food you are eating. You're in the third ward after all!
Andrew Kozlowski
Everything was delicious. I would recommend the kimchi disco fries, the dumplings and the KFC wings. Our server's name was Sue and she was fantastic. We're recommending this place to everyone we know and will 100% go back.
Dave Jenkins
Love this place.. very high on the list of options when I come to the city
Cami Shendez
Came back for dinner this time, and everything was AMAZING again! Their dinner menu is pretty extensive with lots of innovative small plates to grilled meats on hot stones that really elevated the whole dining experience. Cocktails were also interesting and delicious (get the Far East and Yuzu Beez!) So so good - my fav restaurant in MKE.
Nice patios outside with bunch of different seating options in their lounge. I stopped in for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the nice interior design and interesting menu. I had their real fruit mango smoothie which was refreshing, and their chicken panini and it was delicious! Lunch prices were so affordable and a great value for its quality. Prices ranged around $7-$13.
Can’t wait to come back to try their ramen!
Werner Holentunder
This was my first time at a Korean restaurant. The food was delicious and great service!
Larissa Amar
Finally got to try this place after hearing raves from others and I absolutely LOVED it!! Inside of the restaurant is just gorgeous, with cool lightings and pops of greens throughout. The nice decor definitely put me in a good mood to start.
Now on to the food, my family got bunch of plates to share among. I liked how they were coming out paced, so that we could thoroughly enjoy each dish one by one. The wings were definitely a crowd pleaser, and so was the kimchi poutine. We got the galbi and pork ssam, the kimchi fried rice and black bean noodle for our mains. Everything was presented beautifully and they all tasted SO good!! Yes, I thought the price was not on a cheap side at first, but i mean not all Asian restaurants have to be cheap. Char’d delivers some high quality food in an elegant space. I thought the price matched their food and service.
I’ve been to many Korean restaurants when I was in NY, so I know what a typical one is like. This place does not resemble any of those eateries. Char’d seems to be more on high-end, with reasonable prices, and you can tell by their menu, that they are not about serving traditional Korean classics. Their menu instead experiments with Korean culinary techniques and recipes to create something original. They intentionally puts their own spin into traditional Korean dishes, and I think they are doing a pretty good job with it. I am excited to see this type of modern cuisine added to the food scene in Milwaukee. This means you don’t need to like Korean food to like this place. Just try if you like to eat creative, tasty food!
Oh, and don’t expect free side dishes here. There’s no need to. Since when did it become a rule to serve freebies at restaurants?? Sure it can be a plus factor, but should never be a minus.
Ivan Drury
Upscale Korean food, nice atmosphere. Amazing pork ribs! I highly recommend. Don't freak because no side dishes and no kimchi...just get the pork ribs, that's the most important thing to take away from your reading this review. Restaurant is tucked away, get a reservation...you will not find pork ribs like this in any other Korean restaurant in milwaukee, literally. Service is fine. A larger alcohol menu than your average Korean restaurant...
Kimberly Lowe
Service, atmosphere and cocktails were excellent. I wasn’t as thrilled with my entree as I was with the small plates (Kimchi Poutine and Beef Tartare were pretty good). This is a great place to get a quick bite and a cocktail before or after a show, but you might want to call ahead

Sunday Special was very, very good. At $18 per person it is a steal. This is pretty darn authentic Korean food, even if they do call it New Korean. I had spicy beef soup, which was served so hot I had to stir it a lot, blow on it and wait until it cooled down. The flavor was funky good, and the ton of chili flakes made it VERY spicy - which I love. My pork bulgogi was probably the best I've ever had. My dining companion had the Korean miso soup and beef bulgogi, both very tasty, especially the bulgogi. All this was accompanied by 4 side dishes. The seaweed with tofu was unexpectedly my gave. If you are an adventurous eater, don't miss Chat'd!
Leila Sahar
The food here was really great. And the servers did everything they could to take care of us. Unfortunately, the kitchen and bar were very slow. It took a really long time to get our drinks and appetizers, so the main course came out before we could finish the apps. We gave them the benefit of the doubt since it seemed like a really busy night. But we ate dinner on the later side for Milwaukee and as tables began to clear out, it didn't really improve. We'll definitely be back, since the food was so good. Hoping the slow pace was just a fluke.
mark foster jr
Server was personable but the place seemed short staffed. No manager presence seen. Food was good but not as great as I was expecting. Loved the pork belly on my pork belly entree but was not thrilled that the dish was served deconstructed. I would go back but probably not on a weekend night
Gemma Tolabing
Good atmosphere, food was good but small portions for the price.
Linda Xiong
The place has been only opened for 2 weeks now and my first time going there with my girlfriends, the service right away was welcoming. It is self-served! The place is really aesthetic, the store manager was really talkative and welcomed us very well. I got the Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) & the Chicken Ramen (more on the spicy side) but still delicious. Recommend coming here! Oh, they also serve coffee & tea so it can also be a cafe too!
Sarah Curry Link
Went here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and we really enjoyed our food and drinks! We opted to go the tapas route (they also have an "entree" section) and ordered the Char'd Dumplings, Bok Choy Stir Fry, Kimchi Disco Fries, KFC Wings and Scallion Pancake. Everything was really yummy, with the dumplings, wings and pancake being my top 3 favorites of the night. The bok choy stir fry felt a little hard to eat (I accidentally splattered some of the stir fry sauce on my shirt because it was hard to pick up with either chopsticks or a fork) and we both thought it would have been even better had there been some additional vegetables or even a side of toasted rice along with it - there was a lot of stir fry sauce leftover in the bok choy dish. But not a big deal at all, just an observation. All in all, a delicious dinner.
Thomas Ostergaard
This is the best korean food you'll get in Wisconsin, without question. The dumplings are moist but not too sticky, the KFC is crunchy and juicy with plenty of zip. The pork belly melts in your mouth, the steak bulgogi is tender and slightly sweet. The kalbi stew is hot and hearty on a cold day. The restaurant itself is tastefully decorated in woods, black metals and brass accents, with cream city brick exposed at some walls. Service is attentive and helpful, if you're new to Korean food. Highly recommended for everything from meetings to family gatherings to date night.
Meghan “iceonfiremeg” Hilliard
Ordered yukgae jang to help kick my cold to the curb and it was perfect. Not as much beef but tons of healthy fernbrake, onion, and other healing veggies. Bulgogi is fantastic, wings are large, and the pot stickers were amazing. Nice to have S Korean flavors, but not as good as mom's.
Nate Schultz
Great food. Nice old building. Good wait-staff. Overall positive experience.
Michael McCormick
We were expecting a more traditional Korean BBQ but this place does a great fusion take on Korean BBQ. Drinks were terrific and many choices on drink menu. Korean ceviche was delicious with the chilled quinoa. Pork belly lettuce wraps were outstanding and Korean paella surprised as a fun dish similar to bi bim bop. Will definitely come back.
Amanda Mitchell
Had a great time at this place. Drinks were delicious, service was pretty quick, and the food was awesome. We ordered tapas to share. I recommend a reservation so you don't end up at the community table unless you're into that!
Yuun M.
Great service, nice decor, good food. Prices were reasonable but please note that we were there for their lunch menu. Enjoyed the KFC wings and the bulgogi bowl. Kimchee poutine... wow. So good.
Even their frappes were fantastic. Would go again but cannot speak to their dinner menu.
L P
This place doesn't have Korean food, it has Korean fusion food. There is a major difference. The food is fine, but after the third visit I realized how sweet everything is. Pretty much every dish tastes sweet.... They don't have the banchan for free like most traditional Korean restaurants. And the service is just meh... It wouldn't kill the host to be a little more friendly.
Scott Fitzgerald
It came in a small cast iron pan thing (sorry, I'm not a chef, and not sure how else to describe it) rather than the usual Korean stonebowl. I got the spicy sauce, and it was delicious! I wish it came with more beef, but really can't complain. To be honest, I would probably order it without the beef next time and use the $3 on something else.
Coronado Bros
The beef bulgogi & kimchi beef fried rice was the perfect blend of sweet and spicy Korean food.
10/10 would recommend. They do change their menu often.
Dumplings and chicken wings are good appetizers.
A Ci
The food was alright. I definitely had better. I was surprised there wasnt any side dishes (kimchi, cucumbers, pickled radish, etc) with the korean plate that we had. I thought it would be more authentic. Service was fine. Very clean and very pretty.
Gilbert Gomez
Everyone at my table loved their plates and so did I except for one thing (chard dumplings). While the food was yummy, it was a bit rich. The decor is 3rd Ward at its finest. Get the wings!
Corey Nettles
Decor/ Ambiance: 5. Nice jazz music in a cozy industrial space ( imagine that oxymoron ). Bar seating for lunch or hi top bar seats at the window.
Food: 4.5. The bulgogi bowl is delicious, it did not need any spices added. The kimchi was also tasty, but a bit small of a portion for the price.
Service: 3.5. This really had nothing to do with the wait staff, they were great. It was difficult to understand how the ordering worked at first, as they have you line up to put an order in, but it's not very apparent that's how it works. Inthink a slip of paper you mark would work beter than a single tablet
Otherat the end of the bar. Customers looked a bit confused in line as well during this process. Also they have you pay first, and getting flatware and water is self serve. I waited a while before I figured that was the case. The staff was great, I think maybe a bit more coaching by them to the customers on the unusually for America service setup would be helpful
Overall I think this is a great spot to relax and have a bite, but there are still some opening kinks to work out. I'll feeling it's a 5 star now that I know about the idiosyncrasies of the service.
Alex Kostal
Great food, great atmosphere. Our server was a taller African American man, very courteous and polite. Recommend the KFC wings and the bulgogi! Cool interior, would definitely be back!
M
The food was excellent. The environment is great (location as well). I suggest getting the Koren Chicken wings. The fries are killer as well!
Andrew Webster
Food was delicious if pricey and service was solid. Highly recommend the Kimchi Rice and Spicy Pork and Squid.
Fergus Earberry
The dumplings came out right away which was a dead giveaway that they'd been already made and sitting out and when we bit into them they were lukewarm. The dumplings had a nice crunch to them but they just tasted like fried dumplings that were doused in sweet and sour sauce.
Gustan Cho (Gustan Cho Associates)
Opens at 1130 but food was great. Short ribs was tender
Christina Megal
Wonderful fresh food with excellent flavors. Enjoyed the heat of the dumplings.
Kristopher Feavel
Cocktails were good, but food was very meh. Got the chicken wings and the short ribs. Wasn’t impressed with either. The Kimchi fries weren't too bad.
Marylou Lamonda
Food was delicious, service good. Please Stop putting straws in water and drinks. Most people don't need them. Let folks ask. Nothing tastes better in plastic!
Be lake friendly please and stop using plastic.
Monica Keith
Food was great and the place is really neat and nice.
Andrea Gonzalez
This is honestly some of the best food I've ever eaten in my life. Delicious! Fast, friendly service. Food looks exactly as pictured. Can't say enough great things!
Lindsey Roddy
Very good food! We really liked the cocktails, the uniqueness of the different beverages was hard to choose from. The atmosphere is warm and inviting.
Lucy Wilhelms
Good atmosphere, great drinks, and innovative menu. Dishes range from traditional to unique. While I miss the restaurant that used to be in this location, Char'd is a worthy replacement.
Tyler Coady
Great atmosphere and excellent location near Summerfest grounds. Our service was excellent, the food was amazing. We will be returning!
Mitch Dobberpuhl
The food saved this rating. Everything was tasty and filling. The service was so slow. Restaurant wasn’t even full. Drinks took 30 mins. Staff was nice but the wait for our orders was a downer.
michael saldana
Great food and good customer service. I like how it was very clean and our food came out fast too. Very happy will be back!

Cindy Lee Hopper
Oh, what a Great place to eat!!! The food was Excellent. Spicy, but not too spicy. The service was Wonderful.

Jackie Edwards
Pretty restaurant. Yiu don't need to really dress up, we overdressed. Not the biggest portions. Old-fashioned drink wasn't as good as others in the city
Mark Jaffee
Worth every burn
Edit 5/28: the food/atmosphere/service is 5 stars but be careful with cast iron / hot stone plates. Half our table left with burns like this one
Ross Workman
Great happy hour specials. The bibimbap was excellent--as were the dumplings. Classy spot.
Rachel Kathman
The food is beyond delicious and reasonably priced! Love it and can't wait to order again.

Their food was alright, but I think every menu item was overpriced by about $5.

I was a little worried after reading some reviews about timing since we had theatre tickets, but that fear was laid to rest quick. Our server greeted us with a friendly smile, took our drink and appetizer order, and returned with our drinks promptly. The app came out beautifully presented in a timely manner as did our entrees. Food was great as was our service and also the service I witnessed at other tables
Las Varantina
I have to say hands down one of the best Korean restaurant 🫶🏻. Enjoyed every single bites of the food. It’s a cute date spot for couples as well as friends gatherings. The vibe is chill and cozy, plus the staffs are also very friendly. Can’t wait to try their scallions pancakes next time !!! …
Art3mis
The atmosphere was trendy and clean. The food was great! The best food we had there included the KFC wings, pork bulgogi, and japche (Korean glass noodles). The kimchi was flavorful and spicy. We thought the scallion pancakes, bibimbap, and dumplings were pretty good too. I didn't care for the galaxy lemonade, but it was really pretty and had a nice presentation. We had a really good server, Shannon, who was nice and attentive and made sure we had enough room on the table for all the dishes we ordered. We ordered too much food, but we wanted to try everything and we were okay with having delicious leftovers. Definitely will go back! Reservation needed.
