The owners and the staff were friendly. I went with my colleague and her friends. They offered many complimentary food since my colleague’s friends are students. We had multiple food items which were really tasty 😋. We had food multiple times during our stay in Milwaukee downtown. I would recommend the place for the quality, price and the service. The price is very less compared to the other places. This is a not big restaurant rather a small eating station with few tables. This is a self service restaurant. I will really go back to this every time I feel to eat Indian food.

I don’t usually post on reviews or anything but I just had to. First time going there. From where I was born in England there would be Indian restaurants around every corner.since I moved to America it’s been really to hard to find something with good prices and taste. I can finally say I found one. The food was really tasty, great flavour. The price for what I got was pretty good. Can’t wait to go back again. Definitely something I will tell everyone about it

My first time tasting Indian food and I must say I really enjoyed that! The butter chicken was tender and tasty, the variety naan bread was great! Loved the samosas and the mango drink was everything!!! Only thing I didn’t care for, but my kids liked it, was the desserts balls (forgot the name). I’ll definitely be back for more and can’t wait to try new items 😋

Nice place, food was good, seems like the prices were raised due to COVID and inflation. We ordered a Chole-Bhature and Non-veg Thali. They should increase the quantity of the food for the amount they are charging. Overall, it was good. Restrooms were clean.

Great selection of all the Indian favorites. We got two orders of Samosas (4 total), 2 butter chickens and 1 curry chicken then took our food to Paliafito Eco-Arts Park just a few blocks away and devoured it. It was all hot, fresh and very delicious! The sweet sauce and green chutney provided with the samosas were both exceptional.

A group of 6 friends and I got dinner here and couldn’t have had a better experience! The manager gave us generous trays of rice and garlic naan for us and were so kind. They also gave us an extra butter chicken. He checked in on us multiple times to ensure we were enjoying. Definitely recommend!

Amazing!!! Catered for my office lunch and the food was delicious and amazing. Beyond that, service was top notch, Rocky helped with setting up the order and when I came to pick up had it set up in a hot box so the food would stay amazing between the drive and the office while it was sleeting out! Definitely amazing food and the service knocks it out of the park and will be back again To try more of their awesome food!

Never disappoints. Freshly made dishes. They even accommodated our special request and made a custom dish for us. It can get busy, so expect a wait during peak times, but that’s a sign of a great restaurant, right!?

THE BEST INDIAN RESTAURANT! Prices are pretty good and everything are so delicious! Rakesh is such a amazing person and always get everything right! All the kitchen staff is amazing. Try the fried cauliflower gobi manchurian! Its amazing! The butter chicken also is very good!

Happy with my first experience here. Ordered takeaway at the restaurant and it wasn’t too long of a wait despite other customers also waiting. Good food portions, reasonable prices considering the pandemic situation, and staff were working hard. Special #1 was a great introduction & variety for those newer to Indian food. Will be back!

Ordered Indian food for the first time and chose this place. My boyfriend and I loved it. I got the Butter Chicken and my boyfriend got Chicken Curry. They were both so flavorful and delicious. Also good portion of a side of rice, enough for two people. The Roti bread was also amazing.

Popped in for quick lunch to go, ordering the Samosa Chat and Lamb Biryani. The food was delicious with lovely textures and a pleasant heat that built. Servings were generous, making it a great value. Excited to return and try other dishes!

Indian food catering to the american palate. Somewhat pricy. Excellent volume of food. Went with an indian friend looking to eat an indian cuisine in Milwaukee. Food was good to me, but was noted that the cuisine was actually subpar, if an authentic experience is what you are looking for. Lacked spices and flavor, dishes were modified to cater to the american tastes and style. He suggested to tip, so that they may afford a better cuisine. I, however, tipped because I still liked the meal. Not sure what I ordered, but you cannot go wrong with chicken

The staff truly cares about your experience and they know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about, and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. I’ve tried a few Indian restaurants in Milwaukee and Cafe India is hands down my favorite! The food is always hot and super flavorful! Lots of vegetarian and non vegetarian options. Seriously everything I’ve ever had out of here has been so good! Don’t be fooled by this small location, the food is great! Definitely recommend the chicken tikka masala, Chana masala, and don’t forget the naan! Try this place out, you won’t be disappointed.

The food at this joint exceeded expectations. The chicken biryani was tasty. Mango lassi which we ordered would be strongly recommended to anyone visiting this restaurant. The non veg thali was exceptionally good as well. The food was economical and delicious. Would definitely be back to this restaurant for Indian cuisine, when visiting Milwaukee again.

First time customer. The Shahi Paneer I ordered was the best I've ever had. There was some confusion with Uber Eats, so I went to pick the order up myself. The owner or manager - not sure which - gave me my Naan for free for my troubles. Wonderful experience!

I love this place. Where we live, we have to drive at least an hour and a half to get good Eastern Indian cuisine. However, sometimes I get to travel to Milwaukee for work. I try to stop here for Supper on the day I head home, and bring some to go orders home for the family. Excellent food and service. The prices are reasonable too.

Excellent and delicious food, probably the best Indian restaurant in the city. We had them cater for our housewarming and the staff made the process very smooth, from the phone order, suggesting ideas, to picking up the food in a hot box. Everyone loved the food. We also order take out from time to time. Great staff, wonderful food.

I travel for work frequently. I also love Indian food, because I’ve vegetarian, and it’s always guaranteed to have plenty on the menu to choose from. I initially ordered from DoorDash the first night I was staying downtown for work; I ordered Paneer Masala and Naan. The paneer feels fresh and squeaky, like they use local paneer. The spices and quality of ingredients is incredible. The naan is mildly sweet and chewy, and so buttery. Long story short, I ordered again the next night, again from DoorDash. Tonight, the third night here for work, I tried to order from DoorDash again, but we worked later and the restaurant was “closed” on DoorDash. This place was so good that I called in an order, hopped in the car and drove down to pick up my dinner. If you like Indian food, try this place. While I can’t speak for anything on the menu except for Paneer Masala, I am willing to bet anything you get from Cafe India will be incredible. Not only was the food delicious, but the employees were friendly and fast.

We have tried 4 or 5 Indian restaurants in Milwaukee and this restaurant is my favorite takeout. We won't go back to the other ones. It smells amazing when you walk in and the service is consistently good. We get Butter Chicken (best ive had) and their Lamb Masala, sometimes the vegetable special. Always fresh herbs and creamy sauces. I am impressed every time and I highly recommend this place!

Never ever dissatisfied. The best Indian food for a reasonable price...if it were physically possible, I would give this place a really big hug. Also, this location is more consistent with their dishes. Not to say the other location is bad, but I still prefer the one here on 1st street. I drive 45 minutes to eat here. It's totally worth it.

I work at a studio across the street and I am a consistent customer at cafe India. I have to say their food is so amazing! I also had a party catered by them and it was the hit of the party! Everyone loves the food and the spice level was perfect for everyone! I wouldn’t recommend any other place to cater your parties, seriously the best! The environment of cafe India and wonderful they have a tv usually playing music videos which I love to watch while waiting for my food. Amazing food! I wish I could give it ten stars!! I recommend the buffet if you don’t know much about Indian cuisine. If you’ve never had an opportunity, this is a great place to try this culture’s food. The staff is very attentive when you eat in, and there is constant entertainment in true Bollywood fashion. Rocky came through when we needed him at a moment's notice! My workmates, friends and I have always enjoyed eating lunch at Cafe India, so when a different restaurant fell through on a catering order, we decided to give Cafe India a call. Suffice it to say 40 teenagers and adults were content and full with the banquet they prepared. The food selections were ALL top notch...meat dishes, vegetarian and vegan, and the price cannot be beaten! Food was hot and he lent us an insulated keeper to make sure all of the trays were piping hot upon our arrival! Rocky and his staff were polite, fast and efficient and they even sent us packing with some extra treats! Great guy, great restaurant...and now add...great catering! We'll definitely keep coming back. Both Indian cuisine aficionados AND noobs were pleased.

Cafe India’s lunch special is outstanding. It’s an opportunity for you to try several Indian dishes at once instead of ordering a large portion of only one dish. The staff is friendly and often recognized their repeat customers. The lunch special is only available Monday through Friday and until 3:00 so it was a special treat to be able to go because I usually work during that time!

This is my favorite restaurant in all of Milwaukee. It's been recently remodeled and although small, the owners and employees are absolutely amazing. The food is ALWAYS AMAZING. Although this location is very casual, there is a more formal location in Bay View, on KK. The food tastes the same in either location, but I personally prefer the 1st Street spot. The daily vegetable special is different every day, but I order is every single time I go. And I've never been a huge fan of eating my veggies. The samosas are my favorite appetizer and I never leave without extra dipping sauce!

I eat here fairly often for lunch and it's one of my top choices for lunch specials. $11 gets you a full to-go container of food with a drink and sometimes a dessert. Not to mention the food is really good! Don't be alarmed that it's in a gas station. You will be more than full and your tongue will be happy!

I asked for Butter Chicken, the owner suggested Punjabi Butter Chicken - it was out of this world delicious. The chicken was tender, the butter chicken gravy was decadently tasty, and the spicy aroma made my meal with two Tandoori Rotis absolutely divine. Rakesh Rehan, the owner was kind enough to explain the dishes to me, offered great service, and I ended up taking half the dish back to my hotel - the portions are very generous. Hands down, the best place to grab a bite. My food was even tastier than what I have tried in Chicago.

Ate here for the first time last Friday, had the lunch buffet with chicken tikka masala, the lamb, and the chicken curry. Thought it was a good deal to include a soda and a big piece of naan. It was a lot of food and tasted good going down. However. Middle of the afternoon I started to experience what can only be termed "severe gastric distress" including many rushes to the bathroom. What followed was awful...had to bring garbage bags with me for the ride home as I was so nauseated. Went straight to bed and, except for rushing to the bathroom many many times, stayed there for about 14 hours. I have had food poisoning once before and this was as bad as I remember. The place seems popular enough, but I will never eat there again. I don't know if this was an isolated incident, but forewarned is forearmed. * * * * * Update 4-18 Based on co-workers experiences I went back a while after my initial post. The food was really very good, especially for the price. It has over the past two years now become a once-a-week lunch stop for me. Wednesdays feature a cauliflower vegetarian dish which is truly wonderful, even though I usually avoid cooked cauliflower. My rating has been adjust accordingly.

My company ordered lunch from here and we were VERY happy with how the manager Rocky handled our time restriction for a early lunch meeting. He had our food delivered 15 minutes after they opened 11:45am (which is at 11:30am). The food was amazing and delicious! Thank you Rocky again for accommodating us!

I can't say enough amazing things about Cafe India and Rocky. My friend drives for Postmates and had to pick up the butter chicken dish for someone. She told me that the food smelled so good in her car that she had to return and try it herself! She returned for herself, told me how it was, and now I have been going on the weekly basis for the past couple of months! I always order the butter chicken, rice, and garlic naan. That's my go to dish. It taste so good that I am too afraid to try anything else. I call in my order and always speak to Rocky. When I arrive the food is always hot and fresh and the portion sizes are enough for 2 people. They will customize your order and make your food more mild or more spicy if you ask! The naan pieces are huge and the rice is seasoned so well with herbs. I look forward to coming to Cafe India once a week and catching up with Rocky who is so sweet and always gives me complimentary dessert! He rocks (non pun intended)!

I work dangerously close to Cafe India on 1st Street and it is one of my favorite lunch spots! People think I'm crazy the first time I take them there, but they never leave disappointed. The food is awesome! The owners make sure everyone is satisfied. They are very generous with their portions--which is especially great if you have a favorite item or two, like I do The chicken tikka masala is a staple in my lunch box! I also get the palak paneer all the time now-- it's a delicious spinach and cheese item. I totally recommend this place to anyone who likes Indian food or who wants to try Indian food.

Cafe India in Walker's Point is located in a gas station strip mall. It's a great place for takeout or, when it's not a pandemic, a quick lunch. I recommend garlic naan and Palak/Saag Paneer, which we think is their best dish.

CAFÉ INDIA IS OUR FAVORITE AUTHENTIC INDIAN FOOD IN MILWAUKEE. And I’m not just saying that. I’ve been coming for the past 3 years with my girlfriend, and although we obviously come for the food, Rocky is an added bonus at the Walker’s Point location. He’s such a sweet man always making sure to say hello, never forgetting a face, and always making the experience of eating here feel like home. Amazingly delicious Indian food here. Lunch specials from the hot counter give you a delectable smorgasbord of Indian specialties, you pretty much can't miss with any of the options. For dinner we usually get the gobi manchurian and butter chicken. The sauce from the butter chicken and the naan are a match made in heaven. The one thing I'll mention is that occasionally when you order something "mild" it ends up a little spicier than mild, at least to my palate - I like spice but my dining partner does not. So if you have someone in your life who can't handle much spice, make sure you mention it when ordering. The great thing about this place is the flavors are so good, I don't miss the spicy kick too much.

I love Cafe India! 😊❤️ The food is profoundly tasty, the staff are amazing and the restaurant is always super clean. They have a lunch special daily til 3pm too that is phenomenal (even includes a beverage and roti which is a crisp bread). I always add the naan to boot. Everything I’ve tried, I’ve loved. I’ve been coming here for years—before they expanded and were just a counter with four high top tables. The quality of the food has been consistently amazing. The owner seems like someone who takes great pride in their business, and the kitchen staff is always kind. I’d recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala (of course) or the Palak Paneer/Shahi Paneer for a meatless option. Get a samosa, too—you’ll be glad you did.

Just had food from this location for the second time, and it was even better than the first. Ordered via EatStreet and selected a 6:30 delivery time. The food arrived a bit early (6:18 or so), but better early than late. We had the chicken tikka, stuffed onion and garlic naan, butter chicken, and samosas. Everything was so tasty, just phenomenal quality. One entree was a bit room temp while the other was piping hot. Maybe just a timing issue that could be worked on so both arrive hot. The naan was delicious, if I had to critique it I'd say a bit greasy, but so delicious. If you eat at the location it looks a little questionable from the outside, but inside it is clean and inviting. Honestly, you are coming for the food. If you don't like the location, eatstreet was a great option.

Great food, uncompromising customer service. After a long tiring day at work, I had my food ordered through grubhub from Cafe India. The delivery drivers switched up the orders and I got the wrong ordered delivered to my place after 45 minutes of waiting. I called grubhub and told them the situation and they replied with 'sorry, will refund the amount'. While they provided an appropriate solution, it didn't help me get any less hangry!! Soon, I got a call from Ms Vijaya from Cafe India with an apology and she went above and beyond to get my order delivered to me.
