Reviews of Blue Bat Kitchen & Tequilaria

I have always walked/drove past here, and I was so glad I finally got to try it! The staff was so incredibly welcoming, and friendly. The restaurant itself had a great ambiance, perfect for lunch, brunch, or dinner. The bar is beautiful, and has a lot to offer. Their brunch on Saturdays and Sundays goes until 3PM so that’s when the lunch menu begins. There’s lots of unique varieties on the menu to choose from, cushioned with mexican cuisines. 10/10!

It was a pretty decent experience what they did nail, to begin with, is the atmosphere. The service was exceptional which I feel is most important. However, as a restaurant, this is not a place to get full and they have very high-priced small bites for the quality of ingredients. We come to have a fulfilling evening and this dining experience is nothing of the sorts! Great Brussels Sprouts if you do go and a really fun drink menu that is mostly tequila!

First time here. I love the vegetarian friendly options because it's difficult to find places that all my friends can eat out at. The food was delicious and prompt. The server was friendly, concise, and accommodating. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food. I'm on a sober cleanse right now but I heard the drinks were strong AND tasty. Birthday girl got a free birthday shot. She said it was a spicy caramel tequila and it was tasty with a nice burn. Will come back again!

Loved the along the River dining experience at Blue Bat Kitchen & Tequilaria. Located in the popular third ward in Milwaukee this is a great spot for dining with friends, girls nights, brunches, and happy hours.
They have a great menu selection and on weekends they have global brunch menu that ends at 3 pm. Love that the menu choices are diverse and there is something for everyone. The service is a 10/10. Our server was awesome and made great recommendations.
Food was delicious. Everything we ordered was incredible and portion size was great. We started with the fried Brussels sprouts and bag o chips. The bag o chips were super addicting and likes all the dips that came with. The Brussels sprouts were also well seasoned and crispy. Next we got the coconut red curry, chimichurri chicken salad, and Mediterranean chicken. The red curry was bursting with flavors, it was so good. The salad was fresh and the chimichuri chicken add just the right kick to it. The Mediterranean chicken as also tasty and a must try .
Overall we had a wonderful dining experience and cannot wait to go back.

I do like this place! The menu is unique with one page full of a variety of servings (appetizers, handheld, and bowls). The amount of food in bowls is quite satisfying.
Drinks are good, too. You can choose between different options (and non-alcoholic beverages are available, too). They might honor your birthday in one way. Unfortunately, their dessert menu was in a change by the time we visited, so we had no desserts there.
The scenery is gorgeous by the river. Come in summer for the outdoor seating, or get a cool reserved spot by the window indoor in winter.
One last thing, being an Egyptian, I was so proud to find the falafel as close as to our signature style 👌🏼😃

Was honestly quite disappointed in this meal. Staff were friendly and appropriately quick. The aesthetic and location were great! Prices were also good! Margarita was just okay. For appetizers we got the bbq wings and brussel sprouts. The sprouts were our favorite filled with flavor and texture though they could’ve been cooked a little bit more. Wings were hot and tasty but nothing exceptional. The tacos were a huge letdown - the options felt exciting but they lacked flavor and dimension. The steak tacos were the best with the lamb tacos being our greatest disappointment.

Everything about this place was great. The location, drinks, food, and service were all spot on. I got the best Paloma in the world, mixed to perfection. I split the Ahi Tuna Nachos, Korean Chicken Wings, and Brussels Sprouts with my dinner crew. The Brussels were my favorite thing, then the wings, followed by the nachos. My only complaint is that I wish the nachos weren't as dry, but they certainly tasted delicious. I'll definitely be coming back here to sit outside!

I was skeptical about the quality of the food here first, but was highly recommended the handhelds so I gave it a try. Didn’t disappoint, definitely good and the prices are not bad. Recommend the brisket, but the chicken and shrimp are also delicious. Been there multiple times already and will recommend as a place to try for a nice outing.

Our group said what's next? We all answered tequila! So the obvious place to go was Blue Bat.
We decided a flight was in order so everybody could figure out what they liked best. We even change the name of the bartender from Jesse to Jesus' he played along, it was a great. Thanks for the hospitality! @WiscoMary

After a ride on the Mke river we decided to have dinner at Blue Bat. Food and drinks were very tasty. They have tofu, vegetarian win! Service was great. Although they don’t have a kids menu they do have options just ask (plain tacos or quesadillas).
Jennifer Demski
Great spot on the river. We sat outside on a beautiful warm September afternoon and enjoyed our craft cocktails immensely. The price seemed reasonable at first, but the drinks were pretty small, so it was pricey after all. Our server was in training - but super attentive and kind. Great overall experience.
Dan Profio
Love this place! Tacos are creative and consistent. Their margaritas are also fantastic. Always have a good experience here! Highly recommend the Nashville Mushroom tacos.

I came back here the day after trying it for the first time!
Looks very nice inside and out,
Food is really good but it is pricey for the portions, also the chips were really good but it’s disappointing that they don’t come free with your food, it’s ordered as a side.
LONG LIVING LEGACIES
A lowkey area for food and drinks with a view of the river. Went here for lunch with the family, had no issues with a table of 10. Service is friendly, chips and salsa are on point. Servings of the meals are small compared for what you can get another Latino restaurants. Vibe 9, food, 6.5 service 8.5 Drinks 8.5

HAPPY HOUR 🍹@bluebatkitchen 📍 Milwaukee, WI more on @midwestmunching
Get a pitcher of this bad boy with your friends, get smashed off of great food, and bring the bottle home if you can't finish it 😂
Had a great time here, it was very well organized, especially because we had a 10+ person party after my best friends baby shower 🐣👼
We shared a bunch of apps and also ordered tacos/mains:
🌽GRILLED CORN
🌱BRUSSEL SPROUTS - nicely glazed, sweet & crispy
🌮FISH TACO - the Midwesterners do this RIGHT! Nice and crispy
🍟WHITE CHEDDAR FUNDITO - comes with chips, really tasty and nicely seasoned housemade chips
🌮FRIED GREEN TOMATO TACO WITH BACON (aka FGT) the waiter recommended this. Couldn't have asked for a crispier combo!
🌮BRISKET - with poblano gravy. Super tasty with the anchor rubbed + balanced pickled red onions
🌮 MEZCAL STEAK TACO - nice and simple, best bet if you want a good ol' steak taco
🐟 TERIYAKI SALMON - glazed sweet + soy & garlic , and shiitake noodles. Pretty good. It's interesting they have a mix of different cuisines and "simpler dinners/bowls" on top of Mexican food
🐟TUNA POKE - spicy + sesame aioli with chips
If you're sharing with two people, I highly recommend the chips, corn, steak and fish taco

Amazing place! I got concerned when their menu got 'foody' with their words. But my fiance who did his course in food world. Very good. Was very happy!
Tj Ellis
Absolutely amazing tequila & beer selection at a very reasonable price. This is an upscale tequila and Mexican food bar located riverfront on the river. Did not get a chance to taste the food but it looked great. They do offer tequila flights and samplers! This is a great place for date night located in Milwaukees Third Ward!
Denise Wiorek
The food was delicious! Cocktails were different fresh and very tasty! I loved being in the area and being right off the river was a plus. The staff was the most friendliest. And we would definitely go back again.
Melanie Hernandez
This place was such a gem of a find. We were seated at the perfect spot by the water and the food and drinks did not disappoint. My family is now obsessed :) The carnitas bowl and tacos were exploding with flavor. The appetizers, queso fundido and poutine, also delicious. 👏👏👏👏👏 Everyone left happy and satisfied. …
Zach Tichelaar
Food is pretty standard. Chips and salsa not coming with the meal feels like a crime. Our waiter was incredible and the location is fantastic. Decent place for slightly above average food
Jeremy Miller
Getting food here in the past was real underwhelming. Compared to belair, botanas, vagabond and other similar spots, getting food here isn’t anything special.
But the drinks! The drinks are damn good. I gave them another shot and got cocktails recently. Good service. Good atmosphere. It’s definitely worth enjoying a drink here.
Drew Shemenski
Great views and excellent service. Very cool vibe. The tacos were okay, ours were cold when served unfortunately. But the elite style corn was amazing!
Julie Julie
Oh man this place is amazing! What's happening with those chips?? Never had anything like them. They're addicting! I got the queso with them and it was great! For the tacos I got the FGT, fish and steak. So definitely get the FGT...in fact just save time and order 3 you'll be glad you did. The fish was super tasty too. The steak was dry...not bad tasting just needs sauce or something. I also got the corn which if you like any form of street corn then this is a must. Really nice server I think her name was Lucy super friendly.
LaTanya Dunn
LOVE IT LOVE IT 💕 The service was awesome. The food and drinks two thumbs up for me. Yes, I will be going back. This place is such a vibe!!!
Lauren Kaspar
Great location with a beautiful patio space & water views. Our server was attentive but not overly present. I had a house margarita and the bf had the paloma. My margarita was good and not overly sweet. I ordered without salt, like I usually do, and it actually arrived with no salt (that rarely happens). His drink was good, very grapefruity but not overly sweet either. We had the tuna poke nachos, very good but a little too much sauce. I had a Cajun shrimp & a Baja fish handheld taco, both delicious. The fish was cooked perfectly and the breading wasn't soggy (again a rarity). He had a Barbacoa Mushroom and a Bao-Mi handheld taco. The Mushroom taco was really earthy, neither of us cared for it but the Bao-Mi was yummy. Would recommend!
Gabriel
First time being there and it was absolutely amazing, everything was perfect and the food it's from another world
Definitely you have to come here to eat, the jalapeño Margarita blew my mind
Tess Halpern
The salsas were decent, the chicken flat bread taco is disgusting, the flat bread is so dry and there isn’t any sauce to combat that. There pineapple pork taco was decent, could have used some more fresh flavor and spice. Kind of bland. However I will say my mom had the Salomon bowl and said it was super flavorful. I tasted and it was much better then the tacos seemed to be. The service was great though and it is a beautifully decorated space.
Suzie King
Service was perfect - Meggy was very attentive and knowledgeable. I am so glad they are dog friendly. Please stay that way.
The menu was the reason they lost stars. We really couldn't find an entree that appealed to us. We ordered three apps - which was plenty but Blue Bat bills itself as fusion. What they "fused" didn't work for us. We did taste some great tequila.
Alisa Damitz
We were a bit disappointed with our experience. We ordered the "Bag O'Chips" as an appetizer and chose to include both salsas and the guacamole. However, the potion of chips was so small that there weren't enough to finish the salsa and guac. Additionally, I just ordered a Diet Coke on a hot evening on the river, and we weren't visited by our waitress very often, so I was never even able to ask for a refill. I can't imagine that they're making or losing money on the chips and fountain drinks.
Jennifer Wagner
Very cute spot with flavorful taco choices, outdoor seating by the river is perfect when the weather permits! Saved to my maps for future visits!
Rick and Dani Gramza
Great view, outstanding Margs and tequila selection, food was above average. Great selection of handhelds/street tacos. Brussels sprouts were amazing!
Kristen Potter
Delicious jalapeño margarita— and yummy tacos(try the Cajun!). If you are lucky you will have Dan as your bar tender— he is friendly with great suggestions and cheery banter. Go!
Erinn Proehl
Everything is delicious. We had the street corn with 4 different tacos and it was amazing. If you’re a cheap person who wants mass quantities.. go get fast food. But if you like great food at a great price— this place is for you. I don’t think you could go wrong on their menu. It’s really a brilliant place to eat.
Rachel Chapin
We were very late and grateful to be served last minute(a little after 8). I had the street corn and a barbacoa mushroom taco. Would have had more tacos and tequila if it wasnt so late. They were out of the first tequilas i asked for but I had a el tesoro reposado and a casa noble anejo. I liked the el tesoro more. The casa noble tasted too nutty or something. The street corn is to die for. I totally didnt care that it was all over my face. My friend had a brisket bowl of some kind. She also very much liked hers. Great experience dying to go back again. Would like to go when its not so busy and take my time more. 6 months until next time unless i find another excuse lol

You won’t find a place with more delicious drinks. Prices for drinks are par for the course for a city the size of Milwaukee, but more affordable than the prices you’d find in a bar in Chicago. The food was amazing. I ordered the churro pancakes and immediately fell in love.
In the Summer they set tables out by the dock side. The manager was incredibly kind and let our group of 4 sit at the large table with a view since it was a rainy day and wasn’t busy.
We even asked for recommendations for things to do in town & he crowd sourced ideas from the staff. Our server was very nice and very attentive! 100/10 I would recommend!!
petersonA95
Food was okay, nothing special. Service was not very quick either. Our waiter was awesome though and really saved the experience. It was pretty fun trying different tequilas, and apparently they have a tequila flight which sounds pretty worth it.

One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to! The food, drinks, and atmosphere were beyond amazing! Can’t wait to recommend to everyone I know! We had the absolute pleasure of Joe being our server. He had the best suggestions (we got all of them and had the best food and drink), was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, friendly, attentive, and went out of his way to make sure we had the best experience. Hope anyone who goes here gets to have him as a server too!!
Todd
Good drinks in an enthralling industrial chic setting. The tequila obviously shines here! We grabbed pomegranate mules to go on our journey down the riverwalk.
The staffing was great here!
Also…black toilets…
Tom Mullen
Food is very good, we enjoyed tacos that were turned into "bowls" which was basically adding rice. Tequila selection was outstanding. We sat at the bar as there was a 2 hour wait for a table. The place looks amazing and the outdoor patio on the river would be a great place on a nice day.
Kimberly Keller
The bartenders are very friendly. One of them suggested a Mezcal jalapeño margarita with spicy salt (off menu creation) and it was amazing! We have been back for this drink several times. The only food we've tried there are the bag of chips with homemade salsa, and these were the best tortilla chips I've had in my life :)
Karla Carreon
Amazing food and great drinks! They have a wide selection for both menus. Love that they have a mix of Mexican, Mediterranean, and Korean. Anthony B was our waiter he was absolutely amazing. Had great recommendations and overall contributed to a great experience
Paul Picciolo
Stopped by with some friends on the river. Laken was our waitress and all I can say is she was amazing, incredibly attentive, and a master of her craft. Throughout our experience we had impeccable service, dynamite drinks with a perfect atmosphere. Thank you for an incredible night out!!
Laura Scheel
The girls and I were there last saturday and ate downstairs which was a bit chilly by the glass wall... BUT the food and service were outstanding. The bartender was our server and i can't remember his name but he was SO MUCH FUN, we were going to invite him out with us, lol... and at his recommendation I had a brisket taco which was out of this world. He also made us a pitcher of skinny margaritas which we didn't even find on the menu. Just fantastic all the way around. He said "I got you" and boy did he mean it. SERVICE IS EVERYTHING!!
Tod Zacher
Drinks were okay but could not make their Blue Bat menu drink. The bowls on the menu were very good. The tacos suck. I had 3 tiny, dry tacos with no flavor.
There are lots of other good places to go in the area. I will skip this place the next time.
Rohit Chettiyar
Good place for casual dining with awesome food, Tequilas and service.
Jhon Quintero
Great place to eat, the tacos al pastor were very good, the outdoor seating area is perfect.
Ryan Barnard
Our food and drinks were delicious, and our server was super friendly. The atmosphere is chic but approachable, and it's in a great Third Ward location. If you're a tequila lover, you'll love all the bottles behind the bar!
Marisol Lopez
First time at this very nice restaurant. I was looking forward to the drinks and food. I had the Baja taco and steak taco which tasted really good but the steak was lukewarm which was disappointing. The strawberry margarita tasted like salt and tequila. If I would’ve known it would taste like that I would’ve said no to the salt. The waitress was nice but we had to wait a long time to get plates to eat our appetizer. My friend ordered a second drink which seemed to take a long time. The queso dip and chips were the highlight of the dinner.
Nathalie J
If you like I enjoy salt, tequila, savory tastes…you will like it here. Is it perfectly authentic Mexican/Asian food? No. Is it delicious? Yes. I wish I lived nearer so I could come again and again!
Liv Andersen-Lopez
This review is specific to Anthony, our incredible server. Willing to search high and low for a specific mezcal we ordered, who regaled with his never-ending stream of positive energy, complete knowledge of the menu and steering us to excellent selections all around, we really enjoyed our experience with tremendous thanks to him. Thanks for a memorable and yummy meal in Milwaukee.
Mark Burt
It was my first time here and I'd say the service and the food were adequate. I was torn between a 3 and 4 star review. But what brought it down to a 3 was watching the bartender "clean" our spot at the bar by taking a menu and brushing the food scraps from the previous occupants onto the floor. She didn't even bother to wipe anything down with a wet rag. Just a clean sweep onto the floor using the edge of the menu.
The tacos and margaritas were okay but nothing special. I had 3 different tacos and two were supposed to have corn tortillas and one was supposed to be flour. But all 3 came on a wimpy flour tortillas that fell apart. The pork taco was the best but it was lukewarm at best. The steak and egg taco was also not hot and didn't have much flavor.
Our server was nice but a little slow and unproductive. I would have ordered more drinks if he had come around more often. It's pretty easy to notice when someone's drink glass is empty. The whole staff seemed hungover and moving a bit slow. I get that everyone is short staffed these days but there shouldn't be dirty plates and dishes sitting at the bar several minutes after a customer leaves.
It's great location overlooking the river but I don't think I'll be in any big hurry to return.
Illana Kolata
Went out for dinner & drinks, dinner was amazing! It was still early in the night and our food was out within minutes. We started off with falafel and it was incredibly tasty, I garnish was nutty, citrusy and light. I believe it came with 4, they were so good I could've eaten the whole appetizer myself but unfortunately had to share, haha! I ordered 3 fish tacos and my husband ordered the pulled pork bowl for our meals. Next time I'll definitely order a bowl, it's comparable in price to getting 3-4 tacos but it's a bigger helping for sure! Will be visiting again 🤤
Sarita Sashington
OH MY GOODNESS!❤❤❤❤ Food and views were amazing. This place sits right.off the water.
We were rushing to our next spot so didn't get a lot. What we did get was soooo good!💪 I love Brussel sprouts, these were off the chain. The Mexican corn...baby yes!! I tried the fried green tomato taco, brisket taco (too dry, switched it out for the shrimp taco) really good. Cod taco.alll very , very good! Note: stay away from the pineapple jalapeño drink🤮
Jillian sherzer
Stopped In here for drinks while waiting for an appointment. Eric was an absolute pleasure and kindly answered all our tequila questions. Can’t wait to come back to try the food.
Jeffrey Lundberg
Great atmosphere near the third ward. Food was pretty good, service was also OK. Menu options offer something for everyone. I like that the experiment with different foods and flavors, but don't expect to love everything.
Daniel Richmond
I went here on a first date, and the date went absolutely swimmingly! The restaurant has a very laid back staff, the view is wonderful, the waiter was extremely helpful, and his food suggestions were spot on. 100% an experience I would love to have again!
Gabe Heath
A flight of Anejo on a Thirsty Thursday, hard to go wrong. But a pairing like this is just exceptional. I will be back to try more
Jack M Sum
The wings and Milwaukee street corn were standouts, the handhelds (tacos) were good but tiny for the price. Service is pretty bad. I would try again with the hopes that we’ll get better service.

Visiting from Dallas and we couldn't decide on what to try for our only meal in Milwaukee. We definitely wanted to sit outside with a view of the water... We made an excellent choice... The house margaritas were amazing - house and amazing hardly ever go together but they were delicious. The brussel sprouts were delicious and I've only had them this way one other time in my life and have tried to recreate them many times. The street corn is awesome... Bag of chips with salsa and guac is a little more than I'd expect to pay but I can't even complain - the chips are another one of those features like the Brussels... I could search far and wide for these type of chips and never be able to recreate them. I have one problem but everything else made up for the star I would've taken away... There's no changing table and when asked, the response was we're kid accommodating but not kid friendly. What an odd response.... Anyways, if you must, do what we did and run across the street to shake shack - they have changing tables and didn't question our entry and quick exit.
Chloe Skrober
Every single time I’ve dined here, I’ve found myself greeted with big smiles and friendly assistance! I’ve had several great servers here, I wish I could make them all, but you can’t go wrong! Fantastic spicy margs, service and creamed corn! The mezcal list is extravagant and detailed, which will always induce a thumbs up from me! I definitely recommend the cocktail, “Third Ward!”
Audrey Morrow
This venue combines a stately grandeur, offering picture windows on the beautiful river no less, with a most welcoming staff, and delectable food. Plus divine drinks. So highly recommended, after enjoying their queso fundido, drinks and a variety of personalized tacos.
Cesar Romero
Perfectly located by the Milwaukee River. We stopped during kayaking and had a wonderful meal. Ask for a Margarita as this is a Tequileria (not Tequilaria as it's named). Johny took great care of us. We'll definitely come back.
Cyndi Kramer
Word of warning: don't make our mistake and assume that Monday at 6:00 would not require reservations. It was completely full and the only reason we scored a table was because a reservation group did not show up or call, apparently in spite of attempts to contact them. The hostess was very pleasant and accommodating.
We slid into their table and proceeded to have some exceptional good tacos and a curry rice bowl. We had the Baja fish taco, mezcal steak, al pastor and one other that I've since forgotten.
Probably the only sour note of the evening (and it was a small one) was when I was asked what I would like to drink. I was still waiting for the rest of my group so I was alone and literally had had no chance to look at the menu, drinks or otherwise. When I asked the server if there was a sangria (Mexican restaurant, seems like, yes?) instead of saying something like "sorry, no...maybe you'd like ________" and offer a suggestion, he said in an incredibly condescending way "we're a tequilaria so our drinks are tequila based". Well, okay, but there was also beer, wine, and other drinks on the menu that I finally got to look at and basically I just said "okay, ice tea". Even I know this is not a big money maker and after perusing the drinks I did see one I would have liked but didn't bother.
As it turns out, watching him, he was clearly happier behind the bar where he spent most of the time we were there, not super attentive or very quick. A refill took so long I figured I wouldn't get it.
All that said, delicious food, nice setting, didn't feel crowded in spite of being full.
Rory Harding
I went in for Happy Hour on a Wednesday and Shoua, the bartender downstairs, recommended a jalapeño margarita which was spot on. Although it was just a coincidence (I didn’t know about their happy hour) the food and drink specials are outstanding. Shoua is the perfect guide to help you navigate the delectable menu at Blue Bat
Emily Anderson
Love. Literally. Everything. Group of 6. Everyone loved their food. Service was awesome. I'd go here multiple times a week. Brussel sprouts. Street corn. Fundido. Tacos. Bowls
Went back within 5 days for the second round. Tacos were good. Got the Brussels again and tried the poke nachos. I think I prefer the bowls over the tacos -- best service.
Ezra Stahl
Lack luster quantities, for the flavor experience. Not horrible, not good. Waiter tried to upsell our bill which was embarrassing as my parents were taking me out to dinner for my birthday and are both teachers.
Edit:
The owners have responded with the generic copy and paste response they give to every other dissatisfied custi 💀😂 This def reflects the over all energy of my experiences here accurately

Yum yum yum!! Can’t say enough good things about our first experience at Blue Bat. First off, it’s a fun atmosphere with the tall bar display and rolling ladder. I had the House Rita to drink which was a basic but well-balanced and good tasting cocktail.
All the food we had was great! The Tuna Poke Nacho appetizer was especially delicious (forgot to take a photo until we were halfway done!). I am not a huge seafood lover but these nachos were sooooo goooood, definitely recommend them! I had the Pork Mojo Bowl and my partner had 3 “handhelds”. All were well-cooked with unique flavors. The portions were filling without being too large.
We finished off with dessert- fudge brownie with horchata ice cream and rum caramel. The brownie was good (nothing spectacular but yummy) but the horchata ice cream was fantastic!! Our waitress told us that the Purple Moon ice cream company makes it for them, and it was truly special.
Best of all, the prices were extremely reasonable! I triple-checked our bill because it didn’t seem like we were being charged enough!! We don’t get down to the Third Ward too often but next time we are in the area we will be returning to Blue Bat!
David Steinbrenner
Delicious food. Great service. Nice views of the river. The fried green tomato taco was awesome. The Baja taco was so good. The tune poke nachos were great. The Mexican sweet was probably the best corn I've ever had. I can wait to go back
Miranda Scheel
This place is SO good. Thousand times better than Belair. Had the chip/salsa, FGT and Barbacoa tacos. Amazing tacos, food, and atmosphere and exceeded my expectations and will definitely come back next time I’m in town. Alonso was super helpful and nice! Lot of vegan options!
Luke Behringer
Joe from Blue Bat was our waiter and he was fantastic. Always there with refills and was very helpful with ordering. Thanks Joe! I recommend a nice raise and promotion.
The Borg Cooking Show
The tacos are delicious and the tequila selection is the most impressive I've ever seen.
It's a bit over-priced, but the location is fabulous.
Eye Eye
Really excellent location right on the river with beautiful views. It is pretty good I recommend the tacos in particular the smoked brisket or mushroom (it’s better than you’d expect). Has a really great selection of tequila and I’ll include a photo of them. Nice area to walk around and a iron walkway with a viewpoint over the city is next door.
Ellery Marks
This is my favorite restaurant in Milwaukee! Strong drinks, amazing food, and incredible service! I came the first day this restaurant opened and have been coming back monthly ever since. The restaurant looks like a taco place on the outside, but I think international street food is a better characterization. They have a great list of good tequila drinks and they are very strong! I tend to get the same things every time I come here, so here are my recommendations: for starters, the fried brussel sprouts and the tuna poke nachos. The fried brussel sprouts are perfectly crispy, covered with cheese, with just enough lime to cut the richness of the other ingredients. The tuna poke nachos are delicious too! Fresh tuna and mango. The chips here are light, crispy, salty, and still warm from the fryer. I would recommend getting them with guac if you don't like poke. For tacos, I think Blue Bat has the best steak taco I've ever had. I always get their mezcal agave steak taco and the taco #9. The taco #9 is a tuna poke taco and comes in a lettuce wrap. The brisket taco is also a big hit with the friends I make come here. If you aren't too full for dessert, Purple Door ice cream makes flavors especially for Blue Bat. If all the flavors are good, I usually get one of each! I look forward to coming here every time I get the chance and would love to have my own table here if I could!
Hazam Malik
Unique location by being on the river front. Menu itself not so much. Ordered a few tacos nothing really extraordinary. Service was pleasant, but cleanliness is a scare.

Wonderful spot in the heart of MKE. Get a window seat if you can and enjoy the spicy margs. The queso dip if phenomenal and if you get tacos make sure to try the BAO Bun.
Diamond Cole
The fish tacos were bomb. I tried the salmon bowl and while the salmon was cooked perfectly the rice was over done. And the crispy onions were burnt so it put a bad taste in mouth. I'd come back for tacos though!

We don’t get to Milwaukee very often, so while we were there we decided to check out a new restaurant. We had a party of 5. We walked in and was seated right away. We sat down and looked at the menus. The waitress came to explain a little about the different options. We also had a small menu with their specials on it. She came to take our order and had to have us point it out on the menu so she could write it down. Then someone else comes to the table and told us that 3 of the things we ordered we not available because the specials menu that she gave us was from the day before. We reordered with stuff from the regular menu. Then she comes back and tells us we could get 2 out of the 3 things we ordered off the specials menu..... okay cool. When the food came, they had replaced 2 of our tacos from the specials menu with something similar from the regular menu without saying anything. So then they said they would bring out the original thing we ordered that they said they couldn’t make because it was offered the day before. The food was good, but the organization and knowledge of their menu was horrible. We also ordered 2 appetizers we asked to be brought out with everything, and they came out right away, about 20 minutes before we got the rest of our food.
Marsha Hernandez
Amazing and fresh, highly recommend the spicy margarita or the Char'd apple Margarita for drinks. Poke nachos are addictive, you gotta try this place!
Dominique Lettiere
I absolutely LOVED the Blue Bat! They have a unique (but delicious) menu and tons of tequila options.
They have very few tables outside, so we waited about 1 hour. The host was very friendly. The inside of the restaurant was also nice!
The watermelon vanilla martini was great and unique, just a little sweet. The fried brussels sprouts were fantastic and they had an interesting sauce with them. I had the Cuban Bowl as my entree and it was phenomenal. I loved the pickles!
Irie Lott
Delicious food and drinks! A must try for tequila lovers. Great location a d view right on the water. Lots of seaying indoor & outdoor. Two bars. Chips and salsa are sooo good but WAAAY over priced. Pricing is the only reason I'm giving blue bat a 4 instead of 5; we LOVED everything!
Victoria S.
We ordered for curbside. They do have an outdoor patio right on the river which is nice.
The Good: Order was ready at the quoted time. Ample curbside parking space which is rare downtown! Food was great, we really enjoyed the bag o’chips with the two salsas and guacamole. Very well seasoned and good packaging. You could eat the chips plain, they were that tasty. The teriyaki salmon bowl was flavorful, we would go back just for that. I also appreciated that they didn’t go heavy on the sesame seeds when garnishing the salmon. Many places tend to do that and it can be too much. We tried a variety of tacos and our favorites were the FGT and the Cajun shrimp. We also ordered the Baja fish taco and the Barbacoa Mushroom. We loved the execution of the tacos, they put the veggies on the bottom of the proteins inside the taco instead of on top and it really made for a good taco eating experience where you didn’t have toppings falling out everywhere as you bit into the tacos.
Candor with care:
Service - The customer service received on the phone and during curbside was nice but could use some improvement, it felt awkward but we figured maybe she was new!
They only gave us 1 napkin. Next time we will ask for extra (tacos can get messy).
The salmon bowl/tacos came in a plastic container, some may care and others may not but, with many places now offering eco-friendly packaging, it’s worth noting in case someone does mind. Not a dealbreaker for us. UPDATE: The restaurant has clarified that these are BPA free and recyclable!
Overall, great food and location. Menu has something for everyone including gluten free and vegan options. We will definitely be back.
Gianni Mezzadri
Great Tacos, especially the one with fried green tomatoes. The fried Brussels sprout are to die for. And the margaritas are perfect. Price correct for the quality of food and the service.
Jen
Visited Blue Bat for Valentine's day. Nice atmosphere, good service, seating is too close together and we were stuck in between two other couples on a bench, which always feels too crowded. We were very excited to try an array of tacos; we got the Baja, FGT, barbacoa, Cajun, Korean beef, and smoked brisket. Between the two of us, we both thought the barbocoa, Cajun, and brisket were very bland and boring. We liked the Baja the best as it had a delicious ailoi and perfectly battered fish. I was not expecting to like that one most. Other than the FGT, the rest were pretty dry and plain, we had to use the hot sauces to make them a bit more exciting. Would go back and try again, or at least for the Baja tacos.
Amit Pandya
I have been to this place with my friends. They do have a great beverage option and can make non alcoholic version too. That was great for me. Food is amazing. This place is just right next to rive and has great view too.
Jack Melvin
Slow, very slow to get our order. The server even apologized several times. With that said, the food was awesome.
Great views outside.
Alexandra D
Our server Anthony was great - super attentive and friendly, and even though he had a bunch of tables he made it seem effortless! Food was really good - I expected the street corn to come in a bowl, but they were mini cobs. Little messy but so worth it. The white cheddar fundido was phenomenal. Will be back!
Garrett Lawler
Anthony was hands down, the best server I have ever had in my 28 years on planet earth. We had a group of ten, and every order came out perfect. Not only was the service great, but this man knew exactly how to relate to us. We had an exceptional time at blue bat, and I cannot wait to come back!
Mary Apolinar
Happy Hour was delicious. $5 margaritas. Great service. Beautiful decorated and views
Caleb Carter
Really good food. No complaints there. The staff are also nice and accommodating.
The big detractor for this restaurant was the bugs. They seemed to have a pretty big gnat problem that was persistent. They need to take care of this to help the atmosphere be as nice as it should be.
Rob
Great atmosphere, very clean and welcoming staff. Huge tequila bar.
Very unique menu offerings in a VERY wonderful way!
Not going to tell you what tacos and bowls we had as you must experience it for yourself!
matt huffman
Food was decent. Got a bowl, salad seemed small, meat was good. Homemade chips were excellent! Will be back to try other apps!
Scott Campbell
Great time in Milwaukee. Emma took good care of us and we ate well. Lots of dishes to share and all kinds of street food. The shrimp, chicken and brisket street wraps were great. We sat out by the water and enjoyed the evening.
Ellis
Had an early dinner with a friend on a recent Saturday. We split an appetizer, white cheddar fundido. Very tasty! I had the green tomato taco (FGT) and the baha taco, both of them equally delicious. Had a Paloma cocktail. I would have this same dinner again and again but there are other options I'd love to try. Services was super! Will be back for sure!!
Megan Farley
The service was a little slow but overall it was friendly staff and really good food! We had the traditional Bloody Mary’s, cheese curd poutine, and a total of 4 different handhelds. The poutine was excellent and stood out amongst the rest. However, the carnitas were cooked perfectly and had a great sauce on them. We were glad to of stopped and enjoyed the patio overlooking the Milwaukee River.
Enzo Bova
Joe from blue bat was amazing! He needs to be promoted and get a very hefty raise. It was my engagement party and he was very welcoming and kind.
Sylvan Millevolte
Had the best experience, our waiter Joe was amazing and was very knowledgeable of the menu. Do recommend!
Courtney Beaston
Emma was the best server you could ever ask for. She was so nice and friendly and attentive. Food came out fast. Great atmosphere! She made my sisters birthday a really great time.
Matthew Barnard
It's not just another taco place. It's an interesting mix of tacos, poke, salads, and appetizers. Please get the street corn. It was unreal.
It's a great lunch spot or casual dinner spot. We didn't get into the drinks too far but their whole thing is they have 100+ kinds of tequila.
Dinner and drinks for 2 would be about 75 bucks plus tip.
Jeremy Cohen-Tannugi
That’s an awesome MKE joint on the Riverwalk, with its finger food and bowls, finely prepared and seasoned - thank you Cliff for sharing your talents. The entire staff team brings it to another level!! Congrats 👏👏👏
Takahiro Yang
We had a reservation but was seated later than the people who came in after us. The chips and salsa and the tacos however were very good and the server was nice.
Dave Cohen
Great experience. Awesome service, and food was delicious. Best things we ate, the queso fundido and fried green tomato taco
Gray Skull
Super friendly bar tender... I don't even like Margheritas but at this place they are fantastic
James Tungate
Good tacos and appetizers, overall very nice environment that is modern yet cozy. Some issues between the server and kitchen as the specials listed were not being offered that night.
Deborous Patterson jr
They had a rum pairing and it was spot on. They were very accommodating to me since I am handicapped. I look forward to other programs they will have and to go out on the patio the next time i am there.
Ty Ebert
Great view of the river and a cute little venue. The food and service was pretty standard. We had the brussel sprouts and some tuna nachos. There were three of us and it really didn't feel like enough for the group. Nothing against the food, just make sure you get extras so that everybody can get their fill. The drinks were average. Would consider going again if I'm in that part of downtown in the future.
Eric Huebschman
The cocktails are great, and so were the banana fritters, but the tacos we had were average. The breakfast taco was ok, and I think the Cajun shrimp taco would have been better on a corn tortilla. I think this place has great potential, but maybe focus more on the Mexican cuisine, and reduce the "global" menu items as they quality is hard to keep up with so many different types of food from around the world, thanks!
distinct person
The salmon was delicious and it came in a large portion. The Cajun and the Bao-Mi were both just as delicious. I ordered mine with no cilantro. They are smaller tacos but perfect for me.
Our waitress, Leah, was great.
Acsa Buening
Spectacular service and great tacos. Their sauce selection is yummy and the mango salsa a must try! I don't care for tequila, but if you do, they have an enormous variety to pick from. Definitely going bavk!
Haley Fioretti
Came with a friend on a Friday night and we were seated promptly. Our server Ashley was so sweet and helpful. We even ranted to her about our Uber experience and she joked around with us while still maintaining a welcoming attitude. The atmosphere is so fun and bright. A little margarita never hurt anyone either (;
Heather Randleman
Not my thing. Seemed trendy.I prefer traditional cuisine to fusion or global. They do have average to spicy dishes.
Not a drinker to speak on the bar. A wide variety of mescal is at the window. Good service. Great location with an opportunity to enjoy outdoor seating. They have chips with an excellent Americanized cheese bowl.
Tanya Dunn
LOVE IT LOVE IT💕 The place is such a vibe. The food and drinks was awesome. I would definitely go back.
LILY PETERSON
We had an absolutely fabulous and fun experience! Anthony, our server was fantastic, he was personable and great with everyone. We loved him! Food and drinks were great!! Amazing spot!
Thor S
Parked our kayaks up and walked on in. I asked for a bloody Mary and they counter-offered with a bloody maria. I was skeptical but gave it a try. It was one of the best drinks I've ever had. I constantly think about that bloody maria. Next time I'm in Milwaukee I will definitely stop by and have another one.
Mimi Baird
They were awesome!! I’m visiting Milwaukee and was in with my granddaughter for her birthday. She was having a moment and the staff made her feel special and even made her a special drink!! Thanks guys for cheering her up!! Great staff!!
Dani Koehler
The food was unique and delicious, and the view of the the river adds to the warm, interesting atmosphere. It's somewhat overpriced, but comparable for the third Ward.
Sarah Cliver
Wish this was a 5⭐️. Food and service were great. We all got drinks, but they were pretty weak. We spent a good amount of time killing gnats and flies (inside). Had hoped for a better experience.
Taylor Beck
This is such a fun place for a date night! All of their appetizers are delicious and great for sharing, their tacos are delicious and I love the variety of flavors, and all of their cocktails are delicious. I recommend coming when the weather is nice so you can sit along the weather.
Vivian Hastings
Had such a fun experience with great food! Joe was our server & was excellent.
Jill Lee
Ordered the reposado. Made reservation for table however they were not too busy with outdoor and indoor seating. Came here for drinks. It was a fun experience! For parking there’s street and metered parking.
Destiny Urbaniak
My boyfriend & I went during brunch. Menu selection was a little small, but we both loved our meals. Alonso is an awesome bartender! Friendly, talkative, & attentive. He gave suggestions & made sure our food came out correct. Will be back!
Edit 05/16/22- went again for brunch. We’ve gone several times since the original review. Serving sizes seem to have been cut in half. My boyfriend ordered the steak & eggs as a bowl and I ordered the salmon. We were told the menu is going through changes. Food was amazing per usual. Our server, Joe, was awesome! Very friendly and striked up a few conversations with us as he passed us. We sat outside by the river- nice atmosphere. Just disappointed that we didn’t leave as full as usual. Needed to grab a snack a little later.
Jorge Aguilar Segura
Excellent selection of beverages and delectable tacos. The food offers a fusion of flavors across the food spectrum and the tequila selection should more than satisfy the tequila and mezcal enthusiast.
Andrew Boettcher
Good food and service. Fast outdoor seating for 6:00pm on a beautiful late summer Friday night. Twenty minute wait.
Brian Hinkle
Business dinner with out of town clients. Place was very busy. Couldn't get a reservation. Ate at the bar. Servers were great. Food was very tasty. Also, avoided the crowd by parking farther away and rode the streetcar to Third ward.
Sadeem Alzaghran
This place is a total vibe. The service was great, our server was extremely helpful . The taste of each dish was exquisite. Highly recommend!! Don’t forget to order the corn so yummy 😋😋👍🏻
Gabie Johnson
Food is subpar the tequila is impressive! Our waiter Corey was amazing, sitting on the water was also a vibe.
Nadine Galloway
Loved it, the street corn is the best ever, be sure to order it and you'll want more. The Jalapeños Margarita is incredible, very tasty. I could go back anytime.
AlexC.625
Not your traditional Mexican restaurant. I've only tried the steak and egg tacos so I can't speak for the rest of the food. Meat was nice tender and flavorful. I don't think its worth $4.50 for one but that's just my opinion. all and all not bad.
Stephen Medlin
The house margarita here is the best in Milwaukee! Chips are OK, but after you’ve had a couple margaritas …they seem great also LOL. Nice selection of tacos, I like the steak but they’ve got a lot of great choices
Persio Nunez
I walked in without a reservation and got the best seat in the house. 2 top table in front of the window with an amazing view of the river and the big building with lights (don't know name). AMAZING food and even better drinks. It definitely was a perfect choice before a Bucks game!
Luke Hamilton
Food was creative and tasty, server was knowledgeable and friendly. Loved the huge windows, looking out over the river, they did a great job with the interior design. Get the chips and salsa and/or avocado toast for an appetizer, and the chilaquiles for an entree. So good!!
Deah Sims
Husband and I had lunch here and it was amazing. The Cajun Shrimp Tacos and the Tuna Poke Nachos were delicious. And our waiter was on point. Will be back.
Eric Siewert
The margaritas were superb as was the guac and salsa. The tacos just left something to be desired. The vibe and location are excellent but we went - unfortunately - on a snowy, rainy day. Go for guac and drinks. You will be impressed. Skip the tacos.
Natasha Jones
Atmosphere and staff here were great! My boyfriend and I didn’t have any food as we had just had dinner and we wanted to try the different tequilas that were available. Our waiter was Max and he was very knowledgeable about his tequilas! We had the Blue Bat Favorite tequila flights, a couple of cocktails and a few shots! It was a great evening! Looking forward to going back and trying some of the food.
andrew paulson
Service was great, very nice location. The restaurant is fun, comfortable and clean. Food can be a bit inconsistent, but overall very good. The Poke nachos are a must!
Savannah Salm
Great spot! It’s got a very trendy, fun vibe inside. I tried a few of the tacos and enjoyed them all! The margaritas were also pretty tasty.
Brother Josh
I stopped in last summer while I was in town briefly. The tacos I got were fantastic, both in presentation and taste. My server brought me some home made hot sauces that were also excellent. The service was upbeat and friendly, matching the vibe of the restaurant.
My only complaint is I wish they would bottle and sell their hot sauces; I'd totally have bought some to take home with me. I'll definitely come back next time I'm in Milwaukee, either way.
Jenn Owens
Stopped here based on a friend's recommendation and this place did not disappoint! Already looking forward to my next visit.
deanna bemus
Awesome tequila flights, servers were knowledgeable about the different kinds of tequila. Best hushpuppies ever!
Sam Cohen
Honestly wasn't super impressed by the food but the ambiance was nice and the service was good. Our table had roasted brussel sprouts, teriyaki salmon, and a couple small dishes. I thought the brussel sprouts had a weird flavor choice being topped with mango that didn't work super well, and the shishito peppers in the salmon dish tasted underdone. Everything else seemed pretty good though, and they have a whole wall of tequila which is kinda cool.
Vilene Hampton
The service is a little slowly poky. And the energy of the staff is kind of amateur. I only tried their handhelds because their brunch selection wasn’t really exciting and I didn’t have time to wait till 3 to explore one of the more enticing things on the menu.
I got the Cajun which is basically just shrimp and radish with sauce. A bit bland, large shrimp but kind of fishy. I also had the Carnitas … very great flavor. Food was just luke warm cold though. Didn’t have great energy either. I know that’s weird but you can tell when food is prepared by someone who actually likes to cook verses not.
The structure and architecture is amazing and a table by the river alone helps you over look any other not as magical experiences. Which is why I gave 3 stars. The place is 5 star potential easy … I think they just need to pay a little more attention to detail, and have a bit more warming service. The staff is nice though don’t get me wrong. Just a little blah.
Tequila selection obviously stellar, beer menu is perfect for just about anybody. You’ll find something you like.
I will be back. I only did brunch but I’m going to give this place another chance in the evening before I completely make up my mind about it.
Definitely give this place a shot though! Its worth the curiosity to say the least.
Rena Petersen
The food was good but I feel just a bit expensive for mexican food, albeit a step above typical mexican.food, but you are downtown so everything is a little bit more. If you sit outside it's really nice just make sure to wear a hat, my husband burnt his head. ☹ the drinks were not that good, could hardly taste the alcohol in my mixed drink. Overall it was just nice to eat out and be with good friends and enjoy the waterfront.
Scott Merkel
Great food and drinks! The service is a bit slow, but really good food and drinks
Bill Potter
Great place for a jalapeño margarita and a Cajun taco. Go! If you are lucky you will have Grifin as your bartender— he is cheery, friendly, and has great suggestions.
Kathy Ford
Great food and service. Great day to get out during Downtown Dinning Week. Hope to be back..
Jason Kolata
Service was friendly and fast, the atmosphere was welcoming, and most importantly, the food was delicious!
ashley glembin
I got pretty tipsy off of two house jalapeno margaritas. Corn on the cob was amazing
John Tyler
Anthony was great. Excellent service. Recommendations were spot on. Had a great experience with friends and family.
Logan Rumbaugh
Food was good, priced for the location and experience. A good place to take somebody visiting of you want to impress, but didn't seem like a restaurant I would choose as a go to on any given night. Reservations are also definitely recommended here.
Joe Sosnowski
Must stop MKE tequila destination.
Tim Swade
Cool location. We wanted to sit outside but we're unable do to it being full. Service was a bit slow and only 1 bartender. A friend wanted to try a few different tequilas but they were out.
Michaella Unnasch
The place to go for a different take on Mexican food. Pro tip: there is a bar upstairs and downstairs.
Vikram Jhanji
Nice place by the riverwalk . Fresh ingredients , fried banana was delicious and avocado toast was delicious as well. Fried banana is like banana bread . Just a quick feedback to ditch the watery salsa so the chips don't get soggy and separate the screambled egg a little more . Other than that very good food !! Definitely recommend to try it !
Rob Frisch
We had a lovely lunch on the patio. It's tented but with a side open, so there's a bit of a breeze but not a chill wind. The tables are like firepits, with flames in the center (I almost torched my menu!) and heat that comes out underneath. It was ideal for 90 minutes in 40-degree weather. The patio is first-come-first-serve, even if you have a reservation. Excellent cocktails, plus tasty street food from around the world. Portions aren't huge, but overall I was quite pleased with the food, the service, the heated patio and the sense of safety.
Rise & Chai
Always SO fabulous and fun here. The staff is amazing and always helpful!
Nathan Jensen
We had and awesome experience at blue bat! Our server matt was excellent. Friendly and knowledgeable of everything on the menu. Food was delicious i would recommend the medditerainian chicken taco personally. We sat on the back patio over looking the river. It was an absolutely perfect evening to dine outside . We had a bit of a wait for a table due to it being Friday nite in Milwaukee but the food was surely worth the wait. We can't wait to come back and enjoy some more tacos and river views
Yvonne Lauer
Courteous, attentive staff, phenomenal food, reasonable prices, great atmosphere
Sheetal Gowda
We tried the Elote Avocado Toast, Chilaquiles, and Churro Pancakes and all 3 were AMAZING!!! We couldn't even finish the food because the quantities were huge. Definitely want to come back and try more. The location is right along the water and awesome too!
Kevyn Schwab
The margarita we ordered was strong and the chips were great. Sadly the tacos are overpriced for their size and not very flavorful. The baja and barbacoa mushroom tacos were OK; my group agreed the mezcal steak was pretty bland. The service was acceptable. I probably won’t come back 🤷♂️ …
Ken Culver
Really enjoyed the food i had here. Pro tip: on the menu, handhelds are tacos. They are street taco sized. Try the bo-mi, the fish one, the steak, and the brisket. The chicken was kinda forgettable.
John Mueske
Fantastic food and drinks! Largest selection of tequila I've seen.
Seth Cooley
Excellent restaurant - great for a group of friends to sip back on grandpas cough medicine and have some delicious food from south of the border. The apps are awesome and the service is great. I have had some tacos that were a tad bit dry - but other than that, this place is a go to spot. See ya next time!
Jim Lillig
Everything was delicious. What a surprise. A hidden gem out in the open. The fundido was a wonderful cheesy experience. All the tacos were an array of different tastes. Highly recommend the fried green tomatoes. The mezcal steak could have been a bit more tender We'll be back. Alonzo helped us with the menu. The drinks are all tequila based.
Kitty Rodriguez
This place is a gem. Dinner on the water, fabulous fusion food, very fresh, less expensive than expected, and the tequila selection looked phenomenal. Tip: get the bowls. Everything can be turned in to a bowl. It's worth the little extra, you get a lot more.
Eric L
A really nice place with a great atmosphere along the Milwaukee River. They have a variety of bowls and modern tacos (that can be converted into Bao or bowls). Also a good selection of cocktails and tequila. Servers are very friendly. The restaurant is nice inside, but highly recommend sitting outside on the riverwalk.
Carri Torcivia
Husband and I went here for the 1st time yesterday. Great house margaritas for $6 and the made to order tortilla chips are delicious! I had a salad with the chicken and it was amazing. The hubs had 3 different hand held tacos that were all equally delicious and different. We will definitely be back.
Tess Tess
Their cauliflower tacos are Phenomenal first visit out of many more!!
Taryn Schleuning
The view is the best part. Really wanted to love this place but it falls short. The vibe is fun but the food was just okay and the service is average. The table was very wobbly and small.
Keith Baisden
Wonderful dinner. Sitting outside on the Historic Third Ward Riverwalk. Milwaukee Corn to start us off after a Paloma and Margarita drink. Shrimp, Cod, Steak and Fried tomatoe tacos were very tasty. Fantastic service by Annika. Lastly had a great apple turnover dessert. We will be back.
Jason Shupe
We were excited to try this place, but they told us there was a 25 minute wait, even though they had 10+ tables unoccupied.
Went to The Wicked Hop instead.
Jason Easterman
Bar in an upscale river apartment neighborhood on 1st street near Water street in the 3rd Ward area of Milwaukee. Extremely popular and very busy when open. Plenty of outdoor seating when warm enough for Milwaukeeans to sit outside. Interior and exterior makes it a great place to relax, especially since it sits right on the river. Plenty of docks for boats to come in and get a refreshment.
McKenzie Boswell
Great margaritas, lovely atmosphere very nice and helpful waitstaff!
Maddie Mette
Good atmosphere but food was very lackluster. Chips were soggy, tacos were basic. Avo toast was good! Surprised this place has the positive reviews. Very underwhelmed.
Maggie Attoe
Food experience was great but the staff experience was a little disappointed. The jalapeño margarita was delicious, but the flight of drinks specials was... not impressive (the flavor tones were very strange I would NEVER get again). The tacos we got were good, the poke nachos were VERY GOOD.
That aside I wanted to talk about the staff.
We found out it was a female supervisor (dark/short hair) who gave us the WORST service. First off we asked her if they had sour cream, she replied yes and walked away.. and did NOT bring us sour cream. I was astonished. She also passed us MULTIPLE times and did not say ONE word to us. "How's your meal, can I get you anything do you want your bill". She was in her own world and it was very much so evasive to any actual customer.
Your food and drinks can be good but if the staff is off putting it can strongly affect the experience.
In the end I ask myself, why should I go here when I can go to, Bel Aire for example and get a better experience?
Bob Wooten
What a gem!
My husband picked this restaurant on a recommendation from a colleague.
We knew going in the menu was smaller than similar establishments, however that did not detract from the experience.
We each picked a sharable, I chose the white cheddar fundido, he decided on the tuna poke nachos. Both had bold flavors unfamiliar to us.
Next we each tried a pair of handhelds, I had the barbacoa mushroom, he had the baja, we both had the brisket. While the former were delicious, the latter was sublime.
Next we each had a bao mi and a chicken shawarma. Again both were tasty.
In addition to the wonderful meal we each had two margaritas, at the recommendation of the server, we started with the house margarita, next I had a jalapeno lime, husband had a strawberry.
Both were wonderful.
Looking forward to repeat visits.
Aditya Karandikar
Definitely has some wow-factor, which isn't something I say often. Used Downtown Dining Week as an excuse to visit here for the first time and was certifiably impressed by the entire experience. Service was friendly, the food was both interesting and delicious, and the space was inviting and modern. Would recommend and will return. Highly recommend the "fried brussel sprouts" as an appetizer/shareable and really enjoyed one of the unique "curry cauliflower" tacos I had. As a side note, our server brought us an additional drink on the house because our food took a while to come out, which was unexpected (and we felt unnecessary), though highly appreciated.
Dave Wisdom
Very nice, reasonably priced and delicious Mexican fusion food.
Olivia Arnold
I’ve been here many times and have always had a great time! The food is INCREDIBLE and they always have something fun to offer- like boozy snow cones! Highly recommend the Brussels sprouts as an appetizer and brisket taco for a main. Very much like the family style service. Only thing I would change is to have a more extensive menu, as there aren’t many options.
Brittany S
All I can say is, Wow. We had the best meal since safer at home started tonight thanks to Blue Bat. Fish Taco Friday hit the spot. The pickled onions with the flaky white fish were so good and that street corn was incredible. They put BACON on top of the corn, y’all. It was packaged sustainability and you have the option to donate a meal (or two!) to an essential worker. 5 stars isn’t enough. We can’t wait to come back and and visit in person and get more handhelds, but for now, fish taco Friday at home is where it’s at. 🐠🐟 stay safe, Milwaukee. We love you!!
Kristin Jokela
We went for brunch. House margarita was good and a nice price. Chilaquiles were good, but the $6 upcharge for steak was not worth it - chewy and stale tasting. My dining partner's pancakes were ok - good flavor but not enough sauce to prevent the whole thing from eating dry. Service was just ok.
gina nicklas
Went to blue bat with 4 other friends for our first time on Thursday night. We had a beautiful table looking over the river. In addition to the beautiful view, we had the best service ever. His name was Johnny. He made our experience so fun, had so many great recommendations, and was so attentive and engaging. On to the food...so amazing!!! Johnny recommend to start with the poke nachos, Brussels, and street corn. Out of this world! Johnny also recommend some great handhelds for the main course. My favorite was the Bao-mi. Also amazing! We will be back!!!
Tim Holland
They try to be too avant guard. Probably fine for Chicago but not Milwaikee. Menu was very limiting and most of the food was blander than you would expect. Decent service but not worth a drive if u are not staying in the immediate area.
Carolyn Cooley
Went to Blue Bat this weekend for a birthday brunch. The service and attention to detail was impeccable. All I did when I made reservations was mention it was my birthday—they set us up with an amazing table, 2 servers, a handwritten birthday card, and tequila shots. I would absolutely recommend coming here for any celebration (or just in general). Food and drinks were spot on and pricing was great. Thanks so much, Blue Bat, we will definitely be back!!
Hunter Brim
The view and atmosphere is simply beautiful. Staff are so friendly and kind. The Baja Taco is my absolute favorite, one of the best cod fish tacos I have ever had.
Raphael Sim
Great selection of tequila!
-Bar needs more continuous support busing plates from food runnersIts would be good to arrange the bar's tequila by price according to what shelf it is on.
-Some very expensive tequila is on the mid shelf and might surprise customers.
- Staff has two polar opposites real good team players ready to aide another coworker --verses-- selfish staff concerned about their table/job oblivious of the trouble unfolding.
Amanda Miller
Outstanding food! The Brussel sprouts and banana fritters are amazing. Nathan, our server, was delightful. The pain perdu is luscious, the chilaquiles made me want cry with happiness and the other dishes were eaten up promptly with glee. Skip the other brunch places and hit this little gem on a Sunday!
McKenna Heck
Absolutely delicious food and drinks. Beautiful open atmosphere with 2 levels and 2 bars. We shared the white cheddar fundido, street corn, tacos, and caramelized pineapple salad. All very delicious and good prices. We also enjoyed house margaritas and a tequila flight. I would definitely come back. Great service, happy to recommend different food and drinks
Katrina Tollenaar
Fantastic tacos! We did the Bang Bang tray and tried 12 different tacos. OMGoodness! So delicious! And Ben the bartender/server was phenomenal! The house Rita pitcher was perfect. We'll definitely go back for more!
Silas Potter
A little dysfunctional, but they’ve got the spirit and the food and drinks are great. A few drink items were unavailable and we ran into some moments of confusion/delay with our server snd the kitchen - overall, though, the food was SUPER worth it. Get the FGT taco. Seriously.
Taylor Belmer
I've only been here a few times, and usually over the lunch hour since I work close-by. That said, I have always had great service here.
Tequila is in the name, and their selection is almost overwhelming. As I said, I've gone over my lunch hour, so no drinks for me, but I would love to come back in the evening for sure.
What I will say is that Blue Bat has some of the best chips and guac around. Hands down. If you go here, do yourself good and get them!
I've also always loved turning some of their handhelds into a bowl (such a cool offering). I have only tried the fried mushroom bowl and the Korean beef bowl -- both were excellent!
Amy Thornton
Editing my original review. We were delightfully suprised when, after our original visit, we got an email from the Blue Bat inviting us back for a better experience. We went last night and were very impressed. The bartenders were friendly and very attentive, drinks were great. Table service was spot on and the food was delicious. Will highly recommend highly recommend Blue Bat going forward.
Original review:
Service at the bar was very slow. Inattentive bartender. Waited 10 minutes for service. Bartender washed dishes before we got served. Food was good though.
Mike D
Really fantastic experience at Blue Bat! Really knowledgeable bartenders and great tequila selection. Pricing on good and cocktails is amazing. Such a great value. Very good cocktails. Beautiful space!
Aja Dorsey
My salad toppings were skimpy - lots of spring mix - the salad dressing was great. My guest's teriyaki salmon was not exciting (he used the word "Perkins," idk). The Brussel sprouts appetizer was laden with toppings and very flavorful - kinda greasy? They're fried so whatever.
We're all trying our best: 5 stars.

Jesse was our waiter and he made our first experience a memorable one. He explained all the drinks and food to us.
Drinks were great and food was delicious.
Roasted brussel sprouts are highly recommended!!
Shayne Chelminiak
My first experience was a roller coaster! The food, ambiance, cocktails, and service was INCREDIBLE…. however my date was very ruffled by the amount of compliments I received on my fashion. Advice to all, Michael Scott Tshirts are inevitably a distraction in the eyes of all females and can create trust issues. As I did not get lucky with my date I feel as if I got lucky with the relationship I made with Blue Bat and the future it entails.
Julia Taylor-Young
The location was perfect! Great place for drinks and appetizers

I was in the city for work and was craving tacos but not the traditional Mexican style. After some searching I found this place and decided to try it and I'm so glad I did. I loved this place, the tacos were absolutely delicious and exceptional service. My personal favorites were the shawarma, Cajun and crispy mushroom. The smoked brisket was also good but I just didn't like the white bbq sauce- nothing wrong with it, just not my thing. Make sure to ask for the house salsas because they are soooo good!!!!
mike thate
Brussels Spouts were great--Emma was a fantastic server
Mike Neubauer
Food was delicious and came out quickly. The staff was friendly and it wasn't too crowded. Some of the drinks are a little different and the menu selection is small. But a good spot to try if you like new experiences and a fun time.
ANNA MARTIN
Blue Bat Kitchen was GREAT! We had amazing customer service from the second we walked in the door until we walked out. The manager was very active out with customers not to mention that our waitress was super knowledgeable and extremely friendly! The food was delicious and is a great add to the third ward dining! I will definitely be going to Blue Bat again!
Kevin Throop
The Brussels sprouts are amazing, the other food options are good if you like sweet. The oyster mushroom tacos didn't taste like mushroom at all, mostly the fried breading. I was pleasantly surprised that the medium sauce actually had some kick to it, unlike most in the upper midwest. Great service as well.
Garrett & Alma Rose
My family and I came here for my daughter’s birthday. We had an unbelievable time and will be back here again. The highlight of our experience was Ben the bartender and waiter. He took time to sit down and explain how the menu worked and what drinks to order. The street corn was a fan favorite, and everyone really liked the Baja fish taco.
Anish Shah
This taco of kitchen this is a great place for vegetarians. Stir fried tomato taco is absolutely fantastic. The service is nice here. The guacamole is nicely flavored as well as their salsas. I would definitely recommend this to my friends and I will definitely be returning here again
Kraig
This is our favorite place to get tacos and other various handhelds! We really enjoy the vibe, the staff, and the food. Their outdoor dining is also a fun river view experience.
Brad Moore
Cajun bowl was UNBELIEVABLE. And the 'Wake the Dead' drink was delicious. This place was incredible. Great vibe, great service, gorgeous view and setting, food was fantastic.

We came with a work group for lunch and they did have a nice table that fit 8 in it's own little space. We shared the chips and salsa plus the Milwaukee street corn. The seasoning on the chips is awesome but the standard red salsa was pretty flavorless. The street corn had a mild flavor but the bacon pieces added a nice savory touch. I had the brisket taco and the fried green tomatoes taco. The FGT was tasty. A unique take on taco ingredients with a little extra flavor from the chipotle sauce and bacon. I was excited for the brisket taco but unfortunately the one I was served just had a huge slice of fat in it, absolutely NO meat. That turned me off so I didn't eat it. The thick white sauce was also overpowering. Our server was kind enough to remove the bad taco from our bill and I got a fresh one, with actual meat, to take home. They certainly have an interesting take on different global foods, but it's not one of my favorites.
Corey Roos
We decided to try Blue Bat for their brunch today. I couldn't have been more happy. The price point was absolutely perfect. The pomegranate mimosa was amazing and the 'Wake The Dead' coffee cocktail made my frends very happy. All of our meals were great, with the 'Moroccan Hash' standing out. The coffee was strong, the atmosphere was inviting and the staff were a delight. Cody, our server, was very attentive and Max frequently checked up on us to make sure everything was good and our experience was great. I will definitely be back!!
Keycifer Blakk
Besides the amazing food and drinks, the location is amazing. Though hard to park a car, the access to boat parking is perfect. I'm never dissapointed by the food, the kitchen staff is on point with changing up the menu. Service can be hit or miss but for the most part they are timely and accurate. I recommend this place to many, constantly and can't wait to visit again!
Mike Manske
Very enjoyable. Tacos are great, esp. the smoked brisket. Great mix of flavors all around. I am really looking forward to going back and trying the rest of the menu. One suggestion, please reconsider the hot sauce name - you have a nice place.
Chris Wisialowski
Such a great experience. I will be back. Thank you Blue Bat!

If you're looking for a premium tequila list and some amazing food, THIS IS THE PLACE! If you you're overwhelmed by the tequila list, just ask the bartender. They have not let me down with any recommendations! And now the food... the brussel sprouts are a must have starter for me. Tuna poke nachos may sounds strange but they are delicious. Give em a try!! And you can close your eyes and pick any of the tacos. All very unique flavors but all very tasty! #AdamsAppetite definitely approves!
Whitney Robinson
The food was really good. The waiting staff was friendly and knowledgeable regarding the products. The tequila menu was great. The view and decor inside was refreshing and not overwhelming. The natural light helped keep the room bright without being overly bright. I really enjoyed it. I'll be back!
Kristy Petrowski
Tacos were awesome, even though they were out of some of the choices! I just dont think it's fair to make me spend 8$ on salsa!!! Service was great too!
Selena Darrow
Stumbled upon this place on a Sunday morning while visiting Milwaukee. We were just going to have a drink, but after reviewing the menu we decided to eat. Wow!! The food was amazing- grit cake with shrimp and mojo pork were delicious and presented well. Brightly light and open atmosphere- we will be back!
Andrew Kline
Samantha, the bar tender, made our experience awesome. We came in with a party of 5 on Tuesday, 9/24/19 and no joke, our server quit in the middle of serving our table. The manager and couldn’t find him. Samantha stepped in and took care of our table and did her bar tending job. She was great. What could have been a very bad experience was made right by her. Ohh yeah and the tacos were pretty good too. Thanks!
Anna Herff
Oh my goodness this place was so yummy and the atmosphere was great too! We shared a pitcher of mimosas and got an entire bottle of champagne and picked three juices! It was so fun and I would love to go again!
Brian OKeefe
1st time there. Great place. Chips and Guac are delicious. Tons of Tequilas!
Katie Wildner
With a focus on global street food we were unsure of what to expect but food was an amazing flavor fusion. Ahi tuna Nachos and Wisconsin style Elote were just a few we tried and they were all on point. Tacos were a little simpler flavor profiles but still delicious and they are ordered a la carte. Definitely recommended and I'll be back for the boozy shaved ices!
Brandy Carbonell
Blue Bat has an absolutely beautiful space on the river walk. The food is excellent (4 stars) the tacos could have a bit more protein. I had the crispy oyster mushroom, Baja and flank steak tacos. They were all delicious, they have a wonderful selection on the menu for vegetarians. For an appetizer I had the white cheddar fundido and the house made chips that was so nicely seasoned! Overall wonder service, delicious food and beautiful atmosphere. Thank you!
Clinton Lade
Food was great. Service was less than great. Asked to be seated outside. Three times we had to ask for things. (1) A server to take our food order. (2) Silverware, which we finally had to go inside to get. And finally (3) Our bill. Overall, not a good first impression.

Blue Bat boasts a crazy tequila menu with Mexican inspired food truck food.
Food: Started with the bag of chips, Mexican brussel sprouts, and a cucumber margarita. The Brussel sprouts were the best thing we ate that night, and the bag of chips + guac was pretty standard. Both my wife and I’s drinks were ok, but not great. When it came to entrees, I had the Korean bowl and wife had the fish taco, brisket taco and cauliflower taco. My bowl was fine, nothing I would come back for but cooked well. My wife’s tacos were all good, but nothing that overly stood out amongst the rest.
Atmosphere: Pretty big space, but definitely still has the feeling of water buffalo inside. It seems like a pretty big space for the restaurant it is trying to be. That said, nothing was bad, just somewhat average. I didn't really get any sort of atmosphere of "food truck".
Service: Service was good, however we ordered appetizers, and we got our food pretty quick after, and they didn’t really stagger the entrees well. Aside from that, our server was very pleasant and knowledgeable of the menu.
My score: 6/10. Honestly, there is nothing inherently bad about our dining experience, as the service was fine, food was fine, and atmosphere was fine. However, that is how I would explain the place, it was fine, but nothing I would go back for anytime soon. I’d definitely recommend the sprouts though.
Daigham Bowers
Love this place, the location is nestled in the east side of the river giving awesome seating options weather permitted. The food options are also fantastic, not to mention they have one of the largest tequila menus around!
Great for lunch or dinner, totally check into it when you can. This is one of my new favorite spots!
Rebecca Guralnick
Service was great and so were the cocktails! Food was good but trying a little too hard to be asian fusion. I think that the restaurant would be better, given the tequila theme, sticking to a Mexican/Latin theme on the food than trying to incorporate a bunch of random asian flavors. Fun atmosphere!
Carl Birkholz
Visited for a work party. Really cool space with an outdoor patio area that looks amazing when there's warmer weather! Because of the party food was provided, but what was there was very good.
Kristal
Visited 04/06/19 with a party of 5 guests total for 7pm dinner with out table reservations. I went in knowing that this is definitely not a traditional Mexican restaurant and the chefs definitely do a great job creating their own twist on classics as well as introducing new flavors to the mix (mostly Asian inspired- poke nachos, bao bun taco etc.) I arrived 6:45pm to check in and put our names on the list. Upon arriving the hostess was very friendly and greeted me as I walked in and informed me wait was about 1hr-1hr 15 mins. We grabbed drinks at the bar while waiting for our table. They have a vast tequila selection (only tequilaria in MKE) the bartenders were promot, knowledgeable and the drinks were delicious. I drank the pomegranate blueberry cocktail which was delicious. You could definitely taste the tequila but it was not overwhelming and not syrup tasting either. They use fresh pomegranate juice and fresh blackberries. I also tried tastes of the Paloma with chili rim (it doesn’t come with it but they will do it for you) and Jalisco mule which were both great as well. We closed out our tab at the bar and we’re seated by 7:45pm.
As we were seated our server was very hospitable and explained the menu very well. The server brought out appetizers out very quickly. We started out with the queso fundido and fried brussel sprouts which were fantastic. The house made chips and seasoning were great on their own! I decided on the handhelds portion of the menu for dinner which are the tacos. Everyone’ food order came out correct, hot and all at the same time! They serve their tacos family style so you have to remember what you ordered as to make sure you don’t grab a taco from someone else at your table. 1 person in our party ordered no onions on her tacos so we had to check so one of us didn’t eat it! Of the many appetizing sounding tacos on the menu I decided with the mezcal steak, crispy mushroom and steamed bao bun (bun was in the shape of a taco as opposed to the traditional bao bun). The mezcal steak was familiar to traditional steak tacos (steak, cilantro, onion corn tortilla). The crispy mushroom was a pleasant surprise with the crisp of the lightly breaded beefy tasting mushroom and creaminess of the black beans and zest of the salsa. My favorite was their creative take the bao bun. The bun was in the shape of a taco and the filling (which changes every so often) was that of a shrimp fritter with scallions and sauce. The fritter was crip and not heavy or greasy. What I loved about their tacos was that they only used 1 tortilla for each taco. Anyone who’s had their share of tacos knows that some places use 2 tortillas if the quality of tortilla is poor or to purposely unbalance the filling to tortilla ratio to fill you up on tortillas. When it came time to pay our server was able to split our bill without a problem. Overall, I had a great experience dining at Blue Bat as well as the others in my party and we look forward to dining again soon.
Jeff Howard
Just ok, the appetizers were good but the tacos were average at best. We all enjoyed the Brussel sprouts and Poke nachos. One of our party really liked the teriyaki salmon bowl. I had the FGT, cajun, and brisket tacos they sounded interesting but arrived with raw tasting tortillas and just didn’t impress flavor wise. The house marg with Jalapeno was pretty good but over driven by lime as was the orange bat marg. Milwaukee is a great food town for it’s size blu bat just doesn’t stand out.
Liza Lemkuil
Service is great. Not a big tequila person but they have so many great options. As a grapefruit fan, I liked the Paloma. Chips and fundido are amazing! Really interesting taco combinations, very delicious.
Christopher Estrada
If you enjoy tequila and tacos this is the place to check out. They have an amazing tequila selection and some unique tacos and appetizers. Their beef brisket taco was well thought-out and delicious. If a smokey beef brisket and crispy carnitas had a baby this is what you would get. The Baja fish taco was also a favorite, it was comforting from the first bite. It reminded me of a Friday fish fry with family and friends. If your looking for a new place to check out or just a place that has great food, definitely give this place a try.
Jessica Rink
We tried every single taco and they're all delicious 😋 their house margaritas are also to die for. We will definitely be back. I can't get enough of the vibe in the restaurant and the river just makes it better 🥰 …
Elizabeth Tarleton
This was such a great spot! We easily made a reservation for a weekday evening, and the service was great! Highly recommend the bahn mi taco!
Erica Conway
Great bartenders and the ahi tuna nachos and fresh warm chips & guac are so good. Well worth a visit. Summer on the patio can’t be beat!! Especially with a spiked snow cone!!
Sarah O
This is literally the best margarita I've ver had... and believe me I've had my fair share. Adam is an amazing bartender. This was our first time here and he made us amazing cocktails and taught us about tequila. I can't wait to come back and try their food, it looks amazing!
Mary Wollensak
We went for lunch on Sunday on a bitterly cold day. The food was very good and everyone enjoyed their meals. I originally reviewed at 4 stars because my meal came out after everyone was finished with their meals. The owner contacted me to apologize and offer a gift card which was greatly appreciated. Great food, cool ambience and great customer service!
Eugenio Davila
Nice spot off the river to eat a meal.
Becky Curran Kekula
They have a great happy hour. The baked tortilla chips in a bag with salsa or guacamole are delicious. Any taco tortilla can be substituted for a bao bun at an added cost. If you subscribe to their mailing list, you get a free house margarita on your birthday.
Morgan Skalitzky
one of my fav restaurants in Milwaukee. Get the steak bowl and ask for the hot sauce, you won’t be disappointed!
Peggy
This is a new restaurant we thought we would try. It's very modern in decor. We really liked our food. I highly recommend the Milwaukee street corn appetizer. The reason I gave 4 stars is that the menu is very small. Hopefully it will expand in the near future. The main focus seems to be on tequila and tequila drinks.
Joseph Raleigh
The drinks are top notch. Chips were probably the best I've ever had. The tacos however were prolly the worst I've ever had. And they only offer tuna with there nachos which was is head scratching because if they offered other meats with those chips I would go there again just for that.
Sunny Daze
The food was good, but lacked season
Susan Daye
Love their margaritas and their fried Brussel sprouts. Trendy and right on the river front in Milwaukee's third ward. We love it there.
Katie Seymour
Great place with unique menu! Service was fantastic. I had the house salad with avocado, grapefruit, jicama, and a relish dressing. Others at our table enjoyed the teriyaki salmon bowl, the tuna poke bowl, and the Cuban bowl. BUT we started with fried Brussels sprouts with lime, pecans, dried mango & aioli and Milwaukee Street Corn—apps were so good.
Zak Ruggirello
Brussels sprouts appetizer was really tasty. Cocktails were well done. Entrees came out cold and service was sllloooow however they were pretty busy so I try to be understanding. They need more wait staff for sure.
R. E.
Awesome! Best brussel sprouts I've ever had!
Claire Hanan
Come for the margaritas, stay for the salmon bowl! The teriyaki salmon bowl is fantastic, as is the steak bowl and the tacos. The margaritas are always delicious - they're never too sweet - and you can't beat the riverfront location.
Jennie Steil
Loved it. Good food, simple selection we had street corn, queso, a brisket taco and an ahi tuna taco. Sharad between 2 ppl. We sat at the bar, Bartender was nice, she reminded me how to use my Boston Shaker 🤣 …
Michael Nestoras
Seriously amazing. Everything from apps, guac, sprouts, house chips to the tacos, even oyster tacos were insane. Mad props to owners and chef. Great job. We'll be back, in the meantime.. YOU MUST EAT HERE. Ps. Our server, an African American gentlemen. Absolutely amazing. Joked, smiled, made great recommendations, I wish I remember his name (ate there a few weeks ago, checking their schedule to plan my next visit accordingly). Held the door open for my family and I. Someone give him a raise.
Nicholas Gates
The quality of food from blue bat is excellent, I've had the pleasure of enjoying their tacos on multiple occasions and everytime they knock it out of the park.
The Baja, mezcal steak and smoked brisket are my favorites, I only wish they had a daily/weekly specialty taco like they did when they opened. The coffee rubbed Adobe pepper taco was amazing.
This place is definitely in my rotation for weekday lunches while downtown.
Rita Flores Wiskowski
So good! The food was outstanding. The service was spectacular. Our server was so knowledgeable and made it easy to select drinks and dinner. We went with our family, but would also be a great place for a date.
Nick Tice
The food and dinner service were great. Initial bar service was incomprehensibly bad; ignored for over 5 minutes with no eye contact or acknowledgement..... Once we got some seats... Ignored again for 5+ minuets.. Almost never write bad reviews, but this was inexcusable.
Andrew
Great spot for sampling a variety of tequilas with an educated staff.
James Wendell
Great setting right on the river and tremendous ambiance and use of converted warehouse space...the restaurant physical space is great.
Food was a unique and dynamic fusion and decently priced; however, tequila and tequila tequila drinks were expensive/very expensive for the pours received.
Will return in the summer to see how the patio setting is.
Todd Hollfelder
The Blue Bat Kitchen is fabulously trendy establishment located in Milwaukee's Old Third Ward overlooking the Milwaukee River. We were there at night, when the view of the river and lights were gorgeous. I do question the same views during the daytime since the Milwaukee River isn't known for picturesque cleanliness and can provide a bit of ambience all it's own... it's distinct aroma. The restaurant itself is spectacularly designed, a complimentary mix of modern and warmth. It's ideal for a romantic meal or an intimate gathering of friends. This particular evening I chose Blue Bat because it was on my ever expanding "bucket list" of local eateries. There was no wait list according to my app and the price range was well within my allotted budget. Unfortunately, the menu isn't designed for everyone. The cuisine is a unique twist on Latino fusion. I saw plenty of dishes I know I would have enjoyed, as it all sounded exquisite, but I selected the wrong dinner companion for this adventure. The only thing we could agree upon to try was the street corn, which was served with bacon, Mexican cheese and an awesome aioli... we both enjoyed it immensely... and, for me, it was really a teaser which left me wanting to try more. We concluded our appetizer with a wonderful shot of "bat friendly" tequila and went elsewhere for our meal. Now, I fully intend to return to the Blue Bat but accompanied by somebody with a more adventurous palate. I was also impressed with the tequila selection, 150+, and the conservational efforts the Blue Bat contributes to a bat species on the verge of extinction. This specific bat aids in the reproduction of the Blue Agave cactus that tequila is produced from. Check out the Blue Bat Kitchen and Tequilaria's website for more information.
Sierra
Favorite tacos in Milwaukee. Excellent happy hour prices. Great customer service (e.g., one afternoon service was poor, they immediately made up for it with drinks and apps on the house without us saying a word)
Jonathan Wright
This is a really top notch restaurant. The food is excellent, service is charming, and the ambience is upbeat. Its a great spot for drinks after work or dinner with the girlfriend. Im really looking forward to sitting along the river this summer and sampling some of their tequilas. The milwaukee street corn was recommended to my table, and it wouldnt normally be something i would choose, but it was absolutely fantastic.
Andy Thorson
Really great. Reasonably priced and the tuna poke nachos were incredible. Cocktails were also on point. Has a nice waterfront patio if the weather is right.
Jenny Jones
The food is delicious! Great variety for all palates! Today was my 2nd visit and I got the starter brussel sprouts for the 2nd time (OMG amazing) but different entree. Service is attentive and timely. Some items are a little over priced but it is still worth it.
Kent Silveria
Very good food and drinks located right on the river. Definitely recommend this restaurant and get one of their drinks. Afterward you can walk along the river and work off your meal.
Mike Flavin
Great food, staff, drinks, and location! Would recommend!
Tasha Paquette
Awesome drinks...delicious and refreshing. Bar staff was helpful and the food was tasty. Bold flavors and interesting combinations. Our favorite handhelds were the fried green tomato and the bao bun.
Liz Schlaefer
Amazing, authentic and a wide range of flavors. A must visit!
Kiersten Symonnè
Great food!! Literally everything we ate was amazing! Great drinks too! Nice atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back!
David Hendershott
Just had some drinks with friends, service was great
Kyle McHugh
Tacos were very good. I must say I did not try the tequila but there were a ton of options. I brought my girlfriend and we had the baja tacos, bao bao and for an appetizer the ahi tuna nachos. Best part of the meal hands down was the nachos.
Vijay Murugesan
Great bartenders! The salsa in the Chips& Salsa was meh. Like very meh. So very meh. But the Guac was good. The corn was delicious and the drinks warmed me up just right.
Lauren C. Simon
Great place! Loved the food, drinks, environment and staff. Make sure to get the FGT taco. I've never had anything quite like it, and it was delicious. Glad to have this place in Milwaukee!
Jackie
Went to Blue Bat for the first time on Cinco de Mayo. The remodeled space is bright and beautiful inside. We had some delicious and strong drinks. The fresh watermelon juice with lime, vanilla and tequila was perfectly tart and unique. We also had the Paloma made with mezcal, another winner. The tequilas we sipped were from producers who take part in the bat conservation efforts in Mexico which is super cool. We also enjoyed baja fish, curry cauliflower, and shiitake tacos, all of which had creative, unique ingredients that were fresh and delicious. We enjoyed the friendly staff and attentive manager. Can’t wait to come back for happy hour and dining outside when the patio is finished!
Shirley McMahon
Food was extremely spicy. So much so, that I wasn't able to eat much of it. This was my first time there and had no idea it would be that spicy. Despite wonderful service, I will not be returning.
Ed York
Modern take on classic dishes with an amazing tequila selection. The atmosphere is bright, yet mellow. And our server was very knowledgeable, friendly, and welcoming.
magdalena nellen
The margaritas are soooo good here! Food is yummy as well
Tony Lestan
Fantastic appetizers ....the brussel sprouts with dried mango and chipotle aioli are ridiculous. Will be here again. Good drinks too.
Samuel Crisanti
Pretty decent place for food, great place for tequila! Food was small in portion and took a bit to come out. Service wasn’t amazing but maybe it was just because I was seated outside on a nice day... the bao buns are a good different thing to try!
Gabie Campbell
Good tacos, street corn that's actually grilled on the cob, and the server gave a great suggestion for one of the tequilas to try
Jen Al
Amazing cuban bowl and fish tacos!! Our fam of 5 celebrated my husbands birthday last night. From attentive wait staff to wonderful food- it truly didnt disappointed!! We definitely will be regulars from now on!!
Tracy Davidheiser
Stopped in for a drink on the way to a Bucks game...so glad we did. The bartender, Mike, was fantastic and really knows his stuff. He heard me say I can't drink tequila straight anymore and told me it was because I didn't have good tequila and he was right! I tried a few that were great and had the blood orange drink which was fantastic!
Connor McKinnon
Max was great! Food was amazing! Scenes were gorgeous! They were even accomodating to our low carb diet! Would recommend to anyone.
Daniel Kafka
Solid drinks. Can't comment on the food which is why three stars. Also, even though they have "fall" themed drinks the feeling inside is very much a late spring high summer vibe. It would probably help if they offered 'cozier' drinks to match the weather and subdue the stark feeling inside.
Jones Nicole
Food was warm and became cold quickly. Drink was mediocre and service was a tad slow. It was downtown dining week and they were very busy. Sat at a high table by a window and was freezing.
Joe Burchill
Great food and beer. The service was spectacular service. We ate on the deck and had a great view of the river traffic on a wonderful evening. So glad we stopped. You should, too!
Abby A. Adams
Food was really good. I loved that they had a patio! Cocktails were delicious and I took some food home for the hubs who also enjoyed it. Parking was a pain, as it was graduation season, and I didn't want to pay to park.
Jessica Wicklund
Delicious street tacos (ranging from $3-$4 each). I had the carne asada, baja and chicken. The queso is to die for. Chips are homemade, seasoned and delicious. Margs were strong (pitchers range from $30-50). Waiter was helpful and explained the entire menu to us, which was actually helpful. The only downside was that none of the tacos came with rice/beans and there wasn't an option to add either one. Fun atmosphere though!
Rick Shaver
It was our first time. The host took plenty of time to explain the menu and give us his recommendations. The Fried Brussel sprouts were so good we came this close to licking the plate
Sonia Furmage
Amazing service (thanks Xavier!) and some of the tastiest tacos I have ever had! Plus you can enjoy some great tequila and help bats at the same time! We well definitly be back for more.
Ryan
This place has become one of my favorites. Blue Bat has “globally inspired street food” which basically means a party in your mouth. Great flavor combos in their handhelds, tacos and bowls. I could camp out on their shareables section of the menu for several months and not even get to the entrees. Some of my favorites: literally every shareable is a home run. Tuna poke nachos, street corn, seasonal guacamole, queso fundido. Some of my favorite tacos are any of the vegetarian (I’m not one), the Baja fish taco, the steak taco. The bowls have a ton of flavor. Favorites so far are the salmon bowl, the secret menu item: poke bowl, the Korean beef bowl. Do it!
Steve Vuckovich
Great drinks, tacos were great!
Peter Thelen
My family and I had just a wonderful dinner the other evening. Amy was our server. She was very attentive and friendly. The next time we’re visiting Milwaukee, we’ll surely be back.
Kevin Offenbacher
Anthony was so amazing. Great hospitality first time here. We are definitely coming back!
Haley Alexis
I always enjoy the food and service by waiter was kind and efficient. I was disappointed that there was not a hanging station in the restroom. Had to change my child at the table.
E. Alex Escareno
Great Hispanic fusion meals. The only thing I would add to the steak bowl I had (can't remember what it's called, but it was second on the left under handhelds) would be to drizzle some crema on top of the steak. It would pair well and obviously would come from the taco. The Milwaukee style elote (can't remember what they called it) was fantastic as well. Had bits of bacon just sitting on the crema as well. 5/5 would bring people from out of town here.
Scott Bitz
The food was delicious and the guac was one of the best I ever had. Some of the bowls are a little small if you're a bigger guy, but the handheld to bowls are well with it in both price and size.
Jake G
Great atmosphere and large selection of quality tequila. Great service by Johnny made our early dinner special. Definitely a stop again!
Doug Schommer
Food and drinks were outstanding. Handhelds are on the small side so get one more than you normally would. I will be back!
Jamie Waters
Amazing margs! I have yet to try anything off the menu I haven’t liked. We love this place because we can sit outside with our dog :)
Matt Bramm
If you like tequila...at all...go here. Seriously. Fantastic selection. Great price range. Fast service. The tacos are pretty good and the hot sauces are made in house. 👍 …
Jeff Llewellyn
The Blue Bat cocktail was refreshing and paired well with their Korean - style fried chicken wings
Josef Locke Klein
Really good drinks and service! Classy atmosphere and quite reasonable prices for the sounding quality!
Jacob D
We had the chicken fried chicken, mezcal agave steak and baja cod tacos - all were delicious. Would highly recommend this place if you are in the area. The fact that this restaurant is on the river walk is also a huge plus.

Different than your typical Mexican restaurant. Brussel sprouts were fantastic. Nice outdoor dining by water. Waiter was very patient, I had my grandkids with me.
Anna M
The food was amazing with plenty of gluten free options. Our waiter, Bentley was helpful and pleasant. I wouldn’t go if you are in a hurry but it’s worth a trip for a a wide array of food and drinks.
Sean Fennig
Kinda disappointing, not really worth the money, brussel sprouts were good though. House Margs are on tap and mine came out with all lime on top, last few sips were good though
Christina Murphy
Great vibe, awesome service, fun food and excellent tequila selection. Bartender (MG1) was fantastic!
Deborah Ethington
The salmon bowl is fabulous but my favorite thing was the fried brussel sprouts! Even if you don't like brussel sprouts, try these! The nuts and cheese sauce are so yummy.
Jim Ward
Food was good but came out slow.. Server was friendly, informative, and nice but overworked. Tables inside and out so timeliness was a challenge. Greeted promptly and thanked when we left.
Jeff Bono
The food was great. I think it is a little expensive for most people's casual lunch expectations in the 3rd Ward, but definitely worth trying! Maybe they will have some lunch option in the future. I will be going back sometime for happy hour when the weather is nicer.
Matthew Worley
Amazing experience. Love the tacos!
Scott Eisenhardt
Atmosphere is lovely. Drinks are good. The tacos and tuna poke was great. Margarita pitchers are cheaper on the south side though.
M D
Very good house margarita and the Milwaukee street corn appetizer is excellent. Great spot for drinks and appetizers.

Holy Tequila Batman! (Or whatever Batman is in Mexican. Which, I think, is 'Batman' but with a bit of an accent) I never knew this many tequilas existed, but they do - and you can try them all. Their coconut tequila drink is awesome.
I'm giving it 4 stars because my wife and I had one of our usual "I want a divorce, you disappoint me, why did I marry you, I'm sleeping with your brother" fights after we drink too much tequila. Not really the restaurant's fault, but someone's gotta take the blame and evidently EVERY OTHER THING IS MY FAULT

LOVE , LOVE , LOVE , LOVEEEEEE this place. Whenever my cousins and I go here we INSTANTLY feel at home ! I absolutely ADORE the Cajun and brisket tacos , with a margarita on the side . Appetizers to DROOL for on the menu are WITHOUT A DOUBT ; the brussels , and hush puppies....O MY GOODNESS. JUST GOOOO ALREADY LOL
Joy Hope
Nice staff, clean bathrooms
Colleen Halloran
I know this sounds weird but they have the best tortilla chips ever! Plus great service and the best Margaritas! Thanks Max for taking such good care of us tonight!
Paul Runnoe

Timothy Hansen
Decent food, fun tequila. Wish I could give 3 and a half stars because it's not quite 4 but better than 3. Only been for lunch. Worth checking out.
Gwen Addison
It was good. Service could have been better. Margaritas were good after we ask for guava syrup. Had a beef dish. Beef was a little tough.
Ian Addison
Yeah, this place is awesome. Only place of it's kind in MKE. If you like tequila then you will selection can't be beat, along with their unique cocktails. On par with that though is the food which is inventive and delivers.
Lauri Dittner
Great food served by friendly staff. variety of tequila drinks that will satisfy anyone. Outdoor tables on the Milwaukee river gives a view of a boats going by.

My friend and I had lunch at the Blue Bat today, and loved it. The service, food and drinks were all excellent. I loved the set up of the restaurant and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others.
Sky Kemmerling
The food was good and the wait was not awful. The food took a long time. If felt like they forgot about us. Everyone was very friendly
Nicholas Wittry
Do yourself a favor and get the brussel sprouts, you'll thank me later. Also best margarita ive had in a long time!
Ms. Davis
This was my 2nd time visiting blue bat. Unfortunately I was underwhelmed with my meal. It lacked seasoning and cohesion. The kimchee was bland as well. My pina colada was superb. Don't believe I'll be back anytime soon though.
William Cohen
Food was very good and service was great but the gnats in the lower level are just unbearable. They need to get it under control before I would go back.
Larry Wigal
Food was very good. Street corn appetizer was delicious.
Bryan Castillo
Awesome, creative fusion food. Superb tequila selection. The hot sauces are wonderful, you guys should sell them! Over all good time!
Brooke Whitten
Great location, yummy drinks, and delicious food! Go for happy hour because the prices are good and the food choices are all so fun to eat!!!
Jason Brooks
Delicious. A fun spin on street style tacos, but much tastier. Served a la carte. You must have the Tuna Poke Nachos.
Laura Como
The chips with "bat dust" (super yummy seasoning) and seasonal guac are my favorite! I am very picky when it comes to tortilla chips and these are easily the best I have ever had.
Tristan Petashnick
We loved this place! The staff was super friendly and the food was amazing!! Get the Tuna Poke Nachos. We will be back!!
Missy Faye
Went for the first time today, the food was AMAZING!! Had the pork belly rice bowl...the only reason they didn't receive a 5 is due to the wait staff. I'll definitely be back...the 1st time was most likely a hiccup.
The Joe Show
Awesome ambiance and great service! Bartenders are friendly and conversational, the tacos are superb, and they have 3 dollar tequila shots( hard to beat that price in the third ward)!
Connor Zaeske
Paul was a great waiter and very friendly. Excellent tacos.
Emery Farah
Simple but sophisticated tequila-forward cocktails, delicious shareables (especially the brussel sprouts), terrific outdoor dining! What more could you want?
Alaura M
Amazing! Definitely try the elote!
Laura Lee Moffett
We were able to sit at the bar. So. Much. Fun. Great margaritas, pork bowl, guacamole....yummy! Thank you.
Anthony Menzel
Atmosphere is nice, staff is nice, tequila selection is impressive, but the food is uninspiring.
Leigha Rae
Besides being out of the Baja tacos AND the lamb tacos...it was delicious and wonderful.
Katrice Vanderkin
This place is very good. The only thing I will say, is be prepared to try different foods. They change their menu a lot. So if you have a favorite don't get attached, it might change.
Benjamin Parker (About84Bears)
Excellent service and food. An expansive list of drinks as well; as well as a simplified one for people like me who will get overwhelmed otherwise. And prices definately make sense.
Siobhan Janiczek
Came for drinks and wow! The margaritas are incredible
Ramin Golchini
Great food, with interesting taco selections (try the fried green tomato). Very nice space, and seated right on the river. Great bar.
April Lozada
Food was great! I would have given it 5 stars buuuuut the server messed placing our order so it took longer than expected.
Amber
Love this place! The spicy house margarita is bomb! Food is amazing too! Great environment as well!

Some of my favorite tacos in Milwaukee! And the chips are always fresh and crispy. All the apps are good too.

Gorgeous venue, excellent location, and the food! A riot of flavors in clever combinations, perfect margaritas and friendly, attentive service. Loved!
ShyGirl 4Life
Tacos were good - tried the cajun and baja. Place was overpriced though. But the place might be good for those looking for a place with drinks and appetizers.

Kate Mrochinski
absolutely delicious and high quality!

Great margaritas but food portions are small and expensive. Oh their chips are a must have.
