Delicious 😋 food, and beer. I had a Guinness. The patty and we 6 people enjoyed the big booth. The Saturday was light and not a crowded place. Enjoy the waterfuls.

Almost all of my experiences there: I have been dining at and getting carry out from this location and the one in Old Louisville for over a year now. Delicious!! They have some of the best BBQ & ranch I've ever had! If you want a top shelf burger or anything fried this is my recommendation for Louisville. The Frickle Spears, Chicken Tenders, Fish and Chips and Hush Puppies are great. Looking forward to trying a few of their pasta dishes sometime soon. Chill tavern feel with quick and good service. Loveee this place!! Today's experience there: Today we got the beer battered onion rings to split. They were sweet and spicy at the same time. Maybe a little too much cayenne? Crunchy on the outside, but a little mushy on the inside. Not my expectation of beer battered onion rings. The service was a little lackluster today. The fish and chips that my boyfriend got today were so salty that they were almost inedible.. We both love salty things, even overly salty depending on what it is. When I say almost inedible, I am not exaggerating. This was the most salty thing I've ever tasted. The hush puppies were like rubber today. The breading was so chewy and the inside was super dry. The Scotty Stack was disappointing to say the least, the truffle fries included. I won't pay extra for those again. Regardless, this is the only bad experience I've had and I'll still go back to get items that I've always enjoyed without issue.

If you are ever looking for a FANTASTIC Sunday brunch place, go to Hillcrest Tavern! Tried it for the first time. Got the Chorizo Sausage & Gravy to split to see how it was, FANTASTIC. Such an amazing flavor. Got the breakfast with French Toast, Eggs and Sausage. This was the best breakfast I have had in a while. The Sausage spice and French Toast compliment each other so well. This is my new Sunday brunch place!!!!!

One of the best in Louisville! We stopped here on a whim and are not disappointed! Nikki our waitress is so sweet and kept up with our family of 6. We ordered kids meals(huge portions) steak and cheese, old Louisville dip and pretzels with beer cheese appetizer ( highly recommend this). I loved the loaded lemonade and their old fashioned is totally up there with the best I’ve had. Stop by you will love it 💕

Brunch was amazing! Addie has been our server a few times now and she always does an incredible job! My friend has very serious allergies and the kitchen staff always goes above and beyond. The staff here coupled with great food knocks it out of the park!!!

Stopped in for lunch with an old friend who had just moved back to Louisville. The atmosphere is fabulous. The building once housed a pharmacy and the old tin ceiling adds extra charm. Service was fast, friendly and efficient. I ordered the Old Louisville Dip and was very pleased with the juicy meat smothered in cheese. The cup of au Jus was a perfect match for the sandwich. I will definitely be back

This place is amazing! The menu is for everyone! The service was out outstanding! The food and drinks came out so fast! We had a hungry basketball team on the play offs for Super Bowl and we were seated asap and the server Autumn couldn’t of been nicer and calm. I highly recommend!

Our server was great; we had a large group but she nailed our orders and our bills (even though they were individual). Food was good, but have to give four stars because they were out of quite a few things. Overall great visit!

We were having a bachelorette party in Louisville and stopped here to get dinner. Not only were the food and drinks ABSOLUTELY delicious, the service was INCREDIBLE! We had the pleasure of having Scott tend to us and he was so helpful with all things Louisville /Kentucky and amazing to our party. My sister (the bride) had an absolute blast and I have Scott to thank! The best service I have ever had at an establishment! Any time we drive from Wisconsin through Kentucky, we will be going out of our way to stop here! Everyone should come here! Highly recommended!

Wish I still lived on Frankfort avenue because Hillcrest Tavern would be my spot! First visit was 2 weeks ago and had the best wings that I had to go back last night to make sure. Buffalo wings were on point yet again. .75 cents on Sunday and Monday provided a nice crowd for a Sunday. Didn’t even know about the back patio, so I can’t wait for warmer weather! Also shoutout to Steven for being a great server. Potatoskinreviews will be back again very soon!

First time here. Nice large neighborhood bar and restaurant. outside patio seating too. Lots of bourbon and good beer selection. Bar food done up a bit. I had burger with goat cheese and carmalized onions. My husband had crab cake appetizer.crabby and tasty. Cozy booths, spread apart nicely . Server efficient. Bartender had to double to serve food. As usual at this time minimal staff but they handled it well.

That was really good! They have a lot of different choices and most sounded so good. They might be a little pricey but you soon realize they were worth it. The funny thing , I saw this guy walk in and immediately I knew he must have been the owner or a manager. The owner was right. Nice guy but I didn't say anything negative. I just joked a little with him. Definitely want to go back. I'm sure evening hours are quite profitable. And I'm sure they have their business to where this review of this place won't matter. Like Friday and Saturday nights are swamped. I'm pretty sure of that. Just set back and enjoy if you decide to go.

One of our favorite places in Louisville! Excellent menu, fantastic cocktails and great service. And there’s parking and we’ve never had to wait for a table (which is crazy, this place should be perpetually packed!!). Go there now!!!

Our lunch group met there this past week. First time back since pandemic our server was a pro. Food was great. Wedge, sliders, and French onion soup were all complimented at our table.

Perfect brunch after church. Can't remember the actual name of what I ordered.... Country boy? It was hash browns, topped with a fried agg and smothered in sausage gravy. I wish I could have eaten it all, but I had ALOT to do and didn't want to hit the couch and nap. Perfect comfort food! Only improvement I can suggest would be warmer coffee. Server was very friendly and efficient! Definitely will be back next Sunday!

My Opinion

The food was really good the service was exceptional but the environment was awesome. The choice beer menu was really nice too. Actually having a craft beer menu to look at believe it or not it's not that common so that was very nice.

Visited The Hillcrest Tavern for lunch today. I had the hand breaded tenders and fries. My food was delicious and the portions were more than enough for lunch. My friend had the special sandwich of the day, he loved it. The bartender, Carmen was attentive and professional. I’ll definitely be back.

Good food, cold beer, attentive and friendly service. Highly recommend. We had the sliders, wings, pretzels and beer cheese, onion rings and crock of tomato soup... it was all delicious. We will definitely be back again and again.

I came in on Sunday, 01/19/2020 for an evening meal with my wife and to watch the NFL playoff games. I got the rosemary roast beef sandwich with au jus, my wife got the sliders. Both entrees came with 🍟's, it was delicious and really fresh. The service was great as well and even though they were quite busy, we felt our server did an awesome job. We'll definetly be back.
