Reviews of Market Street Café

Affordable, delicious place in downtown Las Vegas. Do yourself a favor and try their oxtail soup at least once in your life. They only serve it after 9PM though and it usually has a long line but worth every wait. If you dont have a big party just go straight to the bar, you can order it from there. All other food they serve are delicious too and cheap.

Came in the morning for steak and eggs. Over medium eggs cooked perfectly, steak to me had a somewhat odd texture/taste but not bad, great coffee. Before flying home I stopped back in for the oxtail soup. It had a very familiar taste and reminded me of my mom stew. It was very tasty and I appreciated the freshest ginger that was served along with it. I’ll be back.

I have been coming her for years, 14+ ever since a friend introduced me to the oxtail soup special. I don't go that often now but definitely a good place to go.
You absolutely have to try the oxtail soup, it's what they are known for. Only served from 9pm-close now due to the pandemic.
Las Vegas used to be known for a number of things, one of them being prime rib specials. That is no longer the case and prime rib is difficult to find and it is expensive now and that was before the pandemic set in.
The good news is the California Hotel/Market Street Cafe is one of 2 of my go-to places for prime rib. You also get a choice of soup or salad, veggies, a side of rice or potatoes, and cherries jubilee for desert. Pretty good deal.
Sometimes there is a bit of a wait but I don’t go on weekends or holidays and try to go in off peak hours.

This place is inside the California hotel and casino. It serves both regular diner food and Hawaiian and Asian dishes. I enjoyed their chicken wings and short rib appetizers. They have daily specials and I tried their chicken katsu and Ox tail stew (they also have a famous soup but served after 9pm). Both were delicious but the chicken katsu needed a better dipping sauce. They gave me A1 but a gravy or plum sauce would have made the dish perfect.
I liked that this is one of the few places I've eaten at that is still full capacity. They are busy but the lines move quickly. Great variety and good prices. 5 Stars.

We came here for the Oxtail soup but was equally blown away with their chili dish and their prime rib dinner (great prime rib at a great price). This was my first time at the California hotel and I was digging the island theme vibe. Hawaiian shirts and friendly staff makes for an awesome combo. Parking validation is easy as long as you spend at least $30 for dinner and the parking lot was easy to find a spot on a Sat night at around 8pm.
Also, after validation you get up to 4 hours to enjoy the festivities outside and explore the downtown area.
I do recommend coming to the Market Street Cafe between 8-8:30 if you're going to try the Oxtail soup as that starts at 9 and a fairly long line starts to form at around 9 (lastly, I can see what the fuss is all about as I don't know anywhere else in town that can serve this kind of delicious oxtail soup). Come on down, enjoy a piece of the Las Vegas downtown experience and bon appetit!

Oxtail soup is their specialty that many regular customers come back for. A must try for newcomers. They only serve it starting 9pm until sold out or around 3am. $16.99 per serving *(as of July 2022) including a small bowl of rice. I am sure you can ask for more rice if not enough. Line seemed to be long but they moved very quickly. Call first. Parking is free with validation from the restaurant.

Wow the food was really good. We are there twice in the same day! Right off Fremont. Super nice staff and generous portions!

THE PLACE TO BE for amazing Hawaiian food in Vegas. They serve the iconic OXTAIL soup from 11 pm - 3 am. No need to purchase an airline ticket to Hawaii. MARKET STREET CAFE transports you back to the islands.

Wow, all these years visiting Vegas and I had no idea this wonderful Hawaiian eatery was here! It's a hidden gem indeed. Nothing about the hotel name (California Hotel) not the restaurant name would indicate it's a haven for Hawaiin cuisine. Super delicious Ox Tail stew, Portuguese sausages and loco moco! Enjoy!!!
