Reviews of Cap City Fine Diner and Bar
Diana Smith
This was a great spot for our dysfunctional family to have dinner. First, there’s a full bar, second the food is great and there’s something for everyone and third the service is outstanding. I had the salmon with stick rice, trying to be somewhat healthy. It was delicious. The blue cheese chips as a starter was a crowd pleaser. The cocktails were fantastic. Our server was attentive without being distracting l. And to finish we had the peanut butter pie which was so good. The manager came out a couple time to make sure we were being taken care of which was a nice touch. I highly recommend this upscale diner!

For the record it's one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always good. The service was good. I love the meatloaf melt, it's a sandwich that hits the spot for me. The Reuben is also excellent and the fish sandwich is one of the best in the city. They make the best chili I've had with chunks of tender sirloin steak and would not hesitate to order anything else from them. The desserts are really good and I love their creme brulee. The complementary roles were over proofed and a bit over done - not the best I've had from them. The interior is clean but the exterior could be updated. I'll be back for sure.

Very impressed with this place loved the decor and the server was wonderful. I had the pecan crusted pork chops and they were cooked perfectly and not dry like so many places tend to over cook. Also had a dirty martini and was thrilled to find someone that knew how to make it correctly. Wedge salad was also great had plenty of leftovers. Would definitely go again if ever in this area! The Martini did have a few blue cheese stuffed olives just didn’t make the pic!

Huge dining area. Service was great. You can get breakfast, lunch,or dinner for your selection. We had five breakfast choices that were given thumbs up. Nice choice for family dining ,too.

Cap City Diner was an amazing experience through and through. The energy of the environment is very relaxed and fun, and wait staff was a pleasure to talk to. The options here are endless, the hot pretzel is huge and tastes great, and the blue cheese chips are surprisingly delicious. Along side their great selection of shakes, I got the cap city club and enjoyed it very much. I can’t wait to come back here again!

This was one of THEE best experiences at a local diner. We made reservations and there was no wait. The salmon with the stir-fry vegetables were sooo yummy. The meat loaf was good and the beef stroganoff was missing a little something on the flavor. The blue cheese chips and wings were delectable. The bar tenders, Hannah and Savannah (not twins, lol) were friendly! Can't wait to return!
Josh Brennan
Good, fast food. Friendly service. Chicken potpie special is pictured. You can't quite tell from outside but inside has a greasy spoon diner kind of feel. Pretty cool. You get plenty of food and you won't have to wait around. American fare, nice and clean.
Jon Jolivette
We love eating here. It’s like fine dining without the fine dining price. Food is always so flavorful and cooked to perfection. The meatloaf is one in a million.
Sonya Priest
We got a carryout order of Meatloaf, Romano Crusted Chicken, 24k Carrot Cake and 2 Lemondrop Martini's to go. Everything was spectacular, even an hour later when we ate it. Leftovers the next day we're still just as good. This was on a Friday night at 5:30. It was hands down the best food we've gotten in a long time. Great experience!
Melissa Nikohl
I was staying in the hotel next door and noticed how busy this place was so I had to try it! I tried their blue cheese chips, they weren't bad. The ribeye was delicious. If I'm ever in town again, I'd come back and try the meatloaf.
Amanda Lockhart
Wonderful service and excellent food. This was a birthday dinner and we were given a dessert on the house for my birthday. We will be back!! Loved everything!
steve wright
Sat at the bar on a Thursday around 6pm. The bartenders were nice, they have a good selection of cocktails, and beers.
Their special for Thursdays is pot roast. It was amazing. Easily the best pot roast I've ever had.
Lee Farlow
Our first time here, AMAZING! Megan was our server and she also was AMAZING! The food is out of this world. We got the pretzel for an appetizer and the sauces are AMAZING, the dinners are AMAZING. All in all, 5 starts AMAZING! And yes, 6 “AMAZING’S” on this review!
Patrick Brennan
I love Cap City diner. It will most likely be one of the most well run diners you will ever experience. They do a ton of business. I have ordered about 7 different dinner options and have always had a good meal. The "diner" part is a bit misleading. As Cap City Diner is much more like a restaurant feel. Cozy, good atmosphere, great place to be out for a meal with a significant other, family, or business.
The menu is not voluminous. Which, I appreciate. Whatever meals they make there are done very well.
I don't have a particular favorite, but the last time I went I needed that meatloaf. So good. I believe garlic toast, with meatloaf atop. Then mashies, topped with crispy onion fizzles. A savory sauce surrounds that beautiful mound, with a few pieces of fresh broccoli on each flank! Soooooo good!
Margaret Miller
Amazingly friendly and kind staff with an authentic diner feel. Very vegetarian friendly as everything is made to order. Our server, Kristin, was kind and attentive and guided us through our dietary restrictions. Order the pretzel and beer cheese when you’re here, you won’t regret it.
Darin
First time at Cap City Fine Diner and Bar. It was an overall excellent experience from the service, scrumptious hot and sour calamari appetizer to our dinners. We’ll definitely be back.
Trav Corron
this place has a reputation in columbus for having some of THE best eats in the city. and yet i've never been! so when date night came around, i was thrilled to have a chance to finally check it out.
first off: get reservations ahead of time. this place is BUSY. hour waits aren't uncommon. but we didn't have to wait very long since we reserved a table. i'd definitely say that's the way to go.
the menu is chef curated, and there are definitely some interesting combinations on the menu (with, from what i could tell, no substitutions). but there's absolutely something for everyone. i got the meatloaf melt because i have heard GREAT things about the meatloaf here, and my date got the spicy chicken rigatoni. both of us were absolutely satisfied with our selections; the rigatoni is a HUGE portion size packed with meat, pasta, mushrooms, and veggies, while the meatloaf melt is so thick that posting pictures of it could be qualified as a thirst trap.
service was excellent and attentive too. it felt like every phase of dining we had multiple people helping us out. and that's despite it being a packed house at 8pm on a weekday. they nailed the 50s americana aesthetic, and you feel like you're in a classic traincar diner despite the building being far bigger and nowhere near as cramped.
overall, this is a place where the reputation precedes itself, and with good reason. be ready for a busy restaurant that doesn't feel busy, a time capsule from another era, and a delicious food experience, all at once. A++ work, absolutely deserves the glowing reviews it gets.
Melissa Holbrook
The restaurant has a unique vibe. A mix between a 50s diner and an upscale bistro in a city. I had their version of a rum runner and it was really good. For dinner I had the chicken pot pie. But it has a twist, it’s not a pie at all. It was uh-making. Also there was an order of spicy chicken rigatoni. I’ve never tried anything like it but I loved it. They have a really creative menu. I’m sad that I live so far away because this would definitely be put on my normal rotation.
Alexus Vogel
The Ruben was delicious! Savannah the bartender was a sweet heart and attentive. Not in the area often but definitely suggest this place! Lots of menu options
Andru Voss
Great place. Kinda uppity in vibes... not too pricey but the food was definitely amazing and the staff was super friendly.
Olivia Borawski
The rolls where ok. I got the spicy chicken rigatoni and it was pretty good tho not very spicy. The milk shakes looked really good and they give you a lot of it.
Nicole Maxwell
Wanted to try something different while in Columbus with mom and we both loved the food! The dessert was amazing also. The staff is very friendly and the place overall was hands down gorgeous! Food is very pricey, but well worth it. Would recommend to anybody and will definitely be stopping by again if I am the Columbus area.
Kathy Pritchard
We always enjoy our meals at Cap City Diner. This time we celebrated our anniversary with dinner and complimentary dessert.
John Croyle
Cap City diner on Olentangy River road is a traditional birthday stop for our family. The food is excellent the service is very fine and the atmosphere is pleasant. Be sure to mention your birthday for a complimentary dessert and I recommend the incredibly large delicious chocolate cake.
Jessica Williams
Calimari appetizer. Very nice. Tender calamari and veggies julienned. Nothing over cook. Salmon entre, very tasty. Good service reasonable prices. Will definitely return when in Columbus next.
John Siedenberg II
A nicer feeling diner experience. The food was good, our server was a little overwhelmed but she was excellent and attentive. A good meal all around!
Lauren Stewart
The food was so good. We got the blue cheese chips which so delicious. Then we got Mac n cheese for the kids which they loved. I got the spinach apple salad with chicken. My husband got the pecan crusted pork chops which was good but the portion was so large. 2 ppl could have shared his entree. Overall food and service was good. Will recommend for families.

Visiting Columbus for the 1st time, easy walk from Battelle and the Hyatt. Staff was wonderful and attentive, food was great. Ate here twice, yep.
Dave Moehle
I wish I had known about this place before my last day in Columbus, because I would have eaten here every day! Fantastic food and atmosphere and even better service!

Cap City is nothing fancy but really well made food. The fact it’s the 3rd longest running Cameron Mitchell restaurant says a lot. For years it has been the one that’s least expensive and most casual. That approach has served this location very well.
Great Ruben. The Ponzu glazed salmon is so good we got the recipe. Blue cheese chips are always amazing. Famous for their meatloaf and giant chocolate cake dessert.
It’s become a local staple if you want some drinks and a quick bite or take the family out for a sit down without breaking your wallet.
Ana Elizabeth Ruelas Lopez
Excellent food and service!
The place has a great ambiance!
The menú is very simple but offers something for every taste.
The dessert menu is amazing! I wanna go back! I had an awesome experience.
Maria Saborio

Solid restaurant, I liked the ambience. I recommend the blue cheese chips.

Food was cooked and presented very well. Tasted great. Had the pretzel and cheese and it was very soft and delicious. Had the pecan crusted porkchops. Very good and tasty. The only bad thing was the pork chop got a little dry at the end. Ordered the chocolate cake and was huge and tasted very good.
James Gottliebson
We were greeted as if we were old friends, pleasantly and welcoming. Service was good and prompt. Our meals were excellent. My wife had liver (on doctors orders following her release from the hospital) and I had an astounding Chicken Romano; flavorful and perfectly crispy.
Update: Met a group of friends for dinner. Very busy. On recommendation I ordered the tamarind chicken wings, which were outstanding. Good portion size, too.
Patricia Lenoir
I *really* liked Cap City Diner for a boatload of reasons. We were fortunate to get outdoor seating in their wonderful patio (reservations recommended). The ambience there was quite nice, and even though it was a hot day, we were sheltered from the sun and privy to cross-ventilation that made our COVID radars relax as well.
Adamou Bello
Was looking for a place with comfort food and diners are the best. This is not your ordinary diner with large comfortable booths and a large dining area. Our reuben and burger were both very good and my milk shake was not calorie free but very tasty. Great place for classic comfort food in an upscale diner setting.
Tom Bainbridge
Always great food. They have the best fish and chips in the city. They use the cod loin for this dish which makes it the best. Meatloaf - i do not like meatloaf and Cap City changed me forever. Black and Blue Salmon Salad - hell yea!
Please mix up the specials...
Robin Ricker
I had the meatloaf which is always a good choice and the outstanding carrot cake which is some of the best in town! I shared the piece of cake with my two other friends and still had a lot that I brought home. The service was spot on from the hostess who seated me to our very attentive and accommodating server Alex! Thank you!
Jeff Russell
We have heard of it many times, tried to go a few times. Well, the reservation was so worth it. Delicious brunch foods, good Sunday funday drinks, and very good service as well. Very friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend. And honestly, no need to suggest a meal. If it looks or seems good to you, order it. It will be 👍. …
Sophia Edgerton
My husband LOVED the pecan crusted pork chops (they were a little thick for my taste), and I loved the Romano chicken. It felt very fair for the price. The creole soup was amazing but very small for the price. Lemon Caesar salad is just a regular one with lemons to squeeze so that was disappointing
Lynn Heimlich
Loved the food. Really loved the bourbon and water cocktail. The blue cheese chips appetizer was great. The service was very good. There were a lot of people there and the tables seemed a little too close together. Every time the person at the next table got up, her handbag whacked me. It would have been nice to have enough room for people to get up and move around.
Ray McClure
My famil went here for a quick dinner and it was very fun. The employees were very nice but we had some problems getting help when we needed it. The food was very good but it comes in big portions and I had to get a box. The atmosphere is very good and it's like you've been transported to the 50s.
Lynne O
This is my first experience at Cap City, and it was DELICIOUS!! I had the meatloaf, and it was awesome. My friend and I split a piece of the chocolate cake, and they kindly served it on two plates. The photo is of the two halves!!! Best chocolate cake I think I’ve ever had. Great waitress and comfortable place to be.
J Sauler
It's consistently a great experience all around every time I go here. Best pork chops I've ever had in my life. As a bonus, do yourself a favor and ask to be sat near the kitchen where you can watch them go! It's highly impressive how quickly and efficiently they work! It's like a well-oiled machine with all the gears turning in sync! I can't wait to go back again!
Neil Rupp
Gluten Free Rueben…so good. Glad they finally upgraded the bread—better than ever! Could have used a little more sauce on the sandwich to counter the slight dryness of the gf bread, but still one of my favs.👍
Jennifer Reminder
I feel that at their price point fries should be fresh. Toasted sandwiches should be toasty and not soft, and the parmesan cheese should be shredded or shaved and not shaker grated. The taste was there, but I feel maybe the timing was off on how plates went up
Terry Nicholson
Went here with three friends. I have been to Cap City many times. Never experienced the legendary meatloaf and mashed potatoes till now. Unbelievably great. The portion is huge.
I suggest you make a reservation.
Gabe M
The seating took a little while, but it was made up for by the friendly staff, and charming feel of the place. There's a viewing window where you can see the back of house staff working which is very entertaining. The bathrooms have the foot openers which is wonderful for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
Cathy Hardin
My extended family brought me here for my birthday. It had been quite a while since I had been there. Server was attentive and service was on point. Dinner was exceptionally delicious as well as the amazing dessert (carrot cake) that I had to take some of it home.
Jennifer Wondracek
I have been here many times, and I have never had a bad experience or bad food. My favorites are the balsamic chicken and the romano encrusted chicken. And you must try the blue cheese chips!
They also have covered patio seating, but I generally recommend a reservation because this is a popular restaurant.
Nicholas Hood
Being from the east coast I shy away from “diners” having had my fair share of late night meals of any regrettable variety, but I finally came to this local favorite. Well first off, it’s pretty indulgent, so come here for comfort food and little more! Plenty of their dishes have a sweet kick, and or a big savory presence, and food comes fast and in great portion. It’s definitely a very nice diner as far as diners go.

Wondeful Customer Service From OUR bartender! Best Calamari, Tamarindo wings, and great Salads. Shrimp Linguine Pasta was good, a Lil salty:)
Brock Holst
Great happy hour with food and drink selections are more than ample! Bartenders are attentive. Only problem is that it can be hard to find a seat, which is a good indication of how popular their happy hour is.
Erick Johnson
Great place for lunch or dinner. The food is good without being over the top. The service is prompt and friendly, and the food portions will not leave you hungry. Overall, a nice, laid-back kind of place.
Gail LaFong
Ordered take out for our hotel stay. Menu is available online and online ordering is also available. The have gluten free menu also. A large varied menu with lots to choose from. Kids menu too. We had the meatloaf which the bbq gravy is very tasty and would say broccoli needed cooked a little longer as stalks were very crunchy. Gluten free Salmon was really good. Pretzel is the bomb though we didn't like either the beer cheese nor the honey mustard but we also had the gluten free cheese chips that came with alfredo sauce so we dipped pretzel in the alfredo sauce absolute deliciousness! Try the desserts too you won't believe how good they taste!
Todd Travis
Great atmosphere and service- food is good too with moderate price
Lynn Guittar
My son and I ate at the 🍸 we enjoyed winding down and dinner with Cap City. Salmon and snap peas especially were outstanding. The meatloaf dinner was great 👍
Dawn Garrett
This place is amazing. It has been spectacular every time I've come. Excellent service. Really friendly people work here. And the food and their attention to allergies is off the charts fantastic. I cannot recommend it highly enough. And they have dishes that you normally just cannot get gluten free. Like a cheese steak sandwich and beer battered fish and chips. Love love love it here! And they are very careful with allergies. When you come at dinner they even have dinner rolls that are gluten free. Today I came on a Sunday afternoon and they had fresh hot delicious cinnamon rolls. This place is the best. Wish I didn't live an hour and a half away.
Kristen Christie
I took my dad to Cap City with our family for his birthday dinner. We had Liam as our server and he was the best server I have ever had! He made our experience perfect! Thank you Liam!
Justine Buda
I was part of a large group during restaurant week and the food was amazing as always! I’m usually worried going to a place I know I like during restaurant week because it’s so busy but they did a great job. I got the Romano crusted chicken with the chocolate cake for dessert. So good!
Jarrod Martin
This place should be on one of those tv shows as a hidden gem. It was exceptional! Everything from the atmosphere to the taste of the food was awesome. Highly recommend the meatloaf sandwhich.
Scott O'Donnell
Fantastic food for a great price. The service was outstanding. Wish we lived closer so I could be a regular
Kyle B
The perfect lunch spot. I only say that because I've only ever been there for lunch since it's close to my office and I live far outside town. I can only believe it's a great dinner spot as well. I like to try something new off the menu every place I go more than once. More often than not I get burned by that mindset, sadly. My fault for liking variety in life, I suppose. Not at Cap City though, every time I get something different, it becomes my new favorite dish. The one constant, because I love blue cheese, is their blue cheese salad. It's amazing. At my last visit I got the walleye blue plate special (pictured) and I couldn't have been happier. Cap City will continue to be one of my go to spots.
Tari Heath
Fantastic menu choices and good preparation. I've returned here four times although I live over an hour away. Loved the deep dish apple pie and raspberry pie! Pork chops best ever had!
Mary Jane McMullin
Always very good. Was a little disappointed that they don't have all the usual Desserts, but the Creme Brulee was Amazing!! 🤩 Our server; while she was able to meet our needs, I didn't get that super comfortable feeling that I seek. Maybe a bad day, but you could feel her negative energy. Yikes! Otherwise, the Pecan crusted pork chop, with mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach with onions and tomatoes hit the spot. Well worth the 45 minute drive.
Jesus Rubio
Very clean hospitable warm atmosphere. I enjoyed everything about this place. Just make sure you have enough coin for this place. Between my co-workers and I, average tab around $30 - $40. Well worth it though.
Todd Ebright
Good is always really good. Someone's the staff forgets about you. But are generally really friendly. Just wanted one more drink refill!
Edward Peterson
This was our first time to dine here and was impressed by the service and the food. The fish and chips were terrific! The salmon was divine! The coleslaw was the best I have had in a sit down restaurant here in the Columbus area. The chocolate covered peanut butter pie is to die for. Will be back to get another slice!
Joe Kaufman
Seemed like a nice place. Sat at the bar because table and booth seating was being reserved for reserved business meetings. Bartender was nice. The whole restaurant smelled like sewer water from the moment we walked in. Kinda gross and did not set a good first impression. Ordered the lunch trio but only the soup and salad came out. Expensive entre and drink prices aimed to the corporate expense accounts and upscale dining. Would go if someone wanted to meet there but not sure I would go on my own as a first choice in the area.

Cap City Diner located at 1299 Olentangy River Rd, Columbus, OH 43212. I Recently stayed at The Varsity Inn on Olentangy River Rd. Made the mistake of going to an establishment next door for dinner, needless to say it was horrible, sat on my stomach like a brick. A friend of mine recommended The Cap City Dinner. Went there for lunch the next day, I placed an order an order to go, the hostess was very kind and suggested that I take a look around. She said they had just completed renovations top to bottom. I must say I was throughly impressed. Went back to my room and the food was just as impressive. I had the Romano Crusted Chicken, - crispy fried chicken, garlic buttered noodles, roasted tomato cream sauce, to sum it up in one word - superb. It's a little pricey but worth every penny. Next time I'm in Columbus, I will be returning.
Ed Ralston
Wonderful experience, nice atmosphere food was incredible!
Clara Baggett
My huge team came here and they did a fantastic job of serving us all. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and fast. I highly recommend the pork chops, easily enough food for 2 or 3 people. Don’t miss out on the desserts too!
Tim Cornell
Good food and great service the atmosphere is cool wish I could remember our waiters name he did amazing 👏
Carrie A
Been here 3 times now and loved this place each of them! They have a great gluten free menu. The steak was juicy and tender as were the vegetables. They have a creme brulee with strawberries and whip cream especially for people that dont eat gluten. It's absolutely delicious. The bar tender was great, knowledgeable about the menu and friendly. Definitely a 5/5 experience.
Jason Kristi Altman
This place was recommended to us by a co-worker and I am glad it was! The food was fantastic. The meatloaf is a staple and it is filling. We tried the desserts as well and they don't kid around! The banana bread pudding was sooo good! Check this place out for sure!!!
Betsy Page
We had the pork chop and walleye as well as the blue cheese chips, all of which were fantastic. Our waiter Brian took excellent care of us and we were even seated by the fireplace which was nice since we were celebrating a special occasion.
We didn't have room for chocolate cake at the end so we took some home and it was the richest chocolate cake I've had with super dense buttercream.
Keith Cavey
This place is a must-visit on every trip to Columbus. Every meal I've had here has been superb, and it's not an overstatement to say that the pork chops are the best I've ever had. Service has always been friendly and prompt. Try to save room for their excellent desserts!
Steve Bertman
Good place for a little "something for everyone" . They have some really cool special items they put a great twist on, blue cheese potato chip starter, for one. Every thing here is done well, all four of us that ate here were very satisfied. The desserts look fabulous, but we just didn't have the room. Good for family, friends, or a date.
Betty Welch
You cannot beat Happy Hour at the bar. The Bartenders are excellent and friendly. The food is phenomenal.
Angie Morrow
1st time there. Waitress seemed kinda impatient & irritated. Food was ok but nothing I'd have to have again. They did have a huge piece of cake for my husbands birthday which was nice but again I don't think we will be back
Jonathan duru
It was a cool experience, was out with the family and decided to check cap city fine diner out and they delivered as expected
Rochelle Stapp
I have Celiac and have finally expanded beyond the gluten free burger. The fish and chips were amazing and the staff is so knowledgeable. I love the gluten free bread.
Rosemarie Craycraft
Always love this place, prefer this location over Dublin. Seems to be better service here. Was a little disappointed on this last visit. Got served sweet sugar covered rolls without being told by the waitress. I'm diabetic. Ordered a Greek salad and it was practically dry of dressing. Asked the waitress if there was dressing on the salad, "oh, yeah". No offer to bring a side of dressing. Just blew me off. Had to ask for the plain rolls. Had to ask for butter. It just seemed like I was being the pain, and I hate that feeling. If I'm asking questions, then the server should anticipate that I might need something else. But hey, that's probably just ME!
John Bunderson
Portion sizes are large, flavor is even bigger. We enjoyed the blue cheese chips, meatloaf, and especially the balsamic chicken. Afterwards we took a 24K cake to go. Thank you for a wonderful meal and fun atmosphere. Really enjoyed the 80's music.
Only noteworthy issue was the shrieking sound of the kitchen door when opened by staff. It really bothered one of my dinner guest as he described it, it sounded like a pterodactyl swooping was swooping in to devour him. Not my concern I had a great experience, but for his sanity (which we know is gone, because dinosaurs are extinct) please oil the hinges to stop the squeal.
David Beimesch
meatloaf was pink inside, salad didn't have enough dressing, broccoli on meatloaf plate was cold, server was great
Rhonda Jean “Rhonda Jean” Ebert
It was a great place to catch up with friends over lunch
Spiel Stevenburg
My parents and I again. I had cheddar cheeseburger, the best I can recall ever having. My father had the mountain of meatloaf, my mom had the club sandwich. All 3 of us were pleased with the food; the club and loaf were less than half eaten so they will be enjoyed for another meal. The atmosphere was "young" for my octo- parents (esp. the music) but the food and attentive service made up for that. Their blue plates daily will tempt us to return often!
John Eshleman
Fabulous food fabulous service! You don't want to skip this great place for an outstanding evening of eating great meals drinks and desserts. Leave room for dessert you will not regret that decision. I cannot believe how reasonably priced this place is. I highly recommend this place.
Courtney Colles
Their food never disappoints and those Brunch Cinnamon Sugar Rolls with cream cheese Icing?! Drooling! Highly recommend to anyone needing a great place for brunch!
Nick E.
Love the ambience. We got seated and fed in less than 45 minutes! Definitely coming back 👍🏽 …
Tim Holt
Everything was delicious and picture perfect for the whole table. Really enjoyed the southern fried chicken!
Candace Norris
I have not been here in years and MOLLIE made it an amazing time. I hope they name the drink the Mollie!! I met a few nice people there too. Those wings were amazing.
Madeline Spruill Cononge
Delicious food, clean restaurant and cool atmosphere. My husband and I don’t usually get dessert out but when we saw the peanut butter pie we couldn’t pass it up-and SO glad we didn’t. Best (and biggest) peanut butter pie ever!
Nikki Lesley
Great service, amazing food! We stopped in on. Thursday evening and waited 20 minutes to be seated. Rolls were brought to the table right away, appetizers and drinks were brought quickly and the mail courses didn't take long either. All of the food was well prepared!

cap city has slowly declined over the years. the dessert menu is so bland now. they used to have amazing and more unique desserts such as upside down banana cream pie and blackberry silk pie. now it's just the same boring desserts.
they are pretty reliable for doordash, but they price gouge AND charge a delivery fee. they don't pay for the delivery, so that's pure profit for them. yes, doordash charges them a fee but it's pretty lame to put that all on the customer considering doordash increases their profits. I guess Cameron needs a private yacht if he doesn't have one already. they also don't allow instructions which is annoying.
they make so much money they don't care to even respond to reviews anymore.
Rachel Zandieh
Everything was really great. Our server was great too. My only suggestion is that you wait until the guest responds to, "how is everything?", before starting to walk off. To be fair, it was a busy Sunday. That's my only suggestion.
Gentle John
We had an excellent dinner. I highly recommend the strawberry shortcake for dessert.
Tami2u
Chicken breast dinner was delicious with mashed potatoes. The meatloaf was unremarkable although plentiful. It was very dense and not tasty.
Heidi Campbell
The waitress was great we had 10 people total abd she did a great job making sure we needed nothing. Highly recommend.

Nice place.. nice waiter.. I ordered meat loaf.. the food was WARM... the meatloaf was UNCOOKED in the middle.. I took it home and fi ished cooking it. Very disappointed for the cost
Adaunte Jackson
There was a waiter here his name was luke he was totally cool The Buns we’re amazing and the food was delicious Definitely a good place to try 👌🏾 …
John Stone
Always a great place to visit for literally any meal. The food is great, the prices are reasonable and you’ll never leave on an empty stomach 😀
Brent French
First time there. The food was delicious. Staff was very friendly. I will definitely be going back. I suggest you check it out.
Anthony Carsey
Food was great and Liam was an amazing server! Made excellent recommendations. Very knowledgeable of the menu. 10/10 😁😁
J Johnson
It is often difficult to find good vegetarian options at restaurants, but the veggie entree here is among the best meals I have had pre- or post- vegetarianism.
Gregory Carter
Great food great staff great atmosphere, went with some friends in from out of town they raved!
David Boyer
Best meatloaf that I have ever had! Would definitely recommend stopping here. Made reservations in the morning and was seated within 3 minutes of checking in. I will be back.
Mara Gibby
The food was wonderful and plentiful. Our server was knowledgeable, pleasant, and prompt.
Andy McCauley
Visited this location last Saturday night. Megan was our server and she was fantastic! The food is always top notch, highly recommend the Fish and Chips. Maytag blue cheese chips and chocolate cake. I recommend making a reservation, it can get very busy. Nice place for a upscale casual experience
Morgan Wells
the horseradish was too pure, had to cut it with ketchup. 10/10 would recommend fr the fish sandwich is really good
Alexandra Dotson
We had a party of six. Service was attentive and food came out quickly. Everything tasted amazing. I got the trio and would bet they have some of the best classic chicken salad in the city. My sister had the spinach quiche and enjoyed it. My husband had the hash and said the meat was pretty good. They start you with amazing cinnamon topped rolls and they have awesome spicy bloody marys
RB Urban
Met with friends at the Grandview location. One person had not experienced Cap City. We all enjoyed our individual lunch selections. The salmon salad and roasted vegetables became two meals. Clam chowder nicely done; creamy and flavorful. Light touch! Not heavy. We all agreed next time we order dessert first.
Liam and Mason were exceptional staff; available but not intrusive. Cap City never disappoints.
Andrew Steiner
While it is a pricey "Diner" they offer a full bar with excellent bartenders and amazing service. The balsamic chicken was amazing and the cocktails were on point as well. Looking forward to going back.
Tanisha thomas
Dinner was good! The selection suprised me. They have a little of everything on the menu. I loved my soup, salad and The Chicken pasta dish I ordered and the desert selection was amazing !!! We got the pie of the day (Peach)
Sean Hathorn
Date night can be hit or miss when choosing a place to dine. Cap City is always a place where I know my wife and I will have a good time. Sarah was an amazing wait staff. Knowledgeable about the menu, she was able to guide us to the perfect order. The manager came by to make sure we were fine. We are definitely coming back. Make sure you get a reservation!
Chase Heath
The food was amazing service was a little slow do to not having a reservation but overall an amazing meal
Devin Slegeski
Truly perfect. From Menu and preparation to service and management, all was exceptional.
Peggy Rhoades
Enjoyed the atmosphere, everyone very helpful. Waitress was very quick and pleasant. My only complaint was the dinner, ordered the Meatloaf dinner, I was very disappointed. Don't know what kind of filler they use, but was gritty and hard to even find any hint of the flavor of meat. I took my leftover home thinking it might be just me but got the same reaction from family member.
Jon Doe
Wonderful experience. Bar staff was amazing and did great with how busy it was. Food was amazing (the porkchops where phenomenal) and drinks were delicious as well. If your willing to spend a little extra, then this is a great place for a nice dinner date without feeling like you should have worn a suit!
Ian Ballard
I love me a Reuben, and unsurprisingly Cameron Mitchell does it well. Well done meat, right level of dressing, and a side of perfect fries.
Heath Mastroianni
We were surprised how quickly they were able to seat us, because the place was packed. Great to see everyone back out enjoying time together. Service was excellent and our brunch choices were absolutely delicious!
Carol Stevener
First time here and had the Sat special Short Ribs and they were awesome. But the cake for the day was a Lemon Blueberry Crumb Cake with Greaters Maple Cinnamon ice cream and it was HEAVEN!! One of the BEST desserts I've had in a very long time!!!
Brandon Barrett
Great service and a cool atmosphere but the menu was a little bit limited.
Cherie Kalel
The porkchop meal was amazing! So tender and flavorful. Dessert of chocolate cake and the lemon/blueberry crumble were divine!
Karen White
The food was delicious! Also, a big thank you for delivering my food to me when Door Dash did not show up. I thought businesses going over and beyond was extinct, but you proved that theory wrong. Thanks again... The sweet and sour calamari was the best! Molly you are awesome!
Beverly He
Cap City was everything I remembered! The blue cheese chips are a must!! I had the Black & Blue salmon salad and it was fantastic and the host desk knows how to move reservations around to make accommodations for a party of 2. Our server was extremely friendly, helpful and food came quickly. Do yourself a favor and go...and if you've been, go again!!!
George Y
I had the meatloaf dinner, service and food was great.
Cathy H.
Excellent meatloaf. Both chicken lunches were also delicious. Great service. Relaxed atmosphere. I hope to visit again!
Renee Sheridan
Their famous meatloaf did not disappoint, it was so close to my grandmother's. So close if I closed my eyes I was back in my childhood kitchen! If you haven't tried their meatloaf yet.... do so asap!!!!
elizabet j
Great place, tasty food. Good service
Drake Masters
Service was very good... The gluten free menu is also quite nice but the standard menu out of the 3 time I have eaten here is just ok... Their menu item ideas are good, but the execution never really hits the mark. Prices at the two locations I have been to are priced like a chef owned restaurant so I expect the same quality and execution. Don't get me wrong the food isn't bad, it's just not worth what they are asking.
Jeff McVeigh
We had the expected evening at Cap City - wonderful. Service, food and wine delicious.
Allen Kinzalow
Really cool atmosphere with good food selections and great & friendly service. I recommend the Sweet & Spicy Calamari, it was incredible!
Jesse Gardner
Lunch time on week days is pretty packed, so it can get noisy. If you have a party larger than four call ahead for a reservation as we didn't and got the last table large enough for 6.
I had the Balsamic Roasted Chicken with potatoes and everything was on point. Super moist, do recommend.
Larry Evans
I had the spicy chicken rigatoni, not very spicy but still very good. Chicken was very tender.
Amy Delehanty
First visit, absolutely loved it. The food was amazing, good selection of local crafts, and the chocolate cake is highly recommended for sharing! Zach was an awesome server. Friendly, attentive, and conversational.
Rayburn Neal
Always an amazing experience. Great indoor and outdoor seating. One of our favorite places to go. Accomadating even when busy as well!
Nick Engle
The peanut butter pie is insanely good. Everything we got was tasty and large portions, but the pie, dear God whatever you do, leave room for dessert
Tod Bowen
I have always been a fan of Cap City, and this is probably my favorite location. The food is always good, and the feel of the place is fun without being gimmicky. Our server today was particularly friendly and helpful. I do wish they would bring back their Chili Dog dish, it was the best chili dog in town
M Fandango
This place is consistent! The food is always amazing, the service is friendly and their drinks are on point. Hands down my go to when anyone is visiting out of town.
Elliott Denlinger
Fun atmosphere, elevated diner food, and fantastic service. Definitely worth stopping in for a fun night out.
Shar Vaz
Always a favorite place to dine, have a great cocktail, birthday dinner, or other occasion. Courteous staff & efficient wait staff, delicious & reasonably priced Cameron Mitchell food selections. My favorites are the crab cakes, the triple decker grilled cheese sandwich stuffed with an egg & other yummy goodies. My absolute favorite is the Key Lime martinis. We have been eating here regularly, ever since they opened. Great experiences.
Brenda Walker
Great food! Awesome service.
Linda Moore
We had a party of 9 they easily accommodated. The food was phenomenal, not just mine but everyone was raving about their meals. Their prices were reasonable and the staff was wonderful. If I lived in the area I would be here often.
Rob Co (RC)
The food was good, had the fish n chips. The waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. Overall it was a very nice experience. We did not have a reservation but the girl at the front desk got us a table very quickly. I would eat there again.
Pam C.
Greek salad is delicious and so is the carrot cake. Very generous portions, too.
Liz Wright
Visited from out of town and the diner was highly recommended and in the same parking lot as our hotel. Sat at the bar, tended by Mike, and service was fantastic. Great recommendations, conversation, food and drinks! Definitely recommend and definitely will be back!
Noah Andrews
Cal City is the most welcoming fine dining restaurant in Columbus. With prices that can be agreed upon for most people.
Me and my friends went after some previous plans fell through and l most immediately got some seats next to the kitchen bar. Robert was our server and was extremely professional and helpful navigating the menu. The food is also absolutely delicious (I would recommend the cheesesteak anyway).
My only complaint was that the bathrooms (at least the mens) were nasty. Outside of that however it was a very enjoyable experience.
Malissa Crawford
The rolls are subpar. But omg dinner was so good and I am super picky! I had the chicken parmesan and substituted the marinara for the ROASTED RED PEPPER CREAM SAUCE!!! So so amazing! Just the right amount of spice. Not so spicy ur nose runs!
My bf had the spicy chicken rigatoni and it was good too! Mine was better though.
And the waiter Adam was okay.
David Reed
This is definitely one of my favorite places to eat in Columbus. You can't go wrong with anything you pick on the menu.
Rodney Miller
We sat at the bar and had breakfast and bloody marys. Service was great food was great! Better make a reservation.
Jim Reuther
Brandon was a professional and personable server. Very pleased. Well done!
Mark Allman
Food was delicious and staff was friendly. The wait wasn't long. Would be 5 stars but the staff didn't ask for my ID when I ordered an alcoholic drink.
Susan Rahn
Literally the first food experience immediately after landing in Columbus. Loved the gianormous gumball machine in the lobby. It's bigger than I am!
Staff is friendly and accommodating for dietary needs/restrictions. Ordered the Philly cheese steak with fries. My friend loved the meatloaf & mashed potatoes. Really wanted to order dessert but our entree's were so filling! Did I mention the 80's music? Their music selection was AH-mazing!!
Will definitely return. I NEED to have that ridiculous slice of chocolate cake!
adlai stein
Amazing food & staff. The Sunday Brunch was delicious.
Aaron Konkler
Great atmosphere and friendliest staff around. The service was fast and the food was great; presentation was on point and waitress was back at just the right times to make sure everything was ok. One of those places you know everything on the menu is going to taste great each and every time.
Donna Mullins
Romano Crusted Chicken was excellent, Beef Tenderloin Kabobs were beyond tender
Jeff Smalla
Simply amazing food. Great service. Very pleasant surroundings. Don't miss it.
David Sanderson
Good service and great food. Meatloaf and Philly cheese steak are definitely worth a try.
Po Shy
Always a favorite spot for our family. The kids loved it growing up. That hasn't changed since they are now adults. Great food and atmosphere. Hanna was our server and did a fantastic job.
Casey McGowan
This restaurant participated in the Restaurant Week and we ordered two meals from that menu. The meatloaf was okay, mashed potatoes were bland. The crispy chicken was good, but the pasta had no flavor. It was very busy, as usual, but my God, we had to wait for everything. Our server was working hard, but oh, so slow. It took us longer to get our bill and pay than it did for us to get seated. At $25/ person, it wasn’t worth it. If we had just ordered off the menu, the bill would have been about $4 more/ meal. Not much of a savings. I feel like the place has gone downhill over the past three years. I doubt I’ll be back.
Dawn Walker
Food delicious
Bartender was pleasant and skilled
Environment clean and COVID SAFETY PRACTICES IN PLACE!
Nichole Reese
The staff were so polite and attentive, without being overly so.
Everyone enjoyed their meals.
Claudine W
The food is good but not worth the $20+ per plate. The portions are big, though. The chocolate cake definitely came from a box in their freezer but it was still decent. The staff works hard and they are very friendly. Kinda cool atmosphere. Dinner for 2, 2 drinks, 2 desserts came to $80+. Probably won't be back for that price any time soon. There are better places to eat for that much money.
Timothy Robine
Very good! Try the blue cheese nachos! The chipotle bloody Mary was also very good
Sanford Rosen
Another Cameron's success. Took care of our family of 9 including 3 babies, 2 five yr olds and 2 three yr olds with skill and aplomb. Our server Mo (Maureen) was amazing. The "new" Cap City layout was nice.
Lura Thomas
Visited today for lunch and had a joyful experience. The food was fantastic with reasonable prices. Our server Michael was so gracious and pleasant. I will be back!! Thank you for making my day outstanding!!
Wendy Bouchard
Best dinner in ohio. Pecan encrusted pork. Lee our server was phenomenal... &kudos to the chef.
Sean Smith
All aspects are great, one of our favorite places to go
Al West Jr.
I was starving. We sat down and, immediately, excellent service began. Sara was amazing - great personality, genuinely cared about making sure that our particular dietary needs would be met.
The food was great and the ambiance was good too.
David Martin
Great food and service but not inexpensive.
Jon W
They have great food and service. Regan is an amazing server and sweet young lady.
Travelsalot1988
The ribeye steak had fabulous flavor, juicy, cooked to my husband's liking (medium). My order of crab cakes was horrible! I think they made old fish cakes instead. As soon as it arrived to the table the 4 of us could smell them. I tried a bite, terrible fish taste. It was sent back and I got a Greek salad instead. That was delicious. The carrot cake piece was large enough to feed a village. Took 1/2 home for next day.
Freda Johnson
First time there it was nice and good food thank you
T G
Food here is always comforting and nice. The wait staff is usually amazing as well, especially Hannah
bob glick
The cocktails are professionaly prepared, and the pork chops cant be beat.
Supa Dave
The food was really good but the service was not. We did get there just after open.
ᗰIᑕᕼᗴᒪᒪᗴ
Love this place. It's the only place I know of where I can get a Gluten Free Philly cheese sandwich. Wish there was more options for gluten free desserts
C W
I go for the black and blue salad every time. But I had heard good things about the food. The peanut butter pie it looks amazing. Great selection of drinks. Great service!
Nicole
Excellent Service! Had the meat loaf, can't tell there's mushrooms in it
Phillip Novotny
Ribeye is excellent. Service is very good. Very friendly environment. Clean.
Elise Garber
The service was phenomenal (shout-out to Hannah!), the food was amazing, and my husband was particularly impressed with the music selection. We appreciated that the menu isn't so huge it doesn't take forever to make a decision. The kids' menu was awesome, food variety of more than standard fair chicken tenders, hot dog, etc.
Goodadvice777
I always enjoy CapCity restaurant! Their salads will definitely spoil you!
gugga56
As part of a large group, to-go order I was amazed at the quantity and quality of my food. The order was ready on time, someone helped bring it out to the vehicle, and service was friendly. The food was delicious.
jeff kirkbride
Very good service from our waitress. Lots of choices for the food selection and everyone enjoyed their entrees.
Recommend the Brownie Sundae for dessert as well as the Carrot Cake
Shams Faraji Alhaqq
Great place to sit and have a drink in private. Great whiskey sour.
The food is a little bland though; likely due to the demographic being largely older people. The fish and chips is solid and their tartar is good! Their coleslaw had zero tang that is supposed to come from white vinegar
I had a Rueben and couldn’t even taste the kraut and the corned beef was seasoned too lighly. A Rueben should be salty, sweet, and sour.
Megi Ramos
Our waitress was amazing! She frequently refilled our drinks, made wonderful and joyful conversation, and congratulated my husband and I on our new marriage!
The food was fantastic, and our desert was absolutely delicious! We cannot speak highly enough about the excellent food, friendly service, restaurant & bathroom cleanliness.
todd carbo
Feels like a diner, food, service and wine was all excellent. I had the salmon and it was outstanding. Maybe good diner type options too.
Lomo Go
The food was okay, typical diner food. The real winner here was our outstanding server, Susanna! My husband and I agreed she was the most helpful server we've ever had anywhere! She not only made menu suggestions based on our dietary needs, but she gave us great ideas for things to do in the area. She rocks!
Andrew Studenic
This place is always reliable. The Blue Cheese chips appetizer is amazing and all of the nightly specials are good to. Honorable mention to the burger, which is a very solid burger.
Amit Jain
An awesome place for fine dining...had good crowd, decent options for a complete vegetarian like me...I truly had a great experience!!
Guy Will
I’ve dined here plenty but today we just visited the bar on a Sunday. We wanted a little off the menu ideas for cocktails for a mid afternoon drink. Our bartender was gracious and alerted us to a new drink not on the menu yet. It, and she were both wonderful. I hope she’s paid well because my experience and your business was built on her.
Carlos Flores
I had the pork chops. Best ever really good
Darcie Plaster
Food was great! We sat on the patio for brunch. The service was a little slower than expected to get drinks, but the food came out quickly and our server was nice. The spinach quiche was fantastic! I'd definitely recommend it.
Steena Stetter
We are in Columbus for a procedure at The James. We haven't been inside a dining establishment in fourteen months, and now that we are fully vaccinated, we decided to take a slow plunge back into the real world (safely, of course.) We chose Cap City to be our first dining experience in over a year and we were NOT disappointed. Our server, Vanessa, was amazing and understood our trepidation about being out in the World. Every course of our dinner was amazing from the appetizers to dessert, and the cocktails were delicious and so we're the specialty non-alcoholic drinks. Everything arrived super fast and fresh and we wanted for nothing during our visit. the bill was reasonable and we left happy, super full, and beyond pleased with our first pandemic dining experience.
D H
This place is amazing and the meatloaf is great! The service was excellent!
Bonnie Sweeney
This is a great place to take out of town visitors for a little taste of Columbus. The ambiance is awesome especially since the recent remodel- like being in a diner car but still comfy and classy inside. They don’t have a ton of vegetarian options which is a bummer for me, however their veggie platter is so good I get it every time & can’t complain. They have the biggest slices of cake I’ve ever seen and amazing milkshakes!
McKenzie Mason
Awesome food, great service. Went during restaurant week. Great deal. Will definitely be coming back.
Steven Young
Just a nice place to unwind and relax after a long and taxing day.
R. B.
First time customer who was extremely impressed. They do a wonderful job of serving upscale diner food!
I went for brunch and enjoyed their salmon and lox bagel. AMAZING. Portions are large and staff is friendly. My only regret is being too full to try their large and decadent looking desserts. I WILL BE BACK.
Kate Namola
This is my favorite Cap City location. I have been coming here since I was a kid. We have had many special celebrations here. We even ate here right after our wedding. The food is always delicious and the staff is always friendly and accommodating. My only complaint is how busy it gets because so many people love it! There a few meals better than the blue cheese potato chips as an appetizer, the meatloaf as an entree, and a piece of giant chocolate cake for dessert.
Kameron Giar-Tantes
Second time coming in for my husband and his best friends birthday. To whoever our server was tonight (party of 10 by the fireplace, I joined late and missed your name), THANK YOU for amazing service!
Christina Girod
Service was beyond outstanding. Our server Luke went the extra mile.
Ken Ledford
First time, and definitely not the last! Great food and service.
Joseph and Linda T.
We had a reservation and was seated within a couple of minutes. The service and food was very good. The portions were very generous. I would highly recommend.
Tony Guzman
Lunch was really good. The server was excellent and very professional
Tyler Hegamin
Nice atmosphere
Nice staff
Tasty food
Large portions
Strong drinks
J. Ramsey
Great food and great service. What more can you say.
Angie Cooper
Great staff. Good food. Drinks were cool
Kevin Thompson
This is a good spot. Showed up on a week night with a big group, and this place was hopping. I expected slow service but was pleasantly surprised, very energetic staff. The food is delicious. I sampled multiple dishes and saw many more at our large table and was very impressed. I like places like this. They have an adequate menu and do it well, as opposed to offering everything imaginable and average food. Definitely be back. Give ‘em a try.
Bud Shaw
I was in a group of 7 meeting to discuss our class reunion. The waiter, (whose name I have forgotten, sorry) was very polite and patient with us as we all filed in 1 at a time. The cinnamon rolls were delicious, the food great and atmosphere pleasant. I'll definitely go back again with my wife.
J Carder (Mr Manager)
Really cool place to grab a lunch. No the biggest place and not tons of parking, but that doesn't matter. The place just feels cool and upscale, the food is great and the staff is top shelf too.
I had a gift card here my first time going and I am now a life long fan of the place. The bar area is really pretty big and lots of seats.
My daughter and I sat at the counter, kind of a 50's kinda feel there.
Kim Bohler
Wonderful restaurant, love to come here! Excellent food, great service, and very nice, comfortable atmosphere. The Spinach Quiche, Crabcakes, and Creme Brule were delicious today! Our server, Alex, was A+ and helped make our visit very enjoyable. Thank you! We visited on Sat., 5-22-21.
H C
Great chicken breast entree. Mashed potatoes are good - tasty but not overdone with cream/butter. I found the chicken wings and calamari to be way too sweet for my taste.
Jon Watson
The food and atmosphere were really good. There was a 45 minute wait for a table but luckily three seats opened at the bar so we sat and ate there.
Brett zumFelde
Great service, food, patio spacing. Had a wonderful evening in the new normal.
REBECCA mitchell
The service is good, the waiters are accommodating and the food is pretty good
Deb Harvey
So. Much. Yum!! And our service was absolutely top notch! Taylor took such great care of us! From drinks to rolls to entrees to desserts, our party of 8 was beyond satisfied! Even our celiac found plenty of goodies on the gluten-free menu. And our birthday girl felt very special! Such a wonderful first experience.
Gerry Pyle
Great diner experience.
JM Diaz
Great atmosphere, amazing food.
This place is certainly a high end, high quality experience.
Great location, staff was nice.
TC Brandt
Cap City Diner does its best to walk the line between diner and fine restaurant. While it isn't a classy establishment, it isn't a diner either.
The service was pretty good. The server was friendly, and the food was quick. The hostess was unenthusiastic. Alas.
The food was decent for the place. I felt like the food had a theme but the diner the me didn't match the prices or experience (buttered rolls at a diner?). Trying to be a cover all left me wanting. But the meatloaf was on point and the Reuben was acceptable if not stellar.
Lastly, they had a pretty dang good blueberry pie and ice cream. Not the best ever but some of the best you'll get without paying extravagant amounts. Plus they have a remarkable chocolate cake.
Clean bathrooms, smelled good. Mouthwash even.
Teresa McCarrel
We have been here 3 times recently and each time was absolutely amazing! Service was amazing and food was even better! Can't wait to be able to get there on a Monday for the special!
Brian Mercer
Always a good time, with good food and service. Chicken dishes are consistently good, meatloaf is above average and the desserts are amazing and can shared. Recommended.
Barry Andriko
We went for an early Mother's Day lunch. Everything was perfect!!! The food was great and the service was outstanding!!! My Mom, who's 90 said Tyler, our server was one of the nicest young men she's ever met!!! Thank you all for a wonderful experience at Cap City!!! Barry Andriko.
Patty Green
We've visited multiple times and from beginning to end our experience is always mediocre. Food does nothing much to impress. Expect more than we've ever experienced. Even the cheeseburgers and brownie sundae left much to be desired.
Demetria Adams
Good food and nice atmosphere. Not badly priced.
Chris B
I've dined here many times since this restaurant opened and it is still a solid choice for eating out. A good combination of Americana, comfort food, and seasoning. The fish & chips is a personal favorite. I'm impressed with their recent menu changes too. The Monday special, shrimp and grits, was really enjoyable and the new foot long coconut cream pie was fantastic. The service is always good, but go on a week night if you want really fast service.
Judy Lewis
My party of two wanted a regular table but the wait was over 30 minutes. The hostess said we could sit at the bar overlooking the men getting salads and desserts dinner. We hesitated sitting at this spot but we really enjoyed this seating! Our server did excellent service with our drinks and food. My order of food had an item that I do not eat. (I mentioned it to the server but it ended up having the ingredient.) The server was very gracious (he was still fairly new) and immediately told the chef. The chef came out and suggested how he could prepare my order which was agreeable to me. The chef was wonderful! Our food was yummy as well at the chocolate cake! We will definitely return to Cap City Fine Diner.
Cindy Checkeye
You CANNOT go wrong eating here. The food is amazing and portions bountiful. I can't even say I have a favorite because every meal I have ordered here has been prepared to perfection.
A must have is the home made chips with blue cheese.
The staff are friendly . There is a small diner-like seating area in the front, a bar also. They also have a seasonal outdoor area.
Bob Roehm
A group of fifteen or so of us from the Stonewall [Columbus] Trailblazers, a community of LGBGTQ+ adults who are fifty or older, met for lunch recently [8-19-2021] at the Cap City Diner.
The "atmosphere" [in terms of room design, lighting, and room decorations] had been superb; the service had been friendly, efficient, and helpful; the food had been absolutely delicious.
The restaurant opened that day at 11:30 a.m.; within fifteen minutes or so, the dining room had been filled with people who had been there to eat their lunches.
It had been greatly helpful for me to be able to study the menu on-line before arriving at Cap City Diner because it has been becoming increasingly difficult for my eyes to be able to focus on menus in low-lighting situations.
I ordered and ate Balsamic Chicken [$15.99]: pan-seared chicken breast, chive mashed potatoes, sautéed spinach, roasted red peppers, caramelized mushrooms and onions, and lemon chicken jus. Our meals had been brought to our table approximately ten minutes after we had ordered them.
The Stonewall Trailblazers spent two hours or so seated around our large table in that crowded dining room, sharing memories and other information with each other, before adjourning and moving on to the rest of that day's activities.
Ever since the building where the Cap City Diner is located had opened [in 1960] [and had been known at that time as the "Olentangy Inn"], I have been intrigued by the "sagging" roof at the northeast corner of that building.
It had been quite fun, before leaving the Cap City Diner after my meal, to view the northeast corner of that roof from only a few feet away and to be taller than that roof.
The building where the Cap City Diner is located is definitely one of the important landmarks in the "Fifth by Northwest" neighborhood of Columbus. In addition, I recommend that restaurant if you are looking for a delicious meal.
Louise Cohn
Love Cap City, Grandview. Accommodating, Friendly, Delicious fare.
Eman Dughly
Dined here this evening with my husband and son and was so impressed I had to leave a review for this location. We ordered the Romano chicken and the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. Both came quickly (we hadn’t eaten all day and were grateful!) and were delicious! Our waitress was very nice and so were all the staff we encountered.
What really impressed us was there approach to the pandemic guidelines. We checked in with a hostess outside the restaurant and waited outside until we got a text that our table was ready. We were asked to wear masks until we were seated at our table. The booths had glass between them so that we didn’t come into contact with other customers. Even the menu was accessed simply by scanning a barcode on our phones. Very impressive and well thought out!
Penelope Parmer
Ordered for takeout on St Patrick's day. I called in the order and the person I spoke with was very helpful and friendly. The reuben was wonderful, as always (their corned beef is sooooo good). The side of pasta was plentiful and good (though I could not eat it in the same meal as the sandwich). Peanut butter pie was saved for the next day and was a worthwhile splurge. Things were packaged well. Would recommend.
Matt Shortland
My fiancé and I ate here for our first time on her birthday. We had an amazing experience. The food was incredible. She had the balsamic chicken and I ate the Philly both were great choices. We also had appetizers and deserts that were suggested by our sever and we were pleased with both choices she suggested. Over all we had a great experience the food was incredible. Not only was the food incredible but our server made the experience complete. She was very educated on the menu and even was able to sell us appetizers and desserts that weren't thought of or planned until she suggested them.Kylynn was our server on October 17,2017. I would sincerely suggest requesting her if she is available she will make the experience complete. Overall I give everything a 10 out of 10 and the server a 100 out of 10.
Terry Rennecker
Always a fantastic dining experience
Greg Troy
Highly recommend this place. Our group got the meatloaf, fried chicken, chicken pot pie, triple decker grill cheese and a salad and everyone said it was about the best we've had. I'll be back the next time I'm in Columbus.
Mercedes Jacobs
This place has DIVINE food......ijs.
Jenni Long
Great food on most visits, service can sometimes be a little slow, so don't expect to be in and out. We always order the Old Bay shrimp cocktail, but last time there was practically no Old Bay so...it was a shrimp cocktail. The meatloaf is good, but I wouldn't call it fame worthy, it honestly looks and *feels* like dog food from a can. I'll go back out of good faith, they've never done us dirty, but the hype isn't really warranted.
Hank
This place was phenomenal. Here is just an example banana bread pudding. They have anything from walleye to a club sandwich that was extraordinary.
Eileen B
Great food and service from Zac
J Lewis
The food is excellent and helpings are generous. There are too many great dishes to choose from, so it's always a challenge to pick just one. The location along Riverside drive has great views and in good weather it's really nice to sit outside. The inside is comfortable, as well. The Dublin location can be pretty busy, so reservations are probably a good idea.
Keith Carlson
Every detail of this restaurant was well thought through. It was more than just five star food but they also care about the experience you have while you are there. From the authentic upscale diner feel, lighting, fun drinks to order, beautiful tables you can tell they care about every detail. The cost per plate is more than just going to any old place for dinner but for what you get it seems worth it if you're celebrating something special.
Also, mouthwash in the bathroom is a nice touch. Just goes to show you, they take good care of you here.
Kathy Powers
Food was superior. Typically 1 of us will like their food but all 3 of us did. I had the Balsamic grilled chicken, my son had the meatloaf sandwich, my husband had spicy chicken rigatoni. The only suggestion was that the rigatoni could have been spicier! We had soup, appetizers and dessert and it was all very tasty!
Christin Wolford
Very good blue cheese chips. Everything tasted amazing
Doug DeVoe
Service was great and food very good except the steak and black bean chili that was sorely lacking both steak and black beans. Black beans are cheap and nutritious so a few more isn't unreasonable!
Lori LaValley
I had Salmon Salad. It was very good. My husband had a hamburger with fries. He asked for it medium. Was was more medium rare-rare. He didn't want to bother returning it. 😔. It's my birthday and i got a free carrot cake. It's huge! …
Brandon Sullivan
Server was excellent. Very attentive and helpful. Menu was very divers. We had the blue cheese chips and they couldn't have been better. The meatloaf was great! I have had meatloaf in a resturaunt only once before and swore never again. I am glad I decided to try it here. Kids menu was pretty good too. We washed it all down with a root beer float.
Heather Easley
Super friendly staff, waitress was so pleasant I actually smiled when she came by. Food was amazing. I had the stroganoff while my husband had the spicy chicken rigatoni both of which were perfect. We were full and couldn't stop eating- it was that good. Also the atmosphere was quite cool.
Olivia V
Came here for lunch with the girls. It was busy quite busy. The food looked good and felt like a wonderful home cooked meal. Such a wonderful place to eat. The employees here are so kind and they don’t stop moving. So much food to choose and a decently good price. Make sure to give the Balsamic Chicken a try with Roasted Creole Tomato soup.
Warren Richards
Had the pecan crusted pork chops. They were the best pork chops I've ever had at a restaurant. The other items on the plate could have used a bit more spice to really make them pop but it was an overall enjoyable experience. I will say that the price point on most menu items seems high for what you get. There could be a bit more value added but Cap does well coming across as a pleasant restaurant overall.
Kemal Whitham
Love this place, staff is always super polite, nice and accommodating. The portions are huge and the food tastes divine. I've eaten most of the things on the menu and haven't disliked a single item. I highly recommend the walleye special they have on Fridays.
Lawrence Lin
It's a diner that serves typical diner fare. I had their #1 selling meatloaf, which was tasty but nothing memorable. The portions are sizable, which is always good. They do serve buttery dinner rolls with every meal that are worth going back for, but I wouldn't go out of my to come back.
Gregory Buckley
Went for brunch today. We sat for a while before someone came to the table. She wasn't sure who was supposed to be waiting on us but she didn't wait to find out. She jumped in and took care of us. The food was delicious as always and you never go hungry here. Another good experience.
Daniel Keener
Great diner atmosphere, try the apple pie if you do dessert!
Debbie Wakefield
We went here to dinner, me, my fiance, my mom and his mom last night. Amanda was such a great server. She was so sweet and helped us make sure we got our leftovers boxed up. We will definitely go back to Cap City again. I highly recommend the carrot cake, thanksgiving day sandwich, the fish or the cheeseburger. And the rolls they give you are delicious! Thanks Amanda!
Alexandra Greene
I used to think of CMR as being top tier, but when we were here last the service felt a bit subpar. Our drinks were literally slammed down on the table & the waitress seemed annoyed the whole time. The food was great, but the service very much dulled the experience.
Paula Booker
It seemed more like a pub- dinner than an up scale C. Michelle restaurant.fish was good . Cole slaw was good not worth the price. Waiter was attentive though
Jacob Rager
Absolutely wonderful service today, I felt obligated to leave a good tip. Please try their milkshakes, they're to-die-for! Am definitely going to make this place a staple eatery for my spouse and I. And to the staff, keep up the great work, it isn't unnoticed :)
Tania Wolansky
This was my second visit to the Cap City Diner. Both times we had reservations and I think that's the best way to go here. There were so many things on the menu that looked amazing. I ended up with the Romano chicken this time and it was awesome. It seemed to be a favorite for a lot of people because 2 others that I dined with ordered it. We all enjoyed it. Our server was on top of checking in with us enough times to keep our beverages filled and making sure we didn't need anything but not so often to be a bother. I'd definitely visit again if I'm in town and have time for a relatively leisurely dinner.
J Hytken
Home style comfort food. Very large portions and quite flavorful. Attentive staff and reasonable prices. It gets crowded so plan in advance (the good places always are)
Albert “Al” Reese
This place may be a bit pricey but they earn every penny. Meatloaf dinner is incredible... I live in Canton Ohio but when my son takes me there I can't resist ordering this dinner. I was told the chicken potpie was also exceptional. The strawberry milkshake was a mouthful of fresh berries - enjoy
Mattheus Falhouse
We have been here on multiple occasions and had Kylynn has been our server and provided remarkable service with outstanding food quality every time. We love every aspect of the establishment! Everything on the menu is outstanding, the service is awesome, and we love the experience we get dining there! Kylynn is one of the best servers we have ever encountered! She is awesome!
Greg Swan
We had the wings as an app, pecan crusted pork chop as entree w cheddar potatoes, Pico, and spinach. Child had salmon w fries, mash, and carrots. We also had strawberry basil lemonade.
Everything was great. Wings were sweet and Smokey, perfectly fried, crispy, and juicy. Also the blue cheese made in house was nearly perfect. Pecan crusted chop was also great and the apple reduction took it over the top. Salmon was well prepared, fries were average, strawberry basil lemonade was nice and refreshing.
Service was superb. Our server Zachary was training a new server and I reckon she'll be great under his tutelage. All around fantastic, 5/5.
Cap City Diner might have the best chicken wings in town.
Edit: I went back tonight and everything was fine, just wanted to add that the carrot cake is fantastic.
Theresa DePugh
The menu. it is wonderful. every price range, and your green beans are to die for. Fried Chicken breast was great. Banana Pudding was warm and yummy. We had a very nice waitress. Love the atmosphere.
Caitlyn Callander
They're slightly over priced for the style of food in my opinion, considering how much business they do get I would love it if they lowered the prices just a little bit?!? Plain white toast for an 13 dollar grilled cheese is just robbery. It wasn't amazing either.
Ebony Reddock
Great decor and vibe! I was brought here by colleagues for a business dinner and I see why. Went on a Thursday and had the pot roast blue plate special. When I asked how the brussel sprouts were cooked, I mentioned I only liked them broiled and crispy. Our server, without being asked, make sure they were especially crispy. That is great service. The rest of the meal was equally good. If you love carrot cake, it is a must-have. Great experience beginning to end.
Carol Weikel
It has been quite a while since I have gone to Cap City in Granview, not because of any issue, but just because it did not come to mind. I am sad it has been so long because the food and service was wonderful!! I had the walleye and it was possibly the best I have ever had. Had a salad that was fresh and crisp with just the correct amount of dressing. The dinner was slightly overpriced, but around the price I expected for the area.
David Tseng
The food was delicious. Portion was a bit small though.
L L
Delicious food, accommodating staff, & awesome atmosphere. Everything you want in a dining experience. Wish there was a cap city back in Chicago. Will definitely be a must have when we’re back in town!
Server Amanda was beyond amazing, she was so sweet to our 5 year old. ask for her!
Pam Fannin
Pleasant staff. Server was very attentive. Cava was flat (no effervescent "bubbles"). My salmon was very good, but meatloaf was a bit on the cool side and had to be returned for warming. Had a fun evening, but it sure isn't the place it use to be. Still worth going just for the potato chips!
Roberta Kayne
The service was very good. The waitress was very nice. I ordered a Blackened Salmon Salad. The salmon was good. The salad was mostly iceberg lettuce which I hate and dont eat, and it was drenched in blue cheese dressing, almost like soup. It would have been nice if the waitress asked if I wanted the dressing on the side. I usually order my salads with dressing on the side, but I forgot, so it was partly my fault. When I told her that I dont like iceberg lettuce, she said they mix it with other greens. Oh well. I will not go back to Cap City. There are other wonderful restaurants that have delicious salmon salads with dark greens, like Bravo! Many people love this restaurant, but it's just not for me. At least I tried it.
Marianne Freed
Such a great menu and I appreciate the Gluten Free menu. They also encourage you to ask about any menu item they may be able to make gluten free. The shrimp cocktail is amazing with the best Louie sauce.
Tanya Best
Excellent service. Delicious food. Thanks also for holding our table for us as we navigated through heavy city traffic.
Would definitely return again.
anne velikoff
Delicious upscale diner fare, tempting desserts (especially the carrot cake), very friendly, efficient wait staff. Highly recommend
bobbie Stonerock
I made out reservation on open book. Good thing. Cap City is packed for brunch. Our waiter, trey (I think) was very good as were the manager and hostess who greeted us on our arrival. Making the reservation was key. We were quickly seated in the best booth in the restaurant. I enjoyed brunch with 2 girlfriends. We all loved our meals - which came out very quickly. My friends had Bloody Mary's and enjoyed them though they commented "spicy" - which they loved. Definitely recommended.
michelle naida
Friends highly recommend this Diner and it was our first time visiting but it sure won't be the last! The food was amazing the waitstaff extremely good and attentive this will become a staple to our annual Columbus trip!
Susan Headlee
Great Food, Great Service! Wonderful dining experience! Don't forget to order a piece of delicious chocolate cake!
Phillip R.
As an uber driver I often hear of places for good food and drink, Cap city was one of the places discussed recently. I was far from disappointed! From the moment my family walked the staff was attentive even with being almost of full late lunch customers. Our server kyle(highly highly recommend him) was very attentive and had excellent knowledge of the menu. His suggestions were spot on and with almost supernatural intuition on our likes and dislikes even though this was our first visit. The food was outstanding and arrived much much faster than we had anticipated with all our choices arriving hot despite different cooking times. Bravo to the kitchen staff! We had chosen dishes with a varied cooking time frame and the staff didn't miss a beat with all dishes arriving hot and ready. If there was a 6th star to award they would've easily earned it from us.
Anne Ayers
We went for happy hour. Only had a lemon drop and cheesy fries. My drink was good but nothing special. The cheesy fries were truly delicious! Real cheese (not concession stand nacho cheese) and green onions made them very tasty. If I went back & had a good experience sampling more of their menu, they would probably receive 4 stars!
Jeff Fitzgibbons
A good visit to Cap City Diner. We enjoyed good service, but there were some shortcomings to the overall experience.
The menu and food quality were excellent, as always. I've never had a bad meal at CCD. However, the cocktails we ordered were paired with Pepsi rather than the Coca-Cola we preferred. Additionally, the cocktails were not made well, being very light on liquor. Finally, the men's room, while well decorated and appointed, was not very clean and needed trash removed. This was first noted at 6pm and on a second visit at 830pm, was no better.
Lori Bickford
The waiter was excellent, the choice of desserts fun, and my meal was good, although the thinner of my pork chops was slightly undercooked. I was thrilled they were willing to add vodka to their strawberry lemonade drink, as their cocktail list had nothing with vodka in it.
Ryan Bolin
My Son’s first time here and it was as fantastic as always !
Mark Lowe
This time I got the house favorite the mashed potatoes on top of meatloaf with the onion rings. I've never had a bad meal there. I do recommend reservations. It was busy when we got there but since we had reservations we got a table right away. We had no trouble parking. However people were waiting for parking spots when we left.
Robin Messner
This place was very good. You do need reservations to go here (unless you want to sit in the bar). We had the burger and Romano chicken dish and both were excellent. Since it is an "fine dining" place, the prices are higher than an old time diner but since we were just in town for 1 night we decided to splurge and try a new place. I would come back here again.
Tracey Mardis
We had wonderful service and the food was divine, as always. I had the pecan-crusted pork chops. So good. Had to bring the second chop home to save room for the chocolate cake. Best in the city.
Alexander Meyer
I've never had bad food here. Been going here for years, and am always impressed. Try the blue cheese chips
kelsie Brown
I ordered a BLT and a pep pizza. The pizza was great! & the sandwich was decent, it was a typical BLT. I also ordered a bloody mary & It was fantastic. A great place for gatherings.
Rachel G
Our server was great. Just had to wait for drinks a couple of times. They dont allow pitchers to be brought to the table.rather inconvenient for a group of 14. The food was, tried the steak and it was cooked correct and was very delicious.
Layne Romasco
This was only my second time visiting this Cap City location (I usually go to the Dublin one). My friend and I thought we didnt need to make a reservation, since we planned to go to dinner at 6 pm on a Wednesday night. However, we were told there was a 30 minute wait when we got there. While that was annoying, the hostess offered for us to sit at the full-service bar, which we did. Eating at the bar was definitely the right choice! The bartenders were very friendly and super on top of it! I had a delicious drink (the Bourbon & Water) and a delicious meal (the Seasonal Vegetable Plate). I can't wait to go back!
R Bodkintribe
This is a Cameron Mitchell restaurant and can usually be counted on for great service and food...but our last time there, our service was lacking. It was at least 5 min after getting our food before we even received our silverware and we had to flag down another server to get that! Everyone has an off night sometime, but it was consistent with our server that night. And to top everything off, they were out of a couple of the desert items. Come on, Cap City. .. You're better than that. !
Heather Hoffman
I definitely recommend coming here for brunch. Their French Toast & Spinach Quiche are phenomenal. They also make fantastic mimosas. If you don't make reservations, I would try to get here as soon as they open. We did and were seated right away. The staff is very thorough and extremely friendly. We'll definitely be back in the near future.
Mary Gay
Delicious! We got the meatloaf, with a barbecue type of gravy. It's a big, thick slice of meatloaf, served on top of a slice of sourdough bread, with the barbecue gravy on top. Then on top of that is a big scoop a chive mashed potatoes. On either side of this are 2 big sprigs of broccoli. It was good, but I like how we make it in Texas a lot better. The shrimp cocktail appetizer was wonderful, as was the vanilla coconut milkshake I had. I believe it would be better as an after dinner cocktail.....as it is made from coconut, vanilla ice cream, almond infused vodka and toasted coconut. It was excellant
Marcus Williams
Haven't been here in almost 11 years. Restaurant has been remodeled and it looks great. Staff was very attentive. Our server was Wyatt and he did an amazing job. Clean...reasonably priced.... and great service. All the reasons we'll eat there again.
Greg Majewski
Just as good during a recent visit to Columbus as I remember it from a decade ago, if not better. The food is excellent, as is the service, variety, and ambiance. Blue cheese chips are GREAT! The meatloaf is their signature, but pretty much everything else I have ever had is spot-on, too.
Linda Litzinger-Bartman
A friend recommended this place to us based on the 2 Pecan Crusted Pork Chops! Hubby was happy with it and I got a salad made to my liking and I am a PICKY eater so it was very good! A little pricy but a nice change!
Mike S
Our server was Matt and he was amazing! Very kind, attentive, efficient and engaging. Dinner and dessert was amazing and Matt made our evening. Thank you for a nice evening.
Annamae Mckerns
Cap City has a great happy hour until 6:30 pm. Always has a vibrant bar scene and good appetizers that are very inexpensive. Has the best blue cheese loaded potato chips in the world. Their food is always excellent and their service is excellent as well. One of my favorite restaurants
Kristen Nett
We tried this place for the first time on Friday and will DEFINITELY be back again! The food was phenomenal. Zach, our server, provided us with a great experience and did everything he could to make it great. 10/10 would recommend!
Gus Workman
We didn't come with a reservation for a party of 6 on a Friday night, but they were able to quickly accommodate us. Our food came out quickly, and was very good. Service was better than average. It is on the slightly more expensive side though for a fancy diner. Expect to pay at least $20 per person
Melissa Clarke
Service was good but my friend never got her dessert and my "bellini " was just a blood orange mimosa. I gave it 4 stars because my calamari and apple salad was really good.
Erika L. O'Brien Mason
Service was great as usual
Food was delicious!! Can't go wrong when you start with those Blue Cheese Chips!!! Yummy!!!
Greg Brooks
We went to grab dinner before a show that night downtown. Not that I frequent them very often at all, but I have yet to be disappointed with a Cameron Mitchell restaurant. We were told it could be an hour wait, but quickly found seats at the bar. The bar staff of three worked as a team and was fantastic the whole time. Food is always great, and IF I had one issue, it was that the barstools could be a little taller - I am 6'1" and felt kind of like a kid st the adult table.
John Schneider
Very pleasant atmosphere. Super friendly, professional servers. Our table had burger, philly and meatloaf. All very good but not exceptional to match the $$$.
Jayson Waits
I love Cap City and is one of my favorite places to eat in Columbus. Always love the atmosphere especially the Gahanna location. Food is always amazing as well as the service. The pretzel rocks for an appetizer.
Rob M
Any time a friend who isn't from Columbus asks me for a restaurant to take a date, I suggest Cap City. There is something on the menu for everyone, the menu prices are reasonable, and I've never had food served to me that I wasn't satisfied with.
Moira Oleri
My husband and I were visiting his sister in Upper Arlington Ohio and my sister in law chose to take us out to dinner at Cap City Fine Diner and Bar. We had a bit of a wait for a table as it was a Friday night. Once seated, the waiter came over and got our drinks and went over the menu with us. My husband wanted the liver and onions, but this was a Blue Plate Feature on Wednesday. We asked our waiter if he could get this meal and the waiter said ‘Yes’ this is the only Blue Plate Feature that they can make every day. I had the Romano Crusted Chicken and my sister in law had the Black and Blue Salmon Salad. The food was awesome. The atmosphere was great. I wish that Cap City Fine Diner and Bar would branch out and come to Bergen County New Jersey. I cannot wait to go back and try more great dishes.
Jared Weist
great food! impeccable service & a wonderful experience.
fun twists on classic diner food and overall, plenty of choices for even the pickest eaters! all of the appetizers and drinks hold you over until you get your meal, and when your food comes out, you get a large portion of fantastic food!
Queen Williams
My Cracker Crusted Walleye and Asparagus with mash potatoes was delicious and for dessert chocolate covered peanut butter pie. Was the Best! I love chocolate and peanut butter together and this pie was so delicious!
Tona Pearson
Incredibly mediocre food, at higher prices than are justifiable. I ordered the fried chicken, which was burned, and very dry, and was sweet. There was no mention of it being sweet on the menu, and I was thoroughly disappointed by it.
The place was clean though, and the wait staff was friendly and prompt. Our glasses were never empty, which was a boon, in that the food was so unpalatable.
Jon Stein
Great food, drinks, and service. Their blue cheese dressing is phenomenal and typically I hate blue cheese. The wings were exceptional. Meatloaf was good but I liked the salmon more.
Allison Beecher
There is lots of parking and the restaurant is huge. I've never had to wait for a table! The atmosphere inside is fun, like an upscale diner. The staff is stellar and the food is great! Regardless if you're on date night or out with the family, this is a great place to go!
My personal favorites are the soft pretzel appetizer and the philly cheesesteak. Yum!!
Steve B
We didn't have a reservation and got seated in about 5 min. Food was excellent staff is super friendly. We love this place and will go back again
Jordan Antonelli
Nice place and outstanding service go with a wide variety of menu choices. The rigatoni looked great but that's not what I had. Philly cheese sandwich was a bit dry, but that might be the result of my asking to hold the onions. Good malts and huge desserts.
Jon Hanning
Great.... Great food and healthy too .. large portions; great service and good environment.
Jessica Kidd
Always exceptional service and delicious food.
Ramisha Sykes
The ponzu glazed salmon and rice is my favorite dish here. I ate so fast i forgot to take a picture! I dont get the stir fry with it i always get the broccoli.
The dinner rolls are so soft and buttery. If you're a honey fan ask for some i promise your rolls will be next level good.
Oh and if you're in the business of ordering appetizers get the wings and calamari you won't be disappointed.
One more thing. The desserts!!!!!! Theyre definitely shareable. The chocolate cake is my favorite and the apple pie is yummy too. The carrot cake is mondo and sooooo good. The whole cake is 22lbs. Sliced into i pieces. You do the math. SN don't forget the ice cream
You're welcome 😊
Emily Tatman
Experience was great. First time eating here, the service was superb and the food was phenomenal. I highly recommend the Thanksgiving Day sandwich, it was mouth watering. Also got the Apple dessert which was to die for. Definitely should try this place out if you get the chance.
Fatima Shaik
A very cute combo of fancy and casual! I had the fried chicken, which was very well-cooked, but under-seasoned. The mashed potatoes were amazing! My roommate got the fish (can't remember which one or if there was more than one) and it was super delish!
Tammy Ament
One of my favorite places, consistently great food. We ate the bar this time and had very good service.
Lucinda Yeagle
Must go, best Philly cheese steak sandwich, calamari app is amazing. Meatloaf is great but portion is pretty big, pro tip. . . Sit with a friend. Very COVID friendly. All Cameron Mitchell restaurants have air Purolator systems.
Drew W
We hopped in before a concert at Value City arena. We were seated immediately and service was excellent. Food was great, we had no complaints. Try the foot long coconut pie if you are a fan of coconut. It is amazing!
Anthony Williams
Excellent quality of food, amazing service. The only negative from my visit (and this is definitely has more to do with my own tastes rather than the restaurants culinary acuity) was the appetizer I ordered. We got the Smoked Salmon Spread, and it was ok, but it had a very catfood-like aftertaste. I may just spoil my cats and give them too good of food, to be honest. The meatloaf with mashed potatoes, toast, and BBQ gravy was a steal at just under 18 bucks, and my wife loved the balsamic chicken. Definitely recommend any dessert, as well.
Daniel Graff
When they say fine diner they mean it. Everything was well executed. I got the blue cheese chips for an app. As a Rueben aficionado, I have to try one any new place i go. This Reuben's corned beef is so tender and was probably the best part. The sauce and sauerkraut ratio was on point. I also liked that that I could order a Macallan 12, but if you are looking for the cocktail menu online it is under Dinner not Drink menu. Kurt was a trainee, but was very informed about Ohio which I needed as an out of towner. I asked alot of questions that he answered, and he took care of all my requests quickly. 5 stars for Kurt all day.
Marian Bryant
Food is top notch. Literally something for everyone. My favorite is the ponzo salmon and husband's is the all American burger (which is cooked to perfection). Service is attentive and professional. Atmosphere is upscale but not formal, and friendly for families with children. For peak times, I recommend a reservation for Grandview location.
W Three
So why should I come here for date night or day a few times a year. She really enjoys comfort food and they have their own take on it. The servers are always friendly and personable in the food is tasty so the price for comfort food might make some scratch their heads however it's worth every penny. Be sure to save room for dessert, large portions and very tasty. We have tried them all.
Desiree Brown
OVERALL the Atmosphere, Food, & Service was amazing! My boyfriend and I came here for the first time yesterday and loved our food 10/10. We will definitely be coming back to try out the MEATLOAF!
Eryn Simone
In from out of town for the Special Olympics, and all I have to say is the food is amazing and the service is even better!! I ordered the black and blue salmon salad and it was so good and so filling. I ordered take out and sat at the bar and waited for my food and again the service was PHENOMENAL!! We definitely will be back this weekend
Lizabeth Page
Great place to relax with friends and enjoy good service, good foods and drinks too of course. Fun & unique twists with gourmet flare. Come casual or dressed up, after work or with the kids; they're accommodating to all with everything from their atmosphere, to their staff as well as their menu choices.
Kristopher D Loving
Great service, good food & prices
Olivia Cornwell
Fantastic food, best service of my life (truly) from the hosts, servers and kitchen crew, plus an off the chart perfect ‘whatcha hungry for cos we got it’ menu. More than fair prices and generous, fresh high quality food at take home the extra portions. Too bad 10 stars aren’t an option. Eat in the bar. Jillian and Lex take the whole Cap City Diner experience to a higher, super friendly fun level!
Finu Lukose
Food is always solid here. Service is always friendly as well. I would say the quality is good but maybe during the pandemic, they have had to cut down their menu and some of the dishes seem smaller.
Lizzy Woodburn
Highly recommend! Amazing meatloaf and chicken! Service was more than outstanding!
Jon W
Great atmosphere, amazing food, and Reagan was so good to us. She took amazing care of us two nights in a row
Cleveland Johnson
It was my first time there,I loved it lol
Jimmy Razor
Cap City Diner is my family's go-to for special occasion dining: birthdays and anniversaries. Great steaks, burgers, fish, and salads. The chocolate cake is amazing.
Scott Basinger
I've been to Cap City on numerous occasions over the last few years and am yet to have a less than pleasant experience. As with other Cameron Mitchell restaurants, service and food quality are top-notch. I love trying something new whenever I come in but my favorites have to be the blue cheese chips and the meatloaf.
As long as they keep making this tasty food, I will keep coming back.
Becky Trout
Awesome experience! Great food and great service!!
Cowboy Wong
We are from out of town. Nice place but not really sure why its called a diner. Wife had the signature pecan pork chop, excellent and huge. I had the balsamic chicken-good. Mussels to start were just OK. We came just b4 close on a sunday night so they were out of many selections. Service was very good. Decor is nice (bathrooms need some help) and free parking! Nice experience after a long day, I am glad we tried it.
Bryan Lowe
Stopped in for 2 to-go desserts. Ended up taking 20+ minutes. Thr brownie was pretty disappointing. It was cut into three pretty small squares.....😒. Chocolate cake was legit as usual though.
Steven Miller
Oh the food and atmosphere out of this world. Its the place to go with a lil nostalgia and a modern twist. And if you want to hang out on the weekend watching football hey they have pre-order service for your safety and convenience. I recommend the humongous burger and fries 🍟 priceless.🔥🔥🔥🤤 …
Jay B
Parmasean crusted chicken meal was good. Service was fast for a lunch rush and overall I enjoyed myself.
I was eyeimg their enormous chocolate cake from a couple tables over and may try a piece next time.
David Wood
One of my favorite places to go in Columbus. The food is always good, and everyone there is super friendly. I have tried about half of the menu, but usually get the Romano chicken. The pork chop is also pretty amazing, and the desserts are awesome. They should bring back the Key Lime pie though. Bottom line is that if it looks like you will like something, then you probably will love it. This is even true for the roasted vegetable plate, and I am no vegetarian! The pot roast special is a must have, but I think they only have it on Thursday. This is a very safe bet any day of the week though.
hood ceo
Deeeelish! Veggies could of been cooked a little more, sara was bomb, out door seating is clutch, Arnold Palmer was tasty, and i can't believe this was my first time (won't be my last). I ordered the bleu cheese chips, creole tomato soup, veggie platter w/ humus...that mushroom tho!!!
Charles P.
Decent place close to campus. Upscale diner food. Awesome rolls.
Rae DiGuiseppi
Very pricey, but soooo worth it! Went on a Thursday and got the pot roast, which was incredible, and reasonably priced. I HIGHLY suggest the banana bread pudding, it is to die for! 😍 I'd suggest making reservations, because they seem to always be busy and finding a parking spot is a nightmare. So if you make a reservation, you'll have plenty of time beforehand to find parking and get a seat!
Lisa M. Harris
Delicious food, great service, warm cozy atmosphere. 😊 My friend said there are more great menu items that are a must try! 😋 It wasn't my first visit, definitely NOT my last! …
M G.A
Loved the atmosphere and decor. We did not have the best server and the food was just ok. Do not feel the cost matched the quality or portion size of the food. I expect a high bill when I go to eat because there are 5 of us but this definitely was not worth the money even for the atmosphere and decor.
John Lee
I had an appointment they couldn’t fit me in sooner so I went to Capital City for a to go order. Had issues finding entrance. The lady was very helpful and friendly. Was not kidding about how good the food was. Especially the fries believe it or not. Had not been to a Cameron Mitchell establishment until now. Very impressed not too pricey like I expected.
Jaycee Bee
Never disappoints! My favorite dishes are the meatloaf, the balsamic chicken, the salmon, and for dessert, the chocolate cake, of course. The service is always impeccable. Love the food :) (Make a reservation - or you'll be waiting)
August Robinette
When you pay 12.99 for chicken pot pie you expect it to be really good, well the veggies were alittle more crunchy than they should have been, my mother in law who is 85yrs. old who could not eat the vegetables. Then it had a puff pastry disc on top of the dish, and it was tough. My husband had liver and onions, the liver was tender but they had a bbq sauce on it, not great.
Brittany Yarnell
The waitstaff was polite and made sure our drinks were always full. We got the blue cheese chips which were great! The meatloaf sandwich and Philly sandwich were just okay. I'd come back from drinks at the bar, but not dinner.

Today I'm here with my niece. My 1st time but not hers. We started with Blue Cheese Chips she loves them and I enjoyed them too. It's a special day for just her and I to be together before she starts school. I tried their Romano chicken and pasta, she had the Cap City club sandwich with fries. Our server was very nice he was on point pertaining to our lunch and beverages. What a wonderful day with our niece 👧💕

I had the Southern fried chicken. It wasn't exactly what I expected but I was quite pleased with what I got. Probably the best green beens I've had in ages. The chicken was very tender and flavorful. The mashed potatoes and gravy dropped the ball just a little but that is just my taste. Now hang on folks, the Red raspberry pie with vanilla bean ice cream was enough to make the entire meal worth it. Dang Doggy was that good.

I love this place! The food is great! The prices are reasonable and service is fabulous. It’s the best diner experience I’ve ever had. The decor is superb.

Cap City Diner is a consistently good place to eat hardy well proportioned American fare. The best known for their meatloaf and chocolate cake most of the items on the menu are very good there's virtually something for everyone.
During the warm weather months to have a nice patio with seating for dinars along with an outdoor bar.
Couples small to mid-size groups or families Cap City Diner is a great option. Pricing is middle of the road there are far better option than a chain restaurant.
Note they don't take reservations so on a busy nights expect a short wait. Their service is fast and I don't think I've ever waited more than 45 minutes and normally it's 15 minutes or less to get a table.

Excellent food. Far exceeded expectations. Cool vibe atmosphere as a small diner with character. Everything was great.

We love Cap City Diner! Meals a huge and worth every penny. I believe it is my favorite restaurant! Service is top notch! Try everything! I try something different every time I go and have not been disappointed. Can't say enough great things about this place! Love it! Do not skip desert!

Five of us had Sunday brunch, my wife had a mimosa and I had a bloody margarita both were very tasty. Everyone's food came out timely and prepared as expected. My wife had eggs benedict in which she requested they switch out the ham with salmon and the restaurant did so without any issue. I had the eggs on hash and it was perfect along with the serving size being more than i could handle.

Love this place. Good food and friendly staff.

We went for an early dinner on a Saturday and had no problem being seated, though all of the booths had already been reserved. We weren't disappointed with the cocktail selection, and I really appreciated the beer flight offering when I didn't want to choose a draft.
We were especially happy with the expertise exhibited in food preparation and presentation. The broccoli crowns were bright green and tender without bitterness; the calimari was crunchy and tender inside without being oily or rubbery. I am pleased that, for an older Cameron Mitchell property, there is no trace of decaying quality.

The food is amazing! Love the Thursday Pot Roast special and their Rum Runners. Haven’t had a bad meal ever! One of our favorites when visiting Cbus.

The service was great. The place is very reminiscent of an old diner. If you're looking for a really tasty 15 dollar cheeseburger, this is the place for you.

I recently had a bad experience there, but they restored my faith as the manager contacted me to talk through some issues, they seem genuinely interested in making it worth the money you pay, so that made me feel better. She said they were addressing some menu changes as well as staffing that were affected by Covid-19. They do seem to care what you think!

Great fish today, service wonderful
but they are not sitting people 6 ft apart, now to be fair to the restaurant tables are divided by a plastic divider but it is not very high my husband's head came to the top Of that divider so his head was inches from the person's head in the booth behind him. Guess head to head is ok, it was not busy so I would have thought they would have skipped a booth, not the case today.

Didnt have the best experience. Made a reservation but still had to wait 30 minutes for a table. We were sat on the outdoor patio, which after passing thru a nice diner to get to our table, sitting on lawn furniture on a cold, rainy night was less than ideal and didnt feel like we were even at the restaurant. The grilled cheese sandwich was not good, the cheese wasnt melted and the bread wasnt toasted. However, my boyfriend had the meatloaf sandwich which he did like. Our server was also good, he was attentive and nice!

Overall the times I have went to this establishment the food had been great but this time was a bit different. Me and my wife usually go to the Gahanna location and the food is always consistent but this time her good friend was having a dinner at the location near OSU and the food wasn't the best. The people at our table said the food wasn't as hot, it wasn't seasoned properly, and my favorite dessert is there banana bread pudding and I was disappoint because it was barely hot enough to eat.

Solid restaurant with great ambiance. Cinnamon rolls as free bread for brunch was a nice touch. Not somewhere I would 100% go to every time I was considering places to go out to eat, but certainly not bad by any means.

If I could give 10 stars for the service I would!! Our server Alexys was amazing! Being our first time visiting she broke down each section of the menu letting us know what most people order and what her favorites are. The baked Italian chicken sub was perfect! The chicken was so juicy and the sandwich is very filling. The Romano crusted chicken was very good. The sauce is great with the chicken . And don't forget to try an amazing strawberry shortcake! Cap City is sooooo good. I see why the place is so busy!

My COVID-19 experience can be summed up in one noun: Olivia! She was fantastic! Not only was she so helpful and kind, she definitely took the time out to be a caring person. Efficient communication, timely service and most importantly, she represented the company well. I hope Olivia’s superiors will learn about her work ethic. I am likely to return to this location because of her.

Came in with some friend from out of town and wanted to try something new. Everything we ordered was amazing and full of flavor. Complements to everyone who took part in our amazing meal. We will definitely return again.

The food was delicious as always and the wait staff was friendly and attentive in spite of the holiday weekend crowd.

So to put it bluntly, it was absolutely the best meal I can ever remember having. My girlfriend and I got the warm pretzel with beer cheese fondue and honey mustard which was absolutely heavenly! Then we got the Philly cheese steak sandwich and meatloaf melt, and neither of us have ever had anything that tasted so good it was all simply Devine!!!!
To finish it off we had the warm brownie Sunday which was exactly as good as you would hope and expect it to be!!!
Oh and to top it off all of that plus a beer and a tip came out to right at $50! Also the service was crazy quick!
It's simple, if you're in the area and choose to eat anywhere else then you're wrong!

Excellent food and staff was very friendly

The waiter was knowledgeable about allergies and took care to ensure that I was safely taken care of and able to have an enjoyable meal.

Good experience. Our server Karli was very pleasant and did a great job serving us. O would have gave 5 stars but I wasn't crazy about the Banana bread pudding. We should've got one of the other deserts.
Buffy Riffle
A+ Food, service, atmosphere, and pricing.

Ricky was our server at the bar outside and was pleasant, competent and generous - she even replaced a full second drink after a clutsy moment by me. We enjoyed our Happy Hour choices: signature blue cheese alfredo topped potato chips, the tamarind wings and hot and sour calamari. So yum!
The portions were big, and the food was delicious. We met Brian and Kristin - both of Cameron Mitchell - who were fun, positive and gracious; they made my mother's visit to Columbus a memorable one. We will be back to Cap City because of wonderful experience we had.

Food, atmosphere and service were all wonderful!

One word, Excellent!! Cap City is great for a business lunch or family Sunday dinner. I have never had bad service or a bad meal here. You just can't go wrong with a Cameron Mitchell restaurant in Columbus.

It was OK. The dinner has a very casual appearance menu, but surprisingly carries decent wines, which says a lot. The flat bread and blue cheese fries are so delicious.
For dinner I ordered two glasses of wine and a carrot cake. Yes, that was my dinner. I also had a taste of the rich chocolate cake and the key lime pie. The carrot cake is the winner.

Appetizers and drinks with a family member on their way through town. Wonderful atmosphere and delicioys apps/ drinks. Highly recommend.

Can't go wrong with this place, ever. Great food and atmosphere and will always be one of my favorite places to eat! Casual or can be romantic for dining as well.

Best meatloaf dinner in town. Pair it with a classic milkshake (Johnson's Ice Cream) and you can't go wrong. Excellent service tops off a Columbus gem.

Wonderful experience. Food was amazing. Our waitress was very attentive without being annoying. I had the liver and onions while my boyfriend had the cod and shrimp. Highly recommended!
