Today was my first time trying Sokolata, and I was very happy with my experience. The restaurant itself looked clean and we were taken care of quickly after coming in. We placed our order and had our food within probably 10 minutes. I got the Famous Gyro, some chips, a Cheesecake, and some baklava. The Gyro was excellent, the sauce and toppings were very flavorful and fresh, and the flavor of the meat was great as well. The chips were the biggest surprise. I'm not sure if they make them in the restaurant or if they're a purchased brand, but I could've eaten 2 lbs of those chips. They had a great salty potato flavor, and were thick cut but not difficult to bite into. They were very good. The baklava was very sweet and flaky, with very good balance of flavors as well. Just watch out for the cloves lol. The Cheesecake was good as well, but not as good as the rest of the things I had today. Sokolata has a very full menu, and if the rest is as good as the things I tried today, I'm looking forward to trying other things. The Gelato flavors looked delicious too, but didn't have time to try any out today. Definitely give them a try if you haven't!

We tried this restaurant out and we’re excited to do so. We waited pretty long to be acknowledged and assisted. We got a few things. We paid for double chicken in the gyro, clearly we did not receive it. Our wings weren’t fully cooked. They have beautiful gelato and pastry options. To their credit I called to express my concerns and the young woman that took my call was apologetic & offered to redo our order at our convenience. We later decided against it. The best part of our interaction with the staff was the petite brown skin young lady. She was amazing and professional.

Seated quickly. Had a larger party of people.(10ish people) Service was great and decently quick. Appetizers came out at the same time as the food, some stuff was forgotten but received quickly after. Dessert was meh, crust was super hard. Pizzas were delicious, a little on the softer side crust wise. Moderately priced.

Sokolata is conveniently located on MacCorkle Avenue in South Charleston, very close to Thomas Memorial Hospital. Their restaurant has a bright, cheery atmosphere with friendly staff. They offer delicious food and really nice desserts. It's worth a trip for everyone to try!

Excellent food, and excellent service, at a reasonable price! Today I had the famous gyro with fries, on the first day they served fries! The gyro was excellent, and the fries (fresh-cut I think) were perfectly done, not at all greasy and with a generous coating of salt, and delicious! They also offer freshly-made chips. I think I'm going to try everything on the menu! Bonus points for using non-latex nitrile gloves, for those of us with a latex allergy!

First timer, and we'll be back! We were patrons of the owner's previous restaurants, and always had terrific food and service. Today, after driving by since they opened a few years ago, we finally ordered - and devoured - takeout from Sokolata. The salads were generous portions, prepared fresh, and delicious! The staff were very friendly and our order was ready in minutes, all with a mostly-full dine-in area and busy drive-through. Thank you Sokolata!

The food was great and had good-sized portions. We were there on a Tuesday evening. There was a large group that was very demanding, and I think this greatly impacted the service as there was only one server. There were several other parties of 2- 4 , but not crazy busy. The food was really good, so we will go back and hope the service was a one-off situation.

It has been a while since I've been here. It has improved a lot. They were short on help so service was slow but the staff was doing all they could to take good and friendly care of the customers and the food was full of flavor and plenty of it to fill you up. My neighbor took me there for my birthday, she had never been there but enjoyed everything as well. Big 👍

The owner is always there to help out. I pickup orders for delivery. The orders are always ready to go. I haven’t tried the food or desserts yet but, I plan to. They look so delicious in the window case where you place an order.

The gyros were authentic and delicious with a yummy side of homemade tzatziki. If you're a hummus fan, the appetizer serving was generous and the best I've tasted in town. Save room for dessert because the cakes and gelato were amazing.

Gyro was vert dry and veggies were almost invisible. I had asked for extra sauce and didn't get. Pitas were tuff and hard to bite off. Was told humus had garlic but tasted very plain and no garlic favor. Not worth going back. Will go to Best of Crete on Chas west side hill

Sokolata is still excellent! I come here often and every time the food is unbeatable and the service is awesome! Doesn't really matter what you order, everything I have had from the menu is top notch and every waiter/waitress I have had has been great! My wife thinks the same thing as well. We will continue to treat ourselves often by coming to Sokolata for lunch or dinner or date night.

Nice owner and staff. The salads are so fresh and tasty. I had the lasagna and it was the best I've ever had. They also sell gelado and that alone is worth the visit. They're open to 10pm on Friday's and Saturday's.

Extremely tasteful food good service I had the mint chip ice cream and chicken parmesan and lemon cheesecake. The ice cream was thick and took over 30 mins to melt at all you can tell they use real creme. However not 5 stars because it's extremely pricey. Other than that you get exactly what you pay for. Quality.

From the day this place opened we have been trying items on their menu a little at a time. We have enjoyed everything we have bought from Sokolata. We just ordered a birthday cake from here. The people working here are always cheerful and very helpful. As long as the food here stays this good we will continue shopping here.

My wife took me out on a date and decided to go here. I'd never been but she had before. I ordered the four cheese tortellini and all I could say is excellent!! Also had some of the gelato mint flavored and it was a good way to end a great dinner from a comfortable environment to friendly staff. This is definitely a place to stop

It was good food and great service. I got the famous gyro wife got the calzone and daughter got cheese pizza. Enough food that we order more than we suggested. Worth it. It has became our one of our best restaurants to eat at. Our server was Anthony and kept our drinks full and made sure how is it and do we need anything. I remember this place.

Great ice cream and cake! I tried the lemonade flavor and didn’t really know what to expect but it was great! The chocolate cake they make reminds me of the chocolate cake in the movie Matilda. That’s high praise. Edit: took a star off because they cut hours without updating the times online. That to me is a big nope. But the desserts are still good you just should call ahead to see if they are open that day.

First off, I waited sooooo long for my food. I went inside because I'd never been here before. They were really busy when I went in but it started to die down as I stood there waiting to order. No one else was in line. It took about 15 mins of standing there to finally order, I would have left if I wasn't starving and already inside. I ordered a salad, a gyro, and a cafe mocha. I waited in the lobby for about 20 mins for my order to come out. They weren't busy after I ordered but it still took that long. The waitress was so nice. She was super friendly and did her job with a smile. I took the food to go and realized they didn't give me my coffee so I went through the drive-thru to get it. I waited another 5 mins for it to come out. When I got home, I was disappointed with the salad. It was expensive and not impressive at all. My husband said his gyro was good though. All in all, there was a lot of waiting and don't order a salad, make one at home. Coffee was okay.

The prices seemed a bit high until I saw the portion size! What a pleasant surprise. The food was fantastic, the service was wonderful! I had been meaning to try this place since they opened a few years ago, but tonight was the first time. I will most definitely go back!

First visit. Steak sandwich was hot, tasty and plentiful. Large hoagie, shredded steak, melted cheese but skimpy on vegetables. No condiments were available upon request. Came with chips. Some were tough and some crisp. I only tried a few. Beverage was water, no lemon available.. Desserts were displayed under glass and looked yummy. Service was good. Total of $22 with tax and tip for two, a bit pricey.

I've stopped here twice this month for take out. The new store is bigger and looks nice for dining in. Take out menu has a lot of choices. I can recommend the calzones. Great crust! The hummus and gyros are also great. Everything I've taken home has been well received.

How has it taken me this long to try thia place out?? I met a friend for lunch and it was a great experience. The guy who greeted us was polite, knowledgeable and energetic. There are so many directions you can go here. Looking for a calzone? Mediterranean? Awesome sandwich? Or just looking for a great salad? They have it all. I went with a pita and hummus appetizer and the avocado salad. Both tasted great and the presentation was on point. The food was served quickly and they kept my drink full. Ni wonder there were so many people there for lunch. Keep up the good work. Also, you should swing by the restaurant for the gelato... it looked fabulous!

Good food. Subs are a little thin, especially for the price. If they had a little more substance to them and were a little cheaper, I'd go there much more often. I'm sure the desserts are good, but way too pricey. EDIT: Moved them down to 3 stars. They seem to be slacking off. Meat on subs STILL way to thin for how pricey they are. Chips too greasy, which means they were kept in too long and/or the oil was not at high enough temp. Cooked right, fried chips shouldnt be greasy.

Best places in town Barbarossa is great with italien flare but sokolade has my mmmm mmmmm good the hazelnut gelato brings me back to my childhood the gyros are authentic , the cakes are amazingly beautiful decorated just love standing in front of the case and admire them . My go to place .

Guys I'm telling you, this place makes pastries like something out of an anime. The traditional baklava and cookies while great, are background to the amazing cakes and tartlets they sell. Everything is made fresh and stock gets rotated daily. If you are in the area, highly recommend.

We didn't dine in we went thru the drive thru which is VERY DANGEROUS to get out of! Food was ok but was not worth the price we paid
