The service and hospitality were beyond great. My daughters commented on how it was genuine and not just someone looking for a tip. The breakfast foods were great. The eggs cooked as ordered, and the bacon was crispy. Also, they have strawberry pie. We got on to go because we were full from the food.

The staff were very friendly. They really seem to care for the customers. The food was average to mediocre. Most items were bland. The only lettuce they had on the salad bar was iceberg lettuce. Good value for the money though. You won't go away hungry.

We had our Thanksgiving dinner here and it was absolutely wonderful! They had a wide variety in meat & sides. They offered a real sliced turkey and also processed turkey. They said customer's preferred both. I prefer processed and my husband prefers real sliced. The had a beautiful smoked apple ham. Fried chicken, country fried steak, spaghetti & meatballs. Stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, creamed corn, Mac and cheese, cabbage, and so much more. If people left hungry, I couldn't understand that! They had their beautiful salad & fruit bar & pumpkin pie. Nothing at all to complain about at all!! ❤️❤️❤️ This is the first time David, Olivia, I have gotten to visit since before COVID and we weren't disappointed at all. I think the price was appropriate per person and we were happy to find Shoney's was open and not just 2 other restaurants further away that was serving no variety. Thank you so much Kanawha BLVD Shoney's for always being delicious and there! 😀

Service (waitress) was great, restaurant was clean. The restaurant was definitely a family atmosphere, which was great because we had our 3 young children with us! Every time I went to the bar, there were more and more empty pans of food. Not sure if that’s because they were switching to dinner or what, but it was only 2pm 🤷🏼‍♀️

All the staff is so friendly. Calvin, the gentleman who waited our table gave us the best service we've ever received. He knows how to interact with people and make them feel at home. I would definitely recommend checking this shoneys out!

The service was great. Our server was very nice and attentive. The breakfast bar was mediocre across the board. The biscuits are obviously frozen. The sausage was burnt. Some of the food containers were empty. Disappointing.

Very sweet servers but unfortunately cold and odd tasting food when I been there twice recently (only the green beans and mashed potatoes have been satisfying) and I had an odd conversation exiting last time with my food trying to get to go box that I ask the server for and they must have forgotten.. at the front they claimed that you can't leave with their food and I just didn't bother to argue. But yeah. It's worth a shot.

The breakfast bar had, over baked biscuits , french toast was hard. Had to wait for three dishes to be refilled But we were blessed to have a gentleman from the military to pay for our breakfast. That was Amazing 😍

Had been awhile since we'd been able to eat at this particular franchise, mainly because their far and in between anymore. Food was good as expected and our waiter Calvin was very polite and attentive. Definitely recommend and would return if we happen to be in the area.

This is the best Shoney's we have been to. We enjoy Shoney's in general - the prices are decent, the food is usually a step above the average and the selection is much larger than most. They have a good buffet - a large cold food area (fruit, jello, pudding), a large salad bar (including an Asian salad section with sliced strawberries!), a dessert bar, and then a hot food area that has about 20 things to choose from including a few soups. This Shoney's was very clean and felt modern with a bar to sit at and a more open dining area making it easier to move around. They also have a neat gift section including many different items likes stuffed animals, clothing and accessories.

I’m so glad we still have a Shoney’s around. The salad and buffet bar is still delicious. Our waitress was bubbly, singing Christmas songs, and assuring our drinks were refilled.

I was disappointed that you can't order much anymore. The bar is 11.99 and has typical stuff. We really wanted made to order but the choices were slim. My mom wasn't totally happy at the choice of restaurant anyway, then she was less than impressed with the food.

Admittedly, I haven't been to a Shoney's in quite some time, so my memory is being tested. That being said, this visit was disappointing, at least for the breakfast buffet. We were on the late side, for breakfast; that may have have been an issue, but it shouldn't matter. All of the items were plentiful and the buffet was and the facilities were clean. The service was good. Next time, I believe I'll order from the menu.

The food was fine, but the service was not great. We got the breakfast bar that was being transitioned into lunch. It was good. I've had Shoney's many times and enjoyed it. The hostess showed us to our table and it took a while for our waitress to realize we were there and get us silverware and drinks. She said no one told her they'd sat us there. When we left, our check had been paid by someone else by mistake and so they had us pay for that person's check. Luckily the totals were within a few dollars of one another. As we left there was a verbal altercation between staff in the kitchen area that could be heard by most of the restaurant. Overall, just a bleh experience for brunch.

Went there yesterday for lunch, even after reading the negative reviews, and was very happy I went. The waiter was extremely nice and the buffet was great. Spoke with the manager afterwards to let him know how good their place and staff was.

Most of the staff is great,cant remember the great waiters name? Slender black man funny AF makes it more enjoyable everytime we go. Nice to have someone think ahead and bring us both 2 drinks and everything we needed without needing to ask him. I've been to 3 different Shoyney's this year and they are all different now. Limited menu, more focused on the food bar/buffet option. Food was good. Service Ok. Pricey. I would call and ask what menu items they have and which bar they are offering.

BUFFET REVIEW: For the price this place is a 3 star. The main dishes should stand out if you're gonna charge about the same price as other buffets, who have loads of more items to choose from. The mashed potatoes and all the other southern starch side dishes are good but usually wherever you go they are good. Just kinda bleh buffet overall.

It is shoneys Buffett so it is what I expected. The service was ok - the food was good but not really good. They have a senior deal on the buffet so it was a great value. I would stop by again because of the variety of food on the buffet and the senior pricing. The ice cream machine was broken so that was a little disappointing

Shoney's food to me sucks really bad I hate to say that it's not too badly priced for going to lunch you basically have hamburger spaghetti potatoes Fried Chicken catfish it's not a whole lot of options it's very small but for a small Buffet it's not too bad it's it's around $12 a head for lunch plus your drink if you get water it saves you money

It's been years since we were able to eat at Shoney's. The food was very good and the service was wonderful. But on one of the hottest days the air conditioning wasn't working. Hopefully they were able to get it fixed. Looking to dining there again.

Food was a bit on the cold side my server was sweet as pie. However one server a male maybe 40 stout black hair and queenish had a really bad attitude complaining very loud about how he makes $2 an hour and shouldn't have to wash a dish because that's not his job title. His general attitude made the entire dining experience horrible. And so I rushed eating and left just a bad vibe. But shayrell my sever was a great personality and I think her name was Katy was a delight she was working hard and had a smile.

First time having Shoney’s in many years since they closed almost all locations. We drove from Huntington area to Charleston on business and were delighted that there was a Shoney’s right where we were going. Food was excellent and our waitress Cherelle was probably the best waitress I’ve ever experienced. She was very friendly and attentive without being pesty. All the other staff was just as friendly too even the cashier was wonderful.

I was so excited when I realized this area still has a Shoney's! It is exactly as you remember it from the 80s / 90s. They still sell the Shoney's bears up front, along with a wide selection of Shoney's memorabilia that would put CB on edge. Pies are also on sale for takeout. The brunch buffet is unparalleled with all your traditional fixins alongside some healthy favorites.

It's been a few years since I've ate at Shoneys. The buffet was really good. The prime rib was excellent as was the shrimp, veggies, and hush puppies. The staff was also super friendly and helpful with our airline vouchers. Great dinner experience.

The food was great - as usual! The waiter left a great deal to be desired. He seemed to be bothered that we expected service from him. Several of us had to go get our own beverage refills. Dishes and glasses stacked up and we moved them to surrounding tables so we could have space to set the dishes we were using.

It was OK. All you can eat bar was fine. Food was hot and replenished fairly quickly. However, I ordered off the menu. That was a disaster. My food was slow coming. Didn't get what we asked for. A very lame reason why we couldn't get what we ordered. So I guess they r so focused on the all you can eat bar everything else suffers. Thankfully the manager fixed the problems promptly. Gave us 10% off the bill. I felt should been more since food went back 3x and I didn't eat but the bread. Til next time I guess.

You may want to wait a little longer to eat at the Charleston Boulevard Shoney's, as it is only offering its Buffet. Also, not everyone wore a mask, while serving themselves AT the buffet....or plastic gloves...THEY provide. We did, even tho we both were fully vaccinated. Just hope I will not be getting any Covid side effects from the experience. Please exercise caution, as we did!!! 🙏

The downtown Shoneys recently renovated and added a bar. A real bar! It's only open until 11 p.m. but what an unexpected change. The food is still the same, which is fair enough. The soup, salad and dinner bar is a favorite, where one can fix what they want and as much as they want, for there are plenty of choices. Just be careful not to over eat! The order menu is a nice option to prevent that behavior, and servers are super friendly and fast.

I went on steak and sea food night. The steaks then had on the bar were small I am guessing tenderloins. They were very flavorful. I also had the mashed potatoes. mac and cheese and rolls. Their brown gravy is one my my favorites. Did not try any seafood

Overall good experience, my waitress was awesome my only complaint is y'all changed from sausage patties to links. I like the patties better and make more bacon. Honey them people were like vultures on that bacon when that lady would fill it. It would be gone in less than 5 minutes. I watched her refill it 3 times while I was there and every time it would be gone in minutes. Again great experience just like the old sausage patties better.

We had a decent time. The food wasn't fabulous but our service was. How could it not be when it's a buffet and you pretty much serve yourself? The upsell on the drinks to go should be mentioned. I mean, I guess I should know a to go cup costs extra but the server should have confirmed that during the upsell.

It was a Friday night, and they were not really busy at all. The prime rib/seafood bar was adequate, tho the prime rib was very fatty.( so we didnt try it) our waitress was very friendly, and checked on us often to refill drinks.

This place has come up within the past year or so. They now have a bar and serve alcohol. They offer very cheap beer (cheapest around town). The food is pretty good. I recommend the hot fudge cake.....so delicious. They even run a special every so often for a free piece of the hot fudge cake.

I had the breakfast buffet and coffee, as is my wont. The food was hearty and hot, and sated my carnivorous cravings. The coffee was hot and bitter, like the tears I shed when paying my bills, and the staff was attentive and cordial, unlike myself in social gatherings. I've been going to Shoney's restaurant for fifty years, longer than I've been alive, and they rarely disappoint my gustative requirements. Of particular note was the kindness shown by the staff, in refilling my coffee. Not only was my waitress attentive and perspicatious of my coffee requirements, but another waitress saw my lowered level of java, and, like God on high granting succor to the Israelites wandering the desert in their time of need, refilled my coffee.

It's home to a genuine feeling of home town hospitality . Always someone there to do what needs doing. Anything anytime. From serving you just some freshly brewed coffee or tea or fixing flavored coffees or teas , to just appearing with the napkin or straws or refils at the right time. Timing is key. To presenting you with you're updated check to include dessert choices after dinner drinks such as coffees flavored it plain fresh brewed. It's an amazing cup of coffee whether you like them flavored or with cream flavors such as french vanilla Carmel macchiato it sweet Italian cream or just plain half and half creamery. It's all the little touches that get done for every single guest all day long from beginning to ending. Realize every one is loyal to you if the keep coming back or ask for you . This is the best Shoney's that i have been to. The breakfast is always fresh. The bacon is unlimited and the eggs and melted cheese is addicting. This establishment is a safe bet if you are looking for something convenient and satisfactory.

I eat at Shoney’s for lunch at least three or four times a month, I like the fried chicken especially the chicken legs, I asked my waitress if they had any more chicken legs and she said they are frying some would be ready in about 15 minutes, the chicken fryer personally brought two chicken legs out my table, fantastic service.
