Great atmosphere - really beautiful inside, with a variety of delicious fine dining entrees and attentive, friendly service. They offer souffles on their dessert menu - be sure to let them know ahead of time as they take 40 minutes to prepare but they are well worth the wait. The restaurant is right on the river with an excellent view of the water.

First time here to this elegant resturant. Stacy, the host, seated us near a window looking out towards the city. We started with a glass of wine and a well made dirty Martini by Patrick. No appetizers this day. Our server was Mo. She was so good, and attentive. Her smile and friendliness added to a super night celebrating my wife's birthday. My Mrs had the Petit Fillet Mignon with mashed potatoes. She also had the creamed spinach. It was the first time I saw her "clean her plate" it was that good, she said. I had the Veal Piccata over linguine. Lots of capers and delicious flavor. For sides we ordered the Artichoke Au Gratin. You've got to try this one! Also, I always have to try Mac n Cheese. It was made with large spring pasta and definitely different cheeses. It was good. We finished with a Pretzel Brownie with Vanalla Bean ice cream. It was on the house for her birthday. All in all, we would rate this the finest resturant in the entire Charleston area. We love trying resturants over the years and have traveled extensively. This is one if those that fits into our top five.

Fantastic dining experience for my wife's birthday. Upon arrival we quickly realized we was under dressed, never being before we was unaware the atmosphere. Service was spot on, the cuisine was so flavorful and delicious. 10/10

I emailed the restaurant a week prior to the reservation, on their site, and using their info. I did not hear back. Mind you, I live in western time zone. My ask was to celebrate a birthday at dinner. The response from the hostess was that the person responsible for responding is also cooking, and she listed multiple other tasks. I’m so sorry, Chef Laury, that your business model doesn’t allow for others to manage these tasks. I’m also sorry my steak was over cooked and your hostess was less than customer-centric. Thank god you are small town.

Recommend you check this place out. The only negative that we had to say, while having dinner here, is that the bar tender didn't really know what an Old Fashioned drink should be. It wasn't prepared well and it was presented in a weird glass that took away from the experience too. Otherwise, our dinner was great and the atmosphere was great, service was great! The table side Caesar salad was a great show and was delicious. My husband had a ribeye and I had the Asian flavored salmon dish. Now that I think about it, I wouldn't recommend the carrots. The cut made the doneness inconsistent.

Awesome restaurant! They were super jammed on Valentine’s Day and some guy threw a tantrum over not being able to sit at a bar that doesn’t have seats, the staff didn’t miss a beat! Imagine going to a restaurant on Valentine’s Day as a walk in and expecting to get a table?? Guy was a joke. Anyway, food was great, service was great, and the boomer side show was just delightful

Very elegant place and atmosphere. The food was out of this world! Pictured is the lobster bisque, the shrimp, scallop and crab Diablo and the cheesecake. All of it was phenomenal! My husband had their filet mignon and it was tender and just melted in your mouth. All around, the experience, our waiter and our food was fantastic and well worth the price.

This was our first time visiting this restaurant and we LOVED it!!! The food was phenomenal! We literally used butter knives to cut our steak..absolute perfection! It was slightly odd however that they take your entire order at the beginning of the meal but everything was timed out perfectly. I am crazy when it comes to timing food because I do not want my salad before my appetizer or my appetizer with my steak. They have perfected this. It is definitely an amazing experience and the atmosphere was superb. We will definitely be going back and I can't wait! I ordered the filet ordered medium rare, and it was great, perfectly cooked. The Caesar salad was a little strong on the taste of anchovies, but it was still good. French onion soup was great. The shrimp cocktail were huge! Also, a friend that we were with ordered a lobster tail and it was delivered off the shell, i wouldve ordered one had i known that! The staff were all very friendly as well, again, we can not wait to go back and we definitely can't stop saying all good things about this place!!

Dinner was fantastic! Service was excellent. All pro’s on Valentine’s Day. Watched the staff handle an old man throwing a fit, with grace, that he didn’t deserve. Walks in on Valentine’s night demanding to be seated. Doesn’t work that way, dude. Lol. We will definitely be back.

My fiancé and I went at the recommendation of one of the locals. Thankfully they were able to squeeze our reservation in with relatively short notice. They did not disappoint! Wonderful service from Charles and excellent food. The escargot was our favorite 😊

We came to Laury’s for dinner thanks to online search recommendations. We are so glad we found this restaurant. Beautiful location, in a historic building across from the river, with great views of it. Very elegant and classy restaurant, pretty decor and ambiance. The service was very attentive and not stuffy. To compliment it all there was the food, everything was made very well and tasted so good. Also, it is one of the few fine restaurants anywhere that still prepares table side dishes, like the Caesar salad and the banana fosters that we ordered. They have a full bar, a large wine selection, and several options for port by the glass. We were surprised that it was not overpriced like many restaurants at this level. We would love to come back!!!!

Right from when we walked in the door, to when we were leaving, the reception, the service, the ambiance was spectacular. The food was great, not 1 person working in there made us feel irritated. We come from Canada 🇨🇦. We will be back to Laury's everytime we will drive through this area!

We are from Ohio and were just passing through, but our amazing visit will bring us back for sure. We stopped in for desert and drinks, on a night when they were packed with a large group and lots of patrons. We just really wanted to try the bananas foster (and they were to die for, by the way!). The hostess was so kind and helpful and found a server willing to take us. Our waitress was FANTASTIC. Even though we knew she was slammed with other tables, she had a welcoming smile and an upbeat attitude, and took her time with us. Probably one of the best restaurant experiences we have ever had. Thank you, Claire! You absolutely made our night! 10/10

This was a perfect dinner. Steak Diane-5 Stars, Oysters Rockafeller 5 Stars, Lobster stuffed mushrooms-5 Stars, Lobster Ravioli 5-Stars. Service was exceptional, food was incredible, atmosphere was wonderful. Overall I think it tops my list of favorites. If I had died before eating at this restaurant I would have felt cheated. We do not live in the area and we were traveling. Ate here after we had got into the hotel earlier than expected. All I can say is I can’t wait to get back to Charleston West Virginia so that I can eat at this restaurant again.

Amazing food if you're willing to wait. I called for reservations about 10 minutes after they opened and I still had to wait for over an hour when I arrived. But like so many things in life, anything good is worth waiting for.

Absolutely amazing. Staff was very polite and kind. Warm bread was amazing. My steak was cooked perfectly. The potatos were great. And get the brownie!!! That might have been the best part of the meal, and everything was absolutely delicious. Next time I'm in the area I will be back.

Laury's is the best restaurant in Charleston, WV. The food...the service and the location made the evening a wonderful experience! We were seated at a table with a gorgeous view of the river and the bridge...I wish I would have remembered to take a photo to post. Our server Richard was EXCELLENT...he really added to the enjoyment of the evening. We also had AWESOME cocktails by Hannah! The Hostess Shelly was super friendly and also we met Betty who we enjoyed nice conversation with as well. Kudos to the team at Laury's!!

Awesome food and great service! This is the 2nd time I've been here. Last time was 16 years ago and the food and service is just as good now as I remember it. Very low-key and relaxed atmosphere as well. Great place to go to celebrate a special occasion. It's not cheap, but you won't get as good of food or service anywhere else locally.

My wife and I are in our 60s and this is a top 10 all time restaurant based on our travels in the US and Europe. Superb service from Glen with recommendations, perfect pacing and service. Tableside Ceasar for two, perfect MR filets and a Grand Marnier souffle ( order early with cocktails) reminded us of our anniversary dinners at the Jockey Club in DC years ago. No more flying from Raleigh to Louisville to see our grandson, we will be driving and staying in Charleston to dine at Laurys!!!

A true gem for Charleston. White table cloth, great ambience for an intimate affair. Extensive wine list with all the necessities to pair to a very well presented, masterfully prepared and tasteful take on French cuisine. We really didn’t expect this caliber and we’re really pleased. All social precautions seemed to be in place. Large family group was sequestered into their own partitioned area. Our server was personable and not just in hover mode. Thank you for adding a memorable evening to our Charleston visit.

Very fancy place. It was a unique experience to have them make the salad dressing in front of you type of thing. Super expensive for my taste, but the portions are huge! The servers and everyone were sweet and professional. This is the type of place the Governor and Senators eat at. But it took 2 hours! Most of that was waiting for the food. A great place to visit if you're into the historic train and ferry station, though you'd not know it from lack of any historical pictures or decorations. If I were looking for a place to take a prom date or a place to impress my lady with how much she means to me I might bring her to a place like this, but I personally couldn't afford regular visits. But while I was in town, it was a welcome change from a place like Applebee's.

You won't find a more upscale restaurant with amazing food to impress your date or pop the question. The food is is epic and cooked to perfection every time. Staff is knowledgeable of the menu options and ingredients if you have any allergy worries. The building is breathtaking. Not only will you enjoy amazing food but you'll spend the evening in awe of the building as well. Highly recommend taking that special someone for special occasions. Or if you just want an enjoyable meal and experience to share with friends and family.

This is the restaurant you want if you want quiet classy and romantic. Wife and I went for her birthday and I had the best steak I can say I have ever had in WV. It was washed down with a masterfully mixed and poured martini. My wife had the seafood pasta Diablo and was over the moon about how good it was. It’s more money than your usual “steak houses” up by the malls but you’re getting a way better product and service and will walk out with a smile every time

Felt very much like Downton Abbey as you walk in with the big chandelier. Food was delicious and the service amazing. My wife and I went there for our 25th wedding anniversary. We definitely made the right choice and will be coming back soon!

Took my son for his 19th birthday. He enjoyed everything. He starved himself all day in anticipation for the great food I told him about. Laura (our server) I hope I am remembering her name correctly was fantastic. She was attentive without being disruptive always giving us everything we needed to enjoy our meals and each other's company. The only thing I was disappointed in was my dessert 😢 I have to mention it because she had to get someone else to make it. I ordered Bananas Foster. It was so bland. It was just like eating vanilla ice cream with a few bananas on top. There has to be more to it than that. Or there wouldn't have been so many great reviews about it on here. I hope this review just gives room for improvement. Next time I'll just skip it though. Steaks were PERFECTION!!!

My experience at Laury's was the most enjoyable I've ever had. My girlfriend and I have eaten here several times and our food has been impeccable every time. There is a variety of options on the menu to please everyone's taste and every dish is prepared to perfection.The atmosphere is also very relaxed and friendly, as is the waitstaff. I will definitely be visiting again soon. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a romantic evening or upscale dining experience.

I've been going to Laury's for almost a decade. While it's always great tonight was the best yet. My server Monica was OUTSTANDING! She made excellent recommendations and service was impeccable. My 9oz Filet was cooked perfect, my tableside caesar salad was divine, my appetizer, Escargot, was absolutely the best I've ever had and of course the atmosphere was /is so warm & welcoming. I've recommended Laury's for years because they just keep getting better with time. It truly is the Gem of Charleston & I've spent 38 years in the restaurant industry so I'm kind of an expert. Excellent food and wine! I had the grilled salmon and a glass of chardonnay, sorry I can't remember the name, but it was at the top of the list. The salmon was the best I had every tasted and so was the wine! Our server was superb! The place was beautiful, I would definitely recommend for a nice evening out!

We stopped in Charleston on our way back to Chicago from Myrtle Beach S.C. We looked up places on line to eat and decided on Laury's. What a great surprise, we have dined in some of the finest Restaurants in Chicago, San Francisco, New York and let me say it was right there with all. Great food ,great service , beautiful ambiance. Drake our waiter was par excellance, with help from Betsy. Made us feel right at home in W.V. If we ever get through Charleston again We would not miss it. A real Gem

Classy restaurant. Beautiful setting. I was dressed nicely for the occasion but was disappointed when I saw people in jeans and a t-shirt. Large wine menu and full bar. Our waitress was wonderful but the seating location was awkward. (Half way in the room half way out in the hall/server area. Lots of seafood options which is hard to find in Charleston, WV.

Came up to WV to visit friends and relatives. Went to Laury's and had a wonderful experience - beautiful restaurant, very elegant and well decorated, superb staff and, last but by no means least, wonderful food. We enjoyed it so much that we came back the next evening (our last on that trip) and had another memorable experience. I have only lived in the US for 18 months, but this is the best restaurant I have found. Will definitely go again next time we are up in WV, and can strongly recommend Laury's.

We were traveling through from N.C. and was able to get right in. The wait staff was fantastic, we were lucky enough to have Drake. We ordered the portabella mushroom, goat cheese salad and the bone in ribeye with creamed spinach. It was all done perfectly. We will definitely be back.

Decent place for fine dining. The decor is a little dated but the overall experience is good. The food and service are both quite good. I prefer the Bridge Road Bistro but Laury's is my second choice for fine dining in Charleston.

A bit fussy and a bit expensive, but you probably already know that before you decide to go there. Everything I ordered was very good and my server was very nice. If I was in Charleston again, I would probably try something else (which is why I'm not giving it 5 stars), but I also wouldn't be disappointed if I was with somebody that wanted to go there.

Lovely atmosphere, exquisite cuisine, and the DESSERTS! You used to be able to have table side preparation for the bananas foster, but I guess that a guest might have been burnt or something along those lines, as the last time I visited, I was unable to have table side preparation, with the explanation of “they can’t do it anymore.” But, the bananas foster is still every bit as wonderful as it was before, and though food is expensive, it is all well worth the price. My one issue is that perhaps they could get some better noise insulation, as about every 10-15 minutes the Amtrak train goes through, and is incredibly loud. All in all, a five-star experience.

I took a friend who was visiting from Springfield, Illinois, and he was extremely impressed with everything about Laury’s. He said he didn’t know of any restaurant in Springfield that’s as nice as his Laury’s experience. We love to show out-of-towners that Charleston has class!

Reservations are suggested, which we had. The staff were excellent, especially Drake who was spot on in his suggestion. We always ask a lot of questions of the staff when we eat out and he was great with his answers. :) The food was delicious. I started with the Shrimp scampi which was in a light garlic butter sauce and not drowned in it like some places do. I went with the suggestion of Salmon and crab and I was not disappointed. The Salmon had a really nice texture and kept it's flavor and the lump crab was rolled around an artichoke heart, which complimented each other. There was a light, and not overpowering sauce, to top it off. My side dish was a creamed spinach. If you like sweet wine, I suggest Ruffino Moscato D'Asti. I finished with the warm chocolate cake, with chocolate/caramel sauce and vanilla bean Ice cream, heavenly.

Excellent food and service. Probably the best food, service, and atmosphere in Charleston. I wouldn't remove a star because it really is a great place but they don't answer the phone. They want you to leave a message and they do get back to you, but I had changed phones and lost my reservation time and was unable to contact the facility to confirm my time the day of my reservation.

Me and my wife Jennifer have shared plenty of memories in this very beautiful restaurant. There’s so much I can say about this place but I’ll hit the highlights. We first enjoyed it here the day that I proposed to her she had the filet mignon while I had the risotto. Highly recommend the Caesar salad made table side as well as the bananas Foster served table side as a dessert!! Drake the waiter is top notch and knows how to treat his customers be sure to ask for him. The owner and the mattre “d” is attentive to all your needs and though we have never had an issue I assure you if brought to their attention it will be resolved in a respectful manner. If you are looking for a romantic place to enjoy a date with your spouse or significant other look no where else than Lawrys restaurants. David and Jennifer Allen 😁

We had an overnight trip to nearby Yeager Airport for a corporate flight. Wanting to experience what Charleston's best had to offer in Southern classic cuisine for dinner, I asked the locals there what they recommend no matter the price. Laury's was at the top of everyone's list. So off our little 3-crew entourage went. First, the ambiance. It reminded me of a Southern plantation classic home on the inside except it was all open separated by different partitions for tables. It is a cozy feeling and it's hard to imagine this was once part of a railroad depot (still in operation on the other side). The food and service were worthy of a 4-star restaurant. We split two appetizers between the three of us: Oyster's Rockefeller and the Parm crusted escargot. Both were fabulous but as one who is familiar with the alleged original Oyster's Rockefeller recipe from New Orleans (Antoine's - talk to Emeril about it), I've never had a version with Hollandaise sauce before. It was an interesting take but I would have preferred a more traditional butter sauce base. For the main dishes I got the Beef Oscar (medium rare) and the other two ordered Steak Au Poivre and Steak Diane both medium rare as well. All three were more than worthy of their lofty $40+ menu cost and cooked perfectly. Rounding out the main course was a Russian River Mac Murray Pinot Noir. Only one had room for and ordered a dessert, the table side Banana's Foster (another New Orleans original). Again if I were blindfolded and just sat down in this place I would have sworn on my life that I was in New Orleans. Bottom line: this is a MUST DO if you are a foodie and enjoy classic Southern/French inspired dishes surrounded by a gorgeous atmosphere. One thing I noticed is that this restaurant is only listed as $$ in pricing which is far from the truth being a white cloth restaurant. It needs to be at least a $$$ rating as our three-person bill plus tax not including tip topped $230. Regarding dress, we showed up in business casual but saw several patrons in nothing more than long sleeve t-shirts which took away from the richness of the overall experience someone (we true Southerners like to dress up for a nice dinner).

Laury's Restaurant is probably the most elegant restaurant in Charleston. It's located in the historic train station in Charleston that offers beautiful views of the Kanawha River and Haddad River Front Park. It's also right next door to the Carriage Trail where former Governor McCorkle rode a horse and buggy to and from the old Governor's mansion and people can still walk up and down it today. Laury's Restaurant has a wonderful wait staff, beautiful decor, excellent food that is made to order, and even a small bar. They also have a convention room for meetings and parties. Laury's Restaurant is open Tuesday thru Saturday from 5 to 10pm and while reservations aren't required they are highly recommended because seating does fill up fast.

Laury’s dining experience was exceptional. My husband and I ate there while in town for a business convention. The food was delicious and the service excellent. It was fine dining at its best.
