Reviews of Black Sheep
Foster
Awesome brewery, delicious food, large space and great service. We stopped in here for breakfast and they did not disappoint! They had a great breakfast menu, and all of our party was satisfied with their choices. Just check out the pictures below to see some of their dishes. Definitely recommend!

Read a ton of reviews and researched around to find a good place to eat. Service was great, cool atmosphere. But the food was just not good. The rice, which is in most of the burritos is very similar to store bought rice. The salsa and some of the sauces in the food is very aromatic. The pickles were extremely over powering with some type of herb. The drinks are okay. Not a huge fan overall. Not a bad place but the food is just very underwhelming. Overall, kinda over priced as well.
Jacob Breitinger
On my own scale I give the Black Sheep a 9.4 out of ten. The food is amazing. The burger was top 5 all time and the fries were top 3. Also the service was great but the food took a good bit to get to our table and the menu prices were on the higher side. But overall I would highly recommend this place. Oh and one more thing is the portion sizes are massive.
Andrew Baucom
Great beer and good food. Love the Loud IPA. Steak and fish tacos very good. Chorizo taco was dripping oil but tasty. $4 beers, must have been happy hour. Will be back next time in Charleston.
Michael Johnson
The food was really good, a bit pricey but well worth it for the flavors you get here. The California burrito was amazing, so was the baja taco. I have nothing high marks for the service, the location and the food.
Aaron Maass
I'd wager this is the best food and brewery in Charleston. The menu is diverse yet phenomenal. Tons of unique items and takes on traditional Mexican cuisine. The beers are solid - not the best I've had but rock solid nonetheless. Great mixed drinks.
The service is what really stands out to me here. My wife has an allergy and we were greeted by the general manager to assure us that every precaution would be taken to ensure no cross-contamination with shellfish. Our waitress Abigail was responsive, thorough, and super friendly. If I lived in the area I would probably come here once a month.
If you are just stopping through Charleston this place is a MUST VISIT. We're all just here floating on this space rock so why not drop by and give it a try.

I'm not much of a drinker, but had a couple of the local beers. They were good. Helped me relax. I ordered a "flock of tacos" (3 tacos): Grilled Mahi (nice flavor, tasteful), Asparagus (very good, wished I had more), and Seared Tuna (My favorite. If you like a lightly seared tuna, this is THE ONE), enjoy! I definitely like.

We visited for Bad Shepard Brewery (located inside). The beer was very good for both a IPA fan and a Belgian fan. Lots of beer options and many were true winners. Its not as common we all find a great beer at the same brewery. The Black Sheep menus was fun with tons of cool taco options. Chorizo and Korean BBQ were my favorite. We also hit up the airport bar for some more Bad Shepard beer on our way out of WV. 😉 good stuff.

I ate here a couple of times with friends while staying in Charleston and we all enjoyed it. Pretty good tacos, particularly the chorizo. The general tso burrito I was skeptical of, but actually tasted pretty good! The nachos weren't bad, but we all preferred straight chips and queso. The bulgogi taco is a great idea but isn't really bulgogi, instead it's steak with kimchi and other ingredients. It was still good, but worth mentioning for those who are looking for true bulgogi. I'm sure I'll find myself here again the next time I'm in Charleston.

Wonderful lunch experience this past Saturday at Black Sheep Burritos. We were 3 vegetarians visiting from out of town. We each ordered a different but equally delicious burrito. We loved that tofu was an option in 6 vegetarian burrito options. Service was also very good and our food arrived quickly.
Zach Wriston
Great food and beer! Awesome vegetarian and vegan options, instead of standard fried cheese. Loved the marinated burrito and the portobello and avocado tacos! The stoopwaffle beer is worth the trip on it's own
Kailyn Atwell
Really great atmosphere, tables are a tad crowded together, but the food and drinks are worth it! Margs are unique and delicious. The fusion burritos are insanely good as well!
Nils Hünerfürst
Very good and tasty vegan burrito with tofu. Overall there are plenty vegetarian options. Location and vibe are cool.

Great spot worth going out of your way for in West Virginia. Cool decor, incredibly friendly server, and a menu of truly unique meals, many of which can be veganized.
I got their BroccWings, minus the honey-based hot sauce, and ate them with a side of Frank’s Red Hot. They were AWESOME. Also has their General Tso’s burrito, which did in fact taste like a Chinese takeout meal inside of a wrap. It was so good.
Only issue is the menu not being clearly labeled as far as vegan and gluten-free options. There’s a designated vegan burrito, and they offer tofu and vegan chorizo, but outside of those things we really had to ask a lot of questions to navigate what we could eat. That sucks for us and the server we have to pester.
Marcella Henry
Nice place, nice variety of craft beers. Very popular spot for food and brews. Chelsea our server was very sweet and helpful!
If you like pucker power try the sour holler peach berry!!
Quraan Williams
Great Spot . Had a flight so I could sample the different beers that they offer . They were all very good . The food was fresh and delicious . Our server was very knowledgeable , fast , and friendly . When we come back into town we will stop by again for sure !
Mike
I had high hope for this place. A “hip” restaurant in a miserable town, within a horrible state. The atmosphere was cool, but the food was meh. It’s a white persons take on Mexican food, and it didn’t hit the mark. I think the best moment was when I asked our server for hot sauce and he said the only thing they had was some homemade sauce that was essentially ground up Habanero peppers. He didn’t seems psyched about it. Then about halfway through my California burrito I realized that every table had a bottle of Cholula on it except ours. That was a big swing and a miss from our server. I probably won’t be in Charleston again, but I can assure you I probably would just go to Taco Bell.
*Oh yeah one more dumb thing. They serve their mules in glasses, not copper cups. What’s up with that?
Trav Corron
i want to get my negatives out of the way first: they were out of regular wings when i went (they did have tajin dry rub wings, which i ordered -- see photo). they also don't allow special orders or changes to menu items, which was disappointing.
with that out of the way... wow, was this place amazing. excellent food; everyone in my group was incredibly happy with their orders. great beer selection too. service was wonderful, very attentive and helpful. definitely recommend stopping by here and perusing the menu. there's a large selection, so there's something for every palate.
Jenn Zellers
The day we went they were out of a few things due to shortages but the staff were wonderful and kind. We ordered brunch and the food was amazing as were the drinks.
Greg Eakins
I love the eclectic menu here - it's rare to see such odd 'ethnic' combinations offered. For example, they have a Thai peanut burrito. Who does that? So I was excited going in.
I had the Nashville Hot Chicken Burrito. It was good, but it definitely fell short of expectations. The chicken was really just friend chicken with none of the punch of real Nashville hot chicken.
This is one of those places that an adventurous tongue could stop at a dozen times and always try something new.
Abby Bee
The space was clean and had a dog friendly patio. My bartender was friendly, knowledgeable, and the brewer also answered some of my questions and talked to me more about the company! Tacos came as a pick-and-choose with a great variety of options (and vegetarian options). The milk stout was smooth, the sour was rich, and the IPA was solid enough to order a second!
Victoria A
Not sure how the prices compare to other places in Charleston, but I experienced great food (especially catfish taco! And delicious sauces), great service, and a hip atmosphere here. Floor was a bit sticky by the bar, but that makes total sense for a brewery, and everything else was very clean.
Misty McCune
The wings and beers were great! The bartender gave us samples of the two we were interested in to make sure we liked them, and he made sure there was no lime in them because I'm allergic. He also made sure the wing sauce we wanted didn't have lime- Sriracha honey-butter- so tasty! The overall cleanliness and kindness of the servers was on point. Honestly, my only complaint is the jazz music, but I can deal with that to have great beer, wings, and service any day. You will not be disappointed!
Greetings Tour
Thank you so much to the owner/manager for hooking up a meal while we painted the Greetings from Charleston mural down the block. We really appreciate the kindness and the food was also amazing! Thank you!!!
Erin S.
This review is for brunch only. Two of us stopped by for brunch on Sunday, 11/20/22, at 12:45 pm, and were seated right away. The host was wonderful and so friendly! There were plenty of people, but we were seated right away.
One thing that stood out was that they have good ice (pellet ice)!!
Here’s what we got:
- The O.G. Chicken & Waffles ($13.95): Really good! The waffle was delish.
- Breakfast Flock of Tacos ($15.95): I wish it had come with a side. The tacos were good, but not hot.
The food was fine, but nothing special. A solid option. Unfortunately, we didn’t try their beer, but they had a good selection!
Emily Darnell
The tacos were great! Lots of flavor and variety. The beers in our flight were all solid and good. I liked the utter darkness milk stout. Very happy we stopped here.
Kylie Tokar
We came at an off time since we were traveling, and the service was top notch, the food very was affordable and tasty, and the beer (Bad Shepherd) was super good, especially for us IPA lovers. They have a three taco deal that was superb (try the bulgogi)!
Jack King
Fantastic food! The specialty burritos are awesome! The service was super courteous and present with good spacing between tables and everyone appropriately masked. My only complaint was the food was so filling I didn't have enough room for more of their delicious beer!
Mack Miles
A little understaffed but it was the day after Christmas. The food was great and so were the drinks. I reccomend the Caribbean Mule it was amazing. Expect to pay a bit for apps, meal, and drinks but well worth it
Rebecca Terenyi
Dude. Literally AMAZING! My whole family are foodies and we absolutely give this a million stars. The burritos are out of this world. The chicken wings are off the hook. The chicken tacos are, for some reason, just unreal and fantastic. The bulgogi taco is super yummy.
The sides were ok. The fries were on point.
Fun, off beat atmosphere. Very clean. Great staff. I would make the 5.5 hour drive just to eat here again.
Scott Zufall
Beer and burritos!!!
It's not the only thing on the menu, but it's neat to see the Mexican theme in a brewery! Beer was good, but their 4+ rated DIPA was out so I had to settle for lesser options. Staff (at the bar) was very attentive. Overall a good place for dinner and a beer!
Back through Charleston on 11/19/21 and stopped in for another visit. Upped rating to a 5. Rare Frequencies was on tap and it was definitely a 4 star! Started with the salsa trio. A+ guac!!! Wife had the tacos and claimed they were "the best tacos I've ever had". High praise! I tried the General Tso, which was definitely an interesting take on a burrito! Great service at the bar again, especially given how late we arrived. Will definitely be back!
Back through Charleston again on 4/28/22. Still a solid 5+. No Rare Frequencies this time, but the Electric Petting Zoo was a solid Hazy IPA (Untappd 4+)! Great service at the bar once again, despite it being uber busy! Tried the tacos this time and they were the best street tacos I've had this far "north"! If you're in Charleston and you like the brewery scene, this place should be top of your list!
Robyn Monkarsh
Y'all. This place is delicious and they have a huge variety of flavors. The tacos were excellent and the beer was great. Specifically the stroopwaffle beer. 10/10 would go again
Jake M.
Awesome restaurant and craft brewery in the heart of downtown Charleston, WV! Laid back atmosphere with a friendly, knowledgeable staff. We were greeted immediately upon walking in the entrance and had no wait being taken to a table. The server was there before we had gotten fully sat which was fantastic to be able to get our drink order in quickly. A terrific menu that did not disappoint when the food arrived. The "Hot Mess" Burrito was huge, tasty, and loaded with savory goodness! The steak quesadilla was simply out of this world, too!! You would think that it's just another quesadilla but oh no...this quesadilla is on different level than all the rest. I would venture to say it's the best quesadilla I've ever had. Not even exaggerating. Give it a taste and let me know. SLÁINTE🍀🍻🍀

Food was great, but our server Coco was what made the experience excellent. His recommendations were on-point 👍, service excellent, and interaction with our group hilarious, (we're a fun group and he recognized and worked it well 🙂) Highly recommend.
Naomi Simpson
Food was OK, burritos sound more interesting than they really are. I felt that the general Tso burrito was lacking the general tso part. The chicken was very pre-made and not freshly battered or flavorful. Their sour peach beer was great and the waitress handled our large group with ease. These last two points are why I gave them a 4 star.

My husband and I tried out this delicious sounding place for a date night (on a Thursday night an hour before closing) and it was chill but classy. The food was DIVINE and I absolutely loved that so many dishes come with an option to substitute tofu or other vegan options (they even have vegan chorizo, are you kidding me!?)! It's hard to find a place my meat-eating husband and I both love, but this gem was it! My husband got the Piri Piri chicken and was surprised (in the most delighted way) to find half a chicken on his plate! I got the Thai Peanut burrito with tofu (which was perfectly crisp and not bland or mushy like other place's tofu) and we both shared the Korean noodles side and the potato salad side. NOTHING disappointed, and EVERYTHING exceeded our expectations (and the staff was great too)! My husband and I are not drinkers, but even sitting on the pub side wasn't overwhelming (like some pubs can be). Will be coming back again! Oh, and I forgot to mention the prices were fantastic for the high quality of food!
Mark Nunley
Had a great evening relaxing with friends. Good Beer selection and food selection. Had few wait staff but they got the job done with a large party of 12 or more of us.
Jeremy Seacrist
Coco was the best server I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Management, keep him happy. He is doing an absolute fabulous job.
Florian Parungao
Stopped in Charleston WV for lunch on our way to Roanoke College. Interesting variety of Tacos and burritos...truly innovative. Throwing some Asian fusion touches. Beet salad was excellent. Good IPA, couple of stout choices. Beer prices are excellent. Stout's a little bit pricey. Will definitely come back and try other food in the menu.
Christina W
Black sheep is the vegan burrito spot! I wish they’d add some more vegan options like a vegan sour cream or cheese, but the existing burrito is great. It’s unique with edamame purée inside a wrap with fluffy, golden tofu. They have a wonderful atmosphere and accommodating staff.
Art Arsenault
Very nice brewpub with a complete vegetarian menu. A nice selection of 11 beers on tap. Cheers. Also the staff is friendly and practicing safe behavior. They have canned beer to go and growlers to go as well as select bottles of mostly sours or farmhouse ales to go. Prices are good and the foods is top notch.

Stopped for lunch, this restaurant has adequate seating for a party of 200! A fully stocked bar, bartender included! Wait staff is prompt and friendly. Dining area's appear clean and stocked with appropriate condiments. I ordered the barbacoa beef quesadillas and coke. The portion was plentiful, the barbacoa was extremely mild but flavorful. The choice of cheese & flour tortilla complements the beef nicely. On the side was a small portion of black beans mixed with corn an something else, it tastes like their take on pico "maybe". It was fresh and flavorful, excellent addition to the quesadilla. I requested a side of their salsa "no up charge". The salsa is prepared fresh, mild and packed with the flavor of authentic Mexican salsa! I was mildly impressed ☺. Coke was over iced, definitely ask for light ice. I scored them at 4 stars, solely on the price! My single quesadilla and coke was $13.50 before tip! I rate their price as 20% overvalued. However, I can see why they would need that additional 20%, their location and dining room size is what they are charging for in this instance. This would be a great restaurant to hold banquets, group lunches, celebrations etc. Honestly, Black sheep should market this highlight to bring in additional guests!!! Huge untapped growth potential!!! My opinion is the additional 20% cost is justifiable but unnecessary with further business development. To reiterate, I had a excellent dinning experience and will return in the near future! They do offer local delivery in the downtown area, I forgot to ask about any order minimums!
Steven Smeltz-Zapata
Tacos tacos tacos!
Unique yummy take in tacos.
Yes, you can go get regular tacos, but why?!
This joint provides you with so many flavor combinations! Go have fun!
I will say, the best off the 3 tacos I tried was the Thai shrimp. These tacos are a bit heavy on the sauce. So, it’s good that the sauces are actually really good.
I’d suggest ordering a side with 3 tacos.
Oh, and this spot has a great beer selection. I had a stout which was wonderful!
The staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
The wait was nonexistent.
The parking is typical for a downtown area.
The atmosphere is fun, social, and could get loud.
Tiffany Providenti
The food was awesome! We had a large party(8), but we're seated quickly, and we're well taken care of.
Flo Jo
5 stars for novelty. Love the decor! Wide range of novelty flavors, most available as burritos or tacos. Wide variety of craft beers, too. I prefer IPA, so definitely had something to try, but focused on the food.
I would return to try the other flavors, but not especially exited about what I received. I ordered a taco “flock”, 3 different tacos: avocado (tempura style), brisket (Smokey meat, the sauce had a surprisingly nice kick that didn’t sit on your tongue though), and fish (I’m assuming it was the standard cod because the type wasn’t disclosed). The aioli, chipotle mayo, and fresh cilantro stood out to me... although the sauce overpowered the avocado.
Other fishes offered included smoked salmon and trout.
The queso was made of white cheese, pretty bland. Maybe a Monterey. Not too stringy, so possibly contains little or no mozzarella
Shirin Modaresi
I wanted to give them 5 stars bc they actually have tofu and vegan options on their menu, which was a wonderful treat here in WV! However, my Marinated Tofu Burrito was mostly rice and had a lot of weird ingredients put together. I love Korean food but the Asian ingredients really didn't work well in this burrito. Best thing I ate was the delicious side of salsa.
David Williams
Good food. Service was fast and friendly. Metered parking in the deck directly adjacent is free after 5, so park and ride the elevator to the front door.
Francis Kredensor
Been here twice and have only tried the burritos so far, and also their take on 'loaded' fries, but it's all been very good! They also have a fairly healthy selection of beers on tap, a mix of regulars and rotating seasonal or small batch beers, so you'll probably see a few you'd want to try.
Steve Reed
If you're passing through or in town for a night, you've gotta swing by here! The food was stellar - chicken burrito & chipotle sweet potato salad. The beer was solid & named properly (Single Serving Steve, ha). And it was all super well priced & the staff was very nice. A word from the wise (aka my girlfriend), the brisket is spicier than you'd think!
Mike's America
Visiting Charleston. Was recommended by a Door Dash driver. Did takeout orange pork burrito. It was cold, flavor overwhelming and $15 with tip was too much. I'll try somewhere else next time.
Elizabeth Howard
This was a new dining experience and one I certainly will repeat. The menu is pretty extensive and I look forward to sampling more. For this visit, I tried a Lavender Martini. Served in a very cute double glass, I was delighted with the whole concoction and intrigued by the hint of lavender which mellowed the cocktail superbly. I had to stop at one. Definably potent! My husband decided on a local brew from the dozen or so offered. Of note, the only brews available are the local house beers; you won't find a national brand. To make the choice easier, they offer small samples of any and all so one will be sure and find a new favorite. We ordered the large sample platter of chips and dips. Guacamole, salsa and queso were all house made, simply excellent and devoured accordingly. We chose a trio of tacos to share, with port mushroom and Thai shrimp as the tie favorite over the pork bbq, which lost due to messiness only; still a fabulous flavor. There are no desserts, but a short walk around the corner took us to Ellen's Ice Cream. Yum! (Gratis mention 😏)
Stacie Tabor
Absolutely delicious. I will absolutely be returning. They make their craft brews in house and they are stellar. I got the chorizo burger and I have no regrets. Can't wait to taste their tacos. The wait staff was also friendly and helpful, a definite perk.
Brandon Padilla
Great atmosphere, been to hipster in New Orleans, this is not hipster place. Driver from our hotel recommended another place but menu here sounded great so we went. Drink menu is nice and margaritas were great and creative. Waiter, forget our threesome appetizer, finally brings it out, then 1 min later brings out food. Food wise, we ordered 6 different tacos, everything in tacos was amazing, actual taco was not. Asked manager were the tacos supposed to be cold, they stated tortillas are not heated up. Now I'm from Texas and maybe I don't know tacos but I do and cold tortillas make cold tacos and they break and fall apart...so I ate my tacos with a fork. Again ingredients inside tacos were amazing. Would love to give this place another chance but I think it's a lost hope
Skye Spalding
The food here is amazing, and I always have a great time! The only reason for the four stars is we sat at the bar for over five minutes before a bartender came. He did come over to us immediately, though, and made great drinks!
Varun Sharma
Wings are really good, big, crispy, and with tasty sauces. I had the sirracha-honey and it was a nice mix of sweet and savory. I also got the chicken burrito with corn I wished the corn had some lime juice on it but other than that it was tasty, they put like feta cheese or something on it so that gives it a nice sharp flavor. The burrito unfortunately was really dry though so you may want to ask for extra sauce. Other than that its a comfy cozy place with nice brews and a great atmosphere.
Dylan Milesend
The food, service, beer, and overall experience are always amazing at Black Sheep, it is definitely one of my go to's every time I'm in Charleston!
Jeff Pelurie
Have become a fan of the asparagus taco's........oh and the beer.
Have been here by myself, with my wife and with a group of noisy friends and each time service food and beer were on the mark.
Ryan Ireland
Great stopping point in West Virginia specifically because of this place. Hip, cool atmosphere and groovy menu selections. Between all the people in my party, I think we tried every taco that was available. There were a few items on the menu they did not have ingredients for, and that was a bummer. The cocktails we had were equally delicious. They also have a dog friendly patio.
Protonboy8
Excellent food and excellent service. I'm lactose intolerant and even after I had them make my chicken wrap with no cheese and special sauce it was still delicious.
Cooper
Great food and solid beer. Service could've been better but didn't really detract from my experience
Sarah Fox
I attended a political watch party. The food served, available at party was delicious. The service was good. Thanks to the candidates and Black Sheep for the event.
Glen Lamb
Really cool looking place, saw they had a good selection of beer and knew I would want to stop by and grab some food. Unfortunately they were only serving breakfast, but the food we got was very good and got a flight of beers for a good price. Definitely would like to stop by again if I’m ever in the area again!
Richard Miller
It’s a nice enough place, nothing spectacular, but pleasant enough to be sure. The staff was friendly. The wait time seemed quite long considering it was before 9:00 PM and there are only a handful of customers. But it wasn’t extremely bad, just bad enough to be annoying.
The quality of the food was decent. I had the roast beef burrito and it was delicious. You won’t find a burrito by that name on the menu; they call it the brisket burrito. They claimed it had Texas style smoked brisket. Honey, I lived in Texas for years. I know Texas style brisket. This was delicious roast beef, not Texas style brisket.
If I worked in the area, I would go again. But I wouldn’t give raving recommendations to friends.
Joe Marone
If you are in Charleston and you don't come here. You lose!!!! The staff is perfect, the tacos (catfish, Bulgogi, Brisket) out of this world, and the beer is just amazing!!!! Seriously
Lisa Bingham
This was a fun place though it could be because we stopped during Pride Festival. Though that came with some issues as well... the wait was long even though there were many tables open. We assumed it was to manage the servers and kitchen backup/flow. We finally got seated and placed our order (we are from OH so maybe have a different taste but the chips were too dry and unsalted for the salsa). Side note: their beers are amazing!! The food took forever to arrive (our server kept saying "we are waiting on the tacos"... strange, because tacos are normally fast). We always try local when traveling but I could tell that my husband was ready to call foul and leave me behind. Almost an hour later, our food arrived and it was amazing. It was the best nachos that I have had in my 47 years. The crema sauce set it off... Of course, we had to drive over 10 hours with 8 year old twins from OH to SC and losing 2 hours to a local place vs 30 minutes to Bob Evans was painful. I highly recommend, just not during a festival
Fion Chen
The burrito was really good.but the choice of Korean noodles as the side was not a great idea. The 3-set of taco -fish, beef, chicken was excellent! Good choice to come by to have a meal here.
Melissa Dillon
Incredible Sweet Potato Salad!!!! The quest was also delicious. The Portobello Taco was not super flavorful, most tasted of black beans which is good in it's own way.
Phil Ramil
Got a flight of beer and another flight glass. I'm not sure what the bartender's name was (though the receipt said "Summer"), but she helped me select the beers for my flight. The ones she helped me select were amazing, but the one I asked for after wasn't as much my taste lol. 5 stars, would definitely go again next time I'm in Charleston, and hopefully she's there again!
Josh Chandler
You have to try the burgers! I've eaten here for years and just tried this today. It was fantastic! This is the "Simple" with bacon 🥓 added. Be sure you're hungry 🙂 …
Logan Hobbs
Food was killer, got some nachos and quesadillas. Beer was good as well, I had the Belgian Amber and would've had more if we weren't just passing through. Service was okay, or it would've been a 5/5.
Samantha Carson
Incredible! We loved stopping here on our way to NC. The beer was fantastic and the burritos are to die for. We had a great time here. Service was awesome as well.
Jose Rios
Nice location. Outdoor dining experience in mid-April was very comfortable after biking along the waterfront of Charleston. Food was good. Wait staff was exceptionally laize-fare on outside guest with the party next to us suffering an untolerable wait just to receive the menu.
Lisa Peterson
This is an interesting place. Nice bar, cool name and decor but no atmosphere. Also very warm on a summer's day when we expected comfortable inside temps. Food and service was ok.
Joseph Daniel
The IPAs were delicious! The three of us had there salad options and were very pleased.
We sat outside but the shade was a little limited.
Jennifer Sinyard
Great food and service! Nice beer selection.
nina longo
Service was great California burrito was banging. Corn potato salad could of been good but potato was too hard
Amber Stancil
Delicious! What an incredible menu despite it's limitation due to covid19. I highly recommend. The staff was very friendly as well.
Craig Robards
Waitress was fantastic and great selection of craft beer and food choices. Loved it
christopher stanton
The place looks super cool and I was rooting for it. The bartender was super nice and helpful. The beers were pretty average and the range was limited. The tacos are approaching mediocre. Cold flour tortillas with luke warm fillings. This place has potential. It's super pricey for what you get. I wish it was better.
Lyd Haywood
Great craft beer (Bad Shepherd) and we had some of the many kinds of upscale tacos. Salad also really good. Very popular so waited 25 minutes at dinner time but well worth it
Trista Richardson
Cassie was out waitress for brunch today and she was awesome. We chose a table outside and we felt no less service than being inside. The mimosas are perfect! Refreshing yet intoxicating and delicious! I had the waffle bowl and the breakfast churros and it was the perfect combo for cheat meal Sunday! Highly recommend.
Kelli Locey
Unique atmosphere and very clean. Beer selection was good and we found a few that we enjoyed. The food left a lot to be desired. I felt as if it was very basic, a step above fast food. I would compare to chipotle…. Not a place I would recommend for a nice dinner, but good for a few drinks and appetizer.

I tried this place for the first time last week. I got the catfish sandwich, and it was actually really good. The only thing was the French fries it came with were old and super hard in some spots. I couldn't eat them, so it was a waste. I also tried the soup, which was the autumn squash. It was extremely thick, and it reminded me of baby food instead of soup. The flavor was delicious, but the thickness was very off-putting. I had to throw it away. My husband got the taco trio, which consisted of two Mahi tacos and one ahi tuna taco. He said he really liked them. I just can't justify spending so much on this quality of food. The prices are really high. Maybe I'll give them another try sometime and see if they can make up for it.
Ken Morris
Good food, good service, take-home growlers of local brews are cheap.
Grace H
Some of the best hummus and tzatziki I've ever had. I would sell my soul to eat this every day.
Also had a seasonal pumpkin spice medium brew beer with a touch of cinnamon. 10/10
Jim Coffman
Nice pub to visit while in town the food/service was good. Little on the pricey side so just be prepared.
Buck Badmaev
The only person working was the bartender and he worked the entire room. Thank you for feeding us! Military Order of the Purple Heart
Ken Legg
This place has some really good brews!! Cheap flights on amazing beer.
Sue Mai Boudreau
We stopped here for lunch as we passed through town. The patio is dog friendly and they brought our pups bowls of water.
The food is a fusion of flavors and we highly recommend getting a burrito or a street taco flight. The beers are all local and were very tasty. Our server was GREAT, considering that he had a lot of tables to juggle. We always try to eat local when we travel and this place is worth the stop.
Cook
The service was friendly and fast. The food was really good and prepared perfectly. Based on the name I never would have eaten here (not big on burritos and I don't drink alcohol). I'm really glad we went tho because it's so much more than that. I will be returning and I suggest you try it as well. Sunday brunch is amazing!
Shea James
My tacos (avocado, broccolini, and Thai shrimp) were excellent. My only complaint was that we waited forever to be greeted and seated; but, our server was excellent and the food was good. I know everyone is short staffed so my friends and I were patient and enjoyed ourselves.
mary cato
It was really clean, the bartender was nice, knowledgeable about the menu, and gave fast service. The food came out quickly and it was delicious. My only complaint would be the rice was a bit dry had slightly too much turmeric flavoring. I still ate every bite. The sweet tea was perfect. I would definitely eat here again.
Dipesh Nepal
Wonderful food great ambiance and a warm hospitality, put simply loved it!!
Brenda Alford
This was our first visit and we will be back. I had the steak burrito. It was delicious. My husband had the Nashville hot chicken burrito. We also had nachos and guacamole. All were tasty. The service was awesome. Our server had a great personality and very quick with refills.
Nippoleon Bonerparts
Great tacos, wife loved the burrito. Huge margaritas, never a bad thing! Nice homebrew beers, my gose was amazing. The staff was so damn nice, I don't know how you find people like that. Congrats on getting a sweet group together. Highly recommend. Their sides are also awesome. Too bad it's 5 hours from where I live
Adam Liston
Very good burrito. Queso is extra, but needed! Get the hot sauce on the side, it is pretty spicy.
Rafael Levy
A really good mexican food. Try the fish burrito, it was super good. The waiter was really nice, the whole place is great.
David Lehane
Great service, great beer selection and good food choices in a nice relaxing atmosphere. - Charleston
The wait staff are very well informed, they offered great suggestions for us Vegans on what to eat and what not to eat, the food selection was quite diverse so everyone will find something to enjoy. The restaurant Black Sheep Burrito is part of the Micro Brewery Bad Sheppard and they have a good eclectic range of beers to drink. There is a nice relaxing Pub atmosphere, with a good range of Beers on tap from their own Micro Brewery, they have a fully licensed bar so there is also a good range of other non beer options as well. We found the place a little noisy due to building design, but other than that we recommend you drop by and give them a go, you wont be disappointed.
Danny DeLoach
Wow! Unique, delicious dishes! My family had House Tacos (Fried Catfish, Steak and Grilled Mahi), Steak Burrito, Nashville Hot Chicken Burrito. It was all amazing!
Karen Sutton
Was a very good experience. Loved my ribeye sandwich and it was way too big. Great blackberry thyme margarita and they didn't skimp on the alcohol like most places do. Would definitely visit again and highly recommend.
Brian Slaughter
Great restaurant held back a bit by a bad location. It's not their fault, of course, but parking in the area is very difficult and hard to come by. If you're on foot I'd wholeheartedly recommend the place but if you're driving, maybe keep your options open just in case you can't find a spot.
H M
Staff very helpful for a first time visitor. I ordered the appetizer trio with chips (salsa, guacamole and cheese dip) all 3 distinctive in flavors. I also ordered two burritos, one was the breakfast burrito served all day and the other was a shrimp burrito with curry and mango. Both burritos come with a choice of sides. It is located directly downtown but a parking deck is close by.
Tim Riggs
Came for beer, not food. Pretty good IPA.
cody wallace
The service was excellent. There is outdoor seating and the food was loud and had character. Delicious. One thing I will say is that my sweet tea was brewed strong. One of my pet peeves is many restaurants brew their tea too weak. Very good food, very good servers, very good restaurant.
MsTexasTea
Very good food with a tasty spin on their menu. Staff were very nice, including the manager. Really enjoyed my visit!
A. Nicole Spears
Food was presented well. Queso was good. Most tacos had a variety of slaws and either shellfish or tropical fruit so my choices were limited but I enjoyed the barbacoa and fish well enough. Focus is on delivery and visual appeal.
Michael Howe
We found this place when a family member moved to Charleston and we absolutely love it - great craft beers and good food and lots of it. Will definitely come here every time we visit Charleston.
Matt Wojcikewych
Great tacos and cool brewery vibe.
Josh Johnston
Delicious food! Great service and a good place to get some locally grown beer! Try the BLT and Korean Noodle Salad with a Bloody Mary!
Tod Bowen
Fun place. The food was good, and certainly interesting. Their beer was excellent.
Joel Willis
Brunch selection is big but not overwhelming. Very prompt service. There is a single stall family restroom inside. Great prices. Diabetics might run a bit short on brunch options as most dishes have a lot of sugar.
Charles Knapp
Service was a little slow, they were out of a lot of items on the menu. So cannot give a good review based on the 1 time we tried, but being there are many establishments in that area of downtown, we probably will not be back any time soon.
Susan Peters
We probably chose the wrong menu items. I was disappointed by the beet salad. Didn't think the beets would be so small and didn't love the dressing. The honey Sriracha wings were decent, but not great. Service was excellent. Not sure I would run back.
S A
Ordered the loaded nachos and the Pari Pari chicken.
Nachos were cold- I had to ask server for it to be microwaved. Once they were warm, the sauce was yummy.
The chicken had a soggy texture and flavor was bland. The portion of rice and beans was small.
For the price and the number of high reviews, I expected much better.
Katie Koile
I love the atmosphere and the beers! The menu is amazing and it has so much potential, but I feel that they slightly skimp on food quality. The guacamole definitely wasn't homemade, and that makes a huuuuge difference. Again, like I said, I definitely recommend this place for the atmosphere, beer, and wide selection of tacos and burritos on the menu. I just suggest that they put a little more time and love in the dishes to make them taste as good as they sound. I still give 5 stars and I'll be back!
James McCartney
Best catfish taco I have ever had! I came for the beer and was pleasantly surprised all around!
Zach Bernheisel
This was awesome. Had an excellent steak burrito... but fair warning about the sweet potato salad, it is incredibly spicy. Have to give a shout out to Tyler, possibly the best bartender I have ever met. Just a really cool, friendly guy with a great knowledge of craft beer... speaking of that, Black Sheep Burritos is home to Bad Shepherd Brewing. Tried a couple of their beers, both of which were fantastic. If I'm ever in the area again, I am definitely coming back here.
Andrew Sheets
A gem. Always great service, a terrific menu with a depth of flavor well beyond their amazing burritos. Bad Shepherd Brewing, which shares the space is consistently one of the top brewers in the state with thoughtful beers beyond the IPA.
Molli Updegraff
The pup 10/10 would recommend a friend. Tasty food. Good beer. Awesome service. Mole sauce was perfect.
Alex Cross
Wonderful place to stop for some delicious food and an awesome selection of brewed in house beers. Definitely will return when I visit Charleston again.
bob davis
Ordered out for some moderately priced and tasty tacos. While waiting for our food, we sat at a friendly bar with a nice chatty pub-like atmosphere. Next time in town, I will eat in and enjoy some craft beer made on location.
John Dubiel
A charming and unique restaurant in the heart of historic Charleston. My family and I had just come off the road to stay overnight here on our way home from vacation. And what a pleasant surprise greeted us. The food was out of this world, fresh and tasty and UNIQUE! I've never had anything like it in my life.
Food made fresh and in a fun way, a great selection of house brews to boot. I can't put into words just how good it was. The only flaw, the only complaint, I could think of was the temperature of food on delivery, could have been hotter.
Clayton, our server, what an excellent asset to the restaurant. So few people really have a knack for service, he's got the touch. Made sure we were taken care of but was in no way intrusive.
Seriously this place is so good I'd consider making the trip JUST to come back here. And that's a 7 hour drive for me! Quiet the gem.
Nathan Walton
Fantastic food and options from their microbrewery.
Very friendly staff and good atmosphere.
Howard Cheetham
Loved having dinner here, beer was great the tacos tasty and the tuna in the tuna salad was seared perfectly
Sean Burns
This place has an exciting menu and a lot of great burrito options for vegetarians and meat eaters. The atmosphere was laid back, and the service was friendly.
The brisket burrito was pretty good but not perfect and I couldn't pin down what exactly its flaw was. The nachos were also good but could have been layered better since there were quite a few chips in the middle and bottom layers that were plain.
Regardless, I'd give it a go again. It was a nice place to stop during our travels.
Bridgetta Tomarchio
Always stop by here on our way driving thru town, about 3x a year. I'm GF and they did help me a ton on choosing things to order. The only reason it's not a 5 is because they don't cater specifically to GF. (no separate fryer, etc). They absolutely did their best and their staff & Manager is great!
If you're GF, ask them to microwave the corn tortillas for you as the grill & frier are cross contaminated, and they will! Such great tacos!
Jason Jones
I wish there was a 6 Star option! OMG this place was AMAZING! The beers were not JUST good but they also had some very creative recipes! A Sour IPA with pineapple, a coconut Porter and a wild yeast recipe as well. THEN there was the food!!!! We had a sampling of their tacos and each was EXCEPTIONAL!! My fav was the seared Tuna and a close second was the Thai shrimp! AMAZING!!
Thomas Larson
My fiance and I love breweries and burritos. The beer was great and the food was another level. We live states away but definitely plan to go back.
Brian Flynn
Such a great place. I've had their brunch for the past 3 weeks, and its always on point. I brought some friends from India, and they loved that they had a lot of food they are familiar with, and vegetarian options. Also, you can't beat $2 mimosas and bloody Mary's.
Justin Christman
Very conflicted between a 3 and a 4 for this place. The atmosphere is good. I had a steak burrito which was also good, although the steak in it was slightly cold. My partner got a chicken quesadilla which was good but not exceptional. All in all the food was between a 3 and a 4. It was slightly overpriced for what it was (especially the quesadilla). What really dropped it from a 4 to a 3 was the service. It was a good 20 minutes from when we were seated before the waiter even took our drink orders. It also took forever to get the check after we finished. This place overall wasn't bad but I probably wouldn't recommend it.
Hope Owens
They have so many fun burrito combinations. However, I got the Thai Peanut specialty burrito and it tasted nothing like Thai food. The peanut sauce was way too sweet. The rice was bland. I will try the restaurant again, but not that burrito. The Korean noodles were tasty!
Doug Laxton
Always the freshest food. From taste to smell to ambience, this restaurant is a must stop for locals and traveler's alike. I've eaten here several times, never had bad service, or a bad experience, or bad food. The craft beer they sell is also top notch, literally nothing bad about this place.
Rashelle Stiltner
Ricky our waiter was very good, excellent customer service skills. He was very helpful as that was our first time dining at the Black Sheep. The steak burrito and the sweet corn potato salad was delicious. My boyfriend got the Argentinian burger and fries and that was very good as well. The 420 mule is very good and the baad Shephard margarita was amazing. We had a nice time and a great experience. Thank you all for your hard work!
David Chaffins
The best tacos I've ever had by far. It has a really different take on traditional Latin American food. The pork taco and the curry burrito are my favorites. Brunch menus is also amazing. Excellent beer selection and fantastic margaritas. Never had to wait on a table for more than 5 minutes
Stephi Dalen
I can't rave enough about this place. The food was AMAZING. They also were very welcoming to us eating outside with our dog. We also weren't the only ones there with a dog.
On top of that, the employees went above and beyond. There was a sudden TORRENTIAL downpour of rain and they came out and helped move all our food, chairs etc out of the rain and under the awning quickly.
If we ever stop by this city on a drive (we are not local) we will definitely be going here again.
If you are considering where to eat, GO HERE!
Karen Lasure
Visited for restaurant week. My husband and I ordered one of each menu options. While everything was good for the most part...there were opportunities to make each item better. I'm still planning to bring a work event to you!
Diedra Jameson
My husband and I just ate here and it was such a nice dinner! We just wanted beers but ended up eating burritos also because they looked so good! I had a chicken burrito and the best ear of sweet corn I've ever ordered anywhere! We got a $6 flight and all the beers were good. Our waitress was really friendly, even though she was super busy and the place was about to close. I would reccomend this stop to everyone! Fresh made food and craft beer, yummy!!
Kristin Beyerl
The owner personally went up to every table to and checked to make sure everything was great. The drinks were amazing. The waiter was busy but still personable. I had a great meal in a great atmosphere. This was my first time to Charleston, WV and it was great
Fleming Talton
Loved it. I got the Nashville Hot Chicken burrito with the house habanero salso on the side. Really solid ingredients and everything tasted fresh. Their beer selection is great (especially for an IPA guy like me). The fries were very fresh and crispy.
Friendly service. Awesome
Gerry Ram
I ordered the 3 taco plate. The Baja was excellent and the steak and portobello were good.
Erika Comdohr
Love black sheep! Their food & beers are great. My favorite is the tuna burrito and all the tacos are amazing. Good brunch as well! Can't beat the $2 mimosas and bloodies!
Ron Edwards
A clean, tasteful, and modern restaurant which is essentially a brewpub. They are colocated and have cooperative operations with the Charleston brewing company. Atmosphere is pleasant with thoughtful sound absorption, however, if the tank room is power washing, it is unpleasant. Their sauces are the stars of the cuisine. Tacos are tasty but main protein portion is small, about on par with the price. Staff was friendly and service mostly timely.
Francesco Russo
Neat combination of brew pub and Mexican food place. Food was pretty good. Burrito was smaller than expected and mine was ok (the brisket) but others that tried things like Thai chicken said it was delicious. Beer was really good. 3 stouts was way more than I needed. Those were strong.
Taylor Crammer
Fantastic brunch menu, with great mimosas and bloody marys for $2!
Ashlee Henderson
On of my favorite places to eat. Their food takes on an upgraded and elevated taste to your usual comfort foods. My favorite is the Steak Sandwhich. Also, they always have a great beer selection on draft. The Loud is a crowd favorite, as it is one of mine. The atmosphere is also very chill and an easy place to hang with friends. Overall, 10/10. Would recommend.
Derek Tomes
Stopped in for a quick quite while traveling through. Service was a bit slow but we were outside so I can understand. There was very few guests in the restaurant though. Chips and salsa was pretty good. Chips were WAY too salty. My wife and I both ordered burritos. My baad ass burrito was good. That Haborano sauce is HOT. My wife got a brisket burrito and it was weak. Very little brisket and not mixed in at all. Cool place needs some attn to detail.
JD Dillious
The atmosphere is perfect, nice place... Well worth a second try to find it. Nacho fries are amazing, Octoberfest on tap is excellent, and their Nashville Borrito is the best i've ever tried! If you struggle to grasp what the heck sweet potatoe salad is like me just keep it simple and try a bite! The owner/manager has obviously taken extra care in every detail to ensure their customers have a truly special place to keep at the top of their list in the Capital of the mtn state amidst the beautiful fall colors... Will surely keep me coming back too!
Christopher Adeigbo
A nice restaurant with good atmosphere and a wide variety of dishes. I enjoy that I could come to this restaurant every night for a week and still order a dish that's unique to Black Sheep. There is also a fairly decent bar and plenty of outdoor seating.
I only have two gripes. The first is that the pours in drinks are sometimes very light. And second, the price for a side of salsa is absurd. I do not know why something like a burrito doesn't come with salsa already, and it's $3 to order a side of salsa?
Andy Ray
Clean friendly restaurant. Good service , ok food.
Kyle Burrows
Great atmosphere and the beer was great too - original styles that were delicious. The flavors and ingredients for the tacos and burritos were fantastic. Only missing star is because the burritos weren't grilled. A warm and toasted flour tortilla would have sent it over the top!
jesse taylor
My last review of this place was 5 stars. Could only go with 4 stars this time. The food and beer is still great, and fresh, and innovative. The ambience is exactly wat I look for in a restaurant, but the service this time was subpar. 2 1/2 stars at best. Main complaint was the servers lack of interest or ability (not sure which 1) in answering our questions. While n a micro brewery im wanting some descriptions of the beer. I was interested in an imperial stout beer called rye'd the void. I asked about the beer and the only thing I was told was that it was an imperial stout. There was no attempt to explain to why their imperial stout may be different from others. That was when we first sat down and the assistance never really got much better. While this won't deter me from coming back again, if the next few visists are similar then my opinion may change.
jim jack
I'd give it 55 stars if I could. Absolutely amazing. I had the chorizo burger and my only regret is I couldn't eat half a dozen more. My girl got the black sheep salad with cucumber dressing and I was axed at just how good it was too. I had two spicy pineapple margaritas and they were probably the best drinks I've had at a restaurant. Perfect mix of spicy and sweet. Go there and enjoy.
Taylor Kuykendall
Great food and beer in Charleston, W.Va.! Their habanero hot sauce is delicious, but actually registers pretty hot which I loved. The variety and quality of beers was really good and significantly better than a few years ago when I was last here. I particularly enjoyed their IPA, The Loud, but also dug some of their other darker, boozier options as well.
Emma Sitler
Not an ‘authentic Mexican’ place, but one of my favorite places ever. Large selection of craft beers and great food. First timers should get the flock of tacos, this is your choice of any 3 tacos. I recommend the Thai, steak, and pork. The peanut sauce on the Thai is amazing!!!! That’s also why I love the Thai burrito.
Andrew Vanek
Wasn't to bad they just put to much coleslaw in the brisket burrito so made it a little overwhelming to everything else in it.
Brenda Moczygemba
Was there for a late weekday lunch. Great service. Great beers. Fresh food. Only problem was making a decision on what to order with all the nice-sounding options. Will go back if we ever pass through town again. Fried beet taco was amazing.
What in the World with Kevin Sandes
It just wasn't good. I really wanted it to be good but it wasn't. Had the Bulgogi Burrito (bites of beef were too big and chewy) with the noodles (noodles were over cooked and too soft) as the side. I love Korean and all types of Asian food. The space is nice. Beer was good. Bartender was friendly enough for a 3:30pm guest. *I would try again
Jeff Rowe
Enjoyed the beer, an IPA. Chicken burrito was OK, appeared to have little chicken and more beans. Wife's Thai Peanut with tofu was better. Located in downtown area, staff was good, we arrived about an hour before closing and just needed a quick bite. We found street parking fairly easily and just walked to the restaurant
Michael Tatum
Great customer service and friendly staff Great food
Steve Tippner
My dinner was perfect but my daughter had dry mahi mahi. That is the only flaw in our experience and I will eat there often in the future.
Meaghan Karaffa
Cultured and creative menu! The burrito and margarita options are fantastic with choice ingredients. I was very impressed with the quality of the food - tons of flavor with creative twists. I recommend the general tso's tofu burrito and the mango margarita - the mango marg has a chili salt rim and actual mango puree - I was left very impressed! Not to mention their beer was also very good. We got one of the saisons :)
Tom Langley
I went to this restaurant with my girlfriend's family (so, there was about 6 of us) and this was my second time visiting Black Sheep. I had the Falafel and Hummus wrap which was absolutely delicious. It was filling, used high quality ingredients and all the flavours really worked well together. However, I do have to also mention how amazing the service was, our waiter was called Jack and he went the extra mile for all of us by being attentive and we had a birthday cake also which was presented then put back into the fridge without issue (usually other places are funny about this). I would certainly come back to Black Sheep, the food is always great and the prices are very reasonable. I tend to visit Charleston twice a year, and I will make sure that each of my visits comprise of going to Black Sheep at least once!
Adrian MOsby
Great lineup of rotating Bad Sheppard beers from the on-site brewery. Awesome tacos and burritos. Really great atmosphere. Saturday & Sunday brunch is great, the shrimp and grits are delicious. Definitely a must visit if you are in town!
john doe
Tacos are great, service is good! I’ve only sat at the bar here, but good place to come and sit for a while to kill time. Inexpensive as well so that’s a plus
Rob O'Connor
Delicious food and beer!
Blacksheep specializes in gourmet burritos and tacos, plus some other tasty fare.
The main reason to come is for the burritos and tacos, however. But don't expect Taco Bell. These are gourmet items, with fillings like Thai shrimp, beets, grilled asparagus, and Korean BBQ.
The beers are also quite nice, and brewed locally in Charleston.
For a specific recommendation, I'd go with a "flock" of tacos, that way you get a nice variety of tastes. And while all are good, I have to call out the grilled asparagus taco specifically.
Cory Woodruff
The service is friendly but slow when busy. My chicken burrito was honestly pretty bland—the only flavor it had was spiciness. For some reason my plate came with 3 tortilla chips on it? Like either put a good handful on or none. The asian noodle salad was very good though.
Luke Dechant
We had the breakfast burrito, California burrito and kids chicken quesadilla. All were great! Fries and Street corn potato salad sides also awesome. Beers were the Not Your Mawmaw's Berry Pie (very sour but very good!) and the Pat's Green Label Pilsner (flavorful). All workers seemed pretty introverted, but didn't neglect us.
Robert Barsotti
Food was excellent oh, it came out fast even though it was crowded and they were short-staffed. The bartender was very knowledgeable. I would definitely eat here again.
JeffBob Vlog
I travel ALOT. I seek out local places like this wherever I go. Not exaggerating. This is the best place that I’ve been to. I got the brisket burrito with Korean noodles for the side. INCREDIBLE. The beer is amazing. I took a 4 pack of “The Loud” home with me. I will recommend this place to anyone going to Charleston. So so good.
Gail J
Absolutely delicious and amazing staff!!! This place is a chill restaurant with a great menu, delicious beer brewed in-house and some of the local flare. Love their relaxed atmosphere and Summer at the bar is the BEST!!
Darrell Hugueley
Food here is kind of eclectic. Not that great tasting, but creative. Most people really come for the craft beers, though, and the selection is pretty good. But it ranges toward the eccentric, too. You need to go to say you have tried it. They growlers, so you can take home the ones you like.
Todd Dankmyer
This was the third time I have eaten here and every time has been fantastic. I have eaten two burritos and a ribeye smasher burger and all were delicious. Highly recommend to anyone.
Christopher P
Some of the best tacos I've ever had. The steak taco had the perfect mix of sauces and flavors with very tender and juicy meat. Upscale atmosphere. Excellent service. Full service bar.
Ryan Wickes
Nice beer selection and pretty extensive menu at a fair price. I enjoyed a couple different beers that are brewed in house and liked both, and got the "pick 3" taco platter which was very good. Sat at the bar and got friendly service, will definitely be back.
Harmen Steele
We stopped here for lunch on a quick drive through West Virginia. It was easy to get in and get served a flight of beer for lunch. The deck was dog friendly which was a must for our trip.
James Liston
Very nice spot. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The bar area is nice and the elevation change makes it feel larger than it is. Good food and good beer. This is a copy of the one in Huntington, but it's just not the same atmosphere. Just like a Primanti Bros chain, it's nice but not the same as the original.
Foster Clark
After waiting about an hour for our food, the burrito came out cold. As did the tacos that my coworker ordered. They did remake the food for us, but overall it was only an ok meal. Their beer was quite good though, though it had a limited selection. I'd probably come back to give it a second chance but it was a very mediocre experience
Ivan Herndon
Service was decent, food was great, beer was amazing, and the prices are about what you expect at an upscale gastropub. My biggest complaint was the wait for our food. It was a weeknight and it still took 30-45 minutes for everything to arrive. I will probably go back, but never on a weekend!
DeAnna Garland
My family stopped by on our way back home to NC from visiting family. This was a great find! With us being vegan, it's kind of difficult to find places to stop on a roadtrip that are vegan friendly. Our waiter was very helpful and was very educated about their menu and how to make our orders vegan. Not to mention, our food was great!
Eden
The margaritas and mexican fries were great! Burritos are kind of bland but are a good portion and the sides are good.
Eric Meadows
Great food, great microbrewery! Taps are regularly being updated with their newest news made in- house. Their "flock of tacos" menu item allows you to sample three of their many choices of delicious tacos. Sunday brunch offers cocktail choices. Outdoor seating available.
Mary Dubiel
What an awesome surprise. Highly recommend skipping pizza and eat here instead. Burritos are fresh, and I mean fresh. Our server Clayton, was very accommodating. He knows how to wait tables and allow customers to enjoy their meals.
Kiefer Thomas
Decent food. Good atmosphere but seems a little.....reserved. In that, I mean, staff seems more intent on talking among themselves & patrons seemed to keep to themselves.
Beer was good. But weirdly, their website has NO beers advertised, nothing.
It's a brewery. In order to find out what they have available, you have to call. It's VERY odd.
Darby Brown
nicest staff in Charleston, love this place ❤️ everyone is made to feel welcome here. tons of vegetarian options. amazing brews. absolute favorite and for a great price!!
Rick Slavik
The food at Black Sheep Burrito was incredibly good. Don't make the mistake of assuming it's just a burrito place. Beyond the tortilla shell their amazing dishes have very little in common with the Tex Mex most of us are familiar with. My family of four each got a different burrito that we all loved. The beers are quite good as well with several interesting styles. Joshua our server was fun and attentive. I now have a reason to get off the highway when I'm driving through Charelston.
Matt Papai
Really good beer and decent food. The staff was friendly and we're polite about us staying after closing to finish our food and drinks. I am glad to know that there is a good place to stop in Charleston and will be back.
Sebastian Duque
Our server Madi was WONDERFUL. Very attentive, had no issues with us requesting to sit outside (we had pups), and overall made our quick detour in this town from an RV trip very pleasant.
Erika Oliver
The food was pretty good, however it was pretty slow service and we were there in the afternoon when they didn't seem to be busy. My husband got the falafel burrito which was good and I got the flock of tacos. My tacos were lukewarm and would have been much better if they were warm. I think this place has a lot of potential as they have several unique menu options, they just have some small fixes to make!
Ryan O.
Great tasty food, good beer selection and not focused like some folks on too many IPA's. The wait staff are super helpful and friendly. Their burritos are good, but I recommend their tacos, you can really get your moneys worth there. Located close to kther restaurants and bars in old downtown.
Pauline Ohm
This place is bomb! My boyfriend and I travel across the country and our go-to is nachos and these were by far the best nachos! Thank you Black Sheep for the wonderful food and our waiter Fielden was super thoughtful and one of the best servers we ever had. Usually, when we travel we go to new places but this is an exception we are coming back for sure!
Christina Patton
Great food, GREAT STAFF!! When you go, ask to sit in Danny or Corey's section, you will NOT be disappointed! Their kitchen manager, Carter, does an amazing job making sure everything you order is fresh and amazing! The dining room manager, Kevin, is constantly walking around to interact with patrons and make sure everyone is being taken care of. The food is made to order, and the desserts? To die for!
Jacqueline Manassero
If you haven’t checked out Black Sheep you are definitely missing out! Chelsea waited on me and my family and she was very informative and attentive. She suggested the asparagus taco which sounds super weird, BUT DUDE, it was the best taco I’ve ever had!!! Also, don’t forget to go for brunch on the weekends, their chicken and waffles and bloody Mary’s cure even the worst hangovers! Eating local is the best 🙌🏼
Pamela B
Good food, very good service.
Nice selections of brews.
James Rinehart
UPDATED REVIEW: I absolutely LOVE their Badass burrito! I've often promised myself when I go that I'll order something else for a change but go right back to it. I wish they had a location in the Fayetteville, WV area! It would absolutely kill!
OLD REVIEW:
Always great burritos. Great atmosphere. Very affordable. Get the badass with the sauce. Its delicious.
Deanna Watts
I love love love Black Sheep. The food is consistent at every location. The menu has items you can’t get anywhere else. I mean, asparagus tacos. Come on now. And it’s been my experience there that the weirder it sounds, the better it tastes. I want to try everything on the menu, but I also want to order all the things I’ve had before because they were so good. You can’t go wrong.
Teresa Stimpert
One of my favorites downtown! The food is something different, and whether you're in the mood for tacos, a burrito, or wings - there is plenty of unique dishes to choose from. I've never had a meal here that wasn't delicious. Be sure to try one of the local Charleston Brewing Company beers available, or one of the mules or sangrias. The drinks are delicious and the service is always prompt and courteous. It can get a little loud in here, but it adds to the liveliness of downtown. There is also an outdoor seating area where hey have always welcomed my dog with a bowl of ice water.
Tim Bresnahan
This place is really good, but I don't know what's better, the beer or the food. I had their hazy IPA, which was as good as any I've tasted. The other beers sounded interesting and I wish I had the time to check them out, too. I ate the tuna burrito with roasted red pepper cole saw.... Outstanding!
Jessica Harris
Service was slow. Food was good and beers are always good...but hit or miss depending on your palate. I understand workers are sparse, so hopefully that was the reason for slow service. Overall, good.
Jason Willey
One of my favorites in Charleston. Beer was awesome as usual. Food a little under par this visit. Ordered the chicken burrito. It was OK, way too many black beans for the amount of chicken. Loved the sweet potato salad side. Worth a visit.
Annie Frost
What a great surprise! Absolutely amazing place. The menu has a bunch of items we want to go back and try. Great beer selection and wonderful margaritas! We loved it. You won't be disappointed!
Clark Zealand
Incredible place with an amazingly creative menu. We walked to the restaurant from the hotel and it was easy to find using Google maps for navigation. We arrived for an early dinner and, even though there weren’t many customers at this early time, there was still plenty of staff around and hence, we were seated immediately. There are many seating options, including: booths, tables, high bar chairs/tables, bar stools, as well as outdoor seating. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive to our needs. The menu has, in my opinion, the most creative ideas for burritos and tacos I’ve ever seen. The wide variety and selection of burritos and tacos made it hard to decide. We tried a few different items as a way to test and none were disappointing. In the end, I went with the following tacos:
Bulgogi: Korean BBQ marinated Flank Steak, Kimchi, Smoked Cashews, & Cilantro
Brisket: Smoked & Molasses glazed, Mt. Mustard, Macerated Raspberry, Fried Shallot
Thai Shrimp: Tempura fried Shrimp, Thai Hoisin-Peanut Sauce, Carrot-Daikon Relish, Cilantro
While eating there, the restaurant got busier and busier and I can easily see how this restaurant is an extremely popular choice in town. I highly recommend this place. Good location, friendly staff, and amazing food!
Katie Lenninger
Stopped to spend the night in Charleston on our way from SC back to Michigan, and visited on a whim. We were originally appealed to the selection of burritos, and the food and drinks overall way exceeded our expectations! Our server Zach gave us great service and some excellent recommendations, and we loved everything that we ordered. We will definitely be making Black Sheep a destination any time we’re traveling through this part of the States!
Marty Flaherty
I wish I lived closer so I could try more on this menu! Wings were great, tacos were great....it was a good experience all around. I bought extra just to take home to Columbus with me!
Erin Krusee
Decent food and beers. Service was good, and our server was friendly.
Stephen Suss
Great beer. Food was quiet good. Korean BBQ sandwich was great. The General Tso burrito was ok. I'd eat here again since the menu has plenty of interesting sounding dishes.
Nathaniel Husted
The beer list looked great but I was unable to partake. The play on burritos was very interesting. I picked up a curry burrito. The burrito was delicious though I wish it was a bit larger. The meal was filling enough and had a reasonable price.
Jamie V
Loved it! The wings are huge and so tasty. The tuna taco is unreal, the brisket and blueberry BBQ sauce is awesome. Enough beer selections to keep anyone from getting thirsty!
Sharon Hinchman
Great food. Good selection of beer. Nice attentive, and apologetic, wait staff. Very noisy. Hard to have a conversation. Friday night our wait was 11/2 hours to get a table for 6 people. Then another hour to get our food. Maybe better for lunch or a weekday night.
Emily DeTemple
My favorite restaurant of the trip. Food was great, drinks were great. Our server (and the manager) were very friendly and helpful. Can't wait to come back
Chris Marois
RUN DO NOT WALK TO THIS PLACE!!! Literally some of the best food I have ever had. Their beer is also great. If you have not eaten here you are seriously missing out. Was in Charleston for 4 nights, and ate here twice it was so good.
Laurel
I was very happy to have found this place. I was on a short layover in town and it was July 4th and found this was opened. I had a fantastic vegan burrito. I was very surprised to find that a vegan option was offered. My husband had a chicken sandwich that he loved.
If I am ever in WV again I will be sure to go back.
Brian Malonzo
Not bad at all. Read reviews that the food was bland but I didn't find it to be the case. Ordered the bulgogi burrito and the California tuna burrito. The tuna was well portioned but the flavor was hidden under all the stronger flavors. The bulgogi was sparse and the burrito was mainly rice but the flavors we're balanced. A little high priced for the portioned served in my opinion but still interested in trying their offerings like the flock of tacos.
Christopher Bailey
Our server was attentive.. Everyone's food was correct and delicious. The portions do not appear to be very large but are absolutely filling. Enjoyed my lunch and will definitely return.
Chet Patel
Tiny little place downtown. Needed a place to eat fast and make it to the airport. This restaurant surprised us. Quick and great tasting. Great Mexican flare. Just the right spice. Lunch was priced fairly. It's been 35 years since I've been to Charleston, but if I ever come back, I'll come back here!
Brandon Leuchtag
Great looking place. Very clean. Service was amazing. Nice people. Food was okay. Nothing to rave about. The coffee was kind of sour tasting. Wish that was better. Probably would eat there again.
Natalie Kakhidze
Unfortunately I didn't get to try their beer, but I really enjoyed my vegan burrito. I really appreciate the brewery that has vegan options, not just wings. I was in town for a work trip, but if I'm back, definitely will come back for more burrito and beer!
Jason Hebert
Awesome tacos! Bad Shepherd Beer was also very good. Service was friendly and professional. Keep up the great work!
Melissa Jarvis
I always have high hopes for this place and I'm always disappointed. I thought I'd give it another try. I ordered a BLT with pinto beans. There were two very small pieces of bacon on it and a thin piece of tomato. There was lots and lots of lettuce. Also, the beans were not cooked through. They still had a "crunch" to them. That is to say they were not soft like a properly cooked bean should be.
My son told me I shouldn't order a BLT at a burrito joint, and maybe he's right. But I say if it's on the menu it should be prepared and served correctly.
Patrick Molitoris
Where some restaurants and bars can be hit or miss in downtown Charleston, Black Sheep and Bad Shepherd are a GREAT pairing. We were swinging through town from North Carolina to DC, and this was the place to be. Food is super fresh, and the brews rival their big city brothers. Keep up the awesome work!
Joe Johnson
Had a great first time experience. This restaurant has a fully functional brewery, can make up to 17 different beers. The food was great, some of what I ate was borderline spicy. But that is just me, weakling when it comes to spicy hot food. The menu is very chef oriented. Interesting burrito fusion cuisine. Had the falafel humus burrito, excellent. Have large portions, of entrees. Sat at the bar, with tender Oliva. Great gal, graduated from Wesleyan. Her other job is with a nonprofit. Beside the point I guess. The crowd is eclectic, everything from college kids to foodies and restaurant people. On a final note, everything was wonderful. Failed to mention , it can be a little loud.
Dalton Kendig
My first time here, it was incredible. It wasn't too busy for a lunch hour, but still loud enough that I had to speak up and listen closely to hear. Guacamole was amazing. The chips were salty, but not too salty. My chicken guacamlole quesodillas were beautifully arranged and warm. The presentation was wonderful and the staff was nice.
Definitely coming back next time!
Helenia Sedoski
Always a win! The asparagus and the avocado tacos were fantastic and something I have not had anywhere else!
Brusha Fish
Tasty food and great beer in a very friendly atmosphere!
Kate Meeks
Really good food, got the California Tuna burrito this time and it was delicious. Only if you're okay with rare tuna though! Would also recommend the Bulgogi and the Falafel burritos. They also have craft beers, had a list of 11, so a decent (but not huge) selection.
Mark Parker
What a very pleasant surprise! The bulgogi burrito was outstanding. My wife's steak sandwich incredible. There are other things on the menu that look very interesting. Given how good these entrees wear, I can't expect it would be any less delicious.
Courtney Tuck
We stopped for a late lunch after looking over your menu online. The variety of tacos and burritos peaked our interest. We ordered the queso and trio of salsas for an appetizer. The chips were great! The queso was good, but all three of the salsa offerings were very basic... not the flavor or pizazz we expected. The corn salsa tasted like corn from a can and had very little seasoning or flavor. The pico was also in dire need of a bit of jalapeño, cilantro and lime to wake it up a bit. Our entrees arrived and things got better. The brisket quesadilla was very good. The portion was a good size and the meat was cooked very well. We also got a few tacos to share. The steak taco was delicious with the fried shallots. The Korea BBQ taco was very good, but we were a little disappointed that the beef was the exact same steak cubes that were on our steak taco- we were hoping for genuine Korean bbq beef. The Baja fish taco was very tasty! The fish was nicely cooked and the cabbage that was with it worked well. The Korean noodle salad was the one absolute fail with our lunch choices. It was cold Raman noodles, mixed with some minced carrots and a faint splash of sauce, and topped with chopped nuts. This definitely needed a more flavorful sauce and bolder spices/herbs. Overall this was a good restaurant and lunch experience.
Bethany Wagler Page
The roasted beet salad and Thai coconut lentil soup were absolutely amazing. Good service and our food was prepared quite quickly. One warning: My husband ordered a burrito with the Habanaro Death sauce. He loves spicy food and eats it all the time, but he could only finish half because it was burning his mouth so badly. So get the sauce on the side. :-)
Bruce Jones
First visit. Very pleased. Memorial Day crowd was noisy . They were very busy but got the job done efficiently and quickly. Food was really good and prices reasonable. Parking building directly above the restaurant was a real plus since it was raining. We will return for sure.
Robert Kervin
Had a great time, from out of town the hotel recommended the place, house brewed beers and cocktails were great and well balanced, the wings had good flavors, but were more like zingers and not real wings, the burrito was great, had the Hawaiian!! The bar staff defiantly knew what they were doing, would defiantly go back.
Greg Hite
The Thai peanut chicken burrito is one of my favoritethings to eat of all time...with a side of cold Korean noodle salad. Good home brews as well
Austin Wesley
Had the chicken burrito and three tacos. Tacos were avocado, garbanzo bean, and chicken. Food was amazing and service was friendly. Cool atmosphere and great location.
Marcellin Kopandru
The imperial Stout was excellent. The Hawaiian burrito could have been better. Not enough meat, not enough plantain, not enough pineapple, just a lot of red cabbage. The service was good.
Aaron Geething
A West Virginia staple (though born in Huntington), taco/burrito fusion deliciousness. Food is solid, suggest any steak based item and corn tortillas (but have a fork handy if going corn). Love the sweet potato salad and they have great wings if you aren't trying to get too crazy. Almost always a good place to stop in town, unless everyone has the same idea then it can be a bit slow. Like many of Charleston's restaurants since passage of the Brunch Bill this place shines on Sunday Mornings.
I think it would be 4 for me on food and service but the addition of Bad Shepherd Brewery serving inspired new Micro-brews made opposite my favorite bar stool seals the 5 stars.
Kaleb Falin
5 Stars every time. That includes Huntington as well.
Cloressa Orr
Amazing food! The California burrito is a must! Just as good as the mom and pop taco shops in San Diego. Full of flavor and it had the potatoes in it, which is just as essential as the Carne Asada meat and Guac! The potatoe salad side dish was unique and flavorful as well.
Adam Baker
Great service! Food is on point and their "death salsa" is amazing! They even sold me a small container of it to go! Excellent place! Highly recommend!
Andrew Bezik
I've been here twice on 2 tours and there is nothing of disappointment here. Everything is extremely fresh and delicious. They also have extremely spicy dishes for those inclined. My first choice of restaurant and food when coming to Charleston!
Josh Hoffman
Beer was great. Got the IPA and smoked porter. Food on the other hand not so much. The pork burrito was pouring grease when I bit into it, so much so that the plate was completely covered before I finished 1/2. Sat there for 10 minutes before before bartender followed up and offered me something else; ordered the grilled chicken torta. Extremely dry but still more edible. Paid for more expensive burrito in the end. I was told by patrons that most hang there while waiting for a table at Pies and Pints across the street and will go there next time.
Griffin Canterbery
A cool little restaurant in Charleston with a very interesting menu and great food
Julee Rimes
Great service and top notch food 👌 Recommend if you're in Charleston or Huntington West Virginia …
Randall Savage
Their menu is very varied and can be a bit overwhelming however I can assure you that the food is excellent. Our waitress Soraya was helpful, prompt and friendly makimg the overall experience better. She also saved me with the quick milk. I had the chorizo burger, ots whole patty is chorizo but, beware it is spicy. Like SPICY spicy. Worth it though will be returning!
Kayla Dykhouse
I had an amazing time here! My bartenders Shaun & Tyler were wonderful! So nice. So glad Stephanie recommended the place! I got a flight & The Loud was so amazing I had to bring a howler home to Michigan!
Hayden
Very nice and clean environment. The employees were very professional and upbeat. I would recommend this place to any of my friends or family members. I never have any problems when I visit here. Great experience and awesome beer!
Franc “BeingFranc” Floyd
Amazing Food, Great Atmosphere, & Good Prices
Brady Campbell
Food is great and the beer selection is delicious. The tacos all taste great. Don't be afraid to go outside of your food comfort zone and try something new. You wont be disappointed.
Jonathan Fernandez
Delicious food and great staff. The burritos with the side of rice is always great. Although it may seem like a small meal. It does pack of punch and you will be satisfied.
Clinton Lewis
Pretty good food and very quick service. I thought the burrito was presented more like a wrap then i am use to but it was still good. Got a flight of beer and its not bad, enjoyed it.
Ben Wilson
Great place for lunch, dinner, or drinks. I like the atmosphere and the food. I'm from the northern part of the state and frequent Black Bear Burritos. Black Sheep has the same type of feel and similar, though maybe more creative, types of food.
Also, the tuna burrito is where it's at!!
LeeAnne
VEGAN OPTIONS YAAAYYY!!! Attentive,friendly staff.
Angie Carducci
We have an occasion to be in Charleston once a year and this is always our stop. Fantastic specialty burritos and tacos, extensive beer list and great service. Black Sheep 🐑 rocks!! …
Corey Zinn
THE spot in Charleston. Such eclectic but comfort foods. Hard to pass up a flock of tacos with all kinds of unique concoctions. Falafel burrito is my other personal fave. And of course the only brewery in Charleston as of now! They do an awesome job with it and get creative. Love their IPAs and sours. Good outdoor seating in the warm season and an awesome rentable room. Great management and staff.
Jim Cole
If you're thinking Mexican... don't. The only thing Mexican are the tortillas. But if you're game for some pretty interesting and tastey foodies wrapped in a tortilla; this is your place. The service and atmosphere were good - you get the sense the proprietor isn't an amateur, and yet goes out of the way to keep that friendly and understated... an honest "we've got something different and I really hope you enjoy it" feel.
Rachel Q
Not a fan. Gave it a second chance still not a fan. 3 stars because the black beans, rice, and French fries were good. The service wasn’t bad either. Chicken wasn’t good but wasn’t awful. They forgot the chicken in my burrito and then when the waiter brought chicken to add to the burrito it had no sauce !?!? It’s a General Tso Chicken burrito but minus the general tso sauce? Like I said not a fan, probably won’t go back.
Chris
Outstanding ale, food and especially the staff- they aim to please- great experience and a must visit if you visit Charleston!! Attention to detail is impeccable- the roasted beet salad with goat cheese, walnuts paired with their house made mild sour red ale aged on cherries is a decadent treat for the ages!
Dent Lambert
Ouch. The Loud....best IPA in WV. The Habanero hot sauce was perfect. Hot hot and tasteful, but able to enjoy it . Service e was great. Smoked salmon tacos ( smoked in house). Will be back.
Dodge Tucker
Great food, fast and friendly service! The California Burrito was unbelievable and the guac was perfect. Highly recommend!
Kayla Donn Richardson
Visiting from Morgantown, and 2 different people told me to try this place. So glad I did. I got 4 tacos: Baja, Hawaiian, Brisket, and Tuna. The Baja was only alright; it didn't have much taste to it even though it had some kind of special sauce. The Hawaiian and Brisket were delicious. The Tuna was a.maz.ing. It was definitely my favorite. The guys behind the bar were friendly and helpful. They had a good idea of how much interaction is appropriate (a skill difficult to master, apparently). I would absolutely hit this place again.
Update: the Duck taco is delicious. The Roasted Beet taco was amazingggg.
I'll be stopping here every time I come to Charleston.
BLACK SHEEP, OPEN A STORE IN MORGANTOWN.
Morgan Wolff
Ate here for a brunch and was not disappointed! Tried the Biscuits & Gravy w/ Chicken and the Chicken & Waffles- both fantastic. Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s both are a decent price for what you get. Can’t wait to come back!
Kristin Wilkinson
Great atmosphere, expansive menu. Ordered queso and chips. When we ran out of chips the waiter brought more BUT we were charged for more. That sucks. Ordered the flock of tacos-portobello mushroom, baja fish and shrimp. Shrimp one had great flavor but only 2 shrimp. Not enough shrimp for it to be in every bite. Very disappointing. Need at least 1 more shrimp. Portobello one wasn't my favorite--I'm a mushroom fan but these mushroom were too difficult to bite through. Fish tempura one was very greasy--very heavy tempura not light and airy coating.
Rebekah Schemahorn
The flock of tacos was a great way to sample multiple flavors. I particularly enjoyed the roasted beet taco & Korean BBQ taco. I also enjoyed the “How Ewe Doin” beer.
My husband enjoyed the brisket burrito & the “Loud” IPA.
Adam Wilkins (Anarin)
While the food is solid, the wait time has increasingly gotten longer over the past six months. If you're on lunch and short on time, I wouldnt recommend a stop in. If you have plenty of time, their food is good and beer selection is interesting.
Moni “Dala” Ade
My sister's and I were in WV for the weekend and stopped by this place. I had a sangria sunrise for the first time. I loved it, great prices, friendly staff, nice atmosphere.
Kevin Ang
Great selection of beers Brewer by Charleston Brewing Company on site. Food selections are impressive with a focus on Burritos and Tacos. Chicken Wings were delicious.
Ian Etherton
Just stopped in while passing through WV. Surprisingly ethnic influences in the burrito list. Bulgogi, tofu, Thai, and curry burritos are just a few. The beer is solid. The have a mixed approach; offering everything from saisons to IPAs and sours. Great service. Kind people.
Alice Hu
Very good brunch. Good dinner burritos. Wait staff is pretty nice but, as it is usually busy, a little slow. Still, I really like the experience I had here, I would recommend it to foodies everywhere!
Geoffrey Bomarito
Nice joint. Good selection of burritos. Note that their kimchi is really spicy! Beer was okay too, wouldn't recommend the single serve Steve, though.
Laura Derosier
My favorite place to go in downtown Charleston. The food is delicious, the margaritas and mules are on point. The vibe is about as ‘hip’ as you are gonna get for West Virginia. Absolutely love it
Tony Grimes
Good beer selection. Enjoyed Wet Brexit and So Smoked Bro. Tacos left me wanting being less than substantial for single tortilla taco. Unfortunately spoiled by White Duck Taco, Asheville. Otherwise fine establishment for Mountain Stage preconcert visit.
Robb Major
Black Sheep tops my list of restaurants in Charleston. Incredible atmosphere, unique fare, great beer, and the staff treats you like family every single time. Their Saturday and Sunday brunch cannot be beat!
Mad Dog
Good service and nice place, the pork taco was good the other two, (mahi and tuna), not much to them. The chips and guac were good and generous.
Jennifer Wenner
They were out of trout and ahi, which cut my choices. Wide and excellent variety of tacos. The sweet potato salad was interesting, but I went get it again. Service was excellent.
Kody Gastaldo
The place was very busy and the servers did their best but I cannot give five stars because when we showed up there was a freeze on any food orders so we had to wait a while. The food was great and the ice tea was delicious. Just wish it went a little faster.
Amy Pantone
Stopped here while passing through. Excellent food, delicious brews & good prices. Nice atmosphere and freshly made food. This is a place I would hang out if I lived here. Highly recommend!
Andrew Tung
Reasonable prices for exceptional flavors, food and drink. Wasn't expecting this away from a major food market, to be completely honest, but I'm very glad to say I was wrong in my expectations. Black Sheep made me *excited* to explore more of Charleston!
Dan Lah
Burritos were excellent. Beer was pretty good too. Black bean side was disappointing and chips and queso were a joke, but hey at least it was only $2.95. Service was "ok". This is my second time to WV and I learned the first time to set expectations low when it comes to cuisine. For WV, this is above average.
Reggie Simmons
Great place to eat, relax and have a brew with friends. The pork belly, Hawaiian, and Thai Tacos were amazing. " Loud " IPA is a must try.
Jim Jam The Flim Flam (Jimmy)
Very good. Not the Moe's/Chipotle size burritos which is fine. But, the flavors that come with are delicious. Only flaw is that their burrito options are pretty limited.
Robert Schambach
The craft brews on tap are not the only things with a nose, subtle notes, tones and finishes.
The food stands on its own.
Those burritos and tacos are not your grandparents tasteless TB cheese goo covered whatever!
Carol lane
Traveling through town, from Indianapolis to NC. Searched for restaurants here. Wow did I pick the right one! Tried the trout, Hawaiian & pekin duck tacos & the BLT sandwich. ALL were FANTASTIC as was the milk stout! I will be stopping again.
Isaac Liu
The last (and only) time I went there service was dreadful, food was subpar, but I'll try to update this review once I go back which might happen someday.
Update: having gone back a second time a few years later, I can say that service is better and the food is pretty good. The only issue I really have now is with the small portion sizes.
Steph Lee
BIRRIADILLA.. I would drive 5 hours to have that again! Plus the cocktails and the loaded fries with vegan chorizo.. so good
Barbara Grigg
Had A party of more than 50 people (soccer team) in their party room with a taco bar and chips and salsa. Excellent food! And the price was very reasonable. Would definitely recommend this place!
U.S. Nomad
Good food, good beer good atmosphere.
Susan Rispress
Awesome Sunday Brunch experience!!
Miles Krompecher
The food is OK, but the atmosphere is incredible. The men’s restroom only has a urinal, no stall. I think they should diversify their menu a bit more.
Adam Katch
Beer selection wasn't what I hoped. Too many goses, sours and barrel aged for an average drinker. The IPA and Pilsner were good though!
Sasha
Good service, clean, laid back atmosphere. Food was good but wasnt really anything you couldn't make yourself, we were just out on a double date and our original planned restaurant was packed so we walked here. We left with no complaints and our bellys full
Steve Ristau
Food was excellent and service perfect. Only knock was the menu online was not the same as when we arrived. With a diabetic we had planned in advance. Was hard to find something on the abreviated menu. Still wonderful place.
Bethany Buchanan
Wow this place was good. All the sides sounded amazing and we couldn't decide so our waitress brought us a free sampler of sides! The burritos don't disappoint either!
Hayden Miner
Crazy delicious food, and a super helpful, accommodating staff. I personally don't drink and therefore can't vouch for any of the alchohol, but I can definitely stand behind the burritos 👍🏼 …
Stephen Schram
Very good food, great atmosphere, servers were very attentive. Fusion mix of taco/burritos with Asian, Hawaiian, Seafood, Steak, Chicken fillings. Affordable and upscale environment, outstanding!
Elizabeth Addams
The food is always amazing, as well as the staff. Only lil annoyance is finding parking.. but thats not them, thats charleston for ya.
I hot the General Tso Burrito (with tofu instead of chicken option) and the asian noodle salad. It was incredable.
Kody Jarrett
Highly recommend the smash burgers. Only reason it isnt a 5 star is due to the seating which felt a little too close to each other.
Stephanie Holcomb
The food and drinks were absolutely delicious!!!
Edward aluxek
The hazy was excellent. Very interesting specialty burrito selections. If you like beer and mexican, check this place out.
Angelica Polizzi
Classic and unique flavors in very American dishes. Good prices and portions. Beer on tap is also high quality!
Robert Thatcher
Incredible selection of burritos - takes some changes with combinations. Had a delicious korean-style burrito and choice from their beer line-up. Good vibe in the place. Super service.
Doug Chambers
A nice dinner alfresco. The piri piri chicken was very nice. Janet had the chicken club and enjoyed it too. And as always, the Loud IPA was tasty.
Joan Parker
Hummus and falafel burrito is yummy but HUGE, so bring your appetite. Service prompt and friendly. Get a flock of tacos. Try the new broccolini taco.
Tull Jethro
Owner was nice.. food was spectacular... drinks were good... will be returning
Noah McDonald
Good food and great craft beer. The four stars reflects the quality of the food. It's good, but nothing spectacular. A better food selection would be nice.
Jordan Ciarochi
Always delicious food here. Great selection of tacos and quesadillas are big portioned and savory!
Cali Caldwell
Really cool hidden spot in Charleston. Get a flight. Dakota was a great waiter, knowledgable in everything from fitness to literature. After, walk over to Rock City cakes for yummy sweets.
Jana Kristeen
Went here for a business meeting. Staff followed COVID guidelines, our service was excellent, and the food was fantastic. One of my favorite spots for sure.
Michael McDowell
Wow… I travel full time and visit a ton of breweries. This is in the top 90% amazing food, great beer, and even better service! Stop in!
Jordan Stellflue
Some of the tastiest wings I’ve ever had with some pretty good beer. Tried recreating the blueberry bbq sauce, they do it different and they do it very well.
David Abraham
Stopped in was served quickly and the food was tasty. Wide variety of tacos, tortas, and burritos. A nice place to visit if you're rolling through town!
Leia Renee
great food! I would definitely eat there again.
Sarah Lawson
Interesting tacos like seared tuna, bulgogi beef, fried avocado, and more. I wasn't too impressed by the tortillas though, and the lettuce that seemed thrown into the taco as an afterthought. Good beer and decent margaritas.
Teri The Cupcake Lady
My first time at Black Sheep was for a brunch with my sister. We loved everything!!! The Pear Sangria is to die for, our Server was great, food was amazing!
Jacob Mwinami
Very good food and fast service. I had the Nashville hot chicken burrito and The Loud IPA. Both were solid options.
Jon J
The beer is good and the food is decent. The beans suck. The service is slow when it is busy but very friendly. Ill be back but only if I have time to spare
Francisco Moreira
Good place. Try the brazilian drink once you there.
Gregory Hall
Wings and Tacos were delicious. Good beers and solid service. Happy I went. Would go again.
Tim Shank
One of the greatest burritos of my life. Excellent beer, with both staple and experimental sorts. Get the potato salad.
Everett Epperson
Excellent food with a great atmosphere. Had friends in from out of town and they really liked the restaurant. Can't go wrong!
Michele Jonjock
The staff were helpful being that it was my first time and patient with me choosing what I wanted . I enjoyed the unrushed experience and the food was great
Mack Johnson
Bad Shepherd Brewing is now offering its line of beers here. The food at Black Sheep is always great. The offering of craft beer brewed next door makes it even better.
Aaron Gray
The Apricot-Bacon-Bourbon glazed Buffalo Wings were some of the best wings we've ever had. Also, the Strawberry Rhubarb Margarita is top notch.
Gary Thompson
Always a comfortable experience. No pretense. Just good food and beer. They have salads that eat like a meal. Have never had a bad meal there.
Kelly Vandermolen
Food was delicious (chips and guac, falafel and hummer burrito and curry burrito). Good service. It was a bit messy (dishes on tables for a long time, floor was dirty and bathrooms needed to be cleaned).
Ben Farmer
The food and drink menu are ambitious but both were executed perfectly. Loved the creative taco selection. I recommended the Roasted Beet Taco!
Jeff Beverly
Good selection of local beers. Burritos are very good. Comfortable bar seating. One of the few places in Charleston where I like to sit at the bar.
Carrie Liptrap
Great atmosphere, food and beer! Our waiter, Aaron was awesome and knowledgeable and the GM, Kevin, was awesome too!
Highly recommend.
Derric Capteina
Good service, friendly staff, delicious and interesting menu. Their salsa is beyond on point.
Jennifer
Great eats, brews, and service. Parking garage right next to it, making it super convenient to locate as well. Highly recommend!
F. Joseph Pollock
Delicious burritos (and much more) in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The beers are made on site and the cocktails are also quite tasty!
Lauren Toivonen
I stayed in Charleston for a week for work, ate here everyday, and didn't even make it through all of the vegetarian options. Great food and service. Lots of vegetarian options!
Vonda Roberts
Enjoyed the Black Sheep salad very much, and the price was more than fair for the amount of food you get. The waitress was very busy, but most cordial and attentive.
