Reviews of The Oceanaire Seafood Room

This place service, staff, and food is exceptional. The manager will greet you and introduce themselves, to me that’s a perfect start. The waitress Maddy D. did an amazing job with everything, I don’t have bad to say at all. The food quality is the best I’ve had in a very long time, the parking is decent because at least it’s next the building and not in a deck or a long walk. Parking downtown is always a pain, I highly recommend this place for any occasion or the experience. The dress code isn’t force however I recommend business causal, it have the vibe and scenery for that plus you will look like an adult. Give it shot and enjoy shout out to Maddy D.

I really expected exquisite tasting food but it was just okay. It's a nice ambience but the food was way over priced and did not taste that great. I have had much better swordfish and steak. It was my birthday that my husband chose this place but I can't recommend it. The staff a was nice and the place was clean so I will give 3 stars but they really gotta step up with the taste if the food to match the prices. Really bland, they tried to add flavor with the sauces but just not there. The appetizers tasted better than the main course.

Great place for dining in downtown Atlanta and good ambience. The food is good. We ordered shrimp and grits, cocktail shrimps, fried calamari, crab cakes, steak, clam chowder and Baked Alaska.
Definitely order the steak- it’s really tender and juicy. The crab cakes were also very tasty.
The clam chowder was filled with potatoes and didn’t have any clams in it. It was also super thick.
Absolutely loved the shrimps. The desserts were okay.
Overall the experience was good.

I love The Oceanaire and have enjoyed their food & service for roughly 20yrs now. My first visit was for a birthday in Washington, DC.
I've been to this location a number of times with my last visit was for a mother's day brunch a few years back. My most recent visit was to celebrate a friend's birthday and we had a great time.

One of the best meals I have had the pleasure of enjoying in quite sometime. Our waiter was excellent. We enjoyed bread and vegetables while we waited on our appetizer. It was the perfect compliment to the Bloody Mary I ordered. I'm always looking for a good Bloody Mary and this place delivered. We had the crab cakes for an appetizer, they were packed with crab meat and just enough breading to give them a little crunch on the outside. For my entree I had the crab legs. Wow. Perfect. They were cracked down the middle and fully packed with meat. It was such a wonderful meal. When I visit Atlanta again I will definitely be going back for round 2.

So, I booked this place for my boyfriends birthday and overall it was good, however there were a few hiccups. As soon as we got there, we were seated at a wobbly table. They did fix it immediately when we bought it up to our waiter. Speaking of our waiter, we felt that he was a bit abrasive. The appetizer of escargot was delicious. Squishy snails and soft, airy bread served to perfection. The sourdough and relish platter was exquisite. Fresh butter and bread. My boyfriend had the dynamite swordfish, which he enjoyed very much. I tried some too and the flavors meshed together harmoniously. I had the filet mignon and Chesapeake crab cakes. I must say, that my own entree was rather underwhelming. The steak I had asked for to be cooked medium-rare, was cooked rare. I had finished half of it before my boyfriend pointed out that it was actually cooked RARE and that helped me to realize why I wasn’t enjoying my steak. I AM a newbie steak eater and this was only my third time having steak in all my life. So I did mention this to my waiter who was quick to offer to take my steak back and have it cooked more. The restaurant manager bought it back out to me topped with some butter and it tasted much better.
The mac and cheese served with my plate was delicious, however it had a rather reserved taste in my opinion. Nothing like I was expecting. The crab cake was also just okay. Going more into the steak, it had a nice crunchy crust, however I felt the seasoning was a little too salty. My boyfriend ordered a mocha latte which we both enjoyed very much. The ambiance was perfect. Gorgeous music playing softly in the background along with dim intimate lighting. After our meal we had asked for our bill to which our total came out to be a whopping $193.13. Well below what I budgeted for, but hey thats a little more money I get to keep in my pocket. The first time I gave my card to be charged it was actually declined as I hadn’t realized that I forgot to unlock my card. By the time we were being checked out it took our waiter probably 10 minutes to finish up the billing for us which was very frustrating because we were very ready to go. In the end he explained to us that they were having some issues charging my card because of the fact that it was declined the first time. So I’m like… okay. The recommended gratitude was between 15%-20%, but because I wasn’t so crazy about out waiter, I left 10% and some change. So, Would I recommended this restaurant to a friend? Sure I would. If you like seafood and being hit with the smell of the ocean as soon as you walk through the door, be my guest! Would I ever come back a second time? Not likely. For the amount of money I paid, I would have never expected to have encountered all the issues we did during the 2 hours we dined in for. I expected top notch and what did I get? Mid-notch.

The food was amazing! The steak was better than a steakhouse! The Chef came out to meet me for my birthday! I ❤️ can't wait to go back next month!
