Good food and great friendly service. The portions are on the money especially the ribs. The Mac and cheese was top notch but the standout performer is the Sweet tea. That stuff is addictive and once they sell out there is no more being bad. The butter sauce for the fried lobster tail is hands down the greatest and I recommend putting it on everything you can. It can get crowded but the line moves along and be warned fried lobster takes forever so call it in as someone has to wait almost 25 minutes for the sole item.

I had a chance to visit this amazing place the other day. I'll start out with a disclaimer, I gave them three stars for a specific reason but I would encourage everybody to go because I would go again. The staff was very friendly and inviting. They greeted me from the beginning and followed up with me throughout my meal. I went early in the day so unfortunately the brisket taste like it was from the day before so it wasn't very moist. The flavor was good and I could taste the potential. The macaroni and cheese was good the collard greens were real good. If you are in the area do stop by.

My stars are purely for the food. It’s great. Every time I go it’s the same and it probably some of the best barbecue I’ve had in Atlanta. But trying to get it?!?! Smh it’s like no one wants to work there. I mostly order pick up online and they make you show ID which I’m fine with, but to make me wait over 30min in line with everyone who’s waiting to place their order while I’m watching 6 people behind the counter laugh and be on their phone is not what I’m okay with. Mind you they send a verification text to let you know when your order is ready so you don’t come early due to lack of standing space; so I have to wait another 15-30 minutes waiting for people to order so someone can walk to the side and grab my order off the bookshelf. It is like this very often when I come and it’s even worse when it’s busy. Another thing, they often run or don’t have food in stock an hour or so after opening and as a culinary graduate it just bothers me a different way. Food is great. Service sucks and everyone always got an attitude. Normally I get the Ribs with potato salad & collar greens and the half chicken with collar greens & macaroni. This time I got pulled pork and I LOVED it.

The BBQ here is legit!! There aren’t many places around the city that has fall-off-the-bone BBQ and bomb macaroni and cheese, but THEY DO!! Service was friendly and there was definitely a vibe in this “order and sit” establishment. I had the brisket sandwich, which was perfectly smoked, tender, and juicy. I had it with a side of baked beans that I wasn’t crazy about, but I tried my husband’s macaroni and cheese and WISHED I had gone for it. OMG! The macaroni is so amazing. He also had a half rack of ribs and refused to share (I’ll take that up with him later), but incredible is an understatement. The sauce is sweet and smacking! Needless to say, we’ll definitely return in the near future. Try them out.

HUGE portions with the fries, ribs & sliced bread. Not sure why they gave us a whole loaf of bread. Ribs & chicken were tender, but could have used some seasonings. Personally for taste, I think it's overrated. The fries were great!

Hattie Marie’s Texas BBQ is definitely something you have to try! Trust me, if you see this place on social media the hype is real! The food is very fresh and will have you satisfied all the way to the end. Dining in was nice. The ambiance is cool with the smell of BBQ always floating in the air. This is a **CASH ONLY** business. Don’t be alarm its a ATM inside the restaurant. I give Hattie Marie’s Texas BBQ a solid 8.5 out of 10 the place is clean despite a few flies flying around. And they don’t take any credit payment for people who doesn’t physical carry money.

Food was great! Black owned located in College Park. I love that they make their own BBQ sauce— definitely a different taste I actually liked it the more I ate it. Sitting can be complex at times but there is in sort seating. Would recommend if visiting the city!

The good was delicious! My daughter got the half chicken and when she took her first bite she said it was seasoned perfectly. I stole her fries and she stole my potato salad. Mac n cheese, yum. BBQ Pulled Pork was tender. The staff was very sweet and helpful.

The hype is real! As a chef I’m extremely picky. The food here was delicious. We couldn’t try the Dino beef ribs, they were sold out. I tried the Fried Lobster Tail, Shrimp, Mac N Cheese, Bake beans and Cabbage was my absolute favorites. I went back to get a pint of mac n cheese for the kids. The food was exceptional!! Great portion size, flavorful and seasoned to perfection. We will be returning when in Georgia again!!! The Dino bone was extremely tender. The sauce was flavorful and compliment the meal. We had way more than enough for left overs.

One of the best places to go if your in Atlanta my brisket and potato salad was delicious and the ribs was falling off the bone and juicy I could not stop drinking that sweet tea,and for dessert please do yourself a favor and get the banana pudding chocolate swirl cake so delicious

This BBQ is exceptional! This potion size was much larger than expected and the staff was friendly as well. My aunt recommended Hattie Marie's and I must admit, it was worth the drive. Atmosphere: The restaurant was clean and a nice variety of music was played. Food: I ordered the three meat plate with brisket, pulled pork and ribs with a side of mac n cheese and cabbage greens. As I stated above the food exceeded my expectations and I had plenty left over to enjoy later tonight or tomorrow. The sauce was a perfect mixture of tangy and sweet. The meat was flavorful and moisture and the sides were pretty good too. Overall, I would definitely visit the eatery again and recommended it to anyone visiting the area.

BABY IF YOU HAVE’NT BEEN HERE ALREADY THEN YOU NEED TO. I came today and I loved it. When I say BLACK OWNED I MEAN BLACK OWNED. I love the fact that they had a all black staff. And the restaurant was decent eat in spot. The staff up front was amazing they had Pleasant attitudes even while they was beyond busy, and attentive to every customer. The staff in back work pretty good from what you can see. They all communicated Effectively with one another to Complete orders. I like the fact that the staff do come from behind the counter/ kitchen and make it appoint to check on customers I ordered the 1. Meat platter that came with 2 sides and a drink. I got the ribs, Mac and cheese, collard greens. The ribs was made perfectly, fall off the bone and Fresh just out the smoker. I love the fact that let you put your own sauce on them but honestly you don’t need it. The greens was amazing. They had lots of flavor I love hot sauce with my greens but I didn’t need it this time. The mac&cheese was amazing as well and I don’t eat everyone’s mac. Now I’m giving this place a 4 ⭐️ Because 1.) the wait time was crazy I waited over a hour for my food so I recommend you order on line or call it in. 2.) my order was 15-17 dollars but had to pay extra for a drink I felt should of came with the meal specially if your ordering a meal. So I spent about 20 for my food in total wasn’t too bad. 3.) the young lady that was in the back that served my ribs had them in her hand walking closer to the front and slammed them down in the to go box. And I was shocked she handled them like that I’m just assume She was irritated but don’t take it out on peoples food. 4.) the bathroom in the back was a lil nasty it was wet like someone sprayed it down or someone missed the toilet. It was a lil turn off that the bathrooms was unisex but it wasn’t that bad

The catfish was fried to perfection. The Mac was alright, looking to try that again. Maybe earlier in the day, it seemed a little dry at night. When I want a home cooked "itis" kinda meal, I go straight for Hattie (unless I feel like cooking). No complaints here, everything is always delicious when I order. The cornbread and cabbage with smoked turkey was my own cooking, everything else belongs to Hattie 😁

One of my bucket list restaurants to try in ATL - was disappointed the catfish was out when I went and had to get a 3-meat plate. It was wayyy too much food for me but there was no other way to get ribs without the 3-meat plate? However the collard greens were the best I’ve ever had and the skin of the chicken was so crispy! I wasn’t the biggest fan of the BBQ sauce or the mac&cheese but willing to revisit and try something else.

I visited during the week so wait was not bad. The food was good. My problem was with the price. I paid almost $30 for two rib bones and two slices of brisket with two sides and drink. My experience with a plate like this looks more like $17.

So! Though I have been in Atlanta for 22 years, I finally got the chance to visit this historical establishment. My husband ordered the three meat platter consisting of ribs, chicken and pulled pork with his sides being fries and baked beans. I ordered the Brisket platter with my sides being double Macaroni and Cheese. We shared our food. Firstly, this food had potential. It just needs simple things like salt for the Macaroni and Cheese and brown sugar and bell pepper and onion for the beans. The Brisket was the best thing about the whole meal 😋 the chicken was overcooked and they didn't break up the pork enough so it was difficult to eat. So enclosing; Veni Vidi Vici!

I had the catfish, mac and cheese and collard greens. The food was really good. The catfish was seasoned and fried perfectly. The collards had great flavor too. And I wanted more mac and cheese 😋 My biggest complaint was the 2 hr wait (1 hr in line and 1 hr for the food, which they said is typical on a Saturday) so next time I will definitely place my order online. And the staff was very kind; I could tell they were under a lot of stress from the volume of orders but they did their best :)

I'm always looking for excuse to go to Hattie Marie's BBQ. My best excuse is I need to charge my hybrid in the free charging station nearby. And no need to sit in the car while it's charging. Might as well stop by Hattie Marie's! I keep getting the same thing: ribs with potato salad and greens as my sides. The ribs are seasoned great, so good they don't even need sauce! They're tender and fall off the bone. The sauce comes on the side or on the meat. They give you some meaty ribs. Most BBQ places have mediocre sides but not at Hattie Marie's. The potato salad is full of good stuff including eggs. The greens are well cooked and seasoned with pork. It's too much food for me to finish in one sitting so I always have leftovers.

I wasn’t disappointed at all in paying the price of this meal. The food was delicious and the portions were very nice. I had the combination barbecue platter which consist of ribs and a half a chicken. I have passed this location several times and decided to finally check it out I have no regrets and I have spread the word to family and friends.

My husband and I had the fried catfish, shrimp, ribs, pulled pork, chicken, greens, and Mac’n’cheese. First off the young lady at the order counter need some ‘pep’ in her energy. She was alright but a lot of times the first impression comes from the order counter. The food was not bad but just not what I expected.

Food was okay! Didn't really have a distinct flavor, it was like any other barbecue restaurant. The reason for the three stars is it took one hour on a Saturday 3pm to get our food to go! First let me start by saying the food was absolutely delicious. I love the College Park location but I have to say the food was better at the McDonough location and portion sizes are even bigger. However there are a few things they do need to improve. 1. Customer service the team was friendly, however they were little bit relaxed. May have been because they were just opening for the day and not very busy yet. 2. Expand the closing hours to later to grab more business and open the bar. 3. Me & my husband were very excited to try this place. The wait was not too long when we got there. The portion size is good considering the price you pay for. The mac & cheese was very salty, couldn’t finish it. the potato salad was very good. We got pulled pork & shredded beef. I would expect it to come with some bbq sauce or some type of sauce but it did not. Overall okay, not good enough to go back unfortunately.

Hands down food was great except the fried crab leg. Once i informed them that I didn’t like the crab cluster the cook asked the cashier to give me a refund that was ok until a young lady came from the back with a rude demeanor and face frowned up. Was in Atlanta for my wifes birthday. She recommended this place from shows she seen on tv based out of Atlanta. The ribs and half chicken was cooked to perfection. My husband and I tried out this restaurant today, had a very great experience! When you walk in the staff is very friendly greets you. This place is very clean and you have the choice to dine in or take your food to go. The menu is versatile, its not just bbq. You have options such as sandwiches or you can also experience a taste of New Orleans❤️ We ordered the bbq wings and brisket with sides of cabbage & Mac and cheese. The meats were full of flavor... Absolutely slamming👌the cabbage is like grandma cooked it and the Mac and cheese was very good. It’s was a overall great experience and I recommend you try them out. You won’t be disappointed!

We were warmly greeted by staff when we entered. The prices were reasonable. We placed our order to take out. It was busy, but our wait was reasonable (5-10mins). First of all Hattie’s “Texas & Cajun” style is a bit of a misnomer. Didn’t see anything on the menu from Louisiana, let alone Cajun, with the exception of maybe catfish. We were hoping for dirty rice, red beans, Boudin, étouffée, PoBoys or maybe just a little something on the side. They did have a sign offering Gumbo in the fall. This is more of a southern Texas BBQ and sides place. I will say that the brisket was very good, smoky and tender. The sides however left a lot to be desired. The collards lacked flavor and could have been cooked down more. The beans were very sweet and nothing special.

My boyfriend and I came in for lunch on Saturday afternoon and we are so glad that we didn’t choose to go anywhere else. The food was delicious! I had the ribs, wings, Mac and cheese, and cabbage, and my boyfriend had the ribs, brisket, fried shrimp, cabbage, and fries. Everything taste amazing! The meat on the ribs fell right off the bone, and everything was full of flavor and taste fresh. There was no long wait and all of the staff were very friendly. Our meal was also very cheap and well worth it. The only downside to this place is that there could be more seating to dine in or at least more comfortable seating.

The friendliest person in the restaurant is the security officer. He was real cool and knew who had been waiting, thus who needed to order first. He even came to check on us and tell us he would check on our food. The rest of the workers either don't like each other, or do not like working in the restaurant. The energy was definitely off. The food was OK. We came home to eat it (they were rushing us out since the owners son had a boxing match so they wanted to attend the event, and thus wanted ppl to leave). We seasoned the Mac n cheese at home, only then was it really good. The greens needed more season as well. The chicken was good. I wish the catfish and shrimp were a bit more crispy but overall it was okay. Honestly, I wouldn't come back, especially not for the price. But THE BEST PART of the meal was their BBQ sauce. It is the BEST BBQ sauce I've EVER tasted. Ordering it online tonight.

I came here strictly to try to the mac and cheese. I’m a Mac and cheese girl so I often stop at restaurants just to try the Mac and cheese. With that said, their mac and cheese was delicious!! For that reason I give them 4 stars! They get deducted a star because, like some other reviews mentioned, the customer service needs work. You walk in, no one acknowledges you. You don’t know the line begins and no one will say anything to you to prompt the question. Once I walked around an interrupted a few employees conversation about whatever they didn’t agree with in the life, the lady told me I can order with her. A small side of mac and cheese is $4.30. The large was $12. It’s a very small portion-maybe 4-6 oz-but it’s tasty! After they prepared my side, they just threw it on top of the sneeze guard like a heavy trash bag. Didn’t say “here ya go, take this, order is ready” NOTHING. I had to ask if that was mine and a girl just said yeah and locked away. Lawd. I’d come back again if there is nowhere else in College Park with better mac.

I saw Hattie Marie’s all over IG and couldn’t go back to DC without stopping in first. Let me tell you.. it was worth the wait. The flavor of the fried crab legs and fried lobster were delicious and the ribs were so tender. Love a good cheesy Mac & cheese and it was everything. Their cabbage didn’t disappoint either. The staff there were so funny, hospitable and friendly. Definitely felt like a family. I left very full and very happy. Can’t wait to go back!

Ok if there is a line.. stand on it. It's worth it. You will NOT regret it. The greens, the brisket, the ribs... I seriously had to go back for round 2 of the greens to go home with bcuz I killed it on sight! I'm getting hungry writing this review.. The staff was friendly and loving and really gave you that southern hospitality that is rare & dying out in Atlanta bcuz everyone is moving there now. I can't wait to go back!!

Mac n cheese was good! My friend and I dined in...The disturbing thing was I used my debit card and after leaving both of our cards were compromised someone tried to make numerous $1K online charges. Small restaurant, long line, a little pricey but well worth it. Food amazing. Me and my 3 children tried just about everything the beef brisket, I ordered mine fatty it's good. The chicken wings good. And the beef rib Huge and slow cooked in a smoker a little heavy on the salt but cooked to perfection. We had mac n cheese, yams, and greens all delicious and we tried the chocolate pudding cake not my liking personally but the kids loved it. I would recommend Trying it out

Cashier wasn't as nice as she could have been. Food was pretty good. I ordered catfish extra crispy, cabbage, and macaroni and cheese. We waited inside as I watched people come inside and it was raining terrible. Several people forgot their ID and had to run back to their car and get it. Then they were told they needed the same credit card that they ordered with. They had to run back in the rain to retrieve it. When my order number was called i was told they had no cabbage so I asked for greens. Whuch all the food was next to the cash register except the fried fish. In front on the glass shield where the hot food is kept someone left their used face masked. I notified the staff and they removed it. But they seen it there, and moved it once I said something. Overall food was good and tasty. Need closer management of the young people who work out front. Just my observation!

When I say this was the best barbecue ever!! I ate myself stupid. It was really worth the drive from the Northside. Sides were on point, the customer service was on point. I wish that I had more of their bread so that I could dip it in the barbecue sauce! The wait time for the food to be done was well worth it. I suggest anybody that is looking for great barbecue please go to Hattie Marie's. If you don't have a car you ride Marta to college park station and walk across the street and maybe walk not even a mile. Excellent!!

Went here for the first time yesterday. Pluses: Decent food. It’s a rarity a place gets collards right, and this one did. The shrimp was big if slightly undercooked. Ribs and sauce were good. Macaroni better than most but not as good as homemade. So the food was okay. The workers were also friendly. So that’s a plus as well. Drawbacks: The ordering system needs MAJOR improvement. The system they have now takes way too long. You wait in line, someone comes up to you to take your order, hands you your invoice and you wait to give it to the cashier. Why is she not taking the order to the back to be filled? This would seem more efficient. I recommend getting a Six Sigma Lean expert in to advise on how to make the operation move more quickly. The wait time really does take away from the overall experience. Overall, this place didn’t live up to the hype for me, mostly because of the inefficient way it’s run and the long wait. Also, while the food was good, I didn’t find it to be so magnificent that it made me forget about the wait, which is what you’d want as a business. So I’m giving this place an average rating. I may or may not try it again and adjust my rating depending on a second experience. I’m just not sure yet.

My food was good. I visited a little after 6 PM close to closing time at 7 PM. I had the rib plate, with the Mac, and cabbage for the sides. The seasoning on the ribs is different but good, considering everyone has there own soul food preferences this works for a restaurant that has to cater to many different taste buds. I also tried the crab legs, the less meaty parts of the crab were fried and over cooked. I probably would not order the crab legs again but I would come back. If you can’t cook (be honest with yourself, you will love this place). I can cook so I would probably only visits on occasion.

Was greeted with a wonderful smell of smoked meat. Clean restaurant with friendly and patient staff. Did not like that there was only one BBQ sauce offering and that it is served in pouches. That's not how we BBQ where I'm from. Now for the important thing, the meat. I had the half chicken and ribs. The half chicken was small, likely the smallest half I've ever had. A bit dry but overall good. The ribs were unimpressive. Little to no flavor. I won't plan to go back. I want to be satisfied when dropping $25 on a hot plate.

Food was really good most definitely have the Texas Flavor. I been watching their IG page for years always said when I come to Atlanta I would visit, so I did. Their plates are pricey but well proportioned, two people can eat off one plate. The only thing I wish they had a sampler plate to try all the sides, seafood and BBQ. Smaller portions so out-of-towners can try it all.. $59.99 IJS. They closed on Sunday and Monday so it’s will be hard to go back... nevertheless the food was really good. Update.... had to change this place to a 4/27/21 my friend and I went there during our down south road trip. When we got there, we found out there was no sitting inside. The you lady behind the counter, and remember her name seen the disappointment on our faces and she sat us in the celebrity room and your staff may us feel like royalty. You guys are the best, and you food is amazing as well.

Went in this morning at about noon expecting a long line. Gladly, that was not the case! I ordered the three meat plate with brisket and double ribs, along with Mac & collards for my sides. Let me just say, DON’T BELIEVE THE HYPE! I gave three stars because the brisket was cooked perfectly and tasted great, but that’s it! Had to wait for the Mac to come out and it tasted extremely bland. My ribs were overcooked & not appetizing at all. Not sure if today was an off day or if this is the usual but I was very disappointed to learn that the one restaurant I’ve been looking to try to months is very subpar.

I didn't mind tipping but what did she do? you took my order I waited 45 minutes in total in line just to get my food to go. The service is slow, to many young people working (with attitudes and talking while making tea and food), they ran out of food while I was in line. They need to prepare more food because they have a lot of traffic in Atl so they should have prepared for a holiday weekend with so many tourist. The young lady announcing the food that they didn't have rudely told everyone in line "yall waited until the end of the day" very unprofessional. Please train your employees to not talk over food while preparing it without a mask and not to ask for tips and let someone bless them... asking is tacky.

If you are in the area.....Make a stop at Hattie Marie's. Being a Texan, I was a bit hesitant. I wasn't sure this place would measure up to the good ol' Texas BBQ I'm familiar with, but man o man did it!! I ordered the brisket sandwich with a side of greens. The entire meal was delicious! The greens were well seasoned and whoever made them is invited to our next family cookout! I tried some of my husbands baked beans and they were delicious too! The mac & cheese looked good but didn't provide a WOW factor for me like the other side items. Definitely hope to return in the future.

Paul (GM) went above and beyond providing my family excellent service. I sent an email to Hattie’s requesting catering service for our son’s college graduation as we are from Texas. Graduation was on a Sunday which happens to be the day they’re not open for business. Needless to say Paul reached out to me and said he would make it happen and HE DID! The food was AMAZING and my family enjoyed every bite. And did Paul mention he delivered it personally! Overrated. The food is decent, but i would not care if I ever went back. They are very unorganized. They brought out one item at a time. They brought out one side, then another then my meat. It was 3 of us and none of us got all of are food at the same time.Then the waitress brought an item to my table. I said I did not order it. She told me to just keep it. I saw her do this to several other tables take food that was not there or took double orders .There was another lady there and she said I did not get me food. Well the waitress had brought her food to my table. There was an older lady there who might have been the owner. She looked at me table dirty and said why would they take food that was not theres. I visited this place with my elderly aunt yesterday. I had the impossible burger and it was absolutely delicious. But when I dropped my aunt off she realized she didn't have her change purse. We called the store and spoke to Mignon. She found it and said she will keep it for me to pick up. I came back today and Shay, Mel, Nakeria, Deborah and Ann ALL knew about the purse and gave it to me. I would like to preface my comments by saying we arrived about an hour and a half prior to closing on a Saturday. Upon arrival there was a line for ordering and to be seated which according to the people in line ahead of us, the line hadn't moved in the last 25-30 minutes. Due to the line, the staff stated there were too many people in line and that we needed to wait outside. Now mind you it was 32 degrees outside with a wind chill of 23 degrees. With this announcement several of the people left and we stayed in line. With all honesty the staff was not the nicest and could have handle things a lot better with a little compassion and understanding. This day and age for a restaurant like this to be cash only is unfathomable. Who carries around large amount of cash these days most of us don't carry any cash (they do have an ATM with a fee of $3.50). Our order included two plates brisket, half a chicken, pulled pork, catfish, sliced brisket sandwich, fries, three mac&cheese, two baked beans, and cabbage. They were out of greens, potatoes salad, and corn bread. It took a while for our meal to arrive (I guess due to the fish). When our meals arrived with the exception of the the brisket and fries being cold and the cabbage being mostly liquid, the rest of the meals were good. The portions were also good. This restaurant could use some extensive training on customer service, management 101and common courtesy. I don't think I will be visiting this particular location again but will wait until the McDonough location opens and give it one more try. The McDonough location will have to step up it's game from the College Park location if it expects to survive. At this point you can't continue to blame poor service and performance on COVID-19 and lack of trained staff. PERIOD.

I’ll start by saying I’d eat here again. The ribs had a good tast but they were super tender. Super tender isn’t bad, I just like a little pull to my meat. The Mac n cheese was gross af! I hope I came on a bad day. I wouldn’t even eat it. I wouldn’t eat the baked beans either. The beans were straight out the can. The pull pork sandwich was really good but make sure your get extra sauce. It’s a little dry if you don’t. Another thing I didn’t like was paying $.50 for the splash of bbq in the pack. Overall, I would try it again but it’s nothing for me to jump up and down about.

Experience wasn't the best. Employees didn't greet customers, nor did I witness smiling. Work on customer service. I don't eat meat, so I had shrimp...the season was great. Shrimp hard. But my friend gave me his BBQ sauce for my macaroni, and it was great! He said his smoked chicken was the bomb! Updated response to management: I understand it's covid, but you are open. I was in line quite a while, and not a smile was cracked to any of us. And I sat down to eat and the lady asked could she get me something and never even brought it back to the table. There was no one greeting us that day either, so this is just my experience. I want black businesses to win...but I expect good customer service anywhere I spend my money. Even when it's busy, cause with times like now, you could have no customers. Thanks

The staff was quick, friendly, and efficient. I could see that it was really busy when I was there but everything came in a timely fashion and we got good service still. The FOOD touched my soul! My friends and I all loved every bit of our food. My only small complaint was the temperature, it was hot when we went but the food was so good it was hard to notice anything else. Visited for the first time August 1st, @Tim_Bae on IG raves about this place so I had to try it, due to Covid there was only a certain number of people allowed in which was understandable but the whole time we waited outside you hear a lady behind the counter screaming 🗣“CLOSE MY DOOR!”, 🗣“YALL GOTTA GO OUTSIDE” 😒 therefore we ordered online, the wait was scheduled for 2:18-2:48 unfortunately we had to wait until almost 4 o’clock 🤦🏾‍♀️ it was blamed on a large order that came in which has absolutely nothing to do with my order or the money I spent... 3 stars for the difficulty and not so warm greeting... However I was very satisfied with the food even though it took forever it was delicious and I was able to eat off of the plate twice, I plan on visiting again next month hoping for a better experience, looking forward to the ribs and brisket 🙌🏾

For the money I wasn't impressed ($45 for two plates). We were served a small plate of nothing but fatty part of the pork, enough just for a mouse to feed on. Baked beans seem store bought. I gave it a 3 star because the flavor is there in the meat. Just wish they had better quality meat for the price of the plate. Service was a 45min wait.

My people and I ordered the Dino Beef Rib it was good. It was a bit pricey but prices are going up everywhere, it came with one side I ordered two. I had macaroni and cheese which was good. The Greens had just a too much vinegar for my taste. Some use it to cut the bitter in the greens it seem to drown out the flavor of the green. Couldn't enjoy it. Later on that evening I had an experience that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

ORDER CAME OUT TO $109 AND CHANGE. WAITED ABOUT 20 MINUTES FOR HOT, FRESH, QUALITY FOOD. I BEAT THE CROWD, GOT CASH IN ADVANCE, PARKED AWAY FROM THE RESTAURANT, TOOK A SHORT WALK, FOLLOWED THE HOUSE RULES, ATE GOOD, AND REALLY ENJOYED MY VISIT. I WENT THERE AFTER 5PM A YEAR AGO ON AN EMPTY ANGRY STOMACH AND LEARNED MY LESSON LOL. THIS IS A WONDERFUL ESTABLISHMENT AND YOU CAN HAVE A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE IF YOU BEAT THE CROWD, FOLLOW THE RULES AND POLICIES, AND USE A LITTLE COMMON SENSE! FIRST THING I SAID WHEN MY FOOD ARRIVED WAS THEY ARE GIVING TOO MUCH FOOD FOR THE PRICE LOL, YOU WILL DEFINITELY BE TAKING SOME FOOD HOME. WILL MOST DEFINITELY RETURN AND RECOMMEND.

Wow! What can I say? Our experience was PHENOMENAL. The Food, Staff, Service, etc. We were visiting ATL and had Hattie Marie’s on our list of restaurants to visit. We have NO regrets! We even got a History Lesson and Photos with Hattie Marie’s Daughter-in-Law. She was friendly and our conversation with her was informative. We need a Hattie Marie’s in the DMV! LOVED IT!!

The BEST pull pork I have ever eaten. The potato salad was good. The macaroni and cheese had too much cheese. I am giving three stars because of the wait time. We waited over 40 minutes for our food. The guy holding the sign outside said there was no wait. I feel like he should not lie to customers. There are no refunds so you have to wait despite being told there is no wait. I appreciate the quality of food, but not the customer service. I would suggest calling in ahead of your arrival. They have the customers sit outside to wait for food.

The staff was organized, efficient, and courteous. The meats which included pulled pork, sausage links, ribs, and the meat lovers seafood was all good. I would have agreed with their chicken wings being good too; until I discovered a tail on one of my wings. I consider their prices to be reasonable for a BBQ restaurant. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend any of their side items. However, if you want to purchase a meal, then get the greens and baked beans.

I love Hattie Marie's always have . haven't been there in about 3 months but recently I had went there last week and the experience was kind of different it was an online order and waited outside for a long time the chicken was delicious but I got no barbecue sauce the dino ribs were so fatty the collard greens were very very spicy and overcooked the cabbage was good but it tastes so much like butter so it was a different experience that I had this time but I would always go there for the barbecue chicken which is the best thing ever

When I say this is the BEST BBQ in town I mean it !! We Drove all the way from Smyrna, Ga to College Park, Ga and it was well worth the drive.. Everything we had was delicious!! I’m not even a big meat eater but that Dino beef rib just dropped off the bone tender and the pork ribs were equally as good, we also had the fried fish ,chicken wings, the Mac and cheese was exceptional and I really enjoyed the cabbage and cornbread… every time we go we are not disappointed ..

The only consistent place I’ve eaten at in the year of being a resident of Georgia. Always fresh cook to order worth the wait and never had anything bad here and had not made me sick. Disappointed with the online process, as you need to have the exact credit card and matching ID on pickup. Someone was ordering food and I went from picking up to waiting 20 minutes. The portions are plentiful! The shrimp, catfish, and ribs was very good. The macaroni had a strange after taste, in which both of us couldn't distinguish what it was. Customer service could be a little more friendly.

I finally made it to Hattie Marie's. I can say it was worth the wait. I ordered ribs, sausage, mac and cheese, and collard greens. The sausage was spicy and infused with cheese. I loved the sauce and the collards and mac and cheese. The greens were tender and not too salty. I also had the cake for dessert which was absolutely delicious!!!

Ok I've been to this place twice. Once when I first moved to GA and then now. I love it!! I tried the smoked brisket with mac and cheese and collard greens. Everything was so full of flavor. The brisket was sliced thin like I like it, making it just melt in your mouth when you bite it. The sides matched the same energy as the beef, leaving me only to believe that this food was made with love. Well done 👏

The food is delicious! I have traveled almost 3 hours for this food at least weekly since the first time! I tried almost everything my first trip and I was in awe over the seafood. The fried lobster tail, shrimp, crab legs and catfish taste perfect! The sides are great, as well. If you are in the Atlanta area or planning a trip you will not be disappointed. It is a must! Excellent brisket! It had enough fat, smoke and char to do the job. The brisket does not need sauce- a sign of great brisket. Fries were good too. My only beef (all puns intended) is that Hattie's should open up for dine-in service. It has been a year since restaurants have been allowed in GA to have dine-in service. Let's get going!

After reading all of the reviews online, I thought this place was about to blow my socks off. However it didn't. It was okay. The collard greens were very vinegary and overcooked making them kind of soggy. The macaroni and cheese was okay. However the meat was amazing. I had Brisket and Ribs. The Brisket was juicy, seasoned well and tender as were the Ribs. However they forgot to put my BBQ sauce in the bag so I can tell you about that. Oh their dining room is closed until 2021 so don't plan on eating inside. It's all to go. Enjoy!

We went around 1pm on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn’t too crowded. I had read reviews about long wait times, but that wasn’t an issue. The food was excellent. We had smoked wings, pork ribs, brisket, mac & cheese, collards, cabbage, potato salad, baked beans, and corn muffins. Wings, pork ribs, and baked beans were our favorites. Potato salad was a little too sweet for my taste, but decent overall. Staff was very friendly and professional. However, they raved about the new corn muffins, but they were terrible! These corn muffins weren’t even average. We each (3 of us) took 1 bite and wouldn’t take another.

The food is goodt! I tried it the first time a couple weeks ago and I’ve had it 3 times since then! The greens…man those greens are everything! The Mac is just ok but the smoked wings and ribs, bomb! My husband and I have been wanting to try some southern bbq. We’re new to the state coming from the Midwest. After watch best food places on YouTube and googling numerous rib joints in Atlanta we decided on this one. I had the 3 rib dinner with Mac and cheese and greens. My husband had the 2 meat dinner, the brisket, 2 ribs with baked beans and Mac and cheese. Then we shared an order of smoked wings. The ribs were very tender and tasty. No sauce needed. I snuck and tasted my husband’s brisket 🤣 and it was delicious. The wings were bomb. The greens were good BUT could’ve been more tender. The Mac and cheese was ok. Overall very please and you definitely get your money worth. Will visit again.

This past Saturday was my first time indulging at Hattie Marie's and I was so impressed I went back a second time in one day! My daughter accompanied me the first time! I enjoyed the flavor of the food, the service and the smiling faces of the staff! The collards, shrimp, catfish and pulled pork were amazing! The mac-n-cheese and the potato salad were great too! The surprising highlight was the banana pudding chocolate swirl cake! It was DELICIOUS! When I went back the second time it was so my husband could taste the food. He loves ribs and was pleasantly surprised by the tenderness & flavor. Then we tasted the sausage and my goodness. We will definitely be back!

This place is far from 5 stars. The entryway to order is awkwardly setup and there is very limited space to sit and wait while your order is being prepared. My order of brisket and ribs took 25 minutes. They were out of sweet tea, out of ice and my order was wrong. The customer service was poor despite me counting ten employees in the location. You have to wonder what all of them are doing. The baked beans had meat, onions and other vegetables in them. The overall taste of the food was okay but DEFINITELY not award winning. I think they get business here because of the location. This side of town is really building up. However I will drive farther for nicer service and a correct order.

Let me start off by saying my food was good even though the mac and cheese was very salty. But I had 3 big orders and only 1 was correct. I didn't realize that one of my orders didn't even have the sides til a few hours later because we all went shopping after we received our food. I'm from Chicago and I'm only here til Monday morning and I been trying to call and no one is answering the phone so that I can let them know about my order. Plus the restaurant isn't open on Sundays.

I love the food here. I drive more than an hour for the food. Tonight was rather hurtful to me because I ordered brisket and they served me ribs good thing I checked my order before leaving. I also ordered catfish and did not get that and then I received sides that were not mine. I do not like the ill treatment I got for something they did wrong. I spent 87.00 dollars and got treated like sh..t and there were no sincere apologies for the behavior. As good as the food is I do not want to spend any more money in this establishment.

I'll start with the positive. The food was great! I ordered the 3 meats plate. I had the ribs, wings, and brisket. Sides: mac and cheese, baked beans, collard greens and potatoe salad. I wanted to try as much food items as possible. Hands down, everything was amazing! So there's no question about that.... I will definitely come back. Oh I almost forget. I had a slice of cake. I forgot the name...I think it was banana pudding cake. That cake is a absolute must try!!!!!! I loved it. My only draw back is I was ignored by the man giving out the to go orders. Maybe he was in his zone but I literally had to yell out excuse me to get him to acknowledge me. But it's not a deal breaker. I would rate the food, a 10 out of 10. Customer service 8 out of 10. Their customer service is great for starters. I ordered the Dino Rib....That rib so big it look like a Fred Flintstone rib. It's so juicy and tender you can pull it apart with a fork. It cost a pretty penny but I think it's worth the money. I'm satisfied and will be back.

This was my first time eating here. I do not eat pork so my option were limited. I ordered the wings and my father ordered the beef ribs.The mac and cheese was okay nothing to brag about. The cabbage and greens were seasoned well. The potato salad was very good. I would recommend getting the potato salad. I also tried there bourbon pecan pie which was super delicious as well. The beef ribs are expensive to me but the meat is so tender and good. I went during lunch and it was clean and the I enjoyed the ambiance.

So yesterday I finally got to try Hattie Marie's. Man the food was bomb! The ribs... yes! The baked mac and cheese...Hell yes! And their customer service was amazing! I'd give them 10 stars 😀 lol. Plus the vibes was great. We were really sitting in there for 4 hours just chilling and thinking I'd finish but ended up getting a to go box. Because yes to the big servings! I heard so many things about the restaurant never got a chance to go. When I was in the area I stop by for lunch the atmosphere was very clean the waitresses are nice. Smells really good in there I got the gumbo which was good somewhat salty but very flavorful. I got the 2 meats brisket and ribs with a side of collard greens and macaroni and cheese. The collard greens were a little salty. If you're looking for a soul food restaurant I will say that this is the place to go to.

My best friend and I traveled from Norcross to College Park just to try the food from here. It was so worth it!!! I wanted to try the half chicken but we got there late and it was already finish. Since I don't eat red meat or pork I was only able to try the wings and shrimps. My best friend had the ribs and pull pork, she said it was great...Their collard greens are so good. We weren't able to try the mac and cheese because it was finish as well. But since the food was so good my bff and I plans to travel to College Park again, the trip is well worth it.

Great food, great staff. I had the pork ribs, they were just shy of fall off the bone but were extremely tender and tasty. Though the meat was seasoned well enough to not need barbecue sauce, I did put a bit on. The sauce could have had a bit more punch but it was OK. I got the 10 PC wing. It comes with 2 healthy sides, I chose mac & cheese and collard greens. I was shock to notice they even had cabbage. (Will be trying that next time) they have a very nice variety of flavorful sides. I tasted the love in my meal for real today. College park's tasty secret! Only lost a star because of the parking its kinda inconvenient. Delayed but not denied not even that won't keep me from coming back. They even offer shrimp and catfish. But Im going back for the wings.

Please note updates are listed at the end of this review. I ordered food from Hattie Marie’s for a family of 4 online July 4,2020 at 11:00am with a scheduled pick up at 3:30pm. Upon my arrival my order was not ready, I was told by the staff member that he had no ETA on when my order would be ready. I waited about 30 minutes and asked again, still no ETA. After that a young lady short in stature with box braids, stood on the chair addressed the crowd and notified us that any walk-in orders have a wait time of 1 hour and forty five minutes. She also stated that everyone that placed online orders would not receive their orders in a timely manner and that she could not provide an estimate on when they would be ready. She also stated that they were out of chicken in which 3 of my four meals were chicken. I asked for a refund, the young lady asked for me to pull my confirmation from my email on my phone, she took my phone inside of the restaurant and returned with a receipt with the word refund written in red on it. I asked for my phone back and she went back into the restaurant to retrieve it. 5-7 business days later I still received no refund from Hattie Marie’s. I had to provide receipts and fill out paperwork for a dispute with my bank. After many trying to dispute the charge, the bank stated that I was issued a improper receipt. I was notified by my bank today that I can not do anything because I do not have the right receipt. So basically there is nothing that I can do and Hatties got $73.94 from me and I didn’t receive my food because it was never ready. Moral of this story... if you need a refund double check the receipt. NEVER AGAIN!! I will not be back. **Update- I received my online refund receipt from Hattie Marie’s 9/6/20 over a month later. Unacceptable. **Update 9/11/20 the general manager contacted me in regards to this post. She apologized and reassured me that operations usually tend to be smoother. She offered to make it right and I appreciate that. I received a replacement of food. Thank you Maya for your professionalism and attentiveness to my matter. You made me feel important. I had the opportunity to taste the food from Hattie Marie’s and it was delicious. The cake is absolutely my favorite.

I had a brisket sandwich and the flavor was fantastic, definitely Texas style. I generally love the point, which is the fattier end; that being said I felt like there was too much fat that wasn't trimmed off the outside of the brisket before it was smoked. There was gobs of fat on my sandwich, probably about half of it was fat. It tasted delicious, the fat was rendered well, and I love fattier cuts of beef, but this was a bit too much. I would still highly recommend the brisket based on the flavor. I will return and probably eat the brisket again next time I'm in town.

It was okay. I went because it has a lot of social media hype. I felt the BBQ meat was good. It was tender and nicely flavored. However sides are important to me and I was very disappointed. Add on the fact it was mid afternoon and they were already out of things left me disappointed. Not to mention I stood in line for over 15 minutes and had to leave and come back because they were only taking cash. That sign should be at the door not next to the register. I haven't been back, but I hope to give them another chance and can update this rating.

I was excited to try this place because I’ve followed them on social media for a while. I tried the Dino rib cabbage and Mac and cheese. Everything besides the cabbage was overly salty. I wish I had a better experience. My family had other meats that they said was good but collectively we didn’t care for any of the sides.

Good ribs and great brisket. Not my favorite for pulled pork and I haven't tried their chicken or turkey (if they even have turkey). The collard greens are good here. The line too out in your order is long and friendly slow but they're fast to get you your food and I've never had trouble finding a seat.

My 1st time here. Food was great as I've always heard. The only downfall was they were rushing people out of the booths when they were done eating. I understand that you all were busy, but to say "sorry yall, are you done we need this booth if you are" is very unprofessional. No we weren't asked that, but it's just poor taste to me. Other than that, the food was worth the drive from AL.

Texas style BBQ at its best. Have you heard of Sweet Heat. The ribs and sides are well seasoned and tasted great. I am definitely going to add this to my rotation. A welcome addition to College Park.

The food was Devine the Brisket was like butter. I love the fatty lean option. The Mac and cheese was good and the Collards definitely made the chart. The ribs however had a unique all spice flavor.. I don’t know if I like that or not..All in all, I’ll go back. I took my food to go because... Covid! So I can’t tell you about the atmosphere or Customer Service.

We stumbled upon this fantastic little restaurant after a long flight to Atlanta. The staff was incredibly friendly and so helpful!! Food was delicious and I left with tons of leftovers! The gentleman who was standing with a sign outside saw that I was leaving without a bag for my leftovers and ran back inside to get us one. Our lunch stop really gave us a warm welcome to Georgia and I would definitely recommend this wonderful restaurant to anyone who heads down towards Atlanta!

I went the day after Memorial Day to get my BBQ fix and I am so pleased!! I ordered the 2 meat platter with Pork ribs & beef brisket with Mac-n-Cheese, & potato salad. It was all delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection and my food was brought to my car. I'll be back soon!

I got there later in the day and they cut the line right after me. They ran out of mostly everything. I really liked the pulled pork. Not a fan of smoked wings. I really came for one of those huge Flintstone sized beef ribs. I'll go back for those. Staff is not only friendly but very helpful. I hate it when a place is successful and they stop caring about the people. Not an issue here. When something sells out they apologize. They're selling out because they serve good food. Yet, they still are so nice about it. Some restaurants staff start to act like they're all that, like they don't need you as a customer. I believe it's a husband and wife duo running the place and it shows. They're grown. No issues. Just good Texas style food.

Get there early because the lines are packed if you want gumbo when served on Tuesdays and Thursdays! Also be sure to bring your wallet because this is not the most inexpensive place to eat! Overall I enjoyed everything that I ordered from the gumbo, macaroni and cheese, greens, the dirty rice, Catfish & Shrimp! All were excellent! However my friends that I dined with weren't very pleased. Nevertheless we all know what opinions are.... So I recommend that you try it for yourself! I was pleased!

I got the add a Meat ribs with a piece of catfish, Mac n cheese and greens. I found out the ribs were pork and I wasn’t aware of that and couldn’t eat them. She gave me a side of brisket. That was nice seeing that she didn’t have to. The greens were AMAZING and I’m still craving the Mac and cheese. My husband got the catfish, wings, baked beans and mac n cheese. The wings were good he prefers fried wings and the baked beans WERE AWESOME!!!! The customer service was great and so was the food. I’m tryin to cut out meat but I’ll be back even if it’s just for the sides.

It was our first visit. Placed our online order at noon for a pickup time of 5pm and still had to wait in an hour long line for pickup. Mentioning this in case time is a real factor for you (lunch break, scheduling, etc) . I really wouldn't hold this wait time against the establishment because I'm sure the wait was due to Covid-19 protocols (number of people allowed inside) and the popularity of it. Plus, it was a Saturday evening, which is a very busy time for any good restaurant. We had a large order of multiple dinners and sides. The entire order was packaged correctly, which is saying a lot for a very busy restuarant under these circumstances. We will definitely be back as the food was delicious and most DEFINITELY worth the wait.

The smoked BBQ was alright for the most part, but I've had better. The wait was ridiculously long. Management was taking orders in the long line, but only gave a receipt for you to hold until you make your way to the register, instead of having the patron pay for the food while in line, and have the meal staff prepare it and then move along to lessen the crowd. Pricing was a bit on the high side, I've had BBQ for less and in my opinion was better, I am not bashing the place, the establishment is a great African American business, but not for me. I wish to repsectfully submit my review for my findings

It was just okay for me. The mac & cheese was definitely better than other barbecue places though. Greens & cabbage was good too. We tried both the beef ribs & pork ribs. They were very tender but the pork ribs were too salty for my liking & the sauce is more of a Heinz 57 based vinegar sauce which isn't what I like either. If you prefer a vinegar sauce & salty rib, then this might be a spot for you to try. 🤷🏾

Well, tonight I tasted one of my new top BBQ joints in the state of Georgia. I had the beef rib and felt like I was eating with Fred Flintstone. The smoke rings are real and the rub is amazing. The meat is good dry or sauced up. The brisket was moist worth just that right amount of fat to break up the texture. Prepared foods remained covered at all times keeping it bit only hot but fresh. Only issue was the like flow. Placing your order them having to double back through a crowd. Atmosphere: 8/10 Food: 10/10 Service Time: 10/10 Service Quality: 10/10 Overall: 9.5/10

I love HMB. The Dino Rib is my fave w/ potato salad and baked beans. The staff is always friendly and the vibe is always authentic. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants that good Texas style BBQ.

Traveled all the way from Florida to get a taste of this sweet bbq joint and it was worth it. Due to COVID-19 the line was out the door and down the street but it moves fast. The staff was very pleasant and accurate with the order. I ordered the 3 meat package with 2 orders of wings and pork ribs with mac and cheese and greens. I am now in my hotel ready to take a nice nap. Wew! Great food, nice portions and well worth the trip. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone.
