The young lady that answered the phone and worked the register was nice. Ordered the catfish and shrimp. It was ordered around 1p and was ready pretty quickly. It looked yummy, but for me it was a little too salty. The fries didn't really taste like they were cooked in fresh grease either.

Service was ok nothing to complain about. The food, “3 piece catfish with okra side”, was a bit off. The okra was fried and breaded very nicely, the taste and crunch were what I’d expect to pay for. The catfish from a visual stand point is appetizing, but taste wise I found myself trying to force it down. The smell of the fish wasn’t what I expected and the touch of the bare meat was different from my past experiences eating catfish from other establishments. The seasoning as hard as it is to say especially after reading the conversation they had posted inside the restaurant, was the opposite compared to what I read from literary mural. To describe the seasoning’s taste, overpowered and hollow. If I had a chance to make it different I’d use some type of red pepper to help the saltiness and if they used garlic salt I’d recommend to use garlic powder instead. Overall from my one time sampling their food , I think they used to be better but the RNG of food service just rolled low on my turn, but I believe they will better than were before not to long from now.

Every time I travel to Syrma I stop at this restaurant for my fish fix. Each visit the catfish has been fried well and tasty along with the fries. We did order hush puppies that were a little well done but also very tasty. I will continue my ritual stop when in town, thank you!

This place is nothing shy of amazing! The owner Chef La is so sweet and kind! I came to purchase a fish plate for a friend; and ended up turning around and ordering my own. The fish was so fresh and well seasoned! His attitude and mannerisms was genuine. I will def return back to order. Thank you Chef!

This was my first time trying this resturant. I called in the order and specifically said I want the 6 shrimp and two fish with the fries,hushpuppy and slaw that comes with it. And what is missing from my order? the slaw. C'mon man! I would have liked to have more than one huspuppy tho. So, putting my disappointment about the slaw aside, the meal was delicious! My son and daughter liked their shrimp meals, but my daughter said her shrimp was salty and didn't eat all her food, and I tasted that saltiness in a few of my shrimp. The fish was great and really nice sized! Next time time we will double check for the slaw. One more thing...please update the menu,I wanted the seafood boil,not on the menu,then I asked about crab legs, not on the menu and the she started naming other things that were not on the menu. That is frustrating.

Outstanding Seafood Experience ! Without any doubt great Catfish, I had three pieces, with Fries and Coleslaw. My wife had King Crab legs with steamed shrimps. A whole different level of flavor! Prices are very affordable, small eating seating area. Flavor and portions 5 stars! A place not to be missed if you are living or visiting Atlanta, Georgia. Omg! I'm so glad a relative recommended this place. It was delicious. We ordered the fried whiting taco basket and the 20 piece shrimp basket with sweet potato fries. I wish I had more money, I would eat here twice a week. It's worth the drive if you don't live in the area. Just a heads up, it's small, only 3 or 4 tables. So don't plan on dining in on weekends.

I am just a truck driver passing through, found this place close by to the petro truck stop. So happy I did! Uber brought it to me, but the food was amazing! Everything was fresh and perfect! Nothing but a smile walking to my truck with it, and Nothing but joy as I ate! I had to call my mom and tell her she needed to learn how to cook! Some of the best food I've had on the road, I have already sent pictures to everyone I know! with the caption "these guys are trying to make me cry, its so beautiful!" I had to call them afterwards, because text does not do any justice here! The happiness in my voice after eating says it all! And that peach lemonade and tea! So worth it! Sad I have to pull out of here before I can order again! But ill be back! I already got that sweet potato pie on my mind for next time! But that peach cobbler was made perfect!

Excellent food! Visited from out of town. This place was recommended by my sister. Best recommendation I've had in long time. Shrimp was perfectly cooked and loved the from scratch cocktail sauce! Had a sample taste of their catfish and will be back next time in Smyrna. Best catfish I've ever had. Love to support these types of businesses.

I've eaten many times here over the last 6-7 years and have always been pleased. It's a black owned business that cooks with love and plenty of seasoning. I am currently ill and don't want to go out and expose others, so I ordered through a third party vendor. I ordered a 6 piece shrimp and 2 piece fish plate. I was so disappointed when I got my meal and saw there were no shrimp included. I called Chef La's and Chef took my number and address and is currently preparing my shrimp and will be dropping it off at my door. Taste is one thing, but customer service like that is unheard of in this day and age. I recommend Chef La's for the food and for the unbeatable customer service. They've got a customer for life out of me and mine.

I don’t even know where to start! I’ve lived in Atlanta for 10 years and this is by far the best fish I’ve ever had! The batter is well seasoned and the fish is fried to perfection, not too hard, not too soft. The hushpuppies are real hushpuppies, not those hard fried cornmeal nuggets. The tartar sauce is real tartar sauce, not that nasty mustard sauce other fish places in Atlanta call tartar sauce. The pound cake is also just as amazing and their homemade lemonade is the best I’ve ever had, period. I’m a customer for life lol.

Great hole-in-the-wall find! We came here for dinner, and we were so happy to find a place with such great seafood. The people inside were real nice, and the story behind the place is something from a fairytale. You just feel welcomed. Then, the food comes out, and it’s absolutely amazing. Their tartar sauce and hot sauce is to die for too! Overall, great experience and will definitely be coming back.

We order from here all the time and food is ALWAYS on point. We decided to ordering catering for my daughters 1st birthday and Chef La and his wife were very responsive and easy to work with. The food was ready on time and delicious. Chef La was very personable, honest and friendly. We love the fried catfish, mac n cheese and the fried whitening. I have been wanting to visit this place for a while. I ordered the 6 piece shrimp and 1 piece fish meal. The shrimp and fish were fried perfectly and the seasoning was just right. The hush puppies were really good and you can tell they were homemade. The Cole slaw was really good also. I ordered some of the sham sauce on the side. Some of the best sauce I have has before. I will definitely be going back to visit. Once they get their health score up from a B to an A their restaurant will be perfect!

Love, Love, love this place! I usually get the lunch special 2 piece catfish and fries for $4.99. Their food is ALWAYS fresh and flavorful. I work in the area and live about 45 minutes away but I would definitely make that drive for this place. Also the restaurant gives off good family vibes. I was very impressed by Nakeia's Great customer service with taking my order and making it worth driving 15 minutes, and the warm hospitality greeting from Chef himself. So, I had a taste for a fish sandwich today and google directed me to Chef La’s. Wheew!!! when I say delicious -oh my goodness! Hot & seasoned to perfection. honestly Chef La’s is the BEST fish I’ve had in Ga. Let me not forget to mention the adorable love story of how he met his wife posted on the wall. I knew after reading it, that all the food in that kitchen was being made with love. Lol... I will definitely be returning over & over again.

Drove from Henry County to try this restaurant. Glad I did! I had the 6piece grilled shrimp with green beans, cabbage, peach lemonade and fritter... oh my! Cabbage, green beans and shrimp were seasoned perfectly🙂 didn't know what to expect from the fritter or the sham sauce but the nice lady explained everything in detail and both were delicious! I will definitely drive out there again for this type of food and service 👍🏼

Exceeded my expectations. A little weird right now (COVID-19) restrictions where the door is kept locked but they were very nice. I ordered the 2 piece catfish basket. Comes with huge fish, fries, coleslaw and buttered toast. Extremely filling but more importantly had taste. Remember to either call in advance or order online for now. ✌️

I come here for the shrimp burger w crabmeat Mayo like once a week! It’s my cheat meal it’s so good lol. Every side I’ve had is delicious especially the Mac. Awesome food, friendly service, great price. I ate at Gordon Ramsay's fish and chips in Las Vegas last week, so I wasn't expecting this small place to compare to a huge name like his. I was totally surprised when I got my food. The fish here is twice as good as Gordon's for half the price. And the selection is massive too. They have at least 5 types of fish, and the sides are great. I would highly recommend.

I love this joint and I can't begin to name which dishes I like the most. If I were forced to, it would have to be the fish and chips. The fish is seasoned and cooked perfectly and the mac and cheese is delicious. Come to think of it, the greens and the tea is also delicious. If I could rate it higher then five stars, I would. One of my favorite spots in Atlanta. I must say even though it is the south there are not a lot of good places to eat in Atlanta. Being from New York I absolutely love food that feels like its from back home. Customer service is always great and I love the food. My favorite is the whiting sandwich. I have a Father from Jamaica that is extremely picky about where he eats and after having a bite of my sandwich, he went the following day and purchased an aluminum pan full of fried whiting for the family. I have a boyfriend that will not even think about tarter sauce unless it's Chef La's.. As long as I live in Atlanta and even if I no longer live close by I will go to Chef La's every time I crave some good fish. Thanks Chef La for satisfying me and my family's Cravings!! Oh and when you go check out the story about him and his wife..It's too cute and its written on the wall!!

All of these reviews and nobody seems to be talking about the peach cobbler?! Well that's crazy to me because for Georgia being the "Peach State" you can barely find a decent piece of peach cobbler unless you make it yourself or come here! I've only had them a few times throughout the years, mainly because I cook for a living and rarely go out but, I haven't had any issues. The people seem nice enough and I can still remember the first time I came, I was so exhausted from hiking I felt like passing out but, I could smell these amazing smoked wings the chef was grilling in the parking lot and had to run across South Cobb and get some. I don't know about the fish but, if it's as good as the wings I'm going to have to get around to trying it.

Try the Shrimp or the Smoked Wings, and get the peach lemonade. The shrimp is phenomenal, I felt like was eating bbq shrimp and tempura shrimp in the same bite. Do not forget the peach lemonade. You need to try it. If you order the talapia, know that it is fried and lightly salted, and moist. It's very, very good. However, if you like a lot of seasoning on your fish, you will need to add it. Your food comes hot, so you know it's been cooked on the spot, not reheated. While we were leaving, Chef La was returning to the restaurant from his rib/wing smoker (looks really cool). We complimented him, and he was very friendly. Fantastic chef, fantastic place.

I tried this place for the first time this past Saturday and was pleasantly surprised. That tea was everything, I should have gotten 2 of them. The tilapia and shrimp was cooked perfectly. My son who is a very picky eater loved their fish!!! The peach cobbler was also delicious. I will be a regular at this place.

amazing! seriously, the food is nothing short of amazing. i read the reviews and decided to try them out because I was craving some good fried shrimp. it was so good!!! i haven’t bought fried shrimp from another place because I know i’ll be disappointed. the shrimp were perfectly seasoned, large and juicy. my only complaint is they’re closed two days a week, but I guess everyone needs some time off lol.

I have eaten here many times over the past few years. Obviously we enjoy the food. Sometimes it can be overly salty. My most recent platter of whiting. shrimp and fries tasted like somebody made a mistake and dropped the entire salt container in the batter, which is not a good taste. A more consistent experience would warrant more stars. At best its a 5 but I have had 2-3 star experiences over the years.

Update: As you can see, the owner responded to my review. We spoke on the phone and the end result was he wanted me to give them another chance and provided me with a meal on the house. I paid for a meal for my son (which he loved) and received my meal (perch, mac & cheese and greens for free) The mac was much much better this day. Flavorful, cheesy and easy on the eyes. The cashier mistakenly rang me up for green beans instead of greens which was a beautiful mistake lol! The best mistake ever because now I'm an avid fan of the green beans...they are exceptional!! Hands down the best string beans I've ever eaten. I'll definitely return for another dinner next week. I live across the street and would love to come more often but i just can't spend my money on dry tasteless mac n cheese anymore. I gave them 3 tries with the mac thinking maybe it was a bad day but no the mac sucks big time. Looks to be scraped off the bottom of a pan each time I've gotten it. The perch is DELICIOUS!! Best I've ever had! Lemonade is good but for the price maybe should be served in a larger bottle. Fritters mixed with the greens is great lol (the owner's wife put me on to that one). The owner is really friendly.

Although I got food poisoning from this establishment, I still can't give them a horrible review. I've ate here 2-3 times and never had any issues, the fish, shrimp & fries are really tasty. The other night I ordered 25 mins prior to closing so I'm assuming proper handling of food was neglected, either way, I probably will never order any food because of this trauma but the lemonades are A-ok with me. - Jazmine

We eat here a lot. We always order the fried whiting and shrimp. The tartar sauce is homemade and perfect! Who eats tartar sauce with shrimp? Me (but only from here). Anyways, Chef La takes pride in his cooking and is good at it. He's such a hard worker. We called in a last - minute order today and he made sure it was just as good as any other visit.

Great service fresh fish... The ONLY thing I'd change is I wish they drained the fish a little more before putting it in my container because the bottom kinda soaked in grease. The juice was amazing!

My bf and I were for looking for a different food experience besides chicken and burgers. we ordered via UberEats, and it was EVERYTHING! the catfish was amazing, the shrimp was superb, the collard greens and mac-n-cheese tasted like home! and the lemonade! all I could think was how i could add vodka to it and make it a wonderful drink. we will be back repeatedly.

My first time was today(4/13/19) and my goodness it'll be worth the drive coming from Stone Mountain! Man I love chef Las!, it's no wonder why their food attracts everyone. I've been trying all the best foods atlanta has to offer since I've moved here and chef Las is #1. I first ordered the sampler(3 wings, 3 shrimp, 1 fish, fries and toast) only 10$!! My money was well spent and as a heavy eater I easily got full but the taste of their special sauce on the wings makes me wanna live. Compared to busy bee this place is wayy better and affordable. This is must have!!!

Went today & everything was GREAT!! I had the 6 pc shrimp (huge) & 2 pc whiting (super delicious). My mom had the 3pc whiting basket, no complaints. All the fish, shrimp, & fries were fried just right. I also had a side of collards & they were seasoned just right. The peach cobbler my mom had she ate the whole thing. Finally leaving a review. The fried whiting is AMAZING! I have eaten at this establishment a good bit of times and its always A1. Chef LA has always been there and he is serious about his food. I am a xtra crispy kind of girl and he wasn't too happy about that but not rude either. If you know any Chef they are confident in their food and don't want to ruin it for a picky customer such as myself LOL. He is always pleasant. The fries aren't the best but the cabbage, collard and cole slaw are...Plus the whiting batter is to die for and the tarter sauce OMG. Oh yeah, the lemonades YESSSSSS. This is a hidden gem and must try establishment.

I got the 6 pc. shrimp, wing and whiting platter but I can guarantee that everything on the menu taste extra delicious. There was just enough seasoning on the shrimp to make you slap your momma!!! It was a different atmosphere the reson behind the restaurant getting started was from love. Most of all JESUS everyone knows when JESUS is in something then it can't be nothing but good. My mom and husband and myself went there this past Sunday after church. The people was friendly. The owner got upset with who ever made the toast cause it was dark just rhe way I like it. But he didn't know he insisted that they make me some more and I insisted that they didn't. It was fun and a wonderful experience in the food was good in the amount of food was shared equally among the three of us. We thank you the Talley family. Keep up what GOD put together. Their response to my post & other reviews let’s you know what to expect overall. I didn’t include every second & word of my exp bc I didn’t want my review to be soo long that ppl wouldn’t read it and get a fair heads up but since the ‘wife’ responded inaccurately I’ll give further details. I was NEVER told to not return the horrible cheese n noddled (mac n cheese). When he said in person “It ain’t that serious” I simply said “You May have wanted it to review it & confirm my Complaint and possibly show your staff what shouldn’t be served” I didn’t expect youI to take it in the kitchen and try to fix and resell. When have returning food become a safety hazard?!!! Most restaurants ESP “mom and pops” REQUIRE you to bring food back that you complain about when wanting a replacement/refund. When your rude ‘’hubbie“ asked how many ketchup I wanted I said a hand full, he went on and on trying to get me to say a number amt. HE SAID “well 10?” annoyed & over a ketchup debate I said yes. Then that’s when he that he would charge me .50 more. I said no, I’m good and that I would never pay any restaurant to give me more than 3pks of ketchup. Like a whole order of fries only warrants three packs of ketchup??!! You guys need to really retake a business and customer service class. Had I known that it was BOOTLEG ketchup I would have went without!!! You all can continue to response as if you actions are valid but anyone that reads the REVIEWS will still get the clear picture. Nickel and dimeing your customers to compensate for your shortcomings Is WRONG!!! Original post-The guy wanted to charge me for extra ketchup... They gave me all bottom, corners for the $3 mac n cheese but allowed me to come back another time for a refund or a replacement. I choice replacement and brought the old one back. After getting my replacement I told him that this (handing him) is the old one me if he wanted it. He made a scene while talking loudly...”It ain’t that serious “ I said “well I told you on the phone that I was bringing it back, if I complain that something isn’t good enough to eat it then it’s only right that I return it” He went on to state how long I held it (a few days) I said don’t worry about it, then I threw it in the trash and left.
