Greek salad is amazing. The greek dressing with it is quite tasty and it has cucumbers and feta with it that makes it different than most places. The mozzarella cheese on their pizzas are unbelievably good and the way it is made fresh with the cheese dripping off is incredible. The banana peppers topping is great. They have a create your own with as many toppings as you want and they also have 3 sizes: Individual, medium, or family. Service was so nice and attentive and the bathroom was clean.

Nice place to get a good pizza. We had a small Greek Salad and a 12" New Yorker pizza. The 12" says individual size, but with the salad it was more than enough for my husband and I to split. Both pizza and salad were excellent. Parking is easy as it's in a stip mall. Our waiter was right on top of everything. One of the best waiters we've come across and we eat out quite a bit. Well worth a try if in the area!!

We’re using the AIR Passport to try new restaurants around town. So glad 828 was on the list! We came in a Wednesday and it was 1/2 off bottles of wine. Can’t beat that. We were able to take the rest of the bottle home. While the wine deal was nice the pizza was the real winner here. Loved our Chicken Ranch pizza. Great flavors and crispy crust which I love. Greek salad was tasty too. Cherry on top was the wonderful service from everyone!

I get the 12" New York style pepperoni . Perfect for one! This is one of the top 3 pizza place in Asheville! If you are near by you should stop in for a pie! They do not do slices but the prices are good so it's good value for excellent pizza!

Our meal was absolutely delicious. We had great service, starting with the hostess seating us and taking a drink order. The waiter was exceptional, very attentive, very personable, and very professional,. My dining partner had lasagna with marinara and a Caesar salad. I had an individual pizza. we would both re-order this exact meal again. There was plenty of the individual pizza for another meal. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes good Italian food.

We got some garlic bread and a plain pepperoni pizza. The garlic bread was a little lacking and definitely had more of a garlic powder, instead of fresh garlic flavor. Way too crunchy and just didn't have the character of their pizza dough. The marinara sauce is very good and definitely tastes homemade! The pizza was pretty good but definitely could be better. The dough was the best part. I feel like they need just a little more sugar in the dough, and some olive oil and garlic mixed into the pizza. It was just a little bland tasting but not bad. Loved the fresh cheese though!

The pizza here is phenomenal some of the best I've ever had. The crust is a little on the dry side but the cheese to sauce ratio is on point. A friend of mine ordered a side of fries and boy were they delicious. Server seemed a little confused but overall did a good job for someone some young. When you're here, you're family. If I could give it a 9/10 stars I would.

The service was really quick for how crowded it was. Pizzas were great. They combined me and my friends pizzas, but resolved it and we got a free pizza. The mix up was understandable as the wait was 45 minutes and the wait line went out the door. Food was great and service was quick. Definitely grabbing more pizza next time I visit North Carolina.

We have been coming here for over 15 years, I may have even reviewed before but that's ok cause I'll never not have good things to say about them. It's the best pizza in town. They use extremely high quality ingredients and cheeses, and the pizzas are baked in a wood-fired oven which gives them a wonderful flavor. One of our favorites is Robin's pizza, which has roasted potatoes on it and they are also like the best roasted potatoes ever. Their salads are also delicious as are their dressings. The staff there is always super friendly. We miss their other location but will happily drive to Merrimon Ave. as they are well worth it. We hope they are around forever!

Visited for the first time this week and the whole experience was wonderful. The pizza was so fresh and unlike anything I've tried, it has me dreaming of the next time I can go. I get tired of the trendy pretentious places around, this place felt so worn in and comfortable, like hanging out at a good friends house. It has a lot of charm and I thought at one point "the only thing that is missing is some Bruce Springsteen" and sure enough, The Boss started playing within minutes. I was unsure how the pizza would reheat but it was still incredible the next day.

Unquestionably fantastic pizza! It was so good, we went to lunch here two days in a row and brought home leftovers. Personable and knowledgeable waitstaff. We'll definitely go back. The pizza is reason enough for a day trip to Asheville. Also, if you like citrus beers, try the local White Zombie on tap!

Without a doubt, the best pizza in Asheville. The sauce tastes amazing. The crust is perfect, crispy on the outside with just a bit of chewyness on the inside. Originally, it was named Marco's, but then that garbage chain pizza hole moved into town and forced them to change their name. This place will always be Marco's to me and my buddies... They might have changed their name, but I thank God every day that they didn't change their pizza.

This was was one of the better pizzas I’ve had in my life and Asheville. I’ve eaten at many pizza joints in my life. Price is great and basil and fresh cheese is amazing. Pizza could have been a hair thickness thicker. Also the place could be slightly cleaner around the kitchen but overall the pizza was top ranking and bucket list worthy. Service was great as well.

Really glad we found this place! A bit hard to see from the street, as it sits below street level beside Fresh Market. Really authentic New York Pizza, the crowd verifies the quality. We will definitely put this in regular rotation.

This place is great! I have been coming to 828 for almost 20 years. It was originally named Marco's and the pizza and Greek salad have always been a must have since the early 2000's. Thank you to the men and women who work so hard to make sure the consistency of food and service remain well above par. You will always be my favorite pizza.

This is my favorite pizza by far! I’ve been loving it since 1998 or 99 (before the name change). I have never been disappointed with their pizza. I’ve ate at many other pizza places but their sauce & toppings always taste so fresh. Their salads & calamari are also great. Trust me, you eat here, you won’t be disappointed!

So I'm a bit obsessed with pizza- it is literally my #1 favorite food. I've been eating pizza, Stromboli, salads and sandwiches here for years and it never gets old. The food is great, the service is great! I love the way they make their pizza with the thinner crust and globs of mozzarella with lovely marinara sauce.. Dare I say, they might just make my favorite pizza in Asheville. YUM!

Best restaurant experience we've had in a long time, and we eat out a lot! First, the service was outstanding! Sadly, poor service seems to be the norm these days with restaurants having such a hard time hiring enough people, much less good ones, but our server Brian was everything you want in professional wait service. He was attentive and helpful and also very personable and friendly. And was very willing to hang around for a few minutes after we were done to recommend other places to try in town. He was GREAT! Now for the food, the Greek salad was fresh and delicious. The pizza we had with pepperoni, bacon, and fresh mozzarella was great and very much an artisan style pizza, and not just another run of the mill pizza from a dime a dozen pizza joint. Everything and this meal was fantastic, can't recommended highly enough. Definitely a 5 star meal and experience and worth a try!

This is top tier pizza in Asheville. The crust is my favorite in town. Get a few smaller pizzas instead of a large as the smaller ones tend to be danker. My only complaint is the skimpy amount of toppings for the price added. This is why we usually go with the house specialties rather than build our own

Been going to this place for 18 years. Always good and staff is good. They've added a NY style to the menu using the same dough and sauce as there traditional. Had one of each last night and hard to choose which we liked better. Not a bad thing. NY style seems to give you more sauce and cheese. Rest of the menu is good as we've tried several items over the years. Our kids really like the calamari. Good place to bring the family, we know as my oldest had gone with us since he was born!!

Great fresh toppings and plenty of them. Cheese must be imported or something cause it is the best ever. Love the wings and salads too. Highly recommend this for real pizza.

Went with friends. Pizza was wood fired and nicely cooked with crispy and chewy crust and just the right amount of char. The Caesar salad was fresh and big enough to share. Best pizza in Asheville. Sauce is an overlooked element to a good pie, it can make it or break it. 828's is simple, like a good Italian tomato sauce should be. The mozzarella is fresh, a bit firm and perfectly chewy.The basil is sprinkled evenly along the surface and brightens the pie in a gentle way. The crust is thin, has a nice elasticity and crisp only a brick oven can provide. 10/10 experience every time. White pizza is great for the garlic and ricotta enjoyer, sausage and pepperoni for the meat eater, cauliflower crust for the gluten free, 828 family pizzeria's got a seat at the table for everyone.

When you order on the phone, you're met with friendly people. When you arrive to pick up or eat in, you're met with friendly people. Makes a huge difference. On top of that, the food is great. The pizza crust is crunchy, thin, fresh, and tasty. The dough is unique and special. It's perfectly cooked every time we order out. Great greek salads with fresh and crisp lettuce and veggies. The wings have also been great, perfectly cooked, crispy and good sauce. Very highly recommend, it's become a go-to!

The pizza is excellent and the beer selection on tap is awesome. Friendly staff and good service, their desserts are delicious as well. I would say this is arguably one of the best pizza places in Asheville. One of my family 's favorite places to eat out. Service has always been great and this is the one pizza place where I don't feel dehydrated from the amount of salt from other pizza places. We usually go for an early dinner around 430 or 5PM and there is no wait and the pizzas are perfect. The Caesar salads are always another thing we order while we wait for the pizzas which they are pretty quick to bring.

This place is really good. Came the other night and ordered a Calzone and my mom a chicken Alfredo without the artichoke hearts and they accommodated her which made her happy. I would've took a picture but I was so good it was gone before I could. The bolognese sauce is tasty also. Not to long of a Togo wait like Vinnies down the street. This was my second visit.

Hidden gem in Asheville! We have visited Asheville for years and 828 (formerly Marcos) has been our favorite in the area. REAL NY style pizza and fresh ingredients all around. They use fresh mozzarella as their "standard cheese"- who else does that? So awesome. Friendly service and a quick way to grab an awesome pizza!

The whole experience was great! The sauce was fresh, there were more than enough toppings, and the crust was perfect. Had a great convo with the two guys working, one of whom seemed like the owner. The tiramisu, his mother’s recipe, was a great ending to the meal. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Everyone is very friendly! I ordered spaghetti with marinara sauce but didn’t realize it would come with cheese on it so they aren’t particularly vegan friendly (other Italian restaurants ask if cheese is ok when you call and order a “veggie or marinara” sauce). It comes with a free piece of bread with herbs. Super quick, ready in 15 minutes so it is a good option for quick take out.

Wow, I mean, WOW. I've had New York Pizza ... I grew up on it. My expectations are pretty low whenever I'm not in New York, but I mean this is ... you know what this is? Its like New York Pizza that should be in MOMO. It's artsy...its good. Its pretty and its delicious. The flavor is awesome. We had the pepperoni, mushroom and onion Pizza. Wonderful! I was dying over the Calzone with ham and roasted garlic. I'll tell you what you have to do if you are not eating it fresh, get yourself a skillet and heat up some coconut oil in the pan then put your Pizza face down in it til you brown it a bit then turn it over until the crust gets crispy and then enjoy! This is my new Pizza place! I'm happy for them. They got a good thing going here and you can taste it!😋

Their pizza is awesome and they're incredibly accommodating to vegans. I'll usually order a pizza without cheese and throw some of their tangy kale dressing on there. The kale pizza with walnuts is 🔥 Their veggie sandwich is tasty too! Always the best New York style pizza in Asheville. Great beer selection and salads. Service is excellent, always attentive. Since the name change I feel it has gotten just as good. We still refer to utter by the old name but we all know the real and original. This is my go to spot after a weekend camping trip it's the first place I head when I'm coming off trail. On a good weekend of camping pick one up on the way out, eat well all weekend. You bust that out and next thing you know every one is you friend. Your welcome.

Well, if I was allowed only one word to describe 828 the word would be fantastic! According to granddaddiO the shroom and pepperoni is, well fantastic. We've only had this zza and it does not disappoint. If you get take out, put your pizza stone in the oven before you pick it up. The crust gets a bit soggy in transit. A minute on the hot stone, according to granddaddiO, it is one of the best in Asheville. When I have more teeth, I plan on eating a piece. Little Evie

By far the best pizza in Asheville! I am a little picky when it comes to real pizza vs. chain pizza. I have tried every pizza spot in Asheville multiple times and 828 is where its at. Both their NY style and Traditional (my personal favorite) are amazing. Calzones and their salads both are killer too. Im strictly hitting 828 for great pizza from now on.

The 18" pizza could definitely feed a small family! It was massive! The staff is all really friendly and the food was perfect. The prices are pretty standard for Asheville but it was well worth it. Glad to try this place out before leaving town didn't disappoint!

Flatbread pizza with basil is a really fresh combo. We had asiago and pepperoni on ours as well, and finished with the dessert special--pumpkin tiramisu! Service was good, and the food was really worth the trip. Haven't even left yet, but I know we'll be back!

This is a rock solid pizzeria. I'm not going to go on about New York style, or authenticity, or anything like that -- I think New York pizza exists in so many variations that there's nothing concrete to compare to anyway. It's a vague illusion. So what I will say is that Marco's pizza is several things: 1. The crust is a perfect expression of a very specific philosophy: it's glutenous and chewy but not bready and "full". It's salty, flavorful and elastic, yet it does not get in the way. To me, it exemplifies a very specific balance that bespeaks a deep culinary understanding. As the base of the pizza, it has what you're looking for in every dimension. 2. The sauce is clean, bright, and light, yet flavorful but still straightforward. It is a lightly spiced mixture and it really tastes fresh. I don't know the actual story, but if these tomatoes came from a can, I'm in line to stock my pantry. It is delicious in every way. 3. The mozzarella is a perfect match for the crust and sauce. It's in no way greasy or heavy -- it's airy and has real texture; miles away from the globby mouthfuls that are so often explicitly marketed as desirable. Again, it's a pointed decision that defines the pizza as one thing and not another, rather than attempting to turn the end result into something that resembles eveyone's idea of a pizza. These three points are what place Marco's pizza above everything else in town, and what make his pizza an absolute rival to any pizza anywhere. It's pizza with a real heart and soul, and it is magnificent. I haven't approached toppings, and the reason is that I'm not that familiar with Marco's topped pizzas. I've had them and they're good, but extra toppings never seemed to me to be what made Marco's pies shine. For me, it's always just been the pure simplicity of the three components I described above (plus fresh basil!) that drew my attention. As others have said -- great beers, great staff. I also love the Greek salads; Marco's dressing is really nice. And sure, things may take a while sometimes, but the staff is über-friendly, and you really can't rush quality. The decor suits the vibe, and I suppose I probably should have put Excellent for both that and the service, but there are a few tiny details that could be addressed so let's leave a little room for improvement. Besides, perfect is boring, and a perfect pizzeria would not be a pizzeria, it'd be a factory run by robots. Marco's is a real pizzeria, and it's as close to perfect as can be.

Went on cold rainey Friday night around 6pm. The pizza place was located in a plaza of other shops ,took my friend who is in a wheel chair. The waiting area very small, seated maybe 6 people near the door but no place to wait for us, except I found a corner next to table of diners who were really nice who did not mine us parked near thier table and water pitchers .We waited the 30 minutes until a table was ready .I made sure the people sitting at the table near us did not mind .We ordered the white cheese pizza. The oven baked crust was amazing .This is a family owned business for years with staff friendly people .There were only 2 bathrooms with 1 tolet in each one.waiting for one to open up presented It's own issues having to park next to more diners and enterence for the servers . The path to the bathroom was a little challenging but do able .bathrooms were very large and had handicap bars .Enjoyed the family feel of the restaurant. I would say if you are with anyone in a wheelchair or handicap it is a little challenging but go during nonbusy hours or make reservations . They do not have a beeper device to be able to wait in your car as an option .even if you were Not handicaped the waiting area is tiny. I would eat here again here with my friend provided we had a place reserved or nonbusy times.
