This was a fantastic experience. First time around and my wife and I chose the grill. While a bit pricy, the portions were bigger than I first imagined and the meats/vegetables were delicious and fresh. Would definitely recommend for work parties or a date night after pay day. Pros - food was delicious, service was kind and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The restaurant itself is also beautiful. Con - service was so damn fast that we got the appetizer just 30 seconds before the main course arrived. I suppose that is our fault though, as we came in during a lull in the rush and we’re the only ones to be in need of service. All in all, will be back for more, exceptionally hungry and ready for a hot pot for the second run.

Large restaurant serving out great food! We did hotpot, but the grill options and regular menu looked good too. I like that you each get your own broth to cook in, especially since this means you can try more than one broth in a visit! The Sichuan is spicy, but not overly so and the sauces are perfect to go along with your protein. Large quality portions so the price is worth it. Fairly wide drink selection for beer, wine, and sake. Staff was friendly and service was quick. Worth a visit if you want something different for a sit down meal.

Food was delicious, some mistakes were made after ordering our food but they apologized and discounted our price. They also have 3 menu types, you can grill your own food, make your own soup or order off the menu. We’ll going back to try that out.

Pretty lengthy wait for a table and for the food to arrive, but we expected that since they just opened. Limited menu options, but again, they just opened. The place was insanely busy and I was impressed that a new restaurant was handling the traffic so well. Food was excellent and the staff were super friendly.

Wait wasn’t too bad, they seem to be updating their hours on their Facebook page more often than here. Inside looks great and they’re definitely busy, the wait is definitely a long time if you want grilled meat or hot pot. Unfortunately no draft drink options available which was kind of surprising since it would go well with the grilled meat, but a lot to choose from on their drink menu. You get a lot of side dishes and plenty of veggie, the pork slices were a good amount for what you pay for, my only thing was the beef slices are way too thin. The restaurant also gets a bit hot even with the fans going. Just be prepared to wait a while.

Amazing service, amazing food, amazing staff. The hot pot experience was one for the memories ❤️The prices are good for the amount and quality of food they give you: we didn’t even finish all of the meat and took it to go. Made a reservation through FB just in case there was a wait — I recommend you contact ahead and that way you can guarantee yourself a table. Great place and would come again for sure!!

This place is awesome! After seeing a video of a hot pot place about a year ago, we made it a point to make sure we tried it when we would get the chance. After trying an Uber fancy hot pot restaurant in Vegas (min 200$ pp), it’s place is amazing and super reasonable (about 105$ for the two of us with extras and drinks). This is exactly something that AK needed. The portion was huge and definitely more than I could have ate in one sitting. I was stuffed leaving lol. We can’t wait to try the grill side next time! That sounds like something that might be fun for a small group of about 4. I would suggest getting there early as we got there around 430 after reading reviews and waited to see if it quickly got packed before opening and decided to run a quick errand before the 5pm opening, after returning not even a half hour later, it was clear it most definitely is a popular place! Luckily on this Tuesday night we were seated right away and served promptly! All of the staff is super attentive and kind. *if you’re unsure about the broth choices, milky bone is a safe and delicious bet!* *I got the milky bone + assorted meat combo+ scallops* *friend got Thai Tom yum (like hot and sour soup) broth+assorted meat combo+ quail eggs+chicken breast* Enjoy!!

First visit was a very pleasant experience! Staff was friendly and helpful. We picked a perfect time and walked right in. We tried the seafood hot pot and we will definitely make another visit and try the grill. Also ordered some poke! It was excellent! Had some oysters, also very delicious! Service was four stars+! Food was very good, price seemed fair, at least in current market. Serving size was great! I would highly recommend Yakishabu Sushi House!

There are different dining options to choose from at this restaurant and we chose the Shabu Shabu table. They brought out so much food that we can barely eat it all and it was also delicious! The service was wonderful, and the atmosphere was extremely pleasant. I definitely recommend this place. There is something for everyone!

I went on Saturday right after the restaurant opened for the day at 5pm and it was crazy busy already. The wait time to get a table seemed like an hour and the staff was overwhelmed but still very polite and checked on us anytime they could. We did the shabu shabu table and the man that served us the food on the loud silver cart seemed so excited to serve us, especially while he was teaching us how to cook using the table. The sauces were good. If I were to give a suggestion it would be to offer the salad dressing as a dip sauce for the meat. Overall good experience. Next time I'll try the Yaki Niku grill tables.

Loved it. Do yourself a favor and do half milky bone half sichuan broth for the hotpot. We also liked the sexy girl roll and the fried oreos. Generally great portions and quality. Highly recommend!!

Food is awesome. I'll try to take pictures next time I'm in. Atmosphere is nice and alcohol selection is huge. The hot pot and grill sections are a lot of fun and it's nice that you can cook things yourself. Food is fresh and good quality.

This is my fourth visit tonight with this restaurant and they have never failed me. The sushi chef would always greet me whenever I come in, and will always be thanking me as i leave, making the whole atmosphere of the restaurant more welcoming. It is pricey, but in my opinion, I think it's worth the price. They have hot pot or grill and I usually get the hot pot with spicy Sichuan (highly recommend), pork belly, and glass noodles. I am Thai and LOVE their homemade Thai Chilli sauce; it really tastes exactly how my mom makes it, which is why i keep coming back! 😊❤️ this restaurant reminds me of home, especially when I was living with my parents as the food is so similar to what we eat at home ❤️ Of course when they get busy, service can be slow (they always provide fresh food) but they always try their best to keep it up with the rush, and still provide the best services. I will be a regular to this restaurant as they have exceptional services and food compared to other restaurants in Anchorage! Thank you Yakishabu Sushi House for serving me well every visit! 😊

I can't wait to go here again it's an experience. The food is delicious and we loved cooking it ourselves. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Overall a wonderful place to go it is a little more price point then your regular restaurant but well worth it.

This was our first visit to Yakishabu Sushi House after hearing reviews from friends. The service was prompt, happy and friendly. We all had ShabuShabu and had a lot of fun observing each other mix our hot pots and try to eat without too much spillage. Many other options we'll try soon enough. It's always nice to visit new and highly recommended restaurants. We highly recommend this place. Do a search for the menu if you're not familiar with the food variety, prices, etc. Enjoy!

An Anchorage first. The concept of an individual hotpot is phenomenal. This is a restaurant that is only delicious but a fun adventure for any occasion. When you come in and see the prices it can be off putting, but do not let it turn you away. It is well worth every penny. This is going to become a favorite for me and my family.

Pros: Delicious food, gigantic portions. Cons: Disinterested staff, could really of used some guidance with the shabu-shabu. Would have ordered desert, but was afraid we'd be stuck at the restaurant for another hour. Ambiance has no personality.

Ordered online, was told pick-up between 1720-1730. Got there at 1730, food was not ready until 1810. I was given a cup of water for the extra wait. Food was good. I'll be back again to eat out.

One of our new favorites! Can't believe we waited so long to try it. We didn't have time for hotpot, but so excited to go back for it! Nicely decorated interior, we had great service and the food was delicious. We had a couple rolls, fried rice and yakisoba.

This is our favorite restaurant in Anchorage. Try the Wagyu!!! Everything here is amazing. We regularly switch between the grill and Shabu Shabu but both are well worth it. The experience is something you won’t get anywhere else in Anchorage.

So amazing! Wait times are reasonable, staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, and if you're new to the experience they help you out if you ask! The soups taste great, the meat is super fun to cook, the entree's are really good, and the variety is fantastic! Definitely something to try if you've ever wanted to try being a benihana for yourself. The grill tables are so fun, and the soup tables are such a cool experience. Highly recommend if you wanna try something new, or would like to try something again

We went here with a group of friends on a Saturday. We had heard a lot about it and were super excited to try the hotpot. It was extremely busy. It seemed like they might have been a little understaffed, but that is the world we live in now. It took a while to get our order placed. Pricing was $25-$30 which seemed a little pricy at the time. When we received our food the staff did a great job explaining the hotpot and how to change the heat settings. Everything was really simple and super intuitive. They brought out a ton of food. We could have easily split the meal. The price definitely seemed worth it at that point. The experience was so fun we were there close to 3 hours and had a blast cooking the food and socializing. Not only was this a great restaurant with great food, it was also a great experience. We will definitely be making this place a regular hang out. I will recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Went here twice in one week! So glad to have such a cool new place in ANC. Couldn't believe how amazing the inside looked, especially considering it used to be a village inn. Owner said it took eight months for renovations. The food and staff are both amazing. Thanks!

Very clean environment, really helpful and inviting staff, the food is quite enjoyable. Overall it would be a dinner recommendation of mine. If you've never been here please ask your server how to use the grill and hotpot it's worth trying. The yakisoba is my recommendation.

Delicious food! Sat at the grill table with some friends, and was impressed how fast our food came out. We ordered the pork belly and prime rib. The combo came with lettuce, onions and mushrooms and a side of rice, as well as various sauces for the meat. Overall it was an awesome experience. Will definitely plan on coming back!

Great experience dining at YakiShabu. We've come in several times, and have had great service and food every time. This restaurant is on the pricier side of things if you choose the grilling option, but being the only yakiniku restaurant in Alaska (where you cook your own food on the grill table in front of you), it seemed well worth it. We were served by Yuan Yuan a few times and she got to know us as customers. The staff have all been very helpful and friendly. If you're looking for a unique dining experience, I highly recommend you give these guys a try. Something to note, they're usually pretty busy on Friday evenings for their grill tables, so plan accordingly. Our longest wait time was about an hour and a half, but we have also been seated almost immediately on other weekdays

I have been waiting forever to eat at this place since it opened. I finally made it and I am not gonna go anywhere else. Their food is superb! You do have to wait a bit for the food to come out, but it is totally worth the wait!!!

I liked it I got the shabushabu combo it had porkbelly some type of beef and something else I don't quite remember but it was another red meat the only reason I gave it 4 stars is cause it felt like the food took forever to get to the table

My girlfriend and I went for the yakiniku (grill) tables. You have to order 2 entrees or more, so expect to pay at least $60. Price aside, you get a huge amount of food! We ordered prime rib and lamb, and had a ton left over! They give you a bunch of veggies and sauces to try with the meat, and everything tasted fantastic! We ended up taking about half of the meat as leftovers and cooked it the next day on a flat grill. It still tasted amazing. 😅

Just a wee bit more seasoning would inspire me to at least give 4 stars. Had Mongolian beef and Teriyaki chicken thighs, both dishes were bland. Chicken wings as the appetizer were actually tasty. Will return to try the grill next time.

UPDATE: I am not sure, if I still would recommend it. Last time we were there they were sloppy and prices has gone significantly up. The first review was written when they had first opened. It is sad to think that a place with such great potential would try to do their best just in the beginning, but not keep it continuously good service and food :( Alaska needs more places like this!!! My fiancè, a friend and I just drove pass it and decided to try it for the first time! What an awesome experience and good surprise. Not only the food tastes good, it is well prepared, but also the service is excellent! I am super picky with quality food, specially, asian and Yakishabu went beyond my expectations :) Big thank’s to Carter and Tony that took their time to explain everything patiently and even talk about different food and ways of trying it - thank you guys! They know their stuff and know how to deliver it. It looks like the house is busy… well, it worths the wait. We tried in the Grill Table: Pork Combo, Angus Beef Combo, Shrimp Yaki Udon and their Mix Tempura (all were yummy).

It is such a delightful and comfortable space to enjoy authentic hot pot with perfectly rolled slices of frozen lamb, steak and pork belly. Everything is thoughtfully prepared and served in the perfect condition.

IF YOU ARE EATING SHABU-SHABU OR HAVE ALLERGIES BE CAREFUL OF RAW MEATS MIXED WITH VEGGIES. We ordered shabu-shabu with chicken and there were raw fish cakes mixed with our greens. Expect to pay ~$35 per person That being said, I was surprised at the overall experience of this restaurant, the service was excellent and the food was in no way disappointing. The main draw of this restaurant is the shabu-shabu and the grill tables. There are entrees to order which seemed good as well. Overall the experience was unique (especially for the restaurants we have in anchorage) and worth going back for.

For a start I want to say I went on their second day. They did great supporting all the people coming though very well. I don't think I have seen so much food going so many directions. In addition to the sushi bar they also have kbbq and hot pot. I can't speak on how good they are because I was in it for the sushi. The sushi was bomb. The meats and veggies rolling out for the hot pot and BBQ gave me a few twinges of envy as they passed. They were swamped in people and did a pretty good job of keeping up throught our time there. 100% will be going back.
