I’ve lived on the west side for a few years and have never heard of this place. Honestly, I don’t think I can go to any other sushi restaurant because Arigato definitely takes #1 for me! I got the Sushi Imperial & Spenard roll w/ spicy tuna. Everything was so delicious, and what wasn’t pictured was the tofu appetizer, steak bento & pork bento but all were just as good! Highly recommend this amazing Japanese restaurant.

This is one of our regular places to eat. Decent prices, good food, good service. The sushi is ok and comparable to ronnies on dimond. Try their other dishes! The salmon is very well done. It's a small family run business that has been in this exact location for decades. I highly recommend them for general Japanese style cuisine. They are consistent and are here for the long haul, give them a try.

Small, hole in the wall sushi place with outstanding sushi. The interior design might be simple, but the food is great. They're usually very fast with serving and service has always been very friendly. Prices are affordable as well. Our favorite sushi place in town.

The sukiyaki was amazing! Its the perfect blend of sweetness with salt, and has a powerful umami flavour. The tofu is pretty good (i dont like tofu, but this is an exception) and the noodles were sooo good, i forgot to take a photo for a review because I inhaled half the food before remembering The yakisoba has a very nice chewy texture, the flavour is lighter in comparison to the sukiyaki The tako(octopus) sushi was good, it only comes with 2 pieces for $6 And the dragon roll was great, I really liked the spicy mayo on top At the end of the meal we were served watermelon and it was great for helping all the food settle down.

Arguably the best sushi in town. Don't let the modest decor fool you. Kang's attention to detail, preparation and consistent excellent quality is amazing. The menu selection is extensive and the prices reasonable. Kang's sushi rice--perhaps the most critical component of sushi--is always spot on--not something I can say about some of the other places in town. I took a friend to Arigato for lunch and he commented to Kang that the sushi rice was "perfect." High praise coming from my friend, who had lived in Japan for several years.

My family comes here every time we’re in Anchorage and are never disappointed. I also have to say, someone left a lackluster review about the salad dressing, but that has always been my sister and my absolute favorite part of the meal, literally to the point where I’ve tried to make it at home. It is light, tangy, and delicious!

The food there was good, better quality sushi than benihana. Good customer service, the price wasn't so steep for the food either. It would be nice to have some kind of "chef special", or a selection like Peters sushi. I look forward to coming here again though.

An unassuming little place with good sushi at a reasonable price. It wasn't exceptional but it was fresh and simple. The lady who served us was very kind. We got a little surprise dessert! What a wonderful finish to our meal.

Best Japanese restaurant in town. I've been a customer ever since they opened nearly 20 years ago. Food is delicious. Consistency is rock solid. Service is fast and friendly. I eat there at least a couple times a month and I tip generously every time because I want to help them stay in business for a long long time.

I came here for lunch and their specials and combos are a great deal. The food was cooked and prepared very well. I've eaten at places that cost way more that didn't taste as good as Arigato. I ordered the deep fried chicken & gyoza which was cooked perfectly and you could tell the chef did not rush and took their time. I will be trying their katsu don next time, too many choices! The service was excellent, don't let the outside fool you, I will definitely be coming back soon!

Great atmosphere and food. VERY traditional Japanese. Owner served us hot tea as soon as we sat down. Hard to understand her but she was very kind and helpful. We were never asked if we wanted water. I am sure they would have brought some out ASAP had we asked... just very traditional. Sushi and chicken teriyaki were EXCELLENT, delicious and fresh. I would highly recommend this place if you are interested in experiencing the Japanese culture along with top-notch sushi and eats.

The food was very good and came out in a timely fashion. The waitress was very attentive to our needs and even brought out watermelon at the end for dessert. I would give it two thumbs up. The Kaibi? that we had was amazing. It had cabbage in it and it tasted really good.

This was a delicious meal. We had been to Pho Lena next door before, and enjoyed it, but we didn't want to get stuck on one option when there is another place right next door, so we made the last minute decision to try something new. We were rewarded with a delicious meal. We had a family meal, which is pricey, but a real treat. There is a genuine Japanese feel to this place. There was so much food variety, but served in reasonable portions. Still, we ended up with potently of leftovers to take home. If you visit Pho Lena, you should consider walking across the parking lot from time to time, as well. You won't be disappointed.

Awesom menu and the people who work there are very kind. It was empty when I went there with my wife and I have to say that the soundtrack they have there is amazing. Sushi was pretty good not the best I've had in anchorage but not the worst. The menus isn't the small either so they have something for everyone. I will definitely visit again.

We've been coming here for YEARS! Great food, great fresh Sushi, and reasonable prices. My husband just tried their Beef Teriyaki for the first time and loved it!! Cooked to perfection and just the right amount of teriyaki, not smothered in a thick gooey syrup like so many teriyaki dishes these days. And our girls shared one children's dish, plenty enough for both of them. Great family restaurant!!

Sushi was pretty good. Ok value for money. The people running it seem kind, and are very charming. Not the best sushi joint in town but not the worst. The interior is kind of gritty - is sort of a positive feature really.

Best kept secret in Spenard. There's rarely a wait as this place is often empty and I cannot figure out why. Delicious fresh food that's not over-salted. The teriyaki cod is a solid winner and the side vegetable are delicious. Nice people. Delicious tea.

Quaint interior, great service, but lackluster dishes. I ordered the Katsu Don and Spenard Roll. My meal also came with a small salad and a miso soup. The miso soup and Spenard Roll were both adequate dishes and flavorful enough to be safe bets. However the salad was topped with a vinaigrette dressing that I found lacking. It reminded me of sour water. The katsu from the Katsu Don was soggy and drenched in sauce that made it extremely salty. I would not recommend that dish.

Arigato is phenomenal. I didn't even stop to think to take a picture it looked so tasty. That's okay. Because we will definitely be back again. We had the Haduken and crispy rolls, as well as a few nigiri dishes. I could confidently say I recommend each of them.

Authentic Japanese food! It was a welcome find after moving from Japan. It has a cute interior that transported us back to so many good memories. I got some sashimi and tempura and it tasted great. Would recommend to anyone needing a japanese fix.

We are in Anchorage for a few days and decided we wanted a break from the rich/heavy Alaska seafood. We chose Arigato because it had good reviews and a pretty standard sushi menu. We shared a bunch of sushi & sashimi and everything was very fresh and tasty. A great choice of you are looking for good sushi in Anchorage.

Everything was absolutely fantastic. Even the simple dishes like miso soup and salad were crisp, clean, and done extremely well. The udon noodle soup was perhaps the best Japanese noodle dish I've eaten in my life.

I have known and followed Dae long before he and his wife opened their own Restaurant. The reason for this is because he is a good man and personality but more importantly he is a fantastic Sushi Chef, maybe the best in Anchorage. His wife is your hostess and waitress and one of the most wonderful ladies I know and she goes out of her way to make your dinning here great. This is my favorite restaurant in Alaska. Dae introduced me to the SMT and it is the absolute best that I have ever had. Try It! Try Them!
