We bought an electric mower in June and two of the batteries stopped charging after one use, an issue known as "sleep mode." Ryobi replaced them, but Home Depot told us to save the batteries for Ryobi, and Ryobi didn't want them back. The manual had instructions that batteries in sleep mode could be pulled out of sleep mode. We just hadn't gotten around to it.
Two days ago, one of the batteries melted and started spewing smoke everywhere. It was terrifying, but the fire department came out and took care of the battery and told us to put them in a bag and get them to the Environmental Depot ASAP. The guys at ED were professional, helpful, and friendly. Plus, we were a little early for our appointment and planned to wait, but they took us in early. Highly recommended.

I was finally able to assist my 80+ year old parent with the removal of many, many years of various household hazardous waste. The couple were from early years of depression, so they saved everything.
I lightly commented to the S. Burlington staff, that I had a large collection of materials, as well as one item that was questionable. Two of the staff took this well, the third however, apparently the person in charge, did not. He began to lecture us about bringing items in more frequently and commented that if another car pulled up that we'd have to move out of the way, into the sun at 92 degrees. Understandable...IF there were other cars, which there were not.
He continued to be dismissive, unprofessional and discourteous. I was NOT treated with respect, dignity or simply kindness. THIS IS A HAZARDOUS WASTE DEPOT, this is where household items were to be collected, this is how we safely removed items from an older persons home. This is NOT a place for judgement, condescension or a disdainful attitude. He was extremely unprofessional and frankly, rude.
The other two staff were kind, thoughtful and completely helpful. Maybe the "leader" can act more like the others? Then, I would feel more comfortable returning the site more often.
Please address others with respect, you have not walked in their shoes.
