Considering that we were first time home buyers, she made sure that we were comfortable with every piece of information she had to share with us (for first time home buyers) and she also shared her knowledge of the different areas we had considered moving to. She did most of our house viewings for us because we were out of state, and when she wasn’t available for a specific time, she made sure to have one of her trusted assistants/agents assist us with viewing. She put together a great contract, with exceptional recommendations of what we needed to do, which helped us secure the top spot for our house, which had 14 offers. Even after purchasing our house, she kept in touch with us to make sure we were happy with the purchase of our new home. They were phenomenal. We didn’t really know what we were doing at the beginning so we spoke to a couple of realtors from a couple of different companies the first week or two to get acquainted with the process, the companies, and our local options. Some realtors were really impatient yet oxymoronically unattentive. Others had too many irons in the fire to even know what was going on let alone who with. And each of them wanted some manner of exclusivity contract condemning us to work with someone we barely knew for punishing lengths of time. It was really discouraging. We were a little skeptical of the bigger companies because we thought they would be more of the same and so they were among the last we spoke with. However, we were pleasantly surprised that they were actually significantly more welcoming, personable, and actually less restrictive than our alternatives. It was awesome that we did things in the order that we did because we had full appreciation for the substantial improvement in professionalism and responsiveness we got too. Someone from the Huffaker group reached out to us and was very flexible with our busy schedules to set up an introductory sit down detailing the home buying process including expenses we can expect, commitments we have with our bids, rights we have when interacting with sellers, and the closing process in general. We got asked what features we like which is pretty standard for search engine purposes but we also got asked the general style and appearance of a home we like for the first time which was really satisfying because you sort of dream up something but you never really expect to get to relay that vision to someone else. Our realtor, Kristy Harris, was awesome. She worked with us by email over the week reviewing some houses and their availability over the coming days. She had us send a final selection of houses that we liked to her and she booked a time slot for all of them on a Saturday morning dedicated to us. We ran through 7 houses in a row back to back with a carefully plotted out route that she had prepared. We even had to take a detour to get my wife’s purse after she mistakenly left it at one of the previous houses. Kristy was super patient and understanding throughout and toughed the gauntlet of a day with us. She also reconvened by phone later in the day to discuss the prospects, quote an estimate on how competitive she thought each house may be, and ask us if there were any that we wanted to formally bid on. My wife fell in love with a house that we desperately wanted to win the bid over but didn’t want to feed the machine with some wild over bid. We just gave a ceiling price that we thought the home was worth to us and she took care of everything else. We were able to get our dream home well below the ceiling price we set and she even successfully negotiated a few other things that we thought were impossible in the infamous seller’s market of today. The whole organization was also very attentive throughout the closing process. After we closed on the house Kristy was also able to hound the selling realty firm into promptly removing their sign after we closed too (as apparently some will leave it up as long as you let them get away with it for advertising). The Huffaker group and Kristy both even checked up on us a couple weeks after moving in to see if we needed anything. We have been super pleased with them and would strongly recommend them to anyone in town looking to buy a home!
