Focus has been our close partner in all things real estate for a number of years. We moved to JP in 2010 with the intention of staying here long term. After several years in our 3 bedroom condo and after having 2 kids we knew we were on track to outgrow. Randal was willing and able to hear about our needs, show us several properties over a couple years time and when the RIGHT ONE, a 2 family fixer upper ripe to reno into a single came on, just one block from our much loved current spot, we jumped. Not only did Randal help us negotiate a fair deal, he and his team managed turning over our rental properties at the time of purchase and then during the pandemic, but then stepped up in a meaningful way when it was time to sell, move into the 2 fam and start the renovation. Randal helped us create the 'buy low, sell high' scenario we really needed since our home is our most significant asset - and we needed proceeds to fund renovation. When snafu's came up, the FOCUS team were always helpful, level headed and fair-minded. The negotiations buying and selling had our best interests at heart and we could not be more proud of our new home. Randal's upbeat and realistic approach helps anyone keep a level head and we know they are invested in the neighborhood given how often we can see those orange signs up OR the team handing out ice cream bars to the little league baseball players they sponsor.

You’re welcome to read our full-length review in the paragraphs below, but the short of it is this: FOCUS went above and beyond our expectations in helping us find a home. Just saying they were “great” doesn’t do them justice. They are a wonderful team—passionate, smart, professional, detail-oriented, and kind. We can’t think of enough superlatives to describe just how incredible FOCUS was to work with. If you’re even thinking about buying or selling a home, reach out to them. You won’t regret it. Here’s why we recommend them so highly: After having our first child in 2017, we set out on a house hunt in Jamaica Plain. We tried using “big-name” realtors first, and found the experience impersonal. Unsurprisingly, we came in second or third on half a dozen offers over two years. In the winter of 2019, we knew we needed to take a different approach for the spring 2019 housing market. We met the FOCUS team, by chance, at a home they were selling. We were immediately impressed by how professional they were as they showed the home, and how nice they were to us as prospective buyers. After the showing, we reached out to them to ask if they would be our buyer’s agent for the spring house hunt. FOCUS proceeded to do something in a couple of months that the other realtors we worked with couldn’t accomplish in years —they helped us find our dream home. Throughout the process—from putting in offers to closing—they were overly generous with their time, and their advice was always spot on. But most importantly, we always felt like they genuinely cared about finding a home that would be right for our family. We particularly liked FOCUS’s team-based approach to helping us find a home, and making sure we had everything we needed even after we closed. The founders, Randal and Erik, and a pleasure to work with, and they have built a team that is simply superb. Even the aspects of buying a home that might not be as much fun in some cases (like all of the details between having an offer accepted and closing) were made genuinely enjoyable because they have such a nice transaction manager (thanks, Meg!). Our hope is that you don’t even need to get to the bottom of this review before you stop reading and get in touch with them. But if you did spend 5 minutes reading through this, you should take another 5 minutes and reach out to them.

FOCUS was fantastic, and Randal was a picture perfect professional from first meeting through close. He met us at work, walked us through the process and let us know what to expect. He gave us tons of opportunities to explore online that covered pretty much exactly the kinds of places we asked to see. We went through the options and helped him hone in on what precisely we wanted. Then, his picks to show us were spot on: we put an offer on the fourth place we saw. When it came to process, we have to say, FOCUS is totally hep with the modern world (we put our offer in on line from our phones from the oyster bar in Grand Central Station). Randal's connections--for mortgage, legal, home inspection, etc.--allowed us to close in about 45 days, so clearly FOCUS knows the ropes, is ready to move. Even on the day of closing, he was there, happy, fun and in our corner to make sure we had everything we needed. Honestly, we had a little anxiety going into the whole home-buying process. Rightfully so: it's a big decision, it's a lot of money; and for most of us, it doesn't happen very often. We had snags, of course, like so many other stories, with lenders and details. It ended up, however, being a lot less pain, a lot less stress and a lot more fun than we ever thought it could be. That's not all because of Randal and FOCUS, but, we're pretty convinced that most of it was. We can't recommend FOCUS enough.
