Reviews of West Seattle Health Club
Hunter Thomsen
This is a great gym, especially if you want to swim. I can really only speak to the pool area, but I was a member for 2+ years and swam laps two to three times a week. The lockers were clean, the pool area was clean, the hot tub and saunas were well taken care of. Like any gym, it can get busy depending on when you go. I mostly went on the cusp of peak hours and I never had trouble finding a lane or sharing with someone if needed. The staff was also incredibly friendly. I joined during the back half of COVID as restrictions were being lifted. I always felt like they took them seriously and put everyone health and safety first. I'm moving out of state and cancelling was straightforward. I thoroughly enjoyed being a member and highly recommend checking it out!
Christopher Lancaster Parisi
Legit gym with 3 levels gender specific areas, HIIT TRX room, very large cardio, machine, free weight, cable area. Pool I hope to try next time. Clean and welcoming.
Try them out with a 7 day free pass.

Has all the amenties you'd want in a gym, but one major problem: no towel service. This is especially troublesome in the summer where the AC isn't able to properly cool the building, and after doing one set I'm completely covered in sweat. Am I supposed to just grab the paper towels they leave out as the only option to wipe equipment/myself down with? Seems like it'd be more budget friendly to just buy towels and wash them than buying endless paper towels to be thrown out.
EDIT: They’ve since added towel service! Hooray! Next up… a basketball court 😉
Alec Lindsey
This club has just about everything for everybody. I'm a horrible self-starter when it comes to exercise, so I take advantage of the group workout classes and have seen a noticeable improvement after only a few weeks. Only thing I wish it had was a basketball court.
Brian Williams
Great local health club. Never seems to be overly crowded and the staff is great. I love the steam room and free weight area. Only thing to improve is the cable rope attachments, they are all worn out.
Dominic Montello
This gym is great. It's super clean and has a steam room. It's well worth the price!
Sarah Cardenas
We went here for one of my daughter's friends birthday party. We really enjoyed our time there and are now considering a membership. We did a little tour while we were there and were impressed with the amenities. It's also fairly affordable compared to other gyms. The rock wall looks like a lot of fun, so I'm looking forward to trying that out. The staff were really friendly and helpful too.

I was attracted to this gym initially for the large variety of group fitness classes and they are really great. They have large rooms so you never feel like everyone is on top of each other or your trying to fight for a spot. They also have a women's only weight room which I appreciate. The main room that has all the ellipticals, free weights, etc. Is very large so again, you never feel overcrowded or waiting for a machine. They have great variety of machines that are up to date. There is an indoor pool and sauna. Large, nice, and clean locker rooms. Overall there is alot to do here and it is all nice, clean, and well maintained. I'm glad we decided to join!

Love the pool, sauna, hot tub combo and that it is still affordable with those amenities. Definitely helps me get through the winter months!
Candice Orfao
Love this place! I moved to West Seattle last year and this spot is a highlight for sure. Lots of equipment, super friendly and helpful staff. The pool, hot tub, and sauna are amazing! I find myself using the women’s only room a lot as well. My only complaints are that I wish they provided towels like every other gym I’ve attended (and not for an extra fee if they implement this change), and of course the RV/tent city surrounding the building. As a young woman I don’t always feel safe going there at night by myself due to the rather unpredictable characters that lurk around; their presence is not benign. When driving home one day, I almost had my car hit by an RV being driven by a woman who was clearly under the influence of substances. Though to be fair this whole situation is more a reflection of systemic issues and not the health club. Unfortunate though. With regard to the cancellation policy - I’ve seen many complaints but can’t personally speak to it as I haven’t needed to do so yet. Hopefully they will make their process more accommodating though as it does give me some worry. Still, the benefits far outweigh the negatives! Highly recommend going here.

Clean, open spaces with tons of equipment for every need. Lots of variety when it comes to cardio equipment as well. The pool is big and they offer family swimming every weekend and on various evenings during the week. Also what comes along with your membership are fitness classes that happen at convenient times during the morning, afternoon and evening, along with showers, changing rooms + lockers, a climbing wall, and a cafe. I also get a discount for being a student and working for Providence. All the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend this gym to a friend or family member for sure.
Okay Becky
Great gym! They have a little bit of everything and everyone is friendly. Only downsides are they only have three squat racks which are the most used area whereas other equipment often sits unused, and their gym radio plays too much Taylor Swift so if you forget headphones, your workout is going to be a little rough. But still a great gym!
Agustina Cartagena (Astroseeker)
a fantastic gym, especially for the price. There is a women's only room, you can use some of the studio classes if they are empty, lots of classes included in the membership, and the pool is great and doesn't feel overly chlorinified. And PLENTY of exercise equiptment, and they have punching bags!
Definitely recommend

Wonderful to have so many activities in one place: pool, climbing wall, space for kids. We attended a birthday party here (fun kid chaos) and do swimming lessons here on occasion. I’m deducting a star for: limited locker room facilities for swim lessons and mind-numbing tiny parking spaces. Our minivan is over the white line in both directions with sliding doors open. Message to management: you need to widen your parking spaces… please!
Johnathan Arriaga
Best gym I've ever been to. Great facilities, locker room, classes, and staff. Top-notch all round with low lighting compared to other gyms.
Jacob Blackmon
Joined when I moved to Seattle in 2015 and by far has the most equipment of any gym I’ve been to in Seattle. I had to take a break when the bridge closed, but I’m back even with the extra drive because of the people and facility! If you’re looking for a trainer, ask for Zach, he’s great!!
Michael Woodward
Everything you need under one roof. Huge gym, women’s studio, child care, pool, sauna, steam room, friendly staff. The Aqua Fitness “regulars” are like a family and watch out for each other in and out of the pool. I was out of state for two years and was not happy with any gyms while I was gone. Could not wait to get back to WSHC! I don’t always agree with some of the management decisions, but overall this is the best gym in the PNW!
Diamond Williams
Excellent zumba classes. Chely and team are always fired up. However I do not like looking at the outside when on the treadmill where people have unattractive rv's parked outside like tent city. Its nasty and trasy they should have them removed.
Joshua Christensen
Really enjoy this gym a lot. They stepped up their already fantastic cleaning game for Covid and I always felt like I was in a secure space when I went in during the pandemic. Great equipment. Friendly staff. Its a joy to work out here.
Rachel Tenerelli
There's always enough equipment. The staff are very nice. The classes are challenging and fun--shoutout to Chinmayi for yoga and Bollyworks.
Dennis Williams
Hidden gem. I’ve only been once. The relaxing spaces could be better thoughts out but it seems like there is plenty of space to get in a workout, heat therapy in hot tub or sauna, pool and then workout with free weights or even Kettlebells!
Ben M
A great gym with friendly staff and excellent safety procedures during times of covid. Love this place! Almost docked one star because a few of the treadmills and bike machines have wobbly belts or janky seats and pedals. Easy fix though.
Willy O
I have been going to this gym for over 10 years and though it has gone through some ups and downs and management changes bankruptcy Etc I love this gym. current manager/owner has taken wonderful steps in brightening and cleaning and freshening up the gym it's beautiful it's awesome and I am very pleased to be able to work out there.
The people who work out there seem to all be very friendly and low key. I've worked with a personal trainer for a little over a year now and through the covid-19 open and closing mandates have been challenging but have had awesome experience.
Communication has been fantastic with knowing what's going on with covid-19 and the opening and shutdown of the gym. Owners and staff have done an amazing job keeping us well-informed and working through it all during Covid.
Robin Ennis-Cantwell
Hands-down the best gym in West Seattle. I was a member for many years, but decided to leave during "the troubles." Have been back for about a year now and can say confidently that they have done a 180 from the previous owner. It's always clean. When things break they are fixed promptly. Classes are varied and for all levels of fitness. They still have a separate workout room for women. I see negative reviews about the friendliness of the front desk staff, but they are always wonderfully kind and welcoming to me and to others I see checking in and out. With the complaints about cancelling memberships, maybe there are some issues but it sure sounds like some people just didn't read their contracts and are now screaming "unfair." The policies are there - if you don't like the policies or don't want to comply with them, don't sign up. Jeeze. Pluses: full size pool, steam room, sauna, hot tub, large locker rooms with many showers (with shampoo, soap, and conditioner), hairdryers, bathing suit dryer, ironing board and iron, towel service (extra one-time charge). Great local business worthy of your support.
Courtney Duhaime
Great gym. Lots of classes, beautiful fitness center, pool, and sauna. Only bummer is the caravan of sketchy RVs lined up around the outside. Keeps it interesting I guess.
Brian W.
I really enjoyed being a member of this gym when I lived in West Seattle. They implemented a work out app that provided a calendar and the ability to set up exercise plans to reach goals. It was very impressive and the hard work they put into it was apparent. Gym management was very kind and thoughtful when I ended my membership, inquiring into my perspective on how things went for me there. Criticisms I have are that late evenings, staff sometimes didn't keep up on towels, and the bucket under the swimsuit spinner overflowed all the time. Other than that, it was a worthwhile, positive experience. I achieved great results with my regimen and credit it to the app which provided a visual monthly representation of attendance, which instilled a feeling of accomplishment. Jason was my assigned trainer through the app and he gave his insightful perspective on self-image and attitude which, upon reflection, remains a valuable contribution to my life even now. I faltered due to some bad decisions, but he was there to dispel shame and promote resilience. I hope it's still up and running and if you're a member, consider subscribing to the app. Hopefully the fee is reasonable though. Thanks for the memories that reinforce a healthful, life-long habit.
Ken Fulton
Took my son for swim lessons and now I am a member. Good hours. Club kept clean and I get a lot of use out of the weights along with pool and steam room.
Karlee Charlton
I’ve been going to the WSHC for over a year now, and it is hands down the best gym at the most affordable price. Three floors of swimming, climbing, classes, and equipment. Membership comes with unlimited fitness classes and they now have a premier fitness studio if you’re looking for a more boutique atmosphere. Everyone is friendly and helpful and the classes have gotten me in the best shape of my life. Can not recommend enough!
Jorge Orozco
Great staff and location. Tons of different equipment and workout areas.
Nityia Przewlocki
I LOVE this place!!! Very spacious, always clean, courteous staff, friendly vibe among members. I have been using this gym for ten+ years. (It went through a rough patch with prior owners, but **now they have everything dialed in and running super smoothly**). There is something for everyone- pool, steam/sauna, fitness classes, two floors of workout space, lots of workout "tools". I HIGHLY recommend West Seattle Health Club.
Dave C. Prosser
Since the new ownership this gym has done a complete 180!! The service is exceptional, equipment is brand new and freaking AWESOME. It's never too crowded and there's no wait for machines, the pool area is second to none .... & now with a brand new redone sauna. HUGE pool, and the icing on the cake for me is a kids club which my 5 year old daughter LOVES..
Thanks to all the staff for all they do ...
Henry McCary
Excellent workout Gym...friendly coaches and clean facility.
Michael Agosto
Awesome club would definitely recommend to any and everyone.
Amallia Alba
They didn't have handicap access for the pool and kids can't swim unless it's family swim time. Smoothie Cafe was amazing and the lady was so helpful and cheerful
Jason Gordon
Joined this gym in January - good facilities. Like the large locker room, swimming pool, hot tub and steam/sauna. Gym areas have decent equipment and never feel overcrowded. Sometimes parking can get full.
Nicole T
I've been looking for a new gym in the area and compared WS Health Club, 24 hour fitness and LA Fitness. Hands down West Seattle Health Club was the best. The gyms are large and spacious with virtually no wait times for equipment. The pool is large so less chance you'll have to share a lane with multiple people. The classes are the biggest highlight - far more offered than any other club. LA fitness has the short term 'new' factor going on as it just opened up, but this gym has more equipment options, including virtual stationary bikes. There is a large rock wall free to use after passing a safety belay check. Customer service has been great. Pleased to have received a discount through my husband's work, so check in with the front desk as they offer some discounts to various groups. There is a lot of space to work out, so If you want to rub shoulders with other people in tighter quarters and go to the gym for more social purposes then the other gyms might be a better suite. If it's more about workout options then this gym is far superior.
Deborah Krier
Plenty of machines and equipment. Pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room are well maintained and almost always available for use. The facilities manager is amazing! When things do break down, repairs are timely. You almost always see the maintenance staff at work on something, from repairing a machine to painting the walls.
Shannon Gallagher
Such a wonderful community of people. Very low pressure to have the perfect body here but great support from other members as well as staff to be healthy! wonderful group classes and lovely lap pool. I have never experienced such a great "neighborhood" community vibe from a gym like I have from WSHC. Highly recommended :)
Jelena Juric
This place is pretty basic and clean. Better for individual workouts than group classes. I used to work out at the Community Fitness which specializes in group classes so I have a pretty high expectations when it comes to classes. I hope the gym hires some better instructors.
John Era
Many years as a member, my back pain has been so much less irritating because of the pool, hot tub and steam room or sauna to cope with the pain issues. Really thankful!!!
Kirsten Carter
Great staff. Plenty of space, weight and cardio machines, and weights. There's even a women's only workout room for shier female gym-goers
Lyle Chevrette
Nice place, locker rooms and showers are clean. They have lots of classes though some are only midday so not able to take them. The one thing I wish they would do is clean the yoga equipment. The mats smell soo bad.
Daniela Bailey
This is the best gym in West Seattle. Great facilities, parking, giant pool, sauna, rock climbing wall, women's only room.
They also count with a really cool lounge area where they serve wine haha.. ok that's a little counterproductive but why not?
Zainab Salihu
Another great gym in Seattle.
saba nikkhahmanesh
Nice and flexible facility with awesome amenities.
Dev DuRuz
Beautiful pool, Clean locker room, great swim - 45 laps 1.25 miles.
Ginger Pearson
Cleanliness is great! Staff is friendly. Variety of work out options is really good! Wish they had a True stretch machine, but super happy with this place overall!
D D
Love it! They recently added a massage therapist, I Wish they had a facialist or esthetician
John Hereth
Now is the best times to enjoy the club. Few people to contend with. Large open spaces plus a huge pool. Life is very good at the West Seattle Health Club.
Sierra Campbell
I loved this place while I was a member. Really sad reason why I stopped going, but the manager gave me a hug and great encouragement when I spoke to her about canceling my membership. She was fantastic and I'll never forget her kindness!
Alicia Moreno
I wish they had a punch card or something like that…20$ per day pass is a bit excessive if I’m just interested in going swimming once or twice a week…
John Lehr
Love West Seattle Health Club, if you are looking for a gym to workout at, do yourself a favor and sign up with West Seattle Health Club. Their staff is super nice, and their equipment is brand new!
Irina Anthony
Great gym! Clean place with lots of equipment and classes.
Zachary Rasmussen
Nice place to workout in. But they force you into an expensive yearly contract. It's a luxury gym and only worth it if you commit yourself to going often
Greg Wilson
This is far and away a better club than the LA Fitness up on Alaska. It's about 5 or 10 bucks more, but it's a better space with better equipment.
isabella smith
I love the TRX and Interval classes! Also the swimming pool/sauna/jacuzzi is a great combo!
Christina inSeattle
Fun and friendly staff. good selection of classes to choose from daily. Glad I joined, wish I had sooner!!
Daniel Luebke
A great value and they seem to listen/care about the community that uses the facility.
Robert Goulet
Nice gym, good vibe. Large and complete. Pool, climbing rock, classes, woman's gym, childcare, weights, machines, pretty much everything for multi level workouts.
Hanbit Chi
They have gym, treadmill, workouts, yoga place, bike place, and swimming pool. Also they have rock climbing setup but I've never seen any one use it.
Alvin Harkey
I love this place. Polite staff super clean. And most of all it's all inclusive everyone's welcome. Best club in town.
Charlie Anthe
Nice gym. I mainly use the pool so I can't speak to the regular exercise and weight equipment.
