I have been a member of Planet Fitness for 3 months. This gym has everything we need with great equipment and it’s clean. 5 star to the entire staff at Ala Moana. They have been amazing since the first day we joined. Kind, honest and always helpful. Well Pleased.

Just started going to this location recently. I believe that this gym is in a great location and for that it has great potential to get better. Better machines but mainly, more machines would be a great addition. I understand that the place is not huge but with a new or improved layout of the floor, space can be made for more equipment. There is a lot of people that come to this location and it gets very busy most of the time. This situation means that there is a lot of waiting around for machines to be avalaible. In regards to the staff, I think that they can be more welcoming when greeting members. The facility seems to be pretty clean so I do have to mention that. I hope my rating will change for better in the near future.

Today we visited PF located in Ala Moana, I must say this gym is kept high and tight. Well stocked with cleaning supplies and 99% of the members are respectful, as they wipe down their equipment after use. Today I witnessed Jennifer working hard cleaning the workout equipment, not just a courtesy wipe down but an elaborate detailed cleaning to all workout machines. I watched her elevate each and every treadmill to clean underneath the machine! This gym has alot of pride and it shows. Front desk is always very welcoming upon arrival and departure. Thanks again PF for keeping members safe and the gym clean. Keep up the GREAT WORK !!!!!!

Facility and equipment are clean and well-maintained. Staff is courteous and helpful. No high-pressure sales, no chatty, judgy, or intimidating trainers. Most importantly, minimal socializing, flirting, and horseplay on the part of members. For introverts like me, who already generally know what to do, it’s the perfect workout environment.

Good place to train better then Kahala for sure. The staff is way better workers are more kind and friendly and not judgmental at all. Quality services and good equipment. Would suggest this to anyone that wants to be around good people and great staff. Thank you !

Equipment is rusty and loose bolts due to none maintenance, just a simple spray of WD40 and wipe off excess and light attentive will do the job a long way, gym small for the amount of people looking to work out in this location, causing lines just to access equipment. Perfect location by far!

This is a perfect example of’ “you get what you pay for”. Cheap membership but this place is packed. The bathroom smells like wet dog and it’s not the cleanest gym even though it’s on the newer side. Be ready to wait for machines. It’s only 1 story and is really small. The staff are really nice and there’s no personal trainers bugging you. But for me personally, it’s not worth the crowd and body heat that the A/C can’t handle.

Visiting the island for 3 weeks on business and coming from a high end $160 monthly membership “Lifetime Fitness” Diamond membership. I can honestly say, I hesitated to choose Planet Fitness. I was quickly impressed with the customer service,… Flora, Chad and Scott were amazing…Just super awesome. 🙌🏼 The equipment availability id a 4 star, but over all very good. I was also very impressed with the included massage!! You seriously can’t beat this gym… you really get a lot for what you pay! I will say, this is not a get huge bodybuilder gym which makes it a perfect place for those looking to begin their workout journey and even light body building.

Busy. Pretty Cheap monthly plan. I think you get the same work out walking and trying on things at the mall. parking is available... its not always close by. Riding Bike is the Best option.

I’ve visited around a dozen so far. Some are good, some not so much, overall a good value. This one is not quite as nice as others but it’s understandable since it’s expensive real-estate and the weather leads to more corrosion/rust. Still worth it though

Glad this is here - but it’s very, very busy I’ll take a conveniently located PF over none at all, but the space is small for the demand. Only 3 smith machines, no open floor space to speak of for body exercises, and some machines are in need of replacement or repair (rubber handles torn off, squeaks, loose cables, etc.) I ended up going twice and had to really fight for a bench for free weights and couldn’t get a smith machine for love nor money If you’re touristing around like myself and have a car with plenty of time, consider a different location just so it’s not so many people competing for limited resources Nice staff. Clean location. Just super super busy for the available space

This is a great location. Facilities are solid as all PF locations. Very clean and everyone has masks and is wiping machines. EVERY person at the front desk has been nice each day over weeks. Manager addressed one situation that came up VERY well. Super impressed and any time I am in Honolulu will be very comfortable coming here - 30 year old man

Gym is decent and staff is great but the people who workout here need to seriously learn gym etiquette. It’s common to see people planted at machines, on their phones, scrolling social media, texting, watching movies, posting selfies, fooling around with friends etc.,, They will often times hog a collection weights while not really using them. Many face-palm moments to say the least…And lastly, what’s up with people wasting so much paper towel and the chemical spray at this particular location??? …”climate change” isn’t a thing anymore or what? smh lol

Overall price is very reasonable for a gym. Affordable for most people even on a limited budget. Out-of-order machines are worse than expected. I am slightly annoyed that machines are not kept up to standards, but I understand the covid restrictions on their profitability. I'm hoping maintenance will improve as restrictions are relaxed. I would recommend this gym to family and friends

We used this gym for the week we were in town and it was an easy process to sign up and the cost was reasonable for the short time, which is essentially the monthly fee. There are a lot a machine and only a few racks of free weights but still a great place to maintain a work out when traveling.

Overall the staff is friendly. Gym equipment is in decent shape. The gym is clean. However, there are too many cardio machines vs weight training equipment. My visits range anywhere from 7 AM until 3 PM and each time I go approximately 20% of the cardio machines are used while 70% of the weight training equipment is used (mix of free weights and machines). The squat/bench machines are always being used and I’ve never had the chance to use them. The 30-minute circuit section is barely used and should be expanded as a regular weight training section. I’ve cancelled my membership and doubt I’ll ever come back unless major changes are made. It’s too bad because the space is fairly large; it’s just not utilized effectively.

So I went to join Planet Fitness today there was a long line of customers waiting to get in but I wasn't discouraged. Next I figured I'd call to make an appointment because of the COVID19 and I didn't want to wait in line because it seemed like I would be there for an hour. I was pleasantly surprised to speak with a Representative over the phone and she came to the door to welcome me. Finally she gave me an IPAD to fill out all my information to get enrolled afterwards I downloaded the planet Fitness app and received my barcode....Simple Easy Fast

Came back because I havent been going to the Gym for awhile and I had a few issues going on with my membership. The front desk people had greeted me, and made me feel welcome. Leinaala had helped me restore my membership with no problem in minutes. Her customer service was excellent! Very attentive, and helpful! As my first time back, I would say that the staff seems like they have been diligent as far as maintaining cleanliness.

They're finally open. The FIRST Planet Fitness in the state. Used their private standup tanning bed for 9 minutes and got a good burn. The staff is friendly and it wasn't very busy around 3pm. The lunk alarm needs to be set off on whoever is behind the walls of this place hammering and drilling stuff in Target.

Good equipment. Need a sit down calf raise machine, several more Smith & plate loaded Leg press machines. This would solve the crowd issues as well as explaining to members that the equipment is not lounge chairs & to dismount after use , therefore, other members can actually use the equipment.

I've always been nervous about going to the gym. I enjoy working out and lifting weights but I'm pretty self-conscious around other people. Wanting to boost my confidence and improve my health was a huge motivator for me to actually sign up at a gym. And then there's Planet Fitness where I actually feel alright about being around others while exercising. Mostly because it feels like other people there are in the same boat as me. I don't really feel like anyone's being judged there. At least not a lot. Also it's $10 a month and that's hard to beat lmao

You’ll be greeted by the staff the moment you step in! The place usually gets busy when everyone’s getting out of work after 5pm but you’ll get your machine with a little wait. The staff keeps the paper towels well stock and sanitizer bottles filled, there’s always two bottles in each station. And there’s always one near you. The floor is always clean and you’ll see the staff sweeping and keeping the areas clean. Locker rooms and bathrooms are clean also.

My first time going to the club here! It was about 9am on a weekday. With the distancing of machines it was very busy. In my opinion, there needs to be more room to stretch and do ab workouts. That was always full. Multiple times I went to get paper towel to clean my machines but they were out. I waited 30 minutes to use one machine… but if you just want a cardio machine there is plenty. The spa here is awesome. It’s warm and clean. The locker room could use some attention, wet floors all over and hair in the shower. The staff was nice, they seemed short staffed so gotta give them a break. I just wished I saw more staff going around to keep things stocked and cleaned. I literally saw one guy sweating … pouring sweat on a bike and he just walked away. I was at the club for a long time… and it wasn’t cleaned. I’m excited for the one in Waianae to open! Maybe that will help! But it is a cheap price for a gym and good hours. Either way still a god deal but I suggest bring hand sanitizer to each machine before and after then shower before leaving

This gym is definitely a smaller gym than most. It only has three smith machines and it does get very busy so you will need to wait. Cardio did not seem too packed but the weight area did have a lot of people. Way better than a hotel gym but make sure to come with time! Bathrooms were very clean, floor around the gym was very clean, and front staff was friendly.

I have been going here since the opening and I’m impressed. First, this place is clean, clean, clean. I am including a picture of one of the employees cleaning. They clean all the time. Members are very good about wiping down the machines, and that makes me happy as well. They have tons of machines, free weights, and structured work out spaces. The bathrooms are well-equipped with showers, places to put your stuff, and they are clean as well. The staff are friendly. I only have the basic membership as I’m not sure how much I would use The amenities of the upgraded membership. But whether you’re paying 10, 15, or $20 a month it is well worth the money. It is reasonable. The buying out of your contract is reasonable as well, only $59. This is a far step up from other fitness clubs.

We have been with Planet Fitness for about 15yrs were so glad that it finally came to Hawaii I gave this review a 3 because they finally got the tanning bulbs in so very happy about that but for some reason, there are always a couple of employees that don't like opening the door to let me in & I try not to ask but the doors are very very heavy Anyone says not just me but the last 3 times going the manager was working I don't know what I have done to her I always try to be polite but she doesn't like me & she doesn't want to help me I am disabled I have had 4 back surgeries & 2 neck surgery and for now all I can do is use the tanning bed some other employees say she's just like that not very pleasant if they had ADA doors, people, with a handicap can use this facility please help. Thanks

Cheap membership but with good quality!! A lot of my friends went others gym thought other gyms would be better since a bit prices. BUT they all wanna come back to planet fitness!! My friends said it’s way clear at planet fitness. And staffs are more nice and helpful. I’m been with planet since the day I lived in other states. It’s been great!!

I would give it a 4 or 5 but it seems that the place is understaffed. On several occasions, I have experience multiple stations be empty of paper towels and/spray for sanitizing. And the "Crowd Meter" is completely useless. It is NEVER accurate so traveling to the gym based on its reading is misleading. But the staff is always friendly and the place is relatively well maintained.

Honolulu Door-to-Door Pick up and Delivery Service

Red light therapy! Access to affordable red light therapy is why I joined Planet Fitness. If you will permit me to explain red light therapy as a lay person I will offer you my vague understanding. Red light therapy uses part of the light spectrum that does not tan or burn but instead promotes circulation and healing. There are a few places around town of varying quality. The bulbs have to be changed often BC they lose a teensy bit of effectiveness with each use. Without that you're just paying to sit in some light for no benefit. When I go to the best place (on McCully) my skin is warm and flushed at the end if the 20 minute session in a tanning bed (again, no tanning). I pay attention to immediate results bc I do not want to fall for a gimmick. At PF there is a different system in place. The sessions are 12 minutes long and you stand in the closet like unit, so it is not as comfortable. Yesterday I went to PF after taking a break for several days from my favorite place so I could see if the machine at PF worked. My answer is, I think so, though not as dramatic as I see when I go to the place on McCulley. I will continue to attend. It is affordable here, $20 a month whereas in other places you have to buy the package to get $10/ session! Also I like the 24 hour weekday access. I am using the red light at PF as a supplemental treatment for some injuries Ihave. When there's a wait due to COVID occupancy restrictions, the wait is outside and I have never waited more than 20 minutes. What can you do? I have never waited to access red light once I am inside. As long as PF keeps on top of changing out the bulbs frequently, I will be totally committed. Granted, this is not their focus but if more people knew the benefits, it could really add to their business in my unsolicited marketing opinion!

Staff is very friendly & the gym is always clean, but I wish they were really open “25/7” as they advertise. They always close early on the weekends. My suggestion would be to change our key cards to sensor ones, where before entering the gym you have to scan it for the door to open, allowing only members in. Therefore the employees don’t have to work the long hours of the night shift. Anytime Fitness does this! Then maybe only close early 1 day a week, for cleaning purposes.

Staff is nice. Occasional Homless being gross in the locker room. Pleanty of equipment. Just Hard to use the weights sometimes because it's overcrowded. If you're not asian or local prepare to get dirty looks and get judged in a judgment free zone. The only planet fitness I've been to where tank top lunks are everywhere. The Instagram model clout chaser types are also annoying. Most of the people take themselves way too seriously 😒 in a soccer mom gym

The staff at this location are friendly and keep the gym and men's locker room clean. There are a decent number of free weights but the number of machines are lacking and often busy. There are plenty of cardio machines that don't seem to be heavily used. My only issue is the number of machines and a number of them don't provide a fluid motion when used. Note: the entrance to this Planet Fitness is on the ground level behind Target, facing the parking garage.

First visit...So far so good. I reserve the right to change my rating after I've been here a few times. Sign up on line was easy. For the (Black card) membership fee of $20 per month and no contract, I don't think I could be disappointed. They do have a $10 per month membership which is great deal. At this time of day, 3pm, it's at about 1/3 to 1/2 occupied. We'll see how this goes in a month.

Overall compared to the PF's in the states it maintains its quality. 2 downsides that are minor would be no chargers in the outer lockers like most locations have. The stretching area is ridiculously small. Overall good experience.

If you are from another club make sure you have your barcode ready or have your account number. I had to call my home club to get this info as I didn't have my barcode handy. Other than that club seems kinda small for a city of this size. There were alot of people working out and masks are mandatory at the time of this post (9-17-21)

Aside from this place being really small to the amount of people who come through (sometimes have to wait around for machines and free weights in order to use), everything else is good. The staff maintains the place well. It is clean and all the machines were in working order when I visited. It is situated in a busy area in town so finding parking can be tough. I just parked in Ala Moana parking lot walked over. There are stores in walking distance from it if you want to pick up an energy drink, protein, or another drink for the gym which I found very convenient.

Great rates. Clean locker rooms. Showers could use some work... But show me a public women's shower without hair in the drain... Extremely friendly staff. The only thing I wish this gym had was a towel service... Pick up a sweat towel, body towel, whatever, and toss in a bin by the door when you're done. I had never been to a gym without this, so it really surprised me here. I hate lugging towels around. But this drawback is overshadowed but the great equipment and clean facility.

I got the black card lvl. I love the hydro massage chairs. They also have tanning and red light therapy booths. The gym isn't too crowded when I go around lunch. The classes that they offer on weekdays are fun and motivating. And surprisingly there was only me and 1 other person in each class. Ive had my membership for 2 weeks and go every other day. I love their motto "no gym intimidation". Waaay cheaper than 24hrs at $21 month. So far I'm loving it.!

It can get super crowded so sometimes I have to mix up my workout based on what is open. But you really can’t beat the price. The staff is great. Free classes are also a huge benefit. Overall I highly recommend to anybody who can spare $10 a month.

Friendly staff. Great if you like cardio machines (I hate them) and terrible if you like free weight or CrossFit type lifts. Not a single barbell bench or squat rack - just 3 smith machines that can be used for bench / squats etc. 3/4 of the gym is taken up by cardio equipment leaving a scant 100 sqm or so for lifting even though 80% of the people in the gym are there for the weights. After covid, could easily remove half of the cardio stuff since every other machine as a sign saying “practice social fitnessing” ... lame. In general a poor design, outdated layout, and lack of useful equipment make this a poor excuse foe a gym. But, for $10 not sure it’s possible to do better sadly. Lame 😒

Didn't set of the grunk alarm or whatever. Lol! I'm just glad the gyms are open again. Friendly staff, and they really go around to keep cleaning up the place. I like how the people are cleaning up their machines after use, like how it should've been anyway before covid times! Don't just rely on the workers to clean up; clean up after yourselves. :)

Great staff they make me feel at home here. This is a Judgment free gym so to call people homeless if they can afford to pay for their membership they’re considered to be a member just like everyone else we have enough rules and judgments in Hawaii keep that kinda stuff outta this gym please. As well as profiling, and judging people if they’re a black card member or not, this is an affordable gym for everyday people they may not dress like you or look like you but they pay the black card membership. The staff here does such a great job at everything they do from keeping the place clean to accommodating every member to making sure everything is going smooth on a daily basis I never had a problem with the black card amenities. The gym is fine the way it is. Leave it be. Aloha to Planet Fitness on a job well done keep operating the same way you’ve always been operating you’re a success because of it. Aloha

For a small time fitness person, I enjoy the self explanatory machines, tanning, hydro-massage beds, etc. Not so much massage chair tho. Felt beat up afterward. There is no personal training to my knowledge, staff is kinda, just there. Often assign a tan or massage incorrectly, cleaning a little 'under done'. BUT, you just can't beat the location AND the price! I'm nocturnal so wish Friday and Saturday were 24 hrs. I'm at the age I'd rather go to the gym than the bar! But we don't expect the youthful staff to be! Thank you Planet Fitness!

The front desk staff is super helpful and energetic. I love coming here now to exercise and I don't feel "awkward" like I did at the other gyms in town. The price is very good too. Definitely worth it.

I work here, I transferred here from Planet Fitness Fairbanks in Alaska. The management team here is pretty awesome, will get you trained up pretty quick. The staff is welcoming, knowledgeable and willing to answer questions that members may have. A ton of equipment for the community to come in and use at such a low price.

Always clean, broken machines get fixed, friendly staff. They could do with a little more core work/stability equipment, but for like 15$/month, 24hours 5d/w.... you honestly can't beat it.

The staff members are all friendly and helpful. The place is kept clean and the atmosphere is welcoming. Although the place is clean, be sure to clean your machine before (and after) you use it because I have noticed people using their sweat cloth or not cleaning their machine at all after use.

Mid post covid-19 they did a real good job setting up the equipment to keep our distance from others, the sanitizer stations your touching it so thats a small issue but touchless pump and sprayer aren't cheap. The social distancing kinda not being followed but thats cause we're social animals and they not policing the crowds err clusters of people. But still overall it feels safe enough to workout.

Switched from 24 Hour Fitness to Planet Fitness. It had all the equipment, weights, amenities, and more that I needed. Not open 24 hours, but open pretty reasonable days and times. Busy during certain hours of the day, but I go at 4:00 AM and it is not busy at all. No one really pay’s attention to what you do. Which there was a fountain to fill up your water bottle. It is pretty clean.

Gaming Culture

Has everything you need to get in shape and helpful staff. The pricing is the best thing ever. They don't try to rip you off. It's $1 initial sign-up fee then $10 per month. That is almost the same coat as Netflix. All in all planet fitness gives you what you need to get in shape and the cost is very cheap.

This was one of the most crowded planet fitnesses I have ever been to, but it was back in January, so that might have been the new year's rush. I thought that it was a bit cramped and not laid out super well, but it has basic equipment and the membership cost is low. The staff here were super helpful and friendly.

Overall, this Planet Fitness is good. In general, it has everything that you come to expect from a Planet Fitness. An abs area, 360 area, a lot of cardio equipment and a floor of machine weights on one side and smith machines and bench/leg press machines on the other. The showers are good with solid water flow and overall, my experiences are good. This gym tends to get busy very fast so I would recommend coming in before 0700 or coming in early afternoon. Essentially before the AM and PM rushes. My chief complaint with Planet Fitness in general is the lack of weight machines vs the number of people that use them. If you're heavy into cardio then this is a great gym. If you're heavy into weights, you need to make sure that you come during the less busy periods otherwise you can expect to be performing your sets with others.

Not bad for a cheap gym. To be honest, it has more people that sit around and be on their phone than working out. Thats my biggest pet peeve in any gym. If i have to look on my phone, i have 5 secs to look at it then resume my training. I observed people being on their phone in a machine for more than 10 mins, i leave hoping he/she finishes up his/her workout but nope. He/she still there be playing with his/her phone and not working out. Maybe you guys should have a rule that people must not hug a machine while theyre on their phones.

Great location and parking in mall. Worth $10/month. Limited free weights. Limited stretching space, no yoga/exercise room. Open discrimination (on a national level) against hardcore gym people They actively discriminate against male tank tops, members with large water bottles, in plain sight on their "lunk" sign, which is basically name-calling and a form of bullying. Find a lunk? Report someone with a big water jug and they will sound an alarm in front of everyone. Isn’t that hypocrisy? They say "judgement free," yet they judge? Oh what times we live in..

And grabbing the free weights and working out right in front of the free weight racks 3 inch away from the mirror preventing other people from grabbing weights around them I can't believe the selfishness of some of these incredibly thoughtless people . Planet Fitness should have a rule no cell phones on the workout floor you go there to workout not to cruise around on the interweb texting people we're not there for that one day I saw some guy sitting reading a book. He was reading a goddamn book sitting there monopolizing one of the benches dammit pisses me off so damn frustrating total apathy exhibited by everyone concerned. Planet Fitness needs a manager to walk around and scold the children. You want more? people take up that one single bench there in the men's locker room splaying all their crap out I mean I don't even see them doing anything with it I'm thinking what is this another garage sale here all kinds of crap strewn across the bench preventing anyone from using it

I will only mention why I choosing 3 stars (and not 5) 1. The ladies bathroom should be checked/cleaned more frecuent. I have visited the place in diferent time frames and I had the same feeling. 2. During the weekend the place closes quite early for a gym. Those are the days in which people usually have more free time to spend at the gym. 2 or 3 more hours would make a difference in my opinion. 3. The stretching area is very small.
