Reviews of Miles Above Fitness
Miles is an extraordinary coach - he goes above and beyond the basics of "fitness." Miles inspired me to have a positive outlook on life and never give up. Thanks to Miles I gained 20lbs of muscle, wake up with a smile on my face, and enjoy long walks with my golden retriever (Miles also shared about how a dog can promote positivity in our lives). I highly recommended Miles!
Miles is an amazing holistic trainer and helped me strengthen both my mind and body. Prior to working with Miles I was doing the same routine and not seeing the results I wanted.
Over the last two years I wanted to learn how to surf but didn't have the muscle groups or foundation to take it on. Miles helped me developed new patterns and habits from stretching, to breathing, to focusing/preparing the mind and created a custom strength training plan over the course of the year. My goal was to become more flexible, loosen my hip joints while strengthening my core, leg muscles and overall balance to give surfing my best shot. I now feel confident surfing in Santa Cruz or Hanalei Bay with the foundation Miles has helped me build.
I highly recommend Miles to help you achieve your best self. He has certainly helped me achieve mine!
I highly recommend Miles; he has supported and guided me in so many areas of my life. We have been working together online for years.
I am a father of 4 beautiful children, a loving husband, and a reliable friend.
On top of that, I am a seasoned entrepreneur who keeps me very busy.
I was recommended to work with Miles a couple of years ago by a closer friend. It was one of the best health and fitness investments I have ever made. Miles has held space for me to learn and apply an approach that works for ME every single day. I know he has my back when it comes to my health, wellness, and fitness. He is very reliable, patient, and is a pro at listening to whats is going on.
He is capable of problem-solving and supporting me in creating real solutions. His background on how the brain operates has helped me understand how to manage my unique nervous system to show up as the best version of myself each day is valuable for me, my family, and my relationships. I am so glad that I continue to work closely with Miles.
Miles helped me create time to care for myself effectively; each hour I spend with him is critical.
I've had such a wonderful experience working with Miles during my strength and conditioning sessions with him.
I will start by saying how hard it is to find a trainer that truly cares
about your well-being. He guides you in a way that doesn't come off as pushy or commanding. When I was struggling, Miles was patient and kept pace with my limitations. He also motivated me when he knows I was still able to give my best effort out.
Also, the facility caught me off-guard because it didn't feel like the other fitness centers that I've been to. The genuine kindness, positive energy,
and passion that Miles brings radiate throughout the gym. As a result, it creates such a friendly and cheerful environment. You can feel it by seeing the interactions of other people. You can definitely tell that people enjoy being in this place.
Overall, my experience with Miles is bar-none, the best I've had. I highly recommend Miles for anyone that needs physical help, have any fitness goals, or just the desire for a healthier lifestyle.
You will not regret it!
I strongly recommend Miles to any person (especially busy professionals) looking for a personal trainer that respects and diagnoses your capabilities on a daily basis and optimizes your exercise routine to maximize neurological, mental, and physical health.
My experience with Miles as a trainer for the past 12 months has been overwhelmingly positive. Miles is a detailed and supportive trainer that genuinely cares about improving your overall health by thoroughly understanding your physical, neurological, and mental capabilities in order to create and guide you through an individualized exercise regimen. Miles created a supportive and structured environment with clear goals to help me transform from a relatively inexperienced and physically unfit individual into someone with proper technique and a strong physical core. The emphasis on proper technique ensured that I did not strain or hurt myself as we gradually pushed my body into a more rigorous routine. Exercising with Miles not only improved my physical fitness but also improved my sleep and gave me more energy throughout the day. Most important, Miles was constantly adjusting my workout routine to focus on my personal capabilities and areas where I needed to improve. This was evident when I had the misfortune of experiencing a painful foot injury (completely unrelated to working out with Miles) which made it difficult for me to walk and exercise. Miles focused in diagnosing the sources of pain not just in my foot but in my back and neck, which resulted from walking with a limp. Miles developed an exercise routine to mitigate foot pain while making sure the I maintained core strength and exercised contralateral muscle groups that I was avoiding using as a result of foot pain. Consequently, I was able to experience less pain and recovered my overall physical capabilities quickly once the foot injury healed.
Miles is a fellow movement trainer and wellness coach who I've known for some time now. He has a uniquely thoughtful approach when working with his clients - one that addresses the whole individual and helps people improve not only their fitness, but also their overall experience in life. His work is truly impactful and the relationships he creates shows his genuine concern for the well being of others.
Miles is a great trainer. As a two-time Division 1 National Champion and former professional athlete, I've had the privilege of working with many different trainers over the years. Miles really takes the time to address the specific needs of each individual client. I would highly recommend working with him if you want to improve your performance and overall well-being. Thanks Miles!
I work in the tech industry, and I was a flat-out workaholic who hadn't taken care of myself for years.
I felt stuck in auto-pilot, not knowing where to start. Even if I put what energy I had into my health, wellness, and fitness, I just ended up feeling worst, in pain, and sadly at times hopeless.
I needed a real break from my stressful and demanding lifestyle, so I decided to take some time for myself and take a vacation to Hawaii.
Which led me to one of the best decisions/ experiences of my life; as much as Hawaii was a significant change of environment for me, the real blessing was working closely with Miles during my stay in Hawaii.
He listened to me and held space for me. In the short amount of time I spent with him, he met me where I was mentally and physically. He guided me to address my nervous system needs with real solutions and a host of other valuable tools and practices. Much of what he was sharing was new, but I always felt like he wanted me to understand, resonate with it, and make it my own. I was amazed at how much Miles knows about how the brain works, which led me to understand my body's pain. I did the work, and my pain didn't limit me anymore.
I still see miles via online coaching and training currently. We meet a couple of times a week. After building a great framework around my health, wellness, and fitness, I am now in such a better place. I appreciate having him as a part of my journey.
Thank you, Miles! See you soon!
Miles is great to work with. He's been quite patient yet persistent with me. I'm over 50 and before I met Miles I was a slug and gaining weight. I didn't like the way my clothes fit me and my self-confidence was slowly declining. All I was doing for exercise was taking the dog for a walk. I had been an athlete in my earlier years and I wasn't used to not being in shape. Miles was up for this challenge. Although I told him "no, I'm not doing that", he found alternatives that fit me. I'm on a path to take me back to my comfortable size and weight thanks to Miles. I've met my goals and I've added yoga to my exercise routine. Before Miles, I felt too self-conscious to try yoga again. He's built up my confidence and now I work out 3-4 times a week. A big improvement from just walking the dog every now and then. Thanks Miles, for taking care of me!
Before working with Miles, I had always tried to figure out fitness on my own through group classes or Youtube videos. While that often worked temporarily, I always found myself injuring myself accidentally or not understanding what I was doing completely. Since I've started working with Miles, I've started to see the importance of working not just hard but smart. He is so great at explaining concepts from his wealth of knowledge about holistic health and wellness and I find myself learning something new every time I work with him. He is not what I had imagined a personal trainer to be like -- He is a million times better! I always leave a session with him feeling refreshed, inspired and listened to. He isn't about just throwing you into a tough workout - he really cares about what he does and prioritizes optimizing your experience to be suited to you specifically. I encourage anyone with the opportunity to work with him to do it immediately! He is kind, positive and genuine and so is his partner-in-crime, Alyssa! You will feel so lucky to know either of them! Highly recommend!
I’ve been training with miles for the past 8 months and he's helped to vastly improve my physical health and overall well-being. I'm an active runner and surfer and like to think that I don't need training. But when a back spasm had me sidelined on the couch for several weeks, I turned to Miles to redress some of the pains I was experiencing. What's been unique about Miles's approach is that we spend time on fitness and strength, but also on addressing tensions in my neck, jaw and even vision. These exercises have allowed me to do the things I really love to do, rather than waiting for pain to go away. I highly recommend Miles!
I am a disabled veteran. I suffered a lower back injury which has caused me chronic pain for the last ten years. This injury has prevented me from following through with a long term workout regiment because I usually start to develop a more intense, debilitating pain shortly after starting. However, working with Miles has forever changed my life for the better. I have now learned how to avoid strain on my back while still being able to strengthen it. I've only been working with him for about three months, but in that short time I've regained mobility, had a noticeable gain in core strength, and had a dramatic reduction in chronic pain. I've had other professionals try to help me with my condition, but none have been as effective as Miles. I believe the key difference is Miles' attentiveness to what I say and his expertise.
Miles has great attention to detail regarding strength conditioning. I have known him for years and can easily notice that his heart and passion goes into fitness. My daily routines consist of workouts he provided and would recommend others to his business.
Before I met Miles, I had a pretty typical engineer lifestyle. I drank around 10 cups of coffee a week. I had a sporadic daily routine: going to bed after 1 AM sometimes, frequently skipping breakfast, or sitting all day in front of screens. I woke up in the middle of the night many days a week and had almost constant tightness around my shoulder and chest, both of which were also causing emotional stresses. I knew my energy level was low, needed to reduce my caffeine addiction and stress level, and wanted to change my lifestyle, but didn’t know how to approach it.
I signed up for a group exercise membership with the intention to improve my health and energy level in general. Despite obvious improvements at the beginning, the daily group exercise sessions introduced additional muscle pains and did not improve my energy level very much. I usually felt beat instead of chilled or recharged. Sometimes, I had to drink a good amount of coffee in order to perform well during the group exercise, which did not bode well looking back from now.
I have been training with Miles for more than 6 months now. The overall experience has been great. My athletic intelligence has increased by an order of magnitude, thanks to Miles’ coaching. I quit coffee completely, but still regularly feel energized throughout the day, especially after workouts. I enjoy workouts nowadays because I know how to finish daily routine at a higher energy level, feeling recharged. I have a much better lifestyle now, with better sleep and a better diet. And above all, I now feel more confident about the trajectory of where my overall health is heading.
I enjoy working with Miles. He pays a great deal of attention to my form during workouts, which is particularly important for setting up a sound foundation for my exercise habits and routines. The diversity of drills makes each training session interesting, and sometimes challenging. Miles is easy to talk to, and his dog very friendly. He is a great professional trainer with a lot of knowledge, and my experience has been quite pleasant and very valuable.
When looking for someone to oversee your health, I find it very valuable to have someone who's not only professional (shows up on time, is attentive, replies to messages, keeps up to date with recent research), but also someone who genuinely cares, is there to listen and work through potential obstacles that surface in a given wellness program. Miles does just that and beyond. He is attentive to form, making sure that each movement completed is intentional and safe, which results in more progress, more enjoyment and less obstacles. He listens, and I mean really listens to you. In my opinion, what better way to succeed than to have someone there who gives you the space to be understood and reassured that everything is okay. He does a great job of reminding you that he is there to support you in any way he can, via his encouraging follow ups. His time spent outside of the sessions checking in, emailing or even visiting in person, is unique to this field. It shows that he's continuing to think of you and your success well after the 60 minute session. He's more than what you would expect out of a personal trainer. He's a caring coach, an awesome supporter and a focused professional. If you get the opportunity to work with him your life will be changed: you'll walk away knowing what it is like to have support, encouragement and strategies on how to further navigate your health. You'll learn how to better eat, move and live in a way that adds meaning to your life. I would highly recommend Miles!
I highly recommend working with Miles for correcting injuries, maintaining healthy habits, and excelling to reach new fitness goals. It has been extremely productive working with him for me, and I am a runner, surfer, and do a variety of other sports every day.
Miles started working with me when I had multiple injuries: achilles tendonitis, a hip flexor strain, and a shoulder/rotator cuff injury. Miles did a lot of troubleshooting and walked me through many different drills, exercises, and assessments that helped to pinpoint the right type of regimen to help correct the problems at their source. He was always able to explain the reason for each of these different activities and recommend new ways to expand both my physical and mental abilities related to fitness. It revealed to me lots of habits I had not even known I had developed over the years that were counter productive. Now I am back to running, surfing, paddle boarding, and other sports full time in just a few months of working with Miles. I also have started to develop more healthy life-long habits I know will benefit me long term. My goal is to be able to do these activities as long as I can, and Miles is helping me do that starting now. Thank you Miles!!!
I'm a software engineer in my early 30's who was suffering from chronic fatigue, in the sense that I felt tired all of the time in a way that was becoming debilitating for maintaining good work and personal relationships.
I decided to try getting a personal trainer since I didn't exercise that regularly and thought my fatigue could be connected to that. Through my office gym I was connected to Miles, who worked with me twice a week in one hour sessions, and also enrolled me in a year-long online program called Precision Nutrition.
The PN coaching program was great. Working with Miles, I developed a regular, and progressive, weekly exercise regimen, and I also permanently lost 20 pounds (when I say permanently, I mean it happened without any kind of sacrifice or psychological stress of some sort, it just gradually trains you to eat less in a way that after one year-plus is still my eating behavior. I actually feel sick if I eat as much as I used to now, it's kind of shocking...)
All of this success and I was still feeling exhausted, like I had a small store of limited energy that I could only use on one thing and then feel terrible for the rest of the day. The quality of that limited energy had improved greatly, but it was still severely limited. It was Miles who determined that the root cause of my problem was a sleeping issue. It sounds obvious in hindsight but I really had no idea. I didn't get great sleep but it wasn't like I had insomnia, so it never crossed my mind.
The great thing about Miles is he matches your level of interest and curiosity. Miles not only gave me suggestions for improving my sleep, but also recommended books and encouraged me to look at the evidence around me on what was improving my sense of well-being. I ended up going so far as to get a CPAP device, which at the start was a drastic improvement, it felt like I was cured. Later the quality started to fall again, but it was thanks to Miles' coaching and a book recommendation from him that I was able to determine I had a combination of mouth-breathing and positional sleep apnea (if I sleep on my back I snore and can't breathe well, if I sleep on my side I'm fine.) Boom. No more PAP machine, and I feel better than ever, with energy that lasts all day.
Miles is like part scientist, life coach, exercise trainer, and nutritionist all in one package. He works hard to personalize his approach for your well-being, and I owe him my gratitude for making me feel like a healthy, normal human being again. Thanks, dude!

Miles is a colleague of mine who I respect and cherish for his personality and vast amount of knowledge in things beyond the physical. I came across his brand and knew he was the type of trainer who cared about making a difference and that is exactly what you'll feel upon working with him.
