I absolutely loved this class !!! Mike is energetic, REAL, authentic, & very very professional !!!! He is very smart & he knows his stuff !!! I can’t tell you how exciting it was to find an instructor like him !! He has so much prior experience and education that makes him a PERFECT instructor !!! He doesn’t sugar coat and helps us understand with real situations and acting it out for us visual learners !!!! 7.18.21 me & my mom graduated from his class and I expect to have my entire family and friends train with him. !!!

This class was excellent, I highly recommend for everyone to take it. Very informal, real and knowledgeable. Hands on was excellent for me, hand usage every meaning you needed to know about the firearm was given. Attending the gun range was my first time ever going and using a firearm but the help from Mike Brown I was able to score 30/30 listening learning and most importantly focusing. Safety as it’s best. I’ll definitely be taking more classing in the future.

Plain and simple and if want to be well trained in getting your CCW and life lessons you must take this class. Mike is a great instructor in and out. Fair warning though check your feelings at the door because this is real life honest training. Also bring something comfy to sit on because the chairs will keep you awake.

I want to say that I love love love taking mike brown carry and conceal class. I honestly can say taking his class opened my eyes to a lot about guns, violence, etc. I overall loved his personality and how he was able to connect with people like me and others who may be new to classes like this. I know that the course is only 16hrs so we can only learn so much but I can honestly say that I learned a lot and was able to even open my eyes to some people situations, like police officers and I got to understand some of the stresses they go through and how to handle myself if I’m ever put in a situation that can cause me my life. Mike I want to say thank you for helping me overcome my fear of shooting a gun I needed that. 16hrs was not a lot but I can tell you that this class was one of the most valuable classes I have took so far in my life and I’ll be definitely taking more classes from you. Overall this class was live, fun, very entertaining, helpful, valuable, exciting and very clear and to the point. I think all of these contributed to a very successful and wonderful class. I really didn't know what to expect from this class when I first decided to take it, but I can say that taking Mike Brown class was very informative, organized and well worth the price. I've heard others describe their conceal and carry class with other instructors but I can most definitely tell you that I don't believe that they received all of the important inforrmation abouts guns and how to protect yourself from legal situations. First of all great class, great instructor, great method. I will not say this class is not for the thin skinned because I believe NO ccw class should be for the thin skinned. Mike will try and trigger you. I believe that is smart. If you are easily triggered, impatient, unable to maintain your composure, and combative while attending a class to carry a concealed weapon maybe you should not carry a concealed weapon 🤔. He is overly qualified and very knowledgeable. I will definitely recommend his class to anyone that is looking for ccw/armed security. The few dollars I paid (lowest price around) were more than worth the money. Keep doing what you do, how you do it Instructor Mike. 5 big stars!

This concealed to carry class was very challenging to me. From not every holding a gun before into being able to fire it on my own, and actually hit my target. I am very much pleased with the work Mike has put into teaching his class properly, "on not only knowing how to successfully use a firearm " to leaving his class and being able to use the firearm successfully knowing when and where and how to use my firearm to be able to fully protect my self when the time has come. The class was informative and I liked going to the range for hands on practice. The facility he teaches in is cold and uncomfortable. He also yells a bit much and start early in the morning with it. You can discipline without yelling at adults. It’s too early to start your day like that. Just know what you’re in for as far as his attitude but he will teach you a lot and he’s realistic about what can possibly happen on the street.

However I messaged mike and he was very understanding and told me I could complete the class at a later time and Day. However due to Covid I haven’t been able to finish the class. But let me just say that armed class was one of the best experiences I could have had in a class. Mike is very professional and treats everyone the same. He has a very different approach to teaching which I think we need more of I’m these times. I really hope to be able to finish my course soon. But when you look at his “approach” and what he produces you get a better picture of why he is the way he is.. Mike Brown is indeed, the best firearms instructor in the state of Illinois. This is the second time I’ve taken one of his courses and I’ve learned more than I expected each time. He goes out of his way to touch on subjects and aspects of the criminal justice system that is not required to teach, but he does so so that it enhances his student’s knowledge of the CJS system and their responsibility as a gun owner/carrier in the state of Illinois. If you want the sugar coated version (the easy teaching) this class is NOT for you. Yet, if you can put your emotions to the side and let the lessons just sizzle on your mind, and make yourself THINK, it’s perfect for you. 16 hours is not enough time to teach you how to be the best at defending yourself, but this is the perfect foundation.

Mike Brown was so relatable to real life circumstances and his scenarios were on point to real life situations. He even had several unfortunate current and past events that happened involving firearms and where the outcome could have been different. I leave here today not prepared to shoot a firearm but prepared to be more aware of myself and avoiding to use my firearm because every “threat” that you feel, it is not necessary that your firearm needs to be drawn instead safety is first and it can be avoided. This company provides inexpensive very effective training you'll need in order to prevail in the security field. Mike is an excellent well knowledgeable instructor. I attended the 1 day (16 hours) Concealed Carry course. Before I talk about the class itself, I would like to highlight the customer service I received beforehand. I had been on a long search looking for a Concealed Carry class that fit my schedule and my budget. Someone referred Security Training Concepts to me and I reached out immediately. Mike Brown was really great about answering my many questions and walking me through the registration process. Even after I registered and paid my fees, I had questions about the class. He was very patient and prompt in answering all the questions I had. So we get to the day of the class. Just a heads up, if you do the 16-hour class, bring food that doesn't need to be refrigerated or heated. Not a lot of healthy choices in the area. Bring snacks and water, you'll need it. He has some items for sale. The class was REALLY great. We covered a multitude of topics including but not limited to an intro to firearms (parts, types, cleaning, loading/unloading, etc), proper handling/grip, marksmanship, laws, went you can or must shot and how to conduct ourselves once we start to carry. We went through various drills on firearm handling, aiming, lateral shooting and defense maneuvers. Halfway through the day, we went to the range to practice shooting. Mike really stayed on us about proper handling, aiming and shooting at the center of mass. Make sure you drive or have transportation to the range. We finished the day with going over laws and really understanding when we can and must shoot. Mike is tough! He plays NO games when it comes to us learning proper technique, handling, and safety. He's a veteran and ex-cop so his teaching can be rigorous. But at the same time, he's caring, understanding and HILARIOUS! That 16 hour day flew! As much as we learned we had a GREAT time. I am really grateful for this class. I walked through Mike's doors with a real fear of guns. When we got to the range, I was so nervous I was shaking all while watching the others. I jumped every time I heard a shot. When it was time for me to shoot, Mike sensed my nervousness and talked me through everything because my mind went blank. He reassured me, told me to trust myself but never once let up on being rigorous. I left the range confident and with my fear gone. I HIGHLY recommend this class and any course with Mike Brown at Security Training Concepts.

I was very excited about the class because I’ve only heard good things and he was willing to work with me for my daycare issues due to the class being from 6 am-10 pm. However upon the day it was canceled and I only found out by calling on my way to the class. On his website it does mention CLASSES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE and he really means it. I called off two jobs to make sure I was open for this class I wanted to purse. The next class isn’t until next month. He is not willing to give any of my money back even tho I haven’t took the class and is no longer interested in the class due to his cancellation. I would not recommend this class to any one with a hectic/ busy life.

I took Mike's unarmed and armed/conceal to carry(which was free for me). I definitely enjoyed the class. There was not a boring period during class what's so ever. But if you going for something other than classes like paper work DON'T DO IT! If you don't have an appointment or go on a day where he does only paper work you will be waiting for hrs. I went in to get my FOID card instead of telling me to come back or just wait for him to finish she was quick to take my money( which he returned) and told me to sit which I sat an hr. He wanted me to wait 2-3 hrs more til his class was over. He then compared me or himself to an aide office saying you have to wait there. But I didn't pay for services there. I felt like he was being super rude and very unprofessional.
