Round of applause for the Merritt pool staff: the employees that check-in the guests, bartenders (guy with the sick beard!!), servers (Jules!!), and lifeguards. Everyone does their best to make sure you have a great experience (they are so friendly!!) There is a good balance of families and young professionals, so it doesn’t get too rowdy (although in the past two weeks I’ve seen two people taken away on a stretcher from overconsumption of alcohol - the staff does great in these emergencies) The facilities are always clean and there are plenty of towels available. The only thing that would make this place perfect is a better menu. Sometimes the food arrives missing important ingredients or over cooked, so I don’t purchase food there anymore.

Excellent pool. Lifeguard Nina taught me a lot about breathing techniques and helped me in a major way. If you need a teacher ask for her! Very knowledgeable staff at the gym. Everytime i go I learn a lot.

CONVENIENTLY LOCATED GOOD AESTHETICS PLENTY OF ROOMS. YOU HAVE EVERYTHING ONE COULD WANT IN A GYM AS WELL AS A GREAT LOCATION, GREAT STAFF. PERSONAL TRAINING FEATURE IS FANTASTIC - PERSONAL TRAINERS ARE GREAT PROFESSIONALS IN THEIR AREA. Merritt Clubs Canton has 2 pools - one indoors and one outdoors. They also have plenty of group classes to offer: Unleash Studio for group trainins like Body Pump, Body combat, Body Attack, Revive - Yoga, Barre; and Xcelerate - cycling studio. They offer free coffee at all times. There is plenty of parking, and there is also a garage available for 3 hours for all the members. Gym staff organized big events like new launches, challenges, pool parties with food available and specialty cocktails for purchase. There is also a point program (Perkville) that gives you discounts (hotels, concerts, movies) and freebies (such as free smoothies, free month of membership). Locker rooms are newly renovated and have plenty of space. If you have a question, there is always somebody from staff to help you! I love starting out my day at Merritt Clubs!

Honestly probably the best gym around. Definitely don't go to CRUNCH. Craig is the best and helped me with so much. But this gym is so nice and clean and just fun. I actually have made a few friends just by randomly talking to people.

I love Merritt I’ve been going here for 5 years. Hate that it increases once your 25 especially being a loyal customer here. What I can say that I don’t appreciate is how expensive the rooftop bar is. The food and drinks are a bit much especially when we’re paying so much for the gym as is every month. Things should be like 5.00. I got 3 drinks and two basic meals yesterday and was charged 100.00. Like wow. Other than that I love the locations aside from Owings mills. Very limited.

Great gym with a large selection of equipment and availability is not usually a problem. I would give a better rating but as a member paying full price without 24 hour access I can't. I've been a member since April 2020. I've never had 24 hour access and that was a primary reason I joined this gym. I understand COVID threw a wrench into a lot of businesses practices but the cut in hours hurts a lot. I need that flexibility due to my work schedule so not having it is unfortunate. The gym is nice, clean, and the staff are great! The other complaint I have is I could really do without Fox News on the televisions. Having to watch garbage hate-filled opinions while I workout is not desirable.

I first joined Merritt when my small, local gym closed. I was uncertain as I'd loved the personal feel of being a part of a smaller gym and the friendships I'd made while I was there. The Canton location felt so large to me at the time in comparison. I now feel silly for being so uncertain about things...the classes and instructors at Merritt are top notch...they made a big gym feel more welcoming, and the options that exist are amazing. I'm a big fan of Body Attack and Body Combat, but also love the variety and quantity of machines there for when I can't make a class. Rarely have I ever had to wait for anything. Throughout the course of the pandemic, I've been super-impressed with the communication from the club, the dedication to keeping the space clean and safe for members, and the thoughtful attention that's been paid to reintroducing 'normalcy' to the classes and space as well. Add in both an indoor pool for lap swimming year round, and the best outdoor pool in the city, and I don't think you'll find a better bang for your buck fitness option in Canton. Thank you Merritt staff for all you do!

Visited once. Was contacted by management soon thereafter. Was offered a pretty sweet deal to join prior to year's end and glad that I did. The space, vast array of equipment, amenities...the SPACE. Definitely the place to go lose yourself for a couple of hours attending to your fitness goals.

I was a member here for 1 year; and would have stayed; but my work location changed. This is a great Gym. Very clean, excellent equipment, great classes. The Towel Service/Layout is also very convenient. Parking is also super easy. Compared to most gyms in the area, you do pay more....but you do get a lot more for it. I used this for the pool, classes, free weights, and lifting areas (no personal training/no cardio machines) and can honestly say that I never had any issues with equipment, cleanliness, etc. My only complaints were that sometimes the classes got very busy; but I can understand that there is a reason why demand is so high (They are great classes). Free weight access was also busy during peak hours....but with access to the pool; I was able to switch days/classes/etc. to get a schedule that worked well.

I’m currently a member of another merritt, I came here coming for a day pass to try it out, little did I know I was then charged 25$ for using this gym. The receipt sent to my email says I brought a guest, which I never brought a guest and I came by myself. I emailed David Hannibal, (the general manager of the club), and he has still yet to email me back after sending him two emails regarding it. Very frustrating, very poor customer service. Edit: David called me back, very professional and nice, and explained the details to me.

Before Covid it was a great gym with lots of amenities. A bit pricy but worth it in my opinion. Free parking and free coffee are great perks. I was a bit disappointed with the mask optional policy when working out hard but they eventually went to a mask all the time policy. Still missing some of the premium features before Covid like towel service and the coffee bar. The members are all great. The kids club area is small but our kids used to enjoy going. Rooftop pool and bar is a great place to hang out and let the kids play during the summer.

This gym is over the top! I love their rooftop pool the most, but the gym is clean and spacious. The staff have always been very friendly. The rooftop pool offers a bar and light menu. The family pool has water slides for children. The adult pool is a hot spot for the canton area. I think the gym membership on its own is expensive, but adding access to all of the outdoor pools makes the cost justified in my opinion.

Great club, and with the money. They have something for every member of the family. Plenty of classes for adults, swim lessons for children, and Summer Camp for the kiddos. The rooftop pool is a lot of fun! The menu has something for everyone, and the food (and drinks) are delicious! The staff is professional & efficient.

I went to Merritt to enquire about their membership. Pros- 1) The facility is huge and almost never ending. 2) Intermittently they run offers such as waiving off their one time joining fee. 3) Equipments are sophisticated and new. 4) Their monthly membership fees is in par with other private fitness centers in the area. 5) The staff is friendly and not at all pushy. Cons- 1) It is very crowded and therefore overwhelming. So many people, so many equipments and the noise makes the environment feel like a combat training zone. 2) There is just one indoor heated lap swimming pool. The rooftop pools are open from May-Sept. 3) Mandatory lock in period of 12 months, which means that you have to commit to pay for 12 months membership. If you cancel before that you will have to pay 50 percent of the fees of the remainder months. 4) Coaching fees are not included in the membership fees. For example- if you want to learn yoga or swimming, you will have to pay extra fees over and above your membership fees. So, beware of this one. 7) Since their membership fees include all types of fitness options, you do not have the option to pick and chose the ones that you are interested in. Which I think is such a waste of money. For example- I want to join their gym. I don’t know to swim, yet I have to pay for using the pool as well. I wouldn’t join here because it’s over crowded and there is no pick and choose option.

Still the best gym I've ever been to, the staff is very friendly, tons of parking, huge facility, every machine you can think of, no wait time for anything, the gym goers are very curtious, just an over all great place to work out. They are also taking every precaution when it comes to the pandemic and I appreciate that, thanks a lot, I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone looking for one.

Merritt offers so many awesome options to getting fit and staying healthy! The staff is very friendly and helpful, the equipment variety is fantastic, and there are lots of member perks- including the indoor AND outdoor rooftop pool, squash courts, and the turf space!

Pretty standard gym, really. A little expensive. Sometimes there are issues with machines, but on the whole equipment is new and in pretty good working order. Things are clean and there's a full menu of options. They always seem a little behind the 8 ball (basketball court should have been resurfaced long before it was), but they're trying. And once the parking garage and poolS are open, there will be a lot to love.

It’s true that it’s pricey. But this is THE gym to be at. As with all things in life, your gym experience will be what you make of it. If you put in the effort- you’ll get the results. Speaking of results- the trainers at Merritt are pretty awesome. I’ve been working with mine for a couple of months and it’s really changed my gym experience and honestly my life. If you’re looking to build a fitness foundation and want support- look no further. Ask to train with Devin. You won’t regret it , except during cardio.

Merritt Athletic club in Canton is a great place and a place for all ages and all physical shapes & sizes. It is a good place to get fit whether you're 26 or 66 (like me), it just makes you feel comfortable and help is available if you need it. I have found it just a nice place to go and work out and be yourself.

Been in fitness/gyms for 20 years. Best club in the city...except the other Merritt clubs. Amazing free group classes for members: everything you can think of. Take a spin class, you won't regret it. Also note that the pool is off the chain amazing. The nicest pool in the city is being built and will finish sometime in 2017. I like the Merritt's Downtown location during the after work rush at gyms 5-:30 time. twice the size, so you have all the equipment you want :)

LOVE Merritt! So many great group fitness classes to chose from with varying, convenient times. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and they do everything they can to keep members updated on the what is going on at the club- whether it is new offerings, holiday hours, or special classes. Many staff members even take the time to get to know you by name! While I haven't tried the new blow-dry bar service yet, I'm really excited that is now available. Also, can't beat having a pool to relax at in the summer :)

I'm a confessed gym rat. This is a remarkable gym. Spacious change rooms. Great equipment with free weights, squat rack, calf and dip stations... Which is frequently neglected at other gyms. Proper spacing to feel comfortable doing power cleans and 24 hours access. I am a frequent traveler so I was looking to try before committing to a drop in fee or membership. The 7 day no pressure trial was most appreciated...still in shock there was no forced tour. A gem in Baltimore.

I have been away from the gym for awhile and have just started back. I love the body pump group class. It is perfect for all ages and me because you can gear you work out based on what you body can handle. Suzanne Cox has been one of my instructors from the beginning of my return. She is so in tuned to her students. She is there 30 minutes before the class starts and is constantly asking if there are any new people to pump, or folks like me who are returning. I love her commitment, energy and enthusiasm!

I love this gym! They have so much to offer (fitness classes, indoor and outdoor pools, rooftop lounge, basketball court, racquetball, smoothie bar downstairs, and more). Your first year is a year long contract though, so keep that in mind.

I love this gym! I do the group fitness classes only, and they attract a wide variety of ages and abilities. The instructors are wonderful and very enthusiastic. Also, I originally joined to use the outdoor swimming pool which is an added bonus during the sumer months. Everything is clean and top notch. I highly recommend this gym. #Groupfitnessrocks

The new edition to the gym is awesome, and parking is much improved with the new garage. However, if you want to go workout between 4-7 during the week, the gym is really crowed and busy. Its better to go later at night or on the weekends.

I just think it is so expensive ($79/month) if you don’t take the classes offered in the price, like me who only lifts weights and hits the pool. I’ve thought about leaving but haven’t, so there must be something that’s keeping me there.

My roommates and I absolutely love the Merritt, and do a variety of the group fitness classes from Power Yoga (Cathy is great!) to Pure Barre (Ann-Marie and Kelly are great!) as well as take advantage of the cardio/weight machines. It is always super clean and everyone there is friendly and helpful! Also, the pool in the summertime is amazing. Highly recommend this gym to anyone in the Canton area!

I love the Merritt in Canton! It has the best fitness classes - wide range of classes as well as multiple time offerings, including lunch time classes too. The instructors are top notch - motivating and pushing you to your best. The gym is clean, friendly and a great staff. Not to mention that in the summer, it becomes the local hangout for some sun and fun!

Decent gym and I've given a good review in the past but at this point I'm frustrated. Volo league is constantly occupying the court. One of my main reasons for joining was the basketball court, so for me to not have access to it during high traffic periods 3 days a week is ridiculous. Especially with it being in the winter. Lastly, to top it off there is no discount for Merritt members to join the Volo league as an incentive. Paying members are getting the short end of the stick and we all know it's not a cheap stick.

This location is Canton is awesome. They offer great classes! The Spin class has awesome music that really gets you into the ride. The Barre class which is newer is an awesome toning class that gives great results. I haven't been a member long enough to use their gym in the summer, but I'm betting I'll be there every weekend!

I absolutely LOVE the group fitness classes at Merritt- and really appreciate that I can have access to ALL of the downtown class schedules to pick the type of classes and the time that works best on any given day!! I mostly tend to work out at the Canton/Fed Hill gyms- and they have done a lot of upgrades to cardio machines (love the new group fitness cycle bikes) and free weights lately which has been super nice!! LOVE the salt water pool at Canton all winter long!!

If you need a jump start to your Saturday morning I would highly recommend taking spin class with Mysty Saturday morning's at 10:00 am. She gets the entire class involved and gives you an amazing workout. You leave class with a smile on your face and feeling great. GET INVOLVED!

Been going here for almost 3 years now. Expensive, but a decent gym. It gets super crowded during the week in the early mornings and around 6pm. Parking can be an adventure too. Can't wait till the parking garage is finished.

Such a fan of this place. Love the roof top pool.... A bit disappointed in the amount of rowers available (we're down to two last I checked, there was only three to begin with). Or maybe I'm a big rower fan and there aren't enough to reasons to justify more.

If you want to try a spin class at Merritt, I highly recommend instructor Mysty Edrington. By far the best spin instructor I have ever had. She doesn’t SCREAM AT YOU like a drill sergeant. She also doesn’t get all spiritual and talk to you like you’re in a yoga class. She is all about having a good time and does everything by the beat of the music. She encourages singing if you know (or don't know) the words and she even gets off her bike in the middle of every class and dances. The playlists are always on point and sometimes she will throw in a theme (last time I went it was all 80’s /90’s remixes- amazing). Rather than dread an intense work out, I look forward to her classes because I have so much fun.

I like the physical layout of the club and all of the machines have been in working order every time that I have visited. My only gripe is that the parking lot is extremely limited. If possible, I'd recommend walking or riding a bicycle here .

Great location and services. Open 24 hours which is a HUGE plus. Wish that the parking situation was a bit better but hopefully they'll solve that in the future.
