My wife and I have been to Hale Theatre at least 7 times now. We loved the musicals like Marry Poppins and The little Mermaid. They have a concession for buying snacks during intermission. Very cute place. I will say that the non-musicals aren’t our cup of tea. But that’s a purely preference. Many of our friends love those. Make sure you get a center spot seating. Because the stage is in the middle technically every spot is good. Except they the actors will sometimes use the stairs and corners for the scene and if you’re in a weird corner your view might be poor.

We saw Brigadoon at Hale theatre and it was a great show! The theatre itself was unlike any I had been to. The stage was in the middle, with seating all around. It felt very immersive with the actors and actresses coming in from every side. The singing was beautiful. The show was entertaining. It made for a perfect girls night out. I look forward to going back for another show sometime.

Went to see Mary Poppins with friends here recently. What a fun and entertaining experience. There’s not a bad seat in the house. The performance was excellent. Cast was excellent. This theater is an an excellent location in down town Gilbert. Great restaurant nearby and plenty of parking.

Our new favorite place! We had an incredible time as a family seeing A Christmas Carol. Very kid-friendly, family friendly, time of show was perfect, it was very entertaining, loved the special effects, the story and actors were amazing. Atmosphere was cheery and filled with the Christmas spirit. Can't wait to see another show!

WOW, the Elton John and Billy Joel Tribute at Hale Theatre Studio was crazy good! Intimate little studio that only sits probably less than 200, so you're sitting right next to the performers. The Billy Joel singer missed a few notes but his energy was infectious and he had the crowd rockin and rollin. Elton John singer was on point (even up to has ornate dress and glasses) and did an amazing job with alot of Eltons hits - Bennie & the Jets, Your Song, Yellow Brick Road, Candle in the Wind and quite a few others. $44/person (2nd row) for a 2 hr concert with an encore - amazing deal and we'll worth it.

They have excellent options for shows and the shows are amazing! It is clean, organized, and very efficient. Always on time and no delays. I have been to about six shows and none of them have anything that you can argue about. It has cozy seats and even if you get the seat in the back row, you can see every detail. Every show has a completely different setup on the walls. Most all shows are tear-jerkers but in a good way. I love everything about it! I hope you trust this review and it is definitely a 5 star experience every time. I hope you enjoy it too!!!

Love the shows here, and it's a nice local theater to support. I booked the incorrect time for one of the shows and reached out to them via email to see if my tickets could be switched to the later time. They responded very quickly and updated my ticket right away, so I've always been grateful for that. Seats can fill up fast for certain shows. They have a snack cart that they will bring out during intermission, but no official concession stand. Plenty of parking around the area but not at the theater itself so you'll have to walk a bit.

UPDATE APRIL 2022. The Hale is still an incredible small theater production company. This season my wife and I attended eight performances. Last night it was The Music Man. We were surprised at how well management replicated the costumes worn in the 1962 film. The Hale venue is intimate, accommodating, friendly, and always a treat. If you've been to other musicals, concerts, plays, dinner theaters, then you will be struck the moment you walk in at the small scale of the Hale Theater, which we LOVED. Not a bad seat in the place and every seat is close to the performance. The Hale has an intimate atmosphere which heightens the experience of the performance. But this is a review of not only the venue but also the show - A Christmas Carol. It was simply outstanding and seemed to be closer in professionalism, props, music, special effects to a big city venue than a small town production. And I HAVE to comment about the costumes - "over the top". I've been to enough low-budget theater where the costumes are a bit shabby, worn and tired. Not here. Obviously they poured a lot of money into costumes. Tickets are very pricey but based on all that I've just said, it just makes sense. This is not a low budget production. Also, the cast of A Christmas Carol was surprisingly large. Management controls how and when late-comers are seated, which I love. It minimizes distractions and interference. No alcoholic beverages are served here because they strictly adhere to their family oriented philosophy. They do serve snacks and drinks. We have family flying in next month and have reserved seats for an upcoming performance. I highly recommend the Hale for a truly different theater experience. January 20. Attended another performance tonight - Always, Patsy Cline. Simply an outstanding production loaded with talent. Another fun time.

Hale Theater puts on great quality shows in a very intimate setting. I love it! People who are hearing impaired can enjoy it because the crowd is much smaller and more respectful than a larger crowd. You also get a great view from all seats!

Intimate setting, not a bad seat in the house. The ushers were so very considerate so as not to interrupt performance yet accommodate patrons...contemporary and fresh venue. Lots of parking nearby, lots of lively dining options both inside and out surrounding the theater.

Everybody loved it. Its sorta hidden so easily missed off gilbert road, but glad we found it and went. We saw Christmas Carol, and the actor that played Ebenezer was quite amazing. I mean they were all great, singing, acting but he took the cake and rightly so since he was the main character; evident as to why. A must see. So much so that some family are coming down soon, so guess what, yup, they want to see it too!

I went to 2 recent events, both were excellent . Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn was well done. I even learned some secrets. ABBA was amazing and sgared with 3 friends we sang abd danced and swayed to the music. What a great evening! I plan to see 2 more very soon. Loving this place!

Always fun to catch a show at Hale. The venue is clean and nice, the actors are skilled and it's relatively affordable. Last night I enjoyed the studio next door for the Hi-Five Christmas concert with my two daughters (6 and 8). It's less seating, and every seat is great! Go to several of the theater shows a year and have previously left a 5 star review a few years ago. The talent is generally very good and the venue is great. Many of the shows have been great (Sister Act, Addams Family, Christmas Carol, and such) but every once in a while there's one or two that just doesn't work. Went to see one of the music shows (Johnny Cash/Roy Orbison/Everly Bros) in the new space which was fairly good but was totally disappointed by the Hi Fi Holiday show. Was a little surprised that this was the same main singer as the last show - but more importantly was expecting a more "upbeat" show. When Ave Maria (which I love) if one of the better, faster paced songs it's a long evening. Song selection wasn't the best, and most songs that were performed were too torchy, lonely bar club, slow - slower than most versions you'll hear even intstrumental versions. Singers had very good voices but just didn't think the songs - and how slow and "show tuney" they were performed - worked for my "Hi Fi Holiday" expectations. Was escpecially disappointed as we had taken friends with us. In all honesty, we almost left at intermission but had hoped the second half would pick up the pace. It did for one song at that was about it.

The 42nd Street show was wonderful. Filled with beautiful songs, lively tap dancing, and snaps of humor. For the theater lover, I highly recommend. The set is also very unique and the cast does well at showing to all the room.

We just attended Roy Orbison. The gentleman who performed as Roy was great. Excellent voice. Band was great. Unfortunately I did not come to see the two backup/accompanying female singers do their solo performances. That was unexpected and not appreciated.

Andrews Brothers last night was an exquisite performance! The Gold cast: Joey Morrison as Max Andrews, Trevon Powell as Lawrence Andrews, Reece Harris as Patrick Andrews and the one and only Michala Montano as Peggy Jones was absolutely out of this world! Entertainment at its finest! Michala Montano’s talent is hard to go unrecognized. She owned the stage by drawing the audience into the story. Literally, I was mesmerized by her charisma. Her voice has the clearest purity with an amazing control and range. Just like with any outstanding performance, I need to go back to see it again, and again!

We went to Daddy Long Legs last night at this venue. Beautiful venue. Loved the way the theatre was arranged with the seats surrounding the stage! The talent of the musicians and cast were amazing! We loved the play, music, venue, and story!! So, so good! We wore masks, seating was spaced, and they wiped handrails down. Can't wait to watch another play at the Hale theatre!

What can I say but the fact that this theatre is mind blowing! The phrase 'small but mighty' is a perfect description of this theatre. I've only gone twice but every visit has me excited to come back again. It's little but gives you the perfect experience of having your own personal viewing. I've gone to see the Sister Act play. Those actors and actresses were amazing! This time around it was an Elvis Tribute. So if you are looking for quality entertainment, look into this theatre in Downtown Gilbert!

My review of: Hale Theatre in Gilbert. This small theatre packs a punch that leaves you breathless and feeling enchanted. You feel right as if you are a part of the show. Wall panels are changed out and painted to reflect the current production being performed. I saw the Little Mermaid the musical. Children were welcome to attend in costume. I saw more than one mermaid in the audience. A close up meet and greet with the cast follows afterwards in the lobby. Gigantic chocolate chip cookies can be purchased before and after the show.

We love Hale. We've been season ticket holders for almost two years now. Some of our favorites have been Newsies, The Scarlet Pimpernel, and most definitely Thr Christmas Carol. That has become a yearly tradition for us. Hale puts on quality productions and the cost is relatively low of you buy their 5+ show passes. I love the location-- right near the water tower in downtown Gilbert. I've also found the customer service at Hale to be excellent when I've needed to adjust my ticket reservations. The website online is also easy to use. I very much recommend this theater.

I Just saw Lucky Stiff at the Hale. The performance has outstanding and every performer was worthy of a 10 with powerful voices and the acting was well presented. There didn’t seem to be a bad seat in the house and the set changes totally amazed me. I will definitely go again and take friends and family. Gilbert is lucky to have this live theater in their city.

I loved the theater, especially the interactive feeling with the 360° setting. The only problem we had was with the seating. One of our five seats was a corner seat that couldn't be used even by a thin person. We will pick better seats next time but the theater would do well to remove the seats that are on a bias. Our guest had to sit in a place away from us which in the end was not too much of a hardship but we did want to be together.

If you haven't been to a show here, you've missed something special! I always wonder how they're going to pull off a big Broadway show on an intimate stage in their theatre- in- the- round and I'm always blown away by a fabulous production! My husband and I adore the shows at the Hale Centre Theatre in downtown Gilbert! They are always done well and the time and talent put into every second shows through on each actors face. Season tickets are priced fairly at $24 per ticket and they have a fun selection of shows in their repertoire. Our two favorites so far have been, Meet Me in St. Louis and Annie.

Beautiful theatre - loved being in a closer more intimate environment to see The Music Man, that being said, Prof Hill looked like he might pass out at any minute and was a little too old to play opposite Marian. My niece thought it was gross. He had a nice voice and speaking voice and great acting but the songs seemed like a struggle for him. Overall I enjoyed it.

The fish was so good and we got home fries that were delicious too. We also got salads but they were all that weird Lettuce and spinach no regular Lettuce. Not my kind of salad but my husband loved it.. next time I will make sure I get regular lettuce. We will be back love this place. The table next to us got carrit cake and the man got bread pudding. A delightfully intimate theatre. It appears that the stage is intentionally small to allow for other areas of the house to provide for scene settings. As a member of the audience you may get the feeling you're a cast member because the set design is cleverly wrapped around you. Such an unusual theater - they really have to be creative with their set design since the audience sits on all four sides of the stage. They do a great job of attracting talented performers and choosing interesting productions. I've never shown up and had a bad experience!

We have seen most of the shows at Hale Theatre since it first came to Gilbert. We have been pleased or thrilled, and have truly enjoyed going nearly once a month most years. It is amazing the variety of shows that can be preformed in this theatre with seats all the way around and so close to the stage we often feel part of it. Saw " Footloose" with a group of 12 ladies. All of us thought it was great and the acting, dancing, and singing were first class. We were impressed with all the stage changing and costumes. The theater itself is near many great restaurants, also. So make a full day of it. Gilbert has a lot to offer.

We saw Scrooge as a Christmas family tradition and it was very good. It wasn't too scary for the little kids. A great thing to do during the holidays. The theater or venue pricing for the food and snacks inside was very affordable and all the people who work that were very light and helpful The staff has always the knowledge available to be able to answer my questions when I'm there. I absolutely LOVE Hale Theater! It is intimate and there is not a bad seat in the house. If you have never seen theater in the round, I highly recommend. The production is done really well, full sets and beautiful costumes. Shows are typically no more than 3 hours, with a short intermission. The snacks and drinks are yummy! I also love the location. It is the perfect spot to grab a bite to eat before or after being located in Downtown Gilbert.

My son and I went to Brigadoon last night and loved every moment of this energetic, touching, colorful and brilliantly executed play. The theater in the round had us all feeling as if we were in Brigadoon ourselves. Every performer was flawless and the House Manager Felicia was great! Absolutely loved this place and the experience! First ever show. Anywhere. We went to go see A Christmas Carol. Great performance! Would definitely go back again! My only minor, minor complaint would be that we had isle seats, when the actor would go up the stairs and off to one side of the theater, I had to lean back just a bit as there was a hand rail in my line of sight. Again, absolutely minor "complaint". Did not ruin the experience!

The show was good, I saw Mary Poppins, but I didn't love the setup of the stage. It's down in the middle of the theater with seats all around it. This makes the background of each scene the people opposite you and closest to the stage. I just personally felt that it made it difficult to really get pulled into the story. This is a great community theater. Seating is in the round, no more than 9 rows deep. Local and national actors perform all sorts of shows that will make you smile, cry, laugh, and sing along. It may not be the caliber of a Broadway show, but it's just as entertaining. With no chance of getting mugged!

When I moved to Phoenix area we started attending In Gilbert! We have traveled much and seen live theatre in London, Paris, San Francisco, New York, Scotland, Portugal and more! We saw a Christmas Carol here in Dec during the holiday season. These guys did an AMAZING JOB! The audience surrounds the stage and really gives you a more intimate feeling about the play. All seats are good seats but I do prefer the East side, as it tends to provide better view if they happen to do any acts up above the crowd in corners.

This Cinderella story of a young orphan who is helped by a rich trustee of the orphanages and the love story than ensues was Artfully presented on the HCT stage. I would have liked to see enforcement of the patron mask wearing though. Even prior to the show starting, multiple masks were removed or covering only their mouth and it would be a factor to consider prior to purchasing tickets again.

We really enjoyed the production. The staff was friendly and helpful. The whole atmosphere was welcoming, well . . . Except for the mask policewoman who tirelessly and politely asked patrons to wear the mask correctly. If you don't want to wear a mask, maybe you should not go. The actors were very good, the music was fabulous, costumes were outstanding. The only thing I really didn't like was the price. $40 is hard to come by when you have a large group, and we are social creatures. We like to go with family and friends. When we first started going to Hale Center Theater it was half that. Maybe I'm just stuck in the past.

We love the plays we’ve seen at this theater. However I took my granddaughter to Steel Magnolias and was very disappointed because the actors spoke so fast we didn’t understand about 90% of the dialogue. I know my comprehension is slow because I’m 75 yrs old. However most of the guests were seniors as well. That’s the only play that I’ve experienced that. I’m just asking Hale to be aware. This is an awesome little theater. No bad seats. We’re fortunate to have it here.

My family and I were recently transported to 1843 and witnessed the ghostly hallucinations of a miserly old man on the the eve of Christmas after he ate a bit of potato. Or perhaps by some magic performed by the fine staff at the Hale we witnessed the power of redemption and repentance on one of the greatest holidays ever invented. First time at this theater and saw Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Beautiful, small theater with seating all around. The acoustics and lighting were great, performance was fantastic with both local and national actors and actresses. The concessions were sparse. I did not give it 5 stars as a staff member had to rearrange people in the seats and caused a delay in start time by 15 minutes. Why they couldn’t have done this when they issued the reserved seats I can’t guess. Some of the guests were fragile and took awhile to have to get up, navigate the stairs, and move. And it is mandatory to still wear masks. The same staff member did this during the intermission. I thought that was unnecessary as by this time it had been over an hour that people were sitting ‘too close’. I will wait to return for the next performance until the mask mandate is over.

The staff are friendly, they treat you respectably and as humans. The quality of the shows are top-notch. I absolutely love going to this place! Every seat is a great seat. This theatre is very intimate and friendly. Make sure you get there early enough to allow time to find a parking spot. The patrons seem to be a bit older but there is always a good mix of generations in the audience and in the cast! It is lovely to see all types of actors. I go to this theater as much as I can. I watched Kiss and Tell most recently and it was a one of the best plays I have seen in a long time. It was hilarious! Great job to everyone who works hard to bring such great entertainment to our community! If you haven't seen a play at this theatre you are definately missing out on something very special.

HOLY COW. Fantastic singing and acting. Insanely high production quality. Tons of remarkable costumes, props, set designs, lighting effects, and audio effects. The whole thing blew my mind away from the time I walked in until the time I left. Truly unforgettable. Also, all the seats are comfortable and provide quality visibility, and the show I saw was perfectly family friendly.

Hale Theater's production of 'A Chrismas Carol' was fabulous! Wonderful family activity. The acting was great and powerful. Best scene was the graveyard scene with ghost of Christmas future - many actors dance around then suddenly lay down and raise gravestones over their chest, creating the perfect ambiance of the future rolling forward quickly resulting in many being interned! Wow! Deep impact! Well choreographed.

H.C.T. is a great venue for some amazing local theater. I have come to shows here before, and today's performance of a newer musical, "Bright Star", was pretty perfect. All of the cast members were talented and believable enough to take me on their journey but lead actress Heidi-Liz Johnson really touched me with her heartfelt performance. The theater is "in the round" and the performers move about so there really aren't any bad seats. Check Hale out, and really try to see this production of "Bright Star".

The only reason why I gave it four stars is because of the lack of leg room. Otherwise, the experience is completely enjoyable. I can't believe what this theater can do. Our latest play was singing in the rain. They actually had "rain" during singing in the rain number. Several audience members were hit with water. Even with the lack of leg room i would still go to enjoy a show. They have some really good talent appearing there. It's a perfect way to spend an evening, make sure to visit one of the local restaurants while your downtown. The Liberty Market is a slice of heaven.

This is a smaller theater that does not have a classic 'stage' where there is a real stage with sets & backdrops, an orchestra, and then seating. This is more of a basketball court with seating all the way around it with the play in the middle with small props constantly being wheeled back and forth. This frequently breaks the 4th wall for me unfortunately. While I do miss a real stage, what this theater lacks in facilities is more then made up for by the selection of plays and the actors & actresses who participate, which is first rate. If you want to have an excellent night out with your spouse or family for dinner & a show, this is a fine way to do so.

Great little venue! Black box style, in the round, 360 degree stage. They have a hometown feel, but this is a big production with big name shows! I have a friend who was in a show. I was amazed to hear that they pay their actors and each show run is performed 30-40 times. They know their stuff and are well directed. Especially popular on weeknights for snowbirds. Weekends, for everyone.

We saw Aida on closing night (July 1st). We've been coming there for years, and it was FANTASTIC!! The best performance I've seen there to date. The cast was amazing, the story-line was powerful and the musical numbers were beautiful and breathtaking! Beautiful restored venue. A "theater in the round" experience. It's 360 degree view to the stage in the center of the room. Actors use the entire theater including enter/exit via the aisles to the stage floor. Great sound and not a bad seat in the house. Beautifully restored in art deco style. Seats just under 400. This is a local performance theater. There is a season, and annual passes are available. If you get a chance, see a show here. You'll love it.

I've been to the Hale Theatre twice now. It is a small, quaint venue that produces good quality productions. There is not a bad seat in the house; because it is a small venue all the seats have a very good view. The location is very close to quality restaurants in this area making it easy to have dinner and a play without moving your vehicle.

Quality well known plays in a small theater, probably less than 200 seats. The theater seating surrounds the stage. There are no bad seats. Productions always have a cast suited for their parts. Especially like the musicals, with the added dimension of the choreography. Costuming is well done. Excellent night's entertainment, dinner in Gilbert and the play. We love it. We drive 35 miles to see these productions. Broadway quality theater in Gilbert, Az? Amazing.

A wonderful place to see a play. Both musicals and comedies. They have individual and season ticket sales options available. Seating is reserved and it is 360 degrees so every seat has an excellent view of the play. Intermission is at the half way point of each play and lasts for 15 minutes. Each play lasts approximately 2 hours.

Hale Theater is in downtown Gilbert right across from the water tower. The building is being expanded to include classrooms for acting, singing and dance - three of the talents used throughout the plays. The talent shows when the actors and actresses enter the stage. ( In the round so they must play to all 4 directions.) These people remember innumerable lines, many songs each performance, and a multitude of dances to go with each song. There are some actors who remind me of a young Dick Van Dyke with the flips and pratfalls. Others are reminiscent of Ginger Roger's and Fred Astaire. If you enjoy plays and want an evening out that won't soon be forgotten, go to the Hale.

It's a really nice theatre. Newsies was really good and a lot of the actors were great, especially Les. I didn't love the choreography. It lacked a feeling of spontaneity. Most of the dance sequences seemed to be comprised of the same few ballet moves. The production of Newsies that I saw at ALA's Queen Creek High school was one of the best I have seen, rivaling the Broadway production.

Not selling concessions (water) when I asked for a place to go get a bottle of water, they replied not within walking distance. I walked to Liberty Market where they gave me a cup with a snap lid (free). I returned to my seat and they came and said I couldn't bring outside drinks in. I showed them, just water, they said no. I can bring in a bottle with a screw top, but not a cup with a lid ?????

It's a little messy while they are expanding their space but not too crazy. Parking might be a problem on the weekends. Get there early if you want to park nearby. There are lots of great places to eat around there you could park and walk to most of them. The shows at Hale theater are always top notch. Hale Centre Theatre in Gilbert is a hidden gem -- well worth discovering. We saw The Christmas Carol there and it was excellent. Costumes, staging and intimacy with the cast made this a first rate production at a wonderful theatre. We'll be going back for other shows for sure.

An excellent way to spend the evening. Hale Theatre creates highly entertaining productions that are a steal for the price. The unique "theater in the round" design is incredibly immersive and you really feel like your in the show. The actors do great jobs and are highly engaging and the staff is all very friendly. Dinner is only a short walk away at any of Gilbert's great restaurants (Pomo Pizzeria being a personal favorite.) If your looking for a date location to impress, this is the place to go.

A great community theater that serves up theater in the round. If you're not a fan of this type of setting, you will be disappointed here. I actually enjoy it. But beware, some scenes will but the actors very close to the front row.

If you haven't been to the Hale, you need to go. As I read about local theaters closing, I worry about the outstanding service this theater provides. Excellent musicals and comedy. To Kill a Mockingbird was outstanding. It's a bargain! Try to attend a few shows, we don't want them closing down.

I love going to hail theater. The two downsides are they charge to much for snack but they allow you to bring your own. The other is the lack of bathroom size. Sure you have an intermission but the line for the bathrooms is always uber long.

Quaint Theatre! We saw Kiss and Tell. Cute story set in the 1940's. The stage is in the middle of the Theatre. We were in the front row. I could have had a conversation with the Actor's. Sorry no pics. I will be going back!
