Reviews of Moulin Rouge! The Musical

This was a pretty spectacular show! As soon as you walk in, the beautiful set captivates you. They’ve done a fantastic job with the set. The actors also create an amazing ambience which just gets you super excited for what is to come.
The show itself is fantastic! The actors did an amazing job! We had not heard the soundtrack before visiting and so were very pleasantly surprised with the lovely renditions of some of our most heard top 40 tracks.
Would highly highly recommend this show!

This show was absolutely fantastic! The sets were some of the best I've ever seen on Broadway, and the costumes were beautifully intricate. The cast was extremely energetic and really pulled the audience in with their performance. I highly recommend seeing this show! Although, for a first viewing, I'm not sure the Can-Can tables would be the best choice. That just my opinion.

Not a bad musical, but probably not one I would look to see again.
The actors were quite good — unfortunately some of the sound engineering needed some work as their voices were rather muffled if one sits near the back of the house.
The set design was certainly very well done, and one of the most pleasant to look at, especially with the transitions.
Unfortunately, the plot was painfully uninspiring, and it felt at times that the plot was adapted to fit the narrative of the songs they chose, which felt somewhat unnatural at times.

Amazing show. Highly recommend. Thought it was really well done. High energy, great performances and wonderful song selection with a really creative tie in.
Be aware that sitting in the rear of the mezzanine may block some viewings as some of the performances happen in front of the stage and people lean forward. I think the front mezzanine will be your best option for viewing at this theater.

Amazing show! There wasn't anything I didn't love. Incredibly talented cast, super awesome costumes, amazing lighting design and an incredible set and fully decorated theatre in theme to create a truly immersive experience. 100% recommended.

First time in NY, we watched this show as soon as we got into the city and it was absolutely amazing. The theater is gorgeous, musical numbers amazing, cast spectacular! I encourage everyone to watch a Broadway and off Broadway show because it's truly an experience from start to finish. The theater wasn't as big as I assumed so even from our seats up in the mezzanine we had amazing views! Go watch this show, you will not regret it!!

Where do I start? This was an early Valentine’s Day gift from my boyfriend and I was surprised and didn't know what to expect with this show. I was overwhelmed to say the least. The singing, the dancing, and the acting blew me away. My boyfriend and I were in awe of the show. We are definitely going back! What an amazing experience. I would see this show over and over and over again!!
Andrew Kassouf
Moulin Rouge! was a fantastic show! It was done in a way that was even better than the movie. They changed some things but the main story is the same. The experience from the moment you walked into the theater until the moment you walked out was immersive which added so much. You want to arrive early and be in your seats 15 minutes before the show starts so that you don't miss a thing. This is a show I would see again and again and I am glad to have had the opportunity to experience it in NYC! I am very interested to see how they adapt it for the tour. In Baltimore we will wait till the 23/24 season to find out. I can't wait!

Beautiful story illustrated with well known songs of Lady Gaga, Elton John, Rolling Stones and many many others makes this musical an entertaining experience. Creative costumes adequately represent the setting of Parisian Moulin Rouge cabaret. Not a dull moment! Highly recommend.
Brooke Pascarella
Absolutely gorgeous production! As a lover of the film soundtrack, I wish they would’ve incorporated it more in the show but it was still a lot of fun. We sat in the middle mezzanine section not even that far back and struggled to see the performers when they were on stage extension, something I’ve never had a problem with at other broadway theaters.

If you like energetic performances, popular music, sly comedy quotes, or a love story, then you will love Moulin Rouge. It is all of these and more, brought to life in the gorgeously-appointed Hirschfeld theater. If you sit in the Orchestra level the action comes to you with a T-shaped runway into the audience that is frequently used throughout the show. If you are in the balcony, it's very steeply pitched so seats clearly see the entire stage, and many times the actors on the runway will look up.. Making them feel they are very close to you. I felt the writers were inventive, taking popular tune lyrics from 1970s to today and weaving them seamlessly as the script. 75% of the entire dialogue is songs, most of which you will know. Costumes, acting, singing... All superb.
James Hallgring
This was, hands down, the most spectacular show I've ever seen. I'm not even a big theater show guy, but the singing, dancing, acting, visuals (morphing set pieces) made for non stop exhilaration. I was knocked out.
They let us take pictures of the theater, before and after, but, unfortunately, no pictures of the performances and incredible costumes.

The show was fantastic!!! We did the Broadway roulette where a show is randomly picked for us and we got Moulin Rouge. I am glad we did because it isn’t a show I would have opted to see on my own. The acting was amazing! The show lasted a little too long though, over two hours.

I love this show except for its music and the company 🤣 in the show i went the Lady Marmalade was a disaster.....however, other leading roles in this musical were great, especially Aaron Tveit. He was fabulous and its sad that he left this show. Thankfully we have Derek as the new Christian 👍 I would definitely recommend this show for its beautiful stage and the vigor it brought for not only theater lover but also nyc tourists that can really enjoy.

This production was phenomenal! Such an amazing stage, theater and cast! Well worth your time and money if you're into Broadway shows and Moulin Rouge in particular. The songs were so good and the voices even better. So much talent in this production.

This show was A M A Z I N G!! Seriously one of the best shows I’ve seen! The stage, the set, the actors, the singing, ALL THE SONGS were fantastic! I usually don’t like seeing shows again but I’m seriously thinking about seeing this show again. It’s so good. If you’re thinking of seeing this show. DO IT!!

This was my first trip to New York and my first Broadway show. In short, Moulin Rouge on Broadway *is* entertaining, but not worth the money. I wish I could give it 4 stars but overall, while I was entertained, I'm also disappointed.
Ashley Loren was in fine voice as Satine and Aaron Tveit phoned in a solid B performance as Christian. Eric Anderson (as Harold Zidler) was trying so hard to channel Jim Broadbent from the movie that he became an irritating caricature. I also had trouble hearing him.
Costumes, set design, and choreography were all excellent but somehow the lead characters failed to take full advantage of them. The whole performance was technically okay but that was it. Actors had to wait for the music to start a couple of times (awkward). The ensemble dance numbers were very well done and fun to watch but unfortunately the whole "soul" of the story (innocence lost amidst the cruel heartbreaks of life) was buried under a very messy medley of pop music clips. The transitions were messy, numerous, and obvious. It was like being trapped in a K-Tel commercial.
I also object to the condescending way each scene ended with an obvious "bang" designed as an "applause here" moment. It's like the little kids yelling the last words of their school performance so you know it's over. Loud and flashy with no soul.
Steven Havilla
If you've seen the movie and liked it, you'll love this Broadway musical. New music added makes it even better than the movie. The staging and cast will transport you to the Moulin Rouge stage from Paris. You will definitely enjoy this musical. You will not be disappointed if you plan a trip to NYC and choose this Broadway show.
Elena Honcharova
Amazing show! Totally enjoy it!
Perfect decorations put you to charming atmosphere, and the actors and they sounds give you goosebumps.
Adriana De Lap
One word. FANTASTIC! I have always been a huge fan of the movie and the sound track. As a fair warning, the musical is different in many ways from the movie... but you will not be disappointed.
The musical choices, choreography, costuming, set design and overall production was amazing. Moulin Rouge the musical has a space in my heart, much like the movie.
Ashley Loren as Satine was compelling and her voice range is beautiful.
Bravo to the cast and crew!
Mark McGill
The most beautiful set I have ever scene on Broadway. We sat in the Caberet section. I was like being part of the show.Actually I guess we we're Stupendous acting and singing.
Payal Sampat
such a great show!!! really enjoyed the performance and loved being surprised by the song choices. the production was also impeccable. i looked up how much the actors get paid after and it’s like $20 per hour…. that was disappointing to see
Udit Anand
What an amazing show! The glitz, the glamour, and entertainment, coupled with an impeccable cast make it a must visit for locals and tourists alike. Highly recommend!
John Hannan
This is a fresh, new, and innovative surprise from the original movie. Updated with new songs intertwined with original ones to better express emotions thru the original storyline. This play satisfies the movie fans with saturated color costumes, high energy dancing, and wide-ranging vocals. The crew does an amazing job with lighting and props. At times, I felt the sound control could have been better adjusted, but that is a minor opinion. I totally enjoyed this play and would see it again. Just a side note, I went early to TKTS the day of my ticket and got fairly good seats with a 25% discount.

I have seen moulin rouge twice and this was my second time back in this theater. Both visits were in the mezzanine. The theater 🎭 is beautiful. The staff wear black suites which look really nice. Seating is a little tight. …
Casey Staker
Oh man, where to begin?! The music, the dancing, the acting. So great. Such a fun musical. I had a smile on my face the whole time! Loved and knew almost all of the songs. A genius-masterpiece. It takes talent to weave pop hits into a show like the movie but this is very well thought out! It's like the movie but on steroids! Way more music. Beautiful! Great job cast! 👏
CsabaJ
Over 2.5hour quality show, entertaining, modernized with current songs and a 15minute break within two acts.
Enjoyed the cast, definetly recommend.
J. Yesenia Delgado
It wasn't my favorite show in Broadway, but it was definitely worth seeing. The scenarios, voices, dancers, and orchestra are amazing 👏 …

Came to NY to cross #1 off my bucketlist...seeing a Broadway show on Broadway. Moulin Rouge was the best choice to do this! My husband spoiled me with seats in the can-can section, but when we got word of my favorite, Aaron Tveit, leading before we got there... we were devastated. Then we got to NY and raised Derek Klena was out and we'd see his understudy.. crushed again... espcially with high price seats. But... it was an amazing experience! The theater, the sets, the music, the seats, and the performers! The pre show opening of the ensemble slinking out and staring into your soul got the audience so excited. Ashley Loren as Satine was divine! Her voice is to die for. Aaron C Finley, Christian understudy, was wonderful! You may miss some of the views by sitting so close in the can can section... but it was magical! I had to duck to avoid a leg to the head, haha, and loved it. Performers grabbed us, costumes brushed against us and we could hear the singing without the mics. It was awe inspiring! So good that we went back again 3 nights later and sat in the orchestra for full views. Aaron c Finley was even better than his first understudy night. His opt up in Tango Roxanne was so guttural... dare I say better than Tveit. I miss the show already!
Phyllis Barcena
Fun, sexy, full of energy from the first scene to the last. Gorgeous people, fabulous costumes great singing great dancing and you will love the music! This is a must-see show!
Sally Gill
Everything was gorgeous and eye appealing! I've been to the Moulin Rouge in Paris twice, and this show was more memorable with its storytelling.
Jamie Goulding
Absolutely unbelievable show. A great story line and the acting staff carried it perfectly. Quite possibly one of the best stage performances I've ever seen. Even down to the set, absolutely phenomenal. Highly recommended if you visit Manhatten

"Welcome to the Moulin Rouge!"
Finally checked this off my bucket list!
"Moulin Rouge! The Musical" retells the Ewan McGregor-Nicole Kidman movie with familiar classic songs from the original film and pop songs by Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Adele, Lorde, P!nk, and fun., among others.
The production was grand, it sounded amazing, and the actors were fantastic! Even though I couldn't catch Aaron Tveit as Christian (because his run ended months ago -- he won the Tony Award for Best Actor for this one), Derek Klena did an excellent job portraying his character's love, happiness, frustration, and heartache when needed.
It was indeed a spectacle. Just like the others, I left the sold-out Al Hirschfeld Theater with more than just a smile on my face. I'm a theater fan, and it's the ultimate dream of my kind to watch a Broadway show.
What I can say is I chose the perfect musical for my first actual Broadway show!
Here's to more!
For freedom, beauty, truth, and love.

Great show. A visual spectacle. The first half is my favorite. It's a jukebox musical so don't expect original songs, they're all covers. Also, a warning for anyone going in blind, THIS IS NOT A KIDS SHOW! This show is about antics in a burlesque club in the 1800's. There's scantily clad men and women throughout the show, and before the show starts there's scantily clad men and women dancing on the stage and acting seductive to the audience. If you're a bit prudish, or don't like this type of theme avoid the show but do not bash it. Worth watching at least twice in my opinion.
Paraskevi Gkana-Alberico
What a spectacular show, full of amazing performers, beautiful costumes and detailed sets. Every single person that is responsible for the show, whether on stage or backstage did a great job. Ashley Loren as Satine was wonderful- such an amazing voice. However, Derek Klena as Christian was a little disappointing- I wish I had witnessed Aaron Tveit nail this role.
Jaime 777
Quite simply, one of the greatest shows I've ever seen. Music, performance, singing, dancing, lighting, the set, every aspect is flawless. It's a sensory overload. Seeing such a large group of artists putting together a huge spectacle in perfect synchrony is awe-inspiring. If you're into music and liked the movie, don't hesitate: the Broadway show is expensive, but definitely something to do at least once in a lifetime.
Most if not all seats offer a decent to good view, since the theatre isn't big. One point of critique is at least some first floor seats are constantly hit by a rush of freezing air that couldn't be stopped since it was told to us lights needed it. I'm sure they can think of something else, since putting customers in a freezer shouldn't be a valid solution. That's one star detracted from an otherwise excellent experience.

Watched it twice, would definitely do it again with absolute great please... Absolutely recommended musicle.
Where do i begin... Got the tickets to Moulin Rouge, was expecting the original songs and somewhat interesting show, but when it started, i was mind-blown. The cast, costumes, songs were redone and the entire show was outstanding. The room was not huge and even though i got the inexpensive tickets, the stage was well visible. The staff in the theater are very friendly (as long as you comply with rules and regulations) and professional to communicate with. Over all, i want to go to the show again as the entire show was super enjoyable and i personally did not want it to end. Thank you for this amazing and beautiful remake of the show.
Lieneke
This musical exceeded my expectations. If you have watched the movie, you will be able to recognize some medleys and sing along. But be prepared to be surprised with some new elements as well. The singing and dancing was extraordinary good! The vibe was amazing and the decor was beautiful. My company was not into musicals, but have been converted thanks to this show! 😃 If you are in NYC, treat yourself and go to Broadway!
joyride4324
Fantastic show! The cast was amazing, set was impeccable and I loved the songs from the early 00! So fun!
Phillip Johnston
This is a clever musical using current song lyrics to tell an age old story. It's a very mechanical show and very visual too. Lots of set changes, beautiful by the way and great costumes. The actors and chorus all have great voices and really delivered the evening we were there.
Neil Proud
Stunning set design, amazing performance from the cast, the songs were expertly conducted and performed. Amazing show, go and see it if you can ... Can can can can
Hugo Maestá
Not a huge fan of musicals, but this one was really fun to watch. Great story, incredible performers and unbelievable scenery production.
I know it’s a lot of money for a show —especially if you are a foreigner like me—, but make yourself a favor and buy a better seat than I did.
Bonnie Debbo
The Moulin Rouge play was out of this world good. Each performer put their soul into it and the quality of the vocalists was amazing. Top notch performers and singers. It had the WOW factor. Definitely worth it. So amazing. ❤

My first time going to a play and I have a wonderful time. Moulin Rouge was an excellent play. The actor were phenomenal. The singing was fantastic. I am taking my husband to see it. The only issues I had was the theater was small so we were like packed sardines and during intermission, the restrooms were so crowded, we went to the corner bar to use the restroom.
Ari Jiang
Amazing lighting and beautiful set. Very fun and humorous. Love the guy who plays Herald. The singing isn’t as good as some other shows prob bcs there’s a wide range of styles they need to sing. Personally I prefer original songs written for plays but if you like pop song throwbacks and remixes this is the show for you.
Wish the cast was more diverse.
Anthony
I'll preface this with this was my first show in NY so I don't have anything to compare it to locally. The venue was very nice, the set was incredible and just visually very interesting. The seating is set up that just about any seat you get is a good one. The seats are very close together, maybe worse than an airplane so be prepared to be touching knees with your neighbor. I think the best part of the show was the ensemble. They were mostly in sync and put on a great show. The primary actors were OK, the singing wasn't anything too special and the acting was a little rough. I'm not sure if it was meant to be a little tongue in cheek or not but it was a bit high school esque. They did swap out one primary actor at intermission and the replacement had more chemistry with their co-star and was a better fit to me. Overall, it was fun but I might recommend another show if you're visiting New York and wanting to see a show for the first time.
Rikki Wright
Incredible show. Cleverly weaving contemporary pop songs into the narrative of the script. Wonderfully acted and sung. The sets were unbelievable and really added to the atmosphere of the show. Wow... just wow!
Daniel Parker
Mind-blowingly fun. A riot from start to finish. Must see musical theatre that has done an amazing job and maintaining the originals nostalgia while adding the latest and greatest songs. You will want to song along the entire time! Go see it if you are on the fence and reading this review.
Kem Core
A must see show. Beautiful stage props, phenomenal cast with clear pitches and tones. Engaging, emotional, and wonderfully done.

If I can put it in one single word, and still won't even come close to do it justice it's a simple WOW, merci a tous l'ensemble, c'est un show INCREIBLE!!!!!!
Steph V
It is intermission and so far, cast is amazing, show is amazing, backstage crew is amazing, music is creatively spliced together. What a wonderful surprise of a show! 👐 Bravo to the creators, performers and crew! …

Worth EVERY penny!
Great show.
Awesome sets and lighting effects.
Story and songs slightly vary from the movie of the same name, but barely noticeable.
Suitable for adults or mature teenagers with an eye for great theater!!!
Matthew Magnifico
Such a good show. One of the best I've seen in my life at least. We were the right side of the left orchestra section and missed some of the scenery. Best seats in my opinion would be like center orchestra ten rows back.
S Burnett
Pros: The show was amazing! The venue is very historic and beautiful.
Cons: The seats are tight and there is no handicap accessibility to the upstairs seating.
Marilyn Rios
I did not enjoy this show. Small theater most of the seating was mezzanine. You could not see well. It was suppose to be a love story. They turned it into a comedy. No original songs. They were all artists from the 90's and 2000 I did not enjoy it at all very disappointed.
James Jenkins Jr.
Love this Saturday matinee performance. Truly a beautiful Broadway show.
jordan nizich
Show was excellent. Cast was amazing. Music was tailored to pop culture references. Lots of funny moments. Very inpressed with the whole production.
elena gonzalez
The show was fun mix of music, humor, and a lil drama. Very colorful, even festive.
Michael Crane
What a show! We're all huge fans of the film so were understandably nervous.
Yes, there are changes but they are great, no they don't sing all the same songs but they sing plenty of belters!
The performance just got better and better right til the amazing finale!
Definitely one not to miss. See it wherever you can.
Melissa Grech-Attard
Such an amazing show and performance! Loved the different songs they used but also kept it original! Not a bad seat in the house once it is a smaller theatre. Sat in the first mezzanine and didn't miss a thing.
R G
Absolutely loved loved the musical! What an amazing performance by all! However the people that work at this theatre are RUDE!!! I go to musicals a few times a year, this by far was the worst experience that I ever had at a theatre, from an usher! My daughter and I were taking a selfie before the show started she approached us, with a loud voice and said NO PICTURES!! Keep in mind the musical had not even started it was 20 mi before! This woman was on a power trip, she said I’m walking away, but I can see you from the back!!! That was completely unnecessary for her to say!! Fortunately her attitude and power trip did not ruin the amazing experience we had with the musical!
Megan Hart
So out of all the shows to see in NY, if you're coming from outta town I'm sure you'll love it - as someone that's seen a few and lives here I left feeling mixed. The set is the saving grace, as well as some star performances...however the plot is cringey; at times my face was actually in my hands. Also oddly, this musical doesn't have an original score! I was surprised - only 2/3 written ones, the rest were just a mix of pop songs (Elton John, Gaga, Spears, Adele, etc) which made for some not so great transitions. Felt at moments like I was at a choir as they were just singing at me, but there were def dynamic moments, although few.
With that being said was very memorable and still had a great time and got a laugh. Just a warning for those looking to drop $100-200 on a ticket..check other options too.
Andrew Bloom
The show was fun, sexy, romantic and very musical. Updated music from the movie, but the storyline follows basically. A great adaptation all around. The audience interaction at the end was really fun!
J Goldie
Great play! Loved it. Definitely one to see. Good music and funny.
Brian K Sigley
Enjoyed the show more than I thought I would. Much better than the movie.
I will say, they need more usher service than standing at the bottom of the stairs and telling you to go upstairs. Yes, I get we're adults and can read letters and numbers, but some direction would be nice.
Libra Scorpio
This is a modern Broadway musical, but my tastes are more to the classical. The setting was excellent; the storyline was creative, and the singing and acting were wonderful. On the negative, the music was very loud and the no photo/ taping rule was ignored by some patrons.
Giovanna Sori
The show was absolutely amazing the dancers work so hard to put on this peice of art! Would recommend it to anyone and the music choices were perfection! I also really enjoyed the stage effects!
Veronica Kelly
It was incredible!! The story was enticing and easy to follow, the show itself was showy, very bright and loud, and was extremely entertaining. The voices were incredible!! Ran about 2 hours and 45 minutes. Would gladly go again.
Wyatt Sefcik
Wow.... This show was absolutely PHENOMENAL!!! It's so hard to describe with words. If you are a fan of the movie, you will adore every second of this production. If the music wasn't enough.... The sets are to DIE for. The lights are strategically placed. The decorations are stunning.
Being here made me feel like I was part of the Bohemian revolution. Freedom, Beauty, Truth, and Love.
donna callaghan
Sadly, 5 is the most stars.
An amazing show, so cleverly scripted as songs. Way exceeded my expectations.
If you're looking for a great night out, be entertained and wowed by a complete spectacle, get yourself down to Moulin Rouge! Yes, you can can can.....
Orlando M

KSalone00
Our experience was super lovely! It began with John in the box office. He was super kind and patient with us as we consulted the best section for our pleasure and budget! The cast was fantastic! Great show
Tony Weber
A visually appealing show with current popular music within (& some originals also), great acting, and a terrific life message.
Olga Kozlova
Wow! I’ve seen many Broadway musicals and I can tell you that Moulin Rouge is a fantastic performance. It starts with the pre show adult only provocative moments (so come early 10-15 minutes before the musical begins) and ends with the confetti of hearts. There are some many moments that will impress you such as music and choreography, talented artists who performs like it’s a best show of their life. This is a one of the greatest musicals of all times!!!
P.S. I know ticket prices are high around $150-200 per ticket, my suggestion buy it from TKTS Discount Booths (you can find it behind the steps on Times Square) They offer Same-Day Theatre Tickets at Up To 50% Off!!! It’s not an advertising, usually that’s where I buy my own tickets. I’ve paid $210 for 2 tickets in orchestra middle section, row 7. The view was amazing.
Kelley Wolatz
Aaron C Finley you were just amazing tonight. You were the star of the show and have such a phenomenal voice. Congratulations and I feel honored to have seen Moulin Rouge with you as Christian! I hope you get the opportunity again.
Aimee Robidoux
AMAZING!!!! the actors, sets, costumes, choreo.... everything was so wonderful. Would love to see this again!
Danene Balint
Amazing performance, it was better than I even expected. It had many original and funny moments you wouldn’t have seen anywhere else. The set design and costumes were to die for too!
Bret Harmen
Great show! No suitable for young kids.
Christine Nopper
Best show ever!! The cast was amazing!!!! I would see this show over and over again!
Nancy Laracuente
The theater is beautifully well put. The show is outstanding. The performers played beautifully always busy dancing all the time I have to give it to them they perform and they gave a very good show I recommend

One of the greatest things I've ever seen in my life. This was my first brodway experience and I loved it so so so so much. There was only one thing I didn't like, but it's just because the Moulin Rouge is my favorite movie of all time and I'm protective over it haha but I didn't like how they brought another character who doesn't exist in the film to sing nature boy and "teach" Christian the lesson about "the greatest thing you'll ever learn...", because this is something that Christian learns after his romance with Satine and after losing her. He doesn't understand love in the beginning, but that's what their story is about.
So I didn't like this small detail, but honestly, it doesn't make you like the show any less. It's beautiful, amazing. The performers are fantastic. I'd love to see it again.
Jack Chang
Had am amazing fun time at the Show! Though main male cast was switched in mid show, which was a bit distracting. We enjoyed every moment still, not sure about the ending as I didn't get closure form it (bad guy didn't pay for what he did lol!) and seems a bit lazy haha.
Alysha Edelman
Where do I begin??? The set is GORGEOUS!!!!!! When you walk to your seat, you are mesmerized by the moving windmill and elephant... The lights, chandeliers, music and red glow of it all!! It's out of this world! The show is exquisite - superb! A must see!
Elizabeth Sunderland
Amazing set, costume and performances. They changed the plot in a weird way. Almost making Christian a bad guy. Christian threatens to kill Satine in the end. It felt really toxic and cringe. If they just changed that it would have been 5 star!
Diane MB1963
Was given a weekend in the city with tickets to Moulin Rouge as a wedding gift.
This play was FABULOUS! The music got people out of their seats. I'd see it again. So much fun, I came home and downloaded the soundtrack.
Allen
Had an amazing amazing time watching Moulin Rouge on Broadway! The performances were great and nostalgic songs really got the crowd going. Would recommend to anyone who wants to see a lively show.
Sandra
Spectacular with so many modern pop songs weaved into it that will make you want to sing and dance!
Hasanain Hasan
Super fun and entertaining musical show, has party vibes.
The theatre is descent classic theatre.
Patricia Osorio Domínguez
Excellent performance and quality of artistic production. Excellent actors and music 🎶 Congratulations 🎉 …
Ben
It was such a great show! It had lots of high energy fun scenes with awesome music. It's a must see show.
Pascal Abukhalil
Show Ticked all the boxes. Wow. Absolutely the best broadway show I have seen so far. Great cast, acting, music, entertainment, lighting, decor. If I could give it 7 stars, I would.
Kathleen Creveling
Family Christmas present, stunning sets and outstanding entertainment from all the actors. I love the prequel appearance of the performers prior to opening of 1st Act. My daughter was jazzed.
Kristan S
I've seen a few plays before, lion king, beauty & the beast, hello dolly, cats....
This is the BEST play I've ever seen. From start to finish they keep you engaged. Before the play starts the cast is on stage, walking and posing about very seductively. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, wanting to sing every song with the cast. Oyoyo Joi as Satine is something I'd wished I saw ad a child. Her voice and acting was enthralling, not to mention the outfits 🔥🔥. Derek Klena has one of the strongest voices I've ever heard. This man could sing a storm to sleep.
Would absolutely go see it again.
EMC
Great show!!! The cast, the score and the production was first-rate! A must see!
dee Gee
Amazing cast, full of talent and a pleasure to watch. Highly recommended 👌 …
Felix Rieckmann
I did not like the movie, but really enjoyed this. Came in with low expectations and left highly entertained by the exuberant energy, the exciting choreography of the whole show, really, and the strong singing and partially even acting. I forget what the antagonist is called in the show, but that actor steals the show to the point that I was rooting for him to get the girl and kill the hero. It is absolutely terrible, this trend of turning movies into shows and leaving little to no space for the Sondheims of tomorrow (where in the world did Adam Guettel disappear to?) - but I cannot help it, this was great fun!
Florencia Cariddi
Excellent play. Everyone on the stage was really professional. And all the songs are hits! It's excellent no dude 💪 …
Steve Hoskinson
Great show - But the theatre seating is very poor. You continually have to look around the head of the person sitting in front of you.
Collectively you would miss about 25% of the show. Plus it is very frustrating.
Alex Skywalker
I loved the show. The actors and the settings are amazing. Just be aware that the songs they use are mostly not original of the film but taken from hits.
john Gallagher
Wonderful experience me and my wife will never forget how good the show was, great songs, new updated ones, charismatic cast, perfect
Tara Wierzba
The theater and set were top notch!!! Literal perfection. The musical numbers were choreographed beautifully and were creative and fun! Sahr Ngaujah( Toulouse) stole the show. His acting was amazing.
Aaron Tveit (Christian) had a great voice, but his acting was underwhelming. Ashly Loren’s(Satine) voice was absolutely beautiful!
The movie had a magic that I didn’t feel in the show. The chemistry wasn’t there between Christian and Satine as far as the love story goes. There was no conclusion or end game in the Duke. The show could have had an opening night of their play like in the movie, and put on an amazing dance and song ensemble. It fell way short and completely rushed in wrapping the story up. Huge disappointment and failure to recreate the magical love story that made the movie great.
The dance resembles were great but out of sync at times.
Positives: very entertaining! The set is nothing short of AMAZING. The set alone recreates a lot of the magic from the movie.
The added song medley’s and dance ensembles were fantastic. Very well choreographed, and executed.
Overall, we enjoyed it. The theater was amazing. I was underwhelmed with the chemistry between the two main, and the rushed ending. I really looked forward to seeing opening night of their play, and the finale ensemble and romantic tragedy that it would entail. We didn’t get that. She walks out on the duke and she and Christian have a talk sing their song and it’s done. It almost felt as though they improvised a quick lending to end it, that’s how much it lacked from the original. It didn’t resonate emotionally at all. For such a beautiful and emotional story, they fell short in that area. I loved the new
Song medleys, but did feel they focused more on those than the actual story and even changed the story to relate to some of the songs (which again, were great) but completely disregarded the magic of the love story. I felt as though their true purpose was the introduction of the new songs over recreating the magic and tragedy between Satine and Christian: Where the medleys excelled, the story lacked. It felt like the love story was told in outline form with great song medley’s and dance numbers as filler.
Toulouse was the star . He really shined. Sidler was amazing as well. Ashly Loren’s voice was top notch, whereas her acting fell a bit short. I felt she was there doing her J-O-B, not a woman in love. Zero chemistry. Maybe an off night for her, but she did shine in her spectacular voice and some of her performance. The passion just felt dry.
Christian had a great voice, but felt he fell wait short on his acting. Moulin Rouge is a love story, an extremely magical one. The broadway show is not. It’s a musical filled with modern song medley’s and dance ensembles. I felt that’s where the focus was and the story slipped through the cracks.
It is worth the watch. The theater and set alone is five stars! The vocals were great as well.
Marty Krist
Very good show but sound quality and overall visibility was poor in our seats, row W, and there should have been a warning or disclosure.
Hannah Perkins
Even better than I could have hoped for! Stunning sets, beautiful singing voices, I'm so glad we got the opportunity to see this show.
Karen P
My favorite movie and the play, although they were different, it was equally wonderful. Additional song that made you smile. Excellent cast.
Cristian Lopez
Great show. the performers were very talented , but they needed to hire new bartender drinks where awful 😖 …
Deborah Dunlap
Phenomenal Show! Stellar singing, seamless production. Top notch! The best show I have ever seen!
peter lefferman
The female lead in the show was as good a performer as I've seen the male singer was also very good excellent show definitely worth seeing good strong talent in every role
michelejazzy
Loved the show. Performers were awesome. We were in row D center stage which is 2nd row. They were perfect seats.
Robert Sawyer
So it was good, however not as good as the movie. But, to be fair, the movie was a masterpiece that even Baz himself has not replicated since.
All in all its very good and well performed.
Alexis Holmok
Blown away by the performance I saw on 10.18 only complaint is how exhausting it was constantly having to pick my jaw off the floor
Bruno Casolari
It was a visually stunning, fun musical with familiar pop tunes performed by power-house voices. Some adult themes and visuals. Would highly recommend.
Dan Keller
Truly the best thing I've seen on stage. Absolutely eye-popping dancing and choreography, the best vocalists, and a powerful story.
Shelley M73
Brilliant show. Definitely my favourite ever. Really vibrant with a great soundtrack.
Ilse Peterson
Took my three daughters and we all 100% loved it!! This is the Broadway show to watch. Trust me.
Patrick Young
Show was absolutely fantastic and the best singing I’ve ever heard live! The music choice was impeccable and I felt the play was worth every penny. Can’t recommend this show enough. It was so good that I feel like going twice. The actress who played Satine had a beautiful voice, the performances were great and emotionally charged, and i was on the edge of my seat the whole time. The dance choreography during Bad Romance was particularly well done. 10/10 would recommend attending this show!
Brendan
Wow, now this is a musical. I have seen my fair share of Broadway musical but the music, the plot, the acting. It was amazing. We flew from San Diego to see this and totally worth it.
danny hawman
This show swept the Tony Awards for a reason. The cast was outstanding, the set was mind blowing. Brilliantly brought a familiar film to life while keeping it fresh and exciting.
Diogo Botelho
Best sets I've ever seen, the choreographies and spectacle are off the charts throughout the whole show and the musical arrangements are either impressive, fun, or both! Strong recommendation!
Rachael Hill
Moulin rouge is one of my favourite films and this was a real treat to see in NYC with my other half. However we was slightly disappointed that the cancan table area was so cramped! You pay more to be squashed between other people and a security guard whilst getting a neck ache from looking up. No idea why they put a table in there as no food or drink is allowed in that section?! Seating plan online showed more room than there actually was. Also disappointed with the lack of songs from the actual film - very well presented and it all looked amazing but some humour was lost on my British self.
Robert Baratheon
Great show. Lively. Funny. Great updated music mashups. Lose a point because el tango de Roxanne needs that raspy voice from the original Moulin Rouge. It was perfect as it was but in the context of the show I understand why the change was made. But they get that deducted star returned because it has the best and most fun ending ovation sequence of any Broadway show I have ever seen.
Karen Maassen
Loved it! Gorgeous show. Nice twist on the movie with new song mash- ups added in, beautiful costumes and phenomenal dancing. Highly recommend to all you musical fans!!!❣️
Daniel conte
For the first time in a long time a male had/has a voice to compete with the female lead. The show was terrific. I thought the stage setting was amazing as were the sets throughout the show. I also thought , how are they going to pull this off? In the end it was BETTER THEN THE MOVIE! I loved it.
Christina Fusco
Wow, the set designs in this production were incredible!! And the song mashups were so much fun! It's not just the movie soundtrack but includes other contemporary songs from all decades and cross-genres. The theater was also surprisingly small, so even the back seats have a good view!
Geeky Stuff
The show was amazing, it really was! What I didn't like was the can-can tables location. Pay more for neck ache, you're so tightly cramped with other people and throughout the performance you're actually trapped in there as the stage wraps around them. You can't even eat or drink in that area! Don't get the can-can seats, that's my advice.
alyssa meyer
The experience was fun! I would have liked to see more original music. They used all the top pop songs wich was great for audience engagement but lacked the originality I was hoping for.
Felipe Vasquez-Encamilla
Spectacular and delightfully brilliant show! The set design is absolutely exceptional as well as, of course, all the talented performers.
A must see on Broadway.
Oliver Zauner
Between the movie and productions in other cities this was hands down my favorite. Just amazing 😍 …
Erica Moulton
Amazing show don't miss this one! No bad seats in Hirschfield Theater.
Janet Cugini
Great show! Lots of memorable music and dancing.
Brian S Heinrich
Boyfriends first time seeing a Broadway show. This was a great one to see. With the modern music mixed in made it very enjoyable.
Atul Sinha
This show is absolutely electrifying! My wife was on the edge of her seat the entire show. Definitely a must see while in NYC.
Crystal
I absolutely loved the show it was amazing and I would definitely recommend anyone to check it out!
If this Okie is ever back in town visiting I will definitely see the show again!
Carol Steele
Amazing show. Set was fantastic and the singers were superb. Will definitely be back.
Eric Sterling
This was my first ever Broadway show and it did not disappoint!! We were so glad that we chose Moulin Rouge! The musical theater historians and connoisseurs may criticize this rendition as it replaced some of the original songs with modern pop classics, but this made it fun to sing along for the casual fan or tourist. I loved it! The props and stage were first class as was the dancing and obviously the singing. It was literally a top notch light show and concert, and live action film all wrapped in one! Worth more than the price of admission! A must see!!!
Joseph Wladkowski
What a phenomenal show!!! From the moment you enter the theater, you are transported to the Moulin Rouge! The entire cast is phenomenal, and it's hard to tell who is having more fun throughout the show: them or the audience! The show opens on a huge high note and the energy level never falters the entire time!
In addition to the superbly talented cast and orchestra is also all the phenomenal technical work, which often goes unrecognised. The audio and lighting technicians really outdid themselves with this show. Everything sounds perfect throughout the entire performance, and the lighting is just WOW. Especially compared to some other major shows running on Broadway right now.
Would I go again? Absolutely! Would I recommend that everyone go see this right now? Most definitely!
LiAn VeAl
Great theatre. You feel like you're in the Moulin Rouge! Can Can seats are pretty cool (Need to wear K/N95 masks if seated here)
Theatre is clean.
Show is great and a lot of fun!
志豪洪
Too beautiful to wink. I don't wanna miss any moment to receive this amazing image of the show

Tyria Stokes
Amazing show! Loved how they infused popular songs! Stage settings and lighting was impeccable! Sat in the last row at top and did not feel slighted at all! Matinee show, full house, and great energy!
Casey Coughlin
Loved it BEST SHOW A MUST SEE
Keeka Productions
Best musical I've EVER seen! Can't wait to go again!
Sven
It's an amazing musical, that someone can enjoy even without having to be a musical fan. They use a lot of known songs to spice up the show and it's fun across the whole 90 minutes.
Cindy Fleming (Cindy Fleming)
Beautiful theater. The set for Moulin Rouge was amazing.
T Boogie
The music was great. The line for the female bathroom was extremely long. After some time the men's bathroom turned into a gender neutral bathroom.
Marianna Tolo
Soooo great. Awesome music and performances. Loved it!
Bob Rozenfeld
Nice show to attend! Actors were playing great! Thank you!
Karen
I loved Moulin Rouge... beautiful stage and costumes. The dancing and songs they sang were terrific. It's probably the best show I've seen!!
Peleg 132
The best show I've seen so far, amazing actors with amazing voices.
Very good efects and decoration, I 100% recommend this show.
Ana Zapata
Very good show at al hirschfield theatre, seating was pretty tight... We were at mezzanine level and although you could technically see the entire stage there was definitely some parts that were up front that were obscured from our seating we were aisle N13&15 but still was able to see everything. Definitely a tight fit with the seats but that was expected with old Broadway theaters, the cast was amazing beautiful voices the story itself was pretty similar to the movie so I'm not sure if that's why it wasn't as magical but I've seen phantom of the opera done in movies and even television episodes and seeing that on Broadway was incredible, I just thought I'd love moulin rouge more than I think I did. Also the bathrooms where crazy men is all the way upstairs at the mezzanine level but women's was 2 floors down lucky for me I didn't have to go but the amount of people rushing out during intermission was a bit daunting post covid but that is the new norm so I can't complain much, they did have masks available from a dispenser when you come in, couldn't even get a drink those lines were also crazy long
Mohammed Yusuf
Phenomenal. Absolutely outstanding. I didn’t know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised.
Monica C
We visited on a Weekday and it was booked out. Book in advance. It is loud but exciting from the beginning to the end

Antonella Babino
Best broadway show I have EVER seen. Not even exaggerating. I would come back, this time to a more expensive seat (I was quiten far) it’s worth every dollar
Hamid Nassery
Excellent show, and I am not musical lover! Highly recommend.
Tasha Poduska
I guess I should have done more research on this version of Moulin Rouge, it was good and it's using a variety of popular songs well, I just liked the original soundtrack from the movie so much, that I was disappointed that it was different. Also the lead sang "Roxanne", who has a alto/tenor voice and not the low bass scratchy sound I wanted. Theater was smaller than I thought it would be, so it's not the traditional Broadway show. Next in New York, I'll stick to a classic.
Abby Oyola
I saw thia show and it has been one of the most extraordinary experiences of my life. I love musicals and having the opportunity to see it live made me love them more. Although I thought I was going to see Aaron Tveit as Christian
Karen Nelson
One of the best musicals I’ve ever seen! My cheeks hurt from smiling.
Wicked Gypsy
The actors, stage, music and costumes were absolutely outstanding. I will see it again. I love it 😍!!!!!! …
Tyrone White
Just do yourself a favor and go and see it. I was a huge fan of Baz Luhrman’s version in high school and this rendition did not disappoint. It was sooo sexy and so much fun. Such a thoughtful update that preserves just enough of the original score to make it nostalgic while infusing enough different hits to keep it fresh.
Shane Kusterman
What a wonderful show. Satine was played by Ashley Loren and she was just on another level. Must see!
Marsha
I think this is one of the best musical Broadway shows I've been to! The cast and crew were amazing. The performance did not disappoint. I think the show is much better than the movie. I will definitely come back and watch Moulin Rouge again.
Eva Suriani
One of the best and definitely the sexiest show. Beautiful costumes, great voices.
Denitsa Kosharova
Outstanding show - the cast, the set, the costumes, the music - everything was absolutely top notch. Entertaining, heartwarming, heartbreaking...better than the movie. 10/10
Roshani P
Truly outstanding. You can see how and why they won so many Tony awards. What a fun and romantic evening on Broadway . Loved every minute .
Seats are pretty steep so one show I would say is worth sitting closer in. Either front of mezz or orchestra seems like an incredible place too
Landon Smith
Fantastic. Emotional, funny, beautiful show!
Joshua Hellmann
Just awesome! Got goosebumps several times during the show. Highly recommended!!
Lynn Hunter
Great show, loved the introduction og modern music. Highly recommend!

I can't say enough good things about this show. The performers, choreography, setting, costumes, etc were all SPECTACULAR, SPECTACULAR! It was so good that my daughter and I have dive downloaded the soundtrack and followed them on social media. We absolutely LOVED this show!
Eric Stamler
Cast could have been more attractive, it is NYC Broadway, felt like cruise ship performance
Julian K.
A really great musical and absolutely recommendable. The different songs that were brought together and partly result in whole conversations was fascinating. Sexy actors and top played.
Claribel Santiago
This is a most see show. Loved it, theater is beautiful.

Dale Duncan
I found out I’d be in NYC (I live in Atlanta) two weeks before I got there, so I went online to book some tickets to Moulin Rouge.
I always like to get really good seats when I see a show.
I noticed that several of the closest seats (the “Can Can” seats) were available. I also noticed that from row 3 onward, it was almost booked solid.
In hindsight, I know why.
New Yorkers are SMART!
I was excited to get to see the show up close, so I bit the bullet and splurged for the top seats in the house. Front corner Can Can…
About a week later, I thought…I’m going to NYC...I should check the mask policy. The blue states have tended to keep the mask rules tighter…
The current policy for Broadway shows as of August 2022 is “Masks Optional”....except…each show gets to decide.
I saw three shows while I was there.
Uh oh…Did I just pay premium dollar for Moulin Rouge to sit in the top seats for 2.5 hours in a mask even though I’m quadruple vaxxed? And even though there are treatments and the disease has essentially become endemic?
I did.
And not just a mask…but you have to wear an N95.
Whoops. Should have bought tickets 3rd row or back…way cheaper, and I could have eaten and drank.
These are first world problems, but still.
They are serious at the theater….it felt like middle school with a really mean teacher enforcing the rules and rabid middle school peers around you making sure you followed the rules…complete with ridicule if you didn’t.
So, those $45 dollar drinks you just bought? They will sit right there on the floor.
The hypocrisy of policies like this and the attitudes that it creates in the people who are rabid about them are the reason we will get Republicans in charge…
I saw a quote today by a well known left wing liberal…”I will endure the inconvenience of wearing a mask just so that people don’t think I’m a conservative”.
And pre-Covd? I was a left wing liberal. Now, I’m rethinking.
Hypocrisy never wins the day.
Nathaniel Franklin
There's not much to say about this show that hasn't been said. From the set to the performances and choreography, it's all perfection. If you get the chance to see this show, do it!
GuyZa
A great experience, the show is breathtaking, the colors and sounds surround you. , the plot follows the the one in the movie , the songs got a fresh update, I saw the show on June and the theater was freezing, the air-con on full blast.
Suban Ashfaq
The theater and stage was beautiful. The story was one dimensional and filled with pop songs. I wish there was more emotion and story.
PV Riambon
One of the best shows ever. Songs have been updated.
M L
So happy that I went! If you are a fan of original movie, you’ll like it. If you aren’t, you’ll still like it, I bet.
Joanne Minerva
Amazing!!! One of the best shows I have ever seen
Nicholas Borsotto
Just impressive and a great show for those that are not musical Theater experts.
Cheryl Pagano
Amazing from start to finish. Highly recommended seeing this show !
Steve Maidment
Great show well worth seeing
Monica Tripodi
If you love the movie you will definitely love the Broadway show. The actors put their heart and soul into every show.
Ekaterina Kashkin
Beautiful play! Must see! Worth of every penny spent. Actors are amazing!
Stacy Marie Dizon
The set was amazing even from afar you can see everything clearly. The cast was already in character even while the musical didn't start yet. If you are expecting that it would exactly be like the film, you are in for a suprise. It's nice that they incorporated the pop songs into the Musical.
Paul Cushman
What a great show. Wonderful sets, awesome singing and dancing. Such energy, from an excellent cast. Highly recommend this show.
Denis Keane
Outstanding! Such talent and a really fun show. Totally exceeded my expectations.

mike ciriello
We have seen many Broadway shows over the past many years and this show did not disappoint. The music and acting were fantastic and the overall vibe was fun and with high energy. Definitely recommend this as a must see show to add to your list. Need to keep in mind that based on the content, the show is recommended for those 12 years and up.
Andres Pracht
Amazing play! They've done an amazing work moving the show to the stage
Dana Chambers
The set, the performance, the costumes, the lighting was beautiful. Well put together production. Will recommend it to others and will see it again.
Augustus Riviere
Brilliant stage setup and ambiance in the théâtre. The show was very entertaining. Lovely choice to enjoy an brilliant arrangement of popular tunes. The story line will make you laugh and leave you in tears. Brilliantly done in its entirety
Idelfonso Diaz
Amazing show experience, actors and actresses were SO expectacular . Definitely worth it.
Dasha Prudnikova
The performance itself was incredible, the costumes, the acting and the dancing but I didn't really enjoy all the pop songs being mixed in and switched every 2 seconds.
Claire Ashbrook
Arrival and covid/security check a little less organized that other nearby theatres, but staff were polite and helpful and we waited no more than 15 minutes to get in and to our seats. Theatre is brilliantly decorated which helped atmosphere. Mask wearing was enforced which I appreciated. Fabulous show with a great cast, a really fun night. Due to use of the catwalk and being (literally) in the back row of the balcony there were a few points we missed some of the action but nothing that spoiled our enjoyment.
Yevheniia Sukhorukova
OMG!!! It was something amazing!! Performance is awesome!! You have to see it your self to understand what I'm talking about!!!! Beautiful 😍
I would like to say, thank you, to staff!! Guys on the entrens was very helpful and understanding!! Thank you so much!! I want to say thank you and low bow to those who was performing today, guys you are awesome!!!! 👏👏👏😍
regina osullivan
Fantastic show, the modern music was integrated in the story so well.
SUSAN ALLEN
First Broadway show for my 18 year old granddaughter and I. We really enjoyed it. If given the opportunity, would see it again. Performers were awesome, music was great.
Randall Henderson
Excellent and unexpected with wonderful surprises that expand and increase the movie! WOW. What a cast and what a performance! Ashley Loren and Derek Klena radiate chemistry as the leads with incredible talent and commitment and trust in their fellow cast. Sahr Ngaujah and Declan Bennett flesh out the performance beautifully with touching moments (Ngaujah) and sinister (Declan) hate-ability.
While I liked the movie, I absolutely LOVE this show. The set is a total commitment to the fantastical setting of old France and theater but yet draws you into the intimacy of true love.
But what really sets this show apart is the music. The music, the music, the music. It is a brilliant mash up of the hits of yesterday and today, which flow together incredibly well and take you on a soaring journey of emotion which brought tears to my eyes several times.
When the last note rang out, I couldn't wait to spring to my feet with hoots and hollers.
Amazing job writers and cast. Thank you for an incredible night!!!
Ben Diamond
Best Musical this trip. Not to be missed.
Barbara Liptak
I absolutely love the show. The scenes that they kept changing were exquisite. The costumes were absolutely beautiful and the talent was beyond what could I say. You really have to go see it to believe it it's worth every penny.
Steve Wycowsky
Instant reminder of why in person is better then behind a screen.
Feeroj Shams
Amazing show making for a wonderful time all around.
Shree Maatre NamaH
Wow such an enjoyable show, music was great, cast were amazing. Had a very pleasant evening.

Jasmaine P
Awesome show.... great acting... great singing.
SY C
The show was amazing!! I wish we had a seat on 1st floor.
Ana Paula Diniz
The show was fantastic, I loved it very much. However, my seat (row A, seat 11), it's not good. It seems I was in the fridge. The air conditioner was above my place. Next time I will try another place.
Dannielle Rice
There are no words to describe the talent of these artists! Leaves you breathless. Past amazing experience. My one comment to those buying tix; buy down low. There is a lot of movement down low on the sides and I wish I'd bought down low. Set design, the music Mashups, costumes...just can't say enough! GO!!!!
Katerina Luchistaya
Absolutely gorgeous show! I'm impressed!!! Must!!
Kailee Toth
The best Broadway show I have EVER seen. A++ performance!!!

First Broadway show I’ve ever been to. Okay so the stage and show were absolutely stunning, every detail of decor in this theater was taken into consideration. When you step inside you are instantly whisked to what is the Moulin Rouge. Upon entry we purchased drinks. I got a $5 bottle of water. The actors and actresses were perfect. The show itself is absolutely top notch. However the seating is absolutely dreadful. From what I could tell all the seat sizes are identical from the front row all the way to the lotto seats. The first huge mistake was buying the cheap seat in the very back row at the very top of the theater. Mezz T 2-8 were our seats. I’m a plus size girl size 22/24 and 2X and I’m 5’6 & 1/2 inches tall. The width of the seat was very small. I managed to squeeze in and it was bearable especially with the intermission break. However the amount of room between the back of the seat to my seat was seriously about 3 -4 inches from the back of the seat in front of me. My legs were crammed into the back of their seats. It was so painful. I friends are shorter than me (and not plus size at all)and their knees were either touching or almost touching the backs of the other seats as well. I’m over 40 so my eyes needed to be closer to see details I’m sure I missed up close. Also when the actors are on the runway you can’t see them because of the overhang. We spent about 50% of the show leaning forward to try to see down further. All the rows immediately in front of us were doing the same. My advice is do yourself a favor if your eyesight isn’t what it used to be order closer seats. Also be 5’4 or shorter. My 3 stars are only in relation to the cramped uncomfortable seating. The show itself is 10 stars!
Angela Rondinella
Awesome show. You will be singing to the tunes with the cast
Fav Bal
Excellent show. Whether you get the understudy or the main actress, you won't be disappointed. Just a beautiful musical. I've been to the real Moulin Rouge in Paris and this is not the same thing except for the Can Can dance and 1 or 2 more others. This is like the movie where Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor come out. Except with more modern songs for the most part.
Desmond Cheong
Love the set design. Didn't like the sound engineering. Could hear mic popping when singer sang. Songs were a bit random. Sounded like a medley rather than a musical. Plot was a bit messy.
Victor Tirado
It was a great experience..I took my daughter for her birthday and she absolutely loved it..
Melissa Barnes
This is a nice theater that is comfortable for a 2+ hour show. I like that drinks at some shows are served in covered glasses for safety. I don't think there is a bad seat in the house!
Brooks Glenn
Great show! Really enjoyed all the updates music and the way the dialog used the lyrics and then shifted in to singing. Fun evening.
Nancy Farrell
This show did not disappoint! The characters were very talented... the music! Choreography! Costumes!
I enjoyed every minute of this play.... funny, sad, and sexy!!!
Keith Miller
Brilliant show, but chilly in the theatre during the show
Paul Nichols
What a brilliant, up to date, piece of musical theatre! Fantastic performances and great music. Seats in the stalls were perfect and theatre's covid health checks took no time at all. Very impressed.
YVONNE “LOVELY” GRANT

Alexander Paine
Most unbelievable thing that I've ever seen, this show will not disappoint. The set changes are unreal. Growing up, this has always been my favorite musical, and I never thought I could be wow'd more than the movie itself. I was delightfully wrong. You will not regret going to this show, and will remember it for the rest of your life. I could not possibly recommend going to this more, do not miss this one.
David Hopkinson
Sets, amazing, costumes, great, talent, top notch, overall show, meh. With the medley hell the show gets into it loses its emotional drive in favour of jamming in as many as the latest pop hits as it can. It also is missing a few of the numbers from the movie such as like a virgin.
Jon Springfield
Very good show, I was pleasantly surprised
Andi Lee Carter
Great show!! Loved it at least as much as I loved the movie and that’s a lot!
Bill Burtch

Jacob Heider
Absolutely great. Updated song list over the film, top notch performances. Go do it.
Paul Warren
First off, full disclosure that this is my favorite film musical of all time. That being said, you can’t do what Luhrmann did on stage, and the adaptation made some smart choices about how to capture the irreverent energy and musical slight of hand that I thought evolved the show in great ways.
The playlist has been updated, and the play on words and moods continues with an excellent cast who kept up an amazing level of physical energy all throughout and voices/acting of The Duke and Christian blew my socks off with Satine just a notch behind.
The sets were gorgeous and the background images and building cutouts had such a vivid and well crafted sense of depth and scale that I felt like I was in the movie - even from the bleacher seats.
Generally everyone was masked and well behaved, go as soon as you can!
Kathryn Clark Snyder
Speechless! No words can describe just how fantastic this show truely is! Just absolutely amazing
Toney Chavis

This is a great show for people that enjoying watching something light and funny musical filled with popular pop songs.
Alex Zhang
A must see show while you are in NYC. It’s not like the moulin rouge in Paris, it’s very contemporary with pop music featuring lady gaga, Britney Spears, Elton John, Katy perry a lot of songs you can sing along which makes it more entertaining. The cast are full of energy with a lot of dance moves. All the main characters have amazing voice. You really want a center seat in orchestra or mezz to enjoy the most. Side seats might have partial view.
Pro tip: lottery ticket available at luckseat.com but you need to be flexible on timing.

Just go. If you are reading reviews to help you decide, just go.
Probably the best musical I’ve seen on Broadway.
If I had to criticize something it would be the theater. We were siting in central mezzanine, not a terrible row, and missed some of the performances that happen near the orchestra. It was not necessary for the understanding of the play though.
I wanna see it again, for sure.
Heather

It's a great time and the music is incredibly fun. The sets are fantastic, and the performers were wonderful. The story was a bit simplistic and predictable, so set your expectations accordingly and it'll be a blast.

JTORRESINTHECITY
It's a wonderful theather and the current show "The Moulin Rouge" is a spectacular show. You are greeted by ushers and security when you first get there. They check for coivd vaccine cards and I'd. You must wear a mask throught out the entire show and if you don't usher or security will come to you and give you a friendly reminder to pick it up. After that you go through a security check point, you place your bags on the table where they do a quick look inside as you walk through a metal detector. After that you are in. All staff are friendly accommodating to there best ability. Great show for all ages and a must see for anyone.

Wow sensory overload. Updated from the movies with new songs. Definitely not for real young kids (risque dancing and dialogue). BRING EARPLUGS! Some sections of the show are like being beside the larger speaker at a night club, almost deafening. Spectacular, jaw dropping sets and staging - you see every dollar of your ticket price on stage. Talented performers and great dancing. Kind of a juke box show of modern pop hits packaged into a French vaudeville show (more about the songs than the story).
Stephen Truog
Everything I envisioned and more - they kept the best parts of the movie, mixed in the best of broadway extravagance and nailed all of the little details from the production to the theatre itself to the entire experience. Wow!
