I like small venues like this. The bar can be an issue though, as it's a cash bar ( as in no debit). But if you Like being up close this is a good place. Sound quality has been good both times I've been there . Fnding parking sucks. And it's Portland so expect to hang with the homeless while in line.

My brother and I went and saw Underoath's "Voyeurist" Tour with Spiritbox, Bad Omens, and Stray From the Path...
The venue has AMAZING sound, great food (they have pizza and ice cream 😃💜🙌 among other things) and more than enough space to accommodate even the largest of crowds comfortably.
There's plenty of security and staff in case anything should happen, the AC kept the place comfortable, and I really like that they have seating up on the balcony area for those that would rather sit during the show as opposed to stand for sometimes hours on end.
I come from Atlanta, where we have some of the BEST music venues around... And I'm more than impressed with The Roseland Theater.
I will be back and I'll be recommending it to my friends as well. 💜✌️

Well... I'll say this.. it was a cool little venue. Jacob Banks!! They had a cool little bar off to the side. I liked that. And!! The Trap kitchen was very, very delicious!! The customer service was excellent!! The staff was so helpful. I bought a extra ticket. They made it painless. It was third of the price of what it would be on line.

Standing room only for CHVRCHES and it sounded good. Makes me think of all those venues I used to frequent as a teenager so a very serious nostalgic feel for me.
I'd go see a show there again no problem.

A relatively small venue, just like we like them! Didn't know the venue before, will definitely be back, perfectly size to get enough energy for a metal concert while being a small crowd at the same time.

Roseland Theater has always been a great small to midsized venue. The staff are kind and considerate and willing to help get you through the processes of a show. Tonight I saw Rina Sawayama and it was an amazing show! The venue handled the sound and production flawlessly and the Roseland really is quite versatile. Don't pass on shows here, and if you're an artist touring definitely give them your consideration.

I have been coming to this venue for well over 20 years as both a performer and a fan in the crowd. Last show was aThrash metal trio! Testament, Exodus, and Death Angel. It's fills up elbow to elbow, standing room only for popular acts. Last show they were only accepting cash at the bar. Not sure if it's always like that, but just a heads up to bring paper money just in case.

Saw Slash w/Miles Kennedy and the Conspirators the other night...great show! We were 2 of the 7 that got to go in and watch the band soundcheck. The staff were very friendly, especially Cliff and my man with the gray and pointy beard (sorry I didn't get your name 😔). My brother Jimmy and I had an awesome time thanks to you guys....Let me not forget the opening act, Dead Sara...they killed it! Energy, sound quality and overall exuberance added to the show. Also, if Slash and Miles don't know their biggest fan, Kay from Seattle sees them many places they play. She's awesome 👌 👏 👍

Old school rock club ... poor acoustics, poor PA system but with total 80's retro vibe. Saw Echo and the Bunnymen. Really good show. Cash only venue. Use caution when attending shows here as the area has gone from sketchy to down right dangerous and only park in an enclosed garage like u.s. bank building.

Visited in October 2022. A charming little venue despite the uninviting Portland downtown at the time. Could use a little more attention in the restrooms, but the sound was quite good and it felt safe.
Jennifer Marie
I really enjoyed this haunted venue. it was a perfect place to see DED, BLACK VEIL BRIDES & IN THIS MOMENT! I prefer small venues like this. They're far more intimate than a huge space. Plus, the rumor is that the Roseland is haunted, so for me, that adds a welcomed point of difference. 🤍💋🖤 …

The Roseland Theater es probably the best venue to see a rock band in Portland. I saw The Killers and Candlebox a few years ago, it's perfect for rock shows, you can have a nice view from every single spot of the place. There is a convenient bar in the upper floor so you can have a drink in the balcony and avoid missing the show. It's not big, so the shows become kinda intimate. I love this place.

Awesome security and service. Saw a metal band. Couldn’t be happier with logistics. That is key. They ran out of pretzels by the first act and no replenishment. So that is not good. People are drinking and need some bread! Overall, go watch a show here!
Tom Enge
show was amazing. Security didn’t check everyone, saw people with flasks everywhere while security was busy playing on their phones. No seating, shoulder to shoulder, couldn’t move one step in either direction, we had VIP tickets but as soon as they let the rest of the people in they pushed themselves to the front almost knocking me down twice. Stood in one spot for 6 hours straight. Next time I’ll go to the Moda Center.

I came in from out of town. First time here. Security at this place have a reputation for being a bunch of hardasses, and they are, but at the same time, despite having a ticket, I thought it would be fun to see if at closer to 40 than 30, if I could still make it upstairs to the bar and then to a primo dance spot without showing ticket or ID, and I did. The act I saw killed it, they blew the roof off the MFer, and it was one of the best crowds I've ever been in, out of thousands of shows I been to. The audience energy was insane. Big ups to Portland on that. But the house sound mix was hot garbage. Just terrible. Like the worst I've ever witnessed. I recommend this venue to see a nationally touring act that doesn't often tour nationally, for a band you already know all the words to, and want to go crazy shouting them along. I do not recommend this venue to anyone who wants to hear music.
Lisa Ostrom
Saw a really good awolnation show here! Was easy to get drinks once you got upstairs. Venue is a good size but felt a little sketchy! Looked exactly the same as it did 20 years ago!
Laura Ryan
A great small venue. I had a blast seeing Alan Walker last night. The staff was friendly. The music volume and variety is prefect. The only thing I had issues is with is different time doors open and show end time on the website and my ticket door opens was a little bit confusing. I also do recommend bring cash with you for bars. If you do show up early before doors open dress warmly. It is right by the trimet stops on max and buses. It is in walking distance from union station. Just be extra cautious around night when there is a lot of homeless people walking around.
Robert Mitoma
Love seeing concerts here. Last one I saw was the Bay Strikes Back tour with Deathangel, Exodus, and Testament. It was a thrashtasic show.
amy chastagner
The venue was very clean and staff were very friendly and well organized. The process for getting in for our sold out concert was quick and the staff were communicative, helpful and professional while maintaining a safe and enjoyable concert experience. I've been to this theater a couple of times and have had consistently good experiences. Alcohol prices are pretty average and there are several places to get drinks both alcoholic and otherwise. Bathrooms are easy to locate and were clean even after the event. I look forward to future events here!
Patty T
So glad that Hombres G was booked at this venue. It was sold out considering that the concert was on a Wednesday! It would be a financially smart idea to schedule concerts that cater to the Spanish speaking community here in Oregon. People drove over an hour to come to this concert! My only gripe was that the bars were upstairs in the balcony area. The space was already packed and even more so with people lining up to by drinks.
anthony payne
Security Guard was packing smokers into smoking area like sardines and being unreasonable about it and breaking definate fire codes. The sound quality wasn't great at the Roseland either. But it was still somehow an awesome concert
Leabers oliver (leabers)
Small venue great sound. Balcony seating is tight and seats are confusingly labeled. Aside from tiny seats not for tall people it's a really good spot to see a show.
Sher R
As soon as I saw that All Time Low was playing at the Roseland Theater I new I was going! All Time Low is so awesome live and the Roseland Theater is the perfect venue! No matter where you are in the theater the view is great!
Britt Launius
The staff was friendly. The show is awesome! They had free water, which is always a plus! The bartender poured really good drinks and I think they served food downstairs. We checked our coats for $2 a piece. My only complaint is that I wish I would have known prior to getting there that the venue is cash only. But at least I have an ATM on site.
Peter Swartz
Love the Roseland. One of my favorite bands common kings sold out two nights in a row and it doesn't get any more metal than that.
Benjamin Graham
Great venue. Sound was amazing. Looking forward to coming back.
Toxy
Nice venue for a metal show 🤘 great sound quality & the main floor was pretty roomy, the upper seating area is a bit cramped. Unfortunately we were not permitted to leave and re-enter so be prepared to stay once you're in. Two bars; upstairs and downstairs. Only the upper bar was serving alcohol and drinks are not allowed to be taken to the main floor (to prevent under-age drinking) this combined with the lack of space made the upper bar feel way too small. Lower bar was serving non-alcoholic drinks at the main floor and its a little bigger. Worked well for an all-ages show!
Iam Zim
I absolutely love this venue. It's small and intimate. Some seating upstairs as well as a bar.
I've seen 30 Second to mars several times, Incubus & AWOLNATION twice at this venue, it never disappoints! The staff is always friendly and helpful. Grab a bite to eat downstairs if you don't have food restrictions (sadly No gluten free options for me)
Kally Shar
I was disappointed that there wasn't a coat check for the show and I was stuck holding it and my bag the whole time. But getting in was quick and painless and it was a lovely intimate space with great sound.
manny olivas
I love this venue so much!! The security are really chill, and they got a snack bar and everything and their pizza slaps!! Just one thing I wish they would do often and that’s hosting more edm events! But with 45 east and the north warehouse I’m pretty sure it’s more possible for them to book other genres, still doesn’t change my mind about my review tho :)
Kelley Vincent
Fantastic place to see a show! 1400 people, in an old theater with the greatest acoustics anywhere!
darin purcell
Very fun venue. I have been a few times, always had fun. The only critique - have someone from security outside after the shows. There were some folks bothering some single individuals after the last show, and they needed help. Luckily, my daughter and I were there.
Sasha Villarreal
I've honestly never been impressed with this theater and I grew up going to it often though because the music I liked.
THIS TIME THOUGH. Everything I didn't like about this venue before, had been changed! I've honestly had zero interest in going here for anything too. Getting in didn't take forever. Getting drinks didn't take forever. The man downstairs made us great drinks so we kept going back to him. All the staff was nice and helpful. They even helped me look for my friends wallet even after everyone needed to go. Which we found! Totally different than the first 15 years of me going there. Awesome!
Taryn Ryan
I noticed a few bad reviews and I want to say they simply aren’t true. I went to see A show Feb 2023 and I was injured so on crutches- the staff of the venue were so kind and helpful and generally the bars had great service. Acoustics were amazing and I will definitely go back to see any show!
Michael Hicks
Great venue! Hasn't changed much in the last 25 years. Still bringing awsome shows to town
Gerald Lien
By far my favorite venue in Portland decent size, sound is usually great. Drinks aren't overpriced. Security gave out water bottles. Staff is good. Quick getting in and out.
Malkom Addams
The Roseland has always been a staple concert venue for Portland, and for the first time I can add that their concern for ADA accommodations is top notch! I visited for Echo and the Bunnymen following a surgery, and from the moment I came in the door, they helped me get to the elevator and led me straight to a priority ADA seating area where the line of sight wasn't heavily obstructed. At the end they got me safely back down and out a side door to shorten my trip back to my vehicle. Great work, awesome concert!
Barbara North
Great venue for a show. My only complaint is that the balcony seats need to be labeled more accurately. I counted no less than three separate groups of people having to move because they weren't in the correct seats. That says to me that the labeling system is confusing, which it is. Half the label for aisle/row are handwritten, and hard to read.
Also the seats are a little small, but that's typical of any venue. Shove them in tight like sardines so you can make as much money as possible, I guess. Other than that, it's a great place. I'll continue coming here for shows.
Dev
Very crowded but a great atmosphere. Security team was giving their all every second. Bar is upstairs and limited and cash only. There's only one ATM and the line gets long so just bring cash ahead of time. Decent parking lot close by if you're worried about parking like I am.
Jarry LaKamp
EPICA/SABATON Show was Great. The line getting in was fast, security was good and helpful. Merchandise easy access. The sound and production was great, and if you want a close an up front experience with out having the smug feeling of a big Arena. Well here where the bands get it inter act with the crowd more, the Roseland is just that. I hope your experience will be as good as every Show I've been to here.
Fire Princess Reviews
Great place to see a show! Been here four times for Prestige Wrestling
Lily Peterson
Fun concert venue with friendly and helpful staff.
Alexa Marie
Came to town for a concert at the Roseland and have to say it's one of my new favourite venues. Great sound quality and nice intimate setting. Biggest knock is no alcohol on the main floor.
john wiersema
Such an incredible history with this theater. I traveled over 800 miles to see Frank Turner and we had such an amazing time. The sound was great, and I was able to get drinks quickly. I can not wait to come back.
Lyric lee Pinkston
The show was incredible. Roseland is my favorite venue because they have bomb shows, the staff is always respectful of my disability and they have a nice view for their ADA section. Matt Maeson was AMAZING!
Great Chikaka
Great acoustics in here. Sucks that the bar is upstairs and the bathrooms get destroyed throughout the night but for the size of this venue and the prices for shows here its worth it. Hasnt changed in years and thats what i like. Find a show and go. Grab some hood kitchen snacks while you're there.
Erich Blancaflor
The size of this place and the names that play there and the acustics of the performance make this one of my top fav places to see a live band/ event.
No bad seats.
The crowd that it draws sometimes is on the "spilling beer and falling down age-spectrum", but if you find a seat it's usually a good time.
Joie Leigh
Super confusing bar situation but otherwise a decent venue. Caught Clutch and Helmet there the other night and it was incredible!! Only complaint is security at the downstairs bar almost denied me entry because she confused my outgoing personality as drunkenness and I had zero drinks in me prior to that encounter... Felt icky especially when she says "I hope I don't regret this" before letting me pass.
Lonnie Smith
Great venue with balcony seating. Don't recall having a bad time there ever in the 3-4 shows I've seen there. Most of the staff were friendly and courteous.
Mercedes Mike
Legendary venue! Seen so many good shows here. Never had a bad experience. See you all next time!
Frederick Engelhardt
I have gone to this venue many times, over the years it seems to increase the bass intensity and now its almost impossible to attend without acoustic earplugs. The bass intensity also takes away from the clarity of the mids and highs of songs (ie vocals and lead are drowned out by bass and bass effects).
Also avoid the balcony, you will hear 90% bass and all the lyrics will be muffled. This may be different for individual bands, especially bands that are aware about balancing their mixing. Awolnation's setup sadly was not mindful of this.
This venue is also the place which caused tinnitus in my left ear. I ignorantly did not wear earplugs to a Zomboy concert and it damaged my ears, now hear buzzing when the bass is too intense (this venue will always have it at this level). Lesson wear ear protection.
Breanne Fisher
Even with a sold out show and a long line they moved us in pretty quickly. Bar is cash only.
CJ Daiker
Smaller venue. Intimate. Two bars on second floor. Had to wait in line. Great acoustics. Russell Dickerson di not disappoint!
Razi Uddinn
Magnificent venue, paradise on terra firma. Stellar acoustics, exquisite door knobs and outstanding plumbing. The craftsmanship on the urinals is to die for. Visit the Roseland and elevate your existence beyond this wretched mortal plane.
Jay Diamond
Maybe the best place to see a concert. Small venue, great acoustics.
Diane Anderson
Very intimate venue. Sound was good. Seats are not marked, which makes finding your seats a bit challenging.
Koichi Fukuda
It’s a great venue to play the show. All the crews were very nice and friendly. Loved it.
Jennie Wilder
The Roseland Theater is a great place to see a concert. It has an intimate feel and fantastic views from the balcony. There is a bar on one side of the balcony so you can get a drink, take a seat and watch from there or sit on the other side in an all ages area. There is no reserved seating so get there early for a good place to stand below or a seat in the balcony. People line up a couple hours early and wrap around the building. There are bathrooms in the businesses that are circled by people in line, but you must be a paying customer to use them. I appreciated that they had good security and made a girl get off a guys shoulders that was blocking everyone's view. The building is old and needs updating but it is still a great place to see a concert. Note: The neighborhood is a bit sketchy after dark so be aware.
Brayton Kerekffy
Went and saw NF here and it was a pretty great experience. Very simple theater, nothing to really complain about. Open floor for a stand up concert, small proximity so everyone is close to the stage in some way. Good experience. (But that was probably more the artist performing)
Bobby Roberts
This is a great music venue with an alcohol bar upstairs and one downstairs along with a small snack bar. The security team has always been professional and kind. Every event I've attended here has offered coat check. The only negative would be the harrassment by the homeless who camp nearby and secure parking. I do love this venue yes.
Brittney Bishop
I've been seeing shows at the Roseland Theater for at least 10 years. I may be biased because I have so many awesome memories here but I love this concert hall. Great sound, it's easy to see the stage from anywhere inside, the line to get a drink moves quickly thanks to super nice bar staff. The restrooms are clean and stocked. I've never had a bad experience.
Humberto Rivero
Great venue for smaller concerts!
Eric Ernstsen
Went to the Theory of a Dradman concert here. The venue had great sound, but is a bit of an odd space. Security at the door was very thorough with their covid checks but was a bit more lax inside. The cash only bar is also a bit of a downside if you don't know beforehand. Still, definitely a great venue where you can be much closert to the stage and really experience the bands.
reuben deangelo
Small venue for concerts. Random poles on the floor and stage, but who doesn't like obstacles. Earthquake safety I've been told. Does not obstruct to much. Seats in the upper balcony level. Floor open space.
Will Harlem
Let me tell you about this experience I had this Wednesday, May 11, 2022, that night Behemoth played live, in the middle of the concert I lost my cell phone, disappointed I went to security reporting that I had lost my cell phone thinking that I would never get it back , but the honesty of all the people in there , plus the good work of the security staff , they returned it to me that same night minutes after reporting it . Thanks to the honesty and good work , my night at the Behemoth concert was Excellent . 🖤🤘🏻
Blind Ivan
Not the most comfortable or friendly venue. Flat floor makes seeing difficult unless you’re tall. Upstairs is cramped and hard to get around especially at all ages shows where alcohol only available upstairs.
Brandi F
Staff has things for concerts organized exceptionally well. I've never been through a faster concert queue. Also was pretty well ventilated. Was only about 7 feet from the stage and barely to the side of the moshers and didn't overheat. Would go to another concert there.
Bryan Lynch
This is by FAR my favorite venue to see rock/metal shows. It's such a small club, but doesn't feel cramped. Upper deck seats all have an excellent view and a bar. Sound system is always great. Drinks are reasonable. Parking can suck nearby sometimes. I feel like cell reception for T-Mobile has gotten better inside than it was before the Covid lockdowns.
Glen Wooden
Such a great venue. Small and intimate. Great experience. We saw Allen Stone, and the acoustics were great.
Stephen Baer
I heard the Roseland Theater was The Live Music Venue in downtown Portland. I haven't been inside yet, but it is right down the street from where I live. How cool is that! Looks small and cozy, and would have seen The Allman's and Dickie Betz last week if I had the $money
Fred George
Such a awesome venue. With a killer staff. And a wonderful selection Really Big Artists, Show's, Fight Nights, you name it. The security staff is excellent and helpful. A really awesome all-ages venue. With three floors ,2 bars ,balcony seating, and an awesome stage.
Shannon Cruise
Wow Roseland theater! What a great venue! Amazing big fans for ventilation, super nice security folks, great sound quality, not overly aggressive lights, even smelled pretty good!? Seriously civilized! Thank you so much for a lovely evening!
Joanne Coles
Still have the metal detector but staff aren't as hard nosed about letting people in. The balcony seats are worth the price. Enjoyed the Shakey Graves show. They often have great shows that are worth seeing. Glad they didn't overbook with extra backup bands on a weekday evening so it makes it easier for those of us who have jobs to go to see the entertainment.
Mike Rhine
I've seen The Glitch Mob and Rufüs Du Sol here so not that much experience with the theater but I do have some.
The entrance to the theater is a little sketchy with teenagers working as "security" doing mock pat downs and pretty much ignoring any kind of actual security work. It doesn't feel safe at all, especially given recent events at other clubs and theaters. It really is the most barebones entrance I've ever seen at a venue with no personality or noticable environment, just some metal detectors and a concessions stand. Once in, you walk up some stairs to the theater itself which is pretty small for concert-goers with a bit of balcony seating and mostly floor standing room.
Don't expect to see any major players there with that kind of venue, but the shows that are put on have a very personal feel with the musical groups being so close to the crowd. The stage is pretty small but packs a lot of lights and effects with speakers that literally shake the whole building.
Overall, it's a good place for a grungy club type scene, but don't go into it expecting anything more than a step up from a warehouse space.
Justin Marquez
Went here for Louis the Child and it was incredible. Post covid things are slightly different following Virtual Riot. Pretty badass show and the venue is pretty nice. They have a CASH only bar upstairs. Wish they would work on lights and lasers. Moving this to 4 star from 5 for the bar availability going down, no card services, and lack of lasers. Leaving the louis pics.
Karinna B
I have had so many experiences at the Roseland theater. My first concert I ever went to was here back in 2011. Recently, I went to the Roseland for a show, and I was a little dehydrated in the line. Luckily I was with friends, I ended up fainting in line. It was the scariest thing because I have never fainted before! The Roseland security guards brought me water, a chair, and a cold towel. I know for a fact other places can just turn you away, but the Roseland really made my day. I will always have respect for the people who helped me. Thank you Roseland!
Kyle Banyard (KingKongKy1e)
Staff was friendly enough, venue itself was great and the bands were fenominal. Also it's a concert hall so idk what people expect when it comes to seating but we had a blast. Would visit again! P.S we want and saw Pierce The Veil!
Rachel Drapeau
So fun. Great space. Food, water, bar on the bottom level is a nice break/spot to wait for the show to start or between sets. Good location too
Alan Bennett
Great, open venue! AWESOME bands for the Steve Pringle benefit - he would've been proud! Dance floor, food and drinks available and a very friendly crowd celebrating love and helping out the community. I don't know how it could get better!
Joshua Bowley
This a great theater. It's everything you would want in a dive theater for a metal concert. Just a small black box with a balcony for parents and an open space down below for the fans.
Audra Jones
Show was great, staff were kind and security was on top of things even when a some stuff was happening in the crowd. They gave up some water bottles to the audience for whoever needed them.
It's quite a small venue, has a bar up top, and a concession stand as well. They allow bags but prefer them to be small, they'll check everything so make sure you don't get held up in line for something you brought.
SIDE NOTE: (shoutout to security guard James for helping with flowers!) <3
Tom McCauley
We came here on 10-22-22 to see King Princess. This venue never disappoints. The staff are professional and the guys running the sound booth are exceptional.
alisha grezlik
I had never been here, but saw Shakey Graves and it was awesome! Medium sized theatre, but easy to get to. There is a parking lot within walking distance that seemed safe-ish, I had no problems. Great venue! Quick and efficient entry.
Jamie J
Lovely little venue with ~1,400 capacity. Very intimate show. I was lucky to have a spot on the SL balcony as I found it a far better vantage point for the show and not having to deal with bodies all around on the floor. I'm also a tall person and didn't want to be the tall one blocking folks behind me as I would have been at the very front if there was no seating. Even with being close to a speaker rack the sound was excellent throughout.
The balcony is 21+ as they serve alcohol on that level and you are not allowed to bring those drinks, not even water, down to the main floor. The balcony is very very squishy. If you're 6 feet plus, brace for your knees to be mashed against either the seats in front of you or the surrounding rail as mine were throughout. It was a fair trade off as standing for 4 hours is difficult for me and, as I said, the view was absolutely worth it.
One thing that was confusing was the bouncer at the bottom of the stairs that go up to the balcony who was checking IDs said the venue no longer accepts out of country ID. (I was using my province driver's licence.) They didn't clarify if a passport would be enough as I mentioned I had that as well but they let me pass as I am over 21. I can understand not recognizing an out of country ID and being unsure if it's legitimate, however, it would be nice to know what is valid and if a non-US passport falls under this policy as well and what I could use to prove my age in the future as I have no US ID of any kind.
Other than that the staff was well organized, security and coat check were quick and painless, the place emptied surprisingly quick. They do have an elevator (2 people at a time) for those that need it. I could see myself attending a show here in the future.
Bill N
It's gotten better. I haven't been to a show here for a while, like Pre-Covid. It's cleaner and nicer now. I think the pandemic actually did this place a favor and got it cleaned up.
Jared Puente
Great venue. Audio is awesome. Bars are cash only, but I don’t drink so I didn’t care. Food is expensive.
Bobby Farster
Very welcoming and great sounding theater! I would recommend for anyone 18+, plus, there is an upstairs view & bar for 21+. Great place for great tunes!
Brandon Canonica
This is personally my favorite venue in Portland. Big named bands play here but it's small enough that it feels more personal. Great lighting and amazing sound system.
Dan Ohaver
I went to see Blue Oyster cult with my son. The staff was very accommodating. It is a fairly large building with some seating. The only thing I didn't like was all the people drinking, most drunk. I personally go to see the concert. I don't think that being impaired is a way to Rember. The concert was great and very enjoyable.
Lina Alva
Good place for music, just went to Buddy Guy it was great. The place can get hot specially upstairs area. No restrooms upstairs. 3 bars lower floor, main floor and upstairs balconies.
Charyl Beard
Loved the concert!
About the venue itself; bathroom was clean. They had a water station setup, which I always appreciate. The place is definitely outdated. Not a lot of seats (only on balcony) but plenty of security.
Casey Anderson
We've gone to many shows here over the decade we've lived in salem and have very rarely had a bad experience and never with the venue just the band being awful. Staff is amazing here too
Stormy Rinerson
Went to Tove Lo, had the best time ❤️
Shannah Chatfield
Great venue for a small one. Concert sounded great from both the floor and balcony. Easy to find and parking near by.
Robert Cookson
I've been here a few times and consider it a great place to see a show. Most recently was last night for GWAR/Hatebreed. The floor area is pretty large for a smaller venue with a smaller upper balcony area where alcohol is served. The only small issue was trying to get outside for some fresh air after one of the opening acts. Long line of people trying to get outside. Plenty of close parking available and the sound quality was very good.
Kyaaptyn
This place is great. The food downstairs is SOOO good. Can't recommend the trap mac enough. There are balcony seats where people had to stay if they were drinking alcohol which made me feel safe. Also that means the main floor is pretty clean. 10/10 would go again
connie veloz
This was my second time seeing a concert here. My first time being here was seeing Steve Aoki live. Last night I saw LP live for the 2nd time! Its a great building and awesome place to go to for concerts.
Kerry Boomsliter
Such a great venue. Basic but every seat is close. Good people working there, too.
Jonathan Hoffman
Great place for amazing music. It could be a bit cleaner, remodeled but it does the trick! Go see some beautiful music in downtown Portland....be safe and have fun!
PS - James Blake Show - April 2019
brooke schell
This venue has had its ups and downs over the years but I think they are in a really good place right now. Management and security and their neighbors all seem to be working together nicely which makes the experience for the concert goer SO much more enjoyable!
John D
5 stars, for the gal who went out of their way to attempt to help me find my belongings that staff likely trashed because they could. I'll think twice about keeping my stuff out of concert goers way 😅 …
Alexa Medina
I personally loved this venue. Great spot for Jessie Reyez concert. Absolutely loved it. For sure go to another concert there.
Greer Martin
Always a fun time, wish the bathrooms were not shut down immediately after a show. When upstairs you have to go likely.
Alex Patrón
Staff are nice, upstairs seating is great if you don’t want to stand. Parking downtown is *extremely sus* so just be careful and don’t leave anything visible if you do.
Stephen Cook
As an average concert goer, I would consider this location decent. The acoustics are okay for the space. The stage is visible from most anywhere, barring the two skinny support beams in the main standing area which can impair visibility. But, as long as the artist moves around on the medium sized stage, this is tolerable. This location does serve alcohol if desired at a premium price. There seemed to be mixed drinks as well as beer. I didn't notice any accessibility options, but that doesn't mean they aren't there. The Roseland is also smoke free inside with a space to step outside if needed. Overall, this is a good venue to see a concert for smaller to mid sized bands.
Photo is taken from near the back of the ground floor. There is also a small wrap around upper balcony with reserved seating.
Steven Buchanan
Great venue! Not a bad seat in the house and a really good sound system!
Natasha Park
Saw Awolnation and they were amazing. One of my favorite venues to see shows in Portland.
Star Thomas
Awesome theater. Great for concerts. Awesome views from any seat. Would've given it 5 stars but I was here working with a client. Security wasn't the greatest. Not paying attention to crowd. Too busy on their phones trying to record the show. Overall they were decent. And the venue is definitely a place you will want to see.
Joe McMillan
Pretty cool venue. Helpful staff. Parking wasn't too bad.
Molly Unoofdogs
Great place to watch a concert. Wish you were able to park a little closer.
Katy Hitchcock Tinker
We had a great time at the Roseland Theater for The Hu concert. My boyfriend was in a walking boot cast and as soon as the security guard by the metal detectors saw it, he radioed for someone to come escort us to the elevator. That was really nice of him to do. All of the other security guards we're also very nice and fun to talk to.
We had balcony seats and the only complaint I had was when purchasing tickets, I wish it had shown where the huge posts were, as my view of the show was partially blocked. I wouldn't have bought those seats had I known that.
Otherwise, it was a good night and a great show.
Alexandra Franco
Nice medium-sized venue with great balcony and floor options if you want to get close. Alcohol only allowed in the balcony. Offers the chance to see quality bands in a more intimate setting that still allows for some getting loose!
M. C. M.
Great venue, staff was helpful and efficient! I'd forgotten an expensive pocket knife before I went in, and it triggered at the metal detector.
I got it back at the end of the show, but it might be good to do a tagging system as there was a very large bin of items and folks just went by trust to get their stuff back.
Note, if it *had* gotten stolen I wouldn't have blamed the venue, we should be conscious about bringing weapons in. But since it was clearly a large problem, it might be good to implement something to reduce potential culpability and drama.
Ryan Kackley
One of the best places to see a concert. They have big names grace the stage often.
Dustin Cates
The stage and main floor are fine but the upstairs bar situation needs a serious redesign
Martin Colvill
First time here at the Roseland theater. It was packed for the SABOTON concert. Really enjoyed it. My only complaint is that what seats there are (and they are upstairs mind you) fill up too fast and a disabled person such as myself who didn't get there early enough had to stand the entire time. Other than that enjoyed it immensely.
Jenessa Garrett
Nice venue with an upstairs seated area for first come first serve. The middle floor is the concert hall with 2 staircases to get you back downstairs to where the bar is located.
I went to a Black Label Society concert and the only complaints I have are: The music was way to loud, distorted loud, a few times and you can't drink on the main music floor in the middle, only upstairs and downstairs where the bars are located.
Awesome staff, great stiff drinks! Easy to find location with a giant sign outside.
Sharon Hann
We came to see Prof. Our 13 yr Olds first concert and one of our favorite artists. Staff was courteous and helpful. The atmosphere/vibe is positive. Even though it is a smaller venue, it's still big enough to experience the crowd!
James Moudy
I have seen so many shows of the Roseland over the years, this is a staple for portland, and every single time I visit I always make sure I come by.
Deandra Turner
Went and saw Purity Ring here and it was absolutely amazing. The venue is nice and small, there's 2 levels with the upper being seated and the lower being floor space. Probably my second favorite venue in Portland after the Crystal Ballroom
paul singleton
The Steve Vai concert was amazing, and the staff at Roseland theater was friendly and kept the line moving effectively!
Kayla Dunn
This is fun place for intimate concerts, no matter where you sit or stand you feel so close to the stage! Best concert I've been to in awhile was just a week ago!
Sveinn Kjartansson
I'll go so far as to say this is my fav venue for MMA/BJJ and Metal shows! I love the balcony seats for a good over head view and quick bar
Dawn Beaudreau
Roseland is a great venue. There are no bad seats. I love seeing artists perform here.
Stephen Berezhnoy
Beautiful theater, but they didn’t have a water station, so you had to buy water at the bar.
Zac Burden
This is always a good venue for metal concerts. I just wish they'd overhaul their air systems to better accommodate the crowd sizes and humidity that accrues; sometimes it can be hard to take a breath.
John Blackwell
I have been coming to the Roseland for almost two decades, and have always had a pretty decent experience. Getting through the front doors can kind of be a pain in the ass because of the metal detectors, but I'll take that over people bringing in things they shouldn't. This place is pretty iconic as far as venues in Portland goes, a lot of great bands have played here. Getting into the balcony can be a pain in the ass, especially during an all-ages show, there are only so many spots up there, and if they aren't serving alcohol downstairs, it creates a huge line and subsequent bottleneck.
I recently took my father here, who is bound to a wheelchair... We got the first class treatment being shuffled to where we needed to go and got a good spot on the side of the stage. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous.
Andrew Pikul
I've seen a fair number of shows here and I can say the Roseland is a decent venue. The acoustics may not be great but they have great bookings that run the gamut from hip hop to electronica and back. The main stage room feels a bit stale and rugged but will go unnoticed once you start dancing. The bar upstairs is a great place to watch the show but gets crowded early . I recommend getting drinks early or beforehand because the bar area can get slammed very quickly.
Otimepilot
The bathrooms were clean which surprised me, not a bad set up though with an upstairs and main floor venue. They seem to have it together.
Megan Hall
Two things:
One: If you are hoping for balcony seats, call and confirm the show will have the balcony open first, not all shows do. If it isn't open, don't stress about getting there early.
Two: the bar is extremely reasonably priced! I was incredibly surprised.
Solid venue.
Patrick Henry
Such a wonderful place to see a concert. Just an amazing place where locals from all walks of life come together to enjoy great bands. Well-handled crowd control as well... Easy in, easy out... No long lines.
Heidi Buckley
Sound system is baaaad. Dirty and old building. Good show! Bone Thugs and Harmony 25 years!
Sophia Robinson
Cash only bars- but like 3 or 4 of them I the tiny space so that cuts way down on lines.
Balcony seating isn't terribly comfortable but again, b/c it's such a small space, the cool thing about it is that you still feel fairly close to the stage. The whole place can have an intimate feel w/ the right show.
Mike B
I've been coming to this venue since the early 80's when it formerly the Starry Night. I've seen several shows here, and even met a few including Metallica when Cliff Burton was still alive and well. It's gone through quite a few changes but all in all remains the same. It's a great historic building, but the Security is a little over the top with the power tripping. Other than that it's a cool venue and if you get a chance to catch a gig here, do so. 🤘
Ryan Hearing
Matt Maeson for the win. Staff, venue, and overall experience was incredible. Downtown is always rough but that's Portland.
Shawn Davis
I've seen dozens of concerts here over the years. Excellent venue, I do prefer the over 21 shows for drinking throughout, but that is not really a complaint, just a preference. Great staff and good sound. I like it!
Bahadur Karahin
Smaller venue than you might imagine. Either cozy or cramped depending on your perspective. The staff is friendly and professional. Ultimately nothing exceptional... but the act I saw, the Hu, was absolutely incredible!
Ron Boyd
Great venue to see a music performance. Smaller, so no bad views. Like some venues.
Corey Branstrom
I've been wanting an excuse to go to the Roseland for years. The photos and posters of performers from years past in the lobby is practically worth the price of admission. Absolute legends.
Great open floor venue with seats upstairs. One bummer: the seats are 21+ only, which sucked for my son going to his first non-stadium concert.
That said, excellent venue and would be happy to go again.
Ron Antlitz
Great show. The staff were amazing. It is a lot of fun
Eric Whitehead
Great no-nonsense music venue...get up close and personal or hang back in the balcony with some of your favorite bands!
Kaptin Qwin
Legendary Historic Rock, Metal, Hip Hop, Indie, Everything Club. RT has a long and notorious history in downtown Portland. Multiple Bars, Balcony, Prince Purple, Food Options. Road Dog Rules!$!
Brandi Punch
I love this place. I've seen many shows here. Smaller venue, more intimate. It feels like the world outside stops while you're here.
DeMichael Brown
Cool venue with good sound and space. When I went the bar downstairs wasn't opened so you could only get a drink from upstairs and couldn't bring it downstairs. Didn't like that but it very well could have been a covid thing. I do like that they had food and a space to eat it in the venue even though I didn't partake. Very convient. All in all I'd definitely come to a concert here. I will say I wish there was a was way to get will call tickets sooner rather than day of show but they do have it in doors so it's not like you have to wait in a separate line.
Mandie Guth
Always quick and stellar pizza! Sad we can’t eat inside these days but still head over as an after school treat.
Jeff Hernandez
Pretty good venue. No place to sit unless you have tickets to the upstairs seating (however you can go downstairs and sit and watch a TV screen of the concert). Decent bars around the place. Two upstairs. Pretty smooth process. Been hosting music for a long time. Good stage, sound and lighting.
Jed Curran
Clean and very friendly staff! Love this place, even has upstairs seating with a bar.
Kitty
Sound production was good, people were helpful when we cannot find our tickets.
Sean
Horrific lines to get to the only drinking area.. which is upstairs.
But that upstairs is awesome, and the lines for drinks were almost non existent and the view is fantastic there along with the sound.
My new favorite place in Portland to see shows!
Rebecca Dean
Concert was fantastic. The venue was a little run down but it is an old theater. Confusing as you had to go to the very top to a very crowded area for alcohol and stay when there was a lower bar closed and the entire event was 21 and over. You would think the alcohol area would be in GA so the vip wasn't over crowded with people standing.
Chad Grooms
Hard to find an issue with Roseland. It's one of the few venues in town to host big metal shows and for the most part, the staff is super friendly & doesn't make you feel like you are at the TSA like some larger venues.
Alex Bonham
By far the best small venue in all of Portland! Also big shout out to the security guard Cameron!! The nicest and friendliest person. He deserves a major raise :) thanks for the water and headbanging if you see this cam!!!
Rob Price
My son and I had a great time at the Black Veil Brides - Asking Alexandria - Crown the Empire concert!
chris jackson
I freaking love the Roseland! Been going to concerts there since the early nineties, and have never been disappointed. It's a local legend for live music, and MMA.
BikerCowboy
Great venue!!! I will be back for sure
Rob Moore
Nice staff. Clean restrooms. Reasonable drink prices considering it's a venue. I saw new found glory here
Robert Stephens
Super cool venue.
Keely Nickel
Such a small intimate venue I loved it! Not sure how the seats work up top but they all have a decent view too. Was bummed alchohol couldn't be downstairs but I've was great. Saw all time low here in November 2021 and will definitely come back for other people I only half like because I like this venue alot.
Jenny Madsen
A very fun venue. We've seen Koo Koo Kanga Roo there twice. The food from the grill was surprisingly good, I wasn't expecting it to be more than the most basic offerings.
Brianna Grubb
I attended both Louis Tomlinson shows over the weekend and while I feel the venue was too small for someone like Louis, that’s out of anyones control and I don’t blame the Roseland staff or Louis’ crew for that. The staff/security was very very kind to us not only while we waiting outside for hours, but also once we were inside and made sure we were hydrated and had space to stand so we weren’t smushed. Outside they regularly made laps to ensure our safety while we waited and interacted with us a lot. I want to shout-out to Steve and Rob, they were amazing security guards and I’ve never met any security/staff at any other venues that were so kind and thoughtful! Overall great experience thanks to the staff for keeping us healthy and safe!
Zach Phillips
Music and venue are great, but you can only purchase drinks with cash. I was there to see an 80's band, I just didn't think the bar would be in a time warp too.
Parker Clawson
I've never had a bad experience at the Roseland. Concerts there rock and are affordable. If you get the chance to see your current musical obsession there, go!
Halley Parker
Great venue, we attended a cage match fight and it was perfect. Felt very close and right in the action
Jake Schwyhart
Great venue!!! And an amazing show, had a blast
J Arnold
Solid place to see a show. Pretty cool ambiance. No re entry rule is a bummer but not a huge deal
Jessie Vegas
Amazing!!!!!! Behemoth, unto others, napalm Death and arch Enemy!!!!!
Billy Frerichs
Good venue with easy in/out. Lower level only had a non-alcoholic bar. Lines to get to alcohol bar were long. Open lower level bar = +2 = 5 stars
tessa jurceka
Love this theater. We live in Olympia and even though most tours we can go to in Seattle which is an hour away- we would rather make the trip to here or Hawthorne.
Brian Coleman
Great venue! Had a great time. Saw Keane and they did not disappoint
Kris Atchison
Slash knows good music. The Roseland is great for phenomnal artists doing a solo event. It s small and intimate. He actually played Rocket Man by Elton John. Easy affordable good sounding venue
Isaac Hy
One of the best venues here.
I always enjoy coming here for any event. I really like the layout.
This place is the right venue and how things should be done. Portland, you know how to put on shows better than most. 👍
Scott Wiley
sum 41 was amazing!!! Roseland is also a very cool venue arrive early tho!! And bring cash
Molly Byers
Venue clean and fun. No outside food allowed, tho and merch and drinks were super spendy. 😞 the orwells and of course the legendary Pixies were fantastic! …
TheGdelsecco (Draeden Revjak)
One of the best venues in Portland. Even has handicapped seating for GA shows. They are hosting Blue Oyster Cult as I write this review!
dixy enid
Long line to get to the bar upstairs, and you couldn't go back down unless you wanted to get in line again to come back up. Small tight halls upstairs, not great if you get claustrophobic in tight spaces. Great venue though!
Shawna M
In the past I rated it as a 3 star because of it being super packed and having an obstructed view (because of the posts in the middle of the room). Well both of those things still stand, although the view was less of an issue this time, however I'll add that we were closer to the front of the stage and it was HOT. Pretty sure someone passed out because of the heat in the crowd. Put out some ventilation or put in water stations!
Adam Roberts
Venue is cool, ATM upstairs would only give me $20 per transaction and bar is cash only. Seems like the ATM should work properly if they are cash only. Got double-dipped for ATM fee.
Don Bown
Great space, however the 3 shows I've been to there has left me quite disappointed. Every show I've seen, they've pushed their speaker stacks beyond what they can handle. The sound is always in overdrive and the distortion that results is almost too much to bear.
I've opted to skip shows here whenever possible. It truly is painful to have ear drums ache for the wrong reasons.
Yes, it's Rock n Roll but it's so much better when everything isn't turned to 11 when it's designed to be maxed out at 9.
If there are two shows on same night that you would like to see, I would highly recommend skipping the Roseland show.
Kirk Anderson
Very interesting layout with places in the balcony that you can sit and standing room only on the floor. Nice that they serve decent food throughout the show. Staff was extremely friendly and security neither job. plus if you need a few minutes away from the live music you can always go downstairs and grab a quick bite and watch the show on a big screen while you eat. Reasonable prices on drinks.
Katherine
Went to Rumble at the Roseland with my Husband, it was great, had front row balcony seats and really enjoyed the fights.
Not Shown
Based on my experience, the venue staff was helpful and friendly. The venue itself has a bar (cash only), but no food. Decent size overall. Only thing to be cautious for is the different parking areas in the surrounding area(s). Would recommend though and return.
Jessica Graves
The Prof show show was AMAZING! However, it was a bit cramped! And having to wait in line just to get upstairs to the bar was very hectic and having to wait in line every time sucked but it is what it is!
James Smith
Nice Venue. Very small. They need a better bar set-up. Get there early if you want to sit in balcony.
L Stark
I love seeing shows at the Roseland...small enough venue to make it more intimate & acoustics are good. Nice being able to actually see the performers without the use of binoculars!! One of my favorite spots to see a concert.
N K
I saw The offspring (1998?) and Hatebreed (2008?) here. Good times.
Infinity Myer
Mostly everyone who worked there was nice, and the venue was very nice as well. I went to see yungblud and it was sooo fun
Dustin Bradshaw
Nice venue! Saw Nightwish play there, had a great time, no complaints.
Nathan
Prof show was amazing. Tae Supreme was great too
Charis Miller
I am in a wheelchair and the security plus staff are so great and they are so helpful. We went to see Lykke Li and it was an Awesome show. Thank you!
Joshua Smith
It's a wonderful place. Never had any issues with sound it comes across so clear.
Sam Fletcher
Awesome spot to see a show
Brant Stokes
Solid music venue. Not the most extravagant place, but let's be honest, you're gonna be here for the show, not the venue.
Katie Wood
Awesome. Seen Clutch and Helmet and JD Pinkus. Had a blast! Starry Night!
M.K. Hobson
How can I not give the Roseland 5 stars? The seating sucks and I'm pretty sure its a f'ing fire trap, but I've seen so many amazing shows here, and it's a Portland legend. Fun fact: this year (2022) is its 100th birthday! May its next century be as rockin' as its last!
Sarah Shell
I love going to this venue for shows it's one of my favorites!
Audrey Wojnarowisch
Fantastic atmosphere! Mid sized concert venue for intimate performances. Felt a real connection with the musicians. I would recommend short people try to arrive early or wear heels 😅 but other than that, it really is a great spot. …
Brittany Phillips
I took my little sister to see Louis Tomlinson. I was very impressed that throughout the night they handed out free water. The staff and security were all very nice, and kept everyone safe.
Lupon Sensay
Not my favorite of venues in the city, bar lines are a pain, and its all ages, that said they have a good Booker and decent bands come through.
Frank Wilson
Love this venue. It's small enough that everyone is close to the stage yet but enough to get some impressive performers. The seating on the 2nd floor is great if you want to watch but not move around a lot. They have a coat check, 21+ bar area, but also typically allow 18+ at most concerts. The security staff is competent but friendly, which is extremely rare at concerts these days. If you want to see how to run a concert, go spend some time here and learn.
Lex Lollar
Never had a bad night here. Always a pleasure
Harumy Concepción
Went to my first ever rap show, my first ever show featuring a woman, for my first time at the Roseland! Sno Tha Product, check her out. Te amo Nieve!
Brandon Scarth
Awesome place for meetings and get togethers of ALL kinds 😊 …
No Thanks
Great old school venue. On the small side, so there are no bad seats...unless a post is in the way. These pics are from the balcony 2nd row center.
CAROL FATEHI
Awesome!!! Except for the fact that the stage is too small. Ded had barely enough room to perform, and poor BVB....Andy was tripping over and around everything and everybody practically....I felt so bad for them. They didn't have any stage freedom to really let loose, get into it. I realize that In This Moment's staging needed the space, but still.
I had a front row balcony seat and I was afraid to stand up in fear of falling over the railing. The railing was so low, and I am a very short person. Also, no leg room what-so-ever.🙁 I wanted to sit at the end of my seat, stand in celebration, but I didn't dare or couldn't.
Staff was just amazing, friendly and helpful. 🤘🖤🎶♥️
Matthew Crino
Keane 2020 tour, first US stop for them. Such a cool venue! Very intimate setting between performers and fans. Somehow the acoustics pull off really good in there. Stage setup including lighting was awesome. Almost had a sweet blend of a stadium feel and studio sound without the mosh pit. 👍👍 …
Audrey Zindler
It was a pretty good venue. Be warned they are CASH ONLY which is really annoying at a time when even food carts take cards.
Razvan Mihailescu
Cool venue but surrounded by homeless and street tents. To Portland politicians, if you're reading this, you've failed. Resign.
Kate Wirth
Great small venue right in downtown. Perhaps it helped that I saw my favorite band there, but I really enjoyed it. The big downside is the bar, situated in a tiny corner on the top level with next to nowhere to stand and enjoy your drink without one of the staff yelling at you that you're standing in the wrong place. Also didn't love being dumped out into the worst downpour I've experienced in years with no awning, no place to stop and get situated with coverage without someone, again, yelling at you to keep moving away from the building. So, great show space, but could use a little TLC with logistics and kindness to patrons.
Paul Dixon
One of my favorite Portland venues. The setup is quite good - main floor for the band, with a balcony area above. There's a bar on both floors, but if it's an all ages show you're going to have to be upstairs for an adult beverage. Security staff are efficient and nice. What makes the place is the crowd. It does seem to attract a younger and more boisterous crowd, who quite clearly enjoy their music. It's also right downtown, so is extremely handy.
Deborah Rogeness
The only reason this isn't a 5-star review is that the seats are old and hurt middle-aged butts. The staff were cool, the venue is quirky... the way concert venues used to be. Great service, great atmosphere. If I was younger, I'd have been dancing down on the floor and the antique seats wouldn't be an issue.
Tony (MtHoodlum)
Been here a hundred times. Always been a great venue. Been here during Covid too, and I felt better knowing the people at the show next to me in the mosh pit were vaccinated or tested negative.
Charley Hustle
Great venue the show was awesome GWAR was great.
Doug Schmidt
First time attending a concert at this venue and I found my experience to be enjoyable. Prices on food and beverages were reasonable.
Kristin Pdx
Probably my favorite venue in Portland because it's just classic, straight up and you can usually find some great shows for such a deal as far as pricing. And their staff is always awesome
harold hagedoorn
After they screwed us on our tickets (double booked), and no apology or refund it was a bad start. The venue was clean enough, but horrible air circulation, and generally rude staff, the cheap drinks were at least a plus. The sound and visuals on stage were surprisingly good! Small venue is a plus to be very close to the performers. Would consider going again, mayb.
Eric Toews
This is a very Portland venue. Multiple levels. Enter at the bottom. Go upstairs to the main floor which is for standing room only. Then another set of stairs which is 21 and over and has seating. I was there for a relatively full show put on by the band Skillet. Yes, if you want the "cheap" seats you will be standing all night, but there are drinks and food available and the venue has a great feel.
Angie Alverson
One of my favorite venues in Portland!
I've seen a lot of big names here! It's decent sized, but still small enough to give you that intimate feel! The sound quality is great. I honestly think it just depends on the band and who's doing their sound. I've never had an issue with it but have heard different from other people.
Chris Schultz
One of the best venues in Portland. The balcony is great if you want to sit and the bar is well stocked. If you want to dance, and you should, the open floor is great. For more mellow shows they will have chairs on the floor but still have room to dance in the back and at the stage. I've seen some of the best shows in my life here. I love this place. Just remember that this neighborhood can be a little sketchy late night. You'll be fine!
James Lester
Good venue only downside is having to chug your beer that you have to stay upstairs and drink, so you can keep your spot in the floor
Chester Brown
Great concert venue. Seperates areas for 21 and over.
Craig S
Always loved attending concerts here.
Εωσφόρος Sophós
Nice Mid-Size Venue. Most show-Goer's know the general rules of most venues. I've been going to the Roseland for over 10yrs now and never had a bad experience. The staff and security are all helpful and very nice.
Some things I've come to learn in recent years is this.....
To gain quick access to the balcony, be sure to arrive early as they only give out 360 re-entry stamps. If they run out, then be ready to wait to get up there when the balcony is at full capacity.
Always bring valid I.D.!
Don't Pre-Funk too much, if you arrive visibly intoxicated, they will deny you entry to the venue.
Never tell the sound-engineer how to do their job. If they are working there then they know they're stuff.
The rest is just common sense. Good attitudes and Courtesy go a long way....with anyone.
Anthony B.
Great venue, security was tight and friendly. All around nice place to watch a show!
Andrew Z
My favorite music venue when I come to Portland. I love that there is a wrap around balcony above the main dance floor and that they have water upstairs and downstairs. It does sometimes get very hot in there but I have usually been there when it's sold out so I completely understand! The shows I have seen there have been pretty incredible too and have left some really great memories for me. Hoping to come back again soon!
Arielle G
Great sound, nice venue, friendly staff, stellar performances, good crowds, easy in and out with a negative covid test. Definitely a place I'll be back to even driving 3 hours to get to. Thank you for rocking my night 🤘 …
Roddy Coles 3
I've seen many great concerts at the Roseland (and even the Starry Night). The venue has much improved over the past decade. It is cleaner and more organized than in the past. No more mosh pits. Although they are more expensive, it is nice to have the option of reserved seats in the balcony now. The security is still fairly invasive. You have to pass through a metal detector, but they don't let you empty your pockets of metal objects or cellphones. Thus, I always set it off with my keys/phone and have to get a "pat down". More than once I had to empty my pockets. Much more strict than other Portland venues, but I guess they have their reasons.
Kamilla A.
Great venue but terrible sound
Margret Kelly
Great venue but they allow too many people in the building. It was so crowded that half the night the balcony was at capacity and sometimes it would take five minutes to walk from one side of the main floor to the bathroom. It would easily be a five star if this were changed.
Ryan Westby
The sound quality for rock shows at the Roseland leaves something to be desired. But the staff in general does a good job of maintaining the place and organizing people through the venue. The best experience I've had here so far is up on the balcony, the side view from up there is unreal.
Travis Babcock
Cool venue would definitely go back.
Carl T
This place is saved by the high quality acts they bring in. The crowd it draws tend to be fun, mellow, and enthusiastic and I've seen at least a couple of my favorite concerts ever here. That said, I'm usually not excited to see this is where a band i want to see are playing. It's kind of dingy in a lousy area with either mediocre acoustics or incompetent sound engineers whose only skill is adding volume. This has actually ruined more than one concert I've gone to for groups I really love and who need the precision of their mixing to match the precision of their music.
Cynthia Wisehart
The LP concert was amazing! As for the theater, be prepared to be scrutinized by the 6 security guards at the front door...more security than at the airport. Was it for LP? Or a normal thing? I don't know. Also, I suggest you pay for reserved seating. Standing for a 2-3 hours show, while drinking...I saw 1 person go down...not for the weak.
I will return...just more aware now.
R McRae
Always a blast seeing a show at the Roseland. Keeping tradition alive took my daughter to her first show there! Killer show
Joseph Giramma
Great venue! Saw social distortion and the distillers here recently.
Brandon Canonica
Would've been better if they had the balcony open for seating. Had to leave the "our last night" show early cause I my knees won't allow me to stand that long. Usually it's a great venue. Really bummed I've now missed out on the last 3 times our last night came to Portland. Hopefully next time they'll have seating available
Don Hogan
Seen a few shows there. Cool spot.
Rob Durkin
The sound is just not very good, even though they have clearly made improvements. There staff were helpful and friendly. Everything else is just OK. All the good beer sold out in about 20 minutes. I wish Portland had better medium-sized music venues, but we're stuck with the Roseland and the Crystal.
Susan Thomas-Reed
Fantastic venue. The acoustics were nice. It looks dated but it was a great place!
Max Hunger
The best smaller venue there is in Portland.
Trishia Madden
My experience here for concerts is hit and miss. I like the venue. The bad side is that they have entirely too many people crammed into the concert area. It is literally so packed that you are smashed up to other people front, back, and on both side of you. Just like a packages of sardines. You can not move. And if you are five feet tall, you will not see a thing on stage if anyone is standing in front of you. If someone decides to move and go elsewhere in the venue, it's a mess of being tugged and pushed because everyone is so smashed up on everyone there. It is a complete let down if you can't enjoy the concert. It's even a bigger let down when you paid to see your band live and you can not even see them. On the other hand, IF you get there before everyone else, you will get somewhat close enough to peek threw a few people ahead of you to see the band perform on stage. The sound is great in the venue. So you gotta hope for the best and plan on arriving way in advance to see the concert. But still, packed like sardines.

The space is pretty nice, lots of balcony seating and drinks available. However I called before the show and they gave me a price. They quoted me a higher price at the door and a third even higher price when I bought the ticket. Was upset and would have left if it wasn't one of my favorite bands. The bands killed it but the venue, mediocre.
Lance Ogden
Had a great time -- at The Roseland -- seeing STP in concert. The Roseland continues to be my favorite venue in the PNW, just ahead of The Gorge.
Holly Miller
It's rustic, old, a little cruddy, and everything I ever loved in a concert hall. The walls are plastered with some of the best musicians of all time, and it's worth catching a show here. Enjoy your finest grungy, dance Hall Days catching all of the tastiest indie bands featured in Portland Mercury and Willamette Week.
There's no time like the present to catch a show here for the experience and the vibe.
Joshua K
Small, nostalgic venue. As some have pointed out it's old and the sound isn't great. That said you feel more connected to the bands here. Don't have to get out the binoculars to see who's playing like at some venues. For those who want to sit the seats in the balcony are great. Drinks were reasonably priced. Definitely a venue to check out at least once!
Roger Willard
This is a great place for concerts. Definitely one of the best venues for live music in Portland!
Harlequin Heart
Over the last couple of years this venue has made a noticeable effort to increase security and it has truly improved. They are kind, reasonable, and helpful. The venue has pretty good sound but you will need ear plugs, which they have for very cheap. You can make great memories here
Chris M
Seats for SUB 3 were horrible. Smelled like a headshop. They don't take cards.
Ess!e Bug
Always a great place for a up close and personal show. It gets a bit warm in there after stuffing a bunch of bodies in the venue, but it's clean, they have booze for 21+ and of course food you can purchase. Oh, and they have a coat check. I checked shoes, so that's pretty awesome!
Debbie Hall
Louis Tomlinson was a great show!
Erik Heisenburg
Pretty cool venue, it's a little confusing at first cause there's different levels and sections, but once you go two or three times you get the lay of the land well enough. I would definitely go again cause it was a real good crowd and you can almost always find tickets outside if you're in the area. Location is great too, right in the middle of everything really.
Amy Ableidinger
Love going to this place for shows. Staff is mostly friendly (unless they cant be) love the 3 different floors with 3 different atmospheres. I have had one really bad experience there before (friend was drugged), so just be safe and only let bartenders serve you fresh drinks.
Jennifer O'Connell
I would have really enjoyed this venue in high school/early college. But it feels incredibly unpolished and grimy with a very loud sound system. The bar and stage are on different floors, which makes the atmosphere more cattle pen-esque - either enjoy your beer or enjoy your music - but at $45 a ticket, you shouldn't expect to do both at the same time.
Cassie Myers
I haven't been here in years (but will be here in October for Charli XCX!!!), but I love this venue. The stage area is huge, and the sound quality is spectacular. I have been here twice for The Pretty Reckless back in 2016, and ONE OK ROCK in 2017. All in all, if a band you like is playing here, you should go to it.
This review is based only off my concert experiences here though. The staff seem fine, but I have not interacted with them, especially since I haven't been here in almost two years.
Matt De Leon
Went here for a concert. Concert, Environment, and ambiance was great. No issues getting in or out of the place.
Unfortunately the men's Bathroom was disgusting. It had a layer of pee on the floor. One of the stall doors were broken. Graffiti tagging all over bathroom. The soap did smell good though.
On the 21+ balcony the floor was sticky from spilled drinks, like the entire South side of the balcony at least.
Skyler Carvell
The negative reviews must have had a unique experience. It was an amazing night at a great place. The only staff member I interacted with said "inside, left arm" she stamped the inside of my left arm and let me inside. Maybe the bar would have been worse, but the general admission room was great. The show was pretty sweaty, but that will happen in a room filled with people screaming and jumping to a 20 song, 4 hour All Time Low concert. The speakers were also amazing, I could literally FEEL the bass in some songs. If you don't know the song, it will be way too loud to understand any lyrics--the only songs I could understand were the 20 ATL songs that I already knew
Kozmo617
This place is a great venue for a good show. I go to a lot or metal/rock shows here and rather enjoy it. It does get a little warm and can feel cramped but that goes with the territory of crowds and music events. The staff has always been friendly, the entrance frisk is often quick and easy. The security has been rough at times but again metal shows and alcohol make things as little more "emotional." Overall I love this venue and come back time and time again and leave happy. Nothing beats getting that stamp, walking up the stairs and onto the floor at the Roseland.
Jason O'Connell
This venue attracts a lot of the bigger bands because of its capacity. Views of the stage are pretty good from the standing area and the balcony (which also has seating and an additional bar). That being said the acoustics are terrible and the sound is very "flat". I saw My Bloody Valentine and the monitors sounded like they were going to blow out during the first song. Granted they are a loud band, but still. Having seen several other bands since the sound quality is still not very good.
Vanessa S
Great venue, wonderful show! With so many places going cashless, it was a little frustrating that coat check and the bar was cash only. Otherwise, everything was awesome!!
E. R. “JD” DeQuatto
The events they host are usually pretty great. The staff is usually pretty cool. The bar pours light and isn't cheap, so definitely pregame responsibly. The venue itself is getting old and gross. Needs to be remodeled or updated or something. Regardless, this venue is a pillar in the Portland event scene.
Lilly Bargioni
Bar is cash only, and the upstairs seats are pretty rock hard. There are also a lot of poles that block your view from upstairs. That being said, everyone who works there is really nice, it's in a great location, and we had a great time!!
Dale Hills
This is a hit or miss place. When it's good it's great! The bar downstairs is better than inside the venue area but still not terrible. Lack of wiggle room and it can get hot during a show but still a good time.
Ryan Mitch
Great venue, city morgue packed that place. Security was a bit ridiculous, Bunch a hay seeds taking a tad too serious. Cash only bar is a negative too.
Tom Bellinson
Nice venue. The acoustics are good and you can choose to stand on the main floor or get seats upstairs. I was visiting from Michigan but when I ordered the tickets, I was put on the email list. I wish I lived near Portland so that I could go to all the great shows at the Roseland.
Simone Parker
Fun venue. Bar is cash only so bring cash. Drinks are $6-8. If you want to stand up and dance, stand on the floor not the balcony. Most people on the balcony like to sit during the show and would be bothered by people standing in front of them.
Michael Edmondson
Fun venue. I like the all ages setup with a bar upstairs, good times. Good sound system, nice staff, pretty good lighting. Kinda long cost check line at end. They did have food as well. Tickets are usually well priced imo. I'll be back
CoyDiva W.
The best staff! They're really helpful and considerate!
Jakob Pinder
Fun place but gets packed and is mostly standing room
TX
Been here numerous times for concerts and Submission Underground. Not a bad seat/view in the house. Friendly staff, reasonably priced food and drinks. Clean restrooms for its age. I think some of these reviewers are expecting arena style amenities. Great place to see your favorite band or fights.
Tyler McAfee
The Roseland Theater will always hold a special place in my heart. First concert I went to was here (Alien Ant Farm) in 2001. Nice, personal shows but with a medium/large size feel to the venue. Balcony up top is great to get out of the pit/standing area and get a marvelous view of the performer. Highly recommend seeing your favorite act perform here, even more so than a stadium like Moda.
Krysten Drury
This was a fun venue to go to I attended the peace love and wubs tour at this location. It was such a blast and the staff was friendly. They had water available for free.
Rick Wagner
The Record Company you are rockin! New fan! Cake you’ve been amazing as always. Keep it up gents! ROSELAND thanks for hosting!!!
Travis Bennett
Good venue! But watch out for the security, they just want to be the ones running the show! I've seen a few shows there and always watch from the same spot. For some reason on 4/26/17 during the Killswitch show they had a big problem with me and my friend standing there. There were no signs or anything saying we couldn't stand there but they kept pushing us behind a pillar so we couldn't see the show. I hope something changes because I do really like this venue!
Chrysti Leigh
Saw Lil Tjay. Concert was good and security had their hands full but did a great job.
Enots Starr
Nice place to see a concert has a nice open floor on the front of the stage. Also they have balcony seating on the top floor that has a bat with a few choices to choose from
The mens bathroom was not Bad no smells amd well stocked. They do have a bag check and Metal detector for safety and security reasons which is fine.
Abby Noel
This venue puts incredible artists in the spotlight. I saw the Tones & I see their FIRST US show ever, pretty cool. One thing I would wish for a fix on was that if you've got pepper spray on your keychain they take it at security and promise it back later, but herd you through the exit without an opportunity to retrieve it. That was a pretty big bummer for me.
Suganuts
Damn this place rocks! We saw NF and it was awesome. This is a great venue for pretty much anyone. The security serves their purpose and nothing more. We didn't order any refreshments while in the venue but they had some. Parking was not an issue nor was navigating to a from the venue.
Aaron Larson
Cool venue, easy walking location with Voodoo and other locations within a close walks distance. Great show and audio and lighting, would see another venue here again. Too bad no upstairs bathroom but not the biggest ordeal.
Justin Merrill
I've seen countless great shows here. Awesome staff, great booking. Security is very thorough so once you're in you feel very safe. The bar and concessions are cash only so come prepared or pay a sizable transaction fee at the ATM. Merchandise for the artists can usually be bought with a card as their management almost always have Square or PayPal. Bathrooms are huge and almost never have a line. They have a no-reentry policy so be sure you have everything you need.
Pro tip: hang out at the bar downstairs if you want to avoid lines and crowds while waiting for the show to start or during the opening acts. Heather, Sam, Jet, Marsha & Jasun are all awesome. So is the rest of the staff but you probably won’t meet them...
Brianne Rogers
The staff are all pretty nice and helpful. Make sure you have your ID, otherwise they will absolutely not let you in. They only accept cash, so make sure to bring cash, or else you have to use an atm, which is annoying. This is a pretty cool, intimate venue. It's a little bigger than others in the area, but that's fine. There is a reasonable amount of parking, and it's not too expensive. It's within walking distance to after parties, which is cool :)
D R
Pretty great venue looks kinda underground could use better AC can't bring your own empty water bottle. But they do provide cold water with cups but who wants to care to that in a rave or anything. Clutch staff saved a lot of people during mosh pits
John Hatzakis
Great venue for a great artist. Like every small-medium live music venue: more air con as more people come, please! While it wasn't a massive sweat fest, it was getting very stuffy towards the end.
Easy to get in and out of the venue and ticketing process was very quick and simple.
Lydia Möller
Went for Rumble at the Roseland (mma event) and bought standing tickets. I expected it to be crowded, rowdy, and maybe not great visibility. I was pleasantly surprised by how great the experience was! We weren't crowded at all, and could see the entire time, despite being in the back! They had craft beer pints for the normal price ($6), and drink service staff who would bring you new drinks so you didn't have to miss any of the fights! Awesome times at an awesome venue.
Christine Laurins
I love this place! Been to over two dozen shows here and had a great experience every single time. The smaller venue allows you to have an up close much more personal experience watching your favorite artist that I would choose every time over a large arena like the Moda center. I love being able to see the color of Kevin's eyes and feel his energy and passion from 7 feet away every time my very favorite and one of the best bands ever, Candlebox plays there. "It's called f*#king Rock and Roll..Look it up"
Audrey Nason
I went here to see Alan Walker with my husband and our friends. It was such an amazing show! It was the first time one of our friends had ever been to a show and it was the best for him to see his favorite DJ. I always like that the staff here are so pleasant and friendly. They also do a great job making sure there is plenty of free water and the bathrooms are kept clean.
Krystal Foster
I've had the pleasure of seeing quite a number of shows at The Roseland Theater since moving to Portland and I cannot say I have ever had a bad experience here. I always jump at the chance to see bands play in a small to mid-sized venue. Worlds better than a huge stadium show!
As a person who measures all of 5'2 I often have a very hard time seeing the stage at many venues. The Roseland always seems to have places to stand towards the front and off to the sides and they also have a large balcony upstairs. This area is 21+ during all ages events.
When attending an event that is not all ages I've always found it fairly easy to obtain a tasty adult beverage. There are several bars so lines are typically kept to a minimum.
I'm not a sound engineer so anything, but I feel like shows at the Roseland always sound pretty great. I can't say the same for some other mid size venues in the area (Crystal Ballroom).
Pro Tip:To avoid lines at the door, show up fashionably late.
Laura Joki
Excellent venue with great ADA accommodations
Brian Hardie (Brianhardie.wordpress.com)
Played the first show of my life here and have seen every single one of my favorite bands here. The sound system is great. Sit up in the top level to feel the bump and chest vibrating boom at hip hop shows.
Kelsey Johnson
Really cool venue hall. Small but nice! I accidentally brought in my pepper spray, and instead of making me go back to my car or making me throw it away, they put my initials on it and kept it in a bin until the end of the show. Which was great!
JD Moore
Epic venue to see a show!!! The fact that Buddy Guy still rips up the guitar at 82 is amazing.
Alyssa Perry Personal Fitness
Located downtown, this theater had a cost check and security to get into. Bathrooms in two places, bar served upstairs, dance floor downstairs. Great place to dance and have fun and they have water to keep you hydrated! I've only gone for EDM music and it's been great!
John Corp
Nice venue, decent bathrooms, nice stage, great lighting, effective staff. Main complaint is the obvious age of the building, but it being a Portland building, that's expected. First time here so I only used the bathroom and interacted with the main stage. Unsure if food is provided here.
Christy Running
Descent priced drinks with Light Fun atmosphere
Theresa Pridemore
The sound is really unfortunately subpar here and has been for years. I would probably enjoy the diviness of it more if that weren't the case. The chairs upstairs are really uncomfortable. The staff is nice, at least. And it's nice to have a bar on the second level. But otherwise I tend to feel disappointed in the shows there. Of course, I'll go if it's an act I really want to see!
Tyson Temple
A lot of good bands I enjoy play hear it's one of the smaller venues in the area so I'm 6'1 so it's pretty wast for me to see the performance it's all standing if your not 21 or get the GA tickets at least for the shows I've seen.
That Guy
Great place to see a show.
Jess marie
Loved it! Bring more reggae shows to spread the good vibes💚 …
Blah Blah
Notoriously not the best sound system in town and the locations gotten more seedy these last few years but they do book prime bands so it's worth it for the good time. Plus the Star theater is right across the street...
Michael Fox
Great small venue, can be cramped for sold out shows and get a little hot. It's too bad it's in a bad area. I'm giving it a 5 star because my wife who is diagnosed with vertigo was having major issues with the level of volume from the crowd cheering, and one of the crew members actually spotted her in the crowd and ran her over a set of ear plugs. The man's a hero. Great staff!
Megan Lien
As a concert venue, I love the Roseland. Whether it's an upbeat show or a more melow show I think that this event space is accommodating for both. It's a big open square floor with some wrap around space up above. Pretty much a typical concert venue: a big open space and a stage. It is small which forces the crowd to bunch together and get cozy for their musical evening. The sound is pretty good, the space is so small that you're going to get the same quality pretty much anywhere in the room. Big show or small show this venue works and I always enjoy myself when I'm there.
Heather Mougeot
I adore the small, close feel of the venue; creating a more intimate setting for events. Even if you are standing in back, it feels like you belong there as a participant; not just an outside bystander. However, I dont like the concert acoustics generally; the instruments dont blend well (giving too much drums, or too much bass) depending on where you are standing in the room and oftentimes drowning out the words.
Samvel Isaverdian
This was smaller than what I had expected, but it was still a great venue when I went there to see Emancipator Ensemble. It actually feels bigger when the room is more full. This venue is great for electronic/dance music events if your into that type.
Nick Figueroa
Great place to see a show. Area that the theater is in is less than desirable. But that seems to be the normal for Portland.
Phillip Mills
I came here for the Tim and Eric show in November 2010. This is a really nice venue for shows. There's a spacious floor area and an upstairs 21+ seating area for oldies like myself who have retired from the pit. Lots of great acts come through here, and I regret not seeing most of them.
Kelly Gavrich
The feel of this venue is very - dingy? Love the intamacy that you get with the band, but not how bleh it feels. Keeping 21 and over upstairs only made for seriously crowded standing room. Some of the seats, all of which are reserved, are actually behind pillars, "obscured view" doesn't really do it justice. Not my favorite venue in PDX, but seems to be the choice of my favorite band. 😕
Claudia Fuentes
This venue is kinda hit or miss. Depending on who the performer is, the line can be great, or you could end up standing next to a bunch of clowns. It's small, so the line to get drinks is usually long. You'll end up standing for most of the shows, but you get to be up close to the act you're watching. A good place to see bands that have not hit it big yet.
michael hiransomboon (mikehiranphotography)
Good place for a concert. Get there early to get a mezzanine seat. Usually they won't let you in with an interchangeable lens camera system so bring your small camera. They have a metal detector so it's a bit safer. Parking is a pain but there seems to be more spots south of Burnside.
Kitty Kat
Very difficult for disabled people to attend concerts
Peter Light
A good venue with good sound. Good enough to look past how dirty the venue feels. But maybe that's part of the charm.
Nicholas Narsing
The sound is good, and it's nice that they have a seated balcony. The interior is grimy and peeling and in need of some attention and care. It's like a really big dive bar. At a sold out show, there WILL be way too many people on the floor. Another reviewer used the phrase "packed like sardines" and that's exactly the phrase that came to mind when I first saw a show here. It was so packed that I had people literally on me from all sides and I couldn't move my arms. I haven't experienced this at any other venue in PDX. They honestly need to lower the maximum capacity for shows here (but they won't because it makes them money.) I'm personally going to think twice about buying tix to shows at the Roseland.
Army Jon
Awesome venue. First time. Got to see Social Distortion. Best seats (other than front row GA) is the balcony, front row. Sound, lights, vibe, and show were epic.
Mandi
The Roseland is one of my fave places to see a show.
Scott Western
Great place to see a concert.
Leslie Palacios
The staff members are very polite and wonderful to make small talks with. Unfortunately I feel as though they water down the alcohol at the bar upstairs balcony which force me on several occasions to enjoy the Peter's Room bar downstairs which don't let me enjoy the events playing at the venue.
Urban Press
Awesome talent buying and good production but the whole 21+ and bar set up is a joke. Went to see Dodgr for a red bull event. Bar upstairs but only for vip. Bar downstairs (away from the music) that is cash only. No working ATM though, you have to go across the street, but no reentry allowed...staff is not friendly, there’s someone who can’t wait tell you “no” at every corner. Easily would’ve spent $100 on drinks but instead was forced to spend $0. Didn’t want to leave a low star review, and I’m sure liquor licensing makes it hard but hoping mgmt will read this and consider some sort of improvement. Has the potential to be a world class venue but is currently a major buzzkill.
James Peoples
Most of the big name acts come through the Roseland for whatever reason. The sound/acoustics in here are really bad. There are only a few sweet spots and even then its not very good. There is only a limited number of people allowed in the top bar, but rather than keeping a count (one out, one in) they only allow a certain number of stamps total. So if you dont get there early enough to an all age show, you will have to leave the music area to go to the downstairs bar to get a drink. The security can be uptight but generally ok-ish. I would only give this place 3 stars but they dont gouge the drink prices and the bathrooms are decent.
Ryan Lee
Sound was great for The Midnight. Would love it if they had a better beer selection. Staff was great and place was relatively clean.
G O
I went to see Black Label Society and it was my first time at the Roseland since I've been in a wheelchair. The staff/security was always right there willing to help, lead me through the audience safely and had a good location for viewing the show. Definitely a great experience.
Megan McNeill
Long lines to get in usually, but love the upstairs 21+ area and the 2nd bar upstairs as well. Ability to go in an out to smoke is good too
The Gardening Ho
Super friendly staff and a good sized venue. We were in the upstairs for a show. My only complaint was when I asked about seating as I have a disability due to an injury. The only ada seating was in a far corner where I wouldn't be able to see the show. I did not see an elevator either so stairs only.
Kristy Bishop
Just saw Gwar here. Fantastic venue. Has a pizza shop on the bottom floor. Easy parking right on adler...
Robert Stone
There's a change in the wind! I attended my first event ever at the Roseland tonight. Dweezil Zappa. After reading hundreds of reviews here and on Yelp in the last couple of days I was NOT looking forward to it.
In short, I believe the venue has listened to the reviews because every event staffer I encountered tonight was making a conscious effort to be personable while efficient. Well, the efforts were NOTED and APPRECIATED!
Had a great event. I wouldn't personally attend a standing room only gig here because I wouldn't want to attend one anywhere. Hey Roseland, thanks and please keep it up!
Stace Karussos
Consistency. It's exactly the same as it was when I went to my first concert in the 90's. So many memories of great shows.
Shelby Roa
A little small but none the less had a great time at a papa roach concert there!
andy morrill
Great theatre and I really love the balcony seats. You get to get really close without the danger of getting hit by moshers.
Shawn Thompson
Have been to many shows at the Roseland Theater. Have always been treated professionally by the staff. Was a bit silly to cut the floor 2/3 - 1/3 for 21+ on 2/3 side and all ages on the 1/3 side for a show I attended recently. Also a bit annoying that concessions are cash only. Seems to be one of the main venues for mid-level bands.
Mikhail Rosenberg
Cool staff and seeing Alan walker was fantastic
Chris
Best place to really get up close & see your favorite artist.Great Staff wants to make everyone comfortable.Warns people before they ever escort people from the venue NOT TO SMOKE IN DOORS.Because its against the LAW! Big black X on your hands means no more alcohol for you but please stay & enjoy the show.the place is really cool & wants everyone to have a good time.so there..5 STARS FOR THE STAFF.
Darren Ward
Have seen numerous rock concerts here over the years. The place can get over-crowded (especially the balcony), and it's a little grimy, but it's rock & roll. The sound system is OK, assuming a good engineer is at the desk. Have seen Kings X, Steve Vai,, Robin Trower, Government Mule, and probably numerous others I've forgotten. There's a bar at one end of the balcony, and another bar downstairs. Also saw Pat Travers on the downstairs stage in the bar. As I recall, there's also a pizza stand downstairs in the lobby by the bathrooms. Cool place to see a show with an intimate setting, rather than a huge Coliseum. The entire main floor is standing only, and the balcony has seats wrapped around 3 sides of the venue.
T Q
Water downstairs in $2, upstairs it’s free. Shows start promptly at the time listed on the flyer, not after an hour buffer like most venues. Standing room only downstairs, seats upstairs. Get there early if you want seats upstairs. Expect a pat down at the door.
William Warnock
Went to see Dark Star. Good crowd, good music, acoustics could have been better. Went across the street to the Star Theater to an after hours show to see Terrapin Flyer with Melvin Seals. Fun night. Kinda shady part of town
Jessica Davis
Take cash w/ you. Decent venue, I went for Motion City Soundtrack.
Joshua Mosley
Amazing place but only standing room and upper balcony
Maria Perry-Crawshaw
Shows booked are always amazing. Thanks Double Tee! Mos Def was spectacular last night, and we had a great time with him at the after party. Only room for improvement is additional capacity in the balcony/bar area.
stacy welker
Smaller venue, great sound. Feels more like ur at a house party for the band. Its one of the only places i bother to see a live concert. Dress as tho its gonna be 100 degrees out. Ull be cold going in but ull thank me walking out.
Riddle's Video editing
Amazing staff, bar did close early after show and so no admit for mech after you grab water but beyond worth it balcony for those who don't want pit and a strong and attentive security for those in it great sound stage on second floor cool enough temperature, it is a rock concert. All in all first class Portland location.
m.w. brooke
i go to shows at least 2-4 times a month, and more often than not i find myself at the Roseland. whoever does their booking is a visionary, because they book so many good acts, and i don't know why. every time a band i love announces they'll be playing the Roseland, i cringe internally. the sound is bad, the staff/security is hyper aggressive to the point of near assault over petty matters and nonexistent when something serious is happening. it's cash only and usually their ATMs are out of service, so good luck if you didn't bring anything with you. most of their shows are now all ages, forcing 21+ patrons to the limited space of the balcony to the bar while literal children clog up the GA. it's a real shame that so many good acts come through the Roseland, because it's easily my least favorite venue in Portland. pros? it's in a convenient location downtown with cheap parking options very close by, and it's one of the only larger mid-size venues in town, so i guess i'll take what i can get.
Allen Barber
The Roseland is consistently one of the best venues in Portland. The sound system is fantastic, and if you sit in the balcony there's no such thing as a bad seat. Keep it up, Roseland Theater!
Jordan L
Great venue to see lesser known and up-and-coming artists. Great location, decent food, and spacious floor. Can get a little rambunctious, so be prepared if you aren't used to moshing crowds.
Dark Fan
Great reserved seating views. GA unless you get close to stage, not so much. Drinks are decent and moderately priced, have paid more at other venues.
Jacob Dean
Neat old-town building with a small stage downstairs and the main stage upstairs. Main stage even has a dope mezzanine. There are bars on each floor but when I went to a concert there, alcohol was sold only at the mezzanine bar. Lots of memorabilia from past shows framed on the walls.
Suzanne M Davis
I saw members of the Oregon Symphony do Cristmas Carol on stage. It was awesome. They were so good. They are playing all over Portland at different places. There were 4 violinists, 2 violas, 1 clarinet, 2 cellos and a drummer. The sound was really good. You got to pick the songs, not to mention it was free. Just a fun, good sounding show.
michelle hartzell
I love this venue. I always have a good time.
Rich Stazrich
Nice little venue. Easy access to parking. The show was good (Tones and I) and the staff was friendly. Overall a great place to hear and see your favorite group.
Joe Cruz
One of the most fun venues on the west coast. Wanna get close to your favorite band? This is the place.
Damon Jordan
Great venue for local MMA fights and concerts. Concerts are free on the tv and projection screen in the downstairs bar. I was able to see August Burns Red tonight even though they were sold out! The bar was practically empty! Such a score!
Mike Manzella
Classic Portland venue for great concerts. I've been going to the Roseland for over twenty years and have seen a wide variety of bands here.
There haven't been any changes made to the place in a long time, it's dirty, dark and is like walking into a rock and roll time machine where you are transported to the 90's when Portland was still a cesspool of sex and drugs.
If there was one place in Portland that has been monumental in shaping my concert experiences it is the Roseland Theater. Those two sketchy as hell pillars in the middle of the crowd, the balcony that feels primed for collapse, the funnel of a staircase all add to the potential danger of seeing a show here, but I wouldn't change that for anything. The sound is great, the venue is perfect for rock and metal bands that aren't massive arena touring behemoths.
Will Richards
The balcony and sound system are not for the feint of heart. Still one of the better venues in town. They have the most variety in shows so the bouncers have seen it all and will not joke about the rules.
Tyler Wilkins
Went here for the first time ever to see Temper Trap play. I liked the venue very much but the sound quality seemed a little off. It was really difficult to understand the opening bands vocals and it definitely seemed like a quality issue.
