Reviews of Red Butte Garden
Chrissy Costigan
I like to visit gardens and nature centers while traveling. I was able to fit in Red Butte Garden on a Sunday afternoon before dinner while visiting Salt Lake City. The entrance is very inviting , you can almost sense the beauty that you are about to experience before you even open the doors. The staff was extremely cheerful and friendly. They took care of our ticketing, one girl complimented my necklace, the other made sure to tell us where to start and guided us towards the map (which was very helpful). There are some many different garden areas … every twist and turns leads to more breathing beauty and an overload of pleasure to your senses as you smell the heavenly scents, see and touch all the different plants and flowers and hear the birds. Everything is so peaceful! There are so many little spots kind of hidden from the main path you could spend all day nestled in nature. There were also lots of hiking trails we did not get to experience. We hiked morning and night our entire Utah trip , including all morning this day, so at this point (our very last day in Utah) we were just looking to experience calm and relaxation and that’s exactly what we got! The gift shop is wonderful and even the vistors center has lots to see if you want to explore more. There was a photography exhibit going on … but also other beautiful plant rooms and even the stair cases going up are adorned with nature! I really loved it here and if we ever go back to Utah again, I will put this on my list of to-dos… and stay there 1/2 the day!

Gorgeous place for a lovely walk and peaceful spots for relaxation.
Wheelchair accessible, some steep slopes and inclines but totally manageable.
Loved the herb, medicinal, and fragrance gardens.
Tons of flowers, bees, and butterflies while we were here.
Lots of benches for seated opportunities.
I think this is a lovely walking space for exercise. You can do as many loops and varieties of paths.
Staff were super friendly to accommodate us, we needed to store one piece of luggage and backpack, as we made this one hour pit stop bedore our flight.

Gorgeous garden. Lots to see. Only wish I could have gone without so many people there. Seemed there was someone parked at every cool photo opportunity. The gardeners were all friendly. Can’t say the same about the girls at the front desk. The views at the top of red butte are worth the hike. Very pleased with my visit!!!

I visit arboretums in every city I travel to and this one is one of my favorites so far. The rose garden is breathtaking. I saw hummingbirds for the first time ever! There are hiking trails here also if that’s your thing! And there are lovely places to sit and rest and take everything in. The gift shop is also very cute!
Ashley Varacalli
We went for Pioneer Day so it was free entry! Beautiful view of the city and the flowers were amazing! It was a great cool day to walk around. I would not go during a hot summer day!
Philip Fletcher
Enjoyable, even in winter. We went for Valentine’s Day and it wasn’t crowded at all. Despite many plants being bare for the winter, the gardens had plenty of year-round plants available to view and lots of reading material if you walk around their water-conservation area, which showcases lots of plants that survive Utah weather year-round with minimal watering. There’s also a great view of the city/valley from up there.
Overall, a positive and peaceful experience and I’m excited to see it during summer as well.
Tanith Brown
This is a gorgeous garden with a variety of flora and habitat to explore. We went in the fall just as they were preparing for their Halloween event, which looks incredibly fun. The whole comlex is accessible, even up to the top, and there are so many paths and nooks to discover, let alone trails around the gardens, that you could visit several times and see new sights each time. The gift shop has a fabulous selection of souvenirs, gifts, and art and the buildings are full of color and light to match the gardens. We look forward to returning the next time we're in SLC!
Dylan Fuller
This is a world class garden and arboretum. Highly recommend. Plenty to see. Good spot for a shady picnic. Or a longer walk. Plus you can learn about the local flora and how to do water saving gardening. And great views!

Visited the gardens in early June. Red Butte has a v good variety of plants n the gardens r beautifully landscaped. It was spring/early summer n flowers were blooming everywhere. The gardens r very well maintained. Spent a pleasant two hours there. Had been there in Oct some years still nice but nothing like spring

We booked this venue in 2020 after falling in love with the gorgeous rose garden and of course we couldn’t have the original wedding date but the wedding team at the garden were so incredibly kind and helpful during that awful situation. We were able to rebook for this June and the wedding was everything we dreamed of, absolutely stunning and Amy and Liz were so incredibly helpful the whole time. The red butte was the absolute perfect place for our wedding and I am so glad we got to have our prefect day here.

What’s a beautiful evening for a nice and beautiful walk in the Red Butte Garden in SLC. A top the hill side of the Wasatch valley, lay a beautiful garden filled with so many beautiful roses, cactus with flowers and many different theme garden on display today.
Lynn Strauss
Even in winter you can walk the garden pathways (which are mostly shoveled) and see the mountains and city vistas. Bring spikes or snowshoes and take a trail from the garden paths. Indoors there are tropical plants but they’re not labeled.
Tori Hillyard
I grew up going to Red Butte but have appreciated it more as I’ve gotten older. It’s outdoor amphitheater is my favorite concert venue and I had my bridal taken in the gardens (in June when the Wisteria is bonkers!).
This year we attended Red Butte’s Halloween event, Boo-tanical Gardens, and were totally blown away. They went all out! It was my favorite Halloween activity we did this fall. The fairytale-themed scavenger hunt led us on a big loop through the gardens (bonus for having plenty of space for social distancing) with a different theme in each area.
Even my two-year old was able to enjoy the hunt because each item was held by a skeleton he was able to help spot. The signage and stories throughout were masterfully done, tying in plant life and appealing to the older end of the age spectrum.
The gardens were gorgeous with their changing leaves, mums, and an impressive amount of blooms still in tact—not to mention the highest quality decorations.
This will definitely be a yearly tradition for us!

Wow! Wow! Wow! This garden is absolutely beautiful, and is definitely worth spending the day here. I’d recommend packing a lunch and eating in the garden, there is tons of cute and quiet sitting areas all over the garden.
Kerry Weible
I'm not a local but if I were I would visit this place all the time. I was there in June and it was so beautiful. I spent about 6 hours there and wasn't ready to go. I especially love the hiking trails that are behind the gardens as you feel like you're in the wilderness but you can't get lost. The only negative is that there is no option for food that I found. A café would be perfect here.
Mikayla J.
I hadn't been in years but was completely refreshed at how much fun this place was. The weather was perfect, not too crowded, great for a picnic and as always, stunning views.
Sunny S.
We visited on a Sunday during a holiday weekend, and there was a little bit of a crowd but everyone is so spread out, it really isn't that big of an issue.
This is such a beautiful place! There's so many beautiful flowers and gardens (my personal faves were the Rose & Fragrance gardens! 🌹🌻)
It's a nice calming and quiet place that's away from all the hustle and bustle of downtown Salt Lake City.
The gift shop is so beautiful too! I almost bought the whole store and brought it home in my luggage with me! 😅 So many cute trinkets and souvenirs!
This place is great for all ages! I saw everyone from young children to older adults to grandparents all enjoying their time here. There was a practice going on for a concert later and everyone stopped by to listen!
Overall this is a wonderful place to come and see if you're in SLC. My only recommendation is to bring water with you! There were lots of slopes going up and down to the gardens and I won't lie, I got a bit tuckered out! So make sure to bring a good amount of water with you!
Amner Ardon
Fun place to explore . Beautiful landscape . Beautiful plants and flowers. We went and without knowing we couldn’t cover everything red buttes has. Plan to stay for at least 6 - 8 hours .
Jacob Landes
This was absolutely worth the entery fee! Its a beautiful aqnd quiet little garden hidden away from the city. The perfect place for a walk, enjoying a book, or going on a picnic! I would whole heartedly recommend this beautiful garden!
LeWayne Ballard
Came to the arboretum as a weekend break from some other tours. Despite it being a summer weekend, the arboretum was not crowded at all. Was plenty of parking, no line to purchase tickets, and not crowded in any areas. Once you purchase your tickets, you head up the stairs and out to the 20+ acres of gardens. There were probably about 20 distinct areas with it's own character.
All the areas looked great. They were well taken care of and all the flowers looked amazing. Throughout the garden there were plenty of sitting benches and sitting areas to relax and enjoy the scenery. You could easily spend hours here if you took your time. Perfect place to walk along the paths, but they also have hiking areas in the park.
Definitely recommend coming here whether it be to enjoy the garden, coming for a walk/hike, or just a relaxing afternoon.
Spring
We had a wonderful morning walking through the gardens. Just beautiful!
Saylee Johnson
Recently performed for a wedding ceremony here. It was gorgeous and the staff went above and beyond finding a last minute photographer when the originally booked one didn't show up. Beautiful grounds!
Eric Peterson
Beautiful display of all kinds of plants!! I would say it's a must not miss aspect of Salt Lake city. If you have the opportunity to visit, do so.
Layla A
We were there at the beginning of April so not all of the flowers and plants were blooming but the weather was lovely and we were able to see some of the plants blooming. The view was also nice and there were plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the view. I personally enjoyed the little waterfall and just sat on the bench and enjoyed the view while the sound of the water is very healing.
Kim Nguyen
The gardens are in bloom! It’s been so long since I visited and I’m glad I finally came back. The paths are lined with beautiful flowers and plants. Along the way, you’re greeted with amazing water features and waterfalls. There’s so much to see, explore, and enjoy especially on a bright sunny day.
Reggie Karikottu
We took the family here on our first trip to SLC. It was a beautiful place to visit! The kids really enjoyed it! The staff at the front desk was super friendly and helpful! There were hundreds of different flowers and there was even signs to tell us the name of it! Highly recommend this place for all families!!
Merrideth Sieckert
What a tranquil and beautiful place! The staff is friendly and welcoming. There were only a "few" bulbs blooming at this time but incredibly beautiful! The pond, the waterfall and the "Moose Family" sculptures are.... Wow! The walk paths and sitting nooks are inviting and well spaced. This would be a great place for a wedding, family reunion or just a great place to visit while vacationing in Salt Lake. The price is reasonable and the gift shop is wonderful! We will be back for the full bloom!
CD
Beautiful place. $7 with a student ID card from any university, $14 regular adult price. The garden is exceptionally diverse and has lots of flowers. Loved the pond, wooded terraces, and fountains. Definitely worth a stop!
Carlos Francisco Rivera
What a gem of a place! Absolutely beautiful. The different gardens are wonderful. There is a cute waterfall. The children’s garden is cute but it is closed now due to Covid. They have different events and now it is Bootanicals their Halloween event. It is cute and perfect for kids. I highly recommend this place. I have yet to attend a concert here but the amphitheater is beautiful. The workers are super friendly. The grounds are super well maintained. This is a must visit place.
Gary Wright
They had a fun Halloween garden festival. Even a crazy little treasure hunt the skeletons holding clues. Year round beauty
Daniel S
Enjoyed walking the grounds. Well maintained.
Lydia Kluge
Red Butte Garden is a botanical garden in Salt Lake City. The garden also has an arboretum and amphitheatre, where they host summer concerts. It is open year-round to the public. Especially beautiful in the late spring, early summer. Half-price admission in December, January, and February (correct as of Feb 2021).
Anette Bauer
Just beautiful! I enjoyed my time at Red Butte Garden very much. The gardens are a feast for the senses, but if you prefer, there are wilder trails among the native trees and plants around the property. Many hidden benches, alcoves and picnic tables are found throughout and would be a perfect place for a picnic. The children's garden has a sweet little splash pad and a small ivy maze that are very quaint, so children have a space that caters to them too. There was a couple married there the day that we visited and I can't imagine a more beautiful setting for such an event. There is also a gift shop, but most items, though beautiful and useful, are very spendy. The price of admission isn't inexpensive either, we spent about $35 for two adults and a child. We spent a little over two hours exploring and enjoyed ourselves immensely. Next time we'll plan to take some of the longer perimeter trails that we didn't have time to experience on our first visit so that we can get more bang for our buck.
Breanna Culver
Very beautiful and peaceful. There's a great place to meditate in the grass plus all of the nature therapy you could ask for. 10 out of 10, would visit again ✌🏻 …
PS
One of the most beautiful and relaxing botanical gardens I visited. Loved the way they categorized different sections of flowers , herbs , plants etc.... one can enjoy , do a picnic and learn about different plants at the same time , so glad I made it in my 2 days visit to Salt Lake City 👌🏻👌🏻it’s so well kept , tidy and lush green , such a treat to our eyes
Matthew Nunez
Very beautiful botanical garden. There are a variety of gardens to explore, each featuring stunning yet pristine arrangements. Fantastic location for families, dates, and even weddings. Took my girlfriend as part of our anniversary celebration, and we loved it! Got some great photos and enjoyed the peaceful environment. Would highly recommend.

Beautifullll!! Whether you love horticulture or you just love to see something beautiful this is the place to see!
I, have a "Black Thumb" and kill practically everything I touch, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy an amazing garden such as this. It was a real treat to visit.
The free tram tour is very informative and I would suggest you take it before you head out on your own. The docent was very knowledgeable, sweet and kind. She answered all of our questions and was quick to point out her favorite areas that we might want to go and see.
It is hill-y. My 80 year old father walks with a cane so exploring was a little difficult for him. My Mom is 77 and is a good walker. She really enjoyed exploring the Garden.
There's so much to see and do here for plant lovers and beauty lovers alike. The Red Butte Gardens are a "Must See"!!
N Maharaj
One of the most beautiful botanic gardens that I've been to. Very diverse, with individual gardens that flow into each other, there are plants from every corner of the globe, I would highly recommend this stop on a visit to Salt Lake City
Trachemysta
This is a gem in SLC!!! I went there to enjoy the garden and found first that it was free in October before 4 pm. The garden is very well organized and was decorated with Halloween stuff, pumpkins, riddles, information and activities for kids. Was very fun and I bet at night it must be much better. One of the most popular top attractions in SLC.
Joe
Hands down the most beautiful botanical garden I have ever been too. Loved how it was set up and you could walk for hours through the garden and surrounding landscape. A must see if you're visiting from the area. There are also so many great views!
Jonathan Alvey
My first time at Red Butte Garden was great. We went to a concert, 3 great bands, and the setting is beautiful. It's easy to get into, the temperature was great, the restrooms were very clean, the grass was nice, the moon came up over the concert after the sun set, and the atmosphere was just really fun to be in. We parked down the hill for free, and walked up to the venue. Getting back out was easy as well. I look forward to attending other shows or concerts at Red Butte in the future. 👍👍 two thumbs up!! Ps. Take your low back low to the ground (so those behind you can see) chairs or a blanket.
Anna B
This was a great garden! We went on some of the trails in the back up the hill and we saw a rattle snake. He did not bother us because we didnt bother him but it was incredible to see such untouched nature so close. The flowers and set up was amazing.
Allison Brown-Elmont
This place is so beautiful and will not disappoint! They have paved walking paths and unpaved hiking paths. The amount of walking paths is amazing. There is a childrens garden, herb garden, rose garden, natural meadow, large pond with several waterfall features and so much more. They have concerts in the evenings and a great indoor reception area.
Merril Longmore
This place is gorgeous. I proposed to my fiance here in a secluded corner. The spring time is unreal. Flowers blooming everywhere waving their little petals at the sky. If you have the opportunity come enjoy a great walk through these beautiful gardens. Bring a snack and share it with someone you care about.
anna pass
We visited this garden twice. The first day we got there about 90 min. before closing time, but they were closing early, so I begged for a furrther opportunity, coming from Italy, and yes they were soooo kind and gave us two complimentary tickets.
I liked this place! I liked the alternance of plants, the rose gardens, the suggestions for your home garden to have a pleasant appearance and save water and help the envornment. I liked the view of the mountains and the places to rest. It was hot and we visited the gardens late in the afternoon and I guess that this was a very good choice. Do not miss them!
kevin davidson
Very Beautiful. Exceeded our expectations. So many plants that were all well labeled. Kids loved the Lego statues and app game available at the time we went through. The nature trails up the mountain were so fun
Beth Adams (CrazyUS)
We have been going to Red Butte Garden for years. We often buy a family pass. Because our kids are older, we recently purchased a friends pass. The friends’ pass is great. You can bring 3 people besides yourself. The concerts are awesome. The scenery is beautiful & tranquil. There are many places to see and explore. The kids’ area is super fun, especially the squirting water and the climate lizard sculptures. Ultimately, Red Butte Garden is great for field trips, serene walks or just a nice and close way to escape the city. We love it!
Timothy Ortega
I Love Red Butte Gardens! What's more to say than that, for people to enjoy the outdoors! We enjoy our experience every time we visit. Bring your walking shoes, and hat, the garden is quite vast, lots of things to see and experience. I enjoy their wide variety of gardens, children's garden, fragrance garden, rose garden, water garden, ect.. There are numerous wild trails going into the foothills, lots of hiking opportunities, Bonneville Shoreline Trail goes through the gardens. Lots of places to sit, and enjoy the scenery. They have a great concert line up every summer, Love this place!
Tinnie L
Beautiful garden!! And it was a great day. I went at end of April soninwas very sad I miss the roses. It would have been spectacular. Thank you free admissions that Friday. I forgot who sponsored it that day though. Definitely a great time there and a small hike up.
Edwin Solorzano
First time here, I was skeptical because what beauty is there in a garden during winter?, Well A LOT! It is definitely gorgeous, the views are fantastic. The facility is clean, clean restrooms, They have a gift shop to get souvenirs, you can plan events here and the pictures found online don't make this place justice, it is worth the trip.
Julia McMillan
We came on a free day in December, and it was beautiful. Our three-year-old loved running along all the paths, and we were surprised that the whole garden is 100 acres. It was nice to be above the inversion. We definitely will be visiting again.
Savannah Butler
This is undoubtably the most beautiful concert venue I've ever been to. It is in a gorgeous location, and as the name might suggest, covered in wonderful garden vegetation. There were clean bathrooms near the stage ground and several sections in which to settle on. I was also surprised, but pleasantly so, that we were allowed to bring our own food and drink. Everyone seemed to be having a good time, and so did my mother and I.
Chris Tyler
I really enjoy walking there trails and seeing and smelling the plants. There is poetry on posts scattered along the trails, and it's updated from time to time. All the plants are well labeled. We spent 5 hours at a leisurely place, studying the plants and labels. It's a great way to visit with old friends.
danny ramos
This place is great! Lots of areas that make for great photos. A wide variety of plant life. If you are there during the summer, I would recommend bringing water as it can get incredibly hot.
M Walker
No matter the season, the garden is AMAZING! The garden is always changing and there is always something new! The staff is great! Fantastic events like the Summer Concert Series and Garden After Dark that we look forward to and has become a family tradition. I wish they would do a Christmas light event!!
Trevor Hansen
I recently was able to DJ an event here and the staff was really nice and easy to work with. Their load in situation wasn't the best but they did make it easier their their help. The grounds were well kept and their communication was great!! I'd recommend them for future events.
Jeremy Howlett
Great place to take the family and enjoy a horticultural moment. They do a superb job here. We enjoyed their Halloween setup.
Talia Wingo
My boyfriend and I came here for our anniversary! It's a beautifully kept garden with a multitude of different plants and flowers, ranging from medicinal herbs all the way up to traditional roses! There are tons of secret little pathways to find, a lovely river (waterfall included), and it even has various hiking trails to traverse! Many places to sit and picnic if you choose to do so, and various events all year long. All in all, a great place to go on a date, hang out with friends, or even just wander around and relax. Highly recommend.
Venktesh Katkar
A must visit in Salt Lake City! The sheer variety of plants, especially the topmost section of desert plans with all the colorful flowers. Some of them need water as less than once a month!
Early morning would be the best time to visit as there are not a lot of shady places to help bear the afternoon sun. Don't forget to pre-book upper timeslot for visit.
Shane Guymon
We went for my company summer party. I say that because I didn’t pay and I’m not sure how much it costs or if it’s worth the price of admissions.
My children loved it, they would have spent more time, but we needed to head home. They really enjoyed running around searching for the various Lego art installations. They enjoyed running through various dirt paths and across bridges and jumping along the rocks across the water.
Jonathan Strauss
GORGEOUS GARDENS. A must see.
Would have given it 5 stars but there is no warning or caring recourse given by the front desk if you show up on a concert day and they decided to close early because of it. They should discount or offer a voucher.
Guy is awesome. Yes his name is Guy. Look for him to ask about the plants.
Crystal Sudbury
This place is amazing!! The grounds are very well manicured, and there are trails around the back that explore the native flora. Bring water and sunscreen if you are going. There is not a lot of shade.
Rachel Rhatigan
Breath taking grounds, legendary musicians, fantastic sound! My all time favorite outdoor concert venue. I've seen dozens of shows here and never have i been disappointed. A few of my favorites are Crosby, Stills, & Nash, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Johnny Lang, Buddy Guy, Tony Bennett, Meryl Haggard, Sheryl Crow, Blondie, and i could go on and on! If you haven't been here, do yourself a favor and buy a membership for $60 per year and check out this wonderful garden.
Kristyn Hansen
So beautiful and serene. I love the variety of plants and scenery and the fact that everything is labeled. I need to go more often for sure!
Chaz
Red Butte Garden is absolutely beautiful! These pictures were taken in November. Even this late in the year things are still in full bloom.
I can't wait to see what it looks like in spring and summer.
Christina “Tini” Magagna
Steve Miller Concert was average, low energy...sound was not adequate. Prices for a $24 burger...humm a bit too high for my budget. Beautiful Venue
Caleb Morris
Fun place to see a large amount of the life throughout Utah.
While the fauna is limited to ducks, otters, and an abundance of flying insects (so many friendly bees!), their interactions with all the areas was quite enjoyable.
There are plenty of benches and shady places to relax and take in the splender.
Tanner Sousley
Great place to walk around, see the sites, and decompress. Very beautifully maintained and well worth an annual membership!
TJ Larson
Beautifully appointed gardens, lots of information to learn, play areas and activities for the kids. We went here for date night and had a great time!
Cris Lira
Red Butte Garden is a beautiful place to spend time while enjoying the view from the mountains and its gardens. The day I visited with my husband it was not very busy, therefore it was a perfect day to be there. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a relaxing time in nature.
Michael Rusanowsky
Absolutely stunning! It's a wonderful place to walk around and even get ideas for your own garden and landscape. They have great trails as well and wonderful views of salt lake and the mountains!
David Compton
The Red Butte Garden 'Formal Garden' is lovely. The concert venue is world class. The visitor center is well done, though thin on botanical interpretation.
The other ~70% of the 100 acres given to them by the University of Utah - what they call the 'Natural Area' - is fundamentally an afterthought. Maintenance is minimal, restoration is completely unfunded. The Conservation Horticulture Lead position is part-time! Interpretive signage is woefully inadequate. Even signage directing a visitor to the Natural Area does not exist.
So, the Garden is halfway there.
Essentially, the mission statement needs to be rewritten, or the garden Director and management need to refocus.
Platitudes about education, habitat conservation and restoration are a sad substitute for action.
Red Butte Garden needs to step up.
For the people who fund them, and for all of the members of the plant, animal, mineral and microbial community that they claim to represent.
Mary Hockenbery
Fantastic gardens. Especially interested in their xeriscape gardens - so many beautiful plants that can thrive in dry conditions. The docent who greeted us was knowledgeable and friendly.
Bradley Platt
Great concert venue. Get there early to get closer to the entrance, but sitting on the grass listening to Howard Jones and Midge Ure was really great. Restrooms were never packed and it allowed for a more intimate setting with good views from everywhere! No restrictions for going up close to the stage either!
Don H.
Very beautiful area! We didn't go inside the gardens, we hiked all around the grounds though and took beautiful fall pictures!
helen
What an AWESOME garden!! So many beautiful varieties and so many great spots to rest amidst the beauty. Two weddings going on when we visited on a weekend.
Farhan Nasrullah
Picturesque beauty! You can go around the whole area within 1-2 hours. There are plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the view. Best time to visit - Fall.
A C
A picturesque view of SLC! The garden is beautifully manicured. The staff is friendly. And there’s ample space for kids to roam around.
Palani Havellana
Beautiful time to come is 2nd and 3rd week on Oct. it’s so beautiful here with all the color! I’m glad I came! Staff friendly, clean and memorable! Enjoy the pictures!
Sally G.
I recently had a wedding at Red Butte and it was absolutely wonderful. My guests could not stop gushing about the incredible location and beautiful scenery. Everything from the moment you arrive was impeccable.
Frank May
One of my favorite botanical gardens in North America. If I lived local I would come regularly to read, pray, wife date ...
Saraswathi Kotcherlakota
What a delightful visit! The staff is extraordinarily kind, helpful and knowledgeable. Take a picnic lunch relax and enjoy the beautiful garden. Lovely. Don't miss this gem.
Tracey Footer
Wow! I’m one of those people who likes to visit botanical gardens and I have to say this one is spectacular! We were here for an event in mid-June. The rose garden is magical and the water features (water falls, ponds, etc) are an oasis. Very excited to start seeing concerts here and to simply have a relaxing and romantic picnic. Not to be missed!
George Sagen
The gardens are well designed and lovingly tended. They are a beautiful escape from the world. There are many shady nooks and scenic overlooks with benches, tables, or grassy expanses where you can rest, meditate, picnic, study, or talk. If you find this review helpful, please help me by giving this a thumbs up.
Kevin Scott
Red Butte Garden is a MUST for any out of town visitors year round. Of course the gardens themselves are amazing, with a spectacular view of the city. The reception are inside is also wonderful with a number of shows and exhibits. These pictures are from the annual glass art show, which is not to be missed every December.
Kate Hickam
Beautiful gardens combined with incredible views of the entire Salt Lake valley. A great way to spend few hours or a day. Be warned the whole garden is on the mountain so you are constantly walking up or down hill but it is so worth it.
Maria Fox
Not sure if I can add much more than what everyone else have said. Other than, it is a FANTASTIC place!! The fragrance in the garden was heavenly and wow, what a peaceful place. Worth every dime for the entrance and no doubt about it, my husband and I will be back!
Vijay Achanta
Must visit place in Salt Lake City. Good hiking trails. Beautiful gardens. Wear tennis shoes so that it is easy to hike the higher grounds as the garden is on the foot hills of the hill.
James S
Great place to visit when in Salt Lake City. The views are amazing and the walk through the gardens were nice. We were killing time before dinner and could have missed it having fun exploring everything.
Cesar Muniz
The single greatest garden I have ever been to in my entire life and that includes Versailles!
Renate Kesler
This is a true oasis. Different gardens to walk through, hiking paths, flora outstanding. Rose garden, fragrance garden, the new water conservation garden with a view of the whole Salt Lake Valley, just to name a few of the highlights. Lots of benches in shady cool places, even some outdoor chairs with cushions. This botanical garden is very inviting and one wants to spend several hours to enjoy nature.

Loved this venue! Bring a blanket, or low seated lawn chair and show up early to get a great spot. You can also bring your own adult beverages and food with you. The only downside is the hill you have to walk up from the general parking area. I'd suggest taking a Lyft as the drop off area is right at the gate.
PS massage
Beautiful botanical gardens. Great layout with a children's area. The best place for outdoor concerts in Salt Lake City
shawn bachman
Beautiful grounds, great venue for concerts. we arrived as the gates opened and were way back in line, but got amazing seats, I don't think there are bad seats. so much nicer than that other outdoor venue. The restrooms are beautiful clean and accessible. The best part, the ease of getting out after the concert, was out in minutes. way way better than waiting hours else where. Brought my own Cooler full of adult beverages and a amazing tuna salad. We had a picnic during the concert. Bring a blanket to lay down people seem the respect the blanket boundaries, where as with out it people will sit on your feet. Red Butte I will be Back
Ashley Olarte
This place is beautiful! Absolutely loved the little hike trails, the gardens were breathtaking! Even though it was pretty hot out, it is worth seeing the different kinds of gardens!
Steve Rempel
Gorgeous Gardens and well laid out. One of the most spectacular botanical gardens I visited in a very long time.
Lynette Jones
We attended Garden After Dark. It was such a very fun family oriented activity. Modeled after Dumbledore's Hogwarts, it taught the children to appreciate plant and their amazing importance in our lives.
Marguerite B
I absolutely LOVE this venue. They offer so many different activities. I love going to concerts there.
KristinandBret Wynder
Went here today with our 4 kids for free admission day. We loved it! So many things to see, smell, and learn about. So pretty!
Benjamin Graybill
Red Butte Garden is arguably the most beautiful place in SLC that I've been to. It's diverse in it's collection of plants and has a scenic view of SLC from the top. The membership is a great, affordable investment and I make use of it whenever I can. Love this place!
A bit of this and that,.
We went October 22nd. I need a cane to get around so it was difficult for me and I couldn't do it all but the fantastic colors we're amazing.
Leisha Roberts
Such a beautiful place. Have lived here all my life and never went. Very accessible for my son who is in a wheelchair. Loved looking at all the different types of plants and trees! I Would definitely recommend you go!
Kyle Smart
The concerts are a perfect date night. You can bring your own alcohol and food to the venue. Bring your own low sitting lawn chair, or buy VIP tickets and they have them for you. The food is pretty decent as well...
Hongfu Chen
Really enjoyed the time there, some of it is under renovation but the part that was open was easily an hour plus of entertainment, most of which is in shades which is a plus.
Cheryl Sneddon
Wonderful as always the Lego exhibit of butterflies hummingbirds praying mantis squirrels is so awesome cannot believe one person could design and construct these fabulous pieces spread throughout the garden. Pack up the family for a morning or afternoon visit.
Raul Ochoa
This is one of the coolest venues in the city. Seriously has the best views and vibe. Bring something warm cause the temperatures do drop pretty low. You are to bring as much food and drink as you want (including adult beverages) just make sure you take out all your trash! One of my favorite venues, just get your tickets early shows always sell out here
Bethany Harrelson
This place blew me away! It was not what i expected. Much larger than i thought and so beautiful. It is easy to relax within the gardens. I look forward to my next visit.
Anna H
Incredible, dense gardens! Great plant identification for flowers and unique trees I've never seen before. Time flew by I was so blown away. Could easily spend 2 hours walking around.
A lot of nitpickers in SLC that bring down the ratings of many places in town.. don't let that deter you! These gardens are well worth the short drive!!
stacy oliver
Must make time for this. Well worth your $! Great place to explore with kids, beautiful date night, great place to bring your coffee and read or meet with friends!
Elaine Barrus
Beautiful and relaxing. Great with kids especially this summer (2018)because of the incredible Lego creations on display through September. Fairly hilly, but if you have a hard time walking there are free golf cart rides with a guide.
Darci davis
This place is the best! Kids love the play area and hiking around. It's so beautiful and great for taking pictures. Highly recommend getting a membership if you have a large family or plan on going more than a few times. I have seven people and it costs the same to go once without the membership as it does to just buy it.
Gen Eric
Wonderful place for the family to enjoy such well-maintained grounds. I like it best because it's not too "commercialized"; it doesn't feel like all they want is your money. They take great pride in their care of the grounds. It's a great day when I can break away and have a little lunch or picnic with families and friends. Their gift shop has unique gifts.
Trevor McDowell
Gorgeous gardens, totally worth the price of admission and time, the Utah political science student with the mesmerizing blue eyes at the front desk is worth going to see alone 🤩 …
Dezember Photography
The Red Butte Gardens is a perfect venue for weddings. They have many different areas to choose from and they are all gorgeous!
Keith Turner
It's a great garden - a pleasant place to walk around and spend a couple of hours.
Amanda W
It was so beautiful, even in late August when we were worried all the flowers would be dead. It felt like going on vacation, but it was a very short drive from slc
StandWith Ukraine
The blooms of flowers change over the seasons, there is something different and something new every time I visit there. Well maintained flower beds, bushes and trees.
John Jacobson
Beautiful park plenty of trails and sights for many different types of patrons. Only down side is events (if you're not participating); wedding going on during my visit had music and microphones blasting through most of the main park attractions.
Brooke Rupp
Red Butte Gardens - so beautiful in the spring. I love the herb garden and the desert landscape up high. We went on a ZAP day which was free. Those days get very busy and parking is hard, but there are a lot of kids and it’s fun for the little people.
Eric B.
This place is fantastic at any time of year, but spring is the best with all the fragrant flowers! A good trail system in the back, too.
TheJazG
Absolutely beautiful place, kids friendly, visit the Medicinal Garden Herb Garden or my favorite the Fragrance Garden. There are a store with products, fragrances and everything you can imagine about flowers and plants , I just love it 😍 🌺 🌸 …
Jaimi Lambourne
My favorite place in SLC. It’s pretty in every season and so peaceful.
Rosyl I
Such a lovely place! Beautiful in the summer and fall, can’t wait to check it out this winter.
Jason Gibbons
Such a great place to see shows. Hardly a poor seat in the place and though the sound can be spotty in areas, that is an almost unavoidable side effect of outdoor music venues. I have been lucky enough to see both John Fogerty and Ryan Adams here and thoroughly enjoyed both experiences. Though there is no alcohol sold here, it turns out to be a blessing in disguise because you are allowed to bring in a cooler filled with the styles and brands of booze most suited to your inclinations. Tickets can be on the more spendy side, but the quality of performers usually justifies the door price.
Sheri Vaughan
I really love this place I just wish the venue was a little bit bigger. I know all the concerts sell out so fast. But it is a beautiful way to enjoy music or other entertainment near the mountains. And of course the gardens surrounding the amphitheater are also beautiful.
anja lane
This place is beautiful and also nature is a good place to go to relax and chill
Susan Williams
My n eibhor was married at the red Bute garden on June 25th 2022.
Very nice place, and outdoor visiting with other people!
There was a beautiful walkway, to see all of the flowers outside!
And also a building to eat meals!
Steven Moore
Amazing place with plenty of unique plants. It is a large space so expect to spend a few hours roaming around.
Eric Marhofer
Beautiful gardens and nice hiking trails.
Jas G
One of the best sunset spots, visit during the golden hour and just chillax.
D'Anna Watson
Great place - especially at Halloween! Great trails, lots of beauty! Worth coming often!
Roger Purser
Excellent Chill gathering place!
Enjoyed the very fresh & cool air!
Very enjoyable 38 Special concert! 😊👍 …
Yvonne Alley
So gorgeous! Great variety of plants and types of greenery! So many path ways and wonderful for people of all ages! Has art also! Water features as well!
Ralph Smith
I love concerts here the sound is great. It's fun to just look at things in the visitor gift shop and walk around and look at the plants.
Cheryl Whitted
The gardens and trees were beautiful. The Lego constructs were awesome. I would probably give it a 5 star rating except it was hot and the splash pad for the kids was not working.
Chris Kinberger
Wonderful assortment of trees, shrubs, flowers and many types of greenery. A great place to visit and have a picnic.
Callaway Gregory
Wonderful place to see a show with friends and picnic. It’s my favorite summertime activity
E R
So amazingly beautiful! The trails are paved and stroller-friendly. The staff is knowledgeable and does a fantastic job with the grounds.
marijke nienhuis
nice place to see al different kinds of flowers and plants. also good advice on gardening with less water. cosy at night with live music on monday . good viewpoints on the city.
MSW
Nice walk through the garden, good amphitheater, go early for garden to avoid heat and onslaught of offspring
Brandon Burk
Great photo location. I always enjoy photographing weddings at Red Butte Garden.
Mark Yambor
We wanted to take in the gardens after reading so many great reviews and we weren't disappointed. This place truly is a gem and this time of year the colors on the trees were brilliant. We took our time and there was so much of this place we didn't get to explore but with it being set against the backdrop of the mountains it was gorgeous. They have so many different kinds of plants and flowers it was wonderful. We enjoyed a nice and peaceful walk around the gardens just enjoying the great weather. We would love to go back and see what they do for Christmas.
Richard Gutierrez
The serenity here is unbeatable especially close to the city. I couldn't hear any traffic, only the wind, birds, and limited people.
Vincent Natividad
The colors are spectacular this season. So grateful to have the opportunity to visit.
Abhishek Tiwari
Beautiful garden, worth to visit and spend time with nature. I had many questions before going there and I couldn't find much details so I am writing this review with my experience and giving details about answers I found by exploring myself, it may be useful for others:
Is there parking?
Yes, free of cost parking but not huge parking. I went on today (Saturday) around 4pm and didn't find difficult to find parking space.
Ticket booking?
I did one day before on Groupon and it was easy to book and staff at entrance very friendly.
Food?
There is no food available inside, I haven't seen even a garbage box. You can bring your food, make sure do not leave any trash behind. Enjoy your food, there are plenty tables at very beautiful spots and pack all your leftover and don't leave anything behind.
Restroom?
Yes, well maintained 5-6 Restroom I have seen.
How much time will take to explore?
You can easily walk while garden and visit most of it within 3 hours. If you are more interested in details, even a week is less. Lots of details for so many varieties of plants. Beautiful trails, creeks and you must explore those.
Is it toddlers friendly?
Yes, I went with my kid and he is 3 years old. Garden is stroller friendly. It is wheelchair friendly as well but you should have some assistance as it is sloppy, can be easily managed with assistance.
How much for ticket?
For me and my wife 14$ each and for kid 3 years old 7$.
What else we can visit on same day?
We visited garden and we were so tired after covering all within 3 hrs we went to City Creek mall, it is just 3 to 4 miles away. We enjoyed food at food court that was having many options and did some shopping. So a day well utilized.
Any advice?
Do not carry so much food and bulky things, In that way walking and tracking will be fun. There are many trails where you will do off road walk and if you have no luggage it will be best.
Cheers! Beautiful place, if you love nature, it is must visit place. You can visit and find garden many place but this one is unique because of its location. It is on lap of mountain and you will have beautiful view of saltlake city as well.
Ouk Choi
I love the beautiful trail and plants. What I most like is the humming birds flying around flowers. It's my first time to see the humming birds in the real world.
Heather Voss
It was beautiful but not very wheelchair friendly... No bus tour and a bit expensive considering we couldn't see all the areas because of our limitation with a wheelchair.
Ruth Myles
We loved this place. Lots of little shady nooks to cool off in. The walking was relatively easy. There is a great children's area. The Rose garden is fabulous. A highlight is the water conservation garden. There are additional trails through natural areas. Something for everyone.
Beth Sandford
Very peaceful and beautiful place to spend the day. Lots of shaded spots to sit and enjoy the gardens.
Anne-Marie Koppelmans
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful hortus. When you visit Salt Lake City you must visit this garden.
Schyler Lewis
Great place for a Sunday stroll and awesome hike.
Jenny Moran
Great place to go for a walk with the kids!!! So much nature to see!!! It's a big garden so bring a snack and drinks, and plan to stay 2 to 3 hours!!! Enjoy!!!
Joe “Pipeliner” Barker
Red Butte Garden is a must see in Salt Lake City. Beautifully set against the scenic Wasatch Range of the Rocky Mountains. Hundreds of volunteers seed, plant and garden year around. The spring time blooms are magnificent and serene.
Sara Harman
An incredibly special place. I hope heaven is close to this. Beautiful and inspirational. Anyone who appreciates nature or botany MUST visit.
Mary Anne Smart
I went here with my boyfriend, and we had a lovely afternoon. Would definitely visit again.
Sindhura Kangala

Beautiful garden, even heavenly. We've been here 3 times and planning to go more. Thank you for maintaining this garden so carefully.
Bon Manhkong
Beautiful grounds with manicured lawns, flowers and natural trails.
Michael Rapp
Beautiful and well kept grounds. Great place to go for a walk with the family. There's a good deal of shade as well so good for a hot day.
Alyson Jordan
Beautiful, well manicured garden. This place offers a beautiful view of Salt Lake City also.
Kimberly Perry
Beautiful! So kids will love it. Great wedding venue!
Jenn Lewis
Absolutely beautiful... Cannot wait to see it all on bloom!!! Very calming place to be.
Autumn McFarland
I love Red Butte and the huge variety of plants they have. I went to see the daffodils yesterday. Although all the daffodils are bloomed, everything is still in the process of blooming. So its still quite brown and gray. Another month and it'll be in full bloom!
Gary Hawley
This was a great place for an after-work stroll. It's so peaceful and intriguing. Each garden is unique and exciting.
annmarie thomson
Love it so much.... Feast for the senses! A must join!!!
Franc Hernandez
Beautiful place! We where there last year in December and we are going again in one week
Jerome KoolAid37
An amazing place to see all sorts of plants from cacti to spectacular flowers, they got it all. They have lots of trails to go on and it will take a few hours to experience it all!
Robyn Salisbury
Always beautiful and peaceful, no matter what the season is.
Jesse Splan
Empty and beautiful this time of year! Lots of Halloween themed placards and decorations for you and the kids to enjoy!! BeaUTAHful
Chandler Kendall
I wish I could have spent more time here. I only had an hour or so but I really enjoyed it. The fragrance garden was a delight.
Mary D
Cute local garden currently set up with BOOtanical fantasy fare. We went in mid October, and there were still some roses bloomed, plenty of plants to admire, and spectacular views. For $14 for an adult and $7 for a kid 17 and under, it was a great way to spend a few hours outside with sights to see and facts to learn. We went at about 9am on a Friday and it was quiet. :)
Karl Jennings (KarlBear)
Beautiful botanical garden with many established plants and interesting hardscaping. Large children's garden and multi-tiered water conservation garden are must-see spots. The garden hosts outdoor concerts in the spring/summer (tickets required). Frequent events held throughout the year.
Oisin H
Oh to be amongst trees and shrubs, cactii and veils of hanging plants! These enormous ancient creatures of whom we are beneficiaries prove not just our need to be amongst them but how richly diverse they can be. Here at RBG the Walk is peppered with interesting finds of sometimes bizarre proportions. Good job staff!
Karen Wimpey
Beautiful! So much fun! We enjoyed every minute!
Kristin
Very pretty, and well layed out lots to do and see but obviously lots of bees and yellow jackets they would part as kids ran through the fountain lol atleast they are docile and used to people.
Conley Gentry
What a great place! We loved the trails and all the scenic views, lots of wonderful places to just sit and enjoy nature. Take a breakfast, brunch or lunch, you could even have your dinner and just relax of a bench or take a blanket for a traditional picnic, be prepared for the walk though. Ideally located restrooms are placed throughout the gardens
Alissa Castro
Wish I lived in the area, I'd get the yearly pass. A very Serene place.
Matthew Casey
Beautiful walk through the gardens, learned a lot about local fauna
Vik Scotty
Beautiful garden. Plentiful varieties of aromatic blooms, all clearly named and described. Very clean and peaceful. Great views of the city and the mountains. Will visit again and again.
Laura Spencer
Beautiful fall day! Need to come back late spring or early summer
Jim Williams
TAB super awesome good times
Yusuf Jameel
Beautiful flowers in Spring. Great place to see and learn about Utah flora.
Sarah Warren
The Red Butte Gardens were amazing! We are big fans of local botanical gardens in order to see the variety of local plants. This garden was very big and you could spend hours here exploring and/or relaxing. We particularly liked the variety of cute little places to sit and take in the scenery. Also- you can get a great pic of SLC from the top of the arboretum.
David Golubev
We visited the garden in January. I don't know how it is during the summer but it is beautiful during winter
Rachel Blake
Love this place! There is always something new to see, as the flowers/plants are changed, depending on the season. Everything is always well-kept and beautiful!
Ty Clement
Seems obvious but I wouldn't recommend before April. A good portion of the plants are year-round but the best flowers are just in the spring/summer.
Mez 1000RR
First time today and ended up getting a season pass after seeing what they have to offer. Beautiful garden and picnic area for family & friends to chat & walk the premises. If you haven’t gone yet, make your way up there and be amazed at the beautiful scenery. We haven’t had the chance, but looking forward to the various hiking trails they have to offer.
Taylor Ogden
Beautiful gardens in a calming and peaceful atmosphere. Simply stunning.
Noah Hansen
Super Pretty! Went for a high school dance and loved it, we planned on only spending an hour or so there and wound up looking around for 2 and half! Well worth the entry cost!
Vincent Nabozny
Beautiful place to take the family or a date for a morning or evening walk/hike. The tranquillity make it easy for our toddler to fall asleep while we wonder around. I'd avoid at mid-day during summer just because there's not much shade but spring/ fall it's great all day.
Md Imdadul Islam
Nice place to feel nature and relax. Thousands of different plants from around the globe.
Jessie Harris
Great for all ages with a variety of trails and accessibility. We went on a clear day and the views were incredible! Lots of helpful and informative signage, too! Very inspiring destination.
Ana G
Relaxing time and nice place to be with nature for a while. Not too crowded when we went.
Arlene V
Spootacular! So fun to see everything with Halloween decor
Ruth Wolfe
Beautiful garden, best when in full bloom (summer)
Jared Peiffer
It was a great venue for the concert. The place was clean and easy to find. Parking was a bit crowded. But it wasn't a parking lot leaving so that's good. The evening air and spacious seating was great and there was food and beverages available. Great experience.
KB Raif MD
Very beautiful and relaxing garden. They have some unusual specimens. Very nice walk.
Becca Kunze
We went to the Garden after Dark event. It was a really fun adventure through their really pretty gardens at night. We had so much and will be back for more!
Tasha Ouderkirk
Soo beautiful! Very enjoyable environment with so many varieties of plant life
Steph Hallada
This place was beautiful. I had more fun than I expected.
Cody Simonsen
Great place for a family gathering and morning. Lately they've had the Lego exhibits out which are fun! Great for kids. Easy to see and notice as well as a good variety of sculptures. We spent a good three, four hours here exploring. I especially enjoyed the variety of plants. The whole trail is well shaded so it's a good activity in the middle of summer on a sunny day. You'll only get fried at the water conservation garden which is like a desert so there's not a whole lot of shade trees. There's also a neat children's garden with a splash pad. Neat little jungle gyms and huts for kids to play in. Fragrance garden is actually fragrant unlike other gardens I've been to. The one suggestion is make is to have more benches throughout the various gardens. Some had a good amount but in other parts I'd go a while without having anything to rest with. Great garden!
Mike M
Very nice garden that also offers hiking.
Sarah
The gardens were amazing, intricate, and well taken care of. The various outdoor seating along the paths made us wish we brought some lunch to enjoy the views and ambiance even more!
Bill McClellan
Great music venue. Loved the atmosphere and scenery. A must visit in Salt Lake.
Andrew Meek
This is a simple hike that is good for families and pets. Plenty of trails to go off on and not too steep either
Stacey Garcia
Love the free days at Red Butte Gardens! Nice way to sample it to see if it's something you want to do as a day long adventure. Concerts are another story...unless you are a member, you will never get tickets as they are available to members a week before they are open to the public.
Julie Meadows
This place is just gorgeous. We come every year for the Garden After Dark and it always exceeds our expectations. They really go the extra mile to make it a really special and fun time for these kids, and it's great for the parents too! Just a beautiful place and great atmosphere. And all the seeds we got last year bloomed beautifully this year, and brought many bees and butterflies to out garden. Thanks guys! Can't wait for next year!
Kira Dunn
I am very excited to review Red Butte Gardens after having my wedding there at the beginning of August! I would absolutely recommend it for any event. The venue speaks for itself- the beautiful Utah plants and flowers and the lovely, peaceful surroundings are absolutely ideal for celebration. I had my ceremony at the Fragrance Garden and the luncheon that followed in the Orangerie. From the very beginning (over a year before my wedding), the staff was absolutely amazing to work with. I got to know many of the event people while we planned everything and I enjoyed working with all of the team very much. They are professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and creative. They helped me figure out the best flow for my event and how to create an ideal experience for all 150 guests. They arranged everything for my bridal photos perfectly and even had a golf cart ready to transport us around the gardens to all of the ideal locations. The list of venue-approved caterers is fantastic, and they helped manage the seating very well too. Everything went perfectly and I honestly wouldn’t change a single thing. Go check it out and meet the events team- you won’t regret it! Thank you, Red Butte, for making my wedding ceremony and lunch unforgettable.
joe pilot
Absolutely gorgeous today. Cold, crisp, clear, sunny, and quiet. Not forget snow on the ground.
Staff friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous.
Sam
Great place for a picnic in the summer. We love walking around the water pond. I think it is a little bit expensive to get a day pass and that is why we get an annual membership. They concerts are great but very expensive for most people.
Dolores Jeppson
Beautiful, tranquil gardens no matter what season.
Shaun Bartschi
Absolutely stunning atmosphere, be sure to leave plenty of time to stop and smell the flowers
Meesh
As the weather gets nicer, it gets busier. If you go in the morning you'll see less people. The staff are always great and friendly. The volunteers and everyone works so hard to provide a beautiful space, all year round. There is a large variety of plants/trees/flowers. You'll even see some squirrels and geese, maybe something else as well.
Currently, with Covid restrictions, you no longer need a times reservation. Masks are still required and safety guidelines are through as reminders. Some of the restrooms around the gardens are closed as well so plan ahead, especially with kids!
Steven Thulin
This was a lot of fun for our entire family. Our older boys took a short hike in the hills while the younger kids enjoyed learning about different plants and playing in the children's garden. They have made some wonderful additions since the last time I brought the family here. The kids really enjoyed the viking theme to the play area, and the snap dragons were beautiful. It reminded me of the garden I planted as a cub scout. Overall, it was beautiful and fragrant and we all enjoyed it!
Alexandra Thompson
Stopped here for the morning while exploring Salt Lake City. Was so surprised by how beautiful it was! A coworker recommended it and it was Halloween so they had a couple villians decorating the grounds. It was a lot of fun and I can only imagine how much fun that is for the kids!
I am glad I went during the day though so I could see the cascading gardens. I think that's what they're called? Basically where the water is sustainably provided by ways of quadrants and hillside. They planted by groups who need water or which need less water. And focused on symbiotic relationships all over the space. I loved learning about what plants work well with each other! I am an amatuer gardener so I felt like I came away with such an appreciation for horticulturists (and other scientists). There is so much that can be learned from our landscape!
I really loved my time at Red Butte Garden. It is definitely a must see for all ages! Well - maybe not high school to college age kids. They may not understand the effort yet. **Nothing against their age group, just something I wouldn't have enjoyed at the same level as I do now.
Andrea Vedanayagam
Really enjoyed the time at this garden. Beautiful flowers and trees very nicely organized and well maintained.
Jeremy Goodwin
Stunning! One of the best curated yet natural feeling gardens I have ever been to. The pictures do not do it justice. Wonderful views of the valley as well and lots of hiking trails you can access from within the gardens.
Nathan Ruschman
Love visiting here at all times of the year. Awesome design and easy to navigate
Nathaly Villamor
It's so cool to hike and breathe.
Marisa Flores
Beautiful and worth the $14. Would definitely recommend for a nice family walk or even date. Make sure to apply the sunscreen and bring water and get ready to learn about the amazing plants our world has to offer.
C K N
Great place to wander around and stretch your legs. They have a fun kids area, small but nice, with a fountain to cool off in the hot months. Good view and a nice time. My family usually gets an annual family membership.
José Aguilar
Wow beautiful place. Alot of plants. There is alot to walk but it's worthy. We love the pomegranate tree.
Nick Jensen
I love these gardens. Very calm, well-shaded, and quiet. They are cared for and planned, with paved paths in 80% of the park or so, but it still feels like a natural area and not a manicured royal garden. There is also access to some wild areas and low-grade hiking up in the canyon with lots of shade. There are plenty of picnic areas for bringing your own food and eating outside. It's also very popular for events such as weddings and their staff seems well-trained to facilitate ceremonies like that.
Generally, the Gardens are also not busy, even on holidays or other days when hiking areas are overloaded. Membership fees are tax deductible if you plan on visiting often. There is a nice children's area with interesting outdoor features that are a little more interactive, but still calm.
I haven't been to a concert at the amphitheater, but I know they are popular and usually sell out quickly. The concert venue capacity is only 3,000 so it's probably not going to feel really crowded.
Kittu Chib
Statues made out of Lego. Absolutely beautiful gardens.
Debbie W
Unique walking gardens. Something for everyone, from photographers & painters to serene walks or reflections of life on a waterfall bench. One of a kind children's garden, fit for all ages. And of course a gift shop to boot! A must do!
Tijs van Limburg
The gardens are gorgeous! There are a lot of lookout spots over the city and valley where you're looking out from an area surrounded by beautiful plants, trees, and arbors.
The staff there is really nice and pleasant to work with. The facilities are great and will be sure to make any event you hold there or any time you spend there memorable.
Alexandra Jones
Fall colors, plus a ton of information on plants and what types of plants live the best in certain conditions
Jeff Watson
Beautifully lush greenery and plants. A great place for a wedding.
Sasha Coles
A truly tranquil place. Come for the diverse species and great programming. Stay for the benches and moments of solitude.
Rees W Bandley
This is a wonderful venue for the performance of music, one that has evolved and improved always lookin for ways to enhance the experience of the patrons. Something for everyone's taste, arguably the widest variety of musical flavors to be found on any one stage. And still managing to keep the price of tickets within reach for most of us.
Dawn Michaud
A splendid day! The agriculture was amazing!
Levi Asay
Fantastic garden. The kids section is great. Well maintained and a wonderful venue for a wedding or event!
Marisol Padilla
This large stretch of land is absolutely gorgeous! If you want to take an invigorating hike or just a peaceful stroll through the garden you can do both here. There is also an educational value to visiting Red Butte Garden; there are little signs that give the names of all the vegetation along with how much water and sunlight they need. They also have various opportunities for volunteers.
The garden also hosts some concerts and seasonal events like Garden After Dark.
It's a great place for people of all ages.
Not to mention, it's a short walk to the neighboring Utah Museum of Natural History so you can go to one after visiting the other.
Karla Rodriguez
My students had a great day here. They learned a lot about plants and nature.
Wyrmfist
Always love visiting Red Butte and today I was lucky enough to stumble upon a goshawk feeding on a pigeon near the ponds!
Tara Kauer
I learned today that they have golf cart tours from 10-1. The lady was super nice and worked well with my client who has autism.
The place is beautiful!! We'll kept! A nice children's garden (wish it could be bigger, but it's still great!!)! The water conservation area is fun and has an amazing look out over the whole valley!!! Great place to read or study or just take a peaceful break. :)
I love it!!
Kristopher Lyman
Wonderful place! Vast multi-tiered cemented garden path with a variety of (some surprisingly long) meandering dirt paths. Insightful blend of natural environments alongside an eye opening variety of plant life artfully distributed throughout the garden. Highly recommend climbing the hill a bit to see one of the many beautiful, well maintained lookout benches. Breathtaking views abound, bring some water!
Lisa White
We had our September wedding here at the Rose House and it was the most lovely evening! The staff made everything seamless. The gardens are such a beautiful backdrop for a wedding and the Rose House itself is such a cool structure! I can't say enough about the wonderful people who make this place function on a daily basis and during special events. They were so kind and helpful from the very first communication to the day of the wedding. I would highly recommend considering Red Butte for a wedding or special event or just for a truly lovely day strolling through the amazing gardens. Our wedding day was so incredibly beautiful because the area is tended with extreme care. You will love your time here and will find yourself wanting to go back!
Kirkwood Donavin
Great place to take a date. Fun educational place for kids (and adults)! They have a lovely venue that can be rented.
Erica Trittschuh Armitage
Gardens are absolutely beautiful - easy to spend a lot of time here. There's a children's garden that includes a splash pad, so bring extra clothes or a swimsuit for your child if you plan on visiting that area. The free tram is a great way to see all of the gardens. We had volunteer Lynn as our tram driver and she was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the gardens. Really great experience and would love to come back in each of the seasons to see how the gardens change.
Jade Fang
Beautiful gardens. Loved the art on display.
Brunza LaBore
This is a beautiful spot to visit or host a wedding, the garden is amazing and fairly large, it takes a good couple of hours to walk through and admire everything. The staff is very pleasant to deal with, my sister-in-law got married here and the catering was great, the reception area was very clean, air conditioned, had big windows so you can see the garden and they even had men's and women's changing rooms.
Karthikeyan Baskaran
Beautiful place for both peaceful and scientific minds, managed by University of Utah. This place hosts summer and winter events and plant sale during spring. Outdoor amphitheater hosts summer music concerts. Great place for picnic and sight seeing. Fragrance and medicinal garden adds flavours to the place. Apart from garden this place also has small hiking trails up the mountain. Good view of city can be seen from the top of trail.
Aaron Tokarski
Amazing scenery! Definitely a must!
Luciana Pagano Salmi
This place is beautiful. You will not be disappointed. I did a little picnic on the lawn on a nice warm afternoon. Afterward walk around the gardens. Its very peaceful and a bird told me there is an initiative to increase the WiFi to higher points. Laptop and great views? Productive, peaceful times? Hell yes.
Byron T
We visited on one of the free admission days. There were no crowds as we had thought there would be. It is a beautiful place. I took notes of the bushes and trees that were 10'-15' tall because I want to put one in the backyard. You know they will grow in the valley because they are thriving in the foothills where the garden is located.
Special time right now: They have decorated the garden for Halloween. Look for the Golden Pumpkins!
Jessica Nelson
This place is awesome. After walking through all the beautiful gardens. We went for hike we could see the Salt lake Valley. My boys had as much fun as me. This is definitely a place to come back several times a year.
Sabrina
Very quaint and pleasant. Unfortunately couldn't see all of the plants where signs indicated they would be due to time of year but would have liked to see those sections replaced with other foliage appropriate to the season. Overall a nice and inexpensive thing to do in town! Upstairs has a nice skyline view where you can see a bit of the great salt lake as well!
Lyz Cao
Very beautiful and highly recommend for all the nature lovers out there. This place offers activities for everyone! Fantastic date idea for all the lovers. Exotic atmosphere for all the young learners. Beautiful picturesque escape for all the out of town travelers. A variety of hiking trails are littered all around the garden for all the avid adventurers.
chad kramer
Love walking around here, always find new things to see!
Lana Dahle
We went for the first time on arbor day. My kids and I enjoyed good conversations about the many herbs, flowers, plants and trees. They enjoyed the children's garden snake, chameleons, little house and climbing pole. I wish there had been even more for them to do. I'm sure the garden changes so much through out the year so it will be good to go back. I loved the orange tree blossoms. Wow! It was so fragrant.
Steve Deverall
Hands down, hands together, the best concert venue in Utah.
Fawn Henderson
So beautiful any time of year. There is so much to appreciate here, from the hiking trails to the immaculate gardens. There are classes, yoga, and tours. It's so worth it to have a membership even if you only come a few times a year. I love the low-water step garden with all the local plants and beautiful cacti. There is a very cute and adventurous children's area with little paths and "secret" hideouts. I'm jealous and want an adult-sized one!
Andrew Baker
Better than your average garden. Though it's easy to get tired of reading about each plant, it's a pretty place to take a walk. It's nice that they have different areas with different focuses; the rose garden is pretty straightforward, but I was delighted by the areas of medicinal plants and smelling plants. The Lego exhibition they have going on is impressive and integrates better into the garden than you would think.
Hazel Rowe
This is a very peaceful place to visit, and to also have a quiet picnic lunch in a getaway place. Our grandchildren even enjoy the many activities to see and experience. The Lego exhibit is wonderful! The concert series is wonderful and very unique. Listening to live music in the open-air with the mountains and the valley all around his fabulous
Brooke Finlinson
My whole family loves Red Butte Garden. We have done classes with the kids at the Sprout House, taken classes through the U Lifelong Learning Program, seen concerts at the amphitheater, attend the yearly plant sales, and simply strolled along the paths. The herb garden is one of my favorite places in the world. So beautiful and relaxing. There are tours and educational programs to take advantage of. The memberships are totally worth it, and help to maintain the gardens. All of the volunteers and staff are simply wonderful. Go to Red Butte for an easy hike or an outdoor picnic. You won't be disappointed.
Sutton Morgan
Beautiful gardens with year round interest. A gorgeous place to walk and relax.
T F Sakolsky
This is a lovely garden lots of separate areas like many botanical gardens. Additionally, there are several walking trails around the perimeters for a healthy walk. A bonus is having the Natural History Museum right next door.
Clifford Hudson
It's a nice place to visit it gots a lot of pretty girls there. And the staff is excellent. They were very helpful
Annie Wilkinson
So many beautiful flowers, two geese, a large pond and waterfall, lots of benches, many different species of trees including Bristle Cone Pine, flowering trees, photography, a couple of lifelike moose, and a very cute gift shop all make for an enjoyable experience. Admission prices are reasonable, too.
Jacob Houser
Even when the weather is ever changing this time of year, you can still find beauty in this wonderful garden. From the top of the hill, looking out over the grounds, to the wonderful collection of fruit trees and herbs and spices, to the truly romatic rose garden, this place is one of my favorite getaways. Weather will be warming up soon and with that the flowers will be out in force! Make a day trip up there and I promise you won't be disappointed.
Harley M
Went to a beautiful wedding ceremony in Red Butte Gardens on June 23rd. It was bright and lightly breezy and perfect weather. A tram was provided to ride from the parking lot to the Rose Garden for the event. Garden did not have bugs and walking paths were clear and clean. The flowers were blooming and fragrant. Water, lemon aid, and delicious salads/sandwiches were provided after the wedding. I just attended the ceremony so I am not sure how much reserving the venue cost, but it seemed like a great choice. This venue does allow alcohol, some wedding venues in the area do not permit alcohol.
Bo Zhu
One of my favorite places in Salt Lake City. Hands down.
R T
Beautiful botanical garden with a great environmental focus and emphasis on water conservation.
Jordan Bradley
Absolutely fantastic experience! Although it's not cheap, (I think an adult day pass was over $15), it is something everybody should do at least once a year. The grounds are absolutely exquisite, and anybody could spend all day wandering the walking paths that meander throughout the property. There are alo several water features and attractions like the 250 foot hedge snake that must have taken 50 years 2 become established.
H. K.
Do not put this one off, you will not regret going over and over again. Absolutely gorgeous, well thought-out, and sustainable gardening. Staff was friendly and informative; during our time there we saw several wildlife surprises including a juvenile rabbit and gorgeous waterfowl. The scent garden stood out, as did the myriad of cacti species that were in large planters along the trail. It stays relatively shady in most areas, but don't forget to pack plenty of water!
Milli Pichardo
Went to watch the TGR Ski movie, it was really fun. Always a great venue.
Len Poole
Great way to enjoy an outdoor walk with amazing gardens
Michael Hunter
Great place to visit in the spring, summer, and fall, if you like native plants to Utah. It is a very big garden with many paved trails. Most all of the plants, shrubs, vines, and trees have descriptive markers.
During the spring and summer you can purchase plants here.
Also during the summer months you can go to live concerts of many quality musicians here, which is an awesome venue. But get your tickets early on most shows before they sell out.
Ally Bee
Beautiful! My kids' dad and I came for a wedding. The grounds were gorgeous and delightful. The reception room was lovely and the staff was tremendously friendly and helpful. We hope to be back sometime soon to enjoy more of the sights.
Caleb M
We come here every year and it never ceases to amaze! The plants are all organized into sections and with huge displays. There are so many it's easy to spend a whole day roaming the gardens. The guides are really great and highly knowledgeable. Red Butte is a botanical masterpiece.
C Roberts
The garden after dark is so fun. The staff creates the coolest sets to walk through.
Kris Olsen
We always visit on mother's day. It's a great place to take pictures with family and friends. The new addition of the water conservation garden is fabulous. We got lots of ideas for our yard. They are always improving the gardens an they are immaculate. The ponds and waterfalls are also lovely and inviting.
Charlie Johnson
Would be great if they had more evening hours in summer. Beautiful and inspiring gardens with cool mix of themes. Some labels are hard to match with plants, and some trails currently under renovation. Very kid friendly; great for picnics; not particularly accessible for people without cars.
Jeremy Davies
First time, really beautiful place.
Cindy Walker
This is the best botanical garden I have ever visited!! Awesome layout and venue.
Amber Blackhurst
Great plants, trees, pond, waterfall, art gallery, statues, views even in the winter! If you're doing the trails, bring snowshoes or Yak Traks and ask about how to access them since they appeared blocked off. We walked all of the paved parts in just under an hour without being rushed.
Ruben Carter (Decks Her Morgan)
I first visited this place over a decade ago for a Suzanne Vega show. Now that I'm back in the area, I went for Howard Jones and Men Without Hats. The gardens are lovely, though I admittedly give more attention to the amphitheater. In regard to view and acoustics, I've always been able to find a location somewhere in the open seating that fits my desire for both. The food is good as well, though you are allowed and encouraged to bring your own as well. The scenery is gorgeous. They always have a wide selection of musical styles showcased every year. Well worth the trip.
Conrad Duerr
There is a huge variety of flowers and other lush plants, both garden and desert. It is very spacious with lots to enjoy, including a hike that provides an excellent, elevated view above the city.
Johnny McAdams
Among the best in outdoor areas and amphitheaters. Every set in the house is great, sound is fantastic with lights that bring the music to life. Go before the show to walk the lush gardens and beautiful landscapes that Utah has to offer. Be sure to pack a picnic along with your favorite bottle of wine for the concert. I also suggest a light jacket for when the sun goes down the temperature will drop and a small breeze will blow.
Mavina Zarifi
The most beautiful place I've ever seen 💗💗 …
Shirley Kimber
It was a wonderful time today at the gardens and it will be even better in a few weeks when the trees are leafed and blossomed. Also when the roses are in bloom as well.
Christopher Hymas
Very pretty area extremely well taken care of and landscape I've been many times. The bonsai tree show was amazing I would go again definitely recommend. Go go go. Make sure to go and every season to see all the different colors.
David Richardson
This place is awesome. Only $10 to walk around a beautiful garden. They have flowers everywhere!!! Lots of cool trails and places to explore in the back of the gardens. They have a hidden picnic area (if you can find it). They have a kids play area that is great. A giant snake they can crawl through, a learning center, sandbox, fireman's pole, giant plastic lizards, huts to crawl in, etc. I have enjoyed walking around in spring, summer, and fall.
Maria Cameron
This is a must visit place in Salt Lake City. It is really lovely and peaceful. The parking lot is pretty big, but as you walk around the park it never seems very crowded. I went on a sunny day and it was just beautiful and soon as you exit building and look at the garden. It is very well maintained and has very nice walking paths.
Steve F
Very nice visit. If you love plants and gardening there are lots of ideas. Good views of the city, plenty of parking, clean restrooms. Plenty of shade.
Tiffiny Tyler
Beautiful garden! Well taken care of, lots of paths you can go on. They have a children's garden that's fun for kids. I like coming here with and without my kids. It's really peaceful. Lots of fun places to sit and enjoy the garden.
Jessica Thomson
Gorgeous venue! I can't wait to bring the kids. There are a variety of gardens; you'll find herbal, fragrant, medicinal, rose, a children's garden, and more. While there, I was stung by a wasp, and the staff kindly assisted with first aid. Nice gift shop and classrooms too. Looking forward to my next visit!
Don Morgan
I have been going to Red Butte Gardens for a number of years, and have never been disappointed. It is a very well maintained facility, clean, and absolutely beautiful. The staff are so very friendly and helpful. There is a really nice children's area, so it is friendly for the little people. I think, that should visit, you will have a fun and educational experience.
Elke Daras
It is so beautiful, the flowers, trees and bushes, places to sit. A very nice experience!
Capri Bailey
The gardens are extensive and beautiful. All the staff were courteous and very nice as we roamed the many paths and gardens, and they were all very knowledgeable about the gardens and plants. Some of the names were missing from plants, but all in all we were able to find the names of most varieties. Very nice afternoon...
jimmy merkley
Great place to go and just wonder around. Went specifically for the Bonsai exhibit and afterwards started to wonder around. One could spend a full day wondering around enjoying the sites and peacefulness (lots of daffodils in bloom along with magnolia and trees starting to leaf). Looks like the children's area would be amazing once the vines grow back. Will be getting the season pass.
Came back with a few ideas for the yard that will be putting into practice.
Staff that was there were very friendly, knowledgeable, willing to help, and gave great directions to different parts.
Worth your time and money, will be getting the season pass...
Tatjana Dixon
A great place to get your kids out into nature! They have a fairly large children's area that was entertaining for my almost 4 and almost 2 year old. There's a lot of places to explore with gorgeous flowers and plants. Be prepared for quite a bit of walking with some steepish hills. Most everything is paved, so we always bring a stroller. We love this place in the spring and fall. We even love it on cold rainy days because you can get most of it all to yourself :)
Kyle Graff
Beautiful place for concerts. It’s small enough that you can take a blanket and picnic to lay out on the grass or your own chair. It’s got great views of the salt lake valley as well. When we went you can also take your own alcohol and beer or wine.
Daniel Zins
Aside from the ponds and small water falls. This place is pretty normal to other local scenery. Nothing special here other than it being a destination. Cost was $14 per adult. Lets see how it changes with inflation. I'm sure it is higher than pre-covid pricing.
Wess Lancaster
I'm not big on gardens, but this was really interesting. They separated everything into different sections, so plants with scents were in one section, roses where in another, etc. The kids section was super cool. They also had beautiful walkways with picnic areas everywhere. The walkways were on a slope that can get really steep at times. U of U students get in free.
Duke Heninger
A great place to take a relaxing stroll. Good for all ages. The summer activities are well thought out and the Ampitheater makes a great venue for concerts.
Jeremy Jones
Rented a space here for an event. It wasn’t cheap but the staff was fantastic. They do a great job managing the event and ensuring the space is useable. They did a good job ensuring we had seating, helping our musician get set up, and generally making things go smoothly. The space was great and my event was quite special. Very happy overall.
Mimi Traugott
Amazing venue with fantastic acoustic sound and views of the Wasatch Mountains. Seen so many artists here. You can bring your own food and drinks, small chairs and blankets for when it gets cold. Seriously the best venue.
JP Pendleton
Beautifully and meticulously maintained and curated, the Red Butte Garden is a perfect spot to wander, observe, and just take in the beauty of the flora. Hiking trails above the main gardens give a good opportunity for leg stretching and a great view of the valley. This is a must-hit for me every time I'm in SLC.
James WA
I love the concert series that they have here. They allow you to bring in your own food and your own alcohol and the band selection is always really cool. The outdoors during the summer is pleasant and makes the atmosphere really fun.
Robert Gray
Red Butte garden is a lovely place to visit and walk through. At different times of the year you will see a brilliant explosion of colors, and every type of flower and plant that grows in the Utah climate. You can also enjoy this experience while enjoying a wonderful concert. There are many artists of all types that enjoy Red Butte Gardens
Paul G (The Hobby Guy)
Beautiful to explore all the gardens in any season. Enjoyable anytime of the day or year. Many events for families, kids, adults. Or just spend some quiet time in the gardens. Want to explore more then go for a hike in the natural areas.
Jaime Tarne
Great place. Nice views even in winter. The orangeria room was the best.
Simona Pimental
Absoltly love going here with my family during summer in Utah. So many flowers and plants it feels like a jungle! Hoping to go back soon
Ted Knowlton
Garden blends into trails and natural vegetation next to the Wasatch mountains. This setting makes it unique among gardens. The programmed gardens use the significant grade changes for drama. Incredible views of the Wasatch Mountains, the canyon, the valley, and SLC skyline.
Deb Santa
We hiked the nature trails above the gardens one day. Go early for cooler temps. Another day we toured the beautiful gardens. So much to see & learn about plants for various growing zones. Beautiful views if the city.
John Stasiuk
Amazing gardens and write what a view from almost every where!
Matthew Robbins
Visited in late April. Garden is all outdoors and nice for walking. There were not many colorful or exotic flowers or landscaping sculptures that you might find in other botanical gardens. Overall would not recommend. Cost is average at $10 for adults.
Jordan Dent
Such a great place for any age, any interest, any one! You will find something to enjoy here or you don't enjoy life. Very nice for concerts as well. For anyone new to Salt Lake or visiting for the first time, check it out. Bring sunscreen and a hat. There is not much shade.
Bob buttermaker
Mad jams at the gov mule show with my beautiful daughter thanks gpa rod for the tix
Daleya Wekluk
If you're going for a concert, be the people that are there standing in line 3 hours early for a good seat!! Otherwise, if you get a bad seat (not somewhere directly facing the stage) you will hear and see almost nothing. I dislike general admission concerts because it means some tickets will be $100+ seats while others are -$20 even though you all paid over $100! The venue itself was beautiful, the staff friendly, but not a great place for a concert in my opinion.
Ro
Wear good shoes; lots of hills to hike. Wonderful views.
Michael Bickett
Red Butte Garden has beautiful flowers, herbs, plants, and trees. The atmosphere is interesting and aromatic. There is wildlife on the trails in back and there is a duck/Koi pond. There are also concerts held here. If you would to go to the museum it's right next door. A great place for a date or family event including strolls and picnics. One of my favorite places.
Bonnie Mccallister
The membership is a great way to visit the garden year around. I have my favorite little hidden spots and love taking a stroll. Also, it's mostly wheelchair accessible which is great for my kiddo. The water wise garden is a good spot to learn about native species and get home garden ideas.
Mark Sheldon
Great venue. There are definite benefits to membership.
Siyi Fu
Beautiful, well maintained gardens. My kids really enjoyed the Children's Garden which had shorter plants and lizards to sit on. Staff was great.
Sage Helton
Beautiful scenery and a great place to go on a stroll through nature. University of Utah students get in for free, so it's an easy and cheap way to go on a date or just enjoy some solitude in the plants. Takes a while to walk all the way through if you stop and admire it, but it's worth the time!
Whitney Sanchez
Gorgeous! I love Red Butte Gardens. It is such a peaceful, beautiful place to be. The concerts here are also top notch -- you can take your own picnic and relax while you watch the show.
Adam L
It has world wide plant life. Also has fish of many varieties which I enjoyed. The hiking trails that begin in the park are cool too. The biggest selling point to me was that it was free for those with a u of u id.
If you are looking for a good and romantic but still very fun date idea, I recommend everything this place has to offer. If you are not a u student, I do think prices are steep, and I also feel like I would appreciate it more if I cared about the difference between a pink flower from Japan and a pink flower from Florida.
Jacob Heusser
Red Butte Gardens is one of my favorite places on the planet. If you're like me and you like plants and landscape gardening, or you simply enjoy being surrounded by beautiful, peaceful nature, you will love this place as much as I do. Plus, they have fascinating events on a regular schedule. Check out the Bonsai show; Red Butte hosts it twice a year, and the Bonsai trees are fantastic. (Red Butte's website has the details).
Kyle Fletcher
Outstanding Gardens worth the entry fee. If I lived in Utah I would visit regularly. Plenty of areas to relax and enjoy the plants and water features.
Paul Stahura
Red Butte Garden concerts are so enjoyable. It’s such a beautiful and quaint setting. Concerts are relatively small so you don’t have to fight a huge crowd like you would at USANA amphitheatre. There’s nothing better than listening to great music on a beautiful summer night at red Butte Garden amphitheater
Nicholas Isola
Came here for a guided walking tour when my family was in town. Our guide was very knowledgeable and we all had a great time. The garden is massive, and we all wish we had more time. We will definitely be returning, since there were a few areas we never got to see.
Lisa Poole
Lovely and quiet. great place for a little picnic.
Mike Potter
Beautiful nature any of the 3 seasons. If you yearn piece and quiet in nature be sure to avoid the summer concert days/evenings. However if the concert admits earlier than concert time might be a way to get in and walk around on the concert ticket price...Main drawback is senior admission to gardens only was $12 on a weekday this week. Seems a bit steep for seniors on a fixed income. Having just turned bonifide senior age last month age am finding senior discounts are still pretty expensive.
Bruce Boyes
Rodrigo y Gabriela were fantastic live, their recordings can't match their energy in a concert. The sound was excellent. It was a beautiful late summer night on the nicely manicured lawn, surrounded by the lush Red Butte gardens. A truly wonderful venue. Even the stone restroom buildings are an artistic statement.
Marty Gold
We had a great day with the family at Red Butte Gardens. The staff were very welcoming and the atmosphere was very relaxing. You can walk for hours looking at the different Gardens on the property and my kids loved it. I will definitely bring the family here again.
Catherine Walsh
Was my first visit to this venue.
Stunning grounds to walk... Nice lawn seating and love that you can bring in your own snacks and drinks in an ice chest. Not too big that one feels in no man's land struggling to see the stage... Great time was had.
Russell DeVoe
This is one of salt lakes best outdoor music venues. The sound quality is good, and the atmosphere is wonderful.
Alex Kolkena
All in all, a nice little botanical garden.
Jonathan Whitley
The amphitheater here is a fun little venue that has some great concerts, and at low prices. Be sure to bring some lawn chairs, or you may have a hard time seeing, the amphitheater isn't very steep sloped.
The gardens are also an incredible sight to see! So enjoyable to walk around. Be aware that the amphitheater is NOT in the gardens, they are separate.
Tyler Liddiard
The Red Butte gardens are a beautiful place to visit. You will need to go in the warmer months of the year which are cut fairly short here in Salt Lake. There are lots of paths to walk and some exhibits inside as well. They also do concerts nearby during the summer.
Shaun Moon
Red Butte Garden is far and away my favorite place in the more "civilized" part of the Wasatch--maybe because it's a lovely balance and counter-balance of the "gardens" of the foothills and the intentional spaces and plants of the Garden. I love Red Butte year-round. I wouldn't say it's serene. There are usually at least a few curious children (other than my own) bounding about. There is, however a sense of calm that pervades at Red Butte.
It's also a wonderful place to see a show. The natural amphitheater acoustics and the sound technology mix for great sound. And the views are fantastic.
Richard and Kayla Savage
Beautiful beautiful place. We love coming here and enjoying a nice relaxing afternoon. Our kids love the childrens garden and the fragrance garden is always delightful! We buy a membership every year. We love red Butte gardens.
Jeff Thomas
Great space for corporate events. The hall was beautiful, the gardens great for conversational walking, and the staff were very attentive.
Some of the chicken was a little dry, it would have been nice to have some sort of sauce with it.
Christopher Cavoto
This was a beautiful place to stroll with my fiancee. We aren't local, but came across this place while trying to drive as far up the mountain in the east valley. They are currently constructing a new area which closed some trails off. Worth the cost of admission if you're looking for a tranquil spot.
Natalie George
Beautiful Gardens and my kids loved the splash pad except there were a lot of bees around. But it is a garden so it's expected. Also they have Lego Statues through the 16th of Sept this year. Also every July 24th is free admission to the gardens. It is busy but fun!
Peter Hemingway
REally pretty gardens, the venue is incredible. My only complaint is the wine and cheese crowd needs to go for the music, not the social hour, or at least keep conversations minimal when the bands are playing. Also, they should get up and enjoy themselves. Its a concert, not a picnic.
Jeffrey Cohen
Had such an awesome time at this place. Snow basically covered all the flowers, plants, but the trees were beautiful covered in the snow, but we were able to build 3 snowmen, do Angels in the snow, and snowball fights. I'm sure in the summer and spring the flowers are beautiful
Sharon Peake
I understand Red Butte is not allowed, by the State of Utah, to require Proof of vaccination against Covid, but they could limit the number of concert goers to a “non-super spreader”amount. I love this venue, but going to a concert is not worth being sick or possibly dying for.
Tara Green
Very romantic walking areas. It’s chilly since it’s right out of the canyon so take an extra layer, especially winter and spring!
David Crosby
Beautiful gardens, the bridge trail was very cool with helpful volunteer workers. Concerts are way overpriced.
Andrew Lee
BOOtanical for the month of October is so fun!
Joshua Gilbert
Red Butte brings the most epic music artists... Steve Miller Band- Marty Stuart & the Fabulous Supurlatives
Rick Scheel
Went to Salt Lake City for business and wanted to go hiking to get some exercise and fresh air. I wasn't xpecting to have to pay, but the $14 admission was well worth it. The hike to the back of the park was rewarded by an incredible view and a beautiful mountain stream. Well maintained trails and friendly staff.
TJ Riddle
The gardens are lovely and staff was pleasant. Great place for couples or families. Would likely be 5 stars, but the Orangerie, Fragrance Gardens and Rose Gardens were all closed off for weddings/private events, and there was no warning that half of the gardens wouldn't be open at all, and we were disappointed to miss out on those.
Ian Robinson
Had a lovely time at the show, great place for a music venue with a huge lawn to sit on. The garden center is also very nice with wide sweeping flowers and exibits to see local flowers and plants. Amazing place for family's and friends to visit for a relaxing stroll.
Christopher Hupp
Red Butte Garden seems underwhelming at first glance, but I love plants and this place was amazing for getting ideas for your own yard. It's also a great place to extend your plant pallet in your own yard and increase diversity with a sneak peek of how the plant can actually grow in Utah. I would recommend visiting the garden before you make any changes to your yard. This garden is extensive and in order to see it all you will need several hours, or you could take it in portions. Again it's a beautifully well kept and curated garden.
Wendy Knowles
Some of the best concerts I've attended have been here! I love the fact we can bring our own food and drinks, even alcohol. Had to buy new low chairs to start going here but totally worth it!
Cassandra Burt
My first time at red butte won me over. Absolutely beautiful. Like a dream. We'll definitely be going back because we didn't see it all last time. My daughter loved the flowers, my son enjoyed looking for lego statues, and I'm thinking date night with the hubby.
Mercedes Hunt
Red Butte Garden has so much to offer. Beautiful gardens to stroll in, a darling gift shop, amazing event venues, a summer concert series which is my favorite concert venue in Utah. Outside of not having dog friendly hikes, there is little I would want that Red Butte does not offer. Entrance is also free to students of the University of Utah. I have visited many times, year round and always leave happy.
Ian Malcolm
This is an amazing place! Lots of beautiful landscaping, beautiful trails, and water. I would recommend this place to all. I will definitely be back.
K B
The ampitheater here is the greatest place for events in the valley. Because of the nature of the grass seating, it provides great atmosphere for everything from movies to concerts and more. Make sure to bring some blankets and low seating if you are sitting on the grass. Depending on the event, they might not check your bag in the way in either...
Ruthann
This has both paved and dirt pathways to take and see native and non-native landscaping. The developed gardens are have a variety of plants with a focus on those that can deal with the snow in winter and hot and dry in summer. We often go here throughout the year just to walk and see what may be flowering. I really like the early spring plants but summer is beautiful here.
Kevin McDonald
Went to a wedding. Everything was perfect.
Tiffany Burk
Had a blast! We have been there before but not with the Legos. My boys still would rather climb the trees than look at the plants but we talk about the different kinds and than at the end we lead them to the amazing children's garden and let them run
Craig Foster
This review is about the Amphitheatre and concert series and not the whole of Red Butte. Personally i think the concert series ticketing system is outdated almost to the point of discriminatory. The whole experience felt like a high school clique from the 1970's. The venue is beautiful, but you can't even go to the actual Gardens with your concert ticket. If I'm spending $60-100 per person, the least you can do is let me enjoy the gardens for free. But because 99% of the tickets go to Garden members, they obviously don't feel the need to allow others in. I interacted with several volunteers and staff and all but one had such a huge superiority complex. Not very friendly at all. Things you should know before your first time... Lines to get in start forming early in the day (6-8 hours before gates open). Everyone brings an umbrella because there is no shade. Bring chairs but there are strict height requirements. You can also bring in food and drinks. Most people pack a cooler. The line goes up the canyon like a quarter mile. They are really strict about no photography. The band that played was fantastic, but the experience is not one I'm looking forward to repeating soon.
Heather Tueller
Such a beautiful place and very accommodating staff. I had my wedding here and everything was so perfect! They even wiped down chairs after a surprise snowstorm so my ceremony could still be outside.
Danielle Callister
Beautiful, intimate setting for concerts. Line up early for better grass seating. Bring an umbrella for shade, sunscreen, bug spray, a jacket, a blanket and low to the ground chairs. Red Butte allows beverages and food to be brought in. Parking is a bit crazy, but there is some. All in all a lovely entertainment experience.
Austin Larsen
Love it here. Always adding new sections.
Pam Carson
Red Butte Garden is an oasis in the desert. What a beautiful place to visit! There are walking paths at every turn with beautiful flowers, herbs and trees. I liked discovering plants I did not know and reading the labels with their names. The kids loved the secret paths and the LEGO sculptures, especially the praying mantis. I liked the eagle LEGO sculpture. This is a wonderful place for families, photos, and strolls. There are many benches to stop and just gaze at the beauty of the gardens. We loved our visit there!
Zhou YU
One of the best sites in town for plant lovers. It is on the U campus and on the back of the research park. It is also very close to the Natural History Museum of Utah, which can be combined in one trip.
The famous Bonneville trail is nearby.
You can go there in different seasons. I would say late summer is the best time to visit, while winter is perhaps the least crowded time.

Red Butte Gardens is most beautiful! It has a very large variety of plants that are well labeled and cared for. There is beauty to be enjoyed every season of the year. They offer an excellent value on the yearly membership.

What a great place to visit! The grounds were beautifully landscaped.
We climbed the hills and had a spectacular view of Salt Lake.
The staff and volunteers were exceptional. Very enjoyable experience.

I just got tickets to a venue at the red butte gardens and it was a very inexpensive show so I picked up a ticket for a friend of mine to join me. I looked at the concert area and being a musician myself I would say that this place is gonna b one of the best shows I would ever attend. It is outdoor GA seating so bring a blanket and I swear u r going to have the best of ur life. Enjoy the show! Tell em Hutch sent ya. 😉

I love how many romantic little nooks there are to have a seat and enjoy the view! Absolutely beautiful, lush, dynamic gardens, with many plants well marked to be able to know what you are looking at. A lovely way to spend a sunset!

This place is great. Nice walks, concerts, kids and adult activities. There are a ton of native plants and trees on display here. All of which are labeled in case you get ideas. If you live in or are visiting Salt Lake and have never been here, you should visit.

One of my favorite places to visit, during any season. And there is a fun play area for kids too. Our babies love the sandbox! Aside from the gardens, there is even a small art gallery where you can purchase local art-

Great trails and formal gardens. We went along the oak tunnel on our way back and it was a great way to end it as it was shady and near the creek. Will definitely be coming back to check out more of the trails

Love, love, love this place! I wish I lived closer so I could go there all the time. The trails are great, the gardens are stunning. Hours of free entertainment, it can't get much better than that.

I gifted an annual membership and have only heard the most positive feedback about Red Butte- a place of beauty and solitude in a hectic life.

Amazing fall colors, it was a nice walk surrounded by the beauty's of nature. It was fun taking the family and finding all the golden jack-o-lanterns in the treasure hunt.

This is such a beautiful place for a wedding. People can walk around the grounds and enjoy the wide variety of plants. Even on a hot day it is cool and inviting!!

One of the few intimate places to go see live music or attend particular events. Tickets sell quickly for popular shows and it is BYOB. What can you not like about this place? Hopefully they will have shows this summer after this whole pandemic thing blows over.

I love this beautiful place! It's lovely as a concert venue. However, I wish security would use loud speakers and more security to prevent running by rude patrons rushing to find a good spot on the hill. I got trampled at Jackson Browne. OWW.

We went at a poor time of year: early March. Most plants were not coming up just yet, but the snow had almost all melted. It was a bit too muddy to enjoy the back trails on foot. Earlier or later would provide beautiful scenery. We will go back in the future!

What a great experience. I had been thinking about redoing our parkway strips in front of our house for a couple of years. I saw plants I loved there and decided to do desertscapes. After selecting the plants and cacti, I spoke with them to make sure the plants were compatible and a proper soil mix. I am really pleased with the results.

I have always loved going to this place. I've beening going since I was a child in the 90's; I even had my wedding there. They are always improving the grounds to showcase the many different plants that can make it in Utah, and even a few that require some help, for instance the orange tree in the orangerie. They also go visiting this place during the covid-19 pandemic down.
They have you buy tickets in advance, stagger entrance time and require masks at all times. This cuts down on the amount of people on the grounds at any given time. Plus the suggested one-way route also helps patrons keep social distancing. This is an attraction that is doing it right.

For brides looking to get married in SLC, Ut...This venue is absolutely gorgeous, the staff is amazing, friendly, and so helpful. They really make you feel special. I got married in the Fragrance Garden and Orangerie. I loved that this venue did not nickel and dime me for little add ons or anything, it's pretty straight forward. You get to use all the tables and chairs they have, they also have 5 big easels you can use, which was awesome. I really felt like I didn't have to deal with anything on the big day, because they took care of everything. I don't regret having my wedding here at all. The only negative thing I can even think to say is I wish you got more than 2 hours to set everything up and more than 1 hour to take everything down and be out of there. Also when we showed up, I feel like the tables should've already been set up and placed since we did a walk thru, they had a map and knew where the tables needed to go. Since you only get those 2 hours, that would've been more helpful. Other than that, this venue is gorgeous and amazing. I LOVED that I got married here.

It was a beautiful day to be outside and what better place to be than Red Butte Gardens. Yes all decked out in October splendor and with Halloween accessories. Loved the visit will go again.

Peaceful, serene and beautiful! Escape to the foothills of the Salt Lake valley to wander seemingly endless pathways to diverse and breathtaking foliage combined with striking views of the Salt Lake valley. Markers along the paths identify each plant, bush or tree so you can increase you knowledge or attempt to duplicate the beauty in your own back yard. A wonderful place to re-establish and center yourself.

Have been to many concerts here - one just last night. Such a great venue for a show. The employees are so friendly and helpful and the food they offer is great! Love the variety of bands they bring in....

Heaven for flower-lovers and non-gardeners alike! We spent an entire afternoon at Red Butte Garden & Arboretum and there was still more to see. The admission fee is worth it. You can bring in a picnic and sit at one of the courtyard tables or find a secluded bench along one of the flower or herb gardens.Even veteran gardeners will find something new to love here. The Sprout House area makes a great stop for children with its topiary tunnels, water play areas, and fairy-tale inspired mini gardens. Those who want a more rugged experience can head out on one of the 100-acre property's hiking trails. Final stop: The gift shop, which contains Red Butte Garden wildflower seeds, great gardening books, and beautiful, garden-inspired gifts.

This place is awesome. The gardens are killer. The concerts are excellent. And the special event venues are great. Most importantly the people here are wonderful. Truly a blessing for the community.

Always a great time, if you catch the weather.

BARENAKED LADIES were fantastic. (This is the best rock band with clean lyrics) they put on a great show. Best venue in town to see concerts. Must have for the concerts. Hat, sunglasses, beach short chairs, blanket or jacket, cooler full of stinky cheese and paired beverages. Thanks we had a great time
Constance
A magical place with beautiful and interesting specimens, lots of places to sit, many with tables and the views are fantastic!

Just too expensive. If I was to have taken a class about plants or water conservation or something, I should pay for that. But for just being there yo walk around and enjoy the displays. Even purchasing something from a show without attending the talk portion of the show. Or purchasing from the store. Why would I need to pay so much for an entrance fee? I wont go back as often as I'd like because of that.

Came here with a friend going to school at the U, she got in free. Caught the end of the gardening season and still found a lot of plants we've never seen before. We loved the roses. Came again on a warm winter day and they were closed Dec 24-Jan 1. Missed such a lovely place.
Beth Ann Giddens
Each garden area was unique and beautiful. Sweet smells bright colors and the trees.
I took so many pictures. Trails for hiking fun garden area for kids. Worth the trip.

I've only visited in summer and fall but absolutely love the grounds. Such a peaceful place to go with people or by yourself. You get a killer view of the valley and could spend a full afternoon here easily. Worth every penny!

I love LOVE red butte gardens!!!! IT is the most beautiful place, BUT I'm really frustrated because every time I've tried going there this summer, they have been closed due to concerts! I wish they would just pick one day a week that they do concerts and close the park instead of doing it randomly, because it seems to always be the day I am available to go!!

Garden after dark was wonderful! My 2 and 5 year olds loved it so much we made the loop twice - the 2nd time not using the stroller! My youngest couldn't get enough of the children's garden.

I’ve only been to Red Butte for concerts. I enjoyed them so much...lounging on a (bring your own) blanket in beautiful surroundings listening to awesome music! It’s such a relaxed, pleasant venue. Very laid back.
