Reviews of Oregon Zoo
Daniele de Oliveira (Dani)
Went on the first of January and they still had some snow from the week before but all the pathways were very well cleaned and salted. Couldn’t see some of the animals because of the cold I guess (it was a 27° kind of day). Some staff giving out some good information here and there like in the polar bear place. Cute Christmas lights all around and enough coffee and food shops. Some fun places for kids all ages to play around too. Totally wheelchair and stroller accessible.
Clauzi Guerini
Wife and I had a great time at the Oregon zoo. It was amazing to see the Polar bears. The zoo keeper calling them so that the public could see. They have a great structure in the zoo. Nice food (must try the elephant ears), great washrooms, lots of places ti site and take some rest. You can see the animals are well cared for. The gift shop is also a great stop, with lots of sustainable gifts. Staff is very polite and helpful.

I felt this zoo is underrated and should be more famous. The setting is beautifully done and each animal is given a lot of space to move around unlike the typical zoos. Probably this was the reason, every animal in here was actively moving around rather than lethargically lying in a corner. This makes it a fun experience for adults and kids alike. There were also some unusual exhibits like - Vultures feeding on a whole deer carcass which you can view at your own discretion, a beaver who has an underwater home inside a tunnel, weaver birds busy weaving pretty nests, playful otters, a mountain goat and much more. It's divided into ecosystems like African savanna, Polar passage, Primate forest, Great Northwest etc. There are other interactive experiences at different times and also a zoo train for five bucks. We went two hours before closing and had to rush through everything to complete on time. Ample amount of paid parking available.

We explored the zoo today and had a lovely time! Two adults, two teenagers and a toddler found the zoo to be very engaging and the setting is beautiful to boot.
We arrived around 9:30 and didn’t experience any wait time and the crowds were pretty minimal. It took us about 3 hours to see just about everything, including riding the train and the carousel, which aren’t included in the ticket price. I don’t know if I can pinpoint a favorite part because there were so many awesome exhibits, truly a phenomenal zoo!

The layout of this zoo is just beautiful! It took just under 3 hours for me to walk throughout the zoo. I visited from BC and it was cool to see polar bears and elephants in person. The enclosure for the elephants is amazing and it was interesting to read up on the history of elephants at the Oregon zoo. There were quite a few animal displays empty at this time of year which was disappointing but overall still a good activity for all ages.

Oregon Zoo is literally the best zoo I have ever been to. They literally put the zoo around the forest and nature instead of taking down trees and making it a “zoo”.
PSA: You have to buy your tickets in advance on the website and the time you’re going to go. Tickets sell fast so get them the day before.
Parking is not free and you have to pay at the stations when you park. Plenty of parking but wish the spaces were a big bigger because it felt very slim.
The entrance was beautiful and you’re just engorged by the beauty it has to behold. There’s plenty to see and I did not think we were going to spend 3 hours there but we did and we didn’t even know it! Food was good and not overly priced like other places. I really enjoyed my time here at this zoo and would definitely go again.

Best zoo I’ve been to. The exhibits are very well done and all the animals look extremely healthy! I love their interactive bits all across the zoo with an emphasis on conservation. The elephant exhibit was HUGE and amazing. Although it was crowded, I don’t think that impacted my experience
Serena Miller
I went to the zoolights and it was so much fun! It was pretty cold but my boyfriend and I got hot chocolate at the beginning and the middle. The elephant building was also open so you could warm up and watch the elephants as well. I'll definitely be back again next year for the lights!
April Allen
Shuttle service was a great addition and saved a parking fee. (Catch it off sylvan exit, sign posted).
Animals all appeared healthy and well cared for. The zoo was extremely busy the Saturday we visited but still enjoyable.
Nikki Kobayashi
This zoo was nice...I could see all the animals. When u get there....u need to get a parking ticket. Price is determined on how many hours u are gonna stay. Then I noticed that I needed to buy my ticket online so did that by the entrance...very fast...done. I enjoyed the zoo even though it was raining this day.
Katie Nielsen
We spent 4 hours here and had to leave because the zoo was closing but the kids still wanted to stay! So many animals were really active. We got to see the elephants giving themselves a dirt bath, fruit bats fighting over fruit, black bears and polar bears up and wandering around their cages, giraffes almost face to face. The only downside was there were a number of animals off exhibit which made Several areas feel a little deserted and the price is a tad expensive. Still very fun and worth it to go back at least once a year.
Dana Jara
Amazing experience! So many animals to see. Easy walking with all paths paved. Purchasing tickets online is easy. 3 hours was barely enough time to scratch the surface of what this Zoo has to offer. Early morning is best to avoid crowds. Will be back!
Jacqueline Carr
Always love taking the kiddos to the zoo. The polar bear exhibit is our new favorite. We always have a great time with the seals. The train is always a must. While there always seems to be some kind of construction going on, it is impressive what they have built and finished since I first started coming almost 2 decades ago. I only wish there was a playground / play structure for kids within the zoo. And while I know it will probably never happen, we would love if they would reconnected the train line over to the park.

A couple friends and I took the day off to enjoy ourselves at the zoo. It was my first time! We took the max in. The station is so cool! Did you know it's the deepest transit station on the planet?!
We arrived in the afternoon, so quite a few of the animals were not around or sleeping. I get it, they're not on our sleep schedule. The animals that were around were incredibly fascinating. We saw elephants, seals, pirhanas, flamingos, polar bears, giraffes, penguins, and so many more!
Any staff we encountered while exploring was so nice and very generous with their knowledge! I loved that! The polar bears never sit right against the window to play, but they did when we were there! Knowing that made that moment more special to be a part of!
The Condor program was also so interesting. I had to bring it up. Be sure to go check it out!
Anne Marie Morrow-Oropeza
Beautiful light display!! I am thrilled that I finally experienced it! I think to go in my car was nice because I stayed warm!! If you like to take a lot of pictures there is the problem of the cars in front of you with their brake lights! There was a very small amount of lights not working, but not enough for most people to notice. The employees were very nice and helpful. We had a car full of people, so it was worth the money paid. I definitely do recommend seeing this, at least once. I am thrilled that the Zoo does this every year to help support their work for the animals!☺️❤️

One of my favourite places to go in Portland. This may not be the largest zoo in the PNW. There is not a large selection of animals but if you know how zoos rehab/care program work, that’s a good thing for less wild animals in need of care. The price for experience is worth it. If you buy a membership it pays for itself in 3 trips. I love heading here and just walking around like it’s a big wildlife park many times a week.
Parking is additional as that’s ran by the city and Washington Park but $6-8 a day and you can also visit the 2-3 other museums and such right there around the parking area.
The Aviary Cafe is my favourite place to get a snack and watch the birds fly around.
Every visit is a new experience, the pass is worth it.
amber Murchison
All of the animals looked to be in great shape and had beautiful habits. Had to pay for parking and tickets online but that was simple to due. Zoo has a really easy layout to be able to see everything without backtrack or missing anything.
Emily
This zoo is so big! If you want to see all the animals I'd suggest a minimum of 3 hours, but if you want to take your time and maybe grab a snack along the way then probably 4. It's also worth noting that most of the zoo is a one way path. This means it can be hard to go back and see previous animals. Make sure to plan any feeding times, etc out in advance so you don't miss them.
Sereah Lowe
A great zoo for all ages. There is a lot to see and a fair amount of snack stands and areas to have lunch with the family. The eagles and cougars like to get close to the glass and the majestic condors are a must see. We've been several times and now that its spring, the polar bears, grizzly bears, and tiger are far more active and playful in the warm sun. Bring a blanket and a picnic or have lunch at the zoos pizza shop or AfriCafe.
Kienen Wayrynen
I love going to the Zoo on wet rainy days. All the animals seem to be out on these days. For it being a half price day it was not overly crowded. Zoo was as beautiful as ever. Loved the new polar bear exhibit and other updated exhibits. 🐘
Joseph Cughan
We went to this zoo on a Sunny Friday afternoon in August, before school started, and it was surprisingly not at all crowded. This is a great zoo, quite a lot of animals to see, we were there for 3 hours and really only had time to see about half of it. It reminds me of Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle as far as size, and the number and types of animals you’ll see.
It looked to my like everywhere was ADA accessible. Bathrooms and food/drinks/vending machines placed in enough areas as you walk through (Prices are outrageous though). It seemed like they had done some recent renovations that hadn’t yet been updated on their map, which was slightly confusing. Really my biggest gripe was the cost, it’s $24 each for ages 12 and up, and $19 each for kids aged 2-11 with under 2 year olds being free. $105 for a family of 5 seems too expensive. I likely won’t go back unless I can get a discount on tickets somehow.
Elizabeth G
Easy to walk. Lots of places to sit along the way. Staff are helpful and friendly. The animals and exhibits were well maintained and appropriate. Prices are expensive but if it helps keep animals safe and well cared for it's worth it.
Brittani Skurok
A great zoo! It has a large diverse group of animals and many that you don't see in other Zoo's. I was especially happy to see the elephant water training which I have wanted to see for many years.
Liza Russ
The tunnel of twinkling lights was fun the rest was meant for going kids to point out the lights in different animal shapes. Nothing super impressive. It was nice to see once. I wouldn't do it again unless young kids are visiting and even then i think the houses decorated with lifts dancing to music is easy way way cooler and it's free 😁
Lee West
Beautiful zoo with well curated paths and enclosures. It was a little rainy when we were there but almost all the animals were out and visible. Lots of educational things along the paths. They have cheetahs which are my favorite and they were right up by the glass grooming each other 😊
B P
Got lucky and a lot of the animals were out and active! Loved how it included a bit of a forest section where it didn't even feel like you were in a zoo but just walking in the forest. You also get pretty close to all of the animals which I don't feel I got at other zoos I've been to so far so that adds to the experience. Fun for all the family for sure!
Serenity Wilson
My parents and I came here so we could get our minds off the reason we were in Portland. It worked very well. We all had a lot of fun here, although I wish there were more food options there. But we didn’t have to wait to get in or anything, the people that printed the pictures for us were very nice and quick. Would recommend coming here with family or a partner.
Hey Baby
Had lots of fun almost all the animals were out. The kids had a great time. The best part I think is the bald eagles you can walk right in there habitat and some of them are close enough you could almost touch them.
Allison Roberts
The Oregon zoo is fantastic! Their main focus is making sure the animals are comfortable, happy, and stimulated. I appreciate all the different areas animals are able to go to get what they need, even if it means I can't always find them. They seem happy and content and that makes me happy.
Lilly Bakker
Pretty cool zoo!!! Pretty picturesque and very well maintained paths for stroller use. Carousel is $3.10 for members, don’t forget your wallet! Pretty empty on a weekday early in the morning. Loved the beaver exhibit and safari section!
Brandi F
One of the better zoos in the USA that I've been to. Animals seem well cared for and the enclosures are pretty fancy for a zoo. I do like the new polar bear exhibit. The only exhibit that really smells is the penguin exhibit (pretty on par with how gross penguins smell in general), but I've only ever been to one zoo that the penguin exhibit didn't smell. They had a decent variety of food between the food stalls and cafes. Of course it's zoo-expensive so be prepared for that. There was a lot for our four year old to interact with too so she definitely had fun. We'll definitely go again, but it's not the best zoo we've ever been too.
Rick Coughlin
Seems to be a nice zoo but a bit disappointing as some of the animals were under medical care or bird flu precautions (understandable), or just MIA without explanation.
Really impressed with the zoo talk about elephants environment, diseases and zoo talk about the older chimps introduction to new chimps.
It would be nice to know ahead of the visit what animals are not going to be available to the public especially for the $24 entrance fee.
Cristina G M
It's is well taken care of, big but not enormous, If you go with kids/ toddlers there are plenty of bathrooms, strollers for rent, super wheel chair accessible, a Mary-go-round ($3.50 June 2022) and somewhat variety on food: pizza, taco bowls and elephant ears (sweet dessert) at a reasonable price.
The staff was helpful when we got lost or where looking for something, you do need to purchase your ticket in advance but if you don't at the entrance they will help you do the transaction in your phone. Oh and it gets ❄️ cold in certain parts so bring an extra layer for you or your kids. (:
Teo Savin
First half was just like a walk in the park. Nothing so see, no animals (no giraffe, rhino, etc.). As we were quite disappointed and heading towards the exit, we got to see lions, cheetah, elephants. Was a nice turn and we left happy with what we saw. Zoo overall was in great condition and lots of happy kids running around.
Cheshie Bonham
The Oregon Zoo is such a great experience. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. It was not overcrowded, and the exhibits had so many vantage points to view the animals. I had fun! Thank you!
Robin Knauerhase
It's good in general, but for Thanksgiving we drive through this year's ZooLights. HOW FUN. The four adults in our car were delighted; I only imagine how cool it would be with kids. It's jam-packed with displays to look at, with great variety & lots of cute things.
Ashley Thompson
With our first time visiting in a little over 3 years, we were definitely pleasantly surprised at all the changes! We were really excited for the polar bears finally after so long! Especially little/not so little anymore Nora as we saw her as a cub! And I had no idea they did so much work to the primate habitat! Wow! Incredible! We definitely made some new memories to a place we have loved for the past decade of bringing our kiddo. Also, yay for the zoo train actually seeing a couple animals now! (Elephants and polar bears) My son's favorite was the new closer look to the painted dogs as well! How cool! But those pups are definitely bored and crowded, so hopefully they all get new homes soon with more space. I did hear when they were born that was always the plan when they were old enough! The new gift shop is also pretty cute, even though as always, it's crazy expensive.
Some things to look out for:
It was disappointing that we walked around the entire elephant areas numerous times looking for the 1:30pm elephant talk. No sign of it anywhere. Bummed. I feel like that can be organized somehow a bit better.
They no longer give out maps, so heads up! That's disappointing for us because we love that kind of stuff, but thankful I thought to print the map from their webpage the night before!
The photo strip photo booth seemed to be out of order, but no signs or anything. I didn't want to risk putting my money in and it stealing it! My kiddo was super disappointed this wasn't working.
The new restaurant near the elephants that's advertised as "pizza and beer" looked promising! I walked over while my son was in line for an elephant ear to try and grab a drink, but realized the chaos it was. You order in one window on one side and get your purchase on the other side of the building. I stood around too long to realize I wasn't actually in line, and while I did, everyone around me was super aggravated for long wait times, missing orders, etc. I walked away with nothing, but maybe they were having a bad day, who knows.
Candice Ray
Tickets are for set times. If you miss your time slot, they may let tou in the next round. Went at 9am, most animals were not out yet. 10am or 11am is a good time to go, but it does get busier as the day goes.
You have to pay for parking as well.
Emily Garcia
Me and my boyfriend came here for Halloween because we wanted to do something calm. It was very beautiful even through it rained . The animals seemed to be very friendly and the staff was also friendly. We got some goody bags and had a pizza. A lot to see and a good walk.
Michelle Tilton
Absolutely loved taking my daughter here! Prices are reasonable, staff is great. Only complaint is how some of the animals looks. Some are really skinny and look like they have mange.
Kara Lane
A wonderful experience! I highly recommend this zoo. It's fairly priced ($24 I believe for an adult), large, well maintained. It has tons of exhibits, keeper talks, feedings, etc. The paths are often shaded and there are plenty of spaces to sit and eat/rest. There are keepers all around for questions and information. Tons of interactive displays for kids and enthusiastic adults.
Davon “Buckcity” Cleaver
For starters mask are optional. I loved this place. My words to describe how I feel is grateful and amazed this experience with my family was grate we will definitely be going again soon.
Ty Ty
For it being our first visit I enjoyed myself like a big kid. Unlike some zoos, all the animals were out. They were very interactive and we really enjoyed the elephant show. Them elephant ears were delicious 🤣🤣 …
Jodi Fleury
This zoo was super nice! Felt bad for the black bears. They should have more room to roam. The one bear seems sad or something, pacing so much. Bummed we couldn't see the polar bears, 1 of the biggest reasons we went
Kay L. Kelley
FYI Must buy tickets online only!!!24$ Adult 19$ child Great zoo. Went for homeschooling field trip. Excellent exercise. Hamburger was ok would like to see juicier, more flavorful. Fries were Excellent.
Harshitha S
Must Visit in Portland especially if you’ve kids. But it’s a welcoming change and serene place to watch all the animals. Since it was mid-July and we were trying to beat the heat it was perfect weather to walk around. Yayyy Oregon Zoo!
Katie Wilson
As an Oregonian, I feel quite lucky to have such an amazing zoo! I've been there for multiple zoo trips since I was a kid, and now I'm honored to be able to share this experience with my own daughter. I've also gone for concerts (it's an awesome outdoor venue!), fundraisers (getting to explore the zoo while actively participating in the Walk for ALS this year was a real treat!), and for various other after-hours events, and they really are all so spectacularly well done.
I appreciate most of all how well the animals seemed to be cared for. The zoo staff includes some of the wisest and most interesting people I've ever met. Just last week, I was lucky enough to bump into Ben D. in the PNW exhibit, and he made my small group feel like they practically had our own personal tour guide, providing fun behind-the-scenes info and tips that really made us feel so special - especially the kids. It was a such a magical touch that made our trip even better. We are still so grateful for him.
Highly recommend showing up at least 15 mins earlier than scheduled time to allow for parking, paying for parking, unloading and walking all the way to the ticket booth. It truly takes longer than you'll think, so early is necessary. Also try to make it for some of the animals' feeding viewings/zookeeper talks - they are always SO interesting. The food can be hit and miss, so best not to be too picky (or bring snacks if with picky eaters). The gift shop is TOO good - I feel like I could easily drop hundreds and get the best Christmas presents.
Anyway, the Oregon Zoo has a super special place in my heart. Forever. So yes, I highly recommend supporting them by checking them out. Often. :)
Beth Buckley
I haven't been to the Oregon Zoo in 5 years so I invited a friend and we had an amazing time! I was impressed with the large elephant section, the new polar bear exhibit, the amazing tree life structures for the primates as well as the fun insect museum. So much to see and do here. Best to allow at least 3 hours and catch the live animal show on the green. The entry is now timed so make sure to purchase tickets in advance and walk thru to the ticket check area next to the mountain goat area.
JeongSoo Doo
Nicely organized zoo with great facilities. Entrance fee is $24 usd per person. They have almost everything from giraffes, elephants, seals, polar bears, and gazelles.
Would recommend 3 hours parking if you want to see everything thoroughly!!
Melysa Pierce
Put on your walking shoes!! We got lucky with the animals!! I was a little sad there wasn't a hippo, but such a great time!! We spent about 3 hours there!! And ended our visit with a carousel ride! We bought tickets for both in advance I would definitely recommend!!
Phoebe Kiser
I love this zoo and so does my toddler. Easy to walk around and lots of large enclosures with happy, healthy animals. Lots of scheduled keeper talks so you can learn about the animals too.
Pavel Murillo
Awesome place. The animals looks on good shape. The closest y enter been to almost all animals. Yeah the train ride is short, but see the ride as a donation to keep things in goof shape.
milly badilly
Such a fun experience. Although it's a smaller zoo, you can tell that the animals are happy and well cared for. It's clean and well maintained. Definitely a Portland must see treasure.
Marco I
Beautiful and shady. Very interesting walking through a zoo that feels like you are in the middle of the forest. It is very clean and all of the areas are well maintained. Definitely worth a trip.
Russell Wisniewski
Despite the chilly fall weather, it was a great visit to the zoo. Animals that have always been hiding during past visits were out sunning themselves. Masks are required in indoor exhibits but not on the grounds. Great way to spends a few hours with a toddler outdoors on one of the few dry days we've had in a while.
Vincent Randy Heslop
One of the best zoo in the NW, well kept, great selection of wildlife and easy to walk. They really try hard to give you a great experience and were successful on this day. I suggest an early arrival and advance tickets, it gets busy. FOLLOW ME for more thoughtful recommendations as I travel the world 🌎 …
Jessica Bell
Wonderful walk about and tons to look at. You can spend a whole day here and still not be able to look at it all. If you use food stamps you can buy discounted tickets for $12 and just have to show the card upon entry.
Angel Hall
What a blast for the whole family, this is our 3rd time but this time we have our newest addition to the family (20 month old son) & it was just as great of an experience as before! We thought it might be a little cramped having a wagon & a stroller for my kids but we got through everything smoothly. My family and I did come Saturday.. not doing much research the day of or before & after parking we realized we needed to have a reservation! So if your family is a go-go-go busy family who likes to do things on a whim & you forget to double check all your ducks… here’s your PSA to make sure you purchase your ticket online ahead of time because they’re not selling tickets at the gate! We reserved for Sunday morning & spent all day (literally). I think my only con is on the Aviary Cafe.. my fiancé ordered the sage chicken breast sandwich for $12 & it was a thin & very plain chicken patty with bread, not $$ worth in my opinion including the small handful of fries that came with it. All our other food and drinks were fresh & delicious though! All in all, we had a great visit & the park was just as beautiful as the other two times my family and I have gone!
Jeffrey Chan
Went here for Zoo Lights last week. It was much better than I thought and I thought it was worth the price of the ticket although its a little more expensive than previous years. The lights were nice, some major gaps for Audio/Music. I really like the one-way walking path through the scenery.
Maria G
We went on a week day. Wear comfy shoes. It’s a big zoo and you’ll do a lot of walking. Take some water or water bottle. Most of the animals are out and you can see them. Took us a couple hours to go see it all. Really cool to visit.
Tami Walker
Our family went to see the Zoo lights! It was cold and wet, but we had a great time! They had the Zoo all light up with animals!
You need to pre-buy tickets on-line. Parking cost us 10.00. We had to use a pay station.
Douglas Hitlin
We love this zoo and make it a part of every trip to PDX! I don't know anything about animal enclosures but the ones here seem very nice. They are clean, seem enriching, and big by zoo standards. The zoo has a nice flow to it and takes about 3 hours at a relaxed pace.
S. P. P.
Systematically groomed. Easy walk through. Takes abt 3 hrs to view seriously. Excellent fun for young children. Good time pass for elderly people. Wide variety of selected animals and birds.
Kirsten Moore
Had a wonderful time at the Zoo. Brought a friend who hasn't been since kindergarten. We had so much fun. Staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Animals are amazing and treated wonderfully.
Cheryl Watkins
This was a lot bigger and nicer than I thought it was going to be. There were a few exhibits without animals, but not many and there were plenty of other animals to see. Definitely recommend checking this zoo out if you're near Portland.
Gabrielle Sun
Yay! Love the black bear, polar bear, and swimmmmming sea otters! Well worth the ticket price! You can also add 5 bucks to hop on the small zoo train. It only covers a small part of the zoo but still a nice experience
Katie Bergio
The Oregon Zoo is one of a kind! Many exhibits and a lot of ongoing work for the wellbeing of their animals in their care and around the world. A lot of conservative work. The food is really good too! The gift shop is a bit over priced...but very cute. Parking is simple and the overall grounds are easy to navigate.
Zoo lights is the best during winter!! Did brew lights this year, lots of fun
Johnnie Lau
It’s a nice zoo to roam around. I like how a lot of trees and waterfalls are incorporated into the atmosphere. The animals there seem happy
HENU G
The best zoo I ever been to. I went in the morning and it wasn’t crowded. I saw all the animals but one. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking was so easy.
John Schiavo
We happened to get a not too busy, not too hot weekend day at the zoo in July and it was good overall. The animals looked in decent care, and the grounds were well maintained.
Sadie B
The Portland Zoo is so gorgeous! I loved all the changing foliage. It's is also a really clean and well maintained zoo. Lots of bathrooms, which is great with a kid. And as the parent of a sensory sensitive kid, I like they have signage for areas that might be loud, suggesting headphones.
heather Smith
The Portland zoo is always one of my favorites! The grounds are well maintained and the Animals are well cared for!The Zoo has a new polar bear and also a new baby orangutan!!So precious! She wasnt wanting to show off her baby though and was very protective as any good mom would be..si glad we got to see them!
Rebecca Dockery
Such a neat zoo. We loved the terrain and the forestry. For a zoo, the food was rather great. And I loved the non plastic water given. The cost of food and water were great too.
Kiara McIntyre
Always a great experience, also better to go on a weekday when it's less crowded. Always clean and the animals always look happy and content. One of my favorite zoos!
Mr M
It truly is my favorite zoo - people are friendly - animals look healthy - just the right size - only reason for not a 5 star is some of the animals look depressed because I’m assuming captivity - we prefer a safari where animals have way more room to roam - but it is a good experience
Jason W
Very nice zoo with great conditions for the animals. Be careful, the lemur almost stole my king size snicker bar. They need to teach some of the animals better manners
A Ortega
Came on a weekday, parking was tight (compact spaces) but the entrance and pathways were easy to follow. Buy your tickets online and pack some drinks with food as it will be hot in the middle of summer.
Jason
I love how theyve updated the enclosures of many habitats. I would love to see an upgraded Aviary. Employees were curteous and informative. Layout is easy to navigate now that the majority of construction is complete. Will return and def recommend.
Tony
Just went to the zoo last week with my visiting brother and his family, he use to be a native here, and stopped going to the zoo just like us due to all the construction, well i tell you what IT WAS WORTH ALL THE WORK, the animals seem happy, and even the monkeys at the integration window, seemed thrilled to see people, and especially the kids!! it was an amazing experience, been to that zoo at least 15 times in my life here in the north west, and it felt so positive and good to be there!! Way to go to all that had a hand in this transformation!!
Destiny Cañez
this zoo was so cool! were from arizona and i absolutely loved how large the zoo is! there are so many animals and the staff are so quick and helpful. 10/10 would recommend going. its friendly for all ages
R. UnSir
Expensive and can be very crowded in the summer. Very hard to find parking. Especially in a full size truck. Awesome animal displays. We found out when we got there that they no longer sell tickets onsite. You have to buy them online. I understand kids are excited to see the animals but some parents need to control their children better. They run into you and push in front of you.
Jessica Raine
The zoolights was a really great experience this year. I have been to the Oregon zoo a few times this year and love all of the recent upgrades. The lights were beautiful, there is food available and it is a decent walk through. About 60 minutes. If you receive benefits such as snap, or have a membership there Is a link to get a discount on their website. Parking is like 2 or 3 bucks an hour.
Jason Templeton
Food was very expensive, but everything else was lots of fun. My favorite animal is tigers, and when we were there they were receiving medical treatment so I was a bit disappointed that we didn't get to see them. Well be back for sure.
Carissa
This zoo was so much fun and better than most I have been too! The animals were so active and up close! Not too packed and they had water/spritzer stations throughout the park! I had a great time, glad we stopped in for a visit!
Malachi Hindle
Great zoo for a smallish city. Nothing world shattering, but well organized with a nice variety of animals and efforts to treat them well. They also have some fun, not-too-expensive semi-private experiences with the animals. They do an annual Zoo Lights events around the holidays that is a highlight.
Jacob Hogan
The Oregon zoo is great, unfortunately the issues come from their ridiculous reservation system that prevents access to the zoo. They are still requiring Covid era timed entry for seemingly no reason which means you have to arrive within 15 minutes of your ticket time and prebook online.
The parking also a complete nightmare and expensive. During desirable times/dates the parking will be full almost immediately and there is zero traffic control done on site to help manage the endless rows of cars circling trying to find a spot. On top of that it’s 8 bucks plus a “convenience fee”.
After dealing with all that hassle and get through the gates it’s a beautiful zoo, clean, and they seem to try their best to provide the best living conditions for the animals. Follow the maps and make sure to check for the times she. They will be interacting with the animals so you can see them in action.
Charlotte Russell
Amazing Zoo, well worth the money for the tickets. Animals have such big areas to roam around it. Only downside is the gift shop os so expensive
Echo Lynch
It is worth renting a stroller at the gift shop for kiddos before you get started on the hike. Admission is smooth sailing, as well as parking if you download parking kitty app. It is awesome that you can take in your own water and food. It was a nice walk downhill most of the time. I'm not in super shape and the 1.3 mile walk was enjoyable. There is plenty of places to rest but I didnt seem to need them. The staff is pleasant and we would attend again if in the area.
Jill Switzer
We got to see so many animals up close and personal! Only complaint was that we didn't see a map at the entrance, just a QR code that wouldn't scan, so we didn't know that we were supposed to walk in one direction, to the left. Otherwise, it was a fun visit!
M Kolodij
I like this zoo. There is plenty of walking and lots of shade. The exhibits appear to be clean and modern with spacious and clean enclosures. There are lots of choices for eating but I wish some of the soda vending machines took credit cards or touchless payments.
Angie Korol
We renewed our membership and enjoyed a day at the Zoo! There were plenty of people, but not too many.
Luke O
Great zoo, nice loops to follow by organized by region. Don’t have to see them all if you have little kids. Bring a stroller with kids, lot of walking. Expensive food options, may want to bring a lunch.
Diane Shaw Sawyer
I had not been to the zoo for 25 years when my daughter went to college at PSU. It still my favorite zoo ever!! We went with our grandchildren and we had a great time 😊 …
Zach Grigsby
Musy get ticket in advance. We arrived just as they were opening at 9:30 we spent three and a half hours here. We saw most of the animals I would suggest taking 5 hours or so to really take some time to watch and look at everything
JEREMY VALENTINE
Absolutely love this zoo even on a rainy day. We got to do both the carousel and the train. My kids favorite animals are the big cats and with the rain the cats were all up close to the windows. Always a great time.
J List
Beautiful zoo! The exhibits are well done, most have a very natural setting and lots of room for the animals.
Yi Kao
Such a cute zoo and nice to walk around. Better come here early as it gets crowded easily on weekend. Limited parking
Anwesha Pan
We visited Oregon zoo for Christmas lights which was a great experience. We loved walking in the zoo and explore different lights with music as well.
The train ride was just perfect and was the cherry on the top 😍 it was the choo choo train 🚂
Emma
Great zoo light experience. Paid parkings are available and we had no problem finding parking. Warm and weather proof clothes are recommended.
Matthew Barnard
The park is meant to be one way (there was certain doors you'd go through and you couldnt go back unless you go all the way around again. We were able to go around about 3.5 times). Couldn't see any Tiger or Rhino. The Orangutan mother and baby were in the den so we couldnt see them either.
Larissa L
We had a great time. Zoo is always clean, and the animals are well taken care of. Can't wait for Zoo lights!!
Saloni vj
Fun place to go with kids!! Enjoyed a lot. We spent almost 6 hours in this zoo.
Janmarie Weston
The Oregon Zoo is fabulous. They have Don a great job creating excellent habitats for the animals. The volunteer staff is helpful and well informed.
Arbor Byrd
All of the animals seemed happy except for one or two (more on that later) - clean facilities and they even moved the birds inside to protect them from avian flu, which any bird lover will know is very very contagious.
Three stars because
... Well, the polar bear was pacing manically when we entered the zoo and when we left the zoo they were still pacing the same way. It was a warmer day out (about 80-90°), and they had worn a divot in the dirt right along the chain link fence.
I cannot stress how well cared for the animals all were and how clearly loved they were. However, the polar bear and one of the gazelles (which was also agitated and pacing the same worn trail, though they had chosen a longer path than the polar bear had) seemed to be so listless it was heartbreaking. I understand the difference between poached and abducted animals trapped in cages for viewing pleasure and *a genuine conservation effort* such as what you see here; but sometimes you really wonder if this is the happiest the animal can be in captivity.
The brown bears as well seemed a bit depressed, but frankly I've seen bears in the wild looking even rougher, so I'll chalk that up to sleepy bears lacking the motivation to clean themselves in general.
All in all, don't buy vending machine dippin dots, don't linger by the polar bear (you'll be sad), and if a fish looks dead, watch the eyes. I promise they're sleeping.
Richard “Finn” Niskanen
I’m unsure of the cost because it was a gift from my sister in law. She also paid to ride the train. It really was a beautiful night… even in the cold rain. Dress appropriately ❣️
Sofia Lightfield
One of the best zoos I've been to. They take great care of the animals and provide them beautiful habitats. the grounds are clean and classic PNW feels as you walk through the greenery or take the little train♡ I live in the gorge and I bought a membership so I can stop in when I'm in portland .
Deanna Lagrand Yeakle
This is such a wonderful place. We love the exhibits. There are lots of things to see under shelter if it's raining. After all, this is the PNW. There are cafes with reasonable prices. If we lived just a bit closer to Portland, we would get annual passes. It's great for families and for retired folk. If you need a scooter, you can rent one. The price is pretty reasonable. Be sure to make reservations. We've never been turned away for not having them, but we could have been. I think they are protecting the animals and the grounds from overcrowding. Go and make your own memories.
Craig Boline
Great Zoo! Every exhibit had an active animal. There are helpful signs, wonderful views, and a large variety.
There were a handful of closed items, but not enough to be a problem. We went in the morning and it wasn’t too crowded until 11:30a or so. We didn’t eat here but there are options for food that doesn’t seem too expensive (for a zoo).
They don’t do much to enforce the mask policy, most people are ok about it though.
Jessica Hughes
Had an absolute blast!!!!! The key wasn't necessary, honestly I think we saw 3 spots. The pizza was delicious, the grounds were well kept. The staff was incredibly friendly, even kicking us out at 5:30pm, they were nice about it. The animals are beautiful, and new otters, and bugs coming soon. The chitlins had a blast, grandma and grandpa really enjoyed this fun little trip.
Benjamin Lebehn
Such a fun experience and great zoo! We got to watch a blood draw for a polar bear today and that was exciting! Keep an eye out for the baby orangutan!
Jennifer P
Membership is worth it if you live close enough. Parking is a bit difficult because the spots are small, hard to park SUV/van (most cars are SUV/van, bc you know, this is portland, and most ppl who come to the zoo have kids and have a larger car)... The paths to walk around are many times too narrow, so we feel pressured to keep moving along instead of having a chance to stop and watch the animals - this is especially true with the bears and lions. It's more open where the elephants are. I like that you're welcome to bring your own food and have a picnic - there's a lawn where you could sit and eat - awesome! Overall, we're glad to live within 30 minutes to make our annual membership worth it. Member services and zoo folks are also very pleasant to speak to.
Nome
Beautiful, natural setting. We visited in the afternoon and the animals were less active. I'd recommend going early. Still lots of fun and beautiful.
Bernard Ana Banta
It was so Fun! Purchased tickets ahead of time, no waiting. Parking is tight, smaller cars better. There is hills, but accessible in wheelchair walking around. Some benches and tables. Water filling stations. Park is Clean and friendly employees.
Σαμουήλ
Hands down the best zoo in Portland ever! You'll need a whole day here to get around and see everything. Animals looked healthy and enclosures were clean well maintained. Amazing close up views, beautiful Western Red Cedar Trees Not like other zoos where you can't see anything or there's nothing there. Had a great time for sure. I loved the Eagles! Thank you Oregon Zoo.
Rosio Léon Velasco-Stoll
On our family vacay, we took a visit to the Zoo. There were somethings that we liked and others we felt could be a little better comparing to our Fresno Zoo. It was still a nice visit.
Jenny Cook
Oregon zoo is always a great time. Excellent habitats tucked into the beautiful west hills of Portland. We love our zoo.
Emily K
Very expensive (at least for adults). But nice exhibits. There was no wait for the line, but we bought the tickets in advance which was easy. I would recommend going the opposite way of the traffic, as the end of the loop is much less crowded. So go to the right when you get there instead of following the crowds to the left
Megan Reynolds
We have had a membership for 2 years. We go often, and it's always so much fun. Lots of walking and some uphill walking so bring good shoes.
Ali Haider
Great zoo, have a variety of animals, other than tiger and rhinoceros we were able to see all of them, great viewing points, specially the cheetah exhibit, will recommend it to everyone
Trent G
Its been acouple years since ive been to the Oregon zoo (it was right after they finished the new elephant enclosure). I absolutely loved every minute of it and I was 26 years old lol! The staff was helpful and polite. It's an awesome place to go for the whole family..
Just be wary of HW 26 it gets backed up alot!
Rich Sal
#Jeff the grounds keeper give us a great tour.
I never realize the amount of work that goes into the grounds from season to season. Jeff knows his business And was full of insight.
Thanks Jeff you rock at you job
Sara Bauer
Really fun time! Easy to rent a scooter for mobility issues. Lots of misters to help keep cool.
Brandon Cunningham
I felt this zoo is underrated and should be more famous. The setting is beautifully done and each animal is given a lot of space to move around unlike the typical zoos.
David Jones
I love the Zoo, so does my daughter. She would happily go every day if I let her. Zoo lights is also amazing during the holidays
Mattias Vel Zandt
This zoo, seated in a sort of complex or recreational activities (trails, gardens, etc,) features exhibits of various animals/insects. The park is laid out with an efficient walkway, that allows patrons to visit all the exhibits without having to double back. There's even a nice halfway-point, to rest or get food/drink.
It is definitely a once-a-year visit, at least. And if you are visiting from the Eastside, take the MAX to avoid having to find parking.
Claire White
Pleasantly surprised! Got there right when it opened and headed straight to the red panda! Glad we did, because they were walking around and active. Went back later to see the red panda snoozing. Loved the layout and the exhibits. Animals seemed active and well cared for.
Lisa Marlana Hawk
This is a absolutely must visit destination 😊 we had a great time and saw a large variety of animals and even watched some of them at feeding time which was a blast. The restrooms were very clean and all park attendants were friendly we spent 3 hrs walking around and enjoying the different features.thanks Oregon zoo for an amazing time!!!
John Bartley
The Oregon zoo is a very clean zoo with nice rolling hill paths perfect for stroller use. There are several places to eat and even a few serving alcohol however they were closed when I went. Also unfortunately many exhibits were closed as well. Overall it's a nice zoo to visit.
John Phelan
A fantastic zoo, excellently layed out and easy to get around. Our toddler loves going here.
Brenda Stedman
They should tell you to enjoy the Christmas lights. It doesn't matter what time your train is. You walk one way through all the zoo lights winding your way to the train. Covid has the train at the end of your night. Do not run to the train and miss all he amazing light.
charles compton
Great zoo. Great animals. Terrible coffee. I really liked this zoo, went back in October was very nice, it’s not huge but the space is utilized very well, the exhibits are spacious and the animals seem to be pretty happy n well taken care of even for a zoo. Takes about 2-4 hours to check out the zoo, recommend a stop if ur nearby. You do have to pay to park here and the coffee is just gross, but if ya can get past that it’s an A+ establishment an above average zoo to be sure.
ellee hunter
Best zoo I've ever been to. I've visited the San Diego zoo, Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago, Rochester, Washington d.c. and animal kingdom in Disney world.... this topped them all! The park itself is gorgeously designed with winding paths, bamboo, indoor and beautiful outdoor habitats. Too many zoo's don't have their animals out, or they're so disturbed, they hide. Everything we wanted to see was out. They're all incredible and beautiful animals and so fun to watch.
Monday at 1:30 pm we arrived... perfect timing. Hardly anyone there. I would say, give yourself 2 and a half to 3 hours to get through, unless you're with small children... then you'll want longer.
In conclusion... I'm someone who has only been somewhat happy with san Diego zoo and their habitats... but portland zoo I whole heartedly can back. I will be returning.
Brandi
Today was a very beautiful and wonderful day to go to the zoo. It wasn't too crowded which allowed distancing. Happy vibes today 💐
Christie A
I was blown away by the variety of wild life there! I loved the whole experience. The park staff was really nice too!
Tori
Hands down the most gorgeous zoo I’ve ever been to! Highly recommend, it took us well over 2 hours to see everything and we were walking pretty quickly.
Ty Lynn Young
It was awesome. The elephant exhibit is huge. So much to see. Great weather. They have a train that goes around the zoo and more. Food is good. Go on line then you can pick the time you want. Mask optional.
dave webster
Excellent zoo! Great habitats for the animals, and lots to see. Excellent landscaping.
Jazzrel Adams (Whalephat)
The Oregon zoo is a BEAUTIFUL zoo! I went in April, lots of April showers 🌦️ also you can get amazing views of the animals, and amazing botany 💖 …
Sarah Ko
We love the Oregon zoo. Now that's more open it's even better. They finished the new polar bear exhibit. It's wonderful, can't wait to see the bears more. The new primate exhibit is also great.
I recommend going early. It's less busy and the elephants are always fun in the morning. We once got to watch them play in the water. It was amazing.
If you're local I recommend being a member. You save so much money and it gives you more reasons to go to the zoo.
YinG YinG Yieu
Nice place to go with your family/friends/lover. Recommend bring your hot cocoa or tea will be nice bc so cold and the foods lines really long.
Lindsay MacKay
Even with the rain, we had a great time! Animals were still fairly active, and COVID protocols were enforced
Dustin Dimicelli
I went to zoo lights and it was a good time. It is a nice long walking path and they have lots of lights. You can even see a few animals if your night vision is good.
Warren Holmes
Lots of pleasant upgrades since my last trip to the Oregon Zoo. Increased enclosures for the elephants. Easy navigation, lots of shade along the paths between exhibits.
Adam Danielski
Went to Christmas Lights at the zoo. Lots to look at and always great to support the animals. They have a great steam train as well. Fair prices and a great day to spend time.
Terry Mabry
Some great highlights. Some not so good. Tickets were pricey for a zoo (my opinion), but I was most impressed with the habitats. Especially, the Elephant. Enjoyed the visit.
ellen partal
This zoo is really big, lots of walking. But it is very clean, animals look healthy, happy and alert. The habitats are large and setup so multiple people can look at the same time. Lingering is encouraged. I like that you can bring in your own food and drinks and their sugary treats sent all over the park in your face. You can also have a picnic at washington Park. I love visiting her and you can find discount admissions info on n their website.
Adrianna André
A really great zoo! Zoo Lights was really fun as well. Membership is the way to go if you are local
Trinitie Fenn (Ann)
A lot of animals were taken out on the visit but easy to navigate and friendly experience. Animals appear healthy and active.
Jeremiah Montes
Good quality family fun! Lots of amazing exhibits. 5 stars would do it again!
Joe Weessies
This is a great zoo but expect to walk a lot with you and downs but it's so worth it. The balls eagle was right by where you walk. Everything was nice clean and safe. The food not to bad either. Even had their famous elephant ear. It's good but nothing amazing. The park is well laid out and so much to see and learn. A great day for the whole family.

Pros
I really love this zoo , it’s about 2 hours to walk around unless you have kids .
Beautiful landscaping and the animals look great .
Cons
My first time on the train took about 7 minutes to get going and the entire trip was 6 mins for 5 bucks .
This is literally for the kids , it should really be free .
This could have been amazing to go around the entire zoo . You can’t hear the speaker on the train it’s too loud , and slow . It just did a U-turn and it doesn’t stop or see any animals , maybe the elephants. Save your money for the food !
Food - bought two hotdogs , 1string fries and 2 drinks 20 bucks and the fries were cold and room temp hot dogs . I actually return the fries and asked for something fresh.
I usually I just walk around and go once a year to support the zoo .
Overall , it’s great for the kids ...
Megan Redfern
Very enjoyable zoo! Animals are very active and seem well taken care of! There are bathrooms placed frequently throughout the property that are very nice and clean. They contain a separate area for nursing a child as well.
Food and gift shop was all very reasonable priced. Two adults had lunch at the zoo for 35 dollars.
Parking was easy as we arrived right around opening. 2 dollars an hour or 8 dollars for the whole day(12 hours).
We really enjoyed ourselves and highly recommend this zoo.
Dalton
Beautiful zoo! The walking paths make you feel like you're in the exhibits and the animals have more space than usual. You get to see lots of animals and the right amount of walking.
Cindy Chid
Wow!!! It's been quite awhile since we've been. They have improved and updated and added a lot of new wonderful exibits. I love the new much larger elephant exibit.
Cheri Sheldon
We love everything about being members of the Oregon Zoo! We enjoying walking the beautiful grounds and visiting different animals on different days. Somedays we get a yummy treat (elephant ears) and have lunch (their pizza is yummy also) on the lawn, while watching the Birds of Prey Show (hopefully it will start up again soon). The carousel and train rides are fun and we always look forward to our beloved zoo lights in Dec. Happy members past 8+ years.
CessationYen
There's lots of animals and the staff is respectful and friendly. Certainly a fun zoo experience, sorta spendy tho. 😅
Rick Briggs
Wonderful trail like walk through beautiful exhibits Lots of them were shutdown during the winter, but still enjoyable. The new polar bear exhibit is fantastic. It allows you to see the animal on land as well as an underwater viewing area for the times they are escaping the heat. The lion and several other exhibits allow you to get close enough to almost touch the animals. One of my favorite zoos.
Amy L wise
Had a great time! Got there right when it opened so we were able to get an excellent parking spot and avoided alot of the crowd.
Audrey Zindler
Zoo Lights was a nice memorable evening. I recommend taking the train at the end to get another view of all the lights. Kettle corn and "adult" hot coco were tasty.
Pattabhi Rama Rao Yeleswarapu
Very good place to visit with family, book tickets in advance (because of covid), lot of parking place, nice layout, train ride is ok (very small ride), carousel, insect zoo and many more. Kids will just love this place seeing wonderful animals. There is good range of animals including polar bear and penguins. Big size Food court, popcorn, zoo store, well maintained restrooms etc., in summer you will find water mist(to best summer). Overall very good place to visit, tickets cost around $25 for adults & $19 for kids and parking full day around $8.
Jeremy Pietersma
It’s a highlight of the year for my girls, and the zoo light we’re even better this year. They really enjoyed wrapping it up with a train ride. Im so glad they extended the hours so we could make it this year!!!
Ariel Fifita
The only thing I would ever suggest is more outdoor warmers or warm areas to be in while being outside !!! The while experience is so much fun and it's a wonderful zoo!!! Mind you we had half off tickets!!!
Christina Cole
The zoo is a great way to get your kids out and have good quality family time.
Terence Lee
Great zoo for the family. You get to see many of the animals up close.
Tricia Jurgens
It was a nice zoo, but several animals were not in their exhibits.
Kristina Stinnette
Came here for zoo lights. I was surprised how well and smooth everything went. And quickly. Definitely worth the price
Carissa Cunningham
All around good time. We were luckier with some animals more than others. Got some great pictures.
Missy Stephenson
Loved taking the grandbabies, wished that we would have been told that the carousel closed at 5pm, I got tickets and was not able to use them because it closed before we got there. . .
Cristina Corban
Beautiful and well taken care of place for families with kids and anyone who enjoys nature and animals.
Animals are really well taken care of and the staff makes it an easy, well mapped out flow for visitors!
I was lucky to visit in a 70F cloudy day, but I’ve seen places dedicated to cooling off if you visit in the summer.
Also, there are plenty of restrooms, sanitation stations and places where you can get food.
Love it!
Sara Martin
I LOVE this zoo. It is beautiful and spread out and the animals are taken care of really well by passionate people. We have been members since my boys were babies and now they are 11 and 14. There are places to get food inside, including classic elephant ears, burgers, fries, and Mexican food. They do lots of work protecting wild animals, too. We love supporting them!
priyush j
If you are in Oregon, one must check this zoo for sure. A wonderful place to explore the wild life, and all other nature’s best creatures at one place.
Jess n My Girl
Zoo lights were beautiful and fun, with a well planned loop. The addition of food trucks was brilliant. For the zoo over all, I highly recommend going.
Robert Capron
Well laid out, lots of happy animals! Traffic is kind of a bear, but not too bad. It was definitely busy, but not quite crowded. It is in a natural forest, which I thought was fun. They have some of the plants from the animals natural habitat growing, including a stand of bamboo! We were worried that we weren't going to get to see everything, since the path is sort of like a maze through the zoo, but we only missed the penguins and seals. Which we found a shortcut back to see. A bit of a trek to get through everything, All in all, lots of fun.
Nathan Winning
Nice zoo that was easy to move through. We ended up spending 4 hours to leisurely go through and see all the exhibits. Unfortunately due to the cold/rain we didn't see a few of the animals since they hid away to avoid the rain. Really enjoyed the flow of the zoo and it was a good variety.
Sherif Samy
Zoo light was amazing me my wife and son, that was really fun.
Make sure get tickets online because there is no on site tickets only light train or carousel on site that is fine so I would recommend get it on site because just in case rain or something so you save at least this money.
Cammie Straub
I love Oregon Zoo! There is soo much to look at. The whole park is filled with different plants as well that are labeled, facts to check out at every exhibit and of course bunches of beautiful animals! We loved spending the afternoon walking around and enjoying it all! Finished up the day with a delicious elephant ear!
Chris Chavira (Pops)
My granddaughter had a field trip with her eocf class. The experience and the animal's were amazing thank you for amazing day...
Isa Layton
It's a nice zoo with a wide variety of animals. Too bad it was a very hot summer day and most animals were hiding from the heat or sleeping.
Scaciana DeLacy
Admission is reasonably priced, and the exhibits are better than other zoos I've been to. We enjoyed riding the train and going inside the atrium. This zoo is in a forested area, giving it such a wonderful vibe.
Chris Dooley
Nice, very good zoo. You can see the care they take in how healthy and relaxed the animals are
Derek Campion
Had high hopes for the zoo, but was rather let down. There were a good few "coming soon" enclosures. We went early in the morning as it was going to be a hot day and there were a lot of animals still not out and about. Animals were returned to enclosures because the keepers wanted to clean the enclosures.
The elephants were split, there was one walking around on it own and two others in a different part of the enclosure.
Lots of info about the animals on display, and lots of different kiosks for food and drinks. Lots of restrooms throughout the zoo. As it was a hot day there were lots of misting stations too cool off.
Lots of parking available, recommend buying tickets online.
Dave Spybrook
Visited from AZ. Loved the shaded walks and animal areas. The elephants were really active in the water. Great to see. Everyone wore a mask on the inside areas per guidelines which was very nice.
Theanine3D (Theanine3D)
So many of the animals were sadly not there during our visit. The polar bear also looked like she was suffering from madness, probably from being locked up - she kept pacing back and forth in the same spot, over and over and over. I felt so sorry for her. Overall a nice zoo, loved the seals, but I worry about that bear!
dK
I love the zoo kinda pricey at 24bucks but I'll probably get an annual membership.
Morgan Boatwright
The zoo was very well maintained and beautifully laid out. There were plenty of restrooms that were clean, and had breastfeeding areas with extra changing tables. There was some empty habitats and closed exhibits due to medical needs for the animals, but I found this encouraging because they are putting the needs of the animals above entertainment value. There are tons of benches and tables and grassy areas to stop and eat if you want, and there's also food and drinks for sale. You're going to pay more because you're in a zoo, but I expected that going in. There's a lot of cool information and educational features at each exhibit, and while it seems a little geared towards children, I had a great time as an adult. When I went there was no shows going on because it was later in the day, but I do plan on going back. Overall the experience exceeded my expectations going in, and I had a wonderful day.
Starret Carless
Quite large and they have elephants! Got to talking with a volunteer and they have several breeding programs to revive some of the endangered species. I loved how much thought they put into caring for the animals. Many teaching moments and a big show in the auditorium park.
The ONLY thing I don’t like is that it’s not made clear that this is a zoo that is meant to be walked one way with the first part not being an reversible due to crowds and incline. I love to walk zoo’s backwards to avoid crowds so I didn’t see the last 10/15 minutes because it wasn’t marked anywhere (at the main entrance) that you can’t exit though that first beginning part. They do provide a shortcut to the exit before this incline if you’d still like to walk the zoo backwards. You will just miss a bit.
Altogether a great experience and a good 2-3 hours to wander through and enjoy seeing all the wildlife.
Kailynn Zook
First time to the Oregon zoo. It was very nice trip. Overall the zoo had a nice flow and the exhibits seem to really mesh well together. You can tell which are the older parts, because that is where we got slightly got turned around. But over, very much recommend.
Sharon N
Such a fun place to get out and enjoy time with family!
We went right when they opened on a weekday, and the crowds were small and parking was plentiful.
Lots of active animals - our favorites were the giraffes, elephants, and beavers. The zoo staff was wonderful about sharing information and answering any questions.
Don't forget to grab a snack (elephant ears are always a favorite) and ride the zoo train!
Amanda Spakes
It's beautifully remodeled. Easy to get to off the freeway . I love EVERYTHING about it. My family gets a zoo pass every year.
Audeat Vivere
What a great experience! This zoo is amazing and honestly pretty clean for being a zoo! Had a blast and will go again. I wish the train was not extra to ride etc. Lots of animals and lots of things to do.
Staff: 5/5 (personal attention to each customer)
Products:5/5 (good selection of animals)
Health: 5/5 (it's good to walk outside)
Facility: 5/5 (clean and well organized)
Location:54/5 (easy to get to with parking in the front and sides )
Etchplain
This Zoo has always been a favorite of mine, for Zoo lights and just in general. It has great exhibits, I know the animals are cared for as well as possible, and they're constantly adding new attractions and exhibits it feels like. I'd give this zoo 10 stars if I could.
Sara
I was very impressed with this zoo. Seems like around every corner there was a new experience waiting to be found. So many animals to be seen or even heard. There is a train ride as well. Elephant ears looked amazing.
Antonio Martinez
I enjoy the variety of animals and the knowledge behind each species. It’s like stepping into a whole different world when you visit the zoo. Animals from all over the world
Haley Whitaker
The grounds were well maintained and clean, we went early in the morning on a Sunday and it was busy but not to busy to enjoy everything. One thing about being early was that a lot of the animals were still sleeping and not active or some not visible at all but that's not their fault. The gift shop was well stocked and generally affordable!
Dani Councilman
I haven't been to the Oregon Zoo lights in many years. This year, I decided to do the Brew Lights and try out the experience. I will admit, it was a bit more crowded than I would like. The beer and cider were delicious and had many options that everyone in my group enjoyed. Despite the fact of it being cold out, and the parking was a little bit of a nightmare, it was a wonderful experience and had a great time!
sean kp
Wonderful zoo with great exhibits, spent a little over 3 hours here and it was well worth the price.
Joey Derrickson
Awesome experience, and great weather today lol, unfortunately a lot of the birds weren't there, but hopefully next time
Joe Kronner
Beautiful, natural setting. Animal were very close. Great staff that were very knowledgeable and fun to talk with.
Denton67 Veach
Kids enjoyed the zoo, however, several living attractions were gone or now shows, parking was terrible as spaces are very tight! Prices for food/beverages are stupid high and all tickets need to be purchased on line.
mercedes guerrero
What a wonderful experience with my grandson. All of the animals were out and active except the tigers and polar bears. Was blessed to see the new baby orangutan. 👶
Anna Cady
Lots to do and see even on a hot day. Plenty of shade for the kiddos, but it was definitely warm so obviously needed ice cream. Areas to run around and play. First time here but seemed fresh and like there were multiple new exhibits. Petting zoo was closed but kids didn't seem to mind. Had a blast.
Sophia Wodja
All the animals are great to see and visit. Kids had a blast but the petting farm was not open to interact with the animals and the birds were away due to health concerns. Staff was knowledgeable for questions we had and did a great job at providing information during talks and feedings. It was a bit difficult to get to the exit as we did find some of the signs confusing towards the end of Africa and discovery zones. Recommend the carousel for the kids, and the train ride both are $5/6 per person and run frequently. Overall arrive early for parking and purchase tickets online - we really enjoyed ourselves.
Lisa Boban
Such a lovely way to spend an afternoon! The zoo is a quick train ride from downtown Portland. Admission is a little pricey, so look for discount tickets online. The animals are in very large outdoor spaces, so there is a lot of walking down wide pathways to see them. Make sure you see the "bat cave" and the otters!!!
charlet banks
It was me my husband are four kids my aunt and my grandma that went and we all had a blast we all thought it was the best zoo we been too there's lots to see and do the animals seemed happy as could be and the way they have it set up is awesome
Garden Of Jewels
Last time we visited was in 2018, so much has changed since then!
We went on a Friday morning(10:30)
Adult admission is now $24 instead of it's 2018 pr9ce of $17.. food quality has not changed if not gone down, and pricing has skyrocketed.
The crowds were minimal and moving quickly.
Animals were out and about, strongly suggest looking through the feeding times & shows if you want a full experience.
Tour the zoo counter-clockwise, you will avoid many crowd stops and kids running through your legs.
They have misters for your convenience, nice for cooling off.
Bring your own food and water...bottles of water is THREE DOLLARS EACH. No refill, drinking fountains have no pressure, so its a germ hazard.
Overall, great experience for the kiddos. Wish things would go up in quality as they are going up in price..but a fun outing none the less.
Chris Gay
We had a great time. The zoo is well laid out, it's easy to navigate and see all the exhibits.
Ashley Arnold
Super nice zoo beautiful and is very handicap friendly if it is sunny i suggest bringing sun screen
Trevor Bolin
Went here for Zoo Lights with my partner. We had a wonderful time. Pretty lights and overall a great experience.
It was popular when we did the walking portion but there was still a fair amount of room to consistently avoid close contact with others except for a few popular waiting spots within the zoo.
Cesar Torres
A great experience to go on a walk after brunch with the family! At the moment no view of bird due the bird 😷.
Jeanette Fox
Loved it! This is one of the most beautiful zoo's I have even experienced. The trails go through the park and you can see the animals really well!
Morgan Phillips
You're the best things I've ever been to personally. Comparing it to the San Francisco and Oakland zoo it just barely edges them out I really like the long path that the elephants have. They have a nice variety of animals. It's well shaded so even on hot days it's not unbearable and of course it's fine on cool days. One thing to notice that there's a petting zoo which can be fun for younger children. Depends themselves are really well organized if you read the signs you'll never miss any of it. The staff is friendly and resourceful so if you have any questions just ask. Portable animals include bears goats tigers cheetahs elephants elk giraffes red pandas lemurs monkeys lions both River and sea otters. Definitely go if you have the time but if you miss it for other stuff in Portland I'd understand.
Donnielle O'Neill
The Oregon zoo is a very well good place. Helps alot of animals of many species with great spacious habitats. Great place to take the kids
Alex Alexiev
Good sized zoo, big enough that there's stuff to see but not too big that it's overwhelming. We went on a Wednesday and it was pretty empty compared to other city zoos I've gone to, so a very chill vibe. The animals look well cared for and they had a lot of interesting outreach style displays. I especially felt like they had kids in mind with some of the viewing windows, which were placed low and in interesting areas, often in corners or to mimic a burrow area. I was ok with the food options but would have preferred more variety (but pretty average of a zoo to be honest).

I love this place. Zoo nights are amazing. Animal talks throughout the evening, and music in the concert area by the elephants. Melao de Cuba was the band playing this evening and the music was amazing! People were dancing and enjoying the atmosphere.
Keep up the good work Oregon Zoo. I love seeing the community together. Only thing that's missing are the Bonobos :-)
Princess Lily Stockwell (TsukiakariUsagi)
Zoo Lights was a lot of fun, but I’m also the type of person that likes to drive around and see what different people do for house decorations. I always wanted to go to this event but just never made time; this year, we changed that. A lot of the animals aren’t out and the typical Zoo paths are slightly modified, so you don’t see most of the exhibits. There are a tonne lot of lights in various animal shapes around the Zoo and a special lighting event in the central grass area, along with several of their food vendors that are out and about. We did see the seals, otters, and elephants while we were there though. Total time spent was around 2 hours and we didn’t rush through at all.
Scott Ferris
Big zoo, nice exhibits. Requires a reservation as of September 2022, still under some pandemic rules.
andrea B
Very well kept ! No animal looked like they are in distress ! Staff is amazing a lot to see and do !
David Boe
A great place to take the kids, the Oregon Zoo enjoys an excellent reputation for many of its natural habitats, especially the large space reserved for the elephants. In summer the Zoo hosts an outstanding concert series, featuring top named music acts. In fall and winter the Zoo pulls out the stops with its Halloween Spook Train, and the spectacular winter light show that runs in December.
Cory Hilker - Bartolini
I love the Zoo, the only downside is a LOT of the large cats were either out for medical attention or just not there at all. It was 100+ degrees out and the polar bear had no ice... I love the zoo but also see there is a lot that needs changed. I wish there was an input spot for us to give them feedback that they'd actually follow. All in all I had a good time with my family.
Teresa
Had a very fun day seeing all of the animals. Rented a cart to not have to walk on a bad foot. The cart lasted all day going up and down the hills. Never moved off of full.
Sandra Martin
Beautiful scenery and landscape along with the animals located at this zoo. I had a lovely time meandering around.
L Berglund
Even with the reservations the zoo was very crowded on a Friday afternoon. We were very disappointed in the new polar bear exhibit. Why would they plant a bunch of trees in front of a viewing area. I appreciate the fact animals have more space to wander and explore but if you are going to charge 20+ dollars per ticket it would be nice to see some animals. The lions were hidden behind a rock. The giraffe zoo talk was so crowded you couldn't hear or see and there were so many people in the Pacific NW enclosure we wore masks and hurried through without seeing anything.
morgan lemons
The zoo is amazing! The people are really nice, the animals were not out a lot because of the heat, so I don't blame them, and the food was edible. We had a lot of fun on the carousel, the train. And just walking around and enjoying the sites and sounds.
Amber Robeson
This visit was for Zoo lights. Was a long wet walk but the lights and displays were really incredible. The kids had fun. Lots of people but not to crowded. Will definitely buy train and/or carousel tickets next time. Wish at least the carousel was included but it is what it is.
Amanda Isberg
I love the Oregon Zoo! I have been visiting here since I was a kid and it never disappoints. I went again June 2021 during Covid and there were plenty of sanitizer stations, pay with credit card options, and timed entry. Parking was still a pain so you might want to carpool like I did or use Max. It is a lot of walking so you might want to bring a stroller or rent one if you have little ones, the last hill wiped out my kiddo! You can check the animal talk and feed times if you want to add a little more education to your visit too. We happened to stumble on the penguin talk and my 3 year old kid kinda tuned it out but liked watching the penguins go after the fish.
Jeri Wolf
Easy ticket purchase, friendly and quick entry into the light display and BAM- What a sight. Beautiful, fun, and a winderful evening driving through.
Livin' Life For Real
Went on May 1st & had a blast. Weather was excellent, busy but not insane. Most animals were sleeping but that was ok. Spent 4 hours there, excited to go again.
Serina Wong
The zoo was pretty good. There's lots of exhibits with lots of animals. However while I was here which is also at the same time when Corona is still happening some exhibits were closed off. Otherwise it would have been fully accessible. Also another thing to note since Corona is still around they have you buy your tickets online. There's also some nice snack stands too. Adults, if you want there's a stand that has margaritas and another stand that has beer. But for kids there's shaved ice or Dippin dots.
Amruta M
We had a fun time at the zoo which was well maintained. Tickets are to be bought online and most ppl were wearing masks. It has lot of variety of animals however some exhibit shows were closed due to pandemic. There are good food stands to eat from and also nice space to have your own picnic on the grass. Parking was easy n convenient ($8 for unlimited time)
Marc Marcela Yew
It has been about almost a year or two since we last visited the Zoo. It has been such an amazing experience, you can tell the keepers love their animals and take good care of them. They have a few baby animals and newer additions to the zoo. Definitely recommend coming and supporting this beautiful place.
Dara Ross
I will not attempt to drive my own vehicle to visit this zoo on any weekend day due to there being (litterally) not a single parking space available. We found it enjoyable to visit on weekday evenings. The events have all finished and the crowds have thinned. They have water mist stations which are brilliant and make the heat bearable. We have yet to see the big cats and most of the monkeys. Some animals seem to attempt to distance themselves from the visitors as much as possible which is sad. Mostly the larger animals (monkeys, big cats, rhinos) Others seem content in their environments.
Rick Scrivens
Parking was easy; paying for it notso...
Entry almost $100 for 3 adults and 1child
With exposure to hundreds of people that don't know the meaning of distancing or using face-masks; the fact that they limit the amount of visitors probably keeps them from being a super-spreader site...if you're not vaccinated...stay away. Few animals were visible and thanks to an award winning layout, animals were able to hide better. The best part for my granddaughter was the $30 stuffed animal. I was a member for 30 years, sad to say nevermore.
Kaylyn C
I haven't been in a few years but it was nice to be back! A lot of construction is finished but some spots are still blocked off. I had an amazing time regardless. The animals were thriving and there wasn't too many people at all. You just have to mind your space. Elephant ears were delicious as always!
Daisy Erazo
Long walk around the zoo, many animals are not there and some are not well taken care of. There is a free shuttle running every 15 minutes. The zoo store has very limited items and very expensive from my point of view. I did see around three species of animals I had never seen before. A good thing from them is that they have many water fountains by every bathroom area.
Melody Haselden
Excellent place to take the family. Be prepared to walk. It is built on a hill and there are several spots of up and downs. The best exhibit in my opinion is where the elephants are. Its beautiful and at different times of the year they have other things happening. Like Christmas lights . We go with the grandkids. Well the younger ones!
Eric Nichols
We're here for ZooLights. Was really pretty. Lots of food options. And they had warming stations that were nice to have.
Helen Smith
Although the Oregon Zoo doesn't contain the largest variety of animals I've seen, I really appreciated the layout and the spacious habitats of the different animals. All of the animals appeared to be relaxed and happy. The tiger and red panda were highlights of the visit! We especially enjoyed riding the mobility scooters through the zoo, which meant we weren't exhausted after our 2.5 hour visit.
Demigorn (Demigorn)
My family and I spent 5 hours at the zoo today. The kids loved the animals and the exhibits. It wasn't too hot or humid. Lots of active animals. Everyone was having a good time except for those who wanted to pay cash. The food and beer was my only complaint. The pizza place advertised 16oz cans for 8.00 then gave us 12oz cans instead. The food at the Afican Cafe cost us as much as dinner the night before at a sea side restaurant. We got so little for $60 it was obscene. 😒
Myke
Seriously awesome! Even with some of the restrictions I had more fun this done then ever before covid, they really nailed it, and for the most part people give more space and move out of the way a little faster if you're patient (learn how, it's useful). The staff was great, the animals where active or at least sleeping by the windows. Great place! Go support them and the animals!
A Y
Kids had a blast! They were slightly short staff since some of the food stalls were closed but all the staff were super friendly and helpful.
Great walking path for strollers. Plenty of shade during hot sunny zoo day.
Yuan
Most of the animals were sleeping for mine on a Saturday Probably having a lazy sat there.
The snacks bar are mostly close except the one near the elephants.
Sadly I couldn't view the red pandas 🥲
Over all I would say probably head over earlier to catch the animals active.
Daryl Briggs
Nice Zoo! However we visited during an extreme heat wave, so most of the animals were hidden trying stay cool. Most could not be seen. However, the elephants were just being put away when we got to them.
Luna Quest
Such a beautiful zoo! Built in 1888. So lush and green 💚 Lots of great animals! Perfect for little kids and families. You're special entry time because of Covid is not super strict. If you come within the hour you'll be fine. Parking is through the parking kitty. Super wonderful experience. …
Yer Chang
Best time to go is in the morning when it first opens up! Why? Parking, and, less traffic! It was like my kiddos had the WHOLE ZOO to themselves! The weather was perfect too. Not too cold or hot!
Melissa Rosenberry
Had a blast with my students here. Saw the elephants playing in the water. Polar bears finally came out to swim and many other animals. We were limited on time. Had to leave by 1:30 and entered at 11:30. In the short amount of time we had we got to see a lot of cool things.
Only bummer was they take cards only no cash anywhere, even at the little food carts. Many of my students brought money for lunch and treats. I was stuck trying to figure out how to feed them.
Tom Deuce
A very solid basic Zoo. Lots of upgrading happening currently. Pretty consistent experience each time. Parking lot can be dicey because people don't pay attention. Zoo lights is a great experience at the holidays. They did a great job being organized during the drive through event during the pandemic. They have the pandemic on lock with their preparation. Felt safe with all the protocols they have in place. Require masks the entire time in zoo. With having reservations it really allows you to enjoy the zoo without as many people being around.
Chelsie Simpson
We went last Thursday for my daughters birthday. None of the animals were out, and there wasn’t really any food venues open. We got to see a goat, turtles, and penguins. We didn’t get to see any of the big animals we told her about. Super disappointing but we made the best of it. I understand school just started and it’s slower, but you should be giving a major discount for the people who are still going. I wouldn’t go back again but I can see how it would be such a beautiful place when it is busier and more attractions are open.
Candice Dhuri
We always love the zoo. We get to see so many different animals and their habitat.
This one was a real big zoo with a variety of animals. It took about 3 hours to complete everything without rushing.
Bruce Benar
You can feed birds or giraffes. The elephant exhibit is huge and very entertaining. Don't miss the otters! There are more snakes in the zoo than I've ever seen, and most of them are wriggling.
A great day! Well run zoo!
Ryan
Family had a wonderful time. Had a great diversity of animals and different exhibits available. Was very pleased with our time spent there. Great day! ( Plus they sell alcohol so that's a win..) lol
Mike Schmidt
Nicely laid out zoo with a main path sending you around the various exhibits. Nice to not worry about missing something! Our favorites were the bears, giraffes, and elephants but many smaller animals were fun to see too! There is also a train ride that goes around the park and the food is about what you expect. Good experience, did not feel overwhelmed or rushed to see the whole thing.
Patty Bustamante
Best family time. We have returned after COVID19 with our pre teen grand daughters. They still love the Zoo, thank goodness. 🤗
We had a great time and even bought a membership 🤗 …
Madilynn K
So much fun! Myself and husband spent about 3 hours on the nose here. We walked at a leisurely pace and spent a good 10-15 minutes at most exhibits and had a great time! It really stood up to San Diego zoo in both of our minds (we grew up there) even with a few sections still closed for Covid such as the insect house.
Our favorites : red pandas , seals, cheetahs / African dogs, elephants , the aviary!
RAHUL H
Truly amazing feeling to watch polar beer, sea otters and many more animals. Be prepared for a long walk as you meander through the zoo to see different animals.
Need to pay for parking outside the zoo @ $2/ hour
Sheryl Williams
Perfect place for a family tradition to be created. I've gone a dozen times in the past 16 years. A few misses for snow and pandemic... Even the most ambivalent of teens still enjoys twinkly lights. Elephant ears for dinner doesn't hurt the cause either.
Google Rebel
New to this area. Impressive Zoo in comparison. The architectural design is awesome for a walking attraction. You will actually walk downhill from the entrance. The animals look happy and well fed. Online, kiosk, Handicap accessibility. Easy transactional exchange. The food selections were minimal or closed. We left early to find food.
Smiling Ls
Great zoo with great animals. The wheel chair rental option is amazing, we were able to take my mom who has a hard time walking far there! She got an electric wheel chair and we were zipping around the zoo. Great gift shop and food vendors.
Patrick Hudson
One of the better zoos out there. Perfect for adults, kids, solos, or couples. My favorite part was the Cascadian wooded area which felt like a magical hiking trail, but there were animals all around you. I'd still recommend going in off-season or a rainy day if you can.
Faith Hoffman-Garcia
Arrived at 9:30am, was able to see all the animals available (avian bird flu had some attractions closed.) We made it through the park in a little over three hours. At times it felt like we had the park to ourselves. About a half hour before we left it started to get crowded, so the timing was great. All the employees we ran into and talked to were extremely nice and helpful, we had a great time. My father is a season pass holder, so my nephew and I got in for free. I'll be going back with or without the season ticket holders.
Brian Critchfield
First time going to the zoo we had a great time the only thing what would of been nice to know before going today is that there was going to be a few schools doing a field trip today myself and my husband are both handicapped where we have a hard time walking we both just about got pushed over by the kids running past us with no adult with them
Tara Elsa
Such a fun zoo that's organized! And food/desserts
Michael Diaz
Great zoo with lots of wonderful exhibits. I really appreciate how many of them are incorporated into the naturally occurring ecosystem of the PNW biome.
Ray Blount
Habitats are well laid out and clean. Animals seem to be well cared for.
Natalie Dodd
Lovely zoo. The layout was nice and they supplies misters during the heat, which made a huge difference. The exhibits were fun and interactive.
Andrea Hughes
The Zoo lights winter holiday event was awesome as usual! The drive thru option is a great option if you have elderly or disabled loved ones who might struggle with the hills. Definitely buy your tickets in advance though and come prepared with a good holiday themed play list.
Micah Morton
Absolutely a wonderful place to spend a day of any type of weather. Animals seem happy and the exhibits don't sacrifice animal happiness for viewing placement. Food/drink is pretty expensive, but other than that, the zoo is a bargain.
Blake Waite
I hadn't been here for years. I had a great time, even though there were many things still closed for covid-19. It was really nice seeing how well the animals were treated and that they had roomy areas to roam. I definitely recommend getting an Elephant Ear even if there is a long line; they are pure cinnamon-y goodness.
Morgan Jeffrey
The architecture of this zoo is phenomenal! Beautifully designed with plants along the walkways & lots of animals in nicely sized enclosures! The prices are a little expensive but worth it! Has a train that goes around the zoo and a restaurant, elephant ear and margarita stand. I usually don't like going to Zoos or Sea world from lack of space that the animals have; but being here made me happy to see the care and spacious areas that the animals are given and how they have rescued a few injured aninals. You can rent strollers or carts to ride in! Christmas time is awesome to check it out!!!!
N N
This zoo is small but very well organized. The trail is well thought and gives great view of the animals. Staff is very welcoming and helpful.
Micheal Calvin
Why are there only like 15 parking spots for the zoo, museum, and huge park???? (Edit: there are like 11 major tourist attractions all located here. They are trying to promote public transportation. Don't drive here)
Overflow parking is a bad joke. 11am Saturday maxed capacity.
You can spend a whole or half day here. Check online to see which parts of the park you want to see, there's an archery range, rose garden etc.
This is a very nice zoo I would recommend it to anyone and especially the San Francisco zoo needs to come take notes.
Jennifer Peterson
First time going and I love the 1 way traffic, I do hope they keep that after this whole pandemic blows over. It really did help with keeping the flow!!
The animals were amazing and you could tell they were loved and well cared for!!
Ann Osborne
The lights were beautiful. We even got to see the Elephants!
Randy Mckee
I haven't been too the zoo in a long time. I am amazed at what a wonderful job they have done with the bond money. They have truly expanded the habitat for the animals. I enjoyed myself much more with the new system of less people.
Ashley Meuser
Love our annual zoo lights trip! They put on such a show for all ages.
Food and drink are overpriced and parking can be a challenge but overall we enjoy our time seeing the zoo at night with all the fun displays.
Shanna Scadding
We had so much fun with our granddaughter! I do recommend going later around noon or one, we went at 10am and a lot of the animals were being fed and not real visible
Denise M
It was a nice little walk through. Good customer service. Came at 1600 and had to leave before 1800 we still didn't get a chance to explore the whole zoo. We will be back. (-:
Tim Barlow
Lots of fun exhibits to check out and fun for the whole family! My favorite was the Sea otters!
Linsey Nuquist
We went to the zoo for the first time since the world shut down and it was a very nostalgic feeling. A lot is unchanged including the well known zoo key (which we found out from the gift shop that its remained the same for over 100 years!), but there a few new additions. We went on a Sunday and there was a bench or a table available for us to snag for my parents to rest anytime we needed that. My daughter had never been before and she had an absolute blast.
Keno Granger
This entire zoo is so cool. The grounds and buildings are well kept and clean. The elephant exhibit inspires awe. If you want an even better experience, try coming a bit later in the afternoon closer to closing time. It was quiet and serene, which is a cool vibe for a zoo.
Andrew Lyons
After being closed for 4 months, the Oregon Zoo has reopened, with some modifications.
For starters, you need to make reservations, which you can do on their website. This staggers the number of visitors so everyone can be socially distant.
The Zoo has cleverly laid out a one-way trail that will allow you to see 90% of the zoo. Some indoor exhibits are closed.
Overall, the zoo is as beautiful as ever. And new attractions are coming in 2021.
Update 2022: You still need to reserve tickets online before you head out. Try to go before 3:00pm. I went at 4:00 and most of the animals were asleep. And also, a lot of the food and beverage options were closed. Bring dollar bills for the vending machines just in case.
Jan Cameron
I'm very impressed with how much the zoo has done for the animals here. More space to roam, a good mixture of water to land and toys ratio for the animals to entertain themselves. Since they're in covid mode, not too many eateries open, so remember your snacks and beverages. Some exhibits are closed but that's ok.. still lots to see!
Samantha B
Love it here. The animals are well taken care of and lots of animals to see. The orangutans, lions, polar bears, river and sea otters are some of the best exhibits and sometimes have keeper talks. The keeper talks they do have are great, just wish they did some on all the animal occasionally. Staff are all very friendly except some of the security guards. Lots of outdoor eating areas. Food options are decent. Lots of animals to see since they are big zoo. I would recommend coming here!
Cons: I wish the newer and updated enclosures were made in a way to where the sun glare didnt make it impossible to see the animals without getting super close to the window (chimps, orangutan enclosures are really hard to see into with sunglare)
-some animal's are rarely seen outside in viewing areas (tiger, rhinos)
-limited hours in winter for such a large zoo
-parking is $8 all day
Julie Hucke
It was so much fun. Hadn't been there for about 5 years. Was a little disappointed the Tiger wasn't there. Watching the elephants feed & dive in the water was so fun. Our grandsons loved it to. Animals were a little lazy because it was so warm.
Margaret Webster
Best zoo I have visited. Lots of conservation work and lots of space for the animals. Their Condor breeding and releasing programme has been very successful. More than happy to revisit and pay my entrance fee to support the good work they are doing
Po Mi
Such a amazing place! Lots of education Highly recommend the Zoo!
Matthew Wickman
Today we went to the zoo. We had two little girls with us and they loved it.
The Oregon Zoo is really nice. The animals hardly seem depressed at all, and like I said: the kids love it.
Also: there are margaritas at the zoo now.
Jenny T
We loved the zoo when we went last weekend but I'd skip the train unless you're for using it as a donation because all it did was a short circle. Train ride was not worth it!
But, I am concerned about the animals. Why are lions having seizures and the tigers are being watched under medical care?
Arun K. Raj
An overall good experience. It takes 3-4 hours to cover the entire zoo. Best time to visit is Morning!!!
Qweens Town
Aside from wishing there were more rest spots and entry was more organized, it’s a lovely zoo. Nice mostly one way flow of traffic. A in zoo or connected eatery for that coffee and deli sandwiches would also be nice.
Jeremy Black
Great day , lots of walks and awesome animals to see❤️❤️❤️
Kenneth Schopp
OPEN - we went June 2021. Only things not open was a few exhibits including the insect zoo. No feeding giraffes or goats again so far. Most food stands are also open as well.
Plenty of safety protocols and signs and staff there to help you navigate safely.
Alison Mitchell
This zoo was an awesome experience. Very natural settings for the animals, large range of animals and some awesome sights. Large zoo, took some time to see everything but it's worth it, not pricey at all. You can receive a discount for being a student and showing id.
Robin Stevenson
Great environment, very "wild" zoo in comparison to others I've been to. Giraffes were impressive Was disappointed with the $3.50 "key" extra which was supposed to unlock additional educational info for the kids. At least two of the boxes did not work and there weren't a whole lot either. Concerned for one of the polar bears who looks like she has zoocosis.
Bilyan Belchev
Really important to buy your tickets in advance, but if you do, it is a nice and will organized experience. Same exhibits are still closed and habitats under construction. But many of the major ones are welcoming visitors. Looking forward to seeing Nora the polar bear next time.
Tim Miller
This zoo is surrounded and immersed in beauty. My favorite exhibit was the bats due to them being so active (feeding time). The family enjoyed it! I would do this again.
Dwaine Miller
The zoo was very clean people there were very respectful and the family and I Loved exploring and seeing all the Beautiful Animals it was all Awesome and worth the Money
H H
Great place to visit. Lots to see. Parking is a nightmare every time we visit.
Lexxi Kerr
Beautiful zoo located in beautiful Washington Park. Their labeling and information on the animals isn't the best. But I do know now to avoid eye contact with bears if I encounter one out in the woods....or is it make direct eye contact?
Sadie Collier
I went to the Oregon zoo lights Christmas eve, it was all very pretty! You could still see the otters and elephants even though it was dark. The lights were so beautiful and the walk through was great even for kids. Well worth the money.
Zephyr ZK
Beautiful zoo, tons of educational signs and keepers speaking about the animals. Only one star removed because some of the exhibits were hard to navigate with one of their mobile scooters. The penguin house was the hardest to navigate: you have to backtrack to get out, as one side is stairs.
Mindi Hartzell Jones
The Zoo Lights, while very expensive for a family, are a must do. It's beautiful!
mason lowry
This place is way cleaner and nicer than it was the last time I visited in 2015. No map is needed. Every intersection had a person giving directions. All in all it was a wonderful visit for myself, my parents, my brother and my daughter
Patty Radcliff
We haven't been to the zoo in years. They have done a remarkable job with all the updates and changes.
W S
Wasnt much to see. All birds were gone and the other animals were all sleeping away from view. No direction arrows or anything on the ground so there was traffic jams everywhere. Also of the people there there probably was 30% adults and the rest was kids between 1 and 4 running loose from parents. Also a ton of screaming from the kids though not much the zoo can do about that. We went around 1130 to 2
Venus
My major complaint is you can only buy your tickets online and there is no paper map. It's all digital. Tickets aren't a bad price, $25 for adults. There's definitely a lot to see, no shortage on waking either. There's also a lot of acesability for those in wheelchairs or those who have strollers with them.
LJ Frederickson
2 grandsons, 1-3, were spellbound. $65 per car. Drive 3 mph. Must make reservations. You can also buy stuff, cotton candy, toys. Expensive. Absolutely packed with cars and people walking. Organized well. I'd go again!
Jenay McCord
We went to zoo lights on the last weekend it was available and while the line was pretty long I enjoyed the experience. My daughters (4 & 2) had a little bit of a hard time with the wait to get in but once in they loved the lights and were glad to be there. It is a little tough to not see actual animals and for the kids to stay in the car because they do want to walk around and not be stuck inside, but overall I think they did a great job creating a family experience that they will be remembered and the price wasn’t bad considering it would cost more if it had been a regular zoo lights trip. We were even late for our time slot and they let us in no problems. Thank you for some holiday cheer during a very difficult year, we loved it!

We had a great trip to the zoo today. Staff takes keeping masks on properly seriously. They will ask those with their nose hanging out to cover it up. Everything is one way right now. They are several areas completely closed. I would encourage you to check the zoo website before you go to avoid any disappoinment. With that being said there is still allot open. We got to watch Nora and the elephants play in the water so that alone made the trip worth it!
Pro tip: right now the bathroom just before you enter the zoo is open and there isn't another one open until after you have walked about 30 minutes. So if you have a small bladder or kiddos it's worth going before you enter the zoo.
Mr. Faris El Mohamed
We were expecting a lot more animals!
Other than that, it was nice.
Shawn Brooks
Awesome place at 54 and was like a little kid. Love the animals and the way they are housed. Very natural ♥️ will be back, love gift shop I spent $100 that money goes to help out animals. I'll do it again next time you should go visit them now. Awesome experience for all ages. Lol recommend 1,000% 👍👍 staff was great too thank you all ♥️♥️♥️

Nice Zoo nestled in nature, the new Elephant space is also super cool.

Had a great time at the Oregon Zoo! Reserved a 11am time slot and there an appropriate number of people walking around that kept everyone spaced out well. Staff was located in various spots and reminded people not to gather to tight spaces and to keep our masks on. This was all done with professionally and with kindness (not aggressively like some places). Everyone was adhering to all the rules.
I loved seeing all the animals. The sea otters were adorable and it was great to see the lemurs swinging around. Seals were so cute, and the lions looked like down right royalty.
You could tell some of the smaller animals were being housed in different areas than they normally were because some of the enclosures did not have signs indicating what the animal was. There were times I wished I knew what animal I was looking at, as some were very new to me. There was no staff in these areas to ask either.
Lots of clean bathrooms throughout the zoo made it easy on my small bladder! Lol
I visited the gift shop before leaving and was surprised how fairly priced the items were. Plenty of $20 tshirts and small stuffed animals to buy.
This is a great place to bring the family or even a midday date :)
Latasha Rodriguez
Great time for the whole family. The sea otters were so fun to watch. The elephant exhibit was so neat, they could walk below you. The kids had a great time, if we come back to town I would definitely come again!
Kelsey Short
We had such a blast at the zoo lights this year! The drinks were amazing and the lights were to die for! My children had a blast! My kids and I can’t wait for next year!!! We love this family tradition!
Nate Parker
Went for the zoo lights and had a great experience. Had some issues with the tickets because I put in my email wrong. I was able to show up at the tickets booth and fix it very easily. Parking was really bad at the zoo and they buss you in so make sure to show up at least 15-30 earlier than you think.
Mrs “Lacey” Martini
I do love supporting this business. Having a Zoo nearby is a wonderful. I have visited many a times over the past several years. My last visit was 4 days ago, during the pandemic. All carts and drinks were closed. Construction was heavily underway. We were guided by several employees to go this way or that, wear a mask, one way only, no re entry. They are following the COVID regulations. So, the walk through was lacking crowds, but we still kind of hurried along, so as not to make other parties wait. There are many things to do here, under normal circumstances. I enjoy all the gatherings and attractions they have. Right now, you come to see animals only, cutting your normal trip time in half. I miss the ability to meander, drink, eat and play. Dang you, COVID!

We bought a membership this year - and boy is it worth it. My daughter Loves the animals, and wants to love on them. The zoo is clean, the staff is friendly, and with the nice weather around the corner - we will be coming back very very often
Jessica Pritchard
It was amazing! All the animals were beautiful and they had just let the polar bear out for the first time. We loved ever second of our trip to the zoo.
Cindi Crane
It was fun.... However a bit sad for the animals that were in some of the cages.
The park itself was very pretty with a lot of nice flowers, greenery and lavender.
A bit expensive for 4 people. Almost $100,but a nice fun filled day.🦒🐻❄️🦏
Tyler Lane
I had a great time at the Oregon Zoo my only complaint would be that they had quite a few empty exhibits.
Emanuel Pires
Loved it!
However parking can be a bit challenging!
Cindy Kessler
The zoo was great. All the kiss had an awesome time. BEWARE of the beer stand, particularly the 12$ margaritas with no tequila in them. When asked about it they just shrugged their shoulders and turned around. We weren't the only ones complaining, there were several others. Greed is a sad thing. Lesson learned.
Alexandra McNaughton
Such a lovely zoo. Decent sized enclosures over all. Close up views which made for great pictures. So clean and well maintained. I was very impressed.
Emily Harris
Great covid precautions in place (masks required in indoor spaces and encouraged outside) and so many awesome zoo upgrades since my last visit! The giraffes are always my favorite and so good to see Nora, the new polar bear! Thanks, zookeepers!
Chelsea McLaughlin
Beautiful landscape and kept flowers animals looked pretty healthy although all the bird exhibits we're shut down temporarily because of "aviation influenza" I'm rating 3 stars because throughout the entire time my family (including an small children) a CREEPY man who was all by themselves wearing all black head to toe in the heat including black sunglasses and black ballcap with no logos followed us the entire time and even took pictures of my family and I. When we tried to tell the staff and even requested to be escorted to our vehicle because said creepy guy was literally waiting in the parking lot just standing there creeping us out. Staff shrugged us off. Could have been nothing but we all felt uncomfortable to say the least. Would have been nice to at least have an escort to the car.
E C
Nice day at the zoo but almost all the birds where removed so they wouldnt get avian flu, so no flamingos, no bird aviary, didnt get to see Nora, we rarely ever see her there
Olivia Boatwright
Awesome experience for the whole family! You can buy Tickets in advance to skip entry lines and there are many great and tasty food options. There are many learning experiences for children as well not just animals, they even have waggons you can rent for your kids! If you have a trimet pass you can get a discount off your tickets as well!
Colby Black
Went for ZooLights. Although I still hate having to make a reservation for the Zoo- the experience was great. They have added lots of light exhibits since I was there last (b4 covid) kids and adults had fun. took us about an hour and a half to go through, but we had Littles
Eleanor Anderson
Great place for family fun. If you haven't been in a while there are a lot of exhibit updates. We went in the morning and saw most of the animals out and about. There's plenty to do, see, and enjoy.
Lauren Sabine
We walked for almost 3 hours, the kids didn't notice because there was so much to see. There were only a few animals we didn't get sight of. Such a good layout, such a great day.
S “Bonifide2k9” E
Had a great time at the zoo in the evening. Some animals were resting so it was kinda cool to see them just relaxing. Tickets and times are selected online so the social distancing and other covid regulations are great. With such great weather you gotta get your family to go down to the zoo.
Owen Thornhill
Been there several times including the Christmas lights which is great. They got a little train which is cool and a carousel. Can even walk around the park with a beer if ya like.
Catherine Tenison
I've always loved the Oregon zoo. I'm happy to see a number of exhibits are getting an update and that there seems to be plenty of enrichment items in each of the enclosures! Overall, the animals seemed happy and healthy which I love to see!
One thing I will say is that the one restraunt that was open selling food definitely needs some help. Employees there did not seem to have a clue what was going on. Customer order numbers did not match the beeper they were given and mass chaos ensued when picking up orders at the pick up window. Wrong orders were consistently being made and there was no clear organization from staff as to what was going out. Food was being thrown away because it was simply wrong or had sat for too long amid the chaos. The elephant ear that I paid $6.50 for was stale and seemed as though it had been sitting under the warmer for an undisclosed amount of time. I also paid $4.00 for a small 12oz cup of apple cider that literally was a packet of instant apple cider poured into hot water. That was probably the highlight of the meal we ate there. No employees were wiping down tables and the cafeteria was gross. One employee was continuously touching their mouth/face and touching food with one gloved hand. I feel like this is a very missed opportunity to collect revenue for the zoo and I am confused as to why there are empty vending machines and closed food trucks. The line in the restraunt would indicate to me a need for more food and drink options. I understand it's winter, but it was still quite crowded. At $24 a ticket and $8 parking, I honestly expected better.
Also, it would be great to do kid friendly days/times and adult days/times so visitors are not continuously being run over by strollers trying to look at exhibits.
I was also so sad to see the lorikeet exhibit was gone! That was my absolute favorite and loved hand feeding the lorikeets fruit juice! Really wish they would bring that back.
Overall, it was a good visit and I had a great time with friends but I have definitely had better visits to this zoo in the past.
Pavka 79
Beautiful Zoo. Great for families with children. I visited her after 14 years and she changed completely. 👍🏻 Be sure to try Elephant Ear !!! …
Tyler Moerer
It was a good zoo. But paying 24$ a ticket (if you are not from Oregon/Washington) is pretty expensive. The animals were all cool and they had some colobus monkeys (which are my favorite animal) which were cool since I haven't seen those in zoos before. Good zoo but 24 seems a bit high for us, so we definitely won't come again.
CHETHAN GADDAM
Had a great time at the Oregon Zoo. Directions are posted very well during COVID times, it’s essentially a one way path. We were there on a nice and beautiful a Oregon day, so all the animals were out including the polar bear Nora. Someone dropped a shoe in the giraffe land and as you can see the poor giraffe thought it was food and started chewing it.
Isaiah Santos
This was an amazing experience. I went to go see the zoo lights and they were spectacular, we wrote the zoo train and it was amazing and it was so family friendly. It's not even funny.
Cassidy Anderson
I really appreciated everything the Oregon Zoo is doing to follow precautions by social distancing.
They allow small groups of people into crowded areas at a time. They have paw prints on the ground for you to follow so you don't miss anything and don't backtrack. It was a beautiful day when I visited. I'm excited to see if ”Zoo Lights” are still happening this year. Fingers crossed!
Prem Suganth
It was the best zoo we have been in USA. Loved it more than San Diego zoo and others. Definitely worth visiting. Woods gives a unique touch to zoo.
Andre Hawkins
Nice Zoo but train ride was decieving not worth 10 bucks for a 6 min ride. Was told by someone outside of park we would be able to see the zoo and japanese gardens on train. Felt very betrayed.
Rilee Woldeit
The animals were out and about, it was really nice cause we got to see the lions up close as well as the elephants. I was a little disappointed with the Gartner snake exhibit considering they are literally EVERYWHERE on my property, if yall need help with that hit me up, my sons will have a bucket full for you no problem. Otherwise a great visit.
Leesa Fabulous1
Zoo Lights is a beautiful way to start your holiday season!
Frank James Mabry (James)
New reservation system online is simple. Almost everything is open, even food stops. Indoors mask required, outside highly recommended. Bears, lions, tigers, elephants, monkeys, birds, giraffe, seals, otters, and more made 3-year-old's first trip magical. Be wary of the flamingos.
At 4 visits a year, membership is less expensive (for unlimited visits).
Brenda Eley
Always a fun experience. Love that they take such wonderful care of animals and people visiting with misters throughout on a hot summer day. A beautiful zoo, and friendly staff.
Emily
Best zoo I've seen with exhibits that build into the natural landscape. My favorites were the black bears exhibit and elephants exhibit that span large areas. I was surprised by how natural the exhibits were. It reminded of Planet Zoo exhibit building.
Bryan Chasko
Great job by the zoo keeping timed entries and individuals at every installation entrance to remind on safety rules. Got to see one of the beavers during enrichment with staff, which was a treat.
Be sure to get the parking kitty app before you go as there is no free parking nearby that I know of. The beautiful train station is Very convenient for park and ride.
Shrisada Read
Had another amazing trip to the Zoo, and enjoyed seeing Nora's beautiful new enclosure! Make a reservation online, and please be respectful of the rules and wear your mask. Remember, animals can get sick too. 😷💕👍 …

Love the time slot reservations and one way path to see the animals. Definitely being safe & keeping distance during Covid.
Although we went in the evening, we weren't able to see all the animals in action but we did enjoy ourselves and didn't feel rushed.
pablo ortega
Seems to be plenty of parking at the lot in front of the zoo. You do have to pay for parking there. There is food, like small restaurants, inside with a decent variety. Lots of variety with animals and great views.
Little Nel
We really enjoyed our trip but we have been to the Omaha and Denver zoo and we just can't rank it ahead of those. However, we got to see the new polar bear and it was nice and shady. They did amazing with covid. We felt safe the whole time. We also had a wonderful picnic.
Hollie Street
They were out of kids cups in the zoo that day. And not all of the water bottle refill stations were working (drinking fountains off limits for Covid concerns) which made a hot day very thirsty.
It was a beautiful zoo, plenty of exhibits, although some of the animals were shy.
Jay Jaacks
They have really done a lot of work there and the exhibits have received an upgrade. The polar bears, elephants and monkeys all have improved. Save yourself the trouble and make reservations and take the MAX. Bring your own snacks and drinks.
Josh
Awesome time to visit the zoo. Timed entry gives you more room to explore with a lot less people around you. During the week is the best time to go. Currently you need to purchase tickets online. This is a great way to visit but at the same time support our local Zoo. Make sure to bring your masks as they are required.
Vik
Went to the zoo lights. It was beautiful. The train was unfortunately down because of the wind taking down a tree on the rails, but I look forward to it next year.
The elephants were in the indoor area and it was nice to sit with them for awhile.
Lisa Davis
Great zoo. Lots of things were closed and they were noticeably short-staffed. However, the animals looked well taken care of and happy.
Sourini Nath
So beautifully decorated with festival lights across the Zoo!
Linda Meglio
Love this zoo! More things opened this time, nice to see the kid play areas open again. It was raining but seemed to be more animals out than usual.
M.K. Hobson
Always a treat! They're currently undergoing a lot of construction (and also, the pandemic) so several of my favorite exhibits were closed, which was disappointing. But the animals we did see were wonderful! I especially enjoyed watching the tigers.
collin bean
My wife and I visited in October 2022. The park was amazing, caught the elephant show and would highly recommend scheduling your visit around the show. Overall a highlight of our visit to the Oregon coast and would highly recommend.
Daniel Vasquez
Excellent experience. The best thing about the visit was the learning; the staff and volunteers really make sure that you learn and this is important for animal and environmental conservation. I would highly recommend it.
Laurel T
The people running the Oregon Zoo clearly love and care for their animals, and they've also found creative ways to ensure visitor safety while we navigate the pandemic. Their educational programs and live interactive Q&A videos were a bright spot during the time they (and most other venues) were closed, so it is great to have an opportunity to visit in person now. As of August 2020, the public can reserve tickets for specific entry times on the zoo website up to 10 days in advance. I believe advance ticketing is a requirement at this point. Masks are also required, and there is one way foot traffic on the zoo grounds. I felt very safe spending the afternoon there. I look forward to returning soon, as well as later once the enclosed exhibits re-open post-covid. I feel good supporting the zoo, knowing they stand for both conservation and education.
Lena Antiskay
They were very safe and had a trail mapped out, Easy in and easy out. Great walk and the pictures are awesome.
Shawna Hartung
With the habitats mostly updated, the Oregon Zoo is a wonderful local and regional destination. There are several thematic climbing and play areas sprinkled throughout the grounds for kids to engage with the exhibits in a physical way.
Jose
Just posting this review now (Dec 2020) but went last year (Mar 2019). I really enjoyed going here. The flow of the zoo felt natural and really enjoyed how you go from exhibit to exhibit. I live in California so going from the zoos throughout the state here to this one was very impressive. Unfortunately when i went there was much of the zoo under construction. I am unaware at how much the pandemic has hindered construction here, but I know that these projects that they were working on were some that I was super excited about! Definitely wanting to make a trip again when the pandemic dies down a bit!
Enjoy some of my shots from the trip!
Nolin Green
We are from Colorado and it was a great experience for the little ones and well us adults too haha. They have a beautiful elephant exhibit we really recommend. Reason for the 4 instead of 5 star is some exhibits were closed due to pandemic situation...it was very unfortunate we couldn't see the penguins. Other then that it was still a great experience, we shall visit again post pandemic.
Heather M
Great zoo. Love the attention to detail throughout the zoo with settings, sculptures, interactive elements. This zoo's commitment to rehabilitation, education, and animal protection is stellar.
Taylor Noonan
Well maintained, safe and clean!
Great selection and view points of animals. Enclosures were clean, spacious and you typically have 3 different look outs.
The food was okay, they have draft beer for around 8$. Gift shop was stocked and not crowded.
Much of the park is in shady areas so that was nice because we went on a warm day
8$ for parking (unlimited time)
maxwell greenfield
Love the animals! So much fun and good pricing. Can't wait until I can afford a membership. Rated 4 cause I can never find the red pandas.
Victoria “Tori” Daymon CALVERT
The Zoo lights exhibit and Train ride was really nice. The grandbabies and crew had a real nice time. It was cold but well worth it
Sara PDX
It's a one direction only walking path now with employees stationed around to make sure people keep masks on and go the right way. Several areas are under construction, including the bats and polar bears. We had fun, still, just different.
Phillip Wilson
Family had a good time. We were dissatisfied with Afro Cafe very unorganized for a good and beverage operation. They also asked our daughter to "make sure she keeps her mask on and not to take it down to drink water." It was upsetting that a Karen would say something like that to a child, just seemed excessive. I was going to say something, but decided not to escalate the issue and just kept walking.
Rebecca Lin
Went for the Zoo Lights and was a wonderful experience, very elaborate art
Anil Kulkarni
Wonderful zoo. We liked the way they had made the navigation inside the zoo to accommodate for the pandemic. Good number of animals. We missed seeing the lion though
Steve Clark
Great zoo! Love the greenery and scenery of this zoo. It's like a nature stroll with animal attractions. They are doing work to upgrade the polar bear and monkey exhibits. You can get very close to the bald eagles. We got to see the penguin feeding.
The elephant exhibit is amazing and big. You get to watch them play and swim, plus plenty of space to walk around and play in other areas. The gift shop was a bit steeper than expected, but worth it since the money goes back into the zoo. Entry cost was about on par with other places. Definitely worth a visit
Ivan Sultan
There is a great deal of construction going on at the zoo so expect some attractions to be closed. You are required to wear a mask while in the zoo and there are hand washing stations and sanitizer available. I enjoyed seeing the sculptures made from plastics that have been gathered from Oregon beaches and was saddened by the shear volume of waste it took to make the sculptures. I always love seeing the big cats. There is still food service available, but not all facilities are open. We skipped the gift shop this time.
Mike Pruyne
The evening zoo lights by car was fantastic! The lines moved well as a result of the great planning. The displays were captivating!
My family loved it and look forward to future visits.
Matt Swain
Went for Brewlights on the Saturday and whilst getting in was great, the queues inside for certain brewers were huge and unorganised. Next time, 100% need more cider producers there as the queues for those were the longest, often waiting around 20 minutes for cider. Apart from that, a great night.
Joon Park
It was great to see that the zoo is operating again. Unfortunately, I was not able to see many animals as they were nowhere to be found or mostly sleeping. Kind of felt bad for those who are supposed to be running around in nature.
Casey Smith
Although some of the animals were hiding due to the cold weather, it was awesome. The staff are very friendly and there is tons of educational material around the zoo. You could easily spend 4 hours or more here. We rushed through and it took us 2 hours!
