Reviews of Nashville Zoo at Grassmere
Esther Rose
I loved going to this zoo with a friend. There is a lot of walking and the enclosures were larger than I have seen in a while.
The playground was massive, great food options and appreciated that the animal show was very educational.
Also being a vet tech, I enjoyed going to the vet building and seeing the babies and a surgery that was taking place.
The carousel was amazing as well, fun for all ages.
The only downside I had, was there didn't seem to be many water bottle refill stations.

It was beautiful and clean! The views here were breathtaking. Probably the prettiest zoo we have ever been to. The only thing we would change is certain sections would only have one way in and out. Once you passed all the animals you had to turn around and pass them again to move on to another section. Would definitely go again!

My family and I always enjoy visiting. We have purchased annual family membership passes the past two years and have gotten our money's worth. Our kids also enjoy the rides. I highly recommend visiting. The zoo has been adding exhibits and making improvements. We recently got to experience the 4D theater. We look forward to what the future holds.

Small zoo with great exhibits. Many of the enclosures have different vantage points so folks can observe animals easily. Ample seating and lots of shade makes this little zoo very accessible for young children and elderly patrons.
I went in the morning and all of the animals were active and noisy! There were zookeepers with animals along paths offering up close, hands-on education. I was able to spend over 4 hours observing and reading. It was a very enjoyable way to spend an afternoon!
You can bring your own water bottles and there are fountains and refill stations throughout if you don't want to purchase extras. Gift shop prices were reasonable and had something for everyone.
A great little zoo all around!

We visited the zoo during the Christmas holiday and while many of the animals were indoors or secluded due to the cold weather, we really had a pleasant visit. It’s a very nice walking zoo in a small location. We then returned in the evening for the Zoolumination event and was blown away by how beautiful this was. We will definitely become members. This is a very well designed and thought out zoo.

I read some very negative reviews and was very skeptical about visiting but I'm so glad we did! It is an awesome zoo! My kids loved it, as did my husband and I. A lot of the enclosures are in an open environment and the animals looks content and well cared for. There are several things also connected with the zoo like 4D theater, dino trek, zip line, and a few other things (these things do cost extra but are very responsible). The food and beverages are of course a pricey but its to be expected. The staff were helpful and friendly. I will absolutely be visiting again while we are in town.

Very clean, good signage, exhibits are done well (most seem to have plenty of room and variety of terrain for the animals). Smaller than other metropolitan zoos I've visited, but with the construction, it seems more is coming. Very hot day, but there is an impressive amount of shade in the park, which made it pleasant. Grassmere, with the house and farm, is a nice added bonus, especially for adult visitors. I highly recommend the free tour.
Rebecca “Bec” Boncheck
Went on weekday. Not too crowded although lots of school groups. Was able to stay clear of crowded areas and work through to every area. Easy to navigate the exhibits. Plenty of shade. Most of construction is completed and better detour signs in areas under construction. Animals were active and easy to find. Park was clean and modern as were restrooms. Didn't buy tickets online as there is automatic parking charge added to price of ticket and took Uber. Online purchase does not give option to remove the parking charge. Bought tickets at entry, waited about 10 min in line to get ticket. Took about 2 hours to see all exhibits, didn't do any special entry exhibits that require extra fee. If participating in these activities expect to spend more time.

My husband and I loved our visit! We loved the variety of animals and had a couple of unexpected VERY close encounters with some of them! The only thing that could have made our visit better was a paper zoo map, or large "you are here X" type map signs throughout the zoo. An app was available, but staring at our phone was exactly what we didn't want to do at the zoo. Overall a great day though! Definitely recommend!
Denise Primus
Loved this Zoo!!!! I love how they trained the bamboo to provide shade as you stroll through the Zoo. The exhibits are awesome. The animals are well cared for and it was a joy seeing the Zebras and ostriches. We also loved the Lemurs. I also loved how they had refreshment stands and fans conveniently placed throughout the park since it was extremely hot the day we visited.
Sol “Sunshine” Hernandez
The Zoo is very pretty and has plenty of seats and tables all around the park. They do sell soft drinks, beers and food. The Zoo had many animals that you don't see in all zoo's like pink and white flamingos, porcupines. I was very impressed with the Zoo!
Leona Brooks
Love this zoo. The exhibits offer views from several different angles so you have a better chance of catching sight of the animals. Most of the zoo is shaded so even though it was over 90 degrees out, it felt comfortable walking around. They are doing some construction but it looks like it will be amazing addition.
The Trusty Notary
This zoo was awesome! The animals were great, so many different kinds to see. My kids loved the kangaroos and the flamingos were mine. The only down side it was so hot and they had only 2 fans flowing hot air. A small sprinkler system would be cool.
Tammi Bashlor
First time we took our time and we really enjoyed our visit. The zoo was not overly packed and any staff we encountered were nice and helpful. This was the last day of the Dinosaurs and they were interactive and interesting. Highly recommend taking your own cooler in. Will definitely be going back!
Zuri Anderson
It's been a while since I've been to the zoo, but it was just wonderful! Not only were the employees super knowledgeable, but the way the exhibits are designed, you'll see tons of stunning animals and creatures before you know it. Definitely take advantage of the animal shows which are in the middle of the day and come early!
Gabe Reid
Animals? Check. Bamboo forest? Check. Playground? Double check. We have a pass and go all the time. The kids love the new playground. There’s also a merry go round and zip line. My youngest likes the red panda best.
Anthony
Decent spot for a birthday party! Staff was nice and helpful. Unfortunately it was rainy and cold during our visit. Also there were a lot of exhibits not open. Soaring Eagle ride took up most of our time because only one of the rides were operating. Locations of bathrooms were awful. The birthday party location was a very far walk from the restrooms. Overall ok visit, but would’ve been way better if the zoo was running as it should be
Susan wilson
Amazing place. Loved how quiet it was. Didn't hear any road sounds for most of the park. Expect to spend more time then you would think. We spent 5 hours there and enjoyed everything. The habitats looked great and all the animals looked happy.
Natalie Young
We love the Nashville Zoo! It has improved so much over the years in many ways - for the animals and for the visitors! A great place to bring your family and friends. I highly recommend buying tickets before you go, especially on the weekends. 👍🙂

Nice zoo. Takes only a few hours to walk thru. Lots of shady areas. My father in law needed an electric scooter thing, and they did have some! He was able to maneuver the whole zoo ! Food was at a good price!
We stood in line, but bought them online while waiting! It was quicker!!
Carolyn Woodside
Early Tuesday morning was great! Wonderful day, nice cool weather for May and a beautiful clean park. Bathrooms even have monkeys!! The animals are well taken care of and seem very happy! Would love to come back for the light show! Thanks So Much!
Sarah May
This Zoo is one of my favorites! I’d suggest going on a weekday and not while it’s too hot. Although they do have spots around the park that have large cooling fans, they could use some sort of a water spray as well. The new exhibit Dino Trek is worth the extra money. You can see the whole park in about 4.5 hours
Katie Sarazine
Wonderful Zoo. Have a annual pass and go once a month to visit. Not as big as other zoos, but enjoy the different attractions they have throughout the year. Try to go during the week, less busy and crowded. A fun time for the entire family!
Britney Bradley
Fun little zoo. Smaller and less attractions open then what we thought when we purchased the adventure pack with our tickets. Make sure everything is open due to weather! They have places to eat and you can also bring a picnic if you want.
mina isaac
I haven’t been to a zoo since I was maybe 9 years old. This zoo was awesome, I had a lot of fun with this tiger.
There are some educational shows sometimes too so make sure to check the website for the timing of those if you want your little ones to learn something while having fun
Nancy Winters
We came here in May 2022.
The zoo is pretty big and we were here about 4 hours. As of today they are working on the tiger exhibit so it is closed.
I did have a guinea pig area which I thought was very unique.
And we were able to pet a kangaroo and a goat.
The cost was $21 for adults plus $8 to park.
A great place to go if you want to get away from the big city.
Lauren McCrillis
Enjoyed visiting this zoo. Had a lot of upgrades in process so there were a decent number of exhibits closed. Would love to go back and see the new exhibits. Was able to pet a kangaroo which was definitely a highlight.
Pamela Soto
My son kept begging me to get the membership so we could come back again. He loved the carousel, the train, and all the animals. He asked if we could have his birthday party there. My daughter loved the chair ride. I loved having the birds land on me. We didn't get to see all the animals, but it was nice that we could get close enough to see them. We enjoyed petting the goats and the tortoise. I was annoyed that the map of zoo wasn't updated to take account of all the construction and detours, and there were no signs to direct us where to go. I was also annoyed with the exorbitant prices of the food. It was like I was in Central Park again with the tiny bottle of water for $5 (no working drinking fountains) and $5 cookie. At least they allow you to bring in outside food, so that's what I'll do next time.
Ashley Bosserman
It was $40 for 2 adults and parking but honestly the amount of exhibits and buildings was great and the enclosures and animals seemed active and happy and the entire place was super clean. We spent 3 hours walking the place and saw all but 3 animals (which is crazy since it was on the chilly side today). Looked like they were expanding by at least 3 more exhibits and a mention of a boat dock in the future per signs around. Would definitely revisit if ever back in the area!
Bryn Randolph
Come see the amazing animals. I came as part of a separate event and got to use the Botswana area, which had an amazing view of the rhino exhibit. They have lovely "ambassador" animals that you can meet on occasion, and each habitat is home to some really cool dudes.
Tonya Seitzman
I only had 2 hours. It was plenty! I saw white cheek gibbons flying through the trees first. Then blue parrots interacted with us.they loved showing off for admirers. They were happy and content. Next Muir cats. Next many rhinos standing, walking, and basking. Next the veterinary facility where we saw young gorgeous leopard kittens playing. We also saw blue parrot babies getting fed with droppers. Two park associates happily answered all our questions! Next a heavily shaded rest with Dippin dots. Next gorgeous graceful giraffes eating leaves from trees. Next, at the Muir cats, I could go on towards bears for two more hours. But I had to go. Plus I was tired. I will do the next part Next time! I was amazed how much I saw, on a long lunch break. This zoo is FABULOUS. Zen moments with nice music through bamboo woods is a highlight as well.the plants are an attraction all their own.oh, also red hogs.
Jennifer McManson
I do love the zoo but it doesn't have many animals. There's beautiful landscaping and your kids will have fun if they are fairly young. I think admission is expensive compared to the really big zoos I've been too. It's a nice way to spend a family day but I feel like admission should be a little less since big zoos have about the same admission price. St Louis Zoo is free... The staff is great and truly helpful. If there were more to see or the admission was lower I would give it 5 stars. I understand they need the money to maintain the animals and property though.
Miranda White
It may not be the biggest but it’s very interactive! My son and I spent about 2-3 hours here and we loved it! Some activities had longer lines but were worth it. We will be back because the tiger exhibit was up dear construction when we went and they are definitely doing some expansions.
Alola Tails
Absolutely wonderful experience even during the off season. There are so many animals to see and soon to come. The place is under a ton of construction but only because they are trying to improve and provide the best so have patience 😊. …
Jessica Cain
Best zoo I’ve ever visited! Lots of animals and attractions. Very clean. Food/snacks were great. Helpful and kind staff. I took more videos than photos, but here are a few pics I want to share.
Sofia
My kids loved this Zoo. We visited in November ‘21 so it was pretty chill outside but perfect for a walk. Their favorite animals were the tiger and of course the flamingos. Our visit was during the week so I wouldn’t say it was very crowded.
Susan Metz
Lots of walking but it sure is worth is. The zoo areas were very clean. Saw some trash people had left. Shame on them!! There were ample waste receptacles. The exhibits were well placed. Very hot and humid so many animals were in the shade. Can't really blame them. Definitely a go back to. Thanks for the military discount.
Kathy M
This was an absolutely pleasant surprise. I would recommend to anyone remotely thinking about going GO!! It's worth the amount you spend to get in and the animal enclosure are beautiful. This is a hidden gem that's tucked into an area that you wouldn't expect to be there. You have absolutely no idea you are so close to the city of Nashville proper. We had such a wonderful day at this Zoo.
Oh and the house of Grassmere is gorgeous for a house built in 1810...
There was also a fantastic playground area for the Grandkids. Please take the time and go see this Nashville gem I'd be surprised if you don't love it.
Intentional Wanderer
The family had a GREAT time. The exhibits are spread out so there is ALOT of walking. It is a really big zoo. The animals were great, get there early because it does sell out (get full). Animals were pretty interactive. It was very educational, plants were nice too.
Donita Guyer
This was such an amazing zoo! The whole family loved it! I highly recommend planning a trip there when visiting Nashville! You won't be disappointed. Also the gift shop was so big! There is something for everyone in there.
Dana Wall-Oakley
Huge place!! Great animals, some unique animals and some “standard”. Reasonable price for a zoo, I thought and though we didn’t eat there, it has several choices for food if you get hungry. We’d come back if we’re ever in Nashville again!!
Only thing was we couldn’t buy tickets online ahead of time because they want to charge for parking and we wouldn’t need to park, coming from out of town, and there was no option online to remove the parking charge. The line was short to buy tickets on site though, so we didn’t wait long. And most of the paths around the zoo and looking at the animals are shaded by trees and foliage. Beautiful place!
Hilary Kendrick
Visited for the Zooluminations event and it was spectacular! Park was busy, but not overly crowded so it was easy to feel immersed in the exhibits and pause for photos. Hot chocolate was delicious and reasonably priced. Restaurants were open and dinner was quite good, too. And the food was out to us and super hot within 3 mins of ordering.
April Pulley
I love the Nashville zoo! It's clean, the staff is friendly, and the animals look well cared for. I had the opportunity to do a backstage pass tour to meet Ms. Fern, the sloth. It was INCREDIBLE! The zookeepers were very knowledgeable and friendly. Plus, the admission helps conservation efforts. Highly recommend it!
Eric Stender
The great expanse... This place is huge but it means there is a lot of empty spaces between exhibits or locations. We loved the unseen world, but there were other things we just didn't enjoy, like waiting in line to buy a ticket, the attendant being on her phone, buying our tickets, then needing to wait in line again to gain enterance. The park is beautiful, and the playground is huge.
Nicolas Vanerio
Great family fun, especially for smaller kids. Animals seem well taken care of, space is very well built, and there are several food options. The playground is AMAZING, I go sometimes only for the playground as my toddler loves it. The special shows like lights and dinosaurs, charged extra, are also really worthwhile. Membership is really valuable as it also includes entry to other locations on Nashville.
Amy Collier
Wonderful experience with the entire family! All ages! Attended on a Saturday for a work event. But was still a great time! To be expected, some of the drinks & souvenirs & what not were a tad bit pricey. Otherwise it was a good time.
Cassidy Robinson
The lights are amazing!!
I have never been to this zoo... but I shall return. It is very cared for and beautifully built.
They had some exhibits open- not all have visible animals but gave nice warm up breaks. The tiger was SO CLOSE! 🥰
They had open restaurants- pizza and Chinese food, and tons of outdoor stands with hot chocolate. They had popcorn and other snacks.
Got the kido light up toy at the end. Overpriced like they always are... but when proceeded go to zoos... I'm totally okay with the prices.
The lights are AMAZING! The FLAMINGOES WERE MY FAVORITE. The simplistic lights on the bamboo was also surprisingly beautiful!! The featured lights are epic as advertised- I need not elaborate. The photos alone speak volumes on how fantastic the lanterns are!!
It was chilly so dress snug! Long underwear, winter coat, gloves, and uggs. Gloves with touch fingers are a MUST!! 😁
Adrian Gonzalez
Loved the close proximity to the primates and the mob meerkat. Also the old farmhouse they had was beautifully preserved, much nicer than the Andrew Jackson hermitage. And the slave cemetery was just so eye opening. Just beautiful and sad. Only downside was the construction.
Rachel Parrish
2nd grade field trip to the Zoo! 5 stars if there were a few more exhibits...you can see just about everything in 3 hrs. But still fun and my 8yr old wants go back.
Jay Verdesca
When they said this place was a ZOO, they weren't kidding. We visited when it took 45 mins to get in and everywhere was wall to wall kids! Never seen so many strollers in my life. The zoo itself was really nice. Go early or in the middle of the week.
Terry Carlisle
The zoo itself was awesome! Very crowded and parking was a challenge.
My only complaint would be the all day souvenir cup. $11 for the cup and free refills for the day. What they FAILED to mention was that the 1st refill was $5. I double checked and that was not posted anywhere. I feel that was extremely misleading and frustrating.
Jordan Fitts
They are adding quite a few extra attractions which is really nice, also, the night visions deal they just did was EXTREMELY enjoyable. Obviously only the flamingos were out but seeing the zoo in a different light, or lack thereof, was really nice. Hopefully they do more of those in the future.
Kimberlee Samuels
It was a fun visit we were disappointed though because there were construction work going on and we did not get to see some of the animals pictured along the route. The admission fee was different from what was advertised on the website. My family and I enjoyed and I would recommend you visiting.
Candra Burns
We have a Service Dog 🐕🦺 and they made us fill out paperwork at the ticket counter and then told us to go to membership to get a membership and they also asked us to fill out the same form. The member cards printed with Service Animal on them so we don't have to do that paperwork again, hopefully. Then we got to the gate and we're stopped by the worker because they had to radio the park about the Service Dog this process from start to finish took 30 minutes to enter the park and made my anxiety spike. We had a physically disabled veteran come up and save us he said we are all going into the park together and are not stopping at this gate since we did more than the ADA LAW requires already. The animals were okay, it was too hot for everyone though that day. I drank water all day. The staff were nice inside the park though.
John Sproul
We love the Nashvillr Zoo. It is so special. They also do a great job with special events. We love the zoolumination. It isn't the biggest zoo or have the most animals. What is special is that it is laid out well and everything is designed so well. I am super excited for all the new additions they are working on.
Also, it is totally worth it to get a membership.
TrevorandAngela Ryks
A lot of the Zoo was blocked off for construction, but we were impressed with the larger than life fantasy elements throughout the park. There weren't many animals outside, but that might be due to colder weather or timing on our part. The fish and reptile exhibits were great! We had the most fun right before close when the apes got excited and were flying through the trees doing amazing leaps! The large birds were impressive. My kids and I enjoyed the smaller bird cage that we could let them land on our hands and shoulders. We hope to return next year.
Danny Mathews
This is probably the best zoo we have been to (and we really enjoy going to zoos).
We recently moved here and we hadn’t heard great things about the Nashville zoo, whoever told us that was dead wrong.
This zoo is amazing. They do such a great job of making the experience interactive. Flamingos greet you at the front entrance separated only by a couple cones (more meant to keep the people out than to keep the flamingos in). We saw an Aardvark being walked on a leash and got to pet a kangaroo on our last visit.
The entire zoo is wonderfully maintained and the foliage looks like is should be in a botanical garden. Habitats are large and beautiful and the animals look really healthy. There is great shade while walking in the TN heat as well. The zoo-teen program is a great and our kids love learning from them.
Our highlight was the Red Pandas- zookeeper MJ went above and beyond to provide my 4 and 6 year olds with a zoo experience they will never forget. She was amazing and we can’t say enough kind things about Zookeeper MJ. THANK YOU!!
nancy sommers
Really liked the different vantage points to see the animals! Liked that the plants were labeled.
Did not see where there was handicapped parking. When we walked toward the entrance no parking spaces I saw had any sign.
Casey Luciano
We loved the Zoo so much, we made a whole day of it! We had a great tour with Jessica, who took us to meet the giraffes and anteaters behind the scenes. We got to feed them and learn more about conservation efforts. Then we returned for Zoolumination at night and it was fantastic!
Katie Hall
The theming here is excellent. Everything has nice wide paths. Staff was friendly and even gave us a heads up on which animals might be inside. Being able to walk among and pet the kangaroos was a great experience. We went during the day so the lanterns weren’t lit but are very cool to see during the Christmas season. We have a China Lights program in Milwaukee as well but it is not nearly as detailed or well laid out as this was. The restaurant wasn’t open when we visited but there were lots of benches and some picnic tables available. The playground is amazing and has many inclusive features
Jason Greene
Zoo was a lot of fun. A lot of neat exhibits and the animals are up moving when the zoo opens and again before the zoo closes. Not so much in the heat of the day. Get the Adventure Pass for the kids, it was worth the $11.
April Simpson Hunt
Military discount applicable for entire group and was almost half off! Weekday morning visit and for a field trip, but was surprisingly not insane. Hot as you know what and I wish they'd get another water feature, but for the price point you can't beat it.
(Also would love just a couple cheaper food options if possible!) 😀
Jennifer Schmuhl
This was on our Road Trip list as a must! I'm so very glad we did.. It was $50 for my husband & I & that included parking completely worth every penny. This place was so much fun for any age. They even have a section where you can pet Baby kangaroos & a petting zoo area. Peru was my favorite with all the awesome Halloween decorations. This has got to be my favorite zoo of all zoos I've visited. I would get there as soon as they open for it fills up fast!
Paulette Miller
This zoo was great and set up well for families with small children. They recently opened the new Jungle Gym play area which my grandson fell in love with (photos attached). They recommend ages 5-12, but there are a few sections that toddlers would enjoy as well. Be prepared for high prices for food and souvenirs.
Nate Waterhouse
This place was amazing!!! Clean beautiful exhibits animals are well loved. Staff is rude as hell but them aside this is a gorgeous place to visit and the old farmhouse and garden are peaceful and well cared for.
John Burman (Banini)
I loved it. The traveling dinosaur exhibit was cool, but the reptile enclosures they had there were really well done. I'm a huge fan of bioactive vivarium setups and this was all very inspirational for me.
It was packed, but i still saw a lot. I'll definitely be back!
Jessica Kildow
Amazing natural feeling habitats...the craftsmanship and thought to detail was impressive! We went in January with no expectations it cost us $30 to get in, including parking. It was totally worth every penny.
Ginger Cheng
This is the most scenically landscaped zoo I have ever seen among the dozens of zoos me and my boys have visited in US and world wide. Very impressive! Nashville zoo is surely keen in giving the best overall experience to its visitors. I am talking about the peaceful and melodic music the zoo plays at its different sections. Just think of the electric wires it needs to bury underground to support all the speakers! It also has this zoolunination event starting November each year, to make it a big tourist attraction in Nashville.
No wonder the animals there are happy and active. My son and me had an unforgettable Wednesday right before Thanksgiving there!
Chanler Ramey
My husband and I went to this zoo on our honeymoon and it was AWESOME! You can get so close to the animals in a safe and enjoyable manner and there is so much to do and see! It's definitely a day trip destination. :)
Bella Mays
Zoolumination was absolutely breathtaking! Absolutely worth dealing with the cold, plus having the mythos beside each of the exhibits was super cool!
If you're wanting to see animals, they are still out sometimes during the event as long as it's not too cold (at around mid 30s we got to still see the flamingos, bears, tigers, and go in the reptile center).
Kenya Fitzgerald
Three adults plus parking cost $71.00. pretty expensive. Didn't get a chance to see the whole park. But they worked it out for us. The animals are from South America. Beautiful site and very interesting. They also have a night show that starts at 8 p.m..
Jason Smethers
There is soo much to see and do here. They are doing a lot of construction and have already finished a bunch of new parts. The kids playground fort is truly incredible.
Also get the dinosaur pass when it's there, very worth it.
The adventure pass saves you a little if you plan to ride everything, but skip it if you don't (unless you want to zipline more than once).
LaDonna Thompson-Calvert
Beautiful zoo! We received an annual family season pass for Christmas! Very clean, beautifully landscaped, waw such a fun place to visit! Can't wait to go again soon!
Brian Curlin
Boo at the Zoo is a nice experience. We were in town for a soccer tournament so decided to check it out. The atmosphere and decorations were fabulous. Since it was at night, there were no animals out but not a big deal as we were expecting this. They were also in the middle of decorating for "Zoolumination" , which is a Chinese themed light show throughout the park. I can tell this is going to be outstanding from what we were seeing!!
Austin Bennett
I've been as a kid a few times years ago but it amazes me how everytime I revisit there is much more new exhibits and activities. I took my wife here recently and she also absolutely loved it.
Cinthia Sanabia
Great place to take kids to get distracted a little and have fun. They have several attractions. Some of the animals were not available like the tiger. Theres a fun jungle gym and a ride in the middle of zoo. Theres food places to grab snack. But you are allowed to take your backpack, small cooler inside too. If you don't plan on spending just take snacks or juices gor kids. Proces are sirport prices lol 😆 Went during the week thinking it wouldn't be packed. Nope. Zoo is packed !! I would have purchased tickets in advance to avoid the line wait.
Jeff Utsinger
We loved this zoo. They have a lot of great animals. We especially love the large space the animals had. The dinosaur exhibits were amazing.
Inocencio Ramos Jr
The zoo was unique and really nice. Not many food options and a lot of the exhibits were under construction. We also bought the all day wristbands for the rides and we're bummed to find out the Dino trek wasn't included when we asked while we were buying them if it was and were told yes.
Quedo P. Stockling
Great place to take the kids for a day. I decided to take my grandkids for the day and they enjoyed it. We didn't ride any of the rides except the merry-go-round but they lived seeing the animals and insects.
Kristal King
The grounds are beautiful, it had more of a botanical garden feel as opposed to a zoo...moreso due to the limited amount of animals there. If youre looling for chill vibes at a pretty park with your kiddos I would recommend...if the kids want to see lots of animals you may want to skip this one...
Steve Adams
The temperature was hot but the zoo has plenty of trees to keep you walking in shade most of the time. Plenty of animals to see. Get tickets online so you don't have to stand in line.
Lars Schlanbusch
We had a great day at Nashville Zoo. Not too large, so we were able to walk through it all in a few hours. Plenty to see, and no hazzle.
I bought tickets online, and added a parking ticket too, which i never had to use. I asked one of the employees at the park, who said that «honestly, that’l like a scam. You don’t need it for anything».
Maybe i would have needed it in case someone came to check it, but no one did.
I’ll be back!
Meeka
Hot days..Do not worry. Plenty of buildings with AC and plenty of shade. The animals look healthy and lots to do and explore. Wonderful day experience for my family🤎🦓🐅🐒🦏🦥🐢🦎🐊🦜 …

Loved it! My spouse and I had such a good time there! All the animals were so cute, and it was nice to see that the Zoo kept animals in if it was too cold for them. It shows that they care. The decorates for Halloween were witty and cute.

We love the Nashville Zoo! After visiting and enjoying an animal encounter where we got to feed a sloth, we decided to join the zoo instead of a gym. Now we walk the zoo a couple of times each week (weather permitting) and we are getting to know the animals better with each visit. Visiting multiple times makes the experience even better!
A. Rand
I visited the Nashville Zoo as part of the Total Access Pass. The line was crazy long, but I was determined to visit the zoo before I left town and went back home. It was an okay visit; there was nothing really that stood out to me that made me go WOW. I traveled solo but feel like kids would probably have a blast here.
Brad
I love the Zoo to get to see all the animals. They have lots of new
animals coming I can’t wait to go back and see them. They have a petting exhibit you can go in with the goats, alpacasThey have a bird feeding spot you can go inside and let the birds come to you and eat.The Kangaroo exhibit is so neat you can go inside with the Roos and if they chose to come to you they will. There is a indoor reptile, fish, arachnid displays. This is an all day adventure to go to and enjoy yourselves.

Beautiful crisp Monday. It was not a holiday, so children were in school. Chilly enough, not as many animals were out, which was fine. I just wanted a casual quiet no rush - or scramble to keep up w my kids in crowds day. It was a quiet, calming experience. My family pass permitted me to have a "me day"... visited the home and the farm animals this time.
Jesse Cummings (Star_Citrine)
I'm going to be completely honest...the guinea pig farm has always been my favorite part of the zoo so that alone gets my five stars. 😂 Petting and loving on the goats is a real close second though!
N S
We had a great time at the zoo, the critter exhibit was closed, and pretzels with cheese are $7, but that seems pretty typical of zoo markup.
The paths are well maintained, and extremely scenic by using bamboo forest. When you're on a path a lot of the noise from the zoo is dampened due to the growth.
We'll definitely be making a return trip, but be prepared to shell out a couple hundred dollars if you intend to buy anything beyond tickets to get in, when we went nothing was cheaper than $5 (an 8?oz cup of cotton candy) and souvenir stuffed animals ranged around 25-35 . Beanie baby sized toys were around 13.
The experience was worth it, but more of a once-a-year trip rather than a regular weekend experience.

Went on a cold Friday (in the 30s) and they gave us a cold weather discount stating that some of the animals might be put up due to the cold weather. So it ended up being $20 for two. Still saw quite a bit of animals. Got to pet a Kangaroo, their peacocks get to roam free and they were protecting a playground, would sacrifice a child to the peacocks to play in playground though. Had a petting area with goats and alpaca’s. And then after seeing the bears, one of the zoo workers asked us if we wanted to see monkeys and we said sure. But! She took us into a ladies bathroom which was a little weird but they had a little monkey exhibit in there. Super wild, didn’t have it in the mens bathroom :(. At the end of it was a pretty cool experience, 10/10 would definitely go again in the warmer months.
Christy Arnold
The Zipline is a plus. The day we went we did not see any elephants, tigers, hippos, rhinos, or giraffes, that was weird for a Zoo. In my opinion, Memphis Zoo is better. The flamingos were very pretty and came right up to us.
Merriweather Lovelace
The zoo itself is fabulous, however I rented a scooter for my handicapped mother and it was EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO MANIPULATE AROUND THE AREAS…. I literally took it back and got her wheel chair toward second half of the day . I feel like we missed so much. I really hate it, because i paid to see everything. Brjng wheelchair… and use that if have handicap disability, but know even then a few exhibits are almost impossible to get around. Still no tigers :(
However all in all i had a great time… buy the ALL DAY CUPS … totally worth money u save
Anthony Yuill
Beautiful Zoo! Lot's of 🐦 birds, some furry animals and reptiles, lots of bamboo and other green stuff. Tasty snacks and fun for the whole family!
Randy A
Make sure you get there early because they have increased their exhibits what feels like triple fold. Plenty to do and see to keep you busy. While we expect food at these types of places to be high it's only gotten worse even with membership.
William GeLinas
My fiancé and I came here for her birthday and it was amazing! You can seriously spend an entire day going through the zoo once! May I emphasize it is huge! It was easy to find our way around and they even have an app to guide you.
Gerrie Bliss
Great zoo. Had a nice flow, great exhibits, and it wasn't too crowded. They were doing a lot of renovations at the time, so we didn't get to see what look they are trying to achieve. All in all, this zoo was pretty good
Andre Mosley
Wow, I was pleasantly surprised at the number of exhibits and hands on activities. This was my first time ever seeing a kangaroo in person, and being allowed to pet them was amazing!
Nicholas Neil
We love going to zoos when we travel. The Nashville Zoo was a pretty nice zoo. It’s not a huh zoo with a ton of exhibits, but the exhibits they have are very nice. Several activities included in the Adventure Pass were not available during our visit. This was frustrating since the passes were purchased prior to our arrival.
Roger Trovillion
Went for Zoolumination on the Jan 28. Thought it would be easier and less traffic. It wasn't. Took for ever to get in. Traffic was backed up to the main road and several blocks in both directions. The light exhibit had a strong Chinese influence but was quite impressive. All said and done we were glad we went. All the animals were put up for the night during the exhibit.
Kris E B
It was a rainy day but the animals were out. I really enjoy led the zoo because no one was there. I was able to walk around and really enjoy the zoo. Maybe if I return to Tennessee, this will definitely be on my list to visit again.
Micah M
The Zoolumination event was really fun to walk around and was much more extensive than I expected. This would be a great place for kids to enjoy! They also have multiple stands for hot chocolate and/or alcoholic beverages
Alicia Hicks
My family and I absolutely love the Nashville Zoo. Every family member and friend that live within a 50 mile radius has season passes. Kids love it!
Apk Ma
Good experience. Couldn’t find giraffe during the trip the first time. Went back after reaching the gate. The giraffes near the zip lining area. Worth visit. Good for kids.
Lois Henkel
Went on the weekend more people there. I have a yearly pass. Planning ahead and getting reservations for earliest entry & reserving any times for viewing feeling or shows ahead really helps .Be prepared to bring $$$$ as lunch & souvenirs are high. But they are well prepared and service is good.
Brooke Crook
We bought the extra attraction tickets and a couple of them were closed. The 4D theater was worth it though. It was just smaller than I expected. We made it through the entire thing in 2 hours. And only 2 of the restaurants/snack bars were open.
Dan Shaeffer
It was quite cool, so many animals were not happy to be out and about & many weren't. Not tops among the other zoos we have visited. A lot of construction during our visit, so some areas not accessible, and improvements should certainly help with the experience. walking among the kangaroos was neat. Paid for parking, not sure why, nowhere to confirm you paid.
JL Luipersbeck
some exhibits were under construction. but it was a beautiful day to visit. 4 refillable drinks was 50$. i wouldve been ok with this but lines were so long, we finally got one refill. and ro get refill you have to backtrack. however it was a great time with my son and my grands
Andrew Hoffman
It was a fun impromptu trip. There were not a whole lot of animals, and it was just enough to satisfy. You could tell that they were working to expand and recently have made some significant improvements. As it was a nice day, there were lots of people there. Watching people was sometimes more interesting than watching animals.
Stacye D
Zoolumination is an incredible holiday experience! Zoo has mastered parking! Staff friendly and helpful. And the light displays? AMAZING! It’s a must see!
Josh Bortel
Great zoo, little pricey however its a nice and fun place. Buy your tickets online unless you like to wait in a long line. Can buy tickets on your phone while in parking lot
Melissa Hamm
Absolutely love this place! They are doing some construction and updating some of the animals exhibits. I will hopefully be able to return when they have completed it all! Definitely recommend if you are visiting Nashville.
Jeni Floyd
What a beautiful zoo! It's like a lovely walk in the woods with animals in little glens. The habitats are designed so you can really get up close without feeling like they're in cages. I got to pet a kangaroo!! All the animals looked healthy and happy with clean places to live amongst trees and ponds. I only got to see less than half because it was so hot (cooling stations were a brilliant addition) but I'm definitely coming back when it's cooler!
Lacy Dague
I have been to quite a few zoos and this was by far the best zoo I have ever been to. The enclosures for the animals were very large and perfect for each species while giving people the best view. This zoo made you feel like you were stepping into that part of the world with the attention to detail! 10 out of 10 would recommend!
Lisa Freeman
Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. I'm a Nashville native and have watched the zoo grow and change over the years. What it does for the community, families, the state and the animals is nothing short of fabulous. It is pricey but worth the experience.
Adrianna Crabtree
Honestly kinda disapointed..alot of the exhibits were close (kinda mad about the red pandas and tigers) and some of the workers were a bit rude. The playground was huge tho. Bigger than the mansion that was there pretty much. But I mean, it was kinda fun.
Stephanie Begovich
Great clean zoo and a fun visit. I loved the kangaroo area and that I got to pet one. The animals seem to be well taken care of and I was impressed with this park overall. Sadly I didn't have enough time to go through the reptile exhibit.
Jeff Crawford
Parking was a disaster. It took us almost 40 minutes to finally get a parking spot. But the Chinese Latern display was breathtaking. Totally surpassed any expectations.
Bell
The Nashville zoo is great! It seems like they are always expanding and have great events and shows ongoing constantly. Check the website because they often have something going on in the evenings too. Very family friends but also date night friendly
Barb Miller
I love the Nashville Zoo. The employees are friendly and knowledgeable. It's really clean and they are constantly upgrading and bringing in new exhibits. I especially love the bear and tiger areas. I do wish there was a little bit better variety of food to eat but I got an Italian sandwich there and it was good enough that I'd go back for that alone. I don't understand why the did places close way before the zoo does but again, very clean and friendly. We will continue to be members there.
Kathleen Bloom-White
Loved the zoo. Gave it an A for the variety of animals and adventures. Lots of fun for kids and adults of all ages.
Mar S.
We had a blast, the zoo has a really nice layout! We got to pet kangaroos and got to see a mama with her joey! We went on Halloween. It was a cool festive set up!
James Bigler-Damian
Man for a major city zoo I was thoroughly disappointed. I did like the old house and the historical information. The zoo was a decent size too. However, they lacked animals to see. The paths aren't clear. I wouldn't recommend this zoo to anybody, save your money and time and go other places.
For reference I've been to the Buffalo, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, Bronx, Memphis, Toronto and Riverbanks zoo's.
Katie Calhoun
Love this zoo! The walking paths are great and provide lots of shade. If animals aren’t in direct sight, they’re not too difficult to find if you look. Good is expensive like any other place, but they allow you to bring in your own food and drinks and have a lot of picnic areas to enjoy.
Amanda Cotton
We have such an amazing zoo! Highly recommend a visit! The Kangaroo exhibit is THE MOST fun.
Herb Butson
Great zoo. We are from Columbus ohio so it's hard to find a zoo that is compatible and this comes close. 100% would recommend it! I could.put a million pictures but to be honest im.on vacation and don't want to spend the time. Just stop by there and Visit!
Eli_S jolieangelo2001
We absolutely love Nashville zoo. Plus the iced latte is my favorite. Zip line is amazing the attractions are very sweet. Kids of all ages will definitely have fun. This day I took my daughter for a " mama daughter " date. I didn't take anything to drink or eat I wanted to just enjoy our day and not haul an entire food store with me. All I bought was a bottle of water we both got a huge pretzel with cheese dip and iced late for me and an ice cream for my daughter. Also I had tp buy tokens for the zipline but we really wanted to do that. There is a new place to watch a movie in 3 D right next to the zip line we went on the carousel too and next time we will try out the play park. Mind you we went on good Friday and there was a lot of people. But we still got to see a lot. And had a lovely day. Highly recommending to go during the week if ou can. We have the yearly membership so we go at least 5 to 7 times a year and love it everytime.
Nerds On The Go
Night Visions was amazing, so many awesome lights including a water show. It was really neat seeing the flamingos at night as well, we have a full video up on YouTube!!
Jon E Haag
We went with family and the weather was amazing, and therefore it was a great day to spend awhile outside. Be prepared for a good walk (wear appropriate shoes), as all of the renovations and expansions have spread everything out somewhat, but it's not what I would call oppressive at all.
One of my highlights was the mansion. I enjoyed the detached kitchen and the explanations of the old ways of cooking, farming, etc.
Whitney Mosley
Went with a large family group and had a great time! Adults and kids ages 8 yrs to 9 months all loved it. It was busy even though we were there 15 minutes after they opened (it was Saturday of Memorial day weekend) we did still get in and going pretty quickly and easily. My mother in law was able to get one of their rentable scooters with no wait or issues. There is some construction stuff going on at the moment but it wasn't an issue and I'm really excited to take my son back to see the new exhibits and animals when everything is complete. We were able to bring in snacks and drinks and they also had plenty of food options. Definitely recommend for all ages.
Sarah Gantenbein
We visited the zoo, and got our veteran discount tickets at the gate. Regular tickets need a reserved time to enter. I was so glad because the lady that helped us at the ticket counter gave us cool tips of where to see a "hidden" exhibit (one in a men's and a women's restroom!).
The exhibit in the women's restroom was AWESOME, and made me glad to be a woman! Haha
I was surprised at how much I loved seeing the flamingos! They are as social as a flock of farm chickens, but so comical with their long legs and pink bodies! I'll go back again just to see them more! Oh, to see them AND the rhinoceros hornbills, which were mesmerizing to watch! Yeah, I love the birds!
Robinson Express
Very natural environment for the creatures. Food and drink is crazy expensive. Stroller rental available. Tickets are a little on the high end for a zoo but it was okay for our first time. Probably won’t return.
We enjoyed the hands on exhibits where the little ones could pet animals. There is a carousel to ride for $2. It would be nice if the zoo path looped around back to the front gate. Could use more directional signs. There were no maps available.
Malinda Palmer
I loved it! Had the great grand babies rented a 2 seater stroller for 13 bux worked out perfect. The animals are great! The best part we came for this time was the dinosaur trex!!
My 2 yr old gg loves 🦕! …
tonya davismosley
I'm old! Didn't download a map just tried to wing it, Pls download the map! I enjoyed what I did see, I didn't enjoy paying 8 bucks for two dollar store waters, but hey you gotta pay to play right? Anywho...zip lined cause I didn't want my granddaughter to go up there alone it was scary looking down at this rhinos just below but my grandbaby was thrilled 😬 went to the bird exhibit it was cool. They land on you and you can feed em for tokens. Was shocked to get the history from the big 🏠 in the zoo. It was a whole plantation! All of it! It's a mini graveyard in the back with a handful of slaves they found on the land along with the owners and some of their family members from generations past. Don't pass that by, go in, its a lot of history inside( and outside in the garden area too!!). I say get the map because the bigger animals are on another side so we wasted time riding ziplines 😏 we rushed to see the lions, reptiles and pandas. Tickets were not expensive at all and there is a theater (you gotta buy tokens for that and to feed the animals and ride the rides). Please take some comfortable shoes! One of my ankles looked like a cankle for 2 days cause I wore some Jesus sandals🤦🏽♀️ overall we had a good experience at the Nashville zoo.
TA Waller
Very nice Zoo. I love the giant bamboo walkways, very cool and unique! Notba wide variety of animals but enclosures were spacious and we even had encounters with a couple of keeper talks, nice friendly staff!
Dr. McSteamy
Nashville zoo organized “Zoolimination” and that’s what took me there.
Let me begin by saying how impressed I was.
I have no words to describe the beauty of the artwork from all the artists that contributed to this amazing show of lights, shapes and different ideas.
I am attaching the photos so you can all see.
Not sure if this is a yearly thing in Nashville but if it is, I would recommend everybody to visit since it’s a great walk with friends around the zoo. U can not get bored doing this!
Alexander
Very nice layout, wish it was twice the size! Several exhibits were closed and several animals were a no show, avoiding the chilly weather. The kids had a lot of fun and we'll definitely be back!
Somer Jane
The Chinese Lantern Festival Zoolumination was such a wonderful experience! My family loved all the colorful displays and lights. We visited during Chinese New Year and truly enjoyed this event!!🐉
DJ Green
Well worth the visit! We'll maintained and operated zoo! Vast array of animal species too see and activities to do! Definitely would recommend the zipline! Will be visiting again!
Dr Jeremiah Tyson
Went for the zoo illumination event. Words can't express the beauty and intensity of the colors from the Chinese lantern display. AMAZING!!!!!! new have to visit during the day to see the animals... lol lol lol
Ryan Simmons
A very nice zoo which is well kept. I was actually surprised at the meticulous and lush landscaping that they have throughout the park and exhibits. The animals were active and bright. They have a excellent Red Panda exhibit and Andean Bear exhibit. We had so much fun that we bought a membership so we can come back and continue to explore throughout the year.
Eugenia McMullin
Love the zoo. Wish it was more interactive but it's still a great place for the kids and family. Be prepared to spend a good chunk of change if you want to do anything beside walk around though
William Robbins
The Nashville Zoo is a great place to explore and take children to learn about the wildlife there. We visited the Zoolumination exhibit celebrating Chinese New Year. It was a well done exhibit.
Josh Rickard
This zoo amazing, had a great day making memories with the boys!! The jungle gym is the most amazing playground in that we have ever been on so far!!!!
Angelo
One of the best zoos I've been to. I heard the tiger and bear exhibit every zoo in North America in 2018 and 19, and I believe it! Heads up- there is NO PENGUINS or GIRAFFES. They're working on the giraffe enclosure and they post poned penguins, I'm not sure when but they update on Twitter. The penguins are my favorite, so I was a little dissapointed. It was $20 for adult tickets $2 in taxes, $8 for parking. Lovely layout/scenery. The flamingos were very pretty to look up close to, though they seemed to have woke up on the wrong side of the bed. There was a snapping turtle in a really small tank, so hopfully that was just momentarily. The pizza was alright and just that. Overall pretty decent, love the scenery. Also very clean!
Stephanie
I love this zoo! For starters, it's just beautiful. The landscape all over the zoo is peaceful green. It's shaded most places. I really enjoyed that there are flowers and greenery instead of just concrete and exhibits. There is plenty of parking. You can bring food in, which is a big deal! The prices are fair. I have been to many zoos and this is one of my top favorites.
Claire Deluke
We went to see the lightshow and it blew my mind. Zoo was on the smaller side but we were there at night. We had a wonderful time and they even serve alcohol for the night events.
Moira Legault
I would have given it five stars, but for our first experience it was incredibly crowded and people/kids weren’t paying attention to ANY signs (like don’t break the bamboo, don’t throw money in the water…). Not to mention people would try to blatantly disturb the animals, or just walk right into you without a care. Just *really* wish people would be hounded more for doing the wrong thing here. Animals have feelings just as much as we do. Please just respect the rules of the zoo and those around you if you’re going to go.
Mayra Roman
Had great time with family, lot of animals out. We love to see an elephant some day. But overall very nice trip.
Bri Shaw
Had a blast, even though some of the animals were away for the season. The animal hospital was an interesting addition to the zoo.
David Vanderpool
It was just amazing it was a perfect day all the animals were pretty active and I had an amazing trip with my granddaughter and my son we really enjoyed the day at the zoo
Carlos Granja
It is a beautiful experience, very familiar where you relax and rest from the daily routine, it is very relaxing. The staff very friendly and attentive. I invite families to visit the Nashville Zoo. ! The best.
Jaimie Kittle
Loved the Andean bear exhibit and seeing the vet center! Great for a few hour excursion. We plan on coming back once construction is completed.
Chloe Barker
Very nice zoo! I am an AZA zoo member so I like to visit AZA zoos when I travel. This zoo has amazing enclosures for the animals, some of the best I’ve ever seen. They don’t seem to have as many animals as I’ve seen in other zoos, but what they do have is worth it to see! Because of this it seems to be a shorter trip, w
I was there for about 2 hours. I would definitely recommend this zoo!
Sara Hasenfuss
Great time spent at the zoo! I suggest getting there when they open. They are out walking different animals like the flamingos, peacocks, and sometimes a turtle lol. There is a bit of walking between enclosures. I think if you want to hit as many things as possible, I suggest doing the loop to the left that includes the kangaroo kick about! Such a fun experience to be in an area with the kangaroos. You can even pet them if they come up to you.
Katelynd Wolf
We always have a great time at the zoo! The staff is great. Lots of construction going on now so we're excited for the changes to come
Andrew Bradbury
The Nashville zoo is amazing for any age. The new playground is great and our chosen love the space. They also really enjoy the kangaroo exhibit along with the flamingos. Would definitely recommend!
Ian Scharn
The Nashville zoo is amazing, always has awesome animals and is clear to see. All different types of animals. Been there many times and will go many times more.
Allison Brents
Wow! Such a great experience each time we've gone! Big enough to split this place up into 3 1.5 hour visits so definitely get a membership! We were running late by 30 minutes due to traffic but they let us use our reservation anyhow. The train was a little small for adult ridealongs but we made it work. The Andean bear, the tigers and the playground is enormous but awesome. You can spend an afternoon just visiting the playground and eating the delicious veggie quesadillas at quills!
Edge Pacana
Great layout and amazing space for the animals. The adventure pass is worth it for the kids. We were able to get 1/2 price tickets because we are members to the Knoxville Zoo.
Mark Ultz
Loved this Zoo's layout 👍🏻A lot of activities to do for all ages. The Dino area was amazing 👏🏻 …
Things In Nashville
Zooilumination was awesome!! Beautiful silk lanterns that were much bigger than I expected. I highly recommend going!
Michael Morey
Zoo was well maintained and the animals were well cared for. It was cool enough that most of the animals were outside.
Seth Bell
Went with my niece, partner and sister. Was disappointed with how much construction was going on. But the property was clean and staff was friendly. Exhibits were really cool.
Tammy Roper
Great zoo. Lots of animals. plenty of shade. It is just a fabulous experience in the middle of town.
Bridgette Hayes
Very nice zoo, friendly staff, animals appear well taken care of, clean and well maintained. Good amount of shade on the walkways. Plan to bring a decent amount of water/drinks or purchase a drink especially on a hot day since none of their water fountains are back in service yet. Great place to visit with the family!
Derek Assaf
This zoo is amazing. They have rhinos and giraffes, they have meerkats and tigers, and I got to pet a kangaroo. My three year old son loved the carousel. They have stations to buy drinks everywhere, which I find very convenient. The ground and paths were clean.
Emma Jenkins
We always love our time when we go to the Nashville Zoo! I only wish some of the enclosures for giraffes and other animals in smaller areas had more space, but as a whole the zoo is fantastic!
Ruth
We have an annual membership so not sure about cost of visits. We really enjoy just walking around with the kiddos, all ages find something to enjoy. Had a great time at Boo @the Zoo again!
Robert Beiter
Unfortunately quite a bit of the zoo is under construction so it was not as enjoyable as it could have neen. It is nice Zoo otherwise.
Cindy LaFord
It's small and doesn't have a lot of animals, but it was nice and the workers were polite and ready to help if you need anything
Samantha Jones
Nashville has upped their Zoo game! Go check out the Kangaroos, you can get right next to them. Rhinos chillen, maybe we got lucky, saw so many animals out. You may want to plan ahead, select parking window. Very easy to get online tickets. We opted for a membership, go twice pays for itself. Can't wait to go back for the Lights display!
Jeffrey Kanne
Well designed zoo with great animal views. The habitats gave the animals ample space while preserving viewing space. The gibbon islands and spider monkey habitats were particularly nice. One of the few zoos with a crash of rhinos. Most of the zoo is shaded. A variety concessions are available. Ample parking
Josey
This is a good zoo with well cared for animals, I absolutely loved the lorikeet exhibit, they are pretty well socialized and one hopped on my hand, which made my whole day because I love birds so much 💓 The exhibits where you can walk in with free range animals were the coolest, it really lets you see close up beauty of the animals, especially the birds.
missypopmusic
Love this zoo! Compared to other zoos I felt like the animals were taken care of and the exhibits were very accommodating and large. The animals seem happy here. Thought it was so cool we got to pet kangaroos! Definitely recommend visiting if you're in Nashville
Penni Contreras
This was a great little zoo. I was personally impressed by the care given to each animal and exhibit/habitat cleanliness and care. This zoo was immaculate. These were the healthiest most active animals I've ever seen at a zoo..(Particularly the tiger..healthy beautiful coat, not skinny like many zoo tigers are). The herpaterium/aquarium house was also immaculate. These habitats were so well cared for. Please keep up the good work!! You guys are doing a phenomenal job.
Tiffany Harrell
THE BEST ZOO. I loved it and would.come back. Clean, well maintained and a great variety of things to see and do.
Miranda Quezada
A great zoo for all ages. The enclosures are well maintained and the animals look great! Going during the zoolumination was amazing!
Jessica R
Nice experience! The zoo has lots of amenities. Plus everything was clearly marked. You could walk throughout the zoo, knowing where each exhibit was held. Sadly, the rhino was not shown as that area was under construction. And some tours were close. Either way, we had a great time!
Jennifer Evans-Cantrell
We visited for my grandsons 7th birthday. We were all very pleased with the Dino trek!!
Kelsey Leslie
Wonderful experience!
We are members of the Cincinnati Zoo and try to use our reciprocal discount as often as possible--great deal. We stopped at the Nashville Zoo during a long car ride. It was our 3rd or 4th visit in as many years and the best visit yet. We arrived as the park was opening. The kangaroos are active in the mornings and the flamingos were also taking a stroll.
Christina Gerrets
Loved the zoo! The animals look happy and there's a lot of great information!
Peyton Lowhorn
I've always enjoyed this zoo as a local. But over the years it's changed so much and has only got better.
Amy Hop
We love going to the Nashville zoo! Every time we're in Tennessee we go. We even bought season passes. I especially love that they serve margaritas, fun treat for adults!
It was terrible during covid when they made everyone wear masks.
Dadawn Taylor
It’s cooling down I’m not sure if that’s why a lot of things are closed there. But still some animals are still out. Bring your best walking shoes and if you have small children bring a stroller although you can’t bring it in most areas
Nicole Czosnek
Wonderful zoo! Great prices for tickets. They offer a military discount. Walking was about 3.5 miles to see everything. Paths were wide, well shaded, and very well maintained! Staff was wonderful and very helpful. All the animals had huge enclosures that were well maintained. This zoo is totally worth the visit. Interactive zoo app was amazing. We were able to find bathrooms, shops, activities, and specific animals using it. Would download before going to the zoo since the cell service in the zoo is a little slow. Would definitely go again.
Kristine P
Weekdays are better! Less crowded and able to take your time without feeling crowded and rushed. Membership is definitely worth it if you live close by and/ or if you have children. Bring your own water/ food to save money.
**The new park is amazing! 90% of why we got the membership in the first place.
Shelby
The zoo was great with social distancing and masks. Be sure to print your ticket ahead of time, or if you go with it on your phone you'll have to wait In the ticket line for them to print it off. The animals all looked happy and healthy.
Petting zoo with goats, also you could pet a Kangaroo, both experiences were free of charge to do.
Road the soaring eagle zip line, I believe it was $8/person, line was a bit of a wait but still fun (did see a little boy pass out while on it, so take age into consideration before riding. Also, I have wider hips and felt like I was coming off the side and esp the front of the chair so beware of this, you do have a seat belt strapping you in).
Was very interesting to stop and read the information at the old farmhouse, was unexpected and a nice addition to the history of the land where the zoo is.
The grounds looked clean and well kept, except for the porcupine exhibit. There is some water at the front of their habitat with an open bridge to walk by, there was some trash and masks in the water which was sad seeing a turtle swim by it.
The building with the snakes/fish/insects was limited capacity so we waited in line for our turn. Strollers have to be left outside of this building fyi. The area with the plants and butterflies was closed at the time we visited.
I liked bringing my own water bottle, but they have a lot of concessions throughout the park if needed.
Scott Milner
We went to Zoolumination at the Nashville Zoo. Wow, they really did an amazing job. It goes thru the entire park. I would go again and would highly recommend this to everybody!
Lasydnia Styles
We enjoyed the zoo but a lot of the exhibit were closed. My family and I still had a wonderful time. I do recommend bringing your own food. You will save a lot of money that way.
Holly Yarbrough Burnett
I can’t say enough wonderful things about Zoolumination! Photos do not do it justice. It’s a must see if you’re visiting Nashville over the holiday season. I’m definitely going back before they close for the year.
Skrub
It’s a very fun time, very expensive food and drinks as you would expect. If with friends or family it is definitely worth the money and fun time memories!
Stacy Pacella
Was told that the light show at the zoo were a must see....and they truly are spectacular! Super impressed with the detail and craftsmanship of these beautifully illuminated displays!
Tiffany Martinez
We had such a great time at the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere! Was disappointed that we couldn't go into the building with the fish and frogs, though. I'm not sure why that was, whether it's covid or they're changing it up. Still, had a great time!
Patrisha Webb
Very fun. Good assortment of animals and experiences, as well as beautifully themed areas. Highly accessible and easy to walk pathways.
The zoolumination event was being set up and it looks very beautiful so far.
Not a huge zoo. It can be walked in 4 hours or so, especially if you just go to see the animals and don't stop to do a lot of the activities. Still fun and worth seeing though.
Thomas Sciulli
Very cool experience....very clean .... there's even some exhibits in the restrooms....and feeding the Lorikeets was a blast.....and the Guinea Pig pen is interesting.
Sean Hudson
A fun zoo with a lot of interactive aspects. All the staff we encountered were very helpful and very personable. I also appreciated all the options for patrons with special needs. I really enjoyed it!
Shanda McCartney
THE BEST ZOO IVE EVER BEEN TOO.. HANDS DOWN!! IF YOU HAVENT BEEN THEN YOU MUST GO.. AFTER THE 1ST TIME YOU'LL GO AGAIN, I GUARANTEE IT!! IT'S WORTH IT GUYS!!
Susan Bergeron
This is a beautiful zoo. Well maintained, many different animals. Perfect place to spend the day.
James Rogers
Went for Zoolumination, not for the zoo, but was surprised with both. Its a great walking area, really well done displays.
For the zoo aspect, we actually got to see a tiger roaming and some pink flamingos. Everything else was inside since it was so cold out. Really enjoyable evening, plenty of parking!
David Rodriguez
Love this place. Great exhibits and one of the best zoos I have been to.
Brittany Lynch
This zoo is in my top 3 that I’ve ever been to. I loved the style of it and how easy it was to walk to each section and socially distance with other people. Great variety of animals.
Sierra Santel
We absolutely love this zoo. It is clean, beautiful, and so much for kids to do. They have the nicest kids playground we have ever been to. Would easily be 5 stars if it weren’t for reserving your arrival time because of the parking construction. When we signed up to be members this was not mentioned and I do think members should get a discounted annual fee until this construction is finished. We got the membership because we pop in to play at the park all the time! We don’t plan out our park trips days in advance but that is what is required to get a spot now.
Catherine Long
We are from mke, wi and thought the Nashville zoo was pretty cool. The lay out was really pretty and I really liked that a lot of the animals did not look like they were in cages, it looked very open.
However, it didn't look like they had a lot of animals. At least not big opens. We tried to see the tiger but it was very hidden. My 2.5 daughter mainly enjoyed the kangaroo path and the carasal. Would go again.
Angie Person
A well-thought-out planned zoo with lots of different stuff to look at and do. Great place to take small children, lots of shade along the way, lots of different exotic animals and places to do stuff. I really wish I could have seen the bird enclosure but it was closed due to covid. There were still lots of other very rare birds and unique animals if you know you are looking at. Definitely plan on coming back it's a wonderful place to take the whole family very clean and friendly staff.
Diana D
One of the best zoos I've been to with animals many others don't have. They don't have giraffes or elephants or lions, so some of the expected things are missing, but if you're looking for something a bit different or something to do with the children, this is a great option! Many of their animals are from South America, which is pretty neat! There's a lot of information sprinkled about talking about all the ways they are helping various conservation efforts and breeding programs.
Also, very importantly, the playground here is all by itself worth the price of admission for the kids!! It's filled with a variety of interactive opportunities. I've brought my granddaughter here many times and she never gets bored with all the things to do. Plus, there's a single point of entry to the playground which definitely helps!
Went back for the zoolumination event and that was also spectacular! We had a ton of fun just looking through all the displays. Takes about 2 hours to do the whole thing. Definitely going back next year!!
Dominick Luizza
Great zoo for its size!
I love that you can pet the kangaroos. The tiger exhibit was fascinating, the reptile terrariums are interesting and the guinea pigs are adorable!
Kristin Sexton
Beautiful place. Kids couldn't get enough of being able to pet the kangaroos. We were out of town to come here but we will be back!
Ken A.
This is a must see place when visiting Nashville. Probably one of the best zoos I've seen. It was extremely clean and well maintained. The exhibits were well done. There is plenty to see and it's so big we actually skipped a couple of exhibits because we were tired of walking.
Everyone in my group commented how much they enjoyed it and I highly recommend this place to others. Great place for kids and adults.
brittny92
Very nice zoo. Have one way walking paths so you get to see everything but still maintain some distancing if you wish. Very friendly staff and ready to assist as needed. Would definitely visit again! Attached a few of the habitat photos, loved how they were really natural looking for the animals.
Rhonda Harris
The lights far exceeded our expectations! What a fun night. This is by far more enjoyable than Opryland hotel. Even the hot cocoa was delicious. You all did a great job and we can't wait for next year.
Catherine Ward
This Zoo is just beautiful! The foliage is lush and the exhibits are beautiful and very natural. We saw Rhinos, tigers, meerkats, gibbons, bears, kangaroos (which you can pet), many birds and lots of other animals. There is also a historical area that has a manor house and farm, which was what the land originally was used for before being donated. It was a very relaxing, nice afternoon. I highly recommend it for anyone who loves animals.
Alejandro De Barros
Excellent experience at the Nashville Zoo. This is a nice place to take your kids and spend some time looking at different kind of animals the zoo has. There are multiple areas where the kids can actually touch some animals like kangaroos and goats. There are several places to eat inside so you don't have to eat outside. Also the parking lot is big so finding a spot is not difficult.
Brandy Timmons
It was a pretty zoo most of the animals were asleep unfortunately so the kids really didn't get to enjoy it like they should have. Not to mention we stood in line for like 20 minutes in order to see the tiger and people were so rude letting their kids come and cut in front of us and not saying anything about it.
Very large zoo & the staff was real polite
India Boothman
Thus is one of the most delightful zoos I've ever been to. The animals seem happy and well cared for.
Troy Amer
Not a bad zoo, the grounds are very well kept and the landscape is very nice. However, the animals here are lacking compared to the Memphis Zoo, Louisville Zoo, Zoo Knoxville, and Birmingham Zoo, which are all a few hours away from Nashville and all have much more exotic animals like elephants, great apes and big cats. There's also just one viewing area for the African Savannah exhibit, so if all the animals are on the other side of the field, you're out of luck. Still, this zoo provides a nice day trip if you're tired of the bar scene in the city.
Jenee
It was a pretty good place to visit and take your kids. They have some exhibits and some animals that I've never seen before. Overall cool place.
Brittany Reno
Decent zoo. Some areas there is a lot of walking with nothing to see or do. Plenty of food options. The bathrooms are pretty nice and clean.
Dustin Wehman
Great place to take a family. Many activities for kids, and the animals felt close and easy to see.
Allen Livermore
Brought my kids here and we enjoyed the visit. We arrived just as the gibbons were shrieking. The Andean bears were a treat. The Unseen World exhibit was well worth the 15 minute wait. It included fish, amphibians and insects such as the giant cockroach from Trinidad. Other notable animals were the pudu, guinea pigs (which, we learned from the exhibit, are eaten in Peru), meerkats, giraffe and walk-in kangaroo area. You may even get to pet one. Kids loved the Zipline. The drinking faucets and water bottle faucets were turned off but a friendly staff member in one of the cafes kindly filled them and added ice at no charge. Plenty of restrooms. We saw everything in 4 hours.
Carly (GalaxyGirl)
It was raining which was a bummer, but all the animals are lovely, lots of information about them, even a fun secret exhibit in the ladies room! Always fun with the kiddos, even fun for the adults, I reccomend!
Ernie Ayres
I was here during a renovation years ago and it was depressing. Now, the work is done and it is fantastic! It's smaller than our zoo in Columbus, OH, but that just means more attention to detail can be made. All of the grounds are very aesthetically pleasing and extremely well done. We were there during a particularly cold day so a lot of the animals were not out. But the ones that were out were mostly walking around showing off. We highly recommend spending the day, take your time, and bring the kids.
Colin Bosler
One of the better zoos I have visited! Very clean and lots of trees and bamboo to provide plenty of shade. Beautifully landscaped. All of the animals appeared well kept and active. The rope bridge was a neat surprise and fun to walk across. Ample parking and there's even animals in the restrooms! Staff were very friendly and helpful as well!
Jack Reed
I generally enjoy going to the zoo. I try and visit zoos in each city I visit. Recently moved to Tennessee so we went to the Nashville Zoo. Lots of construction. Bridges are extremely slippery. Wife almost fell on one and tweaked her knee. The old house and tour guide were fantastic. Hard to imagine the best part of a zoo being a house tour but here we are. Some of the exhibits were well done and large. Which I appreciate but you need to bring binoculars to see anything. All in all I felt $80 for 2 people to go to this zoo was a little steep or perhaps my expectations were too high. I would try again in a few years maybe. This visit left little to be desired.
Debbie Cornett
It was a hot day but plenty of shade, good restaurants, variety of different and unusual animals. Beautiful setting, very shady and enclosures are mostly wooded. Plenty of bathrooms. Very nice zoo!!
Justin Smith
Absolutely LOVED the Nashville Zoo experience. So many beautiful enclosures for the animals, but my favorite part was petting a baby kangaroo.
Wes Black
A wonderful experience. I took my 8 yr old and we had a blast. It is so open and beautiful and reminded me of Disney's Animal Kingdom. Lots of fun details hidden throughout and a complete escape from the area surrounding. The enclosures are so big and well designed the animals looked to be loving every minute. I can't wait to return. There are several food and drink options throughout the park but you can also pack a bag and bring drinks and snacks.
Carla Kemp
We took our grandchildren for the day. They were busy but we didn't have t o wait except the ticket line was very long. The areas were clean and the employees friendly. Would definitely go again. The bear exhibit was my favorite.
Holly Neely
We got tickets to he Zoolumination and it did not disappoint. Everything was so beautiful.
David Knight
Great visit to the zoo. There is a timed entry requirement, which helps keep crowds down. Excellent weather resulted in lots of active and visibility animals. Parking is odd due to construction, but again, timed entry kept things calm. Make sure you buy tickets online in advance!
John loper
They have done a great job with the enclosures, the walking paths are easy to navigate, they have multiple food areas, multiple simple rides, and show the history of the land back to when it was a farm.
Great experience and for about $20 a person not terribly expensive
Gina Lacks
Went to see the lights and it was awesome! We went around to everything twice! Price for hot chocolate was a little high. Since the tickets were expensive they should sell the drinks and snacks at a more reasonable price. Love the lights!
Cornelius Tucker
Some of those animals look like they need to eat some more and some of the birds look like they're freezing what? Other than that, it's okay. It's a good place for a nice day
Ryan Bazan
I appreciate any Zoo where the animals are well taken care of. The Nashville zoo is now one of my top 5 favorites. The History of the grounds is on display and informative. The grounds are ample and the animals have some level of privacy and space from the public. I wasn't expecting much but this Zoo was a great surprise on my short Trip to Nashville. You will not be disappointed stopping if your in the area for any reason!!
Ethan Hall
We visited for the year end lights. They were more amazing than I expected. Beautiful job and I was very impressed.
Pros: Top notch display. The suggested route help keep everyone moving and resolve some of the traffic jams. They even had many stops for refreshments!
Cons: We paid $8 for parking. No one check for parking passes. Speaking of which I only saw two people with lights trying to direct traffic. Getting into this place was complete chaos! It took us over 20 extra minutes to travel .8 miles.
I liked the lights but I do not think that I will return due to the cluster it was just to get my car parked even after we were given a reservation time.
Jeremy Huston
What an amazing time, we just made it to the last full weekend of the Zoolumination. They really put on a great display.
Michelle Patrick
This was the first time my 5 year old got to go to the Nashville Zoo. He absolutely loved it and now he can't wait to go back for the Lights Festival starting in November!
Jessica Higgins
Incredible! We got to pet a baby kangaroo who hopped right up to us. It was as fluffy and soft as a baby duckling. Such an amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience!
Helen L
So nice. Visiting from Cali. Nice enclosures. Animals were mostly active and happy looking
T Dwayne W
Visited while in town visiting relatives and we are glad we went. Spent over 4 hours there and we were able to see pretty much everything.
The children's playground is AWESOME!!! Great place for the children to run around while parents are able to rest/unwind.
Enjoyed the Dinosaur exhibit. Prices for this extra attraction is comparable to other zoo's special exhibits. We were able to feed the flamingos which was very memorable for our daughter.
Despite the parking lot being full, the zoo was spread out enough to where we weren't feeling crammed in.
Only complaint was the lack of working water fountains/refillable water stations. Most of the water fountains weren't working and we found only one fillable stations (reptile house) by the restrooms.
Chilleo59
Decent zoo. Not a ton of animals but the layout is very nice there is a pack of bathrooms throughout the zoo though. You do need to walk a decent distance to get to a bathroom.
Courtney Boxx
Visited here a few months ago with my family and my fiancée, and it was a fantastic experience. Very clean area and not too expensive for tickets. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and have went before and will be going again. Added pictures below of animals throughout the park. They have a wide variety of animals, including wildlife outside behind gates, a huge indoor reptile/aquarium animal exhibits, etc. Would highly recommend this place for other families to have a great family day out at the Nashville Zoo. It’s not too difficult to get to if you know the area or by using GPS. They have plenty of signs to lead you to the check-in area and plenty of parking.
Anna Belle Bates
We all enjoyed the zoo so much. Lots too see and do. The zipline was my children's favorite.
Jeff Stinson
Working on reservation system so make sure you call ahead or book online. Nice variety of animals and seasonal events. Kids loved the play area. Food and drinks are way overpriced, which was expected, but they do allow you to bring your own food and beverages into the zoo with some limitations on packaging.
Shaylen Houston
There are some updates that need to be made, but the things for kids to do are great. The carousel needs some love. The animals are wonderful. Make sure you don't miss the monkeys in one of the bathrooms! I think it's a bit pricey for the size of the zoo, but I don't mind paying it to support taking care of the animals.
Genna Clegg
We got lucky and we were able to walk up on a Friday afternoon and get into the zoo. The farm and museum was very very cool. Almost better than the zoo itself. Most of the animals seemed happy and well taken care of. My only complaint is how spaced out the animals are. It is a lot of walking for not a lot of exhibits. Plus, I got a pretzel and it was horrible.
Brian Helming
Totally unexpected how great this zoo is. It looks small on the map but they do a great job of making you feel like you are walking for a while going through lots of exhibits. The reptile/fish house was my favorite. Unfortunately there was parts under construction so I didn't see all I wanted but it's exciting they are expanding.
Juan Jenn Aüe
Was a very cool place to check out and have the kids enjoy some animal time. Kangaroo area pretty freakin cool.. A few things could have been better but overall a must see and put on the "to do list"
Oday Dean
A wonderful family place where children as well adults will have an amazing memorable time. The playground is the most fascinating part of the museum that children love. The zoo has many more fun sections that will keep you day very busy.
CCM
Zoolumination has got to be the best “light display” in Nashville this year. They went all out to provide a perfect setting. Get your tickets online. It was amazing!
Sarah Jane Gibson
Beat zoo on the planet! Really can’t say enough. I visited last spring and I think about it all the time. So when zoolumination was announced I knew I had to go. Drove from South Carolina and it did not disappoint! Always clean and friendly
Bryson JonSteele
Loved this zoo! Only complaint(actually not even complaint, just thought)was it was very cold on the day we went and only 1 spot around us had coffee or hot chocolate! The animals were well taken care of (some inside interactions due to the cold) and staff were very educated and interactive with guests. We will be back!
Liudmyla Kozynska
This is great place for visitors of all ages! And the zoolumination is one of the most beautiful human made things I have seen.
Diane Carrozzo
Had a wonderful time at the Nashville Zoo. Entry fee is $20 (Oct. 2022), but I also paid the extra $11 to have access to things like the zip line and lorikeet feeding and the 4D movie. The animals are healthy and well-cared for. The zoo is spotless (for a zoo). The staff is very pleasant and helpful. One thing... you MUST buy your tickets online. They don't sell them at the entrance. Enjoy the zoo!
Dee Marie
I was expecting more animals like other zoos . But it was nice. I thought it was a little over priced and the adding the adventure pack wasn't worth it that day.
Diane Parks
Nashville Zoo is so nice! There is a bunch of shade when you're walking and the ambiance of each exhibit is so unique. There is a park inside the Zoo as well that is amazing! We could spend the whole time just there. If you are planning on going more than once, it is definitely worth it to get the membership pass.
Mo Bowlus
Always something fun to see and learn at the zoo like Zoolumination!
Rae Lynn Flippo
I’ve been here a couple of times and I love it. It’s one of my favorite Nashville destinations.
Melissa Goff
We are regulars at this zoo and it's honestly one of my favorite parts of Nashville
Tressa Evans
Absolutely amazing atmosphere. We are visiting from Oregon and we love going to our Zoo. This Zoo is even better. The natural feeling and interactions you get to have with the animals is so amazing. We are only here for a week but will be back before we go home.
Nicole Teters
The zoo itself was nice and pleasant and my son enjoyed seeing all the animals, however it was very well populated on this particular Sunday and only so many tickets are sold. We arrived at noon to the the unpleasant news that we couldn't get in until 230, we got our tickets and went to Chuckie Cheese. On arrival back at the zoo, we were able to go in at 2:20. The zoo itself is very clean and an incredibly fun and interesting animal experience, the drawback being that an hour and half is not nearly enough time to see all the interesting stops along the zoo path, such as the kangaroos. You either have to wait in that massive long line and miss a good portion of the rest of the zoo, or bypass the specialty animals with separate lines. My recommendation, buy your tickets in advance online, go early, and on a day that is not as busy to encompass the majesty of the Nashville Zoo and its many walks of wildlife.
Cathy Bell
I often take my 3 grandchildren to the Nashville Zoo and we LOVE it. The new playground is absolutely wonderful. It was packed last weekend but still plenty of room to run, play, climb, etc. The animals were out enjoying the sun, too. The zoo is always so clean and it is just a fun place to visit and learn.
David .O
Recently went on a tour for the Croft House, our tour guide was Alexa. I was looking forward to seeing a piece of history and learning about the people who lived in this home, and what they have provided to the community. It was very informative and educational, very surprised to see how well the staff cared for and respected this beautiful building and everything it had to offer. It's not just a tour for adults, I'd bring the whole family to see how far we've come and show appreciation towards the people who came before us. Especially towards the people who gave us the opportunity to have experiences like this. Alexa was patient with everyone and willing to answer all our questions during the whole tour, very enthusiastic and you can tell she loves doing her job. If you have the opportunity definitely check out the Croft House and get a tour guided by Alexa, I will becoming again in the future. There's a lot going on at the zoo but this an experience that's different from most.
Joel Chirinos
Had an amazing time here. Even despite the rainy cloudy weather we got to see a lot that the zoo has to offer. The inside exhibits were amazing too. Definitely a fun date out or a good family trip.
Kristin Kachmar
This was a nice zoo. We spent about 4 hours and were able to see the entire thing. There are lots of trees so it wasn't too much sun. My only complaint is that the exhibits are tucked away so there is a lot of walking and not a lot to look at but the trees. The animals have large exhibits and the Docent we spoke with was FANTASTIC. If you go, women, definitely use the bathroom by the bears.
Lori G
Beautiful zoo! Not huge, but great enclosures for the animals and so pretty! The staff were all super friendly and knowledgeable about the animals. Even the landscaping crew were smiling and friendly. I will definitely go back.
TJ Pretti
Very clean. Massive playground with a coffee and ice cream shop at the top. Order Affogato off the secret menu.
Irma Lowe
Exceptional! The gardens are beautiful, the animals in excellent condition and seeing a clouded leopard, incredible!
Fred Heinrichs
Got there later than planned, so we did not get to see all that there is to see. A lot of the animals were active, which was nice. A couple of areas were closed for remodel. The best part was the kangaroos where you can get right next to them. They are not the full grown. Very cool
Stephanie Alvarez
Love the zoo ! They have an amazing playground where the kids can play for hoursss. They have a couple of exhibits closed but its okay- theyre expanding the zoo and adding to it’s fun. 🤗 …
Michael Howse
The Zoolumination display was great. Looking forward to seeing this display again.
Faith Walker
Very nice zoo! Lots of animals, they were all out where we could see them, loved the animal encounters that were included! Will definitely go back!
Beka N.
Several years later, kids still love it. Playground area is a nice addition for a zoo to have. A few animals were unavailable since it was cold & concession stands were all closed but the admission was 1/2 off because of it too. Overall, had a great time.
jon pounders
Me and my family truly enjoyed this zoo. It was clean and not so big that you feel like you need a vacation after trying to rush through it all. I would have given 5 stars if the staff was a little more friendly.
Shannon P
I had fun I love the birds. I'm not good with crowds to many people.
Bryan Jones
Decent zoo, better than it was years ago when I went. They are still growing, and a younger zoo compared to others like Memphis and St Louis. One suggestion would be to put up a sign for the new vets office, because so many people, including us, walked up to it thinking we were going to see the Giraffes. I feel that it's reasonable in pricing, and the staff was friendly.
J
Zoolumination was amazing. Wonderful food options, helpful staff, great signage with suggestive paths to see everything. Highly recommend.
Andrew Montgomery
Went to Zoolumination with my wife and two kids and close friends. The overall experience and ambiance was pleasant. However during our time we misplaced our daughters stuffed horse she goes to sleep with every night. The Zoo staff was not helpful. They defaulted to saying it wouldn’t be until the next day for us to check their lost and found. At one point one staff member told my wife they saw it but didn’t give any other details. I at one point even asked their front gate keeper to ask over their radio for it and only the “team leads” have radios and they said they hadn’t heard of anything regarding a stuffed horse.
Katelyn Rhodes
It was a blast!! I have a 2.5 and 1.5 year old and they had so much fun we didn't even go to the trick or treating part!! They had a blow up bounce house the merry go round was spookily decorated. They had food drinks (even adult beverages) souvenirs and even pumpkins for sale!! Such a great time!!
Susan cruz-solis
The zoo has changed so much in 10 yrs. It'd so very beautiful and always a nice treat to visit with the kiddos
Wesley Bland
Went to the Chinese Lanterns and had a great time with the family. The lights were beautiful!
Michelle Lovell
Beautiful 😍 7/17/22 if I recall correctly. The Adean Bear bathing in the waterfall to cool off and The Joey's were absolutely exquisite...
Shannon Barnes
Small zoo but a very nice zoo. Great animal displays. Make sure to purchase tickets prior yo going. We will be purchasing season tickets for sure. Lots of great events held there also. Definitely should go!
Andrew Patterson (TehRealMonkeyjelly)
I like this zoo better than the Chattanooga zoo the last time we went it was very underwhelming, but this one was a lot better and bigger. This one had an animal show, a lot of different animals, a veterinarian hospital and it had the farm house tours which everything began at. I like it. I would go again in the future. And I recommend going in the mornings before more people come in the zoo. Also bring water because it's expensive it's around $3.50 for bottled water.
Zackeria Haddaway
Started with a backstage tour: Rise and shine with rhinos. In the words of my son "Worth it!" Learning and scratching a rhino. Then on to normal admission with some Dino Trek added in.
Brittany Dickson
We went on a cold weekday and several of the animals didn’t want to head out on exhibit. Even with that, the zoo was a great experience. The animals were really well taken care of and seemed happy to be there. We were there around feeding time and you could see the bond the big cats had with their keepers. The zookeepers were very friendly and informative about the animals they were caring for.
Sharlot Leigha
We had so much fun on our mini vacay at the Nashville zoo. I love how open everything was it felt like the animals had their own space to roam free unlike other zoos where they are in small enclosures. We will definitely make this a family spot to visit.
Megan
One of the best zoo I have been too! It took us 4 hours to go through it to look at everything. There is definitely something for everyone and it is worth the price. My daughter loved it.
Chris Michelier
Great zoo. Dino Trek is great. Lots of very interesting exhibits.
Dave Evans
This is the nicest zoo my family has had the pleasure of visiting. The kangaroo encounter was the highlight of our trip!
FlemingFamilyTribe
Awesome however I did walk the park 3 times before I realized the big animals where up a hill that I thought was a picnic area and the lift ride. So I didn't see the giraffes I was to tired to walk that hill once I figure it out. Didn't see the snakes and frogs birds the line was to long some people didn't have masks on they wasn't 6 feet about so I didn't get in that line. Over all the park is amazing just wish I had a ride up that hill 😂.
Carl Johnson
Good to have a place open to take our 2 year old who loves animals. Every one was abiding to the mask rules. Walkways are one way. All the zoo employees were also cleaning surfaces and doing things correctly. Even the merry-go-round/carousel was cleaned between each ride. Some exhibits closed but it is fall. Lots of walking. Bring a stroller for the kiddos and rent a electric wheelchair from the zoo if you need one.
Kae Zenisek
Always fun. The exhibits are so nice and such a great variety! The gibbons are s9 much fun.
Cassandra Naylor
Amazing!!! What an awesome zoo. Iwe love how the zoo is set up. The grounds are beautiful. The employees are willing to answer any questions you have about the animals. We drove 4 hours and it was definitely worth the drive.
Christopher Pegg
Great Zoo, they're always adding new things. They are currently building a parking garage, so they're limited spaces, so make sure to reserve your spot online. If you're a local and have kids and they love the zoo, get a membership, and you can add unlimited rides to it. It's worth the investment.
Tara Allen 51
Have you checked out the events at the Zoo for adults only? They have 21 & older, "Sip Series" events after hours for a fun date night or GNO. You can also enjoy during the day with family or kids. Their beautiful venue is well-kept and the perfect size for a fun time.
Hayden Hicks
We went for the Zoolumination festival and it was a breath-taking experience. We've been members for a couple years now and I always find something new and interesting at every visit. Also! Kudos to the people directing traffic. It was a big event but they worked really efficiently to make parking as painless as possible.
M Harris
Great zoo and probably one of the best kids playgrounds I’ve ever seen. If you get the membership, get the activities pass. A lot of things cost extra if you don’t have it. Also, the membership does not give you access to zoolumination (night lanterns), which is disappointing.
Cody Bates
First time to this Zoo. Was a little crowded but was an work event day and a zoo event. So expected. Might need more staff watching people though cause some area's were very packed and uncoordinated and people couldn't enter or exit an area. But still had a good time👍 …
SamwichSlice
Lovely place. We saw the chinese lanterns and they were awesome!
Trey
Nashville zoo is always a nice pleasure walk..just remind yourself get online tickets early don't get tickets at zoo and of day of..get them early
Noah Davis
A great zoo! We went when it was freezing cold here so about half of the animals were inside. Completely understandable! The exhibits are very well done. There is a bit of construction going on in the asian animal area. When all the animals are out and every exhibit is open, and it’s also not 20 degrees outside, this zoo turns into one of the best in the country!
Brooke Mast
Love the zoo. The new attractions are great. The kiddos always love the flamingos.
The giraffe and rhino area was closed due to construction.
I do miss the elephants though.
Angela Pepper
My Daughter & I decided to take my Daddy to the Zoo Cause we'd never be here to that one
I grew up in NC ,I took him One Other year On Father's.. Kinda like a traditional thing +🙂
Anyways they don't have a whole lot.. In Asheboro Zoo you could Never See All Of it in A Whole Day!! But there you pretty much can. The Only thing that bothered me was there was So So Many ppl; Since this Epidemic Hit Us..
I guess everybody was finally ready to fill normal again..
Let me tell ya my Favorite Animals
♡♡ I loved the Bears 🐻
There was two of them..you are up close to the Glass is in front Of their Water plus there walking area. I didn't think they could see Us😆Boy I was wrong.. Soon as I said that the bear turned around & looked at my dad Straight in the 👁Eye

They're also was Just One 🐅 tiger & He/ She was Absolutely beautiful & she Couldn't see Us..

Zoo is clean. Animals are healthy and interactive. We loved catching a surgery at the vet clinic and the exhibit where you walk with the kangaroos. Absolutely awesome to get so close to them. We ziplined, and loved the ride! The Gibbons are so entertaining.
Amee Mirksov
Get the membership! It is worth it! We enjoyed Dino Trek, flamingoes and monkeys!

This was out first year going to ZooLumination and we loved it. We took a group of 6 and got there a little later in the evening (three teenagers and 3 adults)(730) just in time to grab a hot cocoa and have mine spiked with peppermint goodness. They do stop serving alcohol at 8pm FYI.
Not sure if it will be an every year thing, but it was exactly the fun we needed this year... we were there until it closed.
I can imagine it being earlier in the event it might be crowded and frustrating with little kiddos and babies, so I'm glad we waited until they were older to attend.

My wife and I decided to take our first trip to the Nashville Zoo, and it was so delightful. Seeing all sorts of endangered species of animals being well taken care of was the best part. The Zoo was laid out very well with the paths only being one way and staff were continuously cleaning. We weren’t able to see all the animals due to it being colder the day we went, but that was to be expected. I’d highly recommend the Nashville Zoo to anyone that loves animals and nature!
David Sean
Our family of 5 has an amazing day! Can’t wait to come back for the Festival of Lights!

The zoo is gorgeous. They obviously take care to give the animals ample space, in appropriate settings, and beautiful walkways between exhibits. My only concern was with the large amount of people not wearing masks and obviously coughing and sneezing right next to us and our kid. If we're getting temperature checked to go out to eat, the zoo could do that too.
Barry Donahue
This place was amazing!
You were able to be so close to the animals & the exhibits are so well done, it was hard to tell you are in a zoo.
The staff's knowledge was excellent.
Our little one loves animals & being so close to so many & watch her excitement was so worth it.
She even got to pet a kangaroo!
Vairalakshmi Vairamani
Very good place to take your kids ..Restrooms and dining benches are provided almost around everywhere in the zoo. Parking fees is 8$ per car and more differently abled parking lots are available near the zoo entrance. The best kid's enjoyed is the zipline where you can see giraffes and rhino from the top and para feeding and kangaroo habitat where we can pet kangaroo and watch it very close. The gift shop is also good.
The jungle gym play area is closed due to covid and some construction was going on. They had animal show for around 20 min and they have unseen world of reptiles.
Anna Nappier
Loved the Zoo. Weather was perfect and some amazing animals! The kangaroo exhibit was amazing. Never expected to get to touch a kangaroo. Amazing! Would definitely recommend it to anybody! Snacks and stuff was over priced, but can carry a cooler in with you. Plenty of places to rest and take a break at. Truly wonderful trip!
Doug Kimber
Not the best Zoo we have been to, however it was still lots of fun. Trails were clean and animals were active. Wasn't too crowded especially being Memorial Day weekend. Kids ages 5-16, all were entertained and had a good time.
Kiel DuPre'
Went to Boo at the Zoo, family had fun and the walk around for trick or treating was fun as well. I will say don’t expect much candy though! Your buckets, pales, and bags won’t be full leaving here.
Note: this event was during the evening, and on a Tuesday, so lines to get in were non-existent.
Heather Funtime
We dud the This is How We Zoo backstage tour and I couldn't stop smiling the whole time! It was very cool learning about the zoo and animals and all that goes on behind the scenes. Feeding the giraffe was the absolute highlight. Getting a selfie with a giraffe will be one of my fav memories forever. Thank to Jessica our guide for an awesome experience!! 20/10 can't wait to do another backstage tour.
elle n
It being cold, some animals were indoor. But still good number are out.
Amy Dalton
I love the the animals had large areas to live in. Although I felt like there wasn’t that many animals. The veterinary clinic didn’t have the baby cubs out and they didn’t give a specific time that they would be back. It was a long walk to the clinic only to be let down. There is also a lot of up hill walking, so if you have any mobility issues I recommend renting a scooter.
Chelsey Elliott
Great zoo!! Was there for 5 hours with 5 kids aging 2-15! The landscaping is great and lots to see. Went on a Wednesday and there wasn’t that many people and easy to get in and out. I love the animals in some of the restrooms! A great zoo for a great price!
Rebekah Stroman
The was nice but they had no elephants.
Terry Messner
I enjoy zoos that present animals in natural looking environments and this one does that for the most part. The Gibbons are the stars of this zoo. Very noisy and fun!
s Vinrn
Awesome zoo. It's huge and so many things to do. You can walk next to kangaroos, virtual zoo keepers and the animals actually are up and moving. Staff was so nice and helpful. I would recommended visiting.
Ming Meyer
The layout of the zoo is well designed, sort of like Africa setting. The path are lined with lots of trees an shrubs that provide shades along the way and the exhibits are delightful with beautiful landscapes. The Animals seemed active and relaxed. I enjoyed strokig the kangaroo, soft to touh, surprisingly. Also saw some action between two cougars stalking the two goats that were outside the fence. It was a nice cool day, all the more enjoyable. Highly recommend.
Madeline Calderon
Loved the new play area,so much fun for the kid's
Patrice Bisasor (Pabi)
Illumination show was so beautiful! Absolutely gorgeous!
Madison Pike
Very nice place fun for all ages lots of animals. Smaller side of zoos but lots of fun. Also not a lot of walking which is very nice. It is also mostly shaded so you are not in the burning sun.
Michael Hayek
Great place to visit. The vet hospital is a must see.
Manish Arora
Great place to visit with kids. Amazing atmosphere

At the Zoo yesterday, 12-28-2022 on the first tour of the Grassmere home. Julianna was the tour guide, she did an excellent job!! She had some very young ones asking great questions she was so patient and kind. Really enjoyed the tour. Thank you, Julianna!

Its an ok zoo. Animals are quite a distance away but i reckon that's best for them. (Never been anywhere that the farm animals are 2 fences away, though)
Disappointed in how many things were "closed for repairs"...it was a lot
Alissa Dodson
I enjoyed seeing the animals and the zoo was very clean. The only issue I have is that almost all of the attractions for the adventure pass were either closed for repair or so full and crowded that they weren't worth waiting for or for children. I wish I would've known that the attractions I wanted to see were closed so I didn't have to waste $21 for nothing. It should be posted on the website. Just hope my money goes to something useful for the animals. Costed $80 for 2 adult tickets ($24 each) 2 adventure passes ($11 each), and parking ($8) with taxes.
Shawn McBrien
Great zoo, very unique set up. Veterans/military, purchase tickets at the gate, can't get the veterans/military tickets online. Lots of construction going on for new animal area's.
Rachel Varnell
Went for the zoo run run. First time for that, been a while since been to the zoo in general. I'm sure the parking construction is a headache now, but will be great. They go all out for the 5k, though and we were talking about "next year" before even running it! New jungle gym and cool to see animals, etc before the race! I will say for the 5k it is cramped. They have "start corals" for timed and untimed but really should stagger even more - people were basically running over each other for the first .5 mile plus simply because the size of the sidewalk didn't allow for many people next to each other! Always enjoy the zoo itself when we do go though!
Norman Reed
It was EXCELLENT!!! We went on my birthday, as a surprise from my wife, to see the golopagos tortoises, but they were inside due to the cool weather. The indoor reptile habitats were excellent, as well!!! We're going back when it gets warmer.
Andrew Clouse
My wife and I just visited the Nashville Zoo during their reopening from quarantine and had a great time. I just realized I never left a review for this amazing place either, so I’m finally doing that here! We’ve been members of the zoo for years and have both been coming here even as kids. The growth we’ve seen in this place has been amazing to watch over the years as well. Whenever we visit it always brings back memories from fun times and there’s always something new to see no matter how many times you visit here. The animals seem to have the highest quality care they could ask for and the keepers are always eager to educate and speak about the animals in their care, too. We love coming here as often as we can and highly recommend you visit at least once whether you’re from out of town and just looking for something to spend your day doing or you’ve lived here for a while and just never got around to coming yet.
Greg Coley
Visited the Friday before a holiday, with a high of 34. Hardly anyone else in the park, which made it easy to get around and see all the exhibits.
Also, the playground area is awesome for the kids.
Sunshine Bentley
Loved the fact the animals were in natural habitats.
Rick Young
Brought the family 11/26/22 we all had a great time first here. My grandkids had the best time at the jungle gym area with the big slide. Only concern there was this family running around playing tag or something I'm talking adults here my age and younger. The concern I have is what if one of these yahoo's smash into a small kid and hurt them then what? No security anywhere, these knuckleheads should have been bounced out the door. SECURITY AND SAFETY FIRST.
Aaron Boone
Very well played out and flows. The entire park is very clean. You can tell they put a lot of effort and money into the exhibits. Best zoo I've been to so far. The kids really enjoyed it. Lines for food can be long but you can bring in your bag snacks and waters easily.
Carlos Bolaños
Totally love it... beautiful animals you can see how good they are because they look healthy, I like the kangaroo area where you can be able to touch them, definitely worth it...
Michelle Jones
Boo at the Zoo is wonderful family fun! Shows and a trick-or-treat path are always so much fun.
MAMA WRIGHT
We had a lot of fun even though it was 95 degrees outside and the rain had started so we wasn’t able to ride the Zipline because they closed it down. But we will return another day and do more.
Out Standing in a field
A very nice zoo. The bamboo Forrest is kind of cool as are the indoor exhibits. Very cheap entrance fee and a lot of space to roam.
Highly recommended.
Crystal Brewington
I went to the zoo today with a group of 10 (7kids & 3adults). I was very happy with the way they had barriers up to have people coming or going a certain way. Also everyone waa wearing a mask & they had hand sanitation stations everywhere. It also wasn't packed like it usually is. We had a great time!
Thad Beckman
Nice cozy zoo. Really nicely spread out. Animals look like they are really taken of. Would definitely recommend visiting if you are in Nashville. Bonus for Friday's have a Kroger card buy one admission get one free. Would say stay for 4 or 5 hours and take it all in.
David Whittinghill
My family and I really enjoyed this zoo. It was designed so that you are in the shade a lot of the time. Plenty of places to sit down and relax.
Phil Hitson
First time at this zoo. The lighting displays were colorful and bright. They were also everywhere. The kids enjoyed themselves. Did not see a lot of animals, but really came to see the lights.
Tina Whyte
For my first zoo trip I wasn't impressed! Due to covid-19 alot of things were closed, only taking cards no cash! Masks were being worn and safety guidelines were followed. Overpriced for all the stuff we didn't get to experience. We liked the kangaroo best. It was a rainy day. Seems like they'd take better care of maintenance issues too. Oh yeah there are monkeys in the girls bathroom by the bears. No sign.
Krystal White
We always love our visits to the zoo!! We have had a membership for years and will continue to! Today we found out they just got a male tiger (currently in quarantine) but they are going to try to mate it with the female to make a tiger cub 🤗 …
Captain's Wife Log
This is a beautiful, clean and well maintain zoo. It has very attractive enclosures and great landscapes. It has a rope bridge over a river which is a lot of fun. They have areas for petting animals, including a kangaroo petting zone. A kangaroo petting area is something I hadn't seen before. It is a great place to take the kids or for adults that want to go for a walk and enjoy nature.
Ashley B
It's been a long time since I've been to the zoo! It was a wonderful experience and my kid had a blast. It's a great day of fun for the family.
Erika Kleinfelt
So much fun. My kids love going
Many Rainbows
Always fun. Sadly several animals were off exhibit, either due to the cool weather, or due to the construction going on. But even with that in mind, it was a great day and I plan to buy a membership in the future.
Gypsy Woman (TATERS MOMMY)
Everything from snakes to monkeys. Even face painting. Best family outing in a long time. A much needed mini vaca from the covid restrictions and daily stress. We had an amazing time. Even though there's a lot of walking involved it was so relaxing. Great place for the entire family. Will most definitely be returning.
linda mays
Incredibly beautiful Chinese lanterns throughout the entire zoo. They go on and on....dress warm with comfortable walking shoes and you will have a wonderful time.
BatgirlGamer
The Chinese New Year light show was really cool. The parking lot attendants did a great job guiding the packed crowd. The only disappointment was the grand finale light area going out (i think the generators ran out of gas lol). I really wanted to see the dragon entrance lit up.
Steve Morgan
Christmas At the Zoo. Chinese Lanterns are there. EXCELLENT!
macy_ann
Loved the experience! Very clean facility with lots of happy animals and a variety of plant life. The Lorikeets were my favorite :)
Julie Farias
It was very nice but to hot to see the big animals out:/
Kids had a blast. All food was open. Q3+ mask required.
K Smith
A pretty nice zoo. I expected a few more animals, but it could be that we missed them. We didn't see any elephants or lions, but they had THE MOST GORGEOUS flamingoes I have ever seen in person in my life!!! They were so colorful! I have added a few pictures of them, but they don't do them justice. They also had an area with kangaroos where you could go in and pet them! There were even 7 Joey's there as well!
It did seem like there was a lot of walking area between exhibits, where you just see trees or bamboo.
Kea L.
Wasn’t a crowd at all. The animals all seem like they are out and happy. The kangaroo exhibit is pretty cool they jump all around and past you. You can also touch them if they come near you willingly.
John Brex
Took my family to the zoo, we had a great time. There is. Huge variety of animals here. We went in December and all the animals were out and about jumping around and having a good time. They seemed very happy and well cared for.
Christina Willard
A small.zoo that had a lovely carousel and a zip line. I enjoyed walking around and seeing the animals. Saw some giraffes and a few birds at a closer distance. Other animals stayed farther out of sight.
Ricky Valero
The covid precautions are amazing, one way around, and staff around to make sure everyone is following the directions.
Went to see the Corpse Flower and my goodness it was beautiful. Just super cool.
The zoo is solid, friendly staff and some beautiful Flamingos!!!!
Kim Dallas
Everything was really nice and the place was clean. The flamingo exhibit was awesome
Zichao Yang
Nashville Zoo is a great destination for families and animal lovers. The zoo is well-maintained and features a variety of interesting animals from around the world. The exhibits are well-designed, and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The only drawback is that the admission price is a little high. Overall, Nashville Zoo is a great place to spend an afternoon, and I give it 4 stars.
Spencer Goldade
This is a gorgeous, really well designed zoo. We strongly recommend it if you have kids or care about the welfare of animals in captivity.
Where we had trouble was with some of the narrative surrounding its history and how it was presented.
It's no secret that the zoo moved to this location after a historic family sold it. You can see plaques all over one area talking about how slaves were "needed," for the original farm to run. A few years ago, in 2014, many of the slaves graves had to be relocated. You would think this would be a good opportunity to show these people more respect, but instead they received regular stones as grave markers instead of any identifying or anything more presentable. Meanwhile, the "masters" still have an elaborate graveyard, filled with obelisks and nicely carved markers.
Why not something to honour these nameless slaves who built and ran this farm? And why not a more suitable narrative surrounding them, the family that owned the land, and the farm's history? It felt as though the narrative here was okay with and sympathized with these slave owners.
We were glad that the historic home estate was the last part of the zoo we saw, because the rest was absolutely lovely and still very much recommended.
Emily Clay
The Nashville Zoo has long been a great example of its kind, with memberships being a particularly good value. The winter, evening, ticketed event, "Zoolumination," was beautiful and expansive. I would return every few years, given the opportunity.
Kristen Rivera
Very well maintained zoo.
We came later afternoon after 1 (no children) and was able to see the entire zoo in a few hours.
With covid accomodations definitely recommend buying tickets online for a time slot to start the visit. Saves time and ensures they won't be sold out. Experience has you walking the zoo in a one direction loop.
Keep in mind (at least when we were there) many food stalls were closed, limited animals in each display (covid related?), and some places were closed altogether.
Overall an enjoyable afternoon. Lots of staff at displays for safety purposes and to answer questions.
Some of the animals seemed to get fed/enrichment around 3 so we got to see the red panda and a few other critters eating.
*They were having boo at the zoo after 5pm so there were lots of fun decor/displays*
Samantha Rice
We took our little guy for his 3rd birthday! Such a great zoo even during a pandemic we had a blast! Masks are to be worn and social distancing is practiced on the busy exhibits which can cause a little bit of a wait but well worth it! We will be back again!
Vanessa Thome
Great zoo to visit. Wonderful place to just take a walk.
Brett Warbrick
I think this Zoo is nearly perfect for a medium sized Zoo. It has quite a number of hands on experiences and most of the exhibits enable up close view I g of the animals. All in all it was a great day out especially for our 3yo boy. We finished the day with an hour in the extensive playground.
Sara Brady
The ambassador animal show and the guinea pigs were the highlights of my visit! Every employee I worked with was extremely friendly and helpful. My only suggestion would be to space out the entrance area or limit the number of folks checking in at once. Other than the bottle neck at the entrance, the pandemic procedures are great!
Joseph Haggard-Reeves
This is an amazing place to go with you and your family and friends!
Eric Coon
My family absolutely love the Zoo. And this one was placed in the ranks of our favorites. It is VERY FAMILY friendly. They have a petting Zoo area for the children (I'm almost 50 and I loved it). The Zoo staff was so interactive. Many stopped to answer questions. One even invited us to sit down for a few minutes and talk about the history of the zoo. We stopped to watch the animal show and to our surprise got picked to interact with the show. If you go and enjoy history as well don't miss the tour of the home where the zoo begin.
Tricia Roark
Phenomenal playground! Good interactive map.
Cuban Connection
Lots of space for children to play, great variety of animals but some are still missing, don’t see yet lions and elephants, but the outsides are stunning.
The Senpai King
Are you looking for a place to take your younglings? What about going out with a couple of buddies? How about enjoying a day out with family and such? Due to it being the cold winter months, some of the animals only come out if it's sunny outside. Even then, it's subjective at best. However, during the summer and more warmer months, you'll be seeing more animals out and about.
If you love to see animals of any kind, this is go to place. I recommend coming here.
J L
Bought tickets in advance for 5 adults at $19 each and it also went ahead and added parking for $8. There was no one to collect payment for parking or to check for prepaid parking so we were charged an additional $8 for no reason. It took us about 2 hours to go through and there were a TON of lights. There were traditional lights as well as asurion lights. You could still walk through the amphibian exhibit. The hot chocolate was $7 in a 16oz souvenir mug with $2 refills. The hot chocolated tasted very watered down.
Adam Scott
The Nashville Zoo is excellent. I give it thought out of five stars because it seems to permanently be under construction, but the exhibits really are excellent. The reptile house is amazing, the safari loop is good, but ironically, it is the kids park that takes top shelf for my kids. I have yep teenagers and twins under 10 and they all four could and do play at the park for hours. It's simply massive. Think a large public park with playground and double it.
Mickey Ewing
We had the BEST time! Gorgeous! #zoolumination
Gloria Turner
Went and visited the zoo today and have to share there are a few new things going on. I purchased my tickets online ahead of time which you must do before you go. Be prepared! They ask that you wear a mask while you are there. If you arrive and don't have one they sell them at the entrance. Kids are$8 and I think adults are double. The maps are now ready for you to download and paths are one way. The employees are cleaning after those that ride the eagle ride. Some exhibits are closed but they don't take away from the great time you'll have🙂
Joshua A.E.W. Allen
For an outdoor zoo, it had a surprising abundance of shade, which made for a very pleasant experience on a hot day. My wife and I, along with our daughters (ages 2 and 5), very much enjoyed our visit.
Osgood Jeremy
We need more people to care about nature than ever. Nashville zoo provides a vital connection.
Mandi Hale
Amazing zoo, fun for all ages. Exhibits are huge and comfy for all the animals. You can visit the veterinarian center, educational topics and shoes each day, great feature for a zoo. Friendly staff. Great food and reasonably priced.
Turbulant Soup
Went to see Zoo Illumination. Sunday night about 7pm. It was a nice night, not too crowded. Lights were fantastic and you'd be hard pressed to leave without having been educated at least a little...
J Miles
This was a great zoo. There were a variety animal exhibits with interesting bits of information. There was a lot of shade, and they mixed music, foliage and facilities throughout the zoo to pull into the exhibits. Stop by the Veterinarian Hospital, because it had great viewing windows. They mixed the zoo with restrooms, places to refresh, and other activities that keep the kids engaged. We especially enjoyed the hands-on in the Aviary, by the kangaroos, and the farm. One last thing that cannot be over emphasized is the play area. It was huge. It gave our kids an awesome workout at the end of a 3- hour trek through the zoo.
Steve Engle
Had a great time with my family at the zoo! For six of us the total cost was $104 (5 adults, 1 child, and parking). They allow you to bring in your own food and drinks as well if you want. The layout of the walkways is very good and much of the walking/viewing areas are shaded which is nice on hot days. There are also some indoor exhibits which are air conditioned. The animals were great with new exhibits being made. As you might expect, there is a fair amount of walking so comfortable shoes are recommended. There are also places to eat in the zoo but they are a bit pricey in my opinion. Check out the zoo's website for more.
