Reviews of Little Tokyo
Christian Kolb
My boys loved this area of town, but just not for me. The area around here is not exactly nice, but there was a parking garage near the area of that we went that has most of the shops, and the merchants do validate your tickets. Currently the shops have lines to go in due to limitations on number of people in the stores, so be prepared for a wait. Also, the stores are very much like the stores in many Asian countries, no real sense of order, packed with things all over the place. Almost makes it a game to try and find what you are looking for.
My oldest got a strawberry cream pastry at one shop. He loved it. So the pastries were a hit.
Andy Valdez
This is a cool spot. Lots of interesting things to see and it's like you hit a worm hole and suddenly are in a small section of tokyo. My wife has been to Japan several times growing up and she said this is true to the culture.
Rubine Red C
Too much culture, delicious food, nice spots, good graphic design. You can find very taste places for eat and drink buba tea.
Long Mac
Maybe it's the fact that I don't go out much in general; I just enjoyed so much walking around with my kid at Little Tokyo. Actually was able to be a tourist and enjoy what was there. Particular to Tiger Sugar and Somi Somi. We also bought a squishmallow for his sister for her birthday 🎉🎂🎉🎂🎉. It's nice to see people walking about n around. I finally get to appreciate people and socializing.
Ann Kerr
Lots of sites to take in. Try some stores and food. Check out the bit of history on the sidewalks as you are strolling through the area. We walked from Chinatown, past Union Station and the Federal building. That way we only had to pay to park once. It was a little sketchy. I do not recommend that walk in the dark.
Lex Wells
I enjoy the atmosphere and shopping here, but you’re basically out of luck if you need to use the bathroom. They have one Starbucks they direct everyone to, and that bathroom had no toilet paper. It definitely needs more public restrooms.
Dan Roman
Little Tokyo has amazing restaurants museum and also many Japanese markets toy stores and all things Japanese. I highly recommend visiting this place also parking is available everywhere and later on many free parking spots.
Frank Tucker
The atmosphere and stores are fantastic. We had a short layover and this is the one place we picked because of the uniqueness of the village. The shops are fun, plentiful and close by. The food is terrible. I think had we ate other than the village, the experience would have been different. I suspect it was the most touristy area so the food... Well, touristy and not so authentic. Go right outside the village and you will see many restaurants lining the street that will likely give you a better experience as evident by the yelp reviews. We literally went to the restaurant with the longest line thinking it had to be the best. We should have read the reviews because they were accurate. The bakery, coffee shop and little bites here and there were pretty fun eating though not great.
Josie Dupire
Very cool! If you want to go to the museum, be advised; it's closed Mondays. Lots of delicious food and other small shops, though.
Carlos
Fantastic little Tokyo town with all sorts you normally find only in Japan, I really love the Japanese supermarket, which has literally everything you can dream off. Oronami c and even natto
E T
Delightful street of shops selling everything from Japanese food, groceries, desserts, anime/manga etc.
Don't forget to check out the memorial garden across the street.
Faustino Facundo
Many places to go,anime, manga, restaurants, hotels, 🍨 dessert, markets, clothes etc... full recommended 👌
Raul Martinez
My neighborhood, I love it during the day. At night time and during weekends it gets very busy and overcrowded 😞. So much that People leave their trash anywhere they can. Parking is very tight in the area. The morning after looks like a parade just finished. Streets looking filthy. The city and local business need to do much more on the upkeep.
Have to love the place lots of local family owned businesses that have been here for years. Some that I have frequented for over 30yrs and many new ones. It is the place to be!
Joe Gomez
Definitely a cultural centerpiece in downtown LA great food great venues museums arts people cost of living is not too high and everyone is very nice and the ladies are very very nice lots to see here come check them all out
Siamak Lorestani
Lots of fun places to visit and eat at. Always a good time
josh kim
Went on new years day, temple is packed.
They did service so we had to wait in line for an hour.
Leslie Loves
I went for a walk on new year’s. Tons of people but they are interesting people to look at (fashions on point) so, i didn’t mind. Lots of cute eateries and shops. Affordable souvenirs and tasty food 🍱.
Andrew B.
I'm happy this place is busy on weekends again so the stores are thriving a bit more than the past 2 years. It's a great place to just walk around and grab something to eat on weekends.
Alina Zhang
White lanterns definitely surprised me. Sweets are good here.
Tomie Tomie
Beautiful place to go to! There are plenty of things to buy or look at and the food is amazing. Usually gets crowded during the weekends so I recommend going during the weekdays.
Mitva Shah
Had a great time in little Tokyo LA where they really had so many shops and restaurants that embraced the culture. I found so many toys, stationary, pins, and apparel from the culture that speaks to the culture. These shops were a great adventure.
Hien Bui
A lot of good places to eat! Many places to try different snacks. awesome place to buy people gifts. Very populated and festive on weekends so beware.
License2Diva
We really missed Little Tokyo and had to drive up for the day/night. We were so glad to see some of the restaurants open with seating outside and distanced; but, the wait was a little long.
We always go on the weekends when street parking is free otherwise, parking gets costly during the week. Once you do park and walk through the alleys, you'll see all the beautiful painted murals.
Ignas Kirkila
Love to come here and explore all the cool shops and great food. Very fun experience, although try to come earlier as a lot of places close a little earlier in the evening.
Lourdes
Cute mindfulness signs, amazing stores endless memories. Please purchase from those stores. Just like all those small businesses are having issues these are unique stores with a cultural heritage. I could have safe some money but $1.99 or $2.99 to support my local stores it worth it to keep those stores in business. Please let give them the support they need. Buy local.
Anita T
The atmosphere is so nice. There are tons of food options & cute stores. It was just nice to sit by the fountain & relax.
Mykolas Masiukas
Great neighbourhood for those wanting a taste of Japan
Danni Lu
So pretty, great place to hang out
Ed Vides
Depending on time it's either a crowded nightmare or and empty wonderland. Good food depending on what type of Japanese food you want and plenty of shops for us otakus
Dave A.
Lots of fun stores and good food, but parking is always a bit pricey. A little dirty here and there too. Avoid the area after dark.
Yarizza Campa
Little Tokyo was a new experience. Friendly and polite people there and I was satisfied. Small area but worth it.
Rubi Garduno
I love Little Tokyo, many japanese foods and snacks to enjoy & japanese imports to buy. Great for families to visit or dates or just by yourself, its really nice, especially in the evening because the lights glow.
I hate that I don't remember all the store names though or I would give them each a review. I only remember Fugetsu Do, they make cute japanese sweets and have a lot to choose from in their little store. I'd recommend trying a little treat from them.
Spending here does add up quickly so don't try to buy everything at once, I'll go for dinner or lunch one day, snacks on another visit and to buy gifts on another. Lol
Also look around before you settle on buying something, I saw the exact same stuffed animal at $24 in one store and down the way it was $14 in another shop so keep this in mind...
Edgar Zepeda
I LOVE Little Tokyo. the shops and restaurants are amazing. the atmosphere is lively and colorful. it really makes you feel like you were transported into the heart of Tokyo. there's so much to do and so much to see. you'd be a fool not to come see this place, especially at night when its lit up. make sure to validate your ticket 👌 …
James Huang
Wonderful area with many things to do and tons of tiny shops selling a wide array of things. Obviously you can expect a lot of Japanese culture around here but that is the cool thing about all these shops as you do not know what to expect to see. Great for couples and dates to walk around and just kill sometime and enjoy the day
Kirk Pearson
I wish I had known that they had certain shops closed on Tuesdays but all in all it was a neat place to visit. My youngest was so happy to see so many unique Japanese gifts and shops. The food was good and the ambiance inviting.
Ahmad Amine
Extremely elegant town in the middle of Los Angeles. In the hustle and bustle of the huge city, you wouldn't expect to walk into a corner piece from the heart of Japan. The architecture, the people and the food and goods are all japanese in roots. It's much better than the Chinatown here in LA and even better appealing than the Chinatown in San Francisco! Came back for another visit the very next day. A must see when you come to LA.
Jack Vega
Hate that street parking is so expensive and a lot of business either don't validate or require s purchase minimum to validate parking. All in all it's a great place to hang out and grab some very delicious food.
Cristina Sanchez Cereceda
A very beautiful area filled with authentic Japanese cuisine and stores. Because of COVID there are a few stores that are closed, but it’s a wonderful place to spend a few hours eating delicious food and shopping for cute items
Sally Madera
It's fun to walk through, many choices to eat and plenty of shops to wander in.
Linh Phạm Ngọc Ái (Ivy Phạm)
Crowed place with lots of stores with Japanese’ style stuffs. Great place for Otaku and people who watch anime.
Akm islam
Restaurant Super market and Diaso Japanese 99c store Not exactly 99c start from $1.50 and goes up to $8 to $9 If you never been to Diaso please visit it I am sure love it Asian super Market Great for fresh Veg fruits many varieties Vitamins restaurant Great Experience
Ally Liu
Little cute place for Japan culture experience. Food here is generally original and delicious. Also a few shops open here so it won’t be boring.
Burim Derveni
Such a beautiful place!! Can't wait to go back again. Had a ton of delicious food from the vendors. Plenty to chose from.
Sunny Z
Little Tokyo is always fun to visit, but the parking structure is a mess and we were trapped in the structure for 30 mins in line. Then they still charged everyone, and had the audacity to post a sign saying no free parking.
Mike
I really love it here, I would come here all the time if it wasn't for the traffic. You get lots of food options and fun and unique stores to shop around at.
Arturo R Roque
most shops and restaurants when you buy something will validate your parking ticket
Camille Willoughby
100% my favorite place to go for a day trip. Make sure you check out Kura Sushi, Bae ice cream, fickle wish & Sanrio. Also, the Japanese market is great for bringing home snacks/groceries.
William Liu
My friends went crazy when they saw there's a Sario store here. Overall this place gave a good vibe with many Japanese décor. The prices for most items in stores were reasonable. Too bad that the lines for few of the ramen restaurants were way too long and we didn't want to wait.
Sandip Hodkhasa
This is a very nice small village which is called Little Tokyo there are a lot of small touristy spots shop or shopping and tons of restaurants they have amazing sushi amazing ramen and amazing food.
Aaron A
So many amazing restaurants, fun shops, and a great atmosphere. If you can go on a weekday it is not that busy and a great time to come.
Richard “Rick” Kreis
We had the sushi and sashimi combo and it was delicious. We also had a Jessica roll with tempura inside. All was excellent. Great service too!!
Omar Gonzalez
I had a good time here. They have some really good restaurants and surprisingly the area is very clean.
Paul Findley
Very quaint little spot. I go to the excellent market there but the restaurants and bakery look wonderful.
Cecilia Li
Besides the overpriced souvenirs, you are able to find a bunch of Japanese skin care products and cosmetics. Be careful shopping there, you might go savage spending too much money on those. Lol.
Alex Figueroa
Very nice place to take a walk surprised to bars now there and a lot security guards much better than 10 years ago
October Hertenstein
One of my favorite parts of LA. Charming, and the food is so good! I love shopping around here
Phu Cao
First time we are in Little Tokyo and we do like it: Area is nice and clean, people are peace full, and the Ramen noodle is fantastics (Warn: The line to get in the restaurant is way too long, but it is worth when you taste the noddles as we ordered in the picture. Paid parking is Ok and available. Come back soon.
Kat Lisek
Very beautiful place, calm and nice. Shops there are amazing. For me it's the best part of whole town. And We had so amazing vegan donuts there ❤️
Abhishek Shankar
Wonderful places to visit. Malls, eateries, anime shops and old (retro) video games! If you are visiting LA, this is a must visit place.
Nick Xie
How have I not heard more about this place? It's super cute and a definite visit if spending any time in DTLA. Best around sunset time
Roy Allard
Pretty cool joint. Lots to see and try. Japangeles and Mokuyobi were both really cool to see. Also went the Moca museum.
Edward Teitel
It’s a short walk from Union Station. Tons of great Japanese restaurants and specialty shops for manga and Japanese toys.
Z Jeff
Good food, good shopping, good feeling. The Little Tokyo may be not the really Japanese style, but it really worth a look ,while you travel to Los Angeles!
Daniel Hernandez
Very cute, very clean, all Japanese and restaurants everywhere. Gift shops are common and you can buy anything anime related here (obviously). Be warned if you need a bathroom in a restaurant they are reserved only for customers. Beyond that it's an a very nice calm place to walk around and an obvious tourist destination. No shade though. Overall it's good you should go
Llorito Castanares Todd
Always a good time and good shopping down here. I wish I lived closer to here.
Ricardo Cota

wintermintleaf
very good food and souvenirs to get here. there were these lovely drinks around at a store with little apple bits in them, i forgot the name (so sorry) but if you search around you might find it?
Fox Ramirez
Always a good spot to hang out and meet new people. They have great spots for lunch, dinner, snacks and everything in between. The bakery over here is interesting and always has some good stuff to try (i recommend the strawberry stuff), They have a really cool retro gaming store here as well as an anime/manga store. They also have a variety of gift shops, we could window shop all day here.
Alex Vasquez
Lots of shops and restaurants. Busy on the weekends and it's generally a fun spot wander about.
Yuri Rangel
There's variety of goods. From anime to food stores abd restaurants. My kids love to shop at the market, where you find so many unique combos.
R Lujan
So many stores with unique merchandise. Lots of restaurants...

A Must Visit Place in LA downtown
Wonderful little town in the heart of L.A. downtown. Truly wonderful place to eat, shop or visit if you want to experience some Japanese culture.
A must place for me and I am feeling very comfortable to suggest this place to anyone.
Love all the restaurants and shops in the Japanese Village Plaza.
Robert E. Lacey
This place is off of 2nd Street called little JAPAN with a whole different vibe lots of open-air stores and coffee ☕ shops to choose from try it out.....
Kaz M
Please check the event calendar on Rafu Shimpo and Cultural News. My fav time is the new year (Jan 1), Tanabata to Nisei week (July n August). So much history and warmth in this district. We need to continue to fight against the #gentrification and we need to support old school businesses like Mitsuru cafes, Blooming Art Gallery etc.
spiceywolfe
Super fun place to visit. Reminded me a lot of akihabara when I visited Japan. Lots of neat shops and restaurants.
Dale Santos
I go there regularly to shop! Great place!
Steven Lindsay
The general area of Little Tokyo is nice, however, there is a lot of homeless people camped around the area. The smell of urine is not a welcoming smell to walk through. Most of the restaurants serve suchi. If you don't have a taste for it, you're in trouble. I did experience some racism there. Some shops act like they didn't want to serve me. Not very friendly. It's interesting to note, I visited the Japanese American Museum. I saw the articles of how the Japanese people were discriminated against by the white man. They in turn showed me that they are not very welcoming to Afro-Americans. So sad.
Rome C
Lots of wonderful shops and small specialty eateries to spend a day exploring, shopping and eating. Sometimes it gets busy enough that there may be a short wait to enter a store as they do a good job in maintaining social distancing in the stores. There are also a couple of gardens around town, but have not been able to see them yet.
Irene “Blue” Johnson
I enjoy coming to Little Tokyo, I find something new every time I venture there. I recommend it to anyone interested in Japanese culture
simon lackner
Some japanese shops and restaurants as well as a small super market. Worth a visit if you are close but not very special.
Elio Escalante
You have many Japanese restaurants options , stores and a little supermarket to buy everything you need to prepare Japanese dishes.
Mohammed Hourani
Got Takoyaki it was takoyummy, if you don't mind the parking lot costing 3 dollars every 15 minutes then I would say check out little Tokyo in Los Angeles when you get the chance, honestly I came out a different man. I feel so connected to the Asians. I feel like I am one now. Kimono desu, cosplay, takoyaki, Chinese new year, these are all things us Asians love desu 😲
Mark Hatcher
vero nice place and great atmosphere and a lot of fun to be there shops are clean really nice place.
Lissette Bencosme
Love it here! I go almost every other week. Delicious food and great atmosphere to experience some Japanese culture
Ilona Malygin
This place has a very charming atmosphere and such a good idea to go on a date, love it, Honey ice cream and the store across the street are must try!
James Han
Usually I visit Dulce coffee shop, and bakery in the morning.
Try red bean bun or vegetable bun at bakery, always hot and delicious.
Also try any coffe at dulce coffee shop, very rich and good tasty.
Jodie Weber
This place was super cool! Lost of anime shops, neat stores with Nick knacks and lots of food
Sandy Sidoti
Loved the little shops and cafe dolche... best bakery and sandwich.
Juma Nyumba
Nice place to hangout. Lots of food and drink options. Also shops and cute stores with clothes, toys, etc..
Parking lots around saw since for 3 bucks but find metered parking if you're lucky too.
Most places require masks.
No public bathrooms.
Even stores don't have.
RICDLE
I love this place, wonderful spot to hang out by yourself or with friends would absolutely recommend eating sushi there :)
Patrick English
Understand that it's a tourist attraction up front and you will enjoy it more. Pricey little shops and eateries but they do have authentic foods and products. Also be aware that public restrooms are nonexistent in the entire Japan town area.
Risknc (risknc)
My favorite place for food and shopping in LA. A little microcosm of culture and entertainment.
DjJUICE RobG
Lots of places but very unorganized, very chaotic , seemed as if restaurants couldn't handle the business that day
Danny-15-
I was told this was the closest to Japan! Ha! But honestly I liked everything about here, the aesthetic of everywhere you look. The karaoke was the best part props to the ones that got up to sing!
kats Jessie Lar
Always loved going to little to little Tokyo but it's getting over ran by Koreans which screw up everything they need to stay with their own kind. And for the food you know it does not taste like real Japanese food, I love Korean food. But I don't like the fact that they're moving in to little Tokyo
E A
nice place to hang out and buy if you're an anime person/video game person! or just like reading manga.
Patricia Contreras
So fun. It’s expensive though because it’s all imported. Definitely a great experience. We tried the bakery and noodles and were excellent.
E S
So scenic ! Awesome shopping & better food.
Tungesh Kapil
Great food options and Japanese goods to purchase. Overall a great atmosphere especially with the foot traffic and lack of cars around - makes it more enjoyable to explore.
Deep Chatterjee
Unique experience. I don't know how authentic it is since I've not been to Tokyo, but I enjoyed spending an hour walking around, checking out the shops. There was this place selling freshly made red bean cake for 2 bucks. Loved it with my coffee.
evaristo martinez
Really ko architecture and shops, kids loved it.
Vance
Love this place - all the little shops, restaurants and the museums!
jo cho
No strong culture elements, just stores...can have some music or play some Japanese video movies
Eddie Boyer

Nhan N
Very nice place with many small shops to hangout
Liz Diaz

Sarah
Love little Tokyo. It’s a must for me.
Walk around, take pictures, have food, and enjoy a good time.
Vicky T
The entrance is free but you have to pay for parking ticket. It was crowded on Sunday. Must have reservation
L. P
If your looking for some Japanese time ambience with your 7 year old kid, this is the place. My kid loves Japanese series and he said he wants to experience it. Bonus for me was he is not on screen on that day we visited!
MrElcangry1977
Great very nice
Nel A
Very lovely place and lots of restaurants love this place
Pecola Chase
Very quaint...awesome shops to visit and restaurants to ENJOY!!!
dat nguyen
Cool place to walk around and plenty of places to eat.
FrankP831

Josimar Colindrez
Cash is king, make sure to you have $USD$, they do not accept foreign currency.
Josh Fearson (Ryoko)
Amazing place to visit. Amazing food and shops!
Julius Jones
I've always enjoyed going to Little Tokyo very Serene and peaceful
Flynn W
Wonderful experience and amazing shops. Highly recommend visiting.
Freddy Gurrola (Joos3)
Nice area to eat and shop for your weeb needs. Yamazaki bakery shop is my go to when I come down here. I love their steamed buns. There's fugetsu-do nearby if you're craving mochis. Also check out Bunkado gift shop just outside the village. Good place to buy Japanese items like lanterns, lucky cats, Japanese home decor, etc.
Have a walk to the Kinokuniya by San Pedro and 2nd street. They have a good collection of books/mangas in english from what I've seen recently. Its above the Murukai Market. As for parking always carry cash on you for parking. Most parking lots are like 10 bux and there's parking meters along the street.
PS- I do like the the little tokyo village at night. The ambiance is enchanting. Enjoy!
Terry Fick
Atmosphere is awesome as usual. Food so and so, but still, memorable, fun.
Molly Thoms
We went for my 13 year olds birthday. She loved it.
Henry Wong
A place with Japanese, Korean and Chinese culture and stores.
Wesley Lo
If you're planning to eat in the little Tokyo plaza. Make sure you get your parking ticket validated for up to 2 hours of free parking.
Nirali Patel (Niroo Biroo)
Little Tokyo is a historic Japanese area with Japanese restaurants, shops and architecture. The restaurants are so nice and known in Los Angeles. This is a great place to walk around and enjoy the historic area of Los Angeles.
Azhar Gulzar
The Japanese American national museum is located in Little Tokyo near downtown LA,CA and dedicated to preserving the history and culture of Japanese American
Sandy
It's a good place to go waste time. Beware for the summer time it gets overwhelming packed for sone restaurants the wait time can be over an 1hour. Other than that it's fun.
D.C.
Yeah so Little Tokyo is quite cute and they have lots of restaurants and shops. However the mall there is depressing and a bit creepy. Also watch out for all of the homeless around the neighborhood, wouldn't recommend going by yourself.
Young Lee
Small place but so many things to see and enjoy. And specially Japanese collectibles are two thumbs up.
Carl McGee
A delightful little place with quaint shops and wonderful little family restaurants. the people are really nice that visit and the people in the stores are also swell. all kinds of special Imports that are very different and rare.
Jason Lazaro
It was right before Halloween, so fun costumes. I like to go for the steamed buns yummy, some good shops for animae if that's your thing. Something fun for a quick jaunt.
Alfonso Peralta
We were craving Japanese food and we decided to make the drive to Little Tokyo, great choice. Walking around all the shops.we found the perfect spot, greatselection of sushi.
Ice cream shops are amazing.
Bhagya Perera
Nice place with good restaurants
Sabba
Super location. Every restaurant is authentic and tasting so good. It is a great place for everyone. There a a lot of parking spaces where you pay a little money and put your car in a safe spot. The restaurants are also opened till midnight. You can even eat somewhere at 2 am. So don’t wait and visit this place. If you wanna stay there there a two or three hotels/hostels. One big and expensive one and one cheap one. I would recommend both of them.
Bryttni Gutierrez
Very very nice what the anime expo should've been but this was excellent accommodating fairly priced loved it
Tae Ho Yoon
One of the few places in LA where you can feel like you are doing something that is worth your time. If you are a geek, this is your natural habitat. If you have a date and she is tired of Melrose Pl this is a nice new option.
Charles Lee
If you can find parking meaning come early a good place to hang out for a couple hours rate Japanese food all kinds of interesting people lots of small stores with interesting stuff
Praneet Raj
Loved my visit to local Tokyo. A lot of good sushi and ramen places to eat. I will be back again.
Taxi&Touring à la carte
Great spot
David
Little Tokyo is great for anything Japanese. Food, clothes, toys l and all that. Only reason it isn't 5 stars is the common interaction with homeless people and lack of bathrooms.
Kim Keller
Was a fun trip, there is a lot to see, some great places to eat.
P.S. With Love
The whole area is full of stores and restaurants and the Japanese museum. Fun area something for everybody families people on dates and friends out for an evening!
Isaac Martinez
The best in LACA in eateries for example Sushi, Soup, Desert, Bars, Animate costumes and Toys. Starbucks Boba I mean everything including a cool Neighborhood! Tip and be respectful. Thanks...
Carla Corona Cardoso
A great place for those passionate about Japan; they got a lot of different stores for everyone, and it's pretty nice to walk around
A.B
I loved little Tokyo but the prices are ridiculous in alot of those places
Rio Enriquez (Kaimaka)
We love this places so many things to see do, eat and buy. Anime and japanosm abound. However, this can be a tourist trap at times and can get pretty crowded.
Louis Eguaras
We love Little Tokyo especially going to pick up some donuts and rotis at Cafe Dulce. We also love the many awesome sushi izakaya locations as well! Arigatoo Gozaimasu Little Tokyo!!!
Deep Goyal
Perfect place to experience Japanese tradition!
Aslan Lee
Fun place to absorb the Japanese culture. Sushi, Ramen, bubble tea, herbal tea, and more!!! Awesome.
Marlon Barrios
This place is really small but perfect for dates or a walk with or if you like japanese food and culture theres plenty of it here
Cj Ariman (Cj-L.A.)
It is a quite small are honestly but here you can genuinely taste some of the cuisines of Japan. And they are good. If you have never been I recommend you visit it at least once.. You won't regret it.
Joey B
High traffic plaza for the best Little Tokyo has to offer with variety of cafes, eateries, bakeries, novelties, and even Pho-ever, a Vietnamese restaurant in the back upstairs on the 2nd level.
jian yu
Nice place to try sushi, roll, Raman...
Ruby Walker
Definitely a fun place to check out whether you're a tourist or local. Lots of cute little shops and restaurants.
Phillip
Food is great . but all the stores treat you like your gonna rob the place no matter who you are. It makes the shopping experience annoying but they still get 4 stars because the food is worth putting up with it. Especially the curry man buns
John Doe
Cool Spot too kick it for a bit.
Nate Tate
It's nice to walk around and there are great food options. Not too crowded either. I give it four stars because the shops didn't really appeal to me. But it's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
Sapphire L
Awesome place to check out. Lots of little shops, a bit of a tourist trap, but the food is so worth it. Taking a Lyft into Little Tokyo is def more convenient than driving and dealing with parking. Plan to spend most of the day there and have dinner at one of the restaurants!
Lady Jagara
If you're looking for a taste of Asian culture this it! Amazing food and delicious treats are easy to find through the area. And for those hard to get gifts, this is the place you'll find unique gifts in the various gift shops. A must go place while visiting downtown L.A.

I loved visiting. I felt like I was in Japan! This would also be a great place to just relax and have amazing food. The stores are full of toys, candy, soda, clothes, figurines, banners, etc. I would love to live there and just wake up to the Little Tokyo Mall and Anime Jungle!
Rodica “Rachel” Carroll
Great, relaxing atmosphere . A lot of authentic Japanese food options. Also closing, & anime related products.
Karyn McCartney
I'm not a fan of California and really dislike LA but Little Tokyo is beyond amazing! If you're into Asian culture and/or Japan but can't get out of the states, you must go here! There are so many little shops and hole-in-the-wall places to eat you could spend a week here and still not find it all! Truly a treasure of history that you must visit
Patricia Espinoza
I have lived in California all my life and had never been to little Tokyo mostly because I avoid the Los Angeles area like the plague 🤣!! I don't like L.A. to many people and way too much traffic. My 11 year old son wanted to come here so we decided to take him. I have to say it was pretty interesting and loved the different types of Japanese food! We tried all kinds of foods and pastries 😋. We also walked over to the Marukai Market and purchased Japanese groceries to take home. Overall awesome experience and didn't have to fly all the way to Tokyo Japan! ✌️
Rev Doddy
Not as good as the real place but it's the closest I'll get for a while. A great place for authentic Japanese food and groceries.
Leah
Love it but come tourism, business will suffer bc of their lunchtime closing😞 …
Mr Owl
If you are new to LA you have to check out Little Tokyo. The village is so cute. Lots of great places to eat too. Don't forget to pay a visit to the underground shops for all the sweet anime gear, books, and trading card shops too.
Sylvia Escobedo
Always love coming here, so much to see and do!!!!
Alexandra Geesman
Fun gathering of many Asian shops and restaurants. If a restaurant had a long wait, just go to one of the other many yummy places. Fickle Wish for trendy Japanese Fashion straight from the source and art for local US artists! Find the magic of wonderful Japanese cosmetics at a few shops around here.
Nica Demus
Fabulous! So much food choices and variing price point. Everybody can have a good time. It was Saturday and there was Karaoke that created a entertaining ambiance throughout our visit.
Alana M. Berg, PHR
Yamazaki was amazing! We cleaned them out of Melon Pan. Coffee pan was delicious.
Chevy Chen
Fun shops and good eats, such a lovely atmosphere. Don’t forget to check out the grocery store and local shops.
Tyler D
Pretty cool place.. visited from bay area. We're used to China town in Frisco so this was a nice change of scenery.
John Lopez
This is my favorite place. I love bringing new friends and old to little Tokyo whenever I can. Recently they've changed things up which brought some new locations to light. The place always is a great walk around and food
Emrick Ong
Great place to experience some Nihon culture
Brittney Colson
Enjoyed it. Too bad there wasn’t more stores.
Jawn Frankos
Great place to hang out. The village plaza is nice and quaint. The complex across the street from the plaza is more upbeat. So a nice selection depending on your mood. There's also a tiny mall that mainly sells anime merchandise like toys, clothing, cosplay, etc.
Tony Le
Fun little area with a decent assortment of shops. Get some snacks, tasty food, and random knick knacks here. It's not too large, so you can pretty much visit everything in one trip here (shop-wise, not restaurant-wise of course)
Alex O
Great place to hang out with family by day and afternoon and by night agreat place to have a bear and eat great food and people watch.
M Langenderfer
Authentic Japanese food. Checknit out when you're hungry. Lots of options so I won't get into them here.
Kim Clark
Fun place , good ramen
Ying Ting Huang
Really small but not bad.
Matt Aguilar
The Little Tokyo district is home to dozens of family owned shops and businesses. Not only can you buy a ton of Japanese goods but the food is delightful. Every year for Anime Expo, my friends and I book a hotel in LT even though its far from the convention center. We just love the area and the food. Be careful of visiting on mondays since most shops are closed.
Eugene Koh
Many dining choices, clean, usually very crowded. Free parking is limited to 2 hours with validation.
Alex
Great place for a date or spend an afternoon. Ramen and other Japanese cuisine restaurants can be found here. The Tokyo mall is about a 5-10 min walking distance from here. There are shops for Japanese pop culture and various bakeries.
Paris Double
Lot of people these days cleaned up and safe
et yoshi
Love looking thru all the small businesses for unique gift items and yummy foods.
Gustavo Osorio
It's a neighborhood that has a lot of stores and restaurants to attract you. I really like coming to Little Tokyo for the history that some of the establishments have.
Monica Benyamin
LA CITYVIEW 35 is located here. Catch #LIVEwithMonica & the latest LA local news on the city Channel, on their Facebook, or on their YouTube at LA CityView35.

Japanese Historic district in LA is a must stop place. Great festivals, really good food, high quality Japanese shops (excellent Japanese art/gifts, Japanese bookstores, groceries, kimono shops, a really good Japanese hardware store, Fugetsudo, the list goes on..) just some of the many reasons to go here.
You will see lots of locals, Japanese culture, as it's a great place to experience.
A very peaceful happy place-- this is a great destination together with family and friends. Have been going here for many decades and still love it here!

A restaurant that is no longer here called Tokyo Kaikan that was on First Street near San Pedro is where the California Roll was invented (possibly on January 21st of either 1973 or 1974).
ThuyTien N.
Nice place for family & dating. We bought a coffee from Cafe dulce, sat down & chill.
The red bean cake in a little shop which always has a line is not really worth to wait.
Restroom in supermarket.
Ray Chau
Lot of interesting stores and restaurants
Virginia Njeri
My son lead me here probably 15 years ago since he loves Japanese Anime and the only manga stores we could find were here...Anime Jungle. Lil' Tokyo has since stayed our Family favorite weekend excursion for all things Anime to a their quainy grocery store or cosplay ideas to my favorite sweet breads Shoppe to gently Freshly baked An Pan😊nomnom. Oh and did I mention the free/open karaoke🎶 night's make this the happiest place on 🌎
Jack Chu
Nice little Japan town which really makes you feel you're in Japan even though it's just a few streets. Most ramen / Japanese restaurant around the area are pretty highly rated. I'd say it's a must visit in L.A.of you like Japanese stuffs.
I took one star off due to the expensive and difficult parking situation.
Courtney
I love Little Tokyo! I come to Los Angeles annually and always spend one of my days here. There are several restaurants, snack places and shops to explore; including cosmetic, gifts, clothing, kawaii fashion and more. Don't miss Mitsuru Cafe for dango and red bean cakes! It's cheap, fresh, and delicious. There is a parking garage on site so driving here is convenient. :)
Farid Elneser
Has many interesting hobby stores, souvenir shops, and the best ramen and sushi spots. The village plaza atmosphere with the old people walking around makes you feel like you're in Japan.
Tovarish Komrade
Great place to visit if you're in los angeles, they have authentic food, shops and anime. Theres many other asian places located around the area within easy walking distance. Good place to stop by along with korean town and china town. Get you some good buns
The Dtkaka
Fun. There are a lot of places and stores fpr tourists and the vibe is pleasant.
If you go to karaoke its probably a good idea to get your own room because they dont play your songs unless you're a usual customer.
YJ K
Little Tokyo is no Japan but the small community offers plethora of amazing Japanese eateries and boutique stores.
Pancake
Perfect place for a fun, peaceful hang out. There's so much tasty looking food/sweets here, I'm going to have to come back to try the rest of the stuff I didn't get to today.
Pablo Costa Tirado
I love this place. In a certain moment looks like you are in Tokyo actually, but just in a small street that probably is the best of this little Tokyo. Is full of Japanese restaurants and shops. Around this area there are as well Japanese related stuff like a museum.
Christopher Waggoner
Best walkable area in Los Angeles.
Eva Baaza
This place is the heartbeat of life.
If you are looking for a vibrant, urban, nightlife, Little tokyo gives you that.
We went there and there was the DTLA art exhibition that stretched out onto the street. It was quite vibrant with original art sellers, food trucks with mouth watering food.
There is a market place where karaoke takes place too, the bars are also vibrant with life especially on Friday evenings.
Modern architecture, wonderful Asian cuisine and a vibrant night life are the heartbeat of this little town.
glynn isoda

Claudia Jimenez
As well SO CLOSE to The Japanese 🍙 🍡 District Locals is a GREAT place to walk and get to know a historical place with great adventures!!
Kay Jay (케이제이)
It's very small for what it's supposed to be. Realistically like 3 large blocks worth of real J-town.
As small as our Chinatown is, it's smaller than that.
That being said, it's really nice to walk around and gets sweets and treats.
Wendell Cotton
Meh. It contains mostly generic Japanese goods. It felt like a lot of shops sold the same handful of tea kettles and pop culture items. I didn't try a lot of food, but what I did try was very good.
Jesus Morales
There are so many trendy little shops. Some of the best LA eats can be found in this area. It's also walking distance to the Arts District.

Little Tokyo is one of many reasons why I love living in LA! I've lived in San Francisco, New York and Chicago (and yes, I've travelled to Tokyo!) ... and Little Tokyo is very unique to a North American city, it's a small, magical combination of Japanese and Japanese-American culture, with shops, restaurants, and trendy, or trend-setting, shops!
Javier Garibay
Great place to stroll if you're ever in downtown LA. The mall is made to look like a small strip mall from Japan. Lots of signage is also in Japanese. Nice place to spend an afternoon.
Omar Oliveros
Pretty good. Pretty busy too. Lots of options, do your research before hand. Decent date spot
Ramon Rubalcava
If you are around the downtown LA area you have to check out Little Tokyo. Little Tokyo is an experience to just look at with all the lights it has. They have many small cafe’s offering so many things including my favorite Mochi Ice Cream and Boba. You could also find many shipping stores that are well known to have popular and trendy items.
ZafiroSpeed - ReVinyl net
It was very difficult to find parking and ended up finding a spot on the street with the parking meter but there was only nine parking spots available in the parking structure and there was a line of about 11 cars waiting to get in so just drove around so I can find it empty curb spot.
Carolina Ruiz

A must stop when I am in LA. Love perusing the anime memotabilia, eating excellent Raman, shopping at the japanese market for unique snacks and watching the live entertainment in the plaza area. Fully plan to stay at the New Otani hotel one day to have all of these amenities a few steps away.
