Reviews of Ship Island Excursions
Ken's Alternate Universe
This was a great family experience. The crew was friendly and informative and let everyone know when and where they saw any dolphins on the dolphin cruise. The boat would loop back and figure eight to give everyone a chance to see the dolphins. We were also told about other points of interest in the area and made it almost to Ship Island. When we return to the area, we plan on taking a trip with Ship Island Excursions to the island itself. I highly recommend this company. They offer a number of unique cruises and all of them sound like fun.

Such a fun trip! It was a last minute decision to go and we didn't bring what we normally would, but they had drinks, food, sun screen, sun glasses, everything we needed available to buy on the island as well as food and drinks on the boat. The boat trip is about an hour long each way. We saw dolphins on the way up and the way back and while we were on the beach. Be prepared to do some walking, only one set of bathrooms were open and it was a good little walk from the beach side. Chairs and umbrellas were nice to have for rent. Definitely buy the cup for $3 and get $1 refills.
Debra Durante
The water is a bit cleaner than the mainland. The snack shack had horrible food. Don't expect much. They did have necessary things if you forgot them at home. Suntan lotion, bathing suits, souvenirs, shirts, drinks and snacks, cold beers. Nice people. You could rent a boogie board for $10 or buy a raft for 7 or a tube for 5. You can also rent chairs on the beach for $5 and an umbrella for $15. Which you will need if you didn't bring any cover. The fort is a cool piece of history to visit and take pictures. The ferry ride was smooth and we saw a few dolphins along the way and some jellyfish. There is a snack bar onboard inside with cool air, with minimal seating, so if you're looking for a cool place better make it there first. Settle in cause it's an hour ride there and back.

We LOVED our Excursion. The Captain and staff were amazing. The Captain did a tour of the harbour and explained the barges, shipping containers that were being removed, and a lot of information about the harbour.
It took a little bit of time before the Dolphins decided to show themselves and The Captain circled back so that we could get better views and more photos of the dolpins. The Crew also pointed out where the dolphins were so The Captain could relay the info to ALL passengers. He explained how sometimes the dolphins like to play in the wake from the boat. It was an amazing trip. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to see Dolphins OR has never been on a boat in the Ocean. My 12 yr old was with us and he asked if we would get sick on the boat - which is a fair question because its definitely NOT like being on a boat in a lake.
The Captain also pointed out what Islands were off in the distance & advised of information on those islands in case anyone wanted to also do an island excursion.
(I'll post more pictures a little later)

I absolutely enjoyed this! Tried it for the first time last year and had to return this year! Awesome experience! You get to enjoy being out on the water and see birds and dolphins swimming around the vessel. Make sure to use sunscreen during summer because it does get pretty hot. You have an option to go inside into a cooler AC ventilated area. They do sell some snacks (drinks, ice cream, popcorn, chips, hotdogs and nacho cheese). Crew is very friendly and helpful! Thank you all for having this fun time! We will be back!
IamUurk
We had a good time, the captain was great, he kind of sounded like Barney Fife which made the tour that much better. They also take you around the big harbor during the dolphin trip and show you some of the big shipping boats, we saw plenty of dolphins during the cruise and there was plenty of space on board.
Nicole Cronauer
The staff was great and the ferry ride was smooth on the way over and on the way back. They changed our time due to forecasted weather and since we had to leave earlier, they threw in an umbrella and chairs. I would highly recommend renting them because it made the experience very enjoyable!
Aly B
The wonderful staff took great care making sure we saw dolphins on our cruise and gave us some tips on where the best seats were to see them swim along side the boat. They did not disappoint! Friendly, knowledgeable & priced right, this is a must do cruise!
Dana Wise
We had such a great time. We went on the ferry to Ship Island. The ferry ride was awesome. Snacks and drinks available to purchase. We saw so many dolphins. The lifeguards on the beach were so nice too. The beach had so much wildlife. We saw dolphins, catfish, little fish, hermit crabs, and crabs. Would definitely do it again!! Thank you so much for a great trip!
Katie
Had a blast! Definitely worth a visit if you are visiting New Orleans or Biloxi! Everyone who works there was really nice! We swam with crabs and saw stingrays on the way back to the boat! Saw lots of dolphins too! We had no problem bringing 2 small coolers and a few chairs! Exploring the fort and seeing the big cannon was fun after swimming! The tour guide woman in the fort was wonderful! We went on a Friday and it wasn’t crowded we had half the beach to ourselves! Love the set up of chairs and someone comes to you instead of having to plan it out makes it very easy!
Will Russell
Great service and the ferry left promptly on time. Snacks and drinks are available on board and on the island. I'd recommend leaving at least 30 minutes before your departure time if you want good seats.
Antony Jeyaraj
We went on a dolphin watching cruise and happened to see few dolphins. The crew was very helpful and supportive. It was a 1.5 hours ride and drinks/snacks available on board. The crew used to announce on mic if they spot any dolphins. It’s around 25$ for adults and 14$ for kids 3-12. It was safe and fun filled trip and finally watched some Dolphins. Our trip started at 4. To 5.30 and we booked online around that day morning, tickets were available even it was the Halloween weekend. Worth a try
Marian Mays
What a fun trip! I had some tire issues coming down and called the office. They moved my booking from 9 to noon with no problem. Crew was very relaxed. The boat ride takes about 45 minutes each way and we saw tons of dolphins. We can’t wait to come back.
Ant Johnson
Please note that we arrived before everything opened, however you can still walk around freely. Great photo opportunities for memories. Still give 5 stars because you can still enjoy the area.
Sarah Ouellet
We went on the Saturday night sunset cruise. It was fun. DJ, dancing and beautiful sunset views. The only downfall was the long lines to buy refreshments.
Tracy D.
Check in was quick and easy. I'm prone to motion sickness but I was fine the whole time. We saw several dolphins. A storm rolled in as we were boarding to come back. It caught up to us about halfway through, but the captain and crew did their thing and got us back safely.
SwaGGaRiTe247
Get place to visit for vacation and small getaways. The dauphin watch was awesome and very peaceful. Enjoyed and will go again in the future. Highly recommend.

Every time we visit Biloxi Mississippi, we always make it a point to go to Ship Island. The boat ride is so enjoyable and the beach is always clean and just so relaxing. Would recommend renting an umbrella and chairs. Take a cooler with some drinks and some snacks. ONLY downfall is after you get off of the boat, it is a long walk to the actual beach. A MUST DO IF VISITING THE AREA!!!!
Lesley
My family and I did the dolphin cruise , and it was awesome! We did see dolphins. The boat ride was very beautiful and peaceful. Parking is super close not far from the shipping deck. The Captain and staff were amazing and friendly. Snacks, drinks , and ballpark food are available on board the ship. We will definitely be booking with Ship Island excursion again! I’m thinking the sunset cruise next time!
regina gaglione
My family really enjoyed the dolphin cruise. The crew made a point to interact with the children and make the trip a special experience for them. We saw several dolphins. Snacks that are available are a bit pricey.
Molli Bowen
The ferry ride to the island can be very chilly in the spring so taking a hoodie is a good idea. The dolphin watching on the ride is magical. 🐬🐬🐬
Skyler Parpana
Me and my family had an amazing experience here. We actually got to see dolphins in the wild. You can freely move around on the ship to view all around. They also have food, snacks, drinks, ice pops ect. I highly recommend this for your family. Really looking forward to go again when ship island finishes its repairs!
Merlin Lock & Safe
Very nice family owned business...we have taken quite a few rides out to ship island over the past 20 years..... But the company refuses to use updated boats... They need a high speed catamaran.... These old boats take 1 hr 20 min or more, one way, on what should be a 45 min ride..... $46 is pricey for blowing half your day on the boat...( Round trip)
Karen Arwood Parks
The only negative is the bathrooms closest to the beach are still closed due to the hurricane damage. Looking forward for them to be up and running at 100% soon.
Brendon Bryant
Had a blast with my family and it was an awesome day to go. I would recommend going and having a nice day with your family.
Peter Egan Jr.
It was an overall good experience, although a bit pricey for a 20 mile roundtrip boat ride.
Katie Carter
Lovely trip. The ferry ride was fun and safe, bathrooms abundant which is helpful with young kids.
Ranger Tim was super funny and very informative about the tour of Fort Massachusetts. He held the attention of my four and six year old and at the end of the day after they completed their activities he gave them a Junior Ranger badge and swore them in. My daughter said it was the best part of the day and now is telling us repeatedly to throw our trash away responsibly.
Everyone was great. We visited both the snack bar on the ferry and island multiple times and it was an all around nice time.
I will say: bring bug spray! If the flies happen to be around they like to bite. I noticed keeping in the sun kept them at bay but alas I am a ginger and require shade on long Beach trips and wish I'd thought ahead.
Def will visit again.
Leslie D. Oliver
I went for the first time on June 24, 2022 at 9am. The ride to the island was very pleasant. We arrived around 10 am. We stayed until 2:30 and came back around 3:15. Ship Island was awesome and I will definitely be going again. The staff is absolutely amazing. It's been a very long time since I've had such exemplary service from anywhere. Everyone of the staff members were very friendly and extremely helpful. Seriously, I cannot say enough how awesome they were. I'm not the biggest fan of water travel, lol, but the guys made it very enjoyable.
Derrick Lovett
First I will say "be early" you don't want to miss your cruise.
The staff was great and worked to make our cruise experience wonderful. Our cruise was chartered and the staff did an excellent job at making out party feel welcome and appreciated.
They offer several other cruising opportunities like the Sunset cruise that are great experiences as well.
I highly recommend taking a cruise with this team, they'll take care of you.
Thank you
Jason Myers (Jay)
Had an absolutely excellent time.. It was absolutely wonderful, the captain explained so much about the history, sealife and the dolphins and then there was the spectacular sunset to top it off. We had a blast and am planning the next trip!”
Jesse Powell
Ship island Excursions made everything easy from the snack bar to the very detailed description of the boat ride.
The ride was a nice and peaceful one hour cruise to ship island. We saw tons of dolphins along the route to and from the island as well as from the beach.
Great job Ship island Excursions!
JMB B
We did the Dolphin cruise, and it was a blast!! We came to visit from Texas, and I came across this and knew we had to do it. First and foremost, the crew was amazing. I appreciate how they helped everyone look for dolphins and pointed them out. Very professional and all of them had a smile on their face the whole time. Snacks and beer is very reasonable! I saw an earlier post that someone complained about the snack prices…they are just being a straight up cry baby. Don’t listen to them. We will definitely come back for another excursion! We had an amazing time! I wish I could post a video, but that still would not be justice compared to the in person experience. Definitely take the time to go! Very worth it.
Hanah Ramsey
I can't not praise this enough! The highlight of our trip! The staff on the boat was the nicest! Boat ride was about 1 hour each way. There is a snack bar on the boat and they let you walk around freely as you wish. When you get to the island you have quite a long walk on a boardwalk but would HIGHLY recommend wearing shoes that will be comfortable during the trek. There is no shade on the beach, but the do offer umbrellas and chairs you can rent. The chairs look iffy at first but they are really comfortable once you set them up! You're allowed to bring coolers/bags/liquor just no glass. The water there is crystal clear and there are lots of critters! We saw sting rays as soon as we got in the water, angel fish, crabs, flounder, hermits, dolphins and tons of other small fish awesome place, clean beach and colder water than back on the shore. This trip was the highlight of our vacation and we would return again and again!
Carly Tafolli
Our experience with Ship Island Excursions was amazing! It was my sister, neice and myself and we had a wonderful time. The boat was well taken care of, trip was well organized and the island was a dream. We went just before season began and it was absolutely perfect. Our souvineer photo was even great and a must-have to take home.
The walk from the boat to the other side of the island was a but long for little kids so I would recommend planning accordingly.
Tonio Yoyo
Well worth it whether you plan to fish swim I'll just go for a boat ride and watch the dolphins water is much clear than gulfport beach And the waves are better as well... Watch out for alligators I know sounds crazy 5 miles off the coast but saw 2 while I was there
Brandy Jones
The excursion was good. The boat ride takes about 50 minutes to get to the island. (So one way)
The staff are very professional and friendly. Once you get off the boat, it is LONG, HOT walk to the beach so pack light and wear light clothing or just swimwear. The boat has a snack bar with food and beverages (including beer) if you drink. There is also a snack bar and covered eating area on the island. You can take a small cooler 48 qt. or less. Lots of history on the island and the beach was nice with chairs and umbrellas you can rent, It was just very hot. Wear sunscreen and drink lots of water!!!!
Tammie M Smith
it is a great opportunity to go out on a large vessel, enjoy the water, breeze and see the dolphins.
Ship island is amazing. crystal clear water, white sandy beach.
Robert Jones
This is a great place to go, it was really cool. We've never seen lights like this. the larger display of lights, moved, changed colors & designs to the Beat of a wide variety of Christmas music. it was mesmerizing. It was FREE !! and sponsored by one of the local casinos, the whole family of all ages can enjoy the free show, they had a live band, train & other rides, food & small gift shop. You could also roast marshmallows on an open fire. I think you can enjoy the free light show until New Year's
Lindsey Lovekamp
Had a lot fun!! Definitely should add a transportation system bc you have to walk across the island to get to the swim area.
Chris Mahoney
Fantastic!!! Highly recommend this trip. The staff was all super nice. We saw dolphins on the cruise which was a bonus. We got burgers for lunch and they were VERY reasonably priced as were the drinks. The beach was beautiful but the sand is VERY hot. Be sure to take good sunscreen and reapply often. The cool breaze, shade from the umbrellas and perfect water temp make you forget you are in the blazing hot sun.
ALFRED A Jackson
Visit was well planned and employees well skilled at taking care of customers and boat. You could not get better help anywhere. On time arrival and departure
Chris Kelley
Incredible. The Island has both a great beach and a historic Civil War era fort.
Kelsey
Fun tour we missed out on the up close experience with the dolphins but of course they are wildlife and it’s a gamble. The boat was fun and the snacks and drinks on board are good
Julie Stephens
Super cool experience! Make sure to bring sun screen and bug spray. Biting flies and gnats are abundant. Island is super neat to see. Historical talks were really interesting! Boat ride was great!! Loved being able to buy a refillable cup! Super cool! Thank you!
running funk
A nice 50 minute boat ride to a slightly historical island. Very family friendly and super reasonable concessions. Take a short hike and see crabs, stingrays, and black sand! Shelling was not nearly as productive as touted, mostly broken. It is nice to have different time options to arrive and leave. Make sure you bring walking shoes, the boardwalk is long and hot!! I saw a couple of people attempting the jaunt in bare feet... unsuccessfully.
The fort is pretty cool, but beware the mosquitoes around the cisterns.... you have been warned.
Slightly pricey. Bring your own umbrella, snacks and chairs if you'd like to save a few bucks.
Amy Miller
We decided at the last minute to do this. It was fun. We went midweek and it wasn't overly crowded. But I would recommend going online and getting tickets ahead of time!
NFS No Limits
It was absolutely awesome well worth the money we got to see dolphins jumping out of the water we saw a whole bunch of stingray and tons of crab beautiful Island with unbelievable white sand. Most definitely something you need to try out here is so beautiful we were here only one day and we now have a vacation rental and we decided to come back out 3 weeks later and here we are on Labor Day enjoying our new vacation rental back out on the beach it is a must. Here in Valencia Mississippi is one of the best beach oceans we've been at compared to Atlantic City and Santa Monica this hands down... kills it nothing better the ship ride was just super freaking cool
Jarrett Guthrie
This excursion made me genuinely suprised for what Mississippi had to offer. I've been to the gulf a handful of times and the only wildlife I saw was jellyfish. Not so this time. We saw dolphins on the ride out tons of crabs while we were there and even some stingrays. The water was clean and the sand was good. Best beach experience I've ever had. In the end I did not regret the seemingly exorbitant $40.00 a head price.
Just a heads up, no glass containers are allowed on the beach. Bring your beer in a can.
Christy Sharp
It was a great trip with family and friends, with the exception of an encounter with one gentleman who was very rude about our folded wagon. Can we talk about this wagon?! People with HUGE rolling coolers, long fishing poles, SUP paddle boards, but a folded wagon not allowed. We had a baby and all the stuff that comes with a baby. I recommend looking at your policy, checking your attitude, and making appropriate decisions on a case by case basis. Shout out to the rest of the crew. Nice folks.
Best “Beck” Bae
Superb!! Amazing, and informative of the damage, loss, and major recovery efforts due to the oil spill. The aquarium staff on the ride along, also provided info on how the general public small part makes a big difference and the many ways we can contribute. Seeing the dolphins was by far the best of the cruise!! Thanks guys..best birthday week ever!!
Victoria Bright
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Ferry ride is a bit chilly in the spring, so bring along a jacket along.

Decent tour, fair price, good beach, but water is not as expected

Our first excursion had to be rescheduled due to weather but luckily the following day was beautiful and we got to go. We booked and took the 9 am - 2:30 pm trip. There was an unexpected long walk to the beach but we were fine with it. Just be aware... Wheelchairs were allowed and at least one is available there. We took advantage of purchasing an umbrella and chairs. No reservations needed. Just walk up and claim you spot. The staff comes around after everyone's settled to collect payment. Boggy boards and floats are available to rent. The shoreline was populated by crabs during our visit but most of them scurried away as you entered the water. A little girl did get pinched by one but not sure who was the aggressor lol. The snack bar was reasonable and the food was pretty good. We packed up around 1 pm for a light lunch then headed back to the ferry. We saw a school of fish and stingray at the dock before boarding the boat. The crew said dolphins are pretty popular in this area but we didn't see any during our excursion.
Nancy Cross
Very friendly staff ! Knowledgeable about the state park and the Fort on the island.
Gary Borne
Loved the boat ride over and especially the ac seating area. Beware once you arrive the walk to the other side too get to the beach area is 1 mile. The sand is very hot so have your beach shoes ready. They also have snack bar with a covered area to get out of the sun and umbrellas and chairs to rent on the beach.
Kim Edwards
Great place to relax. Awesome crew on our voyage.
Oladayo Abimbola
A nice place for a weekend getaway. Only an hour away from gulfport. The company offering the excursion has very warm and professional staff. Affordable too!
Rob
Took the dolphin evening cruise. Didn’t think I would see any dolphins but I was wrong! We saw at least a dozen or more.
Heather Seago
We loved our trip. We spent the day on Ship Island and enjoyed every minute. We will definitely be visiting again soon!
Wasted Kustomz
You would have to do the trip just watch out for the jellyfish if you going in the morning
Sarah Brassell
We were very sad that ship island was closed but we still had an amazing time on the dolphin watching cruise.
Chasity Johnson
Love this ferry and the island is awesome. The water is so much better then the Biloxi water witthr eh greasiness and the smell. Ship island is the only beach we go to near us
Charisse Murphy
Our family had a wonderful time. The crew were very professional and nice. The boat ride took about an hour to Ship Island. The beach looked clean and the water looked way better than our gulfcoast beaches.. I would recommend just renting their umbrella and chairs. The food and drinks are reasonably priced.
Elaine White
What a beautiful experience this was! One of the better moments in life.. Small price to pay for a whole day of enjoyment, peace & tranquility!! A definate yes...
mine pratt
The boat was crowded. Everyone very friendly. The guide navigated the waters beautifully. We saw several dolphins, and the guide took time to explain the islands. It is a 90 minute tour and we'll worth the money
Made Made
I purchased the family package it had limit of 10tickets. Weekday at ship island we took the 9:am departing time. It was a bit under a hour to get over to ship island it was great experience we seen lots of dolphins and they over sweet/salty snack for my kiddos only downside was that the water wasn’t as clear as said in reviews but a local told my mom it’s due to river dumping in the waters lately I wish the snack shop offered some better options other the carnival food similar to food on ferry ride over they had boogie boards for rent overall my nieces/nephews enjoyed the time here so it was money well spent
clariese mikell
It was my bff birthday we had a nice time Wonderful night 🍷😎
brian robertson
Awesome experience! The crew on the ferry was very kind and helpful. We didn't realize there was food for sale and umbrellas with chairs for rent on the beach. The beach was clean and it was a great overall experience.
matt bressler
It was a fun day trip, everything was fun and the staff were nice but I feel like they know they have the monopoly on taking people to Ship Island so they charge a lot for the ferry ride. Everything else was reasonably priced, just the ferry ticket seems expensive. Overall we had fun!
Ralph Freeman
My wife and I booked a Dolphin watching tour. The tour was fun and the staff was friendly and we were fortunate enough to see some Dolphins. Highly recommended and we will return. Will take pictures of the boat and facilities when we do.
Jacob Chatelain
Overall nice experience. Be sure to bring sunscreen and cover every exposed bit of skin because there is no shade beyond the umbrellas. I would also recommend bringing your own lunch and water, as the prices are a bit ridiculous ($3 for a bottle of water, really?). The beach itself was nice and there was plenty of wildlife to see from the shore.
Glenna R
We had a fun time on our dolphin cruise. We got to see lots of dolphins! The boat crew was great!
David “Dave” NoxiD20
The ferry ride to ship island was enjoyable but if you have any items that you plan on storing with the crew, I’d advise against it. I put my cooler, bag and some beach toys in the storage area and the attendant assured me they would be safe, well when we got to the island none of my items were where I left them and the attendant was no where to be seen and it was just free reign among the passengers on who was grabbing what. Luckily I was able to locate my property but all three items were in separate locations away from where I left them. If you have an expensive cooler or bag I would advise just to hold onto it.
saundra roberts
Loved it all except for one thing
The walk was insanely long for disabled people with heart problems
Other than that I loved it!
William B
Friendly and helpful staff with a great ride to Ship Island. The captain told us when to look for dolphins and where they could be seen. There was plenty of food and drink available for purchase and it was great ride to the island. The company seemed to have plenty of helpful staff to take care of everything.
Gretchen Blaize
Fantastic experience all around. They even worked with me on rebooking my original date twice without costing me more, AFTER we missed the boat. Boat was clean and concessions are priced fairly. Would definitely recommend.
Savanna Leach
Super good had fun all of us good vacation spot have to watch for jellyfish one of us did get stun but lifeguard did good job helping with it
Katie Wyman
My mom planned the trip while my family was visiting and I was skeptical about taking my family of 6 kids age 5, 10, 11 & 16 to an island for the day but it was fabulous! All ages 5 to 72 had a wonderful day together exploring! Thank you NPS for all your hard work and Ship Island excursions for the great day!!
S L
Took the ferry out to spend the day at ship island. What a great time! The staff on the ferry were really friendly. The 50 minute ferry ride offered drinks and snacks for purchase. We also saw a ton of dolphins on our way to and from the island.
Tim Lloyd
Nice boat ride, saw a few dolphins on the way to the island. Departing the boat Fort Massachusetts is close by but, the walk to the beach is a short hike across the island on a boardwalk. They have rental chairs and umbrellas also snakes.
Jason Hopkins
Awsome ride ship island was closed but we did the dolphin sightseeing and did not disappoint
Rachel Abraham Dupont
Had a blast! Highly recommended for a day trip! Be careful of the alligators!!
Gary Robinson
It’s always a nice ride and time going to and from. The crew are all polite and helpful. You will always see dolphins on your way and back.
Rachael M.
We went in the dolphin cruise but didn't see any dolphins. Prices are actually really reasonable. We really enjoyed the boat ride. The captain did go out further than usual looking for dolphins. They also need to turn up the captain's sound throughout the boat as we found it very hard to hear his tour info. Overall, it was a really nice little hour or so adventure. We may consider doing the sunset cruise next time.
Douglas Worley
Ferry to Ship Island takes about an hour Fort and Island great nice beaches great scenery interesting history
Sara Bennett
We had a blast! Took 3 kids out on the cruise and even though we didn’t get to see dolphins, the cruise was still a blast. The Captain was very informative, and the staff was absolutely incredible! Missing out on the dolphins is definitely not the staffs fault- and honestly, it’s just an excuse to go back!
Jeff Schwarzer
RW answered all our questions. He made our trip to ship island a real pleasure. RW also suggested a place to eat and he was spot on omg! Liz and I will be back.

Very nice crew, very accommodating while on the ferry. They always announce if there are dolphins to see swimming around. If I could I would rate them 10 stars lol
Nikki
The boat was easy to get on and off of which is a plus when traveling with both children and seniors. We did the dolphin sighting tour and it was a blast. Kept the kids engaged and was just long enough!
C Cox
We took the 4th of July fireworks cruise. The boat departed about 2 hours before the main event and we drifted about Gulfport harbor until the show. There was a DJ on board to entertain (stuck mainly to 70s and 80s disco and heavy motown played very loud). The cantina had great service providing food and drinks. We saw a few dolphins to top it off.
April Robb “CK-IT” Whisenant
We missed the boat by 18mins. Due to traffic comming from Hattiesburg. But Mr.Kevin gave me a gift card refund for the cruise good for a year. So I will update on this when we make the cruise and actually aboard the cruise lol...
Sam D. (Баба Яга)
Great experience! Very friendly crew & staff. The ride was very enjoyable. We didn't see any dolphins until the end and then saw a large pod! It was a blast. Our captain took us on a quick tour of the Gulfport port which I have wanted to see from that perspective for quite some time! Money very well spent!
SamuraiNola2021
The experience was absolutely exhilarating! My wife and I enjoyed it so very much that once Ship Island opens up again we are definitely going back!
We went on the Dolphin Sightseeing tour and had an absolute great time and will suggest it for everyone and their families.
Jasmine McCormick
I've been living in Gulfport for 2 yrs now, and haven't tried this excursion till now. It was so freaking fun!!! The DJ was blah, but the crowd didn't care. Everyone danced and partied like that day was their last. It was amazing to see. On top of it wasn't crowded. So that was a huge plus.
Sheneaka Dubose
The cruise experience was awesome. The lights of the city at night made it even better
Andrew Wright
Highly recommend. Bring plenty of supplies and enjoy the day! Very nice beach on the island. If you have kids- bring some sand toys.
Kit Quick
This was definitely a good activity. Ordering tickets online and going through check in was easy. The boat ride was smooth. We went on the first boat of the day and right as you get there they have a guided tour of the fort which I recommend everyone doing rather than touring by themselves. Ranger Tim is very knowledgeable about the history. The walk from there takes you to bathrooms then on further is the food court area and further on ( other side of the island) is the beach with chairs, ect. It is a long walk and I noticed people packing larger coolers were probably wishing they hadnt. The sand was very hot so good shoes are recommended till you get to the water. The water was great. Sun block is a must. We did see alot of dolphines while on the boat and at the beach. The boat does have bathrooms and food/drinks for purchase too. I woud recommend this excursion.
Carol Moss
Wonderful boat ride to the island for a sun and sand playday. Kids had a blast playing in the water and sand.
Lourdes Martinez
I will do again! Beautiful and relaxing experience!
Carole Hadden
Can't wait for it to open after the storm. Beautiful beach and water. Ship ride is wonderful. See dolphins going and coming and swimming at the beach. Shower and bath house available. Fort is very interesting to tour. Go several times a year.
Niel Barber
Haven't been on it,since childhood,had 2 other Couples W/us,very smooth Checkin,when it was time to Board.Friendly,helpful Staff.Great Drinks,Music,nice group,Night Cruise made it more fun!
Renée Bailey
I took my retiree parents and my husband out for the evening sunset cruise, and it was wonderful.
My only advice is that, if you are not one to enjoy a party atmosphere, stay on the lower deck or go on the afternoon dolphin cruise instead. There's a DJ for the evening cruise and people dance and drink while enjoying the sights and the ocean air.
Tim H
Nice boat ride out to the island. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. I felt safe the entire time.
Claire
They don't go to ship island at the moment (and probably for awhile) because the hurricane destroyed the dock, but we went on the dolphin watching tour which lasted about an hour and a half and it was so much fun! A very cool tour around the gulf and then out onto the ocean to see the dolphins, when we got back we were lucky enough to see a small alligator sunning on a little dock! He was very cute.
Heather Plascencia
Excellent day trip. Nice boat trip. Island was neat and staff was really friendly. Found lots of shells. Would recommend this to anyone.
Kelly Odom
Did the Dolphin excursion and it was awesome!! We saw quite a few. Good little break in our vacation to sit and just ride the boat. Friendly staff and helpful. Ship Island wasn't open due to Hurricane Zeta damage but I will come again and do that one.
Tammy McCallop
My Anniversary and Birthday was in August.
Booked a Sunset Cruise. Best thing I could have ever done!!!! God was on his Job, like always.
But in my mind he shined extra for us that night.
We just gotten some very sad News. And we made the best out of it on the Cruise.
Thanks for all you do and doing.
John Dicasali
Friendly and helpful crew. Great snack bar. Clean ship and amenities.
Hillory Glover
This was a last minute decision. But a good one! It’s nice and peaceful.
Charles Geary
First-rate operation, from ship to shore: steady, capable crew, great facilities on mainland and on Ship Island.
601 Madwoman
I recommend you try it.
Dena Temple
Great way to spend a sunny day. Clear water and lots of aquatic wildlife. Do NOT forget sunscreen and cold drinks! Watch for dolphins that sometimes follow the boat during the relaxing 60- minute ride. Walk from boat to beach is 1/3 mile and can be brutally hot.
Stephanie
So much fun and so reasonably priced. There was so much to see. Love that they have a consession area on boat to pick up drinks and snacks while out. The ride was perfect and saw some dolphins. So all around plus! Definitely a place to go back to.
Beige Steed
The ferry leaves on time. Very friendly. Long walk to other side of island be sure to wear shoes. No flip flops the sand will burn your feet!!!
Fritz
All in all a fun time. Weather was nice, crew was fantastic and knowledgeable, and the boat was fun. Docked a star because we didn't actually see dolphins, though we did see a lot of birds, and the crew seemed really surprised and apologetic. 4/5 stars would recommend, even without dolphins it's a good time.
Jennifer Norris
This was potentially a neat experience and I give it 3 starts for two reasons. First off, anything that was said over the speakers could NOT be heard because of the boat engines and waves. This could be solved if the staff was going around and talking about whatever was being said on the speakers. I saw many staff walking around so I know they had the staff to do it. No one took any time to talk to us about what was going on. The second reason I gave it a 3 is because the boat made a beeline to a shrimp boat so they could show us dolphins. I could have done the shrimp tour and seen the dolphins instead. I think the tour needs to be on a smaller boat with a quieter engine or just advertise it as a boat tour.
Davian Weathers
Nice ride out. First excursions 9f the day didn't see any dolphins so they offered us a new route and they found the dolphins!! Great crew on the ship as well!
Robbye Thomas
So Cool! The variety of Excursions is sure to please the adventurous, the fishermen, and those who want to paruse and cruise with their feet in a relaxed state. Take a stroll along the myriad of piers available. Boat docks are available for those wanting to launch their own personal watercraft.
There is a really nice park available to walk, jog or stroll. Exercise stations compliment those desiring a hearty workout. Really nice Gulf of Mexico spot! Enjoy.
Madhu Nepal
Great place to go.. Small island beach, small Cafe with some food including chicken items.
Sally Gill
Best of the best! Even being down due to repairs, doing small dolphin cruises..great staff, always willing to help and give out info, The staff are honest too, I forgot an iPad on board..staff picked up and placed into lost and found, til I could retrieve it! Thank you so much for being great to your visitors!
dawn whitaker
Go every year! Love the Boat ride get to see dolphins on way to island. So relaxing. It's an all in one adventure. Cant beat the prices. We always rent the chairs/umbrella. Beats having to carry all the excess yourself. Wonderful experience for the whole family.
Vickie Smith Burgon
Everything was great! Boat ride was great! got to see dolphins birds jelly fish crabs n fish. Service was great!
Rich Gibbs
Great Beach sandy white and clear water. Nice Boat ride out
Miranda Jules
Not really worth the money or the ride. It’s a novelty and alright at best. For me personally it’s no different than most of the beaches around that area, the beach is still gross and the water is still dirty. I was hoping for something nicer and more appealing. The boat ride is pretty long. Crabs were out and that was cool to see.
Leah Massey
We loved the boat ride. We saw several dolphins. This excursion was definitely worth the money spent.
Dianna Haskell
Took a dolphin cruise and had a wonderful time. The captain and crew are always so kind and do everything in their power for us to see dolphins 🐬. A storm came up and they took us out of the path so we had a full 90 minute cruise. AWESOME TIME. we will be back for a 3rd cruise soon. …
Mike Johnson`
Ship Island 🏝️ is a Great Experience for the entire Family...lots of Family we're effected because of what happened on the Island... I really only have one issue...& That's not being able to Fish off the Pier...pl change this Policy... …
Dennis Koon
Nice boat ride out to Ship Island takes about an hour and a half
Home & Hanger
While this was an awesome experience and I would love to do it again, please let your guests know that the walk from the dock to the beach area is VERY LONG and there is black sand mixed with the white so it gets EXTRA EXTRA hot. My feet were burned to the point I could hardly walk for two days. And, yes I had shoes on. All the staff were phenomenal, the snack bar food was good (a bit extra salty but still good) and the chairs and ☂️ were so handy. Water was great. Boat and island bathrooms are clean. Well worth the money.
Kayla 1234567890
To my surprise..... the captain and crew we so amazing. I thought I knew what to expect but I didnt. The captain actually let my kids go in the captain's cabin and sit in captain seat! What an awesome crew and we seen several dolphins and learned about the area. Will be visiting again for sure!
celeste dabbs
The most quiet and perfect beach that’s close to home. The concessions are affordable. The island is protected. The boat ride there is long but to beautiful and peaceful. They even have snacks you can buy on the boat! Bring cash and visit their website to see what you can buy or what you should bring. Go early in the morning when it’s quiet and less packed and enjoy the whole day!
Sylvia Young
I loved the little history lesson about the fort and the island. The ferry ride was lovely and we did get to see some dolphins! The water was beautiful on the South side. It was a lot of walking and hot but so worth it.
Carla White
Really cool to see a few dolphins. Seagulls fly behind the boat because the boat pulls food to the surface, not because they get fed by people. *DONT FEED SEAGULLS* My only complaints are 1) I feel a little guilty that it was probably bad for the environment 2) the line for concession & beer is very slow & 3) I wish we could hear the tour guide better
Shan M
I booked this tour as an anniversary gift. I must say we both really enjoyed it. The crew was SUPER nice and friendly. The boat was clean. And we did see dolphins!! I would definitely book again.
Renee Smith
The staff were all amazing and friendly. They pointed out the dolphins so you got a chance to see them. Definitely a must if you are visiting the area. Ship Island was stunning. Beautiful beaches, the Fort Massachusetts is a must. The guide was very informative. The water was so clear you could see all the fish and crab. So worth the $ for a family fun day at the beach. We will definitely be coming back.
teresa hunt
Took the dolphin watching cruise today. It was absolutely amazing!! The staff if so nice and helpful! We saw so so many dolphin! And the boat was very comfortable! Such a deal!! Will do it again!! Highly recommend!!
Callie Stout
A fun and unique experience, beautiful beach and we saw plenty of dolphins quite close to shore. However, the bathrooms were disgusting and be wary of the hot sand and boardwalk if barefoot or bringing a dog. Before visiting, remember sunscreen and bug spray, and make plans to bring your own umbrellas and chairs or have money to rent them as there is not much shade. The boat ride was pleasant despite a bunch of kids running rampant and pushing people. You can pick wherever you want to sit which provides great sightseeing opportunities.
Brandy Luker
fabulous crew, amazing day trip. Great for the whole family. Ferry runs out to Ship Island, decent rates
T L
What a lovely experience. I can't recall the last time I felt so relaxed, just listening to the sound of water and no cars. The crew was also phenomenal and professional!
Helpful Info & Tips
There is a mini Mart with beach items (sunscreen, bathing suits, swimming trunks) and some concession stand items (nachos and cheese, candy, burgers, beer, water, soda).
Bring a small cooler with WATER and sandwiches or snacks if you have eating preferences. No glass bottles permitted on the beach.
There is an area to rent beach chairs and umbrellas, but bring beach towels to cover the chairs as they may be wet or filled with sand.
The boat ride was about an hour and 15 minutes both ways.
Sheree White
I took my family today, 5/30/21. We had so much fun, absolutely had a blast! Beautiful scenery of seagulls & dolphins!
Christina Ordonez
The staff were all so wonderful and friendly! Some of the best customer service I’ve ever had, hands down. I’ve heard some people feel stranded out on Ship Island, but if you bring food and a ball or two and a Fitbit, you’ll be fine. The ship ride was lovely, and we even spotted dolphins. Definitely recommend it!
Tyesha Obe
This cruise was very fun! And the captain was very nice, he shared lots of knowledge and stories. We saw a ton of dolphins! I will do this every time i come back to town! Highly recommended.
Christian Barrette
Trip was great. Somebody stole my umbrella but was able to talk to management and they handled it very professionally.
Elizabeth
GREAT EXPERIENCE! We took the ferry from Gulfport at 9 am and stayed all day until the ferry left at 5:00. The beach and water were very clean! The staff and crew were helpful and nice. We rented an umbrella and two chairs which were worth the price! The bathrooms were clean and the snack bar was nice and reasonably priced. There is a LONG TREK across the island to the beach front! Be prepared to walk. Shoes are a must in the hot sand. Definitely a great experience!!!
Linda Arcuri
This was a nice afternoon out looking for dolphins. Check their website to see what days and times are available. Tickets can be purchased on line or before you take off based on availability. Enjoy
Alice Lorenz
Despite the rain and light waves, the captain made sure we saw dolphins 🐬. The crew was also very informative with questions we asked. Thank you for the wonderful adventure!!! …
Kristopher Walter
We didn't get to see many dolphins, but it was still a good time. Slight delay due to weather. Crew was great, waters were a little rough, overall great time.
Keith Naquin
Good adventure. Secluded and a great place to visit
Craig Blum
We had a blast, the staff was so professional, the boat was huge and so clean and the breeze was perfect. The island was perfect, (rent their chairs it's so much easier than dragging your own, it's a considerable walk from boat landing to the beach) restrooms were clean with private showers, snack bar was well stocked, truly a wonderful surprise trip, my wife was right, It was awesome and I had so much fun. Will def do it again
Just Me
The ship and entire island adventure were excellent. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. When the boat lands, you can break off to the right or the left of the fort for a secluded walk but don't stray into marsh as there could be alligators. There are a variety of drinks and snacks on the boat and on the island. Umbrella and chair rentals are available on the island. There are tours of the fort. All in all, well worth the money!
Julie Kirsch
Nice accommodations, friendly crew, beautiful views!
Dawn Vienne
Loved Ship Island, Gulfport, today!! Been going since '84ish..Very professional and soooo relaxing. It's a great excursion..❤️⛱️🎣🐚🐬 …
MJ Wells
The excursion is fun and entertaining. Dolphins galore!! The boardwalk is a bit long and hot. And make sure you have shoes for the beach or you will be sorry. Chair rental was quick and convenient. Friendly staff and reasonable prices and day of availibility.
Freddy Doolittle
Long time coast tradition. Check out the new sunset music cruise and dolphin cruise!
D York
It is a great way to get to go to a beach that is actually clear. When we went it was close to $30.00 and we went from twelve to five. It's about an hour ride out to the island and once you get there they have a fort, snack and small items store and a bathroom. But the main attraction, the beach, is beautiful and the water is clear. And if you forget something don't worry you can rent tent/dual chair combos and rent inflatables, they also have some items in the snack bar like sun screen.
Jackie Carson
I'm in love! Great staff good value
Kita B
Workers are professional, make sure you arrive at least 20-30 mins before the cruise because they leave on time. Only thing I would suggest for the Sunset cruise is a younger DJ but other than that I had a great experience.
Georgia Barnes
It was a spur of the moment decision to stop in Gulfport Mississippi for the day, and we are so thrilled we did. It was suggested that we book a dolphin cruise with Ship Island Excursions: it was the best fun!
We (my husband Bob and I) are friendly and enjoy meeting new ppl talking to parents that had their excited little ones eagerly look out the span of water for a fin pop up. The kids on the cruise were so hopeful to see a dolphin, however we didnt see anything and it was time to go back. But the captain circled around several times waiting for the these graceful swimmers.
We were out sightly longer than the 90 mins but it was the best sound to hear the kids squeal with delight when they got to see the dolphins.
I think is says alot that the captain hung out longer to give these kids (and me) a memorable sightings that we be held in our hearts forever. 🥰
Ryan Baxter
This is a wonderful way to spend the day on the Mississippi coast. West Ship Island is a protected barrier island that is part of the National Parks so the beach is uncrowded and pristine, a great spot for a day out with the whole family. The trip is very pleasant with a good chance of seeing a dolphin or two and the historic Fort Morgan is a great piece of Gulf Coast history.
Rhonda Lemora
Saw dolphins as advertised! Enjoyed the ride. I got lost and called for directions and they called me back! How cool is that! Food was reasonable price and tasty. Will definitely return.
Melody Gillespie
Very well organized, even if weather was not as cooperative, too cool for actual swimming. Staff was very pleasant and tour guide was informative at the fort. We did see the dolphins and manta rays too. Water appears much cleaner there than in Biloxi.
Crystal Traylor
Saw lots of sea life that you wouldn’t necessarily see on the mainland beaches. Very relaxing atmosphere. Decent food at decent prices, definitely worth the cost if you don’t want to lug around a cooler everywhere. Very little shade around and it’s a long walk to the beach. Not as crowded as o though it’d be.
Joni Hitomi
An hour ferry ride out. I always see lots of dolphins the whole trip. Rent the chairs and umbrella, it's worth it bc it is a decent walk down the pier to the beach and lugging a bunch of stuff isn't fun. No glass bottles allowed. Bathrooms and a concession stand are available. Snacks and drinks provided on ferry. Beautiful beach and very well kept up. Old fort you can tour. We pack a color full of food and stay all day. We really love this place and the staff who run it are super friendly.
Rick Dalton
We did the 1.5 hour dolphin excursion - the captain and crew went out of their way to make sure the guests were able to have as many opportunities to see as possible. Recommend this highly!
Aaron Smith
You gotta go to Ship Island! The island is beautiful, and seemingly untouched, for the most part. I've read complaints about the beach having sticks and driftwood... c'mon people, it's called nature. If you're looking for fluffy white sand and crystal clear Caribbean water, this isn't the right place. But, it's beautiful in it's own right. The boat ride was very nice and the staff is super friendly. I highly recommend a trip to the island, and while you're there, take a long walk and enjoy the beauty that nature provides. We saw lots of different birds, fish, and hermit crabs. My family had a blast!
Kelly Bradley
Best Captain! They give a good experience to their guests!!
Donna Blanks
We took grandgirls on dolphin cruise. They had a blast. Dolphins galore. Captain would spot them and announce where to look. Concessions sold on boat at reasonable prices. Bathrooms available. Ship has 2 levels. (Also had inside A/C available).
Gaige Barrett
Staff was helpful in boarding the ship. No encouragement for social distancing though. Rained and stormed the whole time, so was confused why the ride wasnt cancelled. I am sure if it wasnt raining and storming this would have been a great trip.
Douglas Cherry
Be sure to take a trip to see historic Ship Island when visiting the Gulf Coast...a great place to kick back and relax!
Lori Paul
We had such a great time doing this! I had read all of the reviews and was a bit worried about the long walk that everyone was talking about. It honestly wasn't that bad. It took us roughly 10 minutes to walk from the dock area to the swimming area. I do recommend renting the umbrella and chairs, since there is no shade by the swimming area. There is a covered pavilion up by the food shack that has a lot of tables to sit and eat at. Since I wasnt sure about the visit, we road the later ferry over, but really wish that we had taken the 9 am and stayed all day.
Jan Doolittle
Can't go to the island until the State rebuilds the docking pier, but the Friday, Saturday and Sunday sunset music cruise is a blast. Great music and the view is incredible.
cory landry
If you are going to Ship Island to see the fort, make sure to ask if the fort is open on the day you make the trip. There was rain the night before our trip. We were not told that the fort was closed when purchasing the $100+ tickets that morning. I understand they do not offer rainchecks, but I feel like we should have been informed that the fort was close that day. The boat ride was nice, but not worth what we paid thinking we were going to get to your the fort. The beaches on Ship Island were no nicer than any other Mississippi beach.
Ally Slade
Very neat and historical trip
$29 is affordable for what it's worth. The island was so fun to see and much more private than the regular beach by our hotel
We saw several dolphins on the boat ride there and back and all the staff was friendly and helpful! My only recomindation to anyone going is don't bring a lot of bags because it's a LONG walk to carry them.
Also this island is much hotter than where you leave from in Gulfport!
Overall, fun trip we would take again!
Angela Rauch
This was a fantastic trip! Island is very clean and so beautiful! Birds are used to being fed so they are not afraid of humans. Walking out to sandbar we seen stingrays! Kinda frightening but now i can say ive swam with them 😂. Saw jellyfush and made memories! Food was great at snack bar. And prices are decent! So worth it! …
Keith Rasmussen
Hour long ferry ride each way, the island has nice sandy beaches to relax on and the old fort is worth a visit if you have any interest is history. Snack bar food was ok but nothing special. Most people brought food and drinks with then which I would recommend to anyone heading there. Ferry was clean and staff professional. If your military or retiree recommend getting tickets at ITT ahead of time to save a bit.
Dennis Conroy
My family had a great time at the beach. This beach is more open to the gulf waves than the MS coastal beaches. We saw dolphins several times from the boat on the way to and from the island.

DeAndrae Mosley
I LOVE THIS CRUISE!! ME AND MY FIANCE JUST OUT OF NOWHERE DECIDED TO DO SOMETHING ROMANIC AND GOT TICKETS WHICH ARE VERY AFFORDABLE. THE MUSIC IS AN AWESOME MIX BETWEEN R&B OLDIES WITH AN UP TO DATE TWIST ON THE BEAT. THE BARTENDERS ARE AWESOME ESPECIALLY MY NEW FRIEND GUSS. I MUST SAY ITS A MUST TRY FOR EVERY COUPLE. OH YEAH ALMOST FORGOT DOLPHINS AND AMAZING SUNSET VIEW.
Jason McClinton
Was a fun little ride. Just the right amount of time. Very friendly staff. Saw plenty of dolphins. Reasonably priced. Highly recommend for everyone, but especially families.
Shaun Hogan
Trip was canceled due to weather, talked to the Park Ranger while waiting an he was outstanding, did a great job answering all my questions.
Rhonda Miller
Absolutely beautiful! I love Gulf Port and Biloxi but the beaches are not the most beautiful. A ship ride to the island makes you feel like you have left Mississippi. The water and sand is perfect. The long walk down the pier is well worth it. There are many treasure to behold. It's a must to visit.
Mary Bordelon
We love Ship Island. However, the water was much dirtier than I had seen years prior. To be expected ig.
Brandie Smith
Two issues in an otherwise great trip. 1. The bathrooms were a mess, bad design. You changed in a puddle of water. 2. I wish the fort would have had more info signs to read. It would have been nice to learn more history.
Patrick Cosby
Darn island still closed during our vacation (stupid COVID!) so we went on a dolphin tour. Captain was informative during the trip and did a good job of pointing people to the dolphins as we passed. Friendly crew.
amanda stone
Traveled and booked a place because website said you are open. purchased tickets online only to find out you are closed. Found out through a delivery driver whose call you took while sending other calls to voicemail. I have a 7 and 9 year old who have been looking forward to this trip. Thank you for ruining the first vacation I've been able to afford to take my kids on.
Cindy Dennis
We went on the Blues Party Cruise expecting to listen to 'blues music'. It was NOT blues. We only recognized one song during the entire evening. The upper deck was way too crowded and extremely hot because of that. The lower was really set up for just relaxing to the music. The food provided was pretty good, but people were filling up plates like they hadn't eaten in a month! It was supposed to 'snack' not dinner. We were disappointed in how the cruise was represented as a Blues Cruise!
Scott Bemis
Boat is big. Boat is good. Island is nice.
Lara Guidry
I went here for the first time with my husband on Labor Day weekend. The ride on the ship was pleasant. It only takes an hour to get to the island, so you aren't on the ship for too long. We rented some chairs, an umbrella, and a boogie board. There were a lot of waves so we didn't really use the boogie board very much. There isn't much shade on the island, so the umbrella was worth the cost. The snack bar doesn't offer a lot of options, so next time we will definitely pack a picnic lunch. There is also a fort on the island to explore, but we ran out of time to do that. Will go again.
George Cookus (Atlanta_cosplayers)
I would not describe myself as an Aficionado of ferry boats, but I certainly enjoyed my ride on this particular one. The crew of The Boat were super helpful and friendly. If I had to make my way to Ship Island again I would happily use this very service
Cesar Zamora
Not really sure what all the fuss about is with ship island other than you get that private beach experience. Be prepared for a long walk to the beach once you arrive. The bathrooms were ok and the snack bar was pretty poor. The staff on the island and on the boat were awesome. We did see a crab and my daughter got stung by a jellyfish. The seagulls are super annoying and will go thru your belongings when your not looking! LOL
Kim Smed
Nice trip to 100 yards from our start point. Captain was obviously trying to keep people from being seasick but it was not rough. If it was so bad that hiding in the port was needed... Don't sail.
Connie Odom
I have been on the excursion several times now, in the past few years.
My family comes down from Missouri and we always do this together.
We absolutely LOVE it. The memories we create are PRICELESS and, the beauty is definitely something to behold.
Good clean fun for all and, I don't think the price is unreasonable at all.
One year, I overheated and was about to pass out, while waiting to board the ship back into the harbor but, as soon as they started boarding passengers, they let me right on, into the A/C and, I thought that was very good of them.
bum jug
ship island is great, the beaches are great and fun for the whole family. . unfortunately we came for the stellar crab watching and I DID NOT SEE A SINGLE CRAB. birds and other wild life, yes, but zero crabs...
five stars.
Nancy Bates
Wonderful !! 70's was perfect temp , don't think I would do it in the heat of summer at my age (60). They do have shade available, nice bathrooms and showers. We took lunch with us and plenty of liquids.
Jody May
Good ferry service. The refreshment lounge is air conditioned with light snacks and some seating. The boat is big enough where if you're prone to sea sickness, you'll probably do fine. Saw some Atlantic dolphins following alongside us.
Kline Pamela
Had a wonderful time, the ship was big enough to comfortably handle the amount of people onboard. The staff was very friendly, fun and knowledgable. Had a burger on the island, tasted very good and reasonably priced. Very enjoyable day.
Dawn Alfonso
Great time worth every dollar!!
Chadetta Blankenship
I have been on this excursion twice so far. Love the boats, the captain and crew, the scenery, the time spent leisurely relaxing. This is a must tour on the MS gulf coast. But, I must admitI did NOT see any crabsBUT there were two sharks in shallow water as I walked down the pier back to the boat. And THAT does NOT include the one a fellow had just cleaned from his fishing expedition. What a memorable time. Hope you get to jump on the first trek of the day as it is usually warmer and more humid late in the day. THANKS CAPTAIN!!!! And ALL the Staff at Ship Island Excursions.
shelby bates
The weather cooperated, the fireworks were wonderful, the DJ played perfect songs, I think everyone that went had a great time as I did
Gabriele Gonzales
You get the ferry ride and time on a beautiful beach. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available for $25 which is convenient but adds to the cost. The boardwalk from the boat dock to the shore is pretty long! Snack bar and facilities are available.
Damion Mitchell
So much fun! The staff is so very helpful and friendly.
Trevor Layhe
They have shower's and bathrooms. You do have to walk pretty far but it's worth it. The sand and boardwalk are very hot so flip flops usually aren't good enough to protect your feet.
Colby Banks
Ahhh man, great staff. Courteous, nice and helpful. The ride and sites are great. Peaceful yet thrilling and got to see some Dolphins as well.
djmedouble
This was a very nice Dolphin Tour. We saw lots of Dolphins which was very exciting and kind of surprising. We had so much fun that we're doing it again!
Kay Dockery
Loved it❤ We would definitely recommend... The trip was awesome && Ship island was nice🙂 You gotta go at least once!! Definitely worth the ride😎 …
Michelle Ann
Let me just start by saying i LOVE to be on a boat! Because of the stupid river draining so fast into the gulf the water is pretty much unsalty from Bay St LOUIS to Alabama. And so becuase of that the wildlife in the water is WAY out there. But i didnt mind the boat ride!!!! About 40 minutes out we finally saw dolphins! The captain was awesome and very specific and intriguing! Really had a great time!!!!! Would do it again!!!! Thanks cap!!!!!!
Kay Z
Very friendly and fair priced ferry service from Gulfport to Ship Island! The staff were very kind! Watch for dolphins during the ferry ride, and enjoy the stingrays while swimming at the island!
Lance Leis
You can't get paradise for this price like you can with ship island...beautiful beaches. History and education. Food and things you may have forgotten are fully covered. The state definitely takes great pride in preserving this best kept secret. Definitely worth every dime!
It's Me
Loved the relaxing ride to Ship Island, seeing dolphins on the way there and back, and the friendly crew!
Anthony Maes
Outstanding experience and a great and helpful crew. Highly recommended.
Dawn Combs
Dolphin excursion. Cruise out into the ocean and see dolphins. They weren't very active when we went out, but there were bad storms the night before.
I think they may be afraid of the large ship we were on.
Margie Walls
We went on dolphins cruise. Had a really good experience. And we did see dolphins. So exciting to see mom with a baby.
Stephanie Lawson
Great trip, definitely recommend watching the weather before you go lol. We learned the hard way.
Robert B.
Great experience. Loved the island. Snack bar was decent. Prices were not bad. Was a little bit of a walk from the dock to the beach but enjoyable once you got there.
Mukesh Chowdary Sunkara
Staff were friendly.
Loved the ship island beach.. Pleasant and not crowded.
Amy Clark
The Ship Island ferry is always great! Been using this service for at least 30 years & they run a tight ship. ;) Beach service & island snack bar have improved greatly in the last decade. The island bathrooms are the PITS, but they may be managed by NPS. Word to the wise: use the bathroom closer to the fort (by shaded pavilion) whenever convenient. Those are much less crowded and not quite as skanky as the ones close to the beach.
Linda Grigery
Actually went to Jones Park to walk through the amazing Christmas light display, rather than taking the ferry. Highly recommend the light show. I've seen many in various parts of the world. This was the best I've seen in the United States.
Stuart Soffer
An absolutely outstanding family day and worth the money. Took two grand daughters (13 and 10) on a pre-school vacation trip on a Friday to avoid any weekend crowds. Recommend visitors read ahead, do what is suggested (i.e., wear shoes on the ferry) and bring plenty of water and maybe snacks. Budget to rent a beach umbrella and a couple of chairs ($20) because you will need them. The sun was hot so ensure sun screen is used. No jelly fish but plenty of crabs in the water. However, they ran from people. Snack bar food was reasonable and the place was spotless. There are outside showers to rinse off the sand and salt. The entire experience from boarding the ferry at about 8:30 a.m. to returning to Gulfport was professionally handled by a great crew and shore-staff. If you are not used to being on a beach all day, recommend returning on the 2:30 ferry. The Parks Service tour of the fort was also informative. Some guy insisted on taking photos upon boarding under the pretense of "security" and those photos just happened to be available for sale upon return for $10. No big deal and a good idea in the event of an accident and a need to match up people with others they embarked with; and, just like the delete key on a computer, no one forced anyone to purchase a photo. Some actually did which is what free enterprise is all about. About the only negative aspect was my eye strain from having to look at all of the "eye candy" and trying not to be an obvious letch. I don't recall when we have had a more enjoyable uncomplicated day in a perfect family environment. Well worth the money and time.
Robert Crouch
This is always so much fun. The people are super nice and the Island is great.
Ashley Burd
Despite what the website says, you can no longer take folding carts on the ship. Staff was very nice however and had a small loaner cooler with wheels we were able to take instead of the yeti+cart
Kim Schaefer
Amazing island and never disappointing each time we come.
Kaleb Guillotte
I am an avid fisherman and i highly recommend you try it your self and bring a rod or two. I have caught anything from red snapper and sharks to speckle trout and red fish out there! Even though you don't have the freedom of your own boat fishing from the island is very productive! The cost is worth every penny!
Norman Lee Morris
I would highly recommend to anyone, local or visiting. A very easy and fun way to get to Ship Island. I first went when I was very young and will continue to go when I am an old, old man. Follow in the footsteps of Walt Anderson, or see Fort Massachusetts! Go now!
Manny Sifonte

This is a very relaxing and peaceful ferry ride to Ship Island.
....
I like to find black sharks teeth on the north side of the island and make a DIY souvenir with the help of a 10.00 necklace at Wal-Mart.
...
The NPS has HOT water showers at the bathroom near the snack bar.
...
And last but not least is the hamburger
..
'The Hot & Jucie "
..
This is cooked and put together by Stoycho, A Bulgarian Chef and Opera Singer.
....
For me, the ride, the food, and the good / safe experience make lasting memories
.....
Looking forward to my trip to the island in October. .
