Reviews of Zoo Boise
LADY RIGHTEOUS
Our Boise zoo is a fun place to enjoy with the kids and get a good walk in. It's hard to compare to some of the bigger zoos in other states and that's why I gave it a four star. Also because it seems that every time we go, most of the animals are not there. And this seems to be consistent. The zoo does have a lot of good activities that go on for holidays and field trips. They have a cute gift shop and good prices on food. With all of the high prices going on in town, it is nice to see that the zoo price has remained affordable.
Mark Smith
We had a little time before our flight home so decided to stop by.
Nice, modern zoo. Not huge but a good variety of animals. We especially liked the cats & giraffes.
Worth a visit.
Chantella Catelli
Go when it's warm! Many attractions are closed during the cold season making it hard to see the animals. Still took about two hours to see everything so it was worth the money. Very well priced compared to the aquarium.
Rhonda Lee
We had a wonderful time! Feeding the giraffes at the encounter was my personal favorite. So fun! The food and beverage choices for humans were nice too. They have gluten-free options. I enjoyed a slow pace without huge crowds.
Mark Button
Great little zoo! I visited in February and it was still a great experience. There are a great mix of critters to see. It is the perfect size for small children as you can manage the entirety in a day. There are a good number of interactive aspects which create memories sure to inspire a return visit.
Anne Marie Frandsen
We had a great time feeding the giraffes! All the animals seem very well cared for and happy in their enclosures. There are also plenty of benches and places to sit. There is no shortage of shade either!
Tomara Jackson
First time to the zoo and was super excited to see all the exhibits, unfortunately we picked the end of April to visit. Due to the cold weather several of the animals were taken off exhibit. We did find a penny collector machine in the area with the penguins, the penny's make great gifts (cost 2 Quarters and 1 Penny). Many of the exhibits had donation boxes so we got rid of lots of change we had on us.
Arielis Marrero
Impromptu stop while riding scooters with a small group. The zoo is really well taken care of and I think they give the animals and ample amount of room to run around and such. Admission was only $11 and we had fun! Thanks Boise Zoo.
Cynthia Gonzalez
🐒🦘We mainly come for field trips. I’m always bummed to see that a lot of the enclosures are closed. But either way we still have fun walking around and spending money on cotton candy and food! The kids like to play in the playground with the giraffe slide it’s pretty fun to watch them go down, just to circle around to go again!! 🦒🐘
Christine Walker
This is the zoo. It is the Best we have. I am sure it will continue to get better. The kids always have fun. There is nothing wrong with anything. It is clean. animals are well cared for. Always something to learn and new things to see. We will return many more times.
M Campbell
Price is $11 for adults age 12 and up. Kids 3-11 are $8. A couple new exhibits since I was there last (a couple years ago) including the alligator and otters. Penguins are always fun to watch along with giraffe, zebra, lions and red panda. The area where you could feed the animals was closed along with the reptile area, maybe because its early spring 🤷♀️. Kids had a blast anyways and there were plenty of animals to see. There is a carousel and small Cafe for food. Fun for the whole family
Lucas Baumbach
Lived in Boise 20 years and this was first visit to the zoo with our young children. I would rate very high compared to national zoos. Accessibility to the animals was excellent, often providing two access points to each exhibit and unprecedented viewing opportunities to animals. I was impressed. The children were able to get up close and personal to many exhibits due to the arrangement of the park. It felt intimate but also provided many features of larger cities like encounters and nice places to sit and enjoy a snack. Overall the park felt large and challenging to cover in one outing.
Lauren Kenison
Lovely zoo. First time we ever took my daughter to the Zoo! She had so much fun! They have penguins, giraffes, lions and monkeys. Some food onsite you can purchase if you like, and there also a fun gift shop inside the zoo.
Cafi
The zoo is a neat little place. It's just amazing to see these unique and exotic animals up close, and see their interesting quirks. The volunteers are so knowledgeable and can usually answer any question you throw at them.
I do feel bad that the enclosures are small and I feel for the animals there. But for what Boise has been able to accomplish with this zoo it is a wonderful experience.
Amanda Freeland
Events are fun for the little ones but seem to stress out the animals. $50 on food & was still hungry 🤷🏻♀ I'll eat before I come next time lol. Going on a week day when its not so busy is the best time.
**Entry was only free because of the event being held this particular day**
Jake Burgess
Fun little zoo! Don’t plan on spending the day as you can easily see everything in under a few hours unless you really want to take your time. Some of the exhibits are hard to see as foliage and some of the windows haven’t been very well maintained. The zoo definitely has room to grow.
Robynn Johnson
I have considered being a member, just because I love the atmosphere. It's a nice place to just stroll and enjoy yourself, it's clean, the animals seem happy and to have roomy enclosures, and the tickets and any extras like feeding the giraffes are not that high price. My daughter loves it, so do I!
Prithviraj pachal
Awesome animals at display, specially the snow leopards and lions are worth watching for hours. Penguins, wild dogs and lots of birds are there along with a collection of different apes. It's a great weekend visiting place, near the downtown. You can also feed farm goats. if you are there don't miss the red pandas.
Zachary Rand
Great facility that seems to take excellent care of the animals. They all appeared happy, healthy, and well fed. The signage and information is very educational and informative.
Cristian Arreaza
The Boise Zoo is a great sized zoo for adults and children. There is accessible and handicapped parking. The zoo offers wheelchairs and strollers. There are also several different shows and informational tours. One of my most favorite things to do is feed the giraffe. This is an interesting experience for everyone. I hope you all enjoy and support this beautiful local zoo.
Leo Miller
Amazing little zoo:) great family day out:) plenty of parking, and admission is not bad. I would definitely keep fluids on you to stay hydrated. There are no elephants, but they have African wild dogs and hyenas. They have an amazing snow leopard, and of course lions and giraffes. Either way if near Boise it's definitely worth checking out.
Pavel Viktor Boxan
Late season (end of October), but still lot of animals on outdoor display. Also a lot of attractions for kids. I did enjoy this visit.
Cristen Short
Really nice zoo!! I like how it is appropriate to both children and adults. Lots to see, fascinating animals, beautiful large enclosures, and very friendly knowledgeable staff. I only had two hours, but wish I would have gone earlier because I really needed 3! I loved the natural look of the enclosures, fences & decor as well. Beautifully done Boise!
Nancy Holcomb
I love going to zoos wherever I visit. The Boise Zoo didn't disappoint! Fun time and even fed a giraffe.
Caitlin Body
This isn't the best zoo I have been to. Maybe I am spoiled by Lincoln Park and Henry Doorly Zoo. It is so hot and the animals were either inside understandable or just laying around pacing. It is cheap to get into but it wasn't my favorite part of Boise. I liked Birds of Prey better.
Rich Petrelli
Love this place! Fed the giraffe. What a blast. Look out for the food aggressive geese at the restaurant! French fry mongers!! Had to park blocks away cuz of a fair they had in the area. I tried and tried to make the hyenas laugh but they ignored me.
Jill
Great zoo. I liked the layout and the types of animals. A lot of the animals were off exhibit when we came so we missed seeing a lot of them. I was sad that I didn't get to see the butterfly exhibit either.
Karma Kamil-Leon
I LOVE the zoo! It's such a fun interactive way to teach our children the importance of conservation and the responsibility of taking care of animals that wouldn't survive in the wild. My kiddos love all the activities scattered throughout the different enclosures, as well as the little park. The experiences are amazing too! We did the giraffe encounter while we were there, which was so fascinating! The Butterflies in Bloom exhibit was also exceptional! The butterflies land all over you and they are so beautiful! I don't care what anyone says, the zoo always will be one of my favorite places to visit with the family.
Mary Mitchell
Words cannot express how thankful I am to come to a Zoo that really seems to care for the animals here. Most were born into captivity and wouldn't survive the wild. The setups are really incredible and very homey. I've been to a few zoos across the nation and this one was pretty impressive.
I love the cafes and the little merry-go-round they have available for the kids right by the cart. I also appreciated the refillable water bottles already filled with cold water. It was 105 degrees yesterday so that and the lines with mist were VERY appreciated.
The kids had a blast here. The one thing that can be improved is adding a shade to the giraffe slide/kids play area. The slide was super hot!
Alexia Ducanois
I was surprised the entrance fee was only $9 and it was well worth it. They had some adorable animal and it was a good 1h walk around the park.
Donna Scholz
Hadn't been to the zoo since they added their new African area. Nice job. Really enjoyed feeding the giraffes ($5/person). Had a chuckle at the Hornbill who was proudly displaying his dead mouse as he posed and paraded on his perch near the people watching him!
M&D Couture
I am mostly disappointed that there where not many if any at all employees to talk to. I wanted to know more about certain area for a project but there was no one to talk to. Also some of the animals seemed stressed and sad.
Israel Sanchez
Not the greatest zoo I’ve ever been to. There was about a 50/50 chance the animals were going to be visible and even then some of them had been removed due to the construction. Lots of the exhibits looked like they had seen better days, lots of dirty glass, faded paint, and some parts taped off entirely (presumably because of COVID)
Overall the experience was just okay. Staff was friendly enough, restrooms and other facilities were well kept, but the animal viewing experience proved itself to be fairly lackluster.
Elizabeth Nichols
So cool to see all the amazing animals! They seam to be well cared for 😊 the butterflies are so beautiful and show you just how amazing gods creation is!! Had such a great time 🙂 great place to take kids and the they even have a carousel!! …
Ricj M
I really like the new atmosphere the feeding of the giraffe and the times to feed other animals clean and professional staff well put together will continue to visit this establishment in the future.
Michael Ward
The animals were as cool as I remember when I was younger. The people working there are nice. Though I went when it was colder outside it was a nice walk and I saw the tiger and lion.
Jessica Cook
We had a great time at this Zoo, all the employees are so helpful and nice. Wide walk ways makes it nice to get around. We have been to countless Zoos across the country and their walkways are the best along wth San Diego zoo safari Parks.Their Enclosures are nicely done and the animals are eager to say hello and meet you. We are from CA and we enjoyed our day and can't wait to go back
Dark_A_Shark
They got a lot more animals who seem to be enjoying their stay. Just a bit sad we didn't get to see any of the big cats besides the lions. Other than that it was a great place to go for a date or family trip
Todd Maguire
This is a pretty decent zoo. Lots of interesting animals to observe. you can easily enjoy the entire zoo in only a few hours.
Carina Krippner
Thursday has a discount day! Great walkable zoo next to park. Lots of things for kids to play on. Animals were active and easy to see even on hot summer day. Zoo had misters to cool us down.
Lauren Mleczko
Such a great experience!! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Solid lunch menu for families. Great park size for walking with little ones. I highly recommend a private animal encounter, if you can. Our guide, Lauren, for the Giraffe encounter was wonderful and the girrafes, Jabari and Tabari, were delightful! Can't wait to go back and I will be looking for opportunities to support their causes.
Kelly Michalak
Great zoo! Clean, animals well taken care of, lots of activities for the kiddos and even if you don't have kids it is still a great place to go. Not overcrowded either. Close by the greenbelt for a nice stroll. Walking distance to a beautiful rose garden and park as well.
Rajesh Kariya
after almost a year or so of waiting, we finally were able to visit the butterfly exhibit. extremely well maintained and a must visit in my books. they also have a new tiger. all and all, the Boise zoo continues to grow and improve.
decent zoo and we have a season pass. but disappointed recently that many sections are open only at certain hours. missed the butterfly exhibit a couple of time although it says june through aug, envy the folks who have posted butterfly pictures 😊overall still worth a walk about and enjoy the animals.
Tina Richards
Great time with my sister and 15 month old Grandbaby. Food was over priced for a burnt tiny hotdog in a big bun..not many people there which made it nice. People were nice and helpful...got a lil shocked when the people who prepared the food mentioned Octavia? Had COVID...that was not a good experience hearing that..
Shannon Holt
Zoo Boise is such a cool and unique part of Boise, and is a very popular place for tourists and locals alike. I volunteered here a couple years ago and it was an amazing experience. The giraffes were my favorite to care for. They are so curious of humans and are very sweet animals. Bring your family, friends, or even a new date here. It’s the perfect place for a good time.
Martinis Angels
A bit dirty, overgrown & lot of empty cages. The animals we were able to see looked pretty good.
Married Wonderland
Wish they had more animals out and about. The giraffes were fighting and slamming their necks and heads together over a fence and that was a little unsettling.
We had no idea that they had strollers or electric handicap scooters until we exited and saw them all lined up. We could have used them both for this trip.
Christy Senger
See the red panda early for activity! This time of year was great to see the snow leopards active too!! Never got this close to a lion before!!!! About 2.5 hours of time to see it all. Very nice zoo!!
Mary K. Spears
We go to the Zoo for fun with Myplacesce.org
This visit was a small one with only 63 people.
Everyone enjoyed seeing the animals and the spring sunshine.
Kacey K
We fed the giraffes. The staff was super helpful and sweet. The park was clean and pretty quiet. We had a great time.
Kristel Koukoua
We were grateful the mist sprayers that helped us cool off, and though we were sad to miss several exhibits closures, overall, we left the zoo feeling educated. We did love the butterfly exhibit the most!
Michael Steward
Enjoyed the visit to the zoo. The animals seemed healthy and we're active. The staff were extremely friendly and the food was both tasty and fairly priced. Well worth the time and minimal cost.
Penny Layne
It was really cold and there were hardly any animals out which is understandable but we had fun anyways.
Natasha Mattison
Fun place to go lots of things to see. One thing I dislike is the fact there's no parking and who wants to keep going around till someone leaves.
Be nice to see them growing all there fresh veggies for the animals. I personally would love to see the land tortoise to have water in its area. Yes they don't swim however they like to take the occasional dip in it.
Jamie Carrell
They've added many more things and remodeled since the last time I've been. Our experience was very pleasurable.
Lei Loni Keele
About half the exhibits had nothing on display. I understand some animals are nocturnal and others may have not wanted to adventure out yet, but many animals that were on display were under veterinary care. Also there are very few maps to guide you through the park. Some of the better exhibits were closed completely. Staff was extremely limited. I saw more people running stands that taking care of animals. I literally saw one women taking care of ALL the animals and another lady following her around talking her ear off but not doing anything to help. The animals don't seem to have any enrichment and pace alot. This zoo has the makings to be a great zoo but is large, confusing and under staffed for animal needs.
Ashton Seaver
We love coming here as a family, we come at least once per month and enjoy learning about the animals with the kids. There’s a lot of shady spots to sit and eat lunch, and the membership pricing is really great too. We got the family +nanny pass and and didn’t have to pay out the arm for it.
Nick V
We hadn't been to Zoo Boise in years and wow... what an amazing transformation it has had! So fun and so many things to do... especially if u have little kids! And the Cafe makes great food served fast with great customer service! If u haven't been in a while or never been, go check it out!
Bryce Ungersma
Visit to Zoo Boise was a nice addition to our 2-day visit as we passed through. Very reasonably priced and was a good value. A lot of the animals were not present, perhaps because we were there early in the morning. Didn’t get to see lions or tigers but the rest of the park animals were awesome! We really enjoyed the butterfly exhibit and the penguins. The Maned Wolf was cool as well.
Garrett Green
Nice little zoo! It was super hot the day we were there, but there is lots of shade and water mist tents scattered around. Loved the butterfly 🦋 area, and Sand Cats, Zebra 🦓 and giraffe 🦒.. and the Red Panda ❤️ …
Rochelle Wafer
Perfect size for my daughter's first zoo trip, very walkable. There were quite a few exciting exhibits and interactive signs. A lot of animals were still away for the winter but that didn't dull the experience. There's lots for the kids to play on, my daughter loved the carousel and the komodo dragon model. We'll definitely go again.
Susan H
Love the zoo. Have had to skip the butterfly exhibit the last two times. I was so happy it was open.
Naniko Nalinko
The animals were all so cute and the butterflies were very photogenic. In one area I even got to play peekaboo with a monkey. All in all an amazing zoo. I had fun!
Mark Jones
This a smaller center city zoo. It's a great place for kids and families but not the best place to see a wide variety of exotic animals. The staff was very friendly and informative.
Yuriy Т
90% of enclosures are empty. They are basically charging $11 adults and $8 for kids for a walk through a park. So not worth going right now. If they actually bring some animals might be a nice little 4-5 star zoo.
Jared Wallenmeyer (ut90j)
It has some fun animals, but the facility needs a lot of help to be on par with nearly any other zoo. Looks like they started to do good things back 20 years ago and didn't keep up with it. The price is right at 12 dollars, but the people of Boise deserve better. Maybe raise prices to 18 and make it special.
Christopher Travis
My son took me to the Zoo Boise for a combination of the HOWLiday PAWlooza event our traditional Father's Day trip to the zoo
The Zoo Boise is small-ish by some people's standards, but I found it to be cozy and a wonderful way to spend my Father's Day with my son.
Admission was reasonable even if concessions were outrageous.
All in all it was a good zoo and a great day.
Joni Mansfield
The weather was perfect, it wasn't crowded, majority of the animals were active.
marlene weis
Great walk on the perfect day! Just wish more exhibits had creatures in them
Raiden Smith
Had a very lovely time with my older brother at BCAF yesterday. :)
Melinda Campbell
Had a great time with family and really enjoyed the animals. Butterflies in bloom was wonderful as well!
Maria Harr
Fun, clean and full of interesting animals. Very nice variety. Also full of geese, which were loud and annoying.
Some enclosures were on the smaller side and had few interactive elements within for the animals. Hopefully more support and funding can lead to improved enclosures.
Unfortunately all indoor exhibits were closed due to Covid measures, but the low entry fee more than makes up for that. I'll definitely be back.
Aubrey Johnson
It was a zoo. Nothing too special but was super fun to go with my family. Tickets were very cheap, at least compared to other zoos, with general admition being about 11 dollars. Great place when you're needing something fun to do.
Mohammed Z Islam
My favorite place to stay in Boise. This hotel may appear a little outdated compared to other big chain hotels, but it is quite a value for your money. Free breakfast, free drinks in the evening, hot tub and the gym is what I utilize while staying here. For evening drinks you get 2 coupons for every evening, the bar has beer on tap, wine and snacks, this offering is unique, and rare. Breakfast is average, you do get omelet or scramble eggs made to order, that pretty much all I need for breakfast.
JP Chastain
What helpful and friendly staff! Alex helped us feed the giraffe and was so kind! The butterfly exhibit was amazing, lions were missing but that's it! Good times.
Tyler Morse
Love the zoo and the activities. Went first thing on a winter morning so not a lot of animals out. The events at the zoo are amazing like the boo at the zoo, or breakfast w Santa.
Lyubov Belobrovchuk
We spent a day in Zoo and we liked it👍 …
Taleka SescoSmith
I loved to see the animals but were very concerned for them because many were not in their exhibit and some of the animals seemed very unhappy. The boat tour was shut down too which was a downer, but I had a good time seeing the animals that were available and wish the best for them because some were so sad
Kevin Jernigan
Our family enjoys Zoo Boise a lot. However, this past Friday I was very disappointed in the lack of ADA accessibility in regards to entering and exiting buildings as none of them have accessibility buttons for opening the doors. I was pushing a client in their wheelchair and it was very difficult to open the doors, hold the doors open, and get the wheelchair through the door ways. How can one of their newest buildings (exhibit with the baboons, crocodiles, and otters) not have wheelchair accessible doors?
grossem2 Gr
For a small town zoo this one offered more than expected. So fun for my family. And my five year old cried when we made him leave after three hours there. Good times
Joe Gillis
Good place to visit good selection of animals. During this visit a third of the zoo was closed for maintenance or animal checkup. And as far as Ada standards, viewing is limited for someone in a wheelchair due to shrubbery and high fencing. I address this issue 2 years ago and they said they'd look into it nothing has been done
Peggy L Misner
The zoo has become a wonderful African experience. Built with human resting spots. Cooling areas.
Joshua Rundle
Zoo preschool was a great time! Savannah was awesome and did a great job leading the preschool. We had an opportunity to see two servals and my son had a wonderful time here.
Joshua Pignotti
It's not a large zoo but very fun nonetheless.
Lance Peak
Great little zoo. Lots of things for little kids to enjoy and good information on the animals for older kids to read. They did an awesome job during the really difficult times of COVID. You do still need to reserve time slots so make sure to call ahead or jump online.
Gwenn
To experience the zoo with a grandchild is like seeing the experience through their eyes.. to do this again and again can only get better. We loved this time together.
Craig Lowary
Nice little zoo for the community size. I would recommend attending special events like Boo at the Zoo which increases the activities available for the entire family.
CDaKidd
Lots of interesting animals to see at an affordable price.
Devan Lennon
My family had an absolutely fantastic time at the zoo. It's so big and the enclosures are all so so so nice. There are inside and outside ones when it's cold and the prices are AWESOME!!! They have season passes that my family will definitely be getting. There's also an area that's fantastic for kids with a little play area and what not. Great for adults and kids
VERONICA ROMAN
Cute zoo, easy to walk through in the afternoon.
Star Shine
We always have such a good time here. The living quarters for the animals are much better then expected for the zoo size too.
David Roberts
Not the best small zoo we've ever visited. It seems to suffer from lack of funds, perhaps due to the Covid epidemic. There were a lot of weeds growing and there seemed to be some wear and tear on the exhibits, as though 10 or 15 years ago, the city or some donors had invested money on upgrading the exhibits, but not enough to maintain them.
The animals seem well cared for. The best part was the monkeys and the giraffes. Unfortunately the zoo doesn't open until 10 am, and by that time, it's already hot on a summer's day and many of the animals will be resting in their homes out of sight.
Lloyd Walker
1st week of April. Many exhibits not available to view. My granddaughter spent less than one hour in the zoo. We saw what we could, she liked what we could see. I was disappointed.
Mandy Ungersma
What a fun place to see animals! We loved walking along the paths to see up close the animals in their enclosures. We were bummed not to see the lions or tigers out and about but we loved the butterfly exhibit and the penguins!!!
Faviana Arguello
I really love the zoo but didnt get to see all the animals as much it was so busy due to boo at the zoo ! Very fun !
Lily M
We love going to our zoo. The entire zoo is designed to be visually beautiful. It’s very picturesque as you walk around looking at a lot of information and vast variety of animals, birds, and reptiles. Has so many fun things for kids to enjoy, a safari area with a Jeep to climb on, along with safari exploring equipment. There’s a fun hut and a couple areas with slides, fun animal structures and just so many attractions to keep you entertained for hours. Has an unexpected fun bonus of a carousel not far from the entrance which our kids are obsessed with. There’s even a place to feed animals. :) highly recommend for a fun day.
Jerimiah Campbell
I love the Boise zoo. I know it's smaller and doesn't have a huge variety of animals compared to a big city but it is still lovely. They take great care of the animals and are always updating enclosures and variety. You can book birthday parties and private animal encounters. They do overnight sleep overs for kids and a lot of events throughout the year. They work diligently on conservation locally and abroad. Very cool Little zoo. I go at least twice a year.
Ess Garza
Love the zoo! It's not super huge, but it's definitely worth checking out. They have a lot of animals. It's fun for the kids.
Ms Keating
Lovely zoo! Looks small from the outside, but is surprisingly large as you walk around. So many unique animals to see and very friendly staff and docents. Definitely recommend checking it out and supporting them.
During Covid, Zoo Boise created a one way path, or maze, to take you through the zoo. All playground equipment is closed currently and indoor exhibits have been closed temporarily.
This being said, it is still worth a visit and worth the cost on occasion in my opinion. My little kids loved it and still had a blast. I probably won't go back until it opens up a bit more, but the lower crowd levels and animals make it worth a trip there at least once. When Covid regulations start easing we hope to become annual members here.
Andrea G-Girl
The layout leads to one dead end after another so we ran out of time to see everything. Also, most of the animal enclosures were just sad and desolate looking. This is the 21st century but most of the exhibits seemed very out of date.
Ride or Die 22
Nice little zoo, only cost about $10 per person. It is a half day adventure, you can feed the giraffes but it is at specific times so check the website for times. They were building new enclosures when we were there in June 2019 so there may be a bit more to see now but it is worth the trip if your in Boise.
Wying Silvestri
It was okay. Some of the habitats could be cleaner and bigger, maybe even brighter as long as it suits their natural habitat. They were depressing to see in that state. Some of the glass was so dirty. I believe the best ones were there newer more open habitats so hopefully they will look into upgrading the older ones so the animals can enjoy a cleaner environment. Otherwise it was okay, some different animals I've never seen before like the sloth bear.
andrew woodruff
Great zoo experience for a town like Boise. Tough to catch all the animals in the winter, but most of the exhibits have been improved to allow for viewing the animals in an indoor environment. All the exhibits are clean and it's clear the staff and zoo association care about their animals.
Johnathon Fuller
Boise zoo is always great but they could have organized that a lot better but thank you voices you for putting it on and taking care of the zoo animals
Steph
The map is easy to read and updated with the new exhibits. There is a cute playground inside, a gift shop, carousel, and a petting zoo. Be sure to check out events like Painting With Penguins! So much fun and you get to take home a unique gift. You can feed the sloth bear and giraffes! It is an amazing experience! The Giraffe Encounter is available daily from 1:30pm – 2:00pm. The Sloth Bear Encounter is available for the first 25 visitors daily from 2:30pm - 3:00pm. They also do animal presentations which are fun
jacqui schaning
Most of the exhibits are closed because of Corona virus, I was excited to see the new crocodile exhibit but he wasn't out. I still had a good time with the family like always when were here.
Gwen Purcell
Went to the zoo today. There is so much to do there. We did get through it in a couple hours but we rushed through because we got there two hours before they closed. I love all the exhibits. The girafe, penguins, monkey, and farm animals were the highlights for my son. Lots of photo opportunities for the kids. We enjoyed every bit of the zoo. Perfect weather for the zoo today too. So much fun! Admission prices are really reasonable! And Thursday is even cheaper!
Summer Balmer
Nice that their updating the zoo. Glad changed so much from when I was little. Very intriguing water feature.
Matt Rush
It was a hot day, most of the animals were inside. They did not have a large selection to begin with, but the coolest part was the otters!
Amy Vecchione
From Gorongosa to Zoo Boise - this place does a great job. We love visiting, especially our favorite otters, Ginny and Harry.
Jennifer Franklin
The updates are beautiful and such great staff and volunteers. The price is affordable for families. And I always feel like the other guests are polite during busy times. We saw a tiger, lions, sloth bear, giraffes, the butterfly exhibit and so much more. Take money for the carousel, feeding the giraffes (1 and 3pm??? Double check those times before going...) they also offer discounts days! Maybe Thursday? Their website is usually up to date with all the info!

Nice location, friendly staff, and awesome up close exhibits, but parts of the zoo are definitely looking a bit under serviced. The newer areas look amazing but you can see that Covid may have taken its toll on maintenance.
Raphael Kepinski
A nice mix of animals that you get up right close too. Also this thing isn't some giant hike that you have to spend all day at. Nice reasonably priced; a good place to take small kids for an fun experience in the afternoon, see everything, and leave before they get too squirrelly. Lots of construction going.
Frances “Fry” Sutton
Spring 2021 - a lot of the exhibits are closed because of covid(?) or the animals weren't in their enclosure because of temps. Masks are required but without enforcement people will do what they want. Still had a nice day with the kid and will always go back... just going to give it awhile before I do.
Amanda S.
We went on their free admission day on December 1st. It was so nice to get to visit for free but it's worth paying to visit too. It's my favorite during spring and summer but was still pleasant despite the cold. They have a lot to see here. Doing some construction so some exhibits were closed.
Marah Sendoza
Always fun for the kids. Very clean zoo and the animals seem very well taken care of. Staff is kind and it's big enough to feel like you have had a workout as well as had fun. We had a great time. Some kids were here for the first time and it was awesome! Thanx Zoo Boise.
Drew Lynes
This zoo is on the smaller side but it's really fun. There are a few bonus things that make here great for small children: a couple of slides (free), tunnels under the groundhogs (free), an area where you can feed goats ($0.25 per handful of food), a carousel ($1/ride & includes ride for accompanying parent), and twice a day they allow visitors to hand feed the sloth bear or giraffe ($3).
Will Oestreich
Small zoo that is easy to navigate. While there wasn't an excess of animals, the displays allowed close encounters with the animals. Petting zoo keeps children on one side of the fence and animals on the other. I like direct interaction where the children and animals are together. I went in late fall. I'd like to see ther lagoon full and boats operating.

This was our second trip to Zoo Boise and our FIRST EVER BOO AT THE ZOO. We arrived about 10 minutes early and the main gate line was long but they opened up multiple entrances to ease the wait time and it was an excellent idea. All staff members, volunteers, and booth venders were absolutely wonderful and made it an enjoyable time for our 2 year old as well as my husband and I. The Zoo did not feel crowded and everyone was very courteous and polite. We enjoyed the new Baboon, Crocodile, and select reptile exhibits. I just wish there was a little bit more explanation on the study of Lepidopterology but the collection they had was BEAUTIFUL. I have been to quite a few Zoos and Boise's is by far my favorite.
Andrea Alverson (Andi)
Such a great little zoo for Boise. When it's crowded, it definitely feels a bit crowded on the sidewalks, but most people are nice and flow well. Their free days are so amazing for the community. Definitely recommend for visitors.
Alyssa Hearn Designs
Really close and intimate. Always seems to have quite a few exhibits closed though even pre-covid and.more now because of that. Price does NOT REFLECT CLOSURES but it's very nice inside.
Tabitha Perkins (Tabba)
Was great compared to the last time we were there. Penguins were there this time they have a tiger again and a crocodile was really cool
Kristi Lentz
What a perfect fall day to hang out with the animals at the zoo. I got to feed a giraffe named jimaca which was so cool. Then I fed a sloth bear named podge some meal worms such an awesome experience and all the animals seemed to want to pose for me. Best day ever!!!
garcia andrew
Finally some new things at our Boise zoo.covid still has alot of exhibits shut down.but it's looking like it's gonna be alot better!
Fuller Family
We had a blast at the free zoo day. We just moved to the area so it was the perfect day to check to Zoo out. They are doing a ton of remodeling so I cannot wait to see that when it is done. The zoo is small but I think the remodel will help. Also it was super cold so a lot of the animals were not out and some were moved due to the remodel but we still had fun. We didn’t eat there but checked out the prices and they are actually very reasonable and the food looked good. But we do like that we can also bring in our own food too. We can’t wait to go back.
Russ s
I love the zoo. Unfortunately when we went on mothers day some of it was under construction. But we still had fun. Another thing I noticed was that the exit is now through the gift shop. Which I'm fine with because I always get my kids a suvinear anyways, but there were a couple other families that i over heard complaining about it. It is a little ridiculous that you can't exit another way if you wanted to.
Josh Soriano
Very educational, plus all the conservation they do for Gorongosa National Park is something worth supporting!
Karissa Montgomery
Had the best time at the Boise zoo a couple of months ago. It was my first time going to Boise and didn't even know they had a zoo!
My boyfriend and I were just walking exploring this beautiful park when we saw a giraffe statue behind a fence, but then it moved! It was real and in a zoo! We followed the fence to the entrance and had a wonderful day viewing the animals!
Ty B
We rode our bikes to the Zoo today and loved it. We recently relocated from Miami and are loving Boise. The zoo here is not that big but it is so well laid out and packed with super cool exhibits and Animals that we were blown away. Boise is such a great city and the Zoo is a must see attraction.
Jonny RoBato
Nice Zoo. A lot bigger than I expected. Definitely worth a visit. Also, right by the rose garden and the Anne Frank memorial.
Bryce and Rachel Perry
As a zoo, it's okay. The restrooms are small. I'm hoping to be able to write a better review when the new portions open in July 2019. We got a membership, hoping to enjoy it as much as other zoos but I've lost interest in returning until there's more to see or do. The slides and play equipment is a really nice touch for taking younger kids to see the zoo. The slide near the monkeys is fantastic because you can look out on the monkeys from up high.
Daniel n Erica
This place is one of our quick road trips we like taking. They aren't a huge zoo but they do have a great variety of animals and aren't expensive. They just opened done new exhibits and have done a great job with them. We recommend Zoo Boise to any zoo lover!!
Kayla K.
This is an adorable zoo, and a lot bigger than i thought it would be! Wr walked arounf for over 2 hours and still were not able to see all of the animals before my son melted down. We visited in the winter so it was not very busy at all, though we are excited to come back in the spring when the animals are more active. Plus this is right next to the discovery cwnter so if weather turns bad then you have someplace to go!
Richard Scott
Live in oregon but been here alot, last time I went was with my kid on a school field trip. There's usually always new little creatures or animals and over all great place for the kids. It usually has an option to vote on what 3 different animal or creature Lol that if it wins it will be brought to the zoo to be seen.... Main reason lighting 5 stars is the gift shop there is only 1 or 2 things you can get that are less than $5 in not being maybe a postcard its tiny or I'm actually not sure but if money is not an issue you can buy stuffed animal you could get out of a club machine for 50 cents to a dollar for about 20 to $60
Jeff Bennett
Fun for the whole family. When you first arrive the zoo may look quite small, but it's surprisingly big with lots of animals to see. Also they have several events the throughout the year that your kids may love. Towards end of sorting they even have a free day that's a whole lot less packed than you would think. Highly recommended.
James Mcardle
Awesome zoo. It is currently going through some construction, but almost everything is still open. Tons of neat animals.
I liked the giraffes most. Whoever is taking care of them is keeping them happy!
Robert Larson
I have been taking my wife and kids to Zoo boise there whole lives. I have been a season pass holder for over 20 years and watched the changes and they just keep improving the facilities now I get the luck to take my granddaughter also the season passes work at other zoo's they would give a list when you get it if they dont just ask they are very accommodating
Riley Phone6869
Really like the zoo, it was small but very nice. can't wait to return to this zoo, it was very clean and staff was very welcoming us to the park. Will return to this beautiful garden, it had a pond to paddle boat around. The birds are everywhere in this park. Can't believe this is not really advertise around the cities.
Natalie Acheson
A nice zoo with lots of animals. We enjoyed seeing one unique animals, especially the two toed sloth! They were also doing a lot of construction that looks like will be amazing when finished. Seems like it's an older zoo but the animals seemed well taken care of. We enjoyed our visit here.
W G
My visit to the Zoo was great. The staff are incredibly nice and helpful. The exhibits are well maintained and the animals seem content. My only complaint is that we came in later afternoon and they were already putting animals away. I wish they would do that after they close. It is really cool to have this experience here in Boise.
Cyn Thia
Zoos in general are kind of sad. Just my opinion. Two days after my visit the tiger died. She had back surgery but she still had problems. So they put her down BUT she was about 15 years old, the maximum tiger age. If she had been in the wild she would most likely have died at a much younger age! Zoo Boise does a good job with what they have and they obviously care about the animals. They also plan to expand. Lots of kid friendly things to do like a carousel and animal encounters. You can also have a zoo sleepover.
Michelle Platts
Who doesn't love the zoo? We do hope the penguin exhibit opens again soon, it's our favorite.
Jason M (The Happy Campers)
Enjoyed our visit at Zoo Bosie. Exhibits and layout of the park was well designed. Food stations and petting yard was lots of fun! Our group had a great time. Follow our adventure (see more photos) via Facebook or Instagram @ Happy Campers 227 as we travel this beautiful country full time.
JJ Meyer
Pretty nice little zoo. Some exhibits were closed but there was still a lot to see.
Rebekka D. G. Hansen
In love with this zoo! I can't wait to be able to come visit again. The zookeepers and staff take such good care of the animals. I noticed that EVERY SINGLE animal has an enrichment object. Even the snake had a cut out lucky charm box! Children have made drawings of their favourite animals and the drawings are displayed at the animal exhibits. There are stories about the animals, facts, and signs for the animals that are under veterinarian observation. There's so much love in this zoo. My best zoo experience so far. And then there are squirrels everywhere! what's not to love. Easy favourite! Can't wait to come back❤️🐿️
Mike Fox
A nice zoo similar to our own city zoo.
They were offering a discounted day on and so it was a bit busy during our visit.
We’re we’re here very early in then season so as-expected, quite a few of the exhibits were empty. It is a pretty zoo though and I can imagine the landscaping is very nice in full blown summer.
Worth a visit if you are in town.
Joel Walden
A nice beautiful zoo, way less crowded than one might expect it to be. Doesn't have tigers and elephants, the big animals you might expect. But I hear they will be at least getting a tiger soon. It's a very green zoo with lots of trees and landscaping. The exhibits seem close together which is nice. (You still get a good walk in though.) Family membership is less than I've paid at the Seattle and Salt Lake City zoos.
Tox LionTamer
Love this Zoo. They are all about wildlife conservation. The animals are very well cared for. In face I was married here. We rebted out the entire zoo and it was absolutely beautiful and amazibg for all the kiddos.
Misty
The Boise Zoo has a lot of different animals, reptiles, etc to look at. It's a good small zoo.
I think the zoo charging $5.00 for half a piece of a leaf 🍃 of lettuce is completely ridiculous. Green leaf 🍃 lettuce costs less than $2.00. So for the zoo to charge $5.00 for half of a leaf 🍃 & we didn't even get an outside piece of leaf. We got the leaf that is deep in the middle & are small. Each little piece we got was barely long enough to fit in our hand & hold up to the giraffe. You get 3 little pieces. Now if you want to charge $1.00 for the 3 little pieces I would pay that.
Unfortunately they don't seem to motivated to make sure that each of the animals are more in their natural habitats & have an actual place to run, hunt & play. They seem more motivated in building new places to house new animals. They should be more like The San Diego Zoo. The animals have acres of land for the tigers, lions, hyenas, rams, etc to roam naturally & run if they want. I understand that the Boise Zoo has a certain amount of space & so they are trying to give the public what they want. I just personally believe that they should have the space they deserve.
Siva Kumar
I liked the red pandas enclosure.
Many animals were not available due to winter. Winter is not the best time to visit.
Erin Ogden
Love the Boise Zoo. The large and open enclosures for the animals and the current construction to grow it more than it was before. We especially love the summer months with the butterflies in bloom exhibit.
Josh Standley
This place is great, even with the current covid response the zoo is structured really well, I didn't feel like I was too close to anyone. Did miss out on the indoor exhibits, but they just got a new tiger named Diana. Very cool.
Josh Hill
It was really amazing. The changes they made to the zoo made it really more worth it. I got to see a lot more of the animals and quite a bit of new ones.
Cameron McGinnis
There are a lot of cute and fun animals to see here. I would recommend checking out the Red Pandas and the Capybaras. Great place to visit with kids.
Generation Narwhal
I can't believe how expensive it is to get into the zoo: $15 for an adult and $10 for a child. It would be worth it if they had great animals and exhibits, but usually half the animals are hiding, and a quarter of the zoo is under construction. I am always underwhelmed by what you can actually access here. The animals you can see, usually some small cats, birds, and the giraffe, are good but their living areas seem really small. It's almost impossible to park on a summer day, so definitely don't
Steve Nottingham
Best little zoo. Feed bears and giraffes. See penguins, monkeys, lions, jellyfish, turtles, zebras and such. No local fluff animals like chickens and deer. Just the good ones. Go to the zoo. You'll love it.
Lethie Masongsong
Not crowded! Good variety of animals to see. Most animals seemed well cared for. There were a few attractions unavailable due to the temperatures not being ideal enough yet for them to be brought out. The scenery/design of the park itself feels so natural, creating a serene environment to enjoy.
Vic Medina
It was cold so some of the animals where gone ...best to go during summer to get the full experience
jordan case
Lots of fun for the kids and adults. They have a couple interactive exhibits like feeding the sloth bears. They also have a play area that the kids can go on.
Andrea Bird
We were pleasantly surprised with the variety of animals. Our kids loved feeding the giraffe. It says $5 but that is not per person it is $5 for the little bunch of lettuce, 3 kids fed if for $5. Lots of people when we went during spring break but it did not feel super crowded. Great location right next to a really nice park. Would reccomend to families with kids.
Claudia Cuccureddu
The zoo was nice but some of the cages were empty probably because of the construction and renovations going on. We had a good time and the children had fun.
K Rose
Nice zoo! Even in February, though many of the animals were inside, it was a nice place to take a walk and let the kids burn off some energy. I think it would be better in the warmer months. It took me about 1.5 hours to survey all I wanted to see. The facilities were nice and well maintenanced.
Michael Verdin
Great diversity of animals! We spent over 2-1/2 hours there in 100 degree heat. Well worth it in my book. Reasonable fee to get in and plenty of shade to stand under.
The Donk Life
Small Zoo but fun. I wouldn’t wAste money on Boo at the Zoo or any night time/past dark events if you want to see animals.
Valerie Paxton
Lots of closed exhibits but we saw a fair number of animals and had a nice walk. Great value at $11. $8 for seniors 62+. Loved the sloth bear!
David C
Had some fun coming here with the party I was with.
Did seem a little quiet in respect to the attendance numbers and animals seemingly ready to call it a day. It has been very warm these last few weeks and I'm sure that they either enjoyed it or ready for it to cool down.
4 stars as it seemed like there are several areas that was not open to the public for various reasons. I'm sure that they would have liked to have them open, but couldn't.
Not trying to sound negative either, but it almost felt like they are coming to a close as people are not actively attending as much. Which would be sad for future generations.
Karla Rogers
We LOVE Zoo Boise. Interactive exhibits with a llama, goats and sheep. The butterfly exhibit (when open) is AMAZING!!!
Reasonable prices on food and drinks for a downtown attraction. Benches at every exhibit for resting (my parents love) 3 bathrooms located throughout the tour.
Staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and visibly present throughout the zoo. Animal exhibits are clean and well maintained!!!! Parking is reasonable and there IS a loading and unloading area at the front for handicap, strollers, and elderly.
Taylor Simants
Always a wonderful experience. Wish there was more staff around to ask questions about the animals but other than that it is perfect for the kiddos!
Hailey Brennan (Qwill Brennan)
It was pretty quiet today mainly cause of covid. The zoo is a good place to take people I mean its a zoo so that gose with out saying. They added a gorgosa exzibit some years back which is pretty cool. I got to feed a giraffe which was fun. I should let you know they are currently doing construction on the warthog exhibit possibly adding a new watering hole. So if you see cranes in the enclosure they arnt part of the zoo. And thats also why the zebras next store are upset (normally they share with the wart hog.)
Other then the giraffe feeding, the have the butterfly garden in the summer which is a very nice experence, the spooktacular which I have yet to go to, and other events. They also have the carosel for little ones, and the boat ride.
I'd personally say the boat ride is so-so its cool, but short. Also be aware that not all of these are open for reasons involving the pandemic. And make sure to ware a mask. I went their on a day thats normally not very busy but is can get crazy some times.
Have fun at the zoo and say hi to the sloth bear if you see them.
mely mad
Many animals are not out because of the weather, but we haven't been back in a while and it is pretty cool to see the updates & new exhibits.
Luna Moon
As someone who has visited many zoos, as a zoo in a caoital city, this zoo was just ok in my opinion. It was 93°F when we went and the animals seemed very uncomfortably warm. They didn't seem to be doing anything to help cool them down. The habitats were so so and the only animal we saw that looked content was the tiger. I think this zoo could definitely use some freshening up. There's potential here but I think there's some attention needed.
Sarika Khanwilkar
I was so impressed with the brand new Gorongosa National Park section and really appreciate learning about all the conservation work happening in Africa by Zoo Boise associates. I was pleasantly surprised by the sloth bear, native to India, and the culturally relevant enclosure. The snow leopard enclosures were not impressive (4 stars). The covid precautions make visitors walk one way through the zoo.
Timothy Lillie
Great spot for toddlers, even when chilly outside. The kids I was with loved penguins and the alligator in particular.
Alexandria Kearsley (Alex)
As someone with a passion for both Idaho and wildlife, this zoo is very near and dear to my heart. An easy 2 to 3 hour experience that keeps me going back several times a year.
Roland Serb
Great place if you want to take the kids. Not as big as other zoo’s I’ve been to but still something for Boise. The rain forest section is probably the coolest part of the zoo. The other areas it just depends if the animals are sleeping. Which it seems like they always are the past three times I’ve been there. Staff is friendly but don’t approach you unless you say hi. Over all it’s a fun experience for the kids. Other then the kids I wouldn’t recommend for a date night. Not much to do for adults.
Sharon G
We loved the variety of animals! I just wish the exhibits were cleaner. The giraffe's were in their pens eating but it was hard to see them because of the dirty windows.
Sarah Scanlon (Scanlon Mama)
Very small and terrible layout but wheelchair friendly.
M Hernandez
Great place to take your kiddos on Sunday. Check out the Carousel ride for $2.00. The 2 gals usually there are great with kids.
Samantha Bee
I was happy to see the animals that were actually out, and I'm happy to pay the small entrance fee of $11 to help the zoo, but this place is clearly suffering. Half the exhibits were empty for different reasons. Some of the animals were so sad. The tiger paces back and forth with a limp, her water pool evaporated and disgusting. I literally cried. I saw a goat limping, the sloth bear looked super super sad. The animals need companions and more space. Very depressing. I'd rather $25 to enter and see animals with companions and the care they need.
Shauntay Sauer
We visit this zoo every year (as we live 3 hours away) it is always a good time. This year we were excited to see the new tiger and butterflies in bloom. We even got to see the mained wolf get a treat. We always stop for the giraffe encounter, however this year it's was a horrible experience. We were rushed, and Claudia (the woman handing out the leaves) was extremely rude to my husband and daughter. The experience left a bitter taste. I am extremely disappointed. The only redemption was the very nice young lady that we complained to at the front who tried to help make it better. I hope hope Claudia's fired, she has no business being around people.
Adam White
Very nice zoo in the heart ❤ of downtown Boise. And the cost is reasonable. My family took about 2 hours to see the whole zoo.
Cody Craven
I've been to many zoos and this one is by far the best!
Marcee C
The zoo is bigger than it looks on the outside. There is no designated patron parking.
jillian ross
Great little zoo! It was midday and super hot (95 ish degrees) when we went, so a lot of animals were hiding inside but we still enjoyed it
Randall Price
It was alright for a local zoo. Lots of exhibits we're closed the viewing windows especially on the giraffe barn were absolutely filthy and covered in fingerprints and hand prints plus a lot of unidentifiable goo. On the good side the screening and vegetation give a totally different feeling than being in middle of the city.
Ingrid Vandenboorn
I'm giving three stars because the snow leopard and servel cats were in such a small cage. Absolutely no place for them to run around 😞. Other than that it's a great place to visit right in downtown Boise area. …
Hannah Shea
Our experience at the Boise zoo was outstanding!!
My 3 boys are very energetic and in a constant state of motion, they need something fun that can keep up with their busy little lifestyles.
The zoo had so much to offer that even as my little ones ran around as much as they could there was always something to captivate their attention or even help them pause and reflect.
There are learning experiences and hands on exhibits for busy little fingers.
And new and exciting opportunities galore😁
There is even a sweet little carousel with all kinds of animals to ride on.
My children got to pet and feed a llama, goats and sheep for the first time.
The animals were very gentle and mild tempered.
Although the weather was a bit wet it didn't bother us in the slightest.
There were both indoor and outdoor things to do.
We got our faces painted and had a popcorn snack.
We saw giraffes, bats and even a big lion very closely.
There were a lot of up and coming exhibits so we can't wait to go again and meet the new animals and experience the fun all over again.
I do hope you go on a fantastic zoo adventure for yourself 😊
Lindsey Bryant
My kids always love it here. I love that the animals are rescued. The layout of the zoo is great and it's perfect for a family outing.
Marilyn Stermer
Great family experience! We were sad that feeding giraffes was not open but we look forward to returning once that is available. The butterfly garden is fully open though!! That was great too!!
SCH Travel
If you love zoos then you’ll love this one! I try to visit every zoo in every state we visit and this one is no exception! I had a great time! Sad they didn’t have magnets though (I know, who complains about magnets 🤷🏻♀️) the tiny 3d elephant puzzle they sell are pretty great though! Me and my husband enjoy putting it together …
diane barone
Went to the improved comedian show and had the best time and And lots of laughs where worth going to
Jackson Baumgarten
Loved the zoo last March when I went for my birthday. This time however I was slightly disappointed on how many animals weren't on display. Either they were being relocated or were sick. I know it's not the zoos fault and I still had a great time, just wish more animals were out to see.
Tamara Paulson
The Boize is an excellent family outing. The price is $10.50 for the adults and much less for the kids and seniors. They got bathrooms and shaded walkways and playground for kids, gift shop, food. They got various animals and butterfly exhibit. I would totally recommend this place for any one.
Clemmie Patterson
I LOVED this zoo! I have been to quite a few but I loved the feel and how the exhibits were laid out. Such a great selection for a smaller zoo and they are in the middle of expanding. Definitely coming back to see what they add!
Tyler
Many great improvements the last couple years.
Heidi G
The newly added area was AMAZING! I'm not sure what my favorite animals were, but me and my kids loved it! I definitely recommend it. Butterflies in bloom was absolutely magical! Check out when the $2 Tuesday promotional deals are, if you'd like! It's a great day to take a group.
Mely Garcia
We had a good time, I wish we would of had more time to look at everything there ,but sad we got there at 340 and zoo closes at 5pm.
Emily Strong
This is a great zoo. I'd love to see Gorillas added to the map here. I loved seeing new rennovations in progress for some habitats and the smiles on the faces of the employees. Thank you for caring for these wonderful creatures. ❤
Hanzo “LEO” Kai
Came here during the late fall so some of the enclosures we're close because it was too cold. Still had a fun time with my kids and girlfriend walking around and looking at all the cool animals.
Life Begins With L
I love going to the zoo! This place is very clean and the workers are very nice! Currently the zoo is under construction which means no Zebras, Hyenas, monkeys, etc. etc. Which was kind of disappointing, but future visits are looking good! Im excited to see the new additions. I feel a little like Cersei Lannister and wished it had elephants 🤷♀️
Alec Felmlee
Went to the Brew in the Zoo event- amazing activity! Staff was very knowledgeable and engaging, the zoo is well laid out, and everything is super well run.
Rochell Daniels
Small zoo all spread out. Parking is horrible. The exhibits are small but fun. Feeding the goats was my kids favorite part.
Jason m
It's been a while since we went to the Zoo, really love all the new updated habitats and all the old ones! Will be taking my family much more often.
Steve Young
I really liked the zoo here. I'm from out of town and really enjoyed myself quite a bit. I got there before it was too hot, but was able to see hyenas play and fight over food, saw amazing large cats (my favorite), and the Sloth Bear. That thing is super adorable and loved watching them feed it. I'd take her home if I was allowed.
Terri Hawks
Amamzing I love the penguins and cabyratas
Lydia Brown
Very cute place! Giraffe encounter is a must
David Sidwell
Not a large zoo, and most animals were unseen, but a shady, lovely place.
Jaxxton Clayton
It was a lovely way to spend a fall afternoon. They have added so many exhibits since I was last there. I was impressed!
Jigish Shah
A wide array of animal exhibits, with an African boat ride, kids' farm, butterfly area & food/drink.
** Good for Kids **
Elaine Kelley
We enjoyed it, but it needs to be cleaned as in weeds and all that...not just out side the animals pits but where we walk.
Angel Blackwell
Most any zoo is great for all people , we went on a hot day and during luncg/nap time for all anmial friends who reside there!
Deanna P
Zoo Boise did a wonderful upgrade to it's park. We visited on 7/24/19 and were pleasantly surprised since last time we had visited which was a couple of years ago.
Jenelle Kemp
You get what you pay for here. Very small zoo and many exhibits are closed and empty. All the keepers are friendly though, and it looks like the animals are well taken care of. For the low cost of entry it's worth a visit, just don't expect to stay more than an hour or two.
Frank Thomas
Zoo Boise is a small urban animal park that manages to feel bigger than it is AND community centered at the same time. They've hit on something VERY special with a youth centered volunteer program. A pleasant and knowledgeable young man helped us learn about the Mongolian history of "Rolling the Bones" (ankle bones of horses, sheep, etc. as a means of forecasting the future). A couple of teens assisting with the butterfly enclosure were friendly, engaged with the subject of their exhibit, and (near the end of a long hot day stationed next to unpleasant smelling animals) took extra time and care of my little ones.
With the single exception of a young woman at concessions who was, "too busy" (her words, not mine) to assist with condiments on a lunch order of nearly $100 - and who is to say really, maybe she was - Zoo Boise was a great day from admission to "Exit though the gift shop".
Travis Bair
The zoo is great. There are many exhibits that are being constructed and the zoo is constantly growing. Its no sandiego zoo but for $10 its great to go for a couple of hours. My girls loved feeding the Giraffe.
Craig Baker
Very small zoo with limited but standard selection of animals. They are consistently growing and expanding. Great potential in time.
Kelsea Skaggs
We are so excited to explore the new exhibits when construction is completed. It's always been a fun family outing and it's just going to get better!
Levi Claussen
Fantastic zoo for the population, many beautiful animals, and very helpful staff. Be sure to check in with Mr Mac and Tugal when you visit.
Tony DeFilippis
Several exhibits were closed. There was supposed to be a boat ride, but there was no one there to run it. Overall, outdated and dirty. Experiences, which cost extra seemed to be overrun, being that they have such a limited time. But the carousel lady was really nice, and most employees were friendly.
PC Game Video's
Friendly, take care of animals, plenty to see and do for a small zoo. Reasonably priced. Great on conservation.
V Rod
Wonderful zoo. It's intimate and clean, the animals are all well taken care of.
Lanita A
Best fries 🍟 in town 😋. Great flow through with the pandemic and all the exhibits were active. …
Chris Bohannan
Medium size zoo with many great surprises. Warthogs, anteater, komodo and tortoise exhibits were our favorite!
Josh Williams
Took the kids to one of the Hallowe'en evening events and they all loved it. The zoo did a fantastic job decorating and offering a fun and safe experience for families during COVID.
Lety T
Make sure to take a map to not miss anything. The new exhibit is awesome. My kids loved it!

Lot of empty housing. Some animals were a no show, or non existent. The glass of nearly every exhibit was covered in handprints and smears. I know, it's a zoo. It just looked like it could use a bit more love and care. The butterfly exhibit is fun and fascinating. Would have been a shame without that!
Kyle Evans
It may be a smaller Zoo compared to others, but the staff are very friendly and it is a nice place to walk around. Enjoyed my time there.
K G.M.
Awesome place for family time and to let the kids run around learning about the exhibits they have. Love it here because it's both indoor and outdoor exhibits and my kids did not want to leave! So kudos on making the exit on the side they looked forward to the most with all the candy and fun toys to purchase. We had an awesome time that 2.5 hours felt like only half an hour. Can't wait to visit again!
Zayia Lloyd
I always loved the zoo growing up but now it just makes me sad. The animal enclosures need to be better maintained along with the park in general.
Nearr Legend
A cute zoo! It's little on the small side but a good place to take the family & make some memories.
Brandi Dannielle Burr
Great animals, it's not real big, but it was a nice place. Staff was real friendly and the animals were lively and not all asleep that was cool.
Erika Land
We went specifically for the butterfly event and I'll have to say I was very surprised with this zoo! For only $10 there are a lot of animals to see. All the animals looked well cared for. We will be coming back here for sure!
Steve Raftery
Nice little zoo, good variety of animals, friendly staff. Only downside was the snack bar was closed 1hr early and the tiger was at the vet.
Thomas Rubatino
Compared to the other zoos I have been to, this one is beautiful and so much calmer. The parking is amazing! It’s the perfect family zoo.
Crystal H
Glad to have this little gem in Boise. We love the zoo! As a family of 8 who spends a pretty penny to enjoy this attraction, if half of your exhibits are closed, you could adjust your admission rates accordingly?Disappointed in our President's Day visit.
Jason Bowers
Wonderful and vibrant colors, sights and sounds make this Zoo an enigma of an experience. Different from any Zoo you can imagine
Jeremiah Feicht
My family and I absolutely loved goid zoo. The website made it seem like it would be small and unimpressive but it was good size, had lots of animals and was very well maintained. And we were there in cold season when not all animals were out. I'd love to go in summer. I highly recommend this zoo, it is not terribly expensive and a great resource. It did not have a lot of the larger animals but it had some and they were all fantastic. I hope I will get to go again door time.
Issa Maalouf
Very beautiful zoo! There are different animals such as giraffes, lions, hyenas, wild dogs, vultures, zebras, wild cats, birds, geese and other animals... I didn't have time to see the rainforest because they close it at 4:30 pm. There is a boutique where you can buy souvenirs I bought a sweatshirt! It was a good experience!!! It is highly recommended!
Joshua Greer
A small but great zoo! Although it wasn't very big it had several habitats and all the animals were unique and interesting. They habitats seemed spacious for the animals and they appeared well cared for. Would definitely recommend.
B Bakeries
My favorite two animals were the editor and the African wild dog. Obviously the red panda was a close third as well! It is wonderful to see a zoo focusing on rehabilitating animals as a key charter. This is a great place to take family members and loved ones.
Jason Fish
I'm not sure why I had low expectations but it appears so small from the outside. I was very wrong! For its size, easily the best zoo I have been to. Superb staff who is very knowledgeable - two red pandas (so rare) and so many different kinds of monkeys which my boys really loved. The highlight had to be the sloth bear which I had never seen before.
Zoe Hanna
Fantastic experience, animals looked well taken care of and great views of said animals
John Griffith (John)
Great for the family, much better when it's the spring especially in June when the butterflies are in. Extremely respectful staff and fat squirrels with no fear.
Tim McClanahan
Well organized! Fun animals! Kids had fun!
Steven Reaves
Great little zoo
Kimmy Hollis
I have lived in Idaho my entire life . When I was really young , maybe 3/4/5 I remember this zoo contained animals that could be found in Idaho . The zoo was able to substantiate these animals really well ( big horn sheep, mountain lions, deer , elk , etc). I want to say in 2008 there was an expansion to add African animals to Zoo Boise. While this is pretty cool to see giraffes and lions in Idaho , I do think that these animals could do better off in a warmer climate especially with Idaho's cold winters . The zoo needs to downsize the amount of animals it has and make the exhibits larger for them. As well as contain animals in the zoo that CAN survive in Idaho's climate at all times . The animals look sad here. I get that this is not a world class zoo and won't look or feel anywhere close to the Portland Zoo or the San Diego Zoo , but this zoo needs to understand that they can't store fricken hyenas in 25 F degree weather
Jon Wissler
Small city zoo. Obvious areas that could use some upkeep attention. Landscaping lacks a well tended appearance. Can be seen in 2 hours.
Rachel Franklin
Been awesome to see it continue to improve and expand. Great place for families, very clean. We were lucky to see a lot of the animals awake and out. Food is a little pricey
Michael Humphrey
I was so impressed with this zoo! It looked kinda small, so my expectations were low. But it ended up being an awesome experience! Spent over two hours here and enjoyed every minute of it. Would definitely come back here again!
supriya kodali
Small but a good place to spend a day. I would recommend to book tickets online so you can skip the line for tickets at zoo.. and they went paper less with Maps, but we can easily find it in website or just take a pic of the park map at entrance.
Shelby Lopez
Great place, loved all the new exhibits. Definitely will be coming back here with the kiddos!
Justin W
We are locals, we love our zoo, if you compare it to other zoo's around it definitely is not the same. Normally I would have put 5 star's, but on our last visit, there was a lot of exhibits under construction, so some animals were not visible, which would have not been a problem if we had known. We had checked the website prior to entry but did not see anything noting construction. To be fair, as mentioned earlier, for the size of the zoo and location it is a good little zoo, nothing super exotic, but good for my elementary age kids and below. Summers can get busy but we went on a warm fall weekend morning this trip.
Kelly “KJ” Jo
It's a small Zoo and a lot of the animals were off exhibit or "under vet care". This Monkey basically sums up our visit but we will return to see the Butterfly Exhibit after it opens!
Daniel Gardiner
We hadn't been to the Boise Zoo in about 2 years and man was there a lot done in that time. Absolutely stunning and new animals. The staff is always great and friendly. Can't wait to see what new stuff is in the works.
Highbrow Dude
I proposed to my girlfriend here on Sunday. They helped me by using their speaker system. I was so grateful, our first date was here when we moved out here. Its symbolic to us. We love this place. Thank you Boise Zoo for everything!!
Heidi Gibby
It was good! I went with a group of adults--no children, and we had a good time. It was the morning, and it was cold so at first, most of the animals were not outdoors, but several started coming out throughout the visit. There were plenty of indoor ones we could see as well. There were a few buildings and exhibits closed temporarily, which they probably chose to do now because it's winter, but there was still plenty to look at and see.
Shannon Sharrai
Wish they still had the grizzlies and the camel. Maybe one day they'll add a polar bear...but we had tons of fun even if there were empty exhibits. Over all it's a very fun and enjoyable experience for the little ones...♥️♥️
Melissa Cortes
Update - the zoo is back in full swing. We went this morning and many of the animals were awake and moving.
The Boise zoo is so lovely. Even during COVID my daughter and I had a great time.
John Cristea
We went to the Boise Zoo before Christmas last year. Our son had a great time even thought it was cold.
Lela Beyer
The zoo today (3.13.22) was great, very few people due to the weather. Lots of interaction though with the animals.
The reason I did not give the Zoo 5 stars is that some of the animal exhibits are filthy. Like the penguin habitat. I have been to many zoos around the states and have never seen one that looks like that.
Come on Boise residents and zoo staff let's do better, let's get these habitats cleaned up. Tell us how we can help besides money.
Nickolas Gurley
Always fun to walk through the Zoo with the family, sad to see there is very little here anymore though. Reptile area is several small enclosures in side great big ones. Other then the Komodo Dragon, it's just a couple Green Tree Pytons and a Claim King snake.
Chris Tucci
A smaller zoo, Zoo Boise makes up for it with well designed exhibits, though often the exhibits feel too small. The price is low enough that it always feels like a value. If your planning a day out the zoo should be part of it, is smaller size and cheap entry make it something that doesn't have dominate the schedule of the day.
Danny Denato
We saw like 30% of the animals, and that's a generous estimate. $11.00 is cheap, but we barely saw any animals. Plus there's not much activity besides the animal exhibits.
Elisha Leavitt
We have a membership and love going at different times of the year to see different animals active.
Barbara Cooney
Visiting family and we all went there to just unwind.
Great time. Animals are ok, they were hot but the facilities are top notch. Definitely would go back. Plus in a huge park setting that was so inviting.
Melanie Charlton
Love the zoo can't wait to see it again
Sammantha DeVore
We just got a family membership. It was really easy and we had a great timeit want to crowded, there was construction going on but that just makes me even more excited about the membership because I can't wait to see the new exhibits.
Christina Titus
It was as I would say just ok, I get it was being remodeled at the time I visited but it was pretty bland. Not very much to look at and the layout is a big confusing. Definitely avoid the penguin area if there are a lot of people there, when we went there was absolutely no one in their controlling the crowd. The maximum capacity had been filled and most of it was screaming children banging on the class, and the design of the room makes it echo and makes it worse. Just be advised it is probably not worth it to go until after they remodel it .
Jo
Nice little zoo. Do be aware that there are several exhibits and animals that are not currently available to view.
Austin Dickey
My two older boys love going to the Zoo. Staff is always friendly and knowledgeable about the animals. You can bring in your own food and drinks and enjoy them in the pavilion area.
Masks are mandated inside and for animal interactions.
We have purchased an annual pass, and it was a great investment. We go twice a week sometimes. Happy place to be.
Nicolette Kimmel
We've been Zoo members for several years. We came the first summer we moved to the valley and have loved watching the evolution of the exhibits.
Johnny B.
The zoo was great! One downside was there were only one of a lot of animals. Except the goats. There were a lot! My neighbor has goats, so it wasn't spectacular. It was awesome to see animals that I don't get to see in person. The other thing was some animals weren't out because of weather or because they were being cared for. My daughter and I loved it and we had a great experience!
Christine Marie
Love love love our zoo. Love how all the care givers take care of all our animals. Pens clean, always have good available and enrichment toys to play with.
Tanner Mathy
A lot of school kids working/volunteering, which is awesome to see! Learned about spider monkeys from a nice girl.
Omar Gomez
Nice zoo, but the cages seem a bit small for some of the animals. Hopefully they grow some of the areas for the animals to have more space.
Angel Doss
Would of been better if it wasn't so hot. The animals stayed hidden.
Sean Bowman
Loved it we got to go in after the zoo had closed. It made it so enjoyable being for just donors and vendors
Amber White
My family enjoys the interactive zoo displays, and the animals. We always find fun creative things to do and can't get enough...we bought a family pass so we can visit over and over.
J C
Delightful zoo with some big surprises. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I'd call it a must do in Boise.
Christopher Larson
Super accessible, clean, and a fun to visit with our little children. Can't really compare with most large city zoos, but the giraffes and lions are a favorite.
You can walk through the entire zoo in ~3 hours.
Krissy Cary
Love the Zoo.
Always a fun time.
I wish there were more signs around the exhibits.
Also id be helpful if they offered a map.
♡
Patty Erickson
So much fun! Celebrated all the holidays. Fun morning with lots to do.
Mike Bleck
The grandkids enjoy the experience.
Clean environment, some open venues.
More local animals could be nice.
Kathryn Brown
Zoo wasn't very busy, but not very big either. Many of the exhibits were under construction when we were there, so maybe they'll be more to see next time. Some of the enclosures were dirty and the glass in most was very dirty. We had a good time, but there's some work to be done.
Nicole
The newly remodeled areas are great! Lots of hands on learning experiences and add-ons. You can feed animals, do a cruise in a boat. Great local zoo
A R
Since it's cold outside, most of the animals are either somewhere other than the zoo or they are held up inside their enclosures to stay warm. We only got to see maybe 10 animals on this trip. Maybe a different part of the day will be better?
Sherri Klob
Wow, have they updated the zoo!! Great habitats for the animals. Such a fun time and great place to grab lunch too!!
Houston Crudele
Me and my wife had so much fun at this Zoo. The animals were very active making it a fun unique experience.
Rodney Smith
Nice smallish zoo. Spent a nice leisurely 3 hours seeing more than we expected, but, obviously less then you'll find in Seattle or other metropolitan zoos. But the price was super- reasonable!! I would absolutely recommend this for a good time with kids who didn't have expectations of the "super-zoos". 2 "must see" items for your visit should be the butterfly exhibit and the otter/monkey exhibit. Whoever put these 2 inquisitive creatures together was a genius. We could've watched this show ALL day long!
Gerik Fon-Revutzky
Meh. Two big areas under construction, so hopefully will be better in the future.
But, currently many animals missing, many in small cages which is just sad to see. Monkees that were there were behind very reflective glass, so you could barely see them.
jr graham
Great activity for the kids and nice range of animals to see
Turner Harris
Absolutely love the zoo. It’s always a good time, and is open year round. The giraffes are one of my favorite animals they have.
Jennifer Frazure
Spent 4 hours at the zoo thinking it would be 2 hours. There is a lot to see. The nsture
Finley Butler
It's really cool how they work with Gorengosa State Park in Mozambique to promote wildlife conservation!
James Hennis
It's that time of year where animals don't want to be outside. So I got to check out some animals inside as they were more likely to be available to see.
Sarah Steffensen
Pretty nice little zoo for the price and the ice cold water was definitely a bonus. Saves me from the heat. I'd come here again
Kasey
Overall was fun, however I did not see the map pamphlets for people to use while there. The new set ups for the park makes it seem a little more open and the signs saying if the animals were moved for weather or just moved their habitat in general were easily readable.
Nicole Casey
Our family had so much fun at the zoo! This was a first for our kids and there were so many different animals, we all enjoyed it thoroughly!
Koda l
Had so many cool animals I really recommend going if you are close. Plus it's really cheap.😊 …
Steadfast Private Investigations
They have some great animals but it seems like there is a lot of transition going at the zoo.
Shane Tipton
Loved ever turn every moment seeing every animal and watching the family have just as much fun as I was having made it worth so much more then the money we spent can't wait to go back with the family
Stephanie Hudgens
Not the best zoo I've been too but they're upgrading and trying. It's great for the area it's in
Anna Abbott
Zoo Boise is always a welcome stop when I am in downtown Boise. Spending time and seeing the animals from far and wide I would never see normally is wonderful. The park and animal enclosures are well maintained.
S A
The zoo is small but it’s a fair price.
P Z
Beautiful zoo, the African section is great and the conservation efforts are amazing.
Ben
Great zoo. Saw most of the animals even during January. Will come back again!
legend_of_zapdos
It seems like there's always a lot of construction going on whenever I go, it's a little inconvenient and haven't been able to see all of the animals I've wanted to but over all it's still been a positive experience every time
dmhuntsman
In process of building new exhibits so some animals weren't available to see but many were.
Parley Bates
Lots of fun at a private event! Face painting, food, and the animals are great. The Capybaras tried selling me a timeshare so avoid them at all costs
Lisa Olaveson
It's not humungous yet but has a good variety of animals. More to come when construction is finished. We can't wait to come back. A lot of fun for the family!
Eric Cash
Currently about half of the exhibits are under construction but seems like a very nice small zoo.
D Cow
A lot of construction and parking issues when I went so that's why the 4 stars but I'm sure once that's finished it will be very good. They let you know what your money is going to as far as conservation efforts and feeding the sloth bear was educational and fun!
Kiz Leppert
I have 4 teens and we had a blast. We haven't been in a few years and we are looking forward to going back this summer for the butterfly exhibit.
Tabatha45 Morris
i loved it took my nephew and got to see some good animals but it was so cold most of them where inside. on the good not we seen a giraffes purple tongue
Mitchell Oliver
Cute zoo with lots of animals to see. Be mindful of when you go though because the zoo staff started cleaning up and shutting exhibits down over an hour and a half before closing. The butterfly exhibit was closed at 4 pm when the zoo closes at 5 pm. We got there at 3:30 pm and the whole time we had to navigate zoo staff trying to shut things down way before closing. They made us feel rushed as we saw them cleaning and talking about shutting down for the day at every section of the zoo.
Loren McGinnis
I take my preschooler to Preschool Zoo on Saturdays. So much fun! Kids get to learn about a new animal every week, doing crafts, looking at "bio-facts" and seeing the animal they learned about in person. Zoo has a lot to offer for a city this size.
Andrew H
Lots of interesting animals and a good walkable route. A few animals I haven't seen other places. As with most zoos, many of the enclosures are a bit small and the animals don't seem to have enough stimulation or enrichment as shown by a bit of pacing back and forth, and worn paths.
Scott Garner
Went for the first Easter Sat at the zoo. Took the grand daughter. We had a great time. Lots of friendly people. Fun to see the animals .
Heidi Ware Carlisle
A great place to visit with the family. You can see just about everything in a short enough visit that the kids aren't too tired out by the end. My favorite part is the signage showing all the conservation projects that have been funded by donations and proceeds from zoo admission!
Louis Ruth
The Boise Zoo has been around since 1916 with several updates. After Boise Zoo expands and updates this will be a nice place to visit and learn for the kids. Keep in mind that Boise is one of the fastest growing cities and with that will be a Zoo make-over. The staff here are friendly and helpful answering questions as they come. I am a photographer and love visiting each time, for a new adventure.
Steve Rogers
A great small zoo, fantastic use of space, excellent experience!
Raven Feather (NiNja)
Fun days at the zoo. Always neat to see the caged animals that rather be out in the wilderness.
Elisha Kaska
Clean park with great information. Large exhibits and a great education and conservation program. The Sloth bears were my favorite.
Patricia Williams
Such a fun place to learn about many animals we don't see everyday.
Thomas Snow
They close a lot of exhibits during the winter and a lot of the zoo looks like its under construction. Fun for kids though
Earl Chandler
It is a great place to come and visit fir the day. All the workers and keeper are nice
Jill Campbell
Still a fun zoo, but in the middle of remodeling so some exhibits are not available.
Charles Hagood
Amazing and unfortunately covid has made it even easier to take my three kids to the zoo!
Derrick L.
My son loves it here. The staff here is friendly and keep it clean the animals look very healthy and happy most of them running around playing. My son thought they were hilarious.
E A
It was an azing time over there. They had some cool animals to look at. Though the giraffes seemed a little preppy and stuck up. Like they looked down on us. And the red pandas kept trying to talk me into freeing them for " favors" the lion wouldn't even look at us but I guess it's cause he's a king and I'm not royalty
Ben C
Great weather today! Very comfortable. ALLof the bird exhibits were closed as a lecaution against bird flu! There were LOTS of kernals in the kettle corn.
Milly Paulson
Nice city zoo. During Covid it was nice to see the zoo open.
Laurie Black
It's better than when we went months ago.
And I can see they are trying... But its a small sad little zoo. The butterfly 🦋 exhibit was nice.. but small.. and wall to wall people.
Kids also liked the penguins. …
David Schenberg
Such a sweet zoo... we enjoyed how perfectly the zoo has procured every animal from Lion King! The Meercat actually poses for photos.
Amberly Smith
The zoo hosted a free comic event and there was no admission charge
Haley Cardoso
Visiting from out of town(CA), Zoo Boise was an ok zoo for its location. Some of the animals had small enclosures. Some of the cats were pacing back and forth. It kinda has a weird layout. And we had to ask for a map. I kinda wish there was a map when you entered and around the zoo showing you were you were or which way to go. A little confusing and back tracking. Also, they had toys at the gift shop and info exhibits around the zoo on animals that weren’t even in the zoo.
astryd savage
So many cool animals to see! My children love this zoo!
Juanita Gomez
We haven't been to the zoo in Boise since 2018. They were still under construction.
Construction is all done and the zoo is amazing.. it's big, and really nice! We really enjoyed our time there. We were there for 3 hours!
Mrs. Sanchez
Worst Zoo I’ve ever been to!!!!!!!! 2 animals out at the whole zoo! Ridiculous! Highway robbery happening here! Every door was locked to see animals it was so sad to drive so far for this place!!! If you like to look at Africa decor and NO animals then this is the place for you!
Victoria Wilson
Easy to get to, ok variety of animals. The only thing I don't like, the space for the animals
Kathy Zuckerman
Best zoo I have ever loved. Contributes to conservation efforts around the world. Provides privacy for the animals. Has various programs for the public to learn (and sometimes!) Interact with animals protected there. I have mixed feelings about the concept of zoos but Zoo Boise is the best of the best.
Logan Martin
An amazing amount of animals, and great deal of learning to be done. Young and old can find fun here. No matter your favourite animal, you can find something amazing here.
Victorya M
Was so hot and most of the animals were in where it was cool
Mallory Decker
Haven't been here since 3rd grade and hasn't changed much still awesome and such a cute little zoo to spend the day..
Brian Coleman
We had a nice time at the zoo. Because of the time of year, some animals were inside or not on exhibit, but we got to see quite a bit. We even got to hear the lion roar, which was cool.
Jordan lipsh
Zoo Boise is a great little zoo. The prices are fair and they even offer free days, and other events. The staff are friendly though I have seen them get cranky at closing time. Some of the animals you will see their include a lion, giraffes, zebras, penguins, African wild dogs, ant eaters, a sloth bear, red pandas, and very much more.
Brent Smith
The zoo during a pandemic is definitely going to be hard, I understand that, but I think my trip could have been improved with some relatively simple fixes. Taking that into consideration, I was really disappointed with a lot of our visit. It felt like half of the animal exhibits were closed, all of the secondary activities (ie carousel, river) were closed, the special food carts were closed (I know, pandemic) but the worst to me is there was goose feces everywhere. It just wasn't worth going right now. And this really upsets me because I have some really fun memories of the zoo. Maybe it will be better in a few months.
Sam Schubarth
Had an absolutely beautiful time here. It was my daughter's 5th birthday and we couldn't have come at a better time. Even with pandemic issues this zoo had plenty of animals out. I don't see what the fuss is with people complaining about goose poop everywhere. This ain't Disneyland, it happens get over it people. The staff was doing a great job, friendly and knowledgeable and as welcoming as they could be. I can't wait to come back when it's fully open, then I can knock the rating up to 5 stars.
J W
Our family had fun. A variety of animals, but many exhibits and attractions were still down or closed. Be sure to bring a water bottle to avoid paying the exuberant prices for one inside. To give you an idea, a cheeseburger was $12. A bottle of water was $3 I believe. Life hack, you can ask for a cup of water at the restaurant near the entrance.
I give 4 stars only for so many exhibits being down. When they open then I would be happy to give 5!
Ben McClary
It's probably the smallest zoo of anywhere we have lived and it's not kept in pristine shape but it's a decent family outing eat outing and they do have some nice animals.
Randy V
Great zoo to visit and not too big.
Valerie Donahoe
Bummed that I didn't get to see the red panda! But it was fun to see the snow leopards and we got a close look of many other animals.
Anastasia Pelletier
I love the boise zoo its educational and fun and the prices to go are cheap if you live here and have kids or just looking for something to do its definitely a place you have to go to once in your life :)
Jan Allan
Fun as always, but there were lots empty exhibits.
The Hidden Garden
Super fun place to take kids of all ages! Many animals to see and other fun things to do!
Jake Silvester
Had a great experience at Zoo Boise! Ordering tickets ahead of time made for quick entry on a Saturday. Understandably, some exhibits were closed due to COVID restrictions and weather conditions, but there were still plenty of fun and exciting animals to see! A great outing for families and we'll be back for sure!
