Reviews of Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport
Nancy Uche
This is a good quality airport. Going throughout this airport was very smooth for me. The tsa lines can be pretty long but they do their best. The layout is very good. There are a ton of restaurants and shops to visit while waiting for your flight.
Aaron Bridges
Family bathrooms, charging stations, quick security. Decent airport. The international area is pretty small with only one restaurant in the E- section, but its easy enough to walk to D if you're ahead of schedule. Didn't have to park, but was able to access my airline from the front door.
Cal Robertson
I have always adored going to air ports. This magnificent building tops them all. The bright colorful architectural design with the mix of culture and music makes this place seem as a cloud nine on the ground. The beautiful planes keep the place exciting. I love all of the restaurants and and the gift shops, there's truly always something new to discover in the wonderland. There is a great variety of places to go. There is even a PLAY PLACE! The atmosphere is truly breathtaking. I love the workers, they are beautiful and kind and very much friendly. I love to hear the soothing sound of the beautiful employees, it softens my lonely heart. Come and and become one of us!
Donald Krause (Don)
A very easy to navigate airport. Great signage, lots of places to charge devices, wide variety of sitting areas from private work cubes to comfy rocking chairs overlooking the airplanes. I really like the light rail system enabling a nice way to continue the travel adventure on my way downtown.
Mayukh Chakraborty
BWI is big and it spread out. When you enter you don't really come to know about the layout. A lot to walk if your gates are D and beyond.
Lots of Restaurants and Refreshment Outlets.
It needs an upgrade with respect to interiors, the AC ducts and wiring are visible at certain places.
All in all a good airport for affordable flying.
April Fogleman
Really nice airport. Extremely clean and organized for as busy as it is. Plenty of places to eat, shop and charge your electronics. I don't fly very often but this airport made it easy. The staff where friendly and happy to answer any questions i had. Thank you!
Jacqueline Peebles
Returning the car was a smoother process than picking up the rental. However, there was no signage at the Return entrance of Thrifty. The entrance is closed, so I entered at Budget and was informed to go out and enter through Hertz. Upon entering though Hertz, there was a Thrifty sign.
Kelly “Kelly’s Critique” Gilmore
6-9-22 Came to Maryland for a graduation and I enjoyed my stay. Airport has a small cafeteria before checking in and has restaurants near the gates where you board. There is places where you can get a drink and a nice meal. There are little places you can shop for things you may need for your travel. Everyone has been helpful and nice. Bathroom needed attention though.
Bailey Ostrom
This airport is HUGE! It’s the second largest base for Southwest (following Chicago Midway). The personnel were VERY friendly. It’s relatively easy to maneuver through, considering the fact that as soon as I deplaned, I had to walk from the end of Concourse A to the end of Concourse B to reach my connecting gate. There is a food court right in between the concourses, which has McDonald’s, and Chipotle, just to name a few things. There’s also plenty of shopping and clean restrooms. I remember seeing this airport all the time on the A&E reality show Airline.
John Coulson
I always find BWI airport to be clean, efficient and easy to park for. In my opinion it's one of the better airports in the United states. The Southwest terminal is fantastic and the rest of the airport seems to be catching up. While there are very few international flights. When used the international terminal is also excellent. The food selection throughout the airport is all so now above average.
Dolly
Light and open .. clean airport. Lots of restaurants.. a little shopping. Many places to charge your phone. I had a great breakfast mid day at the Silver Diner!! I had a small booth and was able to eat and read and sit for part of my long layover… no rush and left a great tip for my long stay. Oh and there were fresh flowers in the Women’s bathrooms. Oh and I had an unfortunate drink spill in a stall while trying to use that pull down lever to sit my drink on and hang my purse… nope didn’t work for me. Luckily the bathroom attendant was in there and she was so understanding about it and I felt so badly.
waqas khalid
smooth check-in /check-out process. neat and clean lobbies and rest-rooms. there'r many utility shops and cafes. also, there are many mobile/laptop charging ports near different gates.
Pat B
BWI is my preferred DC Area airport to go through. Staff are friendly, Checking in is easy with Southwest and American. Bag claim could be a little less of a mess with Southwest over here but its not bad.
I would arrive for your flight a little earlier than planned just in case TSA wait times are a little less than preferable when it gets busy.
A, B and C Terminals are all connected and have a good selection of restaurants and stores. I haven't been through the other terminals yet (D, E) so I can't say much for those. Good amount of seating at each gate A-C.
Long term parking is pretty good and fairly priced, No complaints. Hourly Garage is kinda on the pricey side for parking. But not too bad on any other aspect.
Saiprabhu B
The staff here were very friendly. We were here a few hours earlier for our flight at dawn and one of the AA staff provided us with blankets to keep us warm. Highly appreciated. There were also some good food options available for us vegetarians.
Kiet TT
The international terminal is very nice, but the only thing I am complaining about is the domestic terminal. It is old and hard to navigate. The rest of the airport is decent though. I’d rather fly out of IAD or DCA instead of this.
Joel Shapiro
Large airport with very easy access to long term parking. Security was a little slow for the regular line, but TSA Pre Check went through quickly.
MJ deCoen
Love coming to BWI for all my travel. Live in Central PA area and it's easy to drive in, pick up, park, and it's consumer friendly.. Has alot of food drink and accessories for traveling... Even now with covid...
Victor Corbin
BWI-Baltimore is a nice airport, I definitely think it needs to expand. The only issue is not enough places for picking up a quick breakfast and snack. The lines were long 20plus in many eateries in terminal A. Security was quick and efficient.
anderacpharmd
Showing it’s wear, men’s restrooms need to be cleaned on D concourse. Fortunately, the airport is not as busy or crowded as Hartsfield Atlanta, curbside check in is offered and convenient. Plenty of meal options.
Roy
What an excellent airport!
The lines were extremely short, and the place was squeaky clean. I strongly recommend flying through BWI if you have options.
Ricardo Yslas
For being a large airport, navigation is simple. Good choice are available. The space for walking is great and the art is diverse.
It’s very busy most of the time but members of the airport are very helpful in guiding others tk the proper areas.
Security check people tend to be rude. Only seen a handful act as if people are traveling. They talk as if they are herding cattle. Tough job though so hats off to them for keeping the airport safe.
Gate seating is clean and shops are near by for goods or refreshments. I look forward to taking off every time I’m in BWI.
john gotowala
Nice airport not very crowded when i went through. Coffee places and eateries available.
Kyle Lee
Solid airport. Floors are not comfy to sleep on when your flight gets canceled. Restaurants close around 10pm at the D terminal, but it could be different at the others. Staff was nice. Free shuttle bus to the train station as well.
Only suggestion is having some restaurants close later.
Gilbert Hernandez
Great little airport, everything was very well situated and easy to navigate.
Alicia Knight
I love this airport. Staff are friendly and it's very clean. I usually fly Southwest from here and it is spacious. I love the rocking chairs they added so you can watch planes land and take off. Great food choices as well. Parking in long term is affordable ($8/day) and the shuttles are always on time.
Ivan D
If you are flying from a Concourse E, don't come to the airport hungry because there is no food here. The hall is large, a lot of space, you can charge your phone, clean, but no food and coffee
Adriana VH
One of my all time airports to fly through! Of acourse with Southwest of course. Your food, shopping, makeup and massage options are endless too.
Bonnie Therrien
We were from out of town and saw the good reviews for this restaurant. We loved it! We had calamari and a deluxe pizza and loved them both. Pizza was more like a NY pizza and it was definitely made from scratch. Great layout of an old Italian restaurant in Italy. Staff was very good. If ever in this town again, we definitely would go back.
Ligne Janel
The TSA pre check was pretty smooth to go to , once through security there were lots of food places to go to and the lines weren’t long for the early flights
Matthew Colegrove
The facility is awesome. It's clean and ready to get around. There are plenty of places to eat.
I have a 5 hour layover and there are quiet places to rest. An observation deck to view airport operations. There are also some play areas for the kids.
Overall, the nicest airport I've been in, in a while.
Nodella Jordan
It's like most any other airport with a lot of restaurants and gift shops on site. I stopped at one small shop to grab water and a candy bar. It was very crowded. I'm flying Avelo for the first time and hoping it will be a good flight.
Carlos A.
In my opinion better than Dulles. It is nice, clean, and has less crowds. It has a decent selection of stores and is almost as close to the city as Dulles.
I would choose this airport every time.
Daniel Hennis
I fly in and out of BWI every month, and it’s very easy to navigate. TSA can take 15 minutes or more to get through, but TSA pre-check and Clear are other available options. The doors to ground transportation are clearly labeled for ride-share services. The main terminals A, B, and C are simple to move to and from. The food court has many options and their hours are better than other airports. I would recommend flying with Southwest Airlines here. They have quite a few nonstop flights.
Robert Teal
This is a good Airport even though there is construction going on this is a good Airport one of the better airports that I've been in in a long time
Michelle Duke
Nice airport. Bathroom could have been a bit cleaner.
This airport is becoming my new favorite connecting spot!
Oofio2461 (oofio2461)
Good airport, great options for eating, shopping and even suites next to the gates so you don't have to pay a expensive taxi for it. Overall this airport was cool and short for domestic. I flew with American in Main Cabin Extra with it's extra legroom seats and extra snacks after the crew finishes giving out snacks.
Rajesh Mohan
Good airport. Much better than most other regional airports and a great selection of food counters.
Jorge Rodriguez
I've been in this airport only during midnight hours and it works fine as expected. One time I arrived at 3:30 and the security checkpoint was closed, but they opened again at 4am. The terminal is big enough to spend some time while waiting. Personnel was polite and fast with everything. The shuttle from the terminal to the car rental facility sometimes takes too long to arrive, so be prepared for waiting a little bit.
Howard Dai
Spacious and well equipped airport! Cool to see a Prince store past the customs!
Vitali
Generally very clean. Signs are easy to follow. They have working escalators. Some interesting artwork including a picture of the Lincoln monument. Lots of food places in the terminal.
It took some time for the rental car shuttle to arrive and took about 10 minutes to get to the car rental building. All the car rental companies are in the same building, which is also well kept up.
William Rogers III (Will)
Great! Found ground transportation very easily and even saw a 24-hour flower vending machine! Good public transit with light rail and buses available!
Christy Ruedlinger
Very nice dining options. We loved that they have a minutes suites option so you can lay down in a private room and nap or watch tv, that made our delayed flight and being stranded at the airport bearable. I noticed fresh flowers in multiple restrooms which was a nice touch.
Mark Hartley
Parked my vehicle, went to the baggage claim area to meet my wife, retrieved her luggage then headed back to our vehicle, exited with only a $4 parking fee.
For me, this is how I prefer to handle picking up someone from the airport.
Efficient and affordable.
When flying, this is our 'go to' airport unless we have to fly out of Dulles.
Mrhashtagpickle
REALLY BUSY!!! This airport was really busy, but there was good food options and no delays or cancellations on my southwest flight. Nice airport.
Lyn Jones
Beautiful airport.. Need more moving sidewalks for older folks. Need more arrival & departure marquees & directional signs. We walked from the end of B Concourse to C55 only to find SW had moved our flight to A16. Otherwise, beautiful design & pleasant experience.
Tim Shields
We've had lots of layovers here but not much experience with TSA or outside security. There are a lot of food options and seating. It was easy to find a place to charge a phone. Large windows to watch airplanes or construction if you have a long layover. Some restrooms are under construction as well as some of the gates, but it doesn't get in the way.
J C
Probably the best customs experience in a long time. Was super fast and besides the scary face customs agent (to be expected) was smooth. They even had free carts for military personnel. Then while waiting for the elevator next to the USO they came out and gave both children a lollypop, I didn't even have time to go in. Only down side was I parked closer to check-in so getting back to my car was long walk from customs (my fault), next time I'll park closer to arrivals.
Pascal Bruno
Check-in was really fast, the security check also went pretty seamlessly. All in all, a nice airport with a variety of restaurant and fast food option inside the terminal.
Corey Trusty
It was quick and easy to get through security to get to my gate. Silver dinner was good, slow, but good. The bathrooms weren’t great and this is the 3rd time I’ve flown out of BWI in the last month and my flight has never been on time… thanks Southwest… can’t wait to the law passes to start taking care of consumers for flights…
Elle K
I end up always having a layover here and I really don't mind it. It's definitely on the better side of airports I've been stuck at. Plenty of charging areas at gates, numerous food options, surprisingly clean bathrooms for an airport, and clean in general.
Glen Maylone
I have flown in and out of this airport many times. It is just a big busy airport. With that being said it is easy to access, they do shut it down to outside personnel entering around 11PM I think, so if you are stuck there it is pretty safe and quiet. Decent number of places to eat etc. They are doing construction and there was little in the way of signs telling passengers where to go, so even getting to baggage was a chore last night.
A Kanjani
Nice airport, however most restaurants here were closed when I arrived at 8pm.
Everything else was quick, but the wait for the shuttle bus to the car rental place was like OMG - the bus drivers were limited the number of passengers to 25 per long bus and it was unorganized and yet very long wait to get place to ride, I even when was alone took a good 1h.
Can the airport authorities please to try and create a que system so it’s fair to everyone to get a place and increase the number of shuttle to car rental terminal.
Also try to keep at least couple of restaurants around the baggage collection area so people can eat sometimes after a very long flight.
Everything else was in order.
Swk K
Nice airport about an hours ride from DC. Lots of space here and open places.
Jess K
My first time here and when I landed you could tell the airport was well used. Definitely could use updating. When we asked for help on navigating the MARC system to DC, the attendant was very straight forward with her thoughts on flying into BWI vs DC itself.
Asya Shaheeddavis
I was there on a Friday evening at 8 to catch a flight out. The lines were short at the ticket counters and going through security. It's a great time to go if you want to avoid the crowds, but remember that the food vendors are closed.
Carol Beck
I like BWI. Small airport that is easy to navigate. Everything is close. There are 3 concourses but they all enter through one main area. Lots of places to eat and shop or just wander around if you are early for your flight or have a long layover. So much better than a big airport for me!
Mike Moyer
Great airport. Everything is clean and you can get though security quickly.
K C
This is what I consider to be my “home airport” and I’ve been traveling through here for many, many years. In my experience, service has only gotten better over time. Security is usually faily fast and the food options are as good if not better than most other airports I’ve visited. I do wish they offered additional international options but I understand that is difficult given the number of other international options available nearby.
Chris B
Whole airport is super clean and actually looks pretty nice, but there's practically nothing to do in it -- it's a very empty building. Few restaurants, average food. Most interesting thing I saw was a high-end vending machine lol
Tammi Barkman
Stopover experience.
Lots of choices for food and shopping. Nice walk around. Very clean and friendly staff. Ate at the Silver Diner. Good breakfast.
Jenn Galler
I come from a smaller city so I was nervous about living in a bigger city with a bigger airport, but can safely say I love this airport! I don’t have to worry about getting here 3 hours early, in my experience I’ve never waited more than 45 mins for security, friendly staff, good food options, and most affordable long term parking. Never change!
James D'Amico
This airport has really good long-term parking and for cheap prices as well. The buses are super quick and reliable as well.
Getting through security is always a breeze as well.
Plenty of quick restaurants to stop, and as well.
Jayzie Babie
It's my home airport so it's really nothing spectacular to it that I've not already experienced. They're redoing the restrooms which is a plus. The food that's there is good. Yet tsa...they get you in and out! My fave part is being able to move seamlessly throughout that portion. For my last few flights, things have went pretty smooth, literally cannot complain. My only wish is that they had 24 hr food after the super long flights. Now THAT would be clutch! All else is quite fine with me.
Jason
Nice airport!! Very clean and got through quickly. Bigger than I thought but lots of powered walkways to speed it up. Security when I came was incredibly short, and it took no more than five minutes from the time I arrived to the time I was through security with bags checked. Food options were great-- it was really nice to see a Leann Chin's there, the food was delicious. Jamba Juice was sadly out of frozen yogurt to make certain drinks, but PinkBerry had plenty!
Ann Harrell
On arrival, easy to get car rental shuttle to car rental building. TSA security point was pretty smooth on departure. No electricity plug-in at gates waiting to leave was a bummer.
Darin Marshall
No more seat assignments. Weird! You want front row you have to pay for it. Cabin air press wasn't great. My ears kept popping. Never had that problem before. Heading to Tampa on Southwest airlines again. We'll see if it was just me.
J MJ
I really like this airport, but they've got to do better about having power at each of the seats at the gates. They need to have some sort of USB plug so that we can charge our devices at our seats versus the struggle of having to go to the little tables on the outskirts of the seats to try to fight for a space to charge our devices.
Melissa Osmon
Arrived in the Southwest terminal on 8-16-22 and had a 4 hour layover. The Womens restroom in this area (B gates) was one of the dirtiest restrooms I Have ever been in! I do not think it had been attended to at all. When we went into the newer section of the airport, it was nice and restrooms were clean. Something needs to be done in the Southwest area!
Ravi Singh
Quick to fly-in and fly-out compared to IAD and DCA. Security check was quick but offsite car rental is a little longer drive and need extra time.
Shelly M
I've had mostly good experiences here, except for a few recent experiences that have me scratching my head. On the past two occasions I have flown out and parked at Long Term Lot A, the bus for that lot has been almost non-existent upon my return trip. The other buses - Long Term B, Daily Garage, Express, Rail, and Car rental come fairly frequently. On my most recent trip, it took the long term A bus almost 45 minutes to show up, while the other buses were fairly frequent, showing up at least 3 times within that window. I'm not sure what is going on there, but the inefficiency is hard to ignore.
Also, I recently had an experience in the security line where the TSA agent tried to look through my wallet and went rifling through my credit cards. When I confronted the individual about it, they pulled out my keys and said that they were the cause of needing to look through my wallet. Then the agent said they needed to take my whole wallet and put it back through the security line. When I objected, she glared at me, and then not only grabbed my wallet, but also my purse, and put them back through the security line. Afterward, she brought both back and then put them behind the little desk where the agent looks through bags that have set off the alarm. She left my purse and wallet on top of my open bag, said I needed to come fix it myself, and then walked away.
Shreyas Srinivasa
It's a decent airport. Definitely not the worst, but not the best either. It's somewhere in the middle. Easy navigation if that helps. Good assortment of restaurants. TSA is ok here, not too bad like the Philadelphia airport. Overall, very worth using for your travels.
Ed Broas
Dunno if I'd ever get excited over an airport terminal but the section I was in did not have phone charging stations. Electric outlets were very sparse and hard to find. The 2 I did find find not work. An otherwise serviceable airport - the 3 stars are merely a reflection of my sour mood because I needed the juice
Holly Lorini
Had a few hours to kill between flights. Easily found places to sit with plugs or USB charging areas. Easy access for coffee and snacks. Overall satisfactory!
Nathan Lannan
Not the best or the worst. Some areas definitely seem newer and have better restaurants and nicer bathrooms. Although not a lot of food options, there is definitely enough to satisfy most people. All around a decent airport if you find yourself traveling through.
Dan Gillgannon
Decent airport with ok shops. Needs an update to the new style airport with basically a mall built into it. Those are amazing. Lots of gates, good parking nearby and really no complaints at all.
Craig Sullivan
Not a bad airport. Security checkpoint, from my experience, is relatively fast. The airport is pretty clean with some interesting art inside.
Grab a crabcake if you're laying over.
The hourly parking is -- as one might expect -- not so great. Make sure you know where you parked and how to get back.
Amber Freestone
Great airport! Quick and friendly security team, multiple shops and restaurants, clean and easy to navigate.
Sandra O.
I had the BEST experience with an employee named Jose at the check in counter. So much so, that I'm still thinking about our encounter almost two weeks after my trip! He was so kind, friendly, courteous and patient! I encountered a small issue and he went out of his way to solve it immediately. If it helps, he has short blonde hair and he's of average build. I wish more employees were like him. Thank you so much!
dena legaux
Huge Kudos to all staff at BWI. The staff takes extra caution to make sure customers are safe. Smooth process. Big shout out to United Airlines crew for a safe and comfortable flight.
Chris Derzak
One terminal, one road into the terminal. Easy drop off and pickup. Southwest is the first airline, sometimes there is some congestion at the beginning of the terminal, be patient, it will shake out. If you rent or return a car, the facility is offsite, allow an extra 15-20 min for drop and transport from rental cars to terminal.
Vic Glass
Easy to get around in. TSA Precheck makes security easy. There could be a better selection of fast food but what is here is adequate. The airport was not too busy for travelling on Friday evening. Nice airport!
Sankar Prabhukumar
It takes me 50 minutes to BWI and 20 minutes to Dulles but I still pick BWI because it is so much better than Dulles. Getting in and out of BWI is a breeze. Dulles is an absolute nightmare. It’s much cleaner than Dulles as well.
KDivaz Travels
Great Airport. Friendly staff, everything was easy to find..helpful staff. Wide parking spaces at the long term parking. The baggage claim area was socially distanced. Enjoyed my flight and my trip in and out of this airport
Andrea strbova
Quite good, not so busy. Travelled beginning of September
MarLyn Williams
I was only there for a layover, but this was a beautiful facility. The bathrooms are large, clean, and well-appointed. The ubiquitous windows are lined with rocking chairs for people to relax in. Every staff member with whom I interacted was pleasant and competent. Wi-Fi is free and fast. I think I'll be laying over here as often as I can.
Gleeful TreeFrog
It has been a while since I flew through BWI. it was a very small airport then with very few services. I am impressed by the expansion of shopping and food service areas. Good stop on a long trip!
K L
We had delayed/lost luggage for 2 weeks and BWI was helpful all the way. We finally received the luggage and I just want to thank everyone who helped us. Latisha and everyone, thank you for your hard work and I'm sorry we were so persistent but we really needed the luggage back.
THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Janie
Clean bathrooms & at least some bottle filling stations are a plus. The food options are not my cup of tea (raw bar, sit down diners are not what I want at an airport), but there are some bright spaces & it's not bad to connect through.
Awesome
The airport is nice. Parking is confusing. Wrote where we were parked and still couldn't find the car. Someone at same location as us two spots down couldnt find their spot either. Its no fun wandering for 20 min. while dragging a bag around looking for your car. Maybe something needs to be done to label the lot better so its not so confusing.
Su Brotz
I love this airport. This was my first time using it. When I landed, I had no idea where the baggage claim was. I asked a gentleman, and he was very helpful, giving me directions as to where I wanted to go. I use a scooter, and I'm used to having to take elevators, but he made sure I realized I did not need an elevator. The only problem is their bathrooms. I could not get my scooter in the stall, which meant I needed to take my carry-on luggage in with me. When I got out, I could not turn around, so I had to do a lot of backing up even to get to a sink and then to get out. It actually took so long that when I got to baggage claim, my luggage had been taken off. Luckily, I had been met by my daughter. She found the Southwest office. The woman there actually went and brought back my luggage.
On my return flight, the TSA attendant did not pat down my knee. I am able to stand in the scanner and tell them I have a plate and seven screws in my right knee. Every airport still pats down that knee. I have MS, and most of the time, when they do that, it makes my leg spasm, and I come very close to falling. So by having TSA realize they didn't need to pat me down made my day. I gave them four stars because of the inaccessibility of their bathrooms. However, I am looking forward to my next trip through this airport.
Thomas Grooms
Beautiful Airport, my first time traveling through it. I Didn't get to explore, but saw sone great options to eat. I didn't get to eat due to flight delays, and I had to rush to my connecting flight. The restrooms were clean also.

Today was my First time forgetting my ID and realizing it while in the TSA line . The lady who assisted me was very nice she asked me to step out of line to be assisted. Another TSA staff assisted me through the verification process. Everyone one was nice and did not seem to tired to help as in other airports or just yelling for yelling sake. But our flight was delayed more than usual. it would be nice to at least be given the reason for delay once boarded and sitting for about an extra hour
Dane Zillioux
Not a bad airport. Some decent food choices. Wait for the rental car facility bus can be a bit long. Sometimes 20 - 30 min.
Merc Jordan
Midsized airport, a little confusing with the lines at first you were not sure which side you should be on in order to check in. Delta Staff were amenable and friendly. Some staff did not understand English and directions or questions were lost in translation. Otherwise it was a good experience.
Angad Singh
I don’t want to review this airport because I don’t want it to get busier. I travel for work, multiple flights a month. Top status on two airlines. I have lived in SF, Seattle, Denver, Vegas, and Boston. I know the airports well, better than most, and I love BWI. It’s not fancy, it doesn’t have good food, it isn’t posh, but wow does it do it’s job very well.
Emma Prettyman
Easily got where I was going here. Gates are easy to locate and you don't have to shuttle everywhere. My daughter lost her tablet and they easily got it back to her in the mail.
Kerri Tourtlotte
BWI is a great airport. There are plenty of places to eat and drink. People are friendly, staff is wonderful. I'm not actually sure who is reading a review on an airport, but if you're reading mine.. I have been to many many in the United States, and BWI hands down is one of the best!!!
Deborah “Debbi Lee” Flagg
We arrived from Boston at 0730. Haven't seen the airport this busy since pre-pandemic! Good to see people getting back to normal travel, but it sure was easier to move around when it wasn't so busy 😂 …
Renee Border
Easy to get around. Could use more signage where to go for rental cars.
If you get lost head outside and walk until you see a stop for rental car facility. Otherwise an efficient airport!
D. James Lawrie
Air travel is always challenging and a bit of a roll of the dice these days. Nonetheless, departure from BWI is about as painless as it gets. Curbside checkin for Southwest Airlines was smooth and quick. The TSA Pre line was short and moved quickly. Boarding was on time although there were more than the usual number of numerically challenged people in the boarding queue.
Eileen Parrish
Liked this airport. It is so easy to pick up your family when they come and visit. The parking is very accessible. You can park and walk to drop or pick someone up and it is quick and also free for 30 minuts.
Zev Kahn
The FAA shut down the entire country. I had a great time at the observation deck and the time flew by
Pauly C. (Paul)
Nice airport. Like the name of it. Don’t remember a whole lot from my 2016 trip(s) here. A lot of interesting restaurants and stores that I do remember. TSA is alright and the customer service agents were really nice. Would love to return soon someday, if I ever get the chance…
Teneha B
Great airport. Nice employees & staff. They genuinely seem to like their jobs, well at least the people I came into contact with.
This airport is super busy, but to me, seems smaller in size than some of the other international airports. Just amazing how an airport of this size handles the traffic.
Love the moving sidewalks, I guess they’re actually indoor sidewalk, but they move & this is always exciting to me. Helps to give your legs a break.
Not many eateries, but those that are in place are intermittently spaced with great placement.
Love this airport because I connect it to visiting my loving & super great Mom & my connection the beautiful East-coast.
Chan Deborah
TSA lines are long! Get there early! Shuttle for daily parking stops lots of times before getting to airport. Other than that it’s a nice airport.
Kimberly McC
Early am flight. Place was clean. Bathroom not as much for it being 6 am. TSA line NOT BAD about 20 minutes wait. Spirit line was pure chaos. Bus from daily parking came within 10 minutes.
Spiral Tote
This is definitely an ethnic airport. I love it. I’ve never seen this in any airport but here. Easy to get around and good restaurants.
Mona Jalal
Great airport with great food selections.
Ketteland F
It is a decent size airport pretty easy to navigate but most of the food places close at nine so if you come in after nine it’s hard to find something to eat
Megh T
I live in Germantown MD, I picked up a friend on a Friday night, it took me 3 hrs, but was waiting for my friend for almost 35 minutes, so I made EXCELLENT TIME! It is pretty far away.. I just prefer Reagan airport cause it's closer..
Jabes Garcia
From my area in Pennsylvania this is my favorite airport to fly from and to the Caribbean: BWI And Baltimore rocks 👋😎🤙 …
Keith G
The lines move quick enough when we went through security. The gate information screens were not working and showing what flight was leaving, causing several travelers to sit and wait at the wrong gate. The bathrooms could have used a deeper cleaning.
Rebecca Blaney DeStefano
My mother is disabled and needs a wheelchair. The staff was at our vehicle immediately and stayed by my mother's side the whole time. Very easy and simple to check in as well. Beautiful for the holiday's 🎄🤶🎅☃️ …
Bobby Pierce
Always a good stop for a layover. Decent food, not too busy and easy to navigate.
The bathrooms this go around were “less than desirable” with many out of order.
Larry Allen
BWI is one of the busier airports we travel through. We usually get through with minimal consternation. Today, we didn't arrive 2 hours ahead of the expected departure time. We arrived at the terminal about 45 minutes before the plane was set to depart. The line to check baggage was really long. My sugar pie honey bunches of oats volunteered to get the luggage checked in while I returned the rental. Needless to say, we were running to catch our flight once we made it through TSA. We made the flight only to have mechanical issues that led us back into the terminal. All is gooder again...
Samuel
very very nice airport very professional a rental bus came pretty quickly and there was an information desk at the exit that we could ask questions to first time in Baltimore I think I might have been there years ago though
Doug Cress
Very good. TSA pre was easy, fun view of planes taking off and landing. Southwest ground personel we're friendly and helpful.
Khrongsak Laphim
Easy relax airport.. quite far away from city center but acessible by train or bus.. If you fly early morning .. you do not need to be at the airport early like 2 hours there is no staff
Sree Sreenivasan
Only spent a little time here, but an impressive regional American airport. Love the rocking chairs in some of the waiting areas. The pet relief area was clean and large and welcoming.
Ellis Jackson
Service was awesome from our longterm parking bus driver (#407), to TSA, and flight crew; plane was delayed hence the vid 🤷🏾♀️😍✊🏾 …
jeff etzkin
Nice airport facilities, nice restaurants and shopping, very easy to get around... Why is just about every electrical outlet almost unable to hold a charger plug? They're all overused and needs replaced.
Michael Mullady
Nice airport have been here a few times usually to connect but this time to actually visit the area. Easy to get to parking and rental cars via shuttle. Not such a huge airport that it's hard to find your gate.
J S
This airport is very convenient. Easy to get to, fast security lines, clean facilities. Better than Dulles in terms of getting there, and faster security lines than DCA
Constance Smith
I visited yesterday and last week and had no trouble getting in and out of there to drop off and pick up my family. I was very pleased and amazed that they were organized getting traffic in and out!
Bert Defoe
Clean and organized. Note: it's always busy, so leave early and give yourself time. At least 40 minutes to get bags checked, and another 25 through regular security.
Tony Kuhn
First time flying out of BWI...will choose this airport over Reagan in the future. Utilized The Parking Spot app for great long term parking rates. Highly recommend them as well.
Grayce Gonzalez
Good experience. Lots to do even though our flight was delayed
Robin Smircina (Pyrostarr)
It's an airport, the bathrooms don't smell great. The bathroom on my flight smelled better. The restaurants and shops were clean
Christopher Holloway
Fairly easy to maneuver through. Friendly staff. Lots of food and drink choices.
Michael Altuner
Best airport in DC area. Easiest walk from front door to gate. Best Lost and Found service in the industry! Lingina helped us out big time, her customer service and professionalism is world class!
Get It Girl
Nice the renovations are coming along. The ppl were friendly enough. Just passing through. The American airlines gate agents at C-5, BWI to CLT at or around 3:20 rocked! Very sweet ladys!!!!!! They represented American airlines and BWI well!!!!
David Bolick
BWI is a nice alternative to Dulles or National but there bus expect to wait at every possible point. The worst area is the rental car bus. If lucky, the wait is only 10 minutes. Often more. Results in busses crammed to the point 20 people or more stand the whole ride.
Pam Arnold
Everyone at the airport was very kind and helpful.
Dunn Success Fully
Nice clean environment. Not overly crowded or busy. Was allowed to unload car without having to worry about security. Flight was on time.
Sifu Tim Berkemeier -Traditional Wing Chun
Love this little airport
You don't have to walk real far to get to your terminal and it's usually very smooth to get through security.
L C
Thank you for having water bottle refill stations. Chefs Kiss over here in Terminal A near gate 11.
Ruben Martinez
Getting out of a SouthWest Airline flight B11 and going to B13 on a tight 40 minute layover was pretty seemless!!!.
Customer Service Agents were quick to give us our boarding passes to get us on our way!!!.
Restrooms were ok clean, and plenty of stores where were at to quench our thirst or snack bite.
Overall, very efficient when stopping by here.
Chris Buzniak
Airport was very easy to navigate, also there were plenty of various bars to eat and kill time between flights
Paulette M Atkins
Great experience! Security Checkpoint and waiting for plane boarding, outlets for phone charging! Thanks!
Patricia Howard
If you're ever there, you MUST go to the observatory lounge right above the Thurgood Marshall exhibit— it's beautiful, peaceful, and a very nice place to wait for your flight ♡ 10/10
Andrew Baucom
Air travel is nothing lol ike it used to be. Got to long term parking B at 6am and it was closed... Went across to long term B and it was packed and drove around for 10-15 minutes looking for a spot when we noticed cars and busses going into long term B lot. Luckily I found a car leaving a spot and took it. No busses showed but a nice security guard offered to drive us to the terminal. Stopped for coffee at Green coffee something and the idiots couldn't get a single order right.... Waited 20 min for a couple of lattes. Ugh. Just a mess of an airport now.
Don Hartman
I like flying out of BWI. It is a great airport and everyone seems friendly. There are many restaurants and store to keep you busy while you wait. I also love they have a CLEAR lane.
adam feierabend
Easy to get from one place to another. Staff are ..... moderately friendly to sometimes nasty. Overall not the worst airport I've been to
Chris Charest
I had to run from the B concourse to the A to catch a flight but it looked like a nice airport. People movers helped us get around quickly.
Jennifer Schelly
Nice airport with plenty of food options. Some bathrooms could use better service and can be crowded in busy areas. Some bathrooms are brand new and beautiful.
Parent notes: Lots of Mamaazza pods around. No playground. Best bet to tire out little ones is to walk or find an open gate area to play.
Dafney Colon
Cleanest airport I’ve ever visited! Very organized, staff is super kind! Loved it!
Pierre Lestaevel
Experience was good eventhough I get searched by TSA everytime I have gone through. This time they were not so bad. Xmas spirit.
John Foy
Bit of a ride to the rental car facility, but otherwise nice. Be there at 4 to 430 am to breeze thru security for early morning flights
Ms.
Good service with Spirit Airline counter rep. While walking thru airport I noticed a "Pod" available for breast feeding moms. Very spacious inside with outlet to charge phones or devices. In ladies (very clean) restroom were fresh flowers!!!!
While continuing to leave airport I noticed a station/ bathroom for Pets!!!
This is an old charming airport with amenities you don't see in larger modern ones. Oh yeah, plenty of seating scattered thru out for the weary travelers to regroup.
UPDATE: Took Spirit to Puerto Rico for Christmas vacation and received 1000 free miles!!
Robert R.
Shout out to BWI and TSA!!!! Getting thru TSA was a breeze this holiday weekend!!! 5!minutes flat which is a record for me!!!! Great planning was executed
Sha Mar
Great airport: open architecture with lots of sun and natural light! Very clean environment, polite and friendly staffs, great access to spot your gate, comfortable seating area with charger! Cute cozy little restaurant on every corner! What else do we want from an airport?!
AARON DeMent
In terms of airports, relatively average for an American airport. Comfortable enough, decent concessions. Could use some lounges.
Kayla M
The worst bathrooms imaginable are in concourse D & E. The rest of the airport is very clean and we were catching the red eye so it was empty no people to interact with to give feedback on the staff. Overall quite.
Rusty Wilson
Not a bad airport. Made it here at 5:30 traffic coming into the airport was not bad. Weather was. Going through the TSA checkpoint was quick and effortless. Bathrooms were clean and it has many food shops. Concourses are also conveniently located close by.
Cyrus Li
Nice staff, but the lines at the TSA for concourses D and E are a little ridiculous for an airport that serves mainly domestic routes. Delta also feels a little understaffed. There are a lot of food and duty free options in Concourse D, which is pretty convenient.
noah frankenhauser
Pretty nice international airport conveniently located near Baltimore. Traffic can build up pretty easily on 295 and 195 and create a longer trip to the airport than estimated so leave early if traveling during rush hour or holidays. Southwest's hub so that's a big plus in my book 👍🏼 …
Lisa Bell
Always had a good experience. Not too crowded. Loads of eateries while waiting for flight.
Helen Niles
No hassle getting through TSA. Got to our gate pretty fast, not crowded at 7:00am. Definitely love BWI airport.
Bailey Alexander
This is one of the nicest airports in my opinion. Everything is labeled so well and makes it so easy to maneuver in a timely manner. There is lots of coffee options, restaurant options, gift shop options and much more once inside. Security moves very quickly here, and all workers are very friendly and will help if you have any questions. Such a great airport highly recommend.
Tom Esposito
Very welcoming, pleasant experience flying into or through BWI. The Southwest Airlines terminal and employees are especially friendly and professional.
Jason Neel
This airport is very convenient to the local DC area and is a great place to go in and out of. Weekly parking is a little bit off site but every time that I'm flying I have no problem catching the bus. People don't know is there is a hidden observation deck in the airport that even has a fun spot for your little ones to play while waiting for loved ones or waiting to go to your next destination. For those who do not want or need a break from them there is also a sky bar called Azure on the observation deck as well.
Christopher Thomson
Very convenient for Southwest...especially commuting via PVD. Good amount of food options once past security in B terminal. Self serve kiosks in SWA speeds up bag drops. Always have TSA Pre Check available. Lots of glass windows for good views of the planes. Pretty big though so schedule some time to maneuver.
Rolando Trevino
Returning back to H-Town. Great weekend, a bit of the white stuff. Very productive weekend trip.
Loved the airport, TSA was on point and got us right through.
Lisa Larkin
The check in process was a little slow because there were so many people there. The agents were pretty quick and friendly though. Getting through security was quicker than I'd expected. One of the security officials told everyone to just leave everything in our bags--don't worry about pulling out electronics or liquids. I don't know if that is typical or if they were just trying to get us through faster. It was nice though. The layout of the airport is good, and the signage is helpful. The hotel shuttle dropped us off at the correct terminal and we didn't have to walk very far at all to get to our gate. On our way to the gate, I noticed a couple of places with large windows and rocking chairs. It looked like a nice place to sit and hang out, and I kind of wish we'd stopped there instead of going directly to our gate and then sitting there.
Realornot66 6
Barley any outlets. The men's bathrooms have body fluids all over the floor, absolutely disgusting. They do have good selection of restaurants and food. The staff are very helpful and nice.
Vinman
So,so clean. I've been in many airports but BWI is very clean. Employees are extremely nice. Parking is a breeze and Ticket Counter Assistants are very helpful.
Rob Olling
It was late, couldn't get a gate pass. And then the kid appeared out of nowhere.
Amanda Anoh
Clean, professional, efficient airport depending on the airline you are flying of course. Southwest has been good to me thus far, United is okay, Spirit not so much but you know... to each his own
becca ibrowcandy
This airport appeared clean everywhere. It wasnt too hard to navigate. They even had nice lighting and fresh flowers in the bathroom!
Adora Curry
I never want to be stranded again, but I really enjoyed my stay at BWI. We had 6 hours to kill and it was very pleasant. I learned some things too!
Mark Schubert (Chief)
Most seating has charging ports, looks like they're working on more to come. Restrooms were clean. Great job BWI!
Alinuru com
Always a quick in and out compared to other airports. The drive is smooth with less traffic by rental car. Allow an hour for the rental car return with the shuttle. I've made many day trips in and out for in person meetings in DC. While it's a long day, I avoid the hotel room and additional travel expenses once I set my mind to the long day of travel.
LeVita Ross (Vita)
The Airport was ok....but being a first time flyer.....the Pilot landed that plane as if he does it in his sleep. Thank you for a GrEat first time experience.
Sherdene Thompson
Other than the long wait to get from Southwest gate with a wheelchair to customs it was all good. I give the wheel chair attendance a 5star because it was just two of them working. Eric and the supervisor did their best. Nice big clean airport.
Annie Harris
This was the first time I had been here. I had to wait for quite a while to get a wheelchair each time for escort through the airport. One time I had to walk to the plane and carry my bag on. When I bought the tickets I requested a chair for the round trip. Other than that it's a pretty good experience! The workers were friendly.
Krystal Thomas
This airport is really nice and the food options are phenomenal. Just to name a few…
Auntie Anne’s
Chinese
McDonald’s
Chik-fil-A
Pizza
Sandwich shops
Seafood Bar
Martini Bar
Dine-in restaurants
They also have charging stations and big restrooms
kris lloyd
I love the large selection of food places they had at Baltimore’s airport! So much to choose from. May not seem important to some but when you travel from one side of the country to another it’s something you look for.
People were great and friendly and everything seemed to flow with no long lines.
Craig Ward
Nice airport, always bright and clean, low sound levels which are lower than many airports.
David Gerst
Mid size airport easy to get around. I’ve only flow delta so I only know D terminal. It take about 45 minutes to get from rental car return, checked in, through security, and two the gate. It has a couple art installations. I enjoy it.
Elizabeth Heaslet
Needs more than one set of vending machines on one end of the airport. Otherwise clean and convenient.
Reed Heit
I just adore airports this one being no exception at all. If this airport was a bowl of cereal I'd drink it all day. And the staff is superb. Getting through security was one of the nicest experiences of my life. But in all seriousness, you have to visit sometime. I cannot express my love for this place in this short, short review. This airport is something you have to experience for yourself.
Jay Stokes
I often have layovers here and always enjoy it. Especially walking around c terminal (which is currently VERY quiet... And has hilarious signage). Good food options that are spread out. Solid variety of seating. Plenty of outlets. Major Southwest hub. 👍👍 …
Jose Mejias
Love this airport! Well laid out. It has plenty of dining options that are not completely outrageous. They have signs saying "mall pricing not airport pricing". Its still more expensive though (Mcd large coke $2.43 with tax, while everywhere else its $1 plus tax.) TSA moves fairly quickly here
Blair Wright
One of the top 3 airports in the US IMO, easy to get around and has good restaurants and bars for your downtime when connecting or simply waiting. The one and only downside is that the TSA here is staffed with some of the worst in the country (1.8 Million miles here so this is not coming from a rookie). Overall great airport and would be much better if the TSA had some solid leadership here which they obviously don't have any haven't for the past 8-10 years.
Stephanie Bordner
Great airport! We checked in and got thru TSA fairly quickly. Friendly and helpful employees.
Gregory Croteau
Solid terminal, mini food court definitely helps, since there's not many sit down restaurants
UGOCHI OBIJURU
Very large airport. Well coordinated, organised and neat. The staffs were very helpful and friendly, they made the experience a seamless one.
Pam Wright
Nice airport not much hustling and bustling maybe because if airline. I am on Sun Country I normally fly Southwest. However my experience is great today.
Timothy S Clippinger
Always a great experience at BWI. All the food courts are open, both domestic and international flights are on schedule and airlines need the traffic so look for lower prices and plan a trip.
Shara Davidson-Russ
Airport gets extremely busy. You never know when they have the dogs out, which can delay you getting through the gate in a timely manner, so I would suggest getting to the airport at least 2 hours in advance. Never understood why some of the staff and security are so rude while others are more pleasant. It's understandable that they need to be on high alert, but it doesn't warrant being rude to do so. One of the workers was yelling at adults like children because they joined the line at the security gate in a direction that was not the way in which the lady employee wanted it to go. The line was so long it started to curve down a hallway to the side of the gate entrance. Overall not a terrible experience when I travel from BWI but not the greatest either. Decent food options, and don't forget to tip your Skycap staff if you utilize that option when checking your bags. I learned they earn their keep through the tips since they're a third party not hired by specific airlines. But times are hard so if you can't afford it, they take smiles too!
Janine Beatty
Overall, a nice airport. Lots of amenities and well staffed. For Southwest, the check process worked well with a large pint of agents available to assist. TSA pre-check went smoothly and so did the regular security screening with a longer wait. Good amount of stores and restaurants in Terminal B.
Leo Bird
General Staff: Great
Food: Good
Bathrooms: Hmmmm? Decent, I suppose. A few exceptions, but not bad overall.
Cleaning staff: They work nonstop - good job
Nika Simmons
Please arrive 3hours earlier to ensure you catch your flight in time! Most of the service folks are really rude and yell at you alot along with giving out wrong information causing one to lose valuable time however the process despite all the restrictions long long lines etc was fast moving. Oh and I didn't have the correct mask and they don't sell them in the gift shop FYI and one rare kind friendly customer service person gave me one I am forever grateful ☺️!! She saved my flight she will never know what her act of kindness did for me!
Earle Douglass
Very good airport as far as they go. Pretty clean and haven't seen very long lines anywhere but Starbucks.
Biggest problem is outlets. They have weird circles in the floor where if you pull them up there are outlets. Otherwise this is years behind national airport which has USB and power outlets everywhere. Especially for people who are delayed or traveling with children, power is essential.
LeeMii
Much better than the last time I was here. Reminds me somewhat of CLT. Would be so much better charging stations were in Terminal B, I didn't see a single one. Lots of good food and nice shops.
Terrell Singleton
Definitely appreciate the fact that you don’t have to take out electronics at the security checkpoint.
Security was smooth and efficient. There r plenty of places to eat checkout the silver diner.
Jackie D.
I take no issue with BWI at all. Clean, friendly, and Easy to understand.
Gregg Usry
Nice airport. Easy to navigate. Lots of good food options.
almadd
Flew in to BWI on a weekday in August 2022 and only spent a short amount of time there before catching another flight. It was pretty crowded that day and the airport operations seemed typical to most other US airports. My only observable difference was that BWI had many more food establishments available for travelers than many of the others, especially Denver International.
Gregory Hansen
Wonderful customer service from American Airlines today. The security team was also very friendly... Only down side? The USO was closed and 20ish military guys ended up sleeping in chairs and on the floor.
Jack Pazin
It’s my “home” airport. It’s great if you plan on flying with Southwest since the majority of the flights from here are with that airline. Security can be a bit annoying just like anywhere else but getting to your gate is pretty easy. Tons of domestic flights are offered. International destinations are fairly limited and people usually go to Dulles instead for those. The airport also has a 10.5 mile running/biking trail that goes around it.
David Mugica
BWI is great airport. Clean, places to eat, quick lines and easy access to transit.
Be aware the rental bus is always a wait but the other buses are probably four to one ratio.
J. Chris Zimmer
Very modern and easy-to-navigate airport. First time here and pleasantly blown away by the restrooms; by far the NICEST restroom facilities I've ever seen in an airport...and I've been in a few around the world, haha!!
Gordon Family Forge
fantastic airport, only complaint is there are too few transports to the rental yard, you may wait 20 min at times to reach your rental car or get to the airport from the rental yard. they need an additional transport.
Charles Zoltak
Usually, I give BWI a higher rating. But, why are they doing Long Term Parking paving during peak travel months. Also, we arrived from LAX at midnight. There was a mob of travelers waiting for long term parking buses. The Daily Garage buses were coming one-after-the-other, as well as several Express Lot buses. Finally, someone had the initiative/sense to convert a Daily Garage bus to a Long Yerm Lot A bus.
Karen Finn
Airport ok. Going away from airport to sit in car rental terminal for 2 hours to wait for an existing reservation sucked. If ANYTHING put a food place in there. You get off a xxx hour flight...take bus to car rental terminal 10 min...and wait. And wait...and wait...good news they have a freakn vending machine. Good for them.
Katy Mullen
Not a lot of fast food choices.... but, the usual places. Not too busy. TSA isn't the nicest.
Harry KQ
Small to medium sized airport with great shopping and dining options. The airport is easy to navigate and feels very spacious.
Nita Brown
Why is there so much trash ON THE FLOOR? Gate a16/southwest. I have a 2 hour layover and thus far..the area has yet to be cleaned or maintained.
Lu Exc
Not usually my regular airport so I was surprised of the less crowded airport and nice observation deck.
Checking was fast.
The security point was slow and the person traveling was in there for at least 20 minutes to enter to the gate.
Jed Stancato
It was an easy airport to get around. Finding my flight was quick. The airport also had amenities near the gates that I needed.
Solomone Savelio
Love this Airport. So easy and so close to downtown Baltimore. Be sure to plan for the bus ride to the Rental cars Center. It's off the airport.
Eric Washington
I always love flying in and out of bwi. It has fairly good connectivity great parking options and is a easy airport to navigate. Generally delays are minimal and they have connections to virtually everywhere you need to be domestically but including London internationally. Out of the 3 Washington area airports flying domestic bwi is by far the best option.
Christine Lazarus
Very nice airport. Bathrooms were super duper clean...sounds weird...but I was very impressed. To be laid over for close to 4 hours, I was pretty ok with it and they had lots of food places, the ppl were super nice.
Sonata Chaterji
Maybe the best of the three airports: DCA/PHL/BWI. Can be used as a base for DC as well. About an hour from the convention center, Southwest flies direct here from many airports, so check this as an option. I prefer this one over the other two. Seems to also have good food options and clean/newer facilities.
Joe Weessies
Nice place but if you have tsa pre check. You have to go only to one place. Just a bit of a walk of you are flying AA. But the newer terminal A has lots of great places to eat
Dr. Jameson Lawrence, ESQ.
Clear is my super power weaving me through the masses of tired and irritable fellow flyers. I zipped through the line, through the Security and on to my always too far away gate along with my wife Tonya and voila! On the plane to Mexico
Sofia Rodriguez
This time it was ok at Baltimore the lady at my gate B6 was great she was friendly and willing to help had time to eat because I was here 3 hrs before boarding again.
Jason Zahn
Great smaller airport for DC region. Cheap parking, clean and updated in general, and good food options. They are now using the enhanced ID and taking your photo (yes even for domestic only flights).
Alma Moises
TSA agents warned passengers on what to place in the bins for ease and expidited security check. This process alleviate long lines thereby, smooth travel🙃 …
Tim Boothe
It's a bit confusing. There seemed to be 3 or 4 different places to go through security, but none of them were very clear where to go. Certain check points were for certain people. I got in 2 different lines before I had to go to another line. I saw a guy miss his flight mainly because he was running late but he did the same thing I did and got into the wrong line. Not my favorite airport.
motodex
It's Ok but def not my favorite airport. Needs some updates. They also need some better restaurants in the ticketing area. Sir Vesa's Taco Garage was insanely slow and the food was lame. The Dunkin donuts was the only saving grace. Restaurants inside security and near the gates are significantly better.
Sean Foley
Great airport - one of my favorites. A lot of restaurants and food choices. Security lines usually move quickly. If you have precheck there is rarely a wait.
Hisham
My hometown airport so I fly in and out of here frequently over the years. Have never had any issues. Some nice perks is that it has good restaurant selection, not massive that you need to take trains/shuttles in between terminals. Staff is friendly. Flights are on time for the most part. Could use more outlets for charging throughout the terminals though.
Brett O'Neill
Nothing wrong my the airport at all. They run a pretty tight ship from what I can see. I reserve my judgment for the experience with the airline.
Valerie Scott
No problems with my luggage, transportation, or customer service while at this airport.
Gabrielle Barfield
The staff at TSA were amazing! Everyone had a smile on, cracked jokes, but did their job throughly. Going through was a breeze!
Kelly Dennis (kelzipan L11)
2021 0622 Always loved BWI but a few years ago TSA PreCheck would take forever. Apparently in 2020, BWI and Tampa got new credential authentication technology. Doesn't seem to be at every checkpoint. I was at the B checkpoint. The license sized scanner looks similar to the sideways scanners at many gas stations. Added TSA photo from hstoday.us site. It grabs your card once inserted, scans it, and then slides it back out to you. The passport scanner (no pic) is a small flatbed like scanner on which you place the photo side of the passport. I also do not know if main security used these at B checkpoint but PreCheck did. Side note: Real ID will be required in 2023. If you don't have to renew until after that, get a new license before then!
The scanned images show up on the screen for the TSA officer. It verifies your flight information very quickly. No boarding pass needed to be shown! I was a bit shocked but it seemed to make it easier. On this June trip, neither HOU nor BWI made me take out my 2nd laptop. That was also different from pre-pandemic.
They also have some new bathrooms at the end of A concourse. Have the green/red light indicators if the lock is engaged. Spacious. Clean. 👍🏼 Took some pictures. 🤣
Saved the best for last. Go to Miss Shirley's Cafe before gate A13! They have locations in the Baltimore and Annapolis areas. Think the BWI location is their newest. You will be able to find my review and pics for it in a couple days. I highly recommend the shrimp with grits on fried green tomatoes and the chicken and waffles. Add a side of bacon (there is also bacon in the grits. The side of grits can be without bacon - not sure with the entree.) The jalapeño butter is so nice. Ask for a tiny bit of syrup on the side (my preference) and it is 💯. Get to the airport early and go to this place! Haha!
Dan Dering
The security line on Monday evening was 45 minutes minimum. That's too long relative to volume. Other than that, good airport..
Jason B
I know the summer is hectic but at least on 8/10 the airport was running pretty well and we got through everything rather smoothly. Shout out to the Amerocan Airlines attendant who was our hero of the morning and got us checked in after a a hotel shuttle was late in getting us there.
Zairah Shahid
Good for domestic travels, Hassel free, not much crowded and at convenient location. RECOMMENDED.
Heather Edwards
It's an airport! It has airplanes woooowooosh! And food. Some terminals seem like a long walk but aren't too bad. Thumbs up!
SL Brown
Nice airport and very cleanly, specifically the bathrooms. Was very surprised. The place was very crowded for a 6am departure. So get here early so you won't miss your flight. The TSA could be use a smile, lol. But over all excellent airport

I havent been to BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport for awhile but I have to say, first is public parking no matter what level is so easy to find a space. Just follow the green arrow and you'll get your space. Right down the level and parking space number.
Second, choose the elevator to 6th fl and choose the remote walk carrier and check in your luggage. Easy, simple and convenient and EXTREMELY CLEAN!
Since being a Marylander, pretty proud of the airport!
P S: Consider adding an Asian restaurant!

I only had a carry-on. Check in and security was a breeze. I did long term parking and got there 2 hrs early as strongly suggested.
Misty Clark
Great stores & restaurants! 4 hr. Layovers aren't fun!
Stacee Pair
The TSA employees are really rude. The lines are very long due to short staffing, so arrive early. Flights ended up overlapping each other; causing us to scurry like we were in a version of Home Alone.
Elizabeth Kringer
Great Airport when DCA doesn’t quite cut it. The Amtrak and shuttle to the airport make this a naturally easy choice to get in and out of the DMV area
Keith DeLaTorre
Easier to park than DCA, long term parking is the way to go if your trying to save a buck. But add an extra hour to your arrival time. GOD Bless!
Laurie Goette
Very easy to get around, clean, lots of food options. Security is usually moving well. Our favorite airport!
Shauna D
Security is usually always friendly. The shops have varied hrs which can be a pain depending on what time you're flying. The speaker system could be louder when trying to reach a passenger.
Confessions of Prakhar Mittal
Very quite airport specially in noon by evening it gets lil rush and even dunk-in donuts doesn’t serve you all options
Preferably you would walk in to restaurant provided you have enough layover time
Dorothea Harris
If you do what you told you want have no problems or delays going to security. So read the website find out what you can and can't take on the flight and just follow the rules.
sean holsey
BWI...is a pretty cool Airport. I like that you get chargers under the seats for your phone. It's not tooo too big. So BWI is easy to navigate.
Shawna Quarles-Johnson
Very busy, but CSR was superb. Handled what I needed right away. Our flight was delayed 35 minutes. We actually departed at 3:30pm and arrive in Buffalo/Niagara Falls, New York at 4:20pm.
Steve Jones
Beautiful area with many activities and dining opportunities. The tall ship Constellation is a must see and take some time for the aquarium!
Dredge
Giant airport just south of Baltimore with plenty of planes, runways and other fun airport things. There are at least 100 other places I'd rather go than Baltimore but absent choice, BWI is the airport I'd use to visit "Charm City".
George Peart
Boarded American Airlines, was told maintenance needed. 10 minutes later we have to disembark due to maintenance failure. I am always suspicious about American airlines plane but choose it because of the carry-on allowance. Not happy travelling American airlines at all!

The airport was empty . It was a Great day to travel . Zero crowds !! The airport was clean and running efficiently. No complaints. Just good traveling...
Robert “Rob” Commodari
Yesterday's experience was one of the best in a while. We landed, got our luggage and our FastPark ride was there quickly.

nice little gem, especially for international travel. it's a great airport but very busy lately. sometimes bumper to bumper when tryna enter to arrivals. other than that it's great.

I've flown out of BWI Thurgood Marshall International Airport over 20 times over the years and never had a bad experience. The best airline there is Southwest. Never had a problem with Southwest Airlines. Also flew American Eagle to Boston. Flew Continental to Texas and Delta to Atlanta.
BWI is always friendly and easy to reach via MTA Light Rail. MTA Light Rail takes you right into the heart of Baltimore City's Downtown. The Baltimore Light Rail brings to the door of the BWI International Terminal. If you need to go to Towson or Hunt Valley north of the City proper know that the Baltimore Light Rail takes you there.
BWI is generally very clean. The bathrooms are being replaced by state of the art systems. It is always possible ti find places in BWI that have their challenges because they are always rebuilding and improving. The BWI airport tower has been remodeled and upgraded countless times since was first built in the 1950's.
BWI's tower is still shaped much like it was when it was built as part of then Friendship Airport over 50 years old. BWI's terminal is an old building with many new extensions. The BWI Operations Tower betrays the true age of the facility with it blocky World War 2 shape.
All that said BWI is a nice simple basic airport for a mid-sized city like Baltimore. BWI is modern offering everything a 21st century air traveler needs. BWI's all black Goth look has not aged well but it is what it is. The baggage systems and other infrastructure works well. BWI is best accessed via the MTA light rail.
The Light Rail is usually well patrolled by MTA Police and MTA (Maryland Transit Administration) fare inspectors. I've found MTA fare inspectors and police to be helpful and respectful which is a true compliment from me as a black gentleman. I enjoy BWI enough to look forward to any visit when flying from Baltimore.
I've been to a LOT of airports in my life and BWI is among my better to best airport experiences.
Adesua Oseghale
Security queue took more than 60mins. South West airline check in and boarding was fantastic though. 5 *****
Aaron Hayes
Wasn’t too busy when we were there. Plenty of room in terminal and gates. Security was pretty quick too.
Matthew J. Bowerman
Despite crowds and traffic, BWI is clean and well- managed by airport ataff and TSA, making Charm City's airport a place that stands out from others.
Cory B. Flowers
Delta is the way to go, clean, purell wipes as you board, free movies and snacks, comfortable seating,
Derrick Grant
I took a Tuesday afternoon flight out of BWI Airport and the experience was remarkable. I assumed since it's such a large airport with numerous patrons transmitting, that I would encounter long waits at the airline counter and going through security. I was pleasantly surprised it was the polar opposite. From the time I arrived, checked in, cleared security and arrived at my gate, took me approximately 15 minutes. The airline staff and TSA Staff were extremely courteous and friendly. I recommend midweek and afternoon flights from BWI.
Peter A
Good airport to get in and out of. Plenty of food choices. Easy to get around.
Big hub for SWA so I use it a lot.
MWE School of Ministry Dr. M. D. Woods
A Great airport. Was through security and to my gate in 10 minutes. What's the problem with Atlanta and its hour and a half+ of stress?
Susanne Secada-Lovio
Renee stabbed my nose-was very professional, pleasant, and courteous.
This was very timely in the urgency of the need to travel to family in another country who need help.
candace k
We enjoyed Miss Shirley's for brunch. The city has alot to offer with great downtown restaurants like Occeanaire.
Caralee Case
Wow.. What a Amazing Airport.. seriously like a mall
Jeff Altman
Flying Dog brewpub is a great place to hang out. Nice bathrooms, bottle fillers, and power in gate seats.
Alexis Bravo
Airport traffic is pretty horrible but the airport itself is ok. Would like more modern water bottle refill stations and more access to chargers.
Nancy Pittman
Clean, lots of places to eat and shop. I spent very limited time here. I did not use baggage service, check in, security, or parking so I can't speak to those.
Op fishing
Descent airport. The luggage comes quick. If you need a rideshare go door 5 to upper level .
K K Q L S
Buying tickets at the counter continues to be the best option for flights with 14 days or more advance planning.
Edward Hutchinson
Great experience. A little busy. TSA agents were easy to deal with and very friendly. Tons of restaurants here including Chick-fil-A, Arby's and Ruth's Chris!! There was even an 'America' store. Nice to know Baltimore does not discriminate against those who would be offended by national pride. Kudos to BWI and I will always take pleasure in flying out of your airport :)
Jas G
Food, you can only eat the food that’s in your terminal once the security check is done. You may have to go through the entire process again if planning on going to other terminals.
Q Orr
Of all the airports I've flown out and to, this one is just ok. The workers seems like they hate their job, no directions. I also believe that all food places inside are over priced.
Anastasiia Iun
I think, based on what I saw there and employees I interacted with, overall I have a pleasant experience at BWI.
The employees were very polite and helpful. I did like their cute small observation gallery of a plane and some art as well.
Another nice thing I liked was plants. Please have more of those! They really add to the esthetics of the airport, travellers, and employees there.
I also liked seeing alive nature around. Thank you for keeping it alive. Maybe one day you can really invest more into the nature around and really turn BWI into a spectacular airport.
Scott Morse
I found the terminal clean including the bathrooms and there were many places to get food. People were polite and prompt.
Andrew Rossetti
Can't really give a useful update since the arriving flight we were meeting arrived at 12:30 in the morning. As a result, the place was empty and there were no issues. Easy in and out.
Krystal Brensinger
Very clean. Very friendly helpful ppl. Would definitely use this airport again!!!
Rico Simmons
Overall its a fairly good airport but it Need more porters for wheel chairs.
DeCarol Hayes
I like that the employees greet with smiles. This airport is clean and the shops are really nice.
Andrea Couto
Well run airport. Very clean, lots of eateries to choose from, staff throughout airport is friendly and helpful
Ericka Sutton
Nice airport. Went through TSA quick. Lots of shops and places to eat.
Rhonda Murray
The TSA check point was disorganized and chaotic. Some of the ASA agents were rude, unprofessional, and very disrespectful.
Nancy Penalver
good restaurant options. very clean airport good atmosphere
Nena Sibrian
It was great not crowded and everything went smoothly.
David Contents
New Orleans food dirty and they do not eat vegetables. Food is high
Elizabeth
2nd time flying out of Baltimore. Very easy to navigate through the terminal. Restroom was clean.
Mickie Vitela
Very easy to navigate, has plenty of dining choices and clean restrooms available close to gates.
David Chiwuoke
Nice air port. Staff a bit too enthusiastic about their job. Gates a bit far from security checks. So take note and give enough time to walk down.
Deb Bohn
Darn good PB-Banana smoothie. Could add a touch more banana, but very filling between flights.
angel marrero
Had a short trip. The long term parking is a blast. Good experience.
James Williams Sr
They don't have free wi-fi like other airports and not enough phone charging outlets.
Yonykis Noel
This has always been the preferred airport to travel out of the other 2 options. Traffic is usually light. My most recent trip TSA check was super easy (domestic flight) to get through. It could be a combo of new variant and/or post holiday slow down. I have yet to have a negative experience at BWI.
Update 11/24/22 I usually never travel during holidays but today was smooth sailing in TSA. BWI airport remains unmatched for this traveler.
Claudia
Easy access, fast check-in. Not many shops (for what I could see), fast boarding procedure, nice staff.
Char Adagala
Smaller airport. Easy to get through. There's arrivals on the bottom floor and the top floor is departures
Brian Matson
Nice airport the improvments will make it even better. Lots of food options to choose from.
Jason Koehler
I like this airport. It is somewhat smaller and easy to navigate. The security lines are usually very light. The restaurant choices are prolific. Only drawback is the bus shuttle to the rental car area but there are at least 3 of them operating so the wait is never that long!
Ryan Wakefield
Pretty dated airport, but the security lines were fast.
Marcia Erickson
Very nice airport. Good food court options. Easy to navigate and I love the rocking chairs by the windows on the concourses - if you have a long layover, it's a nice place to read a book or magazine while you wait.
Kimberly Johnson
Extremely large busy airport. Our flight was on time and enjoyable.
Shari Kain
The signs - One of the best ways to make your trip easy to manage. They have very clear signs for you to make your way to and from the terminals from parking. Very easy to get access elevators to skywalk to the main building. Make your trip less stressful.
Herbert Brackenridge
Good experience. Going thru TSA was a breeze.
No long lines.
John Lauritzen
The officers were doing everything they could to keep the traffic flowing.
It is almost a losing battle.
It does seem like alot of good planning has gone into the layout of this airport.
Today in arrivals everything was running great.
Mike Fielder
Picking up a family member and was able to wait in the available cell phone lot (free) without any issues until my family arrived. A good experience!
Jennifer Spriggs
Very nice clean airport with lots of food and drink options and some nice shops.
Joanna Selkridge
Its an airport so how do you rate it.. lol the TSA staff were polite and efficient, the compound was very clean, bathrooms were clean and well stocked.
Holly Gray
Been here a couple times, no problems security flows smoothly, not very busy or packed in the stores or hall ways. Everyone has been friendly I have delt with. I fly Delta only, at the gate haven't boarded yet, I usually have no issue on board.
Robert Leavitt
Busy. Relatively small for the amount of flyers. But efficient. Reasonable prices at airport food and other venues. Closer to Baltimore and suburban Maryland than Dulles or Reagan National. The only real negative is that the rent-a-car facility is a long bus ride from the airport. Overall, a good choice.
Endee Chuong
It was quite a good experience. I needed to go to the Delta Airline baggage office, and I was directed by workers. They were very helpful. The information desk was also very helpful.
Scooby D
Busy airport. Bathrooms need to be cleaned more often. Food selection is good.
Joshua Perry
Didn't have the size rental I booked so they offered me a selection of 7 different kinds of mini vans. Economy to van for free... pretty sweet deal
Pest Control Pros Maryland
Best airport in the state of Maryland enjoy the drive there beautiful scenery at Great guest meet you at the airport with information on where to go and help you through the security lines also getting to the right terminals way to go Baltimore Washington International Airport
Ruth Ann
Decent airport. Don't have to walk a long way to catch an Uber. Friendly airport staff.
Ted S
Easy to get in and out, as long as people don't park and wait, keep moving or go to the parking lot to wait.
Michael McAleer
Love picking up my loved one's. BWI easy in easy out
