Reviews of Baltimore Symphony Orchestra
Jasmine Cipko
Went to our 1st holiday spectacular show, and it did not disappoint so much fun and engaging throughout the whole show. The whole voice was magical and filled with holiday spirit and cheer all around. Will definitely be going again next year.
Robert Higbee
Exceptional orchestra, one of the great North American orchestras. The acoustics in the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall are great. The middle of the front of the first balcony presents a perfect balance of sound.
Johnnie Simpson
The BSO is an institution in Baltimore and it is always a pleasure to attend a performance here. The space is absolutely stunning, the music is always great. Definitely worth a visit whether you're in town for a few days or a longtime resident.
Joshua Fagan
A graceful, noble structure that was a part of the revitalization of Baltimore a few decades back. The circular shape is playful, with nice fluid curves, transforming a deadened part of Baltimore into a cultural mecca.
Sarah Petri
Fun experience. Great sound. Saw Home Alone, which was excellent. Lobby had local orchestra youth playing to warm us up, and even they were great. They serve popcorn and drinks you can relax with or bring to your seats. More relaxed than I remember, which all ages appreciated. Elevators are a little hard to find from certain seats. Lots of steps and escalators, so signage could be improved.
Dustin Slife
Very clean facility. Friendly staff. Decent parking around the area. Unfortunately, and maybe it was just an off night, but we came to see Jerry Seinfeld and nobody seemed to have tickets that matches the signs on the wall. So no one could sit themselves, even if they tried. Again, friendly staff, but there just seemed to be a ton of confusion on where to sit and how to get there. This is the first time I've been to a symphony for a comedy show so I won't pretend to be an expert on how the sound levels should be but we were in the middle up and middle across and anytime there was laughter (which was a lot) you couldn't hear the follow on jokes. Maybe for live music it's better. Overall enjoyable night but not quite what I thought an orchestra experience would be

I live near DC and I don't drive, so it says a lot that I keep coming back here for performances. The venue itself is comfortable and intimate. The lobby area is perfectly suited for drinks and conversation before the performance. I enjoy the space.
And every performance I've seen here has been immaculate. The BSO is highly talented and clearly enjoy what they're doing. I also love that they reflect an understanding of what people who actually live here might want to come see. The fusion shows have been incredibly refreshing and motived me to get back to the classics I used to enjoy in college, and the movie nights are a dream. I can see myself becoming a member soon. Great place to be.
Lady Bell
This is the absolute BEST way to watch a movie- with the score playing live with it!! The BSO is quite amazing!
Mark Button
First time to the BSO and really enjoyed both the venue and the orchestra. The seating is well spaced and not super cramped like a lot of other theaters where it feels like they are just trying to cram in an extra seats to make more money. Very modern aesthetic and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The option of paying to park at the garage across the street made the process very painless for our family of five.
Mark Henderson
World of dance - entertainment.
Baltimore Symphony was truly entertaining sounds of the world, a lovely combination and experience.
chuck mack
It was our first time there and we loved it. We saw the Home Alone movie it was great.
Lenelle Buterbaugh
Amazing building, great seating. Incompetent seating staff. We had to find out own seats, then 3 times we were told we were in the wrong seat, 2 of those times were after the performance stated. When in fact we were in the right spot.
Meghan Greeley
Always enjoy our visit to the BSO. Easy parking and entering. The music is always incredible, and the holiday concert was no exception. Looking forward to more visits. Yet another amazing benefit of living in Charm City!
Loraine Wilson
40th anniversary gala was nice featuring Ledisi. Venue ran out of souvenir cups which was disappointing. Loved the after party featuring one of my favorite jazz players, Cyrus Chestnut Quartet🎶👏🏽💃💯 …
Jamie
My 1st visit was lovely, and I plan on returning. The venue is aesthetically pleasing and the orchestra was enjoyable.
Nashé High
Awesome experience seeing Black Panther Concert
Gary M
Went to the Beethoven to Beyonce Fusion concert New Years Eve. A wonderful event, with so many different styles and people together for a great concert.
Andrew Creveling
We saw Home Alone in concert and it was stunning. The sound, the atmosphere, the drinks, were all top notch.
Stephen Sternheimer
New leaders very conscious of trying new things (music & programming) while preserving classics. Greater audience info & education thru commentary & program a plus. Also performing thru put state making accessible to all. We like evolving orgs🤭🤭 …
Iram Carmona
For my first time, it was Great. I loved it. And the drinks available for purchase before the show and during intermission made it perfect. The preforms is definitely top notch. My hat goes off to these musicians. They played amazing. And the solo acts were fantastic. I went on International Women's Day, and the solo violinist was incredible. She rocked it. I cant wait to look for more performances.
Donna K
The Holiday Show was excellent. Beautiful, diverse arrangements, light spirited, and with a bit of snow, tap dancing Santas, and the Grinch. Something for everyone! What a delight. The BSO should not be missed!
Magenta
First time visiting it won't be the last. I attended the event for new year eve and it was amazing. Beautiful music. Can't wait to visit again.
Diana Wright
It's wonderful to be able to hear and see the symphony playing in the Meyerhoff again! The BSO has been excellent 2 weeks in a row... Music selection and guest conductors shine!!
Pamela Voulalas
We are so fortunate to have this great orchestra in our backyard! Support the BSO!
Ant J
Visited during Cece Winan's Holiday concert Dec 2019. I hadn't visited the BSO venue in a couple decades. Happy to see that the venue is still kept up and there really isn't a "bad" seat in the house.
Willie F Chin
Fabulous evening out with the BSO. Great location and facilities for a concert. Music and the dancing was top notch.
Max Green
My orchestra (yes, it is mine, and yours, too) is the best orchestra I could ever imagine. I recently became a member of the BSO and my wife and I have went to performances twice over the last few weeks. Their student passport program provides incredible value for graduate students, with free passes to a number of shows and $10 add-on tickets. I saw them perform a pop/rock show with a Vegas performer during our first visit and Mahler and Beethoven pieces the second. On both occasions, I was blown away. Also, the orchestra hall is incredible.
Miriam Whitehead
This awesome structure was beautifully designed. Clean on the inside with a determinedly clean staff that wore mask and we're very polite. The food was awesome the desert was great. Even the parking lot attendants we're on point! Nice place to hold an event! Paul Shaffer and Martin Short we're a great Plus to this event.
Avi Drabkin
I love the concerts here!! And they have great student prices, which I really commend them for
Kelly Holland Fitzgibbons
Always a nice time here to watch the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. We've had seats in several sections and have not yet had a bad view. Acoustics are great and performances have been enjoyable. Parking can be a riot and fills up quickly so come early!
Adrienne Nelson
OMG!!!! Ledisi we love you!!! The show was excellent with a touch of elegance!!!! Long live Nina Simone!!!
ronald chong
it was our first visit to the meyerhoff to attend the first performance of the messiah 2017. wow, the hall is beautiful. modern, bright and warm. the staff are diverse and friendly. there's a small eatery where you can purchase light fare and drink. the conductor, symphony and chorus themselves were exception, as you'd expect. and their performance of messiah just blew us away. polochick's interpretation was like we'd never seen/heard before and it was thrilling. to top off our outing, the parking was free and easy to access. (tip: we'd pre-purchased parking tickets to symphony center parking. the gps took us to the back side of the structure, which was closed for us and may be for you. instead, have your gps take you to the meyerhoff directly and you'll then see signs for parking, which is just across the street.)
Columbus Dean
Great experience. I enjoyed every moment. The orchestra performed amazingly and the staff was very courteous and helpful. I had such a good time with my friends. I would highly recommend to them.
Gerri Hall
The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra is the world class orchestra in our own backyard. Love it!
Donna Martin
The orchestra and Marin gave a powerful and moving performance on Veterans Day.
Mike D
Went and saw the Harry Potter Live series. What a fun time!! The orchestra was amazing along side the movie. The conductor was very entertaining as well. The audience being allowed to participate was super fun. Hearing everyone cheer or jeer at their favorite and least favorite characters was a hoot. Definitely will attend another HP Live event here and recommend to others.
Joey Knight
Absolutely breath taking. The venue and performers out exceeded my expectations.
Win Leitzer
Acoustics phenomenal. Being on line outside you are made to feel like cattle being ushered along. You don't need to be told to move forward. There is one entrance. It's pretty easy to figure out how to get in and to walk forward. Mention to the folks outside that it's not necessary for them to herd us in. Let's be more professional.
Joan Pugh
There are no words to describe how fantastic this concert was.
Paul Sparks
Slightly uncomfortable seat. Screen could have been set further back to show off more of the orchestra. More than made up for by the great acoustics and dazzling performance.
Anne M.
A wonderful music hall! Heard many lovely orchestral concerts here, both modern and classical pieces. So glad we have this treasure in Baltimore.
Rebecca McAtee
Always a joy to see a performance here. I love the family shows and the accessibility to take younger children to enjoy such beautiful music from talented artist. The staff is always so helpful they put the charm in charm city.
Amy Hall
I just saw Star Wars with the BSO playing the sound track for the movie. It was amazing! Highly recommended for any fan. The BSO performed spot on, thier timing was perfect and just made the whole experience magical.
Brian Payton
Loved the Godfather live expierence. I havent been to the Meyerhoff in years. I will be back
Hainan Xu
I really like BSO. On average I go to their concert every 2 weeks. As a Hopkins student I can just buy a season pass for $35 and have access to almost all programs in the year, which is really nice.
Every once in a while they have a movie concert where they play the movie on the screen and they play the music in the movie. Its absolutely amazing.
Dianne Houston-Crockett
Acoustics and are always top notch. There's also a choice of paid parking garages and lots in the area too.
patty hedges
Outstanding performance of the Messiah...beautiful facility. Event parking is located conveniently adjacent to Meyerhoff...$12 fee.
Anna Pamela Calinawan
Beautiful space and great programming. Get there early though, they start very punctually and finding seating can be confusing.

Have had to edit this review. The person at the members lounge entry point made me uncomfortable and honestly seemed to be profiling to selectively check membership
Geoffrey Hart
It was so wonderful to be back at a Baltimore Symphony after such a long absence due to COVID-19. The concert was beautiful - even in the back of the auditorium as we were. The safety protocols of requiring vaccinations and masks seems sufficient to make the event safe. All in all... a great night out all around. We are looking forward to the next opportunity to soak in the music.
Tedd Mayer
Four of us went to see Diana Krall...it was amazing! Great venue
Gary Lee
Outstanding Show and Music!
steven sydnor
It was fine really enjoyed concert like I always have . The only problem that I continue to have with the BSO is a problem of not many and any at this time African Americans in the BSO at all now for as many educated and trained artist not just Baltimore area also the mid Atlantic region .
Libby Hochhalter
Great show with Jerry Seinfeld. Long and quick moving line to get in.
Rod Hobbs
Jack Eberly presented a great program with a salute to John Williams and his music.
Michael Reed
Always entertaining. I love the different programs they offer.
Walter Milligan
Absolutely incredible performance! We went for Star Wars the Empire Strikes Back and it was a lot of fun to experience the music in person with the movie.
Zakiyyah Briones
Very nice Christmas music from the symphony. The skit was funny!
Linda Swenson
Comfortable, seats that allow you to see well no matter where you sit.
Kym Bee
We watch the Star Wars movie and the live Orchestra played a long. What an Awesome Experience to feel every instrument played during each part of the movie. 👏 …
Tashi Jelani
Excellent venue. The Hiplet performance was outstanding. I do wish the music could have been a little louder. Helps those that are hearing impaired as well as, helping with the acoustics.
T Davis
I love attending BSO. The programs are fresh and cohesive. They bring in a diversity of talent and conducting. The themes are inventive, provocative, and thought-provoking. It's just a delight every time.
John
Always and amazing experience at one of Baltimore's iconic landmark
Nick Disabatino
Had the chance to experience their Beatles performance at the Meyerhoff. Well done.
Jonathan Lockwood
Music mastery at it's finest! Thank you for a magical evening.
Eric M Sellers
Amazing time. Enjoyed the band before the main event. The sympathy combined the music of Brahm and Radiohead beautifully. Definitely an experience I'll never forget.
Marylou Farnsworth
After 16 long months, it was great to be back to hear a live performance of the BSO. The musicians were top- notch. The audience was small in compliance with CDC guidelines. Please support the Symphony and plan to attend when you can. Better still, subscribe to the upcoming season.
Darrell Taylor
Incredible performance by Nicola Benedetti playing the Wynton Marsalis Violin Concerto. Enjoyed Angelica Castello's Star Washers opener. New and invigorating from a Jazz Enthusiast like me. Thank you Marin Alsop and the BSO. Bravo. Great performance from all. Glad that we didn't miss this one.
N Barr
Wonderful and beautiful space. The acoustics are great! The Paulo works. The park across the street is lovely.
Alethea Smith
Took Girl Scout troop to see Swingin Nutcracker.... Great music and dancers. My troop was able to meet the Fly Dancers.
Melissa C
Beautiful concert hall. We saw the final performance of the BSO study week - lovely night.
Keith Jones
It is commendable that BSO reaches out to bring in the surrounding Black Community. The young conductor who composed and arranged the Lyrical Melding of Rap and HipHop Icons Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls in an orchestral setting was brilliant, engaging and wondrous.
Becky Burk
Orchestra is 2nd to none! The acoustics are perfect!!
Traci Morton
Here for the Beethoven to Beyoncé aka Bee², IT WAS EVERYTHANG!!!!
Lana Gorbacheva
I went to Kim Walker’s concert here and absolutely loved it! I came first to buy the tickets - super awesome experience - they were very fast and didn’t even have a line. Very nice staff. The concert was organized great I thought. They did have lines and security but everyone was let in pretty quickly. Great stage and beautiful atmosphere!! Definitely will be back!!
ushasi bhaumik
It was mesmerising experience.
Caryl Mussenden
Had tickets for the Wizard of Oz and the BSO playing the score. Took the grands. It takes it to a new level with the Judy Garland version. Loved it.
Patrick Monahan
1st time here in years. Orchestra was unbelievable in sound, quality and timing with West Side Story playing on a large screen. Parking was nearby and convenient. Conductor was relentless all evening and her movements and timing were majestic to see. She alone was worth watching for the evening.
James Lytle
The BSO plays with such elegance and precision, one leaves it's concerts wondering how those people did what they did.
And the Meyerhoff, albeit a venue that feels stuck in an earlier, less sophisticated and worldly era, is a hall that compliments the silvery sheen and exactness of the band.
I like to sit up in the rafters, on the Terrace Level, near the back. To my ear, the hall pulls the sound up there in a perfectly balanced form, furthering the transparency of sound the band plays with naturally.
And there is no "star" section of the orchestra. All five string sections play with brilliance, producing a sound that breathes and comes at the listener as if being produced by a large quintet of single players. And every other member of the orchestra is equal to meeting that same standard.
The BSO is an orchestra every conductor should be working to lead; because the instrument it is is one of the finest available to the public today. If in B'more, one should make it a point to hear the band in the Meyerhoff. And if one has the means and time for "arts" travel, I highly recommend one's considering Charm City for a visit. The BSO, the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Walters, the American Visionary Art Museum, and the amazing food scene in the city, and, of course, the blue crab in season all recommend B'more to connoisseurs for a visit.
And B'more is still relatively inexpensive!!!!!
Julia Lasher
I really enjoyed both the musical selections and the expertise of the orchestra. The ride to BSO was smooth but the Ravens traffic is holding us up. Definetly worth it.
David Birzin
Incredible performance! Highly recommend
Brad Schlegel
Always an excellent place for fine music. Just wish all the seats were filled.
Daniel Wright
Fantastic musical experience. Great atmosphere, amazing musicians. My only complaint is the seating. For the larger audience members, the seats are not sufficient. Neither breadth nor depth is adequate in the upper balcony sections. Perhaps this isn't a problem in the lower sections. Intermission is greatly appreciated to stretch your lower extremities.
Jay Jenkins
Wonderful music venue. Great sound. And if course a world class orchestra. Food quality is quite poor though especially for the expense. (A gas station wrap is actually better quality and value). But you don't go for the food.
James Shaw
It was an awesome show. The BSO was so impressive and the dancers/acrobatics were unreal. A great night.
Stephanie Stewart
Nice venue. As a large person I find the seats comfortable. I will say that if there is a tall person in front of you it's harder to see because it doesn't have "true" stadium-type seating. However, we were here to see/hear the BSO, one of the best orchestras in the world right in our home town.
Jeongheui Lee
Wonderful experience.
Strongly recommend.
Mikia Heard (Meek2442)
This venue is so pretty inside. I enjoyed sitting up on the tier balcony but I want to check out the view from the floor to see if it is worth it. I think the lobby red carpeting needs to be upgraded but overall the small intimate rooms/doors on the balcony level is cozy and exclusive. Great for a date night.
Jacob North
Had an amazing time at the concert! I will definitely be attending another one soon.
Libby JollyStone
The movies they have been putting on is a great way to get new audiences in the building. I have seen 2 movies so far and loved the experience. The screen is plenty big and the sound is balanced well between the orchestra and the movie. Watch out- some nearby parking is cash only!
ROBERT FRIENDLY II
The music was so beautiful, with a Heavenly sound!!!
Geri S
Saw the Harry Potter movie concert and it was great! It added a lot to the HP experience.Only drawback was it was warm in the theatre on a summer day and our seats weren't roomy. But next I will just splurge for seats with more space. Overall a great time!
Jane Nitsch
Such music to my ears. Treat yourself
peggy king
BSO is amazing. Probably the best symphony in the USA.
Tim Gilligan
Skip the Food, enjoy the pods! I love the architecture of this space, a bit of a labyrinth with parallel staircases and a balcony/mezzanine spit into pods. We enjoyed racing up and down the stairs and seeing all the various acoustic options from the top of the venue to the front row. Will have to return to hear the Symphony play, but I can image that the sound is exquisite. The food could see better days, but you are at a concert, skip the salad, grab a glass of wine, and bask in the sounds of the space.
Errol Smith
The concert was really great, but one of the two ultra slow, undersized elevators was not working. Eighty year old patrons should not be expected to walk up 5 flights of stairs to enjoy a concert. Come next season my wife and I do not intend to renew our pops season subscription until both elevators are operational.
Duane Davis
Had a good night at the Weaver Awardee Event
Blair Lynn
Saw Nurse Blake. We had a blast.
Brian Beverly
Lunar New Year program was very moving.
J. Berendt Photography
Very nice. Saw John Williams conduct BSO there... fantastic. 4 stars for every concert hall because too few toilets. Let's be real. That's ALWAYS an issue at intermission. Bring cash to park too. Its 2018 but concert halls and their surrounding lots/garages have no idea what a Square is.
Teresa Schrift
The venue is very nice and the orchestra was great! The bag check, vaccination check, and ticket check line was fairly efficient.
Jake “Radar” Lecroy
Went to the Star Wars A New Hope performance, outstanding and great experience. Rare occasion where drinks and snacks allowed in the seats. Only disappointment was that they didn't perform the music to the cantina scene and let the movie soundtrack play that selection. Separate copyright? Dunno.
Whitney Novak
Always excellent, a superb orchestra with a brilliant conducting with Marin Alsop, Nicholas Hersh, and Jack Everley. The guest conductors and musicians are always great and the orchestra sounds fabulous whatever the piece. I like it when they showcase musicians already in the symphony as much as the superstar guest musicians.
Nichol
Have seen each Harry Potter + Symphony pairing and it's like watching the movie for the first time. The space is clean, staff are helpful & friendly, and the experience is magical. From someone who isn't traditionally drawn to this kind of setting, I would highly recommend any of the movie pairings
Mark Zeller III
Enjoyed the experience of marrying a movie and the score played live. Can't say enough about how cool that worked. The seating is less than comfortable and if you sit near folks who don't fit in their seat...it is worse. Don't sit too close to the stage, if you are taking in a movie.
Kathryn St. Landau
Love our local BSO! They always perform at the highest level, and are really world-class. I have been to many performances with my family and loved each and every one. The people who work there are accommodating and helpful, as well. Their various events even make going to the symphony with children "do-able" and fun! My son has enjoyed seeing movies on their big screen, with the orchestra playing along, as the soundtrack. We recently saw their performance with Troupe Vertigo, called "Cirque goes Hollywood", and MY GOODNESS! How beautiful! The Hollywood film music, live orchestra, mixed with Cirque performances on stage, was simply amazing!!! Simply, take a chance on your local BSO, for a wonderful night out on the town ❤️🎼🎶
Elizabeth Stokes
Wonderful concert and a great way to introduce kids to the symphony.
Anthony Quinn Jr
The trip to the Meyerhoff this past weekend was for the Final Fantasy Symphony. This is the second time I have been to the Meyerhoff and both times I was very impressed with the entire experience.
Transition into the main lobby was easy, as they had plenty of staff to scan the tickets of those coming in, so there wasn't a wait. The concessions were reasonably priced considering.
The main reason for 5 stars however is the actual symphony hall. It is gorgeous and well laid out. The acoustics have been carefully molded to give the listener the best experience, no matter where you are sitting. I would highly recommend seeing a show here.
Jennifer Greenslit
We came for the Konzerstuck and the horns were wonderful. It was a very special performance. My daughter is studying horn in college, and she flew in especially for this concert.
The BSO is very special to us. I remember my grandmother taking me when I was in high school, and we have fond memories of my daughter in their youth orchestra.
Jameson Bontuyan
Baltimore Symphony Orchestra was so surreal
Ian Halverson
Great experience here. Took an Uber so I can’t speak for the parking. But the staff seemed well organized, and the facility is beautiful and resonant. We thoroughly enjoyed hearing the works of Mendelssohn and Bruckner here. Would certainly attend again.
pat Ritter
Played alongside the movie west side story. It was great. A shame they lost their funding and are shut down.
John Maxwell
The symphony for the elementary students was excellent. The first half had great photography to go with it, the second half had none. For children this was a huge missed opportunity. The BSO could have used footage from the Hubble telescope to show galaxies far far away. The astronaut was an excellent speaker and a big hit.
Sally Finkel
Please help save the BSO. They are phenomenal musicians and we need this first class, formally full season orchestra to thrive. These talented performers comprise one of Baltimore's best assets. We need all the positive publicity we can get!
Enduman
*** please press that like button if my review helped you out -thanks ***
Awe man, I went for the first time the other day, and absolutely loved it. I hate that they are having some financial issues. If you have some extra $$$ be sure to donate! I wish I could donate more but I am as broke as the BSO!
Parking - make sure you bring some cash!
Light rail stop is pretty close!
Staff is so friendly
Refreshments are priced well
Crowd feels like they are your neighbors.
Facility is crazy nice
...and the orchestra was to die for. So good!
We picked up tickets to the West Side Story Movie event, and it was really fun. Funny when the credits rolled at the end of the movie everyone got up to leave like they were at the cinema. Dont forget you came for the orchestra if you hit up one of these type events, and they are still playing when the movie credits roll. Lol.
Mary Beth Sodus
Never fails to entertain and inspire. Love ALL the conductors! Season tickets for pops series would be a great introduction to the space. Went to outstanding Bernstein celebration ( 2 standing ovations), wish the music at the after party was danceable and that chocolate cake was still available.
Jeffrey Dufresne
Beautiful venue with amazing musicians but you'll want to magically teleport yourself. if it's possible to drive there and park then it's a closely guarded secret. Google maps sent me to a blocked off entrance on a 1 way street under construction so the evening started poorly.
Tucker Chason
The best way to watch a movie is to have a very impressive orchestra perform the music of the film. Seriously one of the best experiences I have been a part of in Baltimore. Highly recommended!
Jake Kowalchek
We went with some friends to the Meyerhoff to watch the BSO perform Harry Potter with the movie playing in the background. We had an excellent time and noted that it appeared as though there wasn't a bad seat available in the theater. The theater appeared to be designed so that each upper section was separated into what I can only describe as floating pods. Each row of seats was elevated sufficiently so that every seat had an unobstructed view of the stage (although I cannot speak for the lower level seats because I could not see them). The theater itself was so artfully designed that it added to the experience of how great the BSO was in their performance. The only negative that I had for the day was that the bartender was extremely slow, people attempted to line up at intermission for refreshments but were unable to get them, I'd estimate about 5-7 people were serviced by this particular bartender due to his slow speed. Improve the rate of service and this place it 5 stars! Or if you do not care about food/drinks, then this place is definitely 5 stars! I would go again for sure.
Shelli D
I enjoy going to this place. The atmosphere is very nice and I have enjoyed each performance that I've attended. The ushers are very helpful. I catch the light rail when I go, because it is literally across the street, so I can't comment on parking.
Dave Liu
The Meyerhoff concert hall was wonderful, listening to BSYO. Good parking across the street.
Vaughn Hewes
This year's Holiday Pops Show was excellent. Great to have winner of the Voice and drummers from The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Baltimore Choral Society Choir, The Dancing Santa's. All wonderful. Gets you in the spirit of Christmas.
Nancy Glass
The BSO is wonderful and the Meyerhoff lovely. My only concern is the folks running late who are seated during the performance. I would suggest that should you not be able to arrive on time, the theater seat people for 5 minutes into the performance only. There is always intermission.
Monique Rivera
Went to see the Star Wars A New Hope with music played by the Symphony Orchestra. It was awesome. Facilities are clean and nice. Parking is available at a good price.
Doug Brown
My brother and I saw Star Wars: A New Hope - In Concert at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, and it was beyond amazing. I had never seen an orchestra live before, and it was a great introduction. The feeling was indescribable. I would love to go back and see the orchestra just for themselves.
Robin Brodkin
I went there for a CeCe Winnen performance with the BSO and the Morgan State Chior. And the show was fantastic!!
The theater was also fantastic!! They ushers were wonderful, there for help and ensuring that no rules were broken. For example, no body photographed or vidieo what couldn't be.
But the handicapped parking and overall handicapped access was quite poor. Considering the size of the the theater and the number of people who who attended there were two small elevators for the entire place, and one escalator that only went up/one floor.
If there had been a fire or disaster of sorts people would not be able to leave. In today's world it's something that needs to be improved.
David Miers
Lovely program, wonderful experience.
Michelle Annas
I took my teenage daughter to see the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and Chorale perform Handel's Messiah. The experience was fabulous, the performance was exceptional and the venue was great. I'll be going back for other events!
August Vanderdonckt
The "off the cuff" series are great. (The conductor talks about the music before and after some of the pieces to provide interesting facts and context arout the music). They have lots of different season ticket options and have never had a problem switching one performance for another.
Michelle Chudow
We love the BSO! Despite all the recent issues, the orchestra sounds as good as ever. We are so lucky to have this group of talented musicians in our city.
Chavon Bailey
Wonderful experience listening to the BSO and Ledisi
Barellie Thompson
I've went here for their showing of Harry Potter where they play the soundtrack live. And I've been for one of their BSO Pulse shows when they brought in Esperanza Spalding. Both were great shows and well worth the money (which relatively wasn't much in my opinion).
Eric Gernat
Saw the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire performance. So much fun seeing the movie to a live orchestral score! Venue is very close to light rail and a few restaurants/bars where patrons can relax before showtime!
Erik Devereux
The home to the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra has excellent acoustics for enjoying classical music. It's a beautiful space. There are pre-ordered catered meals available and bar service at intermission. Get a mixed drink as the wine alternatives leave much to be desired. The closest parking garage only accepts cash on symphony nights.
Cory Shim
Great orchestra with a great hall to showcase their wonderful musicianship and talents. If you have a chance to see and hear Marin Alsop conduct the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, do so. You won't miss out.
TJ Koerner
Ron White was great but the sound system at the Meyerhoff was very disappointing, we missed so much that at times we were straining to understand what was being said. I expected better acoustics than was delivered very disappointed with the venue not Ron White. Will think again before i book anything at the Meyerhoff.
Kenyon Royster
If you want a fantastic orchestral experience ranging from classical, Pop and Rock artist collaboration, or even seeing the score of one of your favorite films performed live while watching the movie itself...look no further than the BSO at the Meyerhoff. These talented musicians are able to do anything justice and it is ALWAYS a fun time.
Pedro Marin
If you are into symphony music, there is no better investment than to listen to the Baltimore Youth Symphonic Orchestra.
Eileen McCarthy
I always enjoy the BSO at the Meyerhoff. Tonight's program was engaging. It is a comfortable venue. I have yet to have a seat that I didn't like there. Parking can be a little sparse so go early.
Stewy Slocum
The BSO is one of the best orchestras in the US, and they have a symphony hall to match. The orchestra explores new material while always keeping in touch with the established classical tradition. The venue itself is wonderful, with a beautiful concert hall and good acoustics. Light meals and refreshments can be ordered outside the concert hall, and a free issue of the BSO's magazine Overture is provided which is very good, by the way. The location is nice as well, in an artistic area with plenty of parking nearby. Very safe part of the city.
Harland Abraham
Beautiful hall. My son was invited to play with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. It was seeing him playing with all the professionals. All the years of work and dedication has come playing in this beautiful symphony hall.
Bridgette Bullock
My favorite venue in Baltimore. I attended a worship and praise service there on Easter. Hosted by the i5 City church ⛪️. The Meyerhoff is a beautiful music 🎶 hall with the best acoustics. I’ve been attending concerts there for 30 years and the BSO is irreplaceable.💓🎼 …
Jeff Spector
I've had the opportunity to to both bear great music and play great music in the Meyerhoff. I highly recommend the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. They are great players, under the baton of Marin Alsop. Seeing them in concert is a wonderful experience.
Peg McCarthy (peggiemac)
Chris Botti put on an excellent show! He gave his ensemble of musicians and vocalists time to shine individually! And his interactions with the audience were totally unexpected! Please have him back to Baltimore soon!
Allen Wroe
In hearing Handel's Messiah for the 1st time in the Meyerhoff, I was once again reminded how fortunate Baltimore is to have the infrastructure and talent to transport me and many others to a different place of goodness. The synergy of a deceased composer's work with most capable musicians, conductor, vocalists, and a building's acoustical architecture was a profound experience. It dissolved me in body and in time into a sense of blissful unity. It is hard to put a price on such experiences.
Jason Humm
Great place to see a show.
Scott Elson
The musicians are world class and I always enjoy the music selection. I highly recommend the "Off the Cuff" series since the pre-concert talks are very informative and the after parties are a lot of fun.
Sherrell Savage
Beautiful venue & sound is wonderful. There are no bad seats
Angel Coutroupis_Murrill
Smphony was amazing. The conductor absolutely charming and entertaining as well as the orchestra. Seeing CeCe Wiands was magical, her voice clear and beautiful. Having her and Morgan's choir backed with the orchestra brilliant,it made for an excellent kick off Christmas celebration.
Jamie Bierst
Shout out to the gentleman at the box office, from a grateful grad student who loves great classical music. Excellent venue, fair prices. Instantly a favorite concert hall I must frequent.
Darlene Nevin
Concert hall home of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and performance location for various other performers stopping in Baltimore. Venue is somewhat tired and dated. Bathroom accessibility can be difficult, with long lines and sometimes the need to go to a different floor to get to a bathroom. Parking requires use of one of two high-risk parking garages nearby, and crossing a street or walking a half block to the concert hall. On our last visit, the only elevator in the garage building was not working, which we were informed of on the event website. Obviously, many concertgoers did not know that and climbing the stairs both directions was difficult for many patrons. Compared to many lovely venues I have visited in other cities, this is just ok.
Alex Guerrieri
We’ve been here for various concerts, and have yet to have a bad experience. Food and drink costs are a bit high, unfortunately, but we don’t come here for the food. The music is always impressive, and we’ve yet to have a bad seat. It’s unfortunate that the parking structure wasn’t better designed, but it’s hard to blame that on the symphony.
Jimmy Nichols
First time seeing Ron White after seeing just about everything he's done in media, and loved it. Very nice facility, plenty of doors, friendly staff saw us and found us our seats in under a minute. Very nice.
La-Kia Kommeren
I love coming here. It has been some years since my last visit and it has not changed a bit.
M. Torres
Seating is relatively closer than what the seating map charts. The stage is also quite big, particularly, for a comedian (Sebastian Maniscalco) who we went to see. Entering, seating, and exiting is straight forward and simple.
Do note, we sat in what appeared to be separate seats, A2 and A4, but it's an even row.
Mike D
World class performances in a beautiful setting. BSO also does a great job of doing different ticket offers to make the experience more accessible i.e. attend one and get half off the next, or mini-subscriptioms like 3 performances for $75.
Natashua Uranga
Beautiful place and beautiful music!
Traci Mooney
If you have someone with you who is handicapped, you are screwed. The parking around the Meyerhoff is very limited. The street parking right outside used to be reserved for handicap parking only but Baltimore City changed it so anyone can park there. Hopefully someone can drop off the handicap patron. The venue itself is very nice, but I wonder how many people don't go because of the parking situation.
Jill Ferris
Beautiful music in a beautiful space. Cocktails are $11 and the music is great.
John Lundquist
No better way to see the Empire Strikes Back than with Baltimore's world class orchestra playing the score
Adam Thomas
I enjoy the spacious and beautiful looking building. There was guides for parking and seating a drink bar and it was family friendly. Prices were a bit steep but, 3$ a bottle of water.
Daniel Rivera
Lovely experience. Parking is convenient although expensive. It's pretty much you're only option though. Everything was presented well at the symphony. Ushers were very kind in assisting.
Lucy Nothing
I love the family-oriented programs. I love taking my kids to see real music, and especially the creative productions around movies. It is such a great experience!
Maureen Stark
We love the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. They are such a talented group of musicians who never fail to deliver heartfelt and dramatic performances. Last night, we went to see and hear Denzal Sinclair, renowned for his outstanding renditions of Nat King Cole songs, Jack Everly who leads the BSO's Pops series and of course the orchestra who (more than) well- accompanied the vocals. What a wonderful concert and a great way to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Nat King Coles' birth. I'm so glad that the orchestra is back on stage for the season.
Valerie Jams
My new go place thanks BSO for the culture
Colleen Koerner
Jerry Seinfeld was as entertaining as always.
Adam Baker-Siroty
Love going to see the Baltimore Symphony perform here, the acoustics are excellent. the BSO always has a great variety of programming from the contemporary soundtrack to classical masterpieces. That being said parking for shows does add to the expence as there is minimal to no street parking in the area.
Henry Farkas
Went to the BSO to hear Tony DeSare who, apparently, loves a piano. The symphony hall is beautiful, and it has great acoustics.
The musicians at the BSO are all virtuosos. Tony is a very good pianist, and he can sing pretty well. Unfortunately, when he plays stuff by the Bee Gees and Elton John it becomes clear that he's not the Bee Gees, and he's certainly not Elton John. The pieces I enjoyed the most were the one he wrote himself because he is himself.
The reason I gave this place only three stars is that there was a person, probably male, in the audience who must have thought he was at the M&T Bank Stadium watching a Ravens game. He didn't clap at the end of some of the pieces. He hooted with a 110 decibel sound pressure level, a level that causes damage to the inner ear.
You might think that it's unfair of me to take some stars away from the BSO because of something an inconsiderate person in the audience did. Well frankly, that person (I will not refer to him as a gentleman) should have been summarily ejected from the auditorium the first time he made that loud, obnoxious noise. He wasn't. He was there all the way to the end of the show.
Everett Mitchell
What a fantastic experience. The facility is great and the musicians were dynamite. Even though we were in EE section, seats were great. Definitely going back.
Lola Camila
This place is so perfect and beautiful, I went to a concert and the acoustic and harmony were great, of course this also means that if a baby cry or a person coughs it is going to be amplified by ten. Either way my experience here was perfect.
Nicole
World class amazingly gifted musicians!!
Karenia Ramos
Went here to see Bodega Boys (Desus& Mero), show. Place is big but very dated. The seats seem very old & since they seem to allow food & drink in there, they should add drink holders that maube fold in & out depending on the show. They hsd a vendor selling some fajita tyoe food but was very bland & not worth the $, but we were from out of town & hungry lol. Drinks were good.
Tristan M.
The kids programs are wonderful. The collaboration with 89.7 wtmd for the pulse series is an amazing experience! The seats are reasonably priced. Coat check and bar available. Handicap accessible.
William Lieberman
The BSO at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall is simply wonderful. A must do when you travel to Baltimore (or live here). The Meyerhoff is simply a wonderful venue. Acoustics are amazing (as one would expect). Plenty of parking. Easy access. Just great.
The BSO also does concerts in the Summer at Oregon Ridge. These are wonderful evenings with a picnic dinner and great music under the stars.
Mariayne Brodnicki
Candide Friday, June 12, was amazing, wonderful, amazing, delightful. The cast was extraordinary, the chorus (in hawaiian shirts) not only sang well but did the wave. Peter Seagal great fun. Maestra stole the show, not once but twice...and ..she conducts! I hope that BSO considers taking this on the road.
Megan Balduf
The venue is gorgeous and it seemed like every seat was a good seat, but I'm only above average height and it was a tight fit to sit. My knees were up against the seat in front of me the whole time.
Issam Zeinoun
Tonight's performance was moving. Marlin Alsop brought it home with 3 moving show case pieces. My favorite was Rachmaninoff's piano rhapsody. Standing ovations were given for all the pieces performed, and for good reason.
Danny Michael
Beautiful venue and the BSO Pulse show was fantastic.
Si Kalderon
Superb one of highlights of city cant say how much pleasure we get .last Tuesday's send off concert Europe was example of quality Marian Alsop has given to our city and country consistently. SI and Sheilah Kalderon
Danielle A. Banks
My son Da'Mon's art work was featured in a program the Meyerhoff presented called Cirus of Animals. It was very nice children's program. It very nice inside the seats are a little comfortable. Easy to find of Route 83 Baltimore, off Maryland Avenue.
Ronny B
All I can say is one, I thank my Wife for taking me to see the sirque du soliel Nutcracker. It was the best Christmas present a husband could ask for. I had a great time and the music was the best. The proformers were the best.
David Hobby
Baltimore’s premiere music hall. Beautiful sound. After many years of attending wonderful performances, we have finally, belatedly, become supporting members.
Sophia Lejtman
I don't go for the classical concerts, I go for the fun Jewish concerts once a year or so. All the seats have a great view of the stage.
Brandon Hamilton
Beautiful auditorium, nice sound!
Rod Caine
The BSO performed the score from The Nightmare Before Christmas along with the movie as it played on the big screen. As always, the BSO played exquisitely. However, I missed the first 20 minutes of the performance because parking was very limited due to the Greek Festival occuring across the street. But that was certainly not the fault of the BSO. Normally, there is plenty of parking, with pre-paid parking available at two garages adjacent to the symphony hall. The BSO is one of my favorite places in Baltimore!
Kata Crea
One of the great symphony halls in the US. Baltimore offers one of the better orchestras I have seen. For a nice evening filled with music this is the place. There is also a youth program offered.
B.L. Williams
Nice venue the seats are a little tight but not uncomfortable if your tall go with an end seat...the line at the bar was long all of them they need to work on that most only had one bartender each waited 20min for a drink other than that the wait to enter the venue was short and the staff was professional and polite
agnes alignay
We were at the BSO for the pop series Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones . Watching the movie with the BSO doing the background makes you appreciate the work it takes to put together a movie sound!! Great !!
Linda D. Lee
BSO Concerts are a worthwhile experience for anyone.
Maestra Marin Alsop always makes fun and educational experience!
She has begun a great work with the ORCHkids. This is a program for Baltimore kids who need it most. It has mushroomed in to at least 3 youth Orchestra and multiple ensembles playing all genres of music, at all levels from the Bucket Band on up to a full orchestra, that if you closed your eyes, you'd think it was the Big Orchestra! These kids have had opportunities to work with Yo-yo Ma, Icsak Perlman, and others.
The BSO is my favorite orchestra even though I live in DC.
The Meyerhoff is easy to get to. From DC or any place else. You can use Amtrak or MARC, or fly into BWI. It's right on the Light Rail at Cultural Center Station.
The ticket prices vary, but are very reasonable. And no matter where you sit, you've got a good view of the Orchestra. And it's fully accessible!
Baltimore is perfectly safe. I've never had a problem. The people are overall very friendly, but many are very poor. Baltimore has, overall, a very good public transit system.
The Meyerhoff is just a few stops away from the Inner Harbor, National Aquarium, and many good places to stay overnight.
I highly recommend this venue, because it's not only a great experience, but you're helping the next generations of Baltimore kids who really need it.
Vijaya Subramanian
The music was great and the Meyerhoff auditorium is beautiful. The seating was comfortable but legroom is very limited in the terrace section.
Daniel Gaydos
Really love the sound and ambience of this concert hall. The view and sound is amazing from all seats. The holiday shows were amazing as always.
David Stark
We love the BSO, especially the Pops-type shows directed by Jack Everly. Tonight we saw "The Nat King Cole Songbook", with Denzel Sinclair's. Outstanding!
Matthew Campbell
My 10 year old son went on a class field trip today and wanted to leave a review. " It was so cool to listen to all the different kinds of music, live. I loved it!"
Reza Hosseini
It was Chaikovski symphony no.4 and it couldn't be better than that.
Joseph Meyerhoff symphony Hall is definitely one of the best places to visit in the Charm City.
Pamela Shaw
Even if it was the last event of the season or the organization, it was a five star event.
jason bienert
BSO PLAYS JOHN WILLIAMS STAR WARS. SOUNDTRACK !!!! ( A new hope for purists)
Return visit to the great BSO. We took in the BSO performing the John Williams score for the great Sci-fi epic Star Wars. Within the past few years we taken in a few movies with the BSO. I highly recommend this for those somewhat shy or new to the symphony world. These shows are an excellent way to lure children into the world of analog acoustic real time music!!!!
It's amazing to see an audience sit through the entire credits just to listen to the music.
Saddly though the orchestra DID NOT play the cantina song.... If anyone knows why let me know....
Irma Schechter
Wonderful Symphony Hall. Baltimore Symphony orchestra is the best I've seen. user friendly in that they play things for just about anybody's taste Marin Alsop is an extraordinary conductor
Joy S
Love the Baltimore symphony orchestra. It's a nice facility with parking nearby ($12) and great acoustics. Close to light rail and a nice walk from amtrak.
Darrell & Alison Hershberger
Breathtaking performance of Handel's Messiah. So incredible to attend a concert in 2021.
Curt Russell
The BSO 2013 Holiday show would have been a nice midwinter adventure, but any connection between the show and the reason for the holiday has been all but lost. The Cirque performances are interesting, but repetitive clapping for their performances throughout the musical pieces renders the music unenjoyable. This year's performance seemed particularly odd in terms of the coupling of stage performance and music. Does anyone else find it strange to be applauding a female contortionist on a high trapeze while listening to Silent Night as a backdrop? There were a few astounding Cirque performances, and a lot of body contortion acts which were repetitive and subsequently uninteresting. A not-so-funny MC hosted the program, and the music consisted of a strange mixture of mostly non-traditional selections for holiday performances including Beethoven's Fifth, Hansel and Gretel, and other eclectic pieces. The show left me wanting the old BSO Holiday shows back with great vocalists doing great traditional holiday music. I love the BSO, but not what this holiday show has become.
David Pittman
This is an attractive large auditorium. Schumann's "Konzertstuck" which features four horns sounded great. Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" might have been more impressive in a more intimate hall.
Marcus Dagan
An evening of pure brilliance and exquisite artistry Bravo to the entire orchestra
Hogarth Ferguson
I've seen two performances here, each one was spectacular. The staff does a good job, very little frustration if any. Perfect 5/7
Megan Brodie Maier
The BSO is always a joy to go see and the hall is beautiful and easily accessible. I especially appreciate the proximity to the light rail.
James O'Keefe
We love it. It's a fun "fancy" date. Wish their subscription packages started at 4 shows instead of 6, but we go to one off shows anyway
Adrian Flores
It was an amazing show! Really good atmosphere and all the ushers were super helpful!. Really great for a date night.
Brian
The BSO are dedicated and creative with traditional classical events along with programs that invite people outside of the symphony crowd to experience a wondrous and true expression of mankind's sheer expression of beauty.
Ogechukwu M Nwosu
It was nice and clean, however, it was a bit confusing for new comers.
Jo Raynor
Always a great place to go. Great concerts for children...helps introduce them to various musical pieces and instruments. Love the Pops series
Christopher Rowe
Very helpful and friendly staff to help you find your seat or working concessions.
Chris
Beautiful stage and concert hall. We enjoyed a great performance by the BSO and a dance troupe from LA performing the nutcracker.
Bahiyyah Jackson
Ellington and Gershwin was really good. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Elliot Glotfelty
This is a great venue and asset to Baltimore City. Everyone should go to a show! They offer a wide variety of shows throughout the year and it is affordable.
Bob Busillo
Staff treat their patrons with courtesy and respect. Easy parking access.
Sharon Burgoon
The BSO is outstanding
Today I attended a tribute to Aretha Franklin. The orchestra and singers were phenomenal
Hosea Chew
I love the BSO! This is a Baltimore treasure that has operated for more than 100 years.
Kirsten Spurrier
We went to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The symphony brings the movie to life. You find you heart beating faster and it makes you feel like you are there in the movie!
Mrs. J-B
If you've never been to the BSO or Meyerhoff you have to go at least once in your life. If your saying well im mot really a symphony type person, don't worry! Fall season at the BSO has "pulse" sessions where popular artist and music is brought together with learning experiences and sounds of the BSO orchestra. You will also find tickets at much lower prices for these concerts. Being in the heart of Baltimore the "pulse" is full of culture and will defiantly have something for everyone to enjoy. Check out their web cite for up coming events.
Margie Francioli
Christine bianco sang many diva imitations. Her voice is beautiful but what is her own. I saw her before and she did the same show. Bso needs new faces.
Darren Klinefelter
Amazing venue, with perfect sound quality. Easy to find tickets to a wide range of music. Great for date night!
Giacomo Mogliazzi
Beautiful concert hall. Parking is not validated which can cost you another $12 to park. But you can find street parking, if the concert that night is not full.
Dave Stark
So great to be back in the Meyerhof! Jack Every always puts on a good show.
E.C. Pollick Byrnes
Beautiful symohony hall. Well lit and accoustically, not a bad seat in the house. Concessions are expensive but it's what you expect at a concert hall.
George Lowy
I attended the the BSO performance of Mahler's Titan (Symphony No.1) last night at the Strathmore Music Center in Rockville, Maryland. This was the most incredible performance of this composition that I have heard in my 87 years on this planet. Marin Alsop had the orchestra under perfect control and her elegant, precise conducting was a pleasure to watch. Ms. Alsop was called back 4 times to a standing ovation - the public gave her the well deserved credit.
Bravo, Marin!
john webb
What a great experience, the music and conductor were right on the mark. CHEERS to the BSO
Erika
First time there and it was great. No parking as always.
Andrei B.

Jordan Stafford (Name PlaceHolder)
The performance was fantastic, the seating was great, and super comfortable, the hall itself looks fantastic and awe inspiring. The culture of the world is alive and well here.
Tiara J Clinton
Beautiful atmosphere. Attended a ballet with live orchestra. $10/11 performance parking in garage across from symphony hall.
Lynn Cronkright
We were there for a graduation. It was a real bottle neck at the door. That may not be the fault of the venue but it still knocks it down a notch in my opinion.
Bona L
This place is simply amazing. You will have an amazing experience no matter where you sit. Staffs are extra friendly and warm. Can't wait for next opportunity to return.
Mo Norton

Kim Asante
Please invite Imani Winds back to Batimore. The concert and the activities after the show were fantastic.
Jeffrey Myers
The Tchaikovsky was fantastic! Could have done without the silly Strauss piece. The BSO was, of course, superb on both.
Adam Dunaway
Amazing. My wife and I have seen a few of the Harry Potter movies here. It really is stunning. Highly recommend it!
Jayson Bennett
Comfortable seating. Soothing, talented, beautiful playing. Worth the terrible experience of Baltimore for the experience of the BSO.
Danielle Allen
When I'm here its a overtime detail. Traffic Enforcement Officer making sure the patriots are safe during there visit to enjoy the special events.
Michael Bann
The facility itself is nice. My issue is more with the other patrons who tend to be rude during concerts with their phones going off, flash photography and such.
Carl Schneider
Love the BSO at Meyerhof Symphony Hall
They did seem a bit rusty
K S
Love the symphony! What else is there to say? It's a shame more younger folks don't go. Music is beautiful.
Will C
Good, but they might want to play a little less Bernstein and movie music and rock backup and work on how they sound as a classical orchestra.
Kevin Wheeler
Awesome concert. Staff very excited to be back.
Josh Willits
Breathtaking performance of a reimagined Beethoven's 9th Symphony.
Tim Sexton
Went to the Baltimore Speaker Series at the BSO and attended a lecture given by Peter Diamandis, founder & chair of the XPRIZE Foundation. Quite fascinating.
