Flash forward to this year, I was moving out of town, and they were able to get me in last minute before I left due to a cancelation. I had been going to The Eye Studio for years, then through a series of unfortunate insurance limitations I had to go elsewhere for a while. I have continued to recommend many people, even while I wasn't a current patient. I am very happy to have insurance that allows me to return. I am happy to say that I received the same stellar treatment and service that I had become accustomed to in the past. The staff is excellent. The providers are very skilled and knowledgeable. Awesome experience!! Look no further 🤓, this is the place for you. Super efficient, welcoming, and gentle. This facility had all of the top of the line technology and even practiced excellent discipline in cleanliness and safety. I was able to get the eye photo instead of the get my eyes dilated. Dr. Susannah Lee was outstanding walking me through every step, answered all my weird and quirky questions. Super personable and gentle. She cared enough to provide me guidance on ways to keep the eyes of my family safe as well. I was a little concerned about parking, but plenty of street parking was available when I arrived. I’ve found my long term eye 👁 doc, give this spot a look 😎.

The best!! For the Covid-cautious—which should be all of us (yes, still)—everyone wore masks, there were air purifiers in the smaller exam rooms, and handwashing stations. Dr. Rosencrans was knowledgeable, thorough, and easy to talk to. They appeared to have a good selection of frames but I only had time for the exam so didn’t spend much time looking. Would recommend to all without hesitation!

I love this place. Andy has been my Optician stylist for over a year now and his passion for helping me choose the correct frames for my face shape and lifestyle has made me a loyal customer. I've bought several pairs from him (ok at least 6 and counting!) and he outdid himself with my latest pickups. I LOVE them! I have made the silly mistake of not seeing an optometrist in several years 🤪 I live in Alaska, but I was having a really hard time finding someone who takes VSP up here. I was already visiting a friend in Portland so I thought, might as well get my glasses done while I'm here! I'm so glad I went with The Eye Studio. Even before I stepped foot inside, I felt welcomed when I inquired about being a new patient over the phone. Everyone inside was very friendly as well! I saw Dr Tina and I had a great time. Which, I normally don't when I visit optometrists 😌🤌 They set me up with contacts and I was taught how to put them on and take them off. And they are shipping my new glasses to Alaska for me! I had such a great experience at my appointment today. When I called to make the appointment the receptionist was very helpful and polite. She was able to schedule me for the next day. When I arrived I was greeted by another very helpful and polite receptionist. They took my temp and made sure I wasn't a Covid risk then I was taken back to see the Dr right away! The exam was quick and thorough and everyone I encountered was very nice. They made picking out glasses very easy and were even helpful in suggesting eyeware. They were able to tell me exactly how much of the cost I would responsible for. Overall, one of the best optometry experiences I've encountered. I'll definitely be back for a second pair of glasses.

5 stars is an understatement. If Le Bon Marché was an optometry office this would be it. The aesthetic is clean, artistic and luxurious. The service surpasses any other clinic I have ever been. Dr. Tsai & Dr. Lee are thorough, friendly, and make a point to create a warm welcoming environment. Not only do they have all of the latest technology, all the staff members have been trained to a tee to answer all your questions. The entire staff is incredibly knowledgeable and you would be in excellent hands with anyone who helped you. They have the most beautiful frames and they really do work to fit your needs whether it's a fancy Tom Ford/Oliver People frame you have to have or you have a high prescription, they will make your glasses look beautiful.I have been coming here for years, this review is over due, huge shout out to the entire staff of Eye Studio 10/10!

The Eye Studio is a fantastic place to get an eye exam and learn about your prescription! I had never taken an eye exam before, but all of the staff were very professional and explained what each piece of equipment did. My eye doctor (Suzanne) did a wonderful job explaining my prescription and how I can help protect my eyes. This was really important to me, as I work on a computer all day long and want to protect my eyes as much as possible. If you live in Portland, don't think twice about visiting the Eye Studio!

The doctors and staff are so personable and helpful. They listen to your concerns and make sure you are getting what is right for you. Their selection of eyewear is great, ensuring you will find something that makes you feel confident and beautiful. And, if you dont find the right frame for you right away, inventory rotates frequently enough to provide something else down the road. Love the place and people.

My husband and I have been with The Eye Studio for the last 2 years and have seen both Dr. Tsai and Dr. Kim. We have had nothing but excellent and professional care from them and their office staff. They are thorough with their examinations and their recommendations for eye care have been very beneficial. My husband purchased a new pair of glasses last year (his first new pair in 10 years!) and he loves them. When I was having trouble with my astigmatism lens, they got me into the clinic quickly to help me fix the problem. Their office is located in the Pearl District and I love their space, modern and comfortable, just like their selection of frames. One piece of advice: definitely book your annual appointment in advance (perhaps 2 months) to get the time that works with your schedule, especially if you're not able to get time off as in my case.

Update 7/20/2020 for COVID Health & Safety: I felt extremely safe going to my annual eye appointment. Dr Tsai and her team took all possible precautions & safety measures. While at my appointment, the technician asked me the health questions from another room via speaker phone prior to the doctor coming in. Dr Tsai has invested in new technology that allows her to keep distance from you for most of the appointment so while she’s in the room with you, she can still perform the eye exam at a safe distance. If you’re looking for a new eye doctor, don’t hesitate. Especially now. Dr Tsai is the best and she and her team are doing all the right things to ensure health & safety during this time. Original review: I love Doctor Tsai. I’ve been seeing her for 12 years and have never once thought about going to see another eye doctor, even though I’ve lived in Vancouver for the past 5 years. She’s thorough, caring, efficient and friendly & her staff is always helpful as well. A bonus is that they don’t have to dilate my eyes because they have a machine that takes a photo instead. I so appreciate that Dr. Tsai offers the best of technology and gives the patient the choice.

Customer service experience far exceeded my expectations! I purchased my glasses there a few years ago. I have since relocated to Texas where the selection of eyewear is not as extensive. The problem was I ran over them with my wheelchair destroying part of the frame and the lenses. I worked with David long distance to get the glasses repaired, including shipping them from Germany. I just received them in the mail today and they are perfect! They were able to replace the lenses and the frame using my prescription with out me being there and the glasses fit perfectly. Kudos for a job well done.

I have been a customer at Golden Optical for many years. Today I went in search of a new provider of eye care and products. I wasn't happy with the customer service and care I was getting from my regular optometrist, so I decided to try the Eye Studio when it was time for my annual eye exam. The wait for an appointment was a few weeks out but they put me on their cancellation list and called me within a few days to say they had an opening the following week. I saw Dr. Kim who did a thorough exam, explained the purpose of each test she did, and was patient with my questions. Dr. Kim noticed some alarming irregularities with my vision and referred me to a specialist at another practice so that I could have a corneal exam done (The Eye Studio had the machine to do the exam however it wasn't working...it was unclear if this was due to a machine malfunction or the structure of my eye socket). She personally called the specialist and was able to get me an appointment for the next day. After getting the cornea exam my records were faxed back to Dr. Kim's office and she called me within 2 hours (it was her day off) to inform me that I had a progressive eye condition that would require treatment (potentially surgery). She responded to my follow up questions over the phone and via text throughout the next few days (even though she was out of the office), called my insurance company to see what procedures would be covered, and was quick to write me a referral to see another cornea specialist so I could get a second opinion. I've never received such amazing and attentive care from a medical practitioner and I highly recommend the Eye Studio.

My experience with the Eye Studio was as a walk-in tourist with a broken frame. Although I was not a customer, someone immediately stopped what they were doing, took 15 minutes to glue my frame so I could get through my Christmas weekend with my daughter and grandson. They could have easily refused to help me, since I am not a patient. If I lived in Portland I would be their customer. It may seem like a small thing, but my family had just experienced a tragedy and this small gesture brought me to tears.

I've been a client for about 1.5 years. Last week I had a follow up appointment; during that time they had some sort of scheduling conflict and it made my appointment about 30 minutes late. They were all very apologetic, including Dr. Tsai, but what really made a difference was when I checked out to leave they presented me with a Starbucks gift card. I originally chose The Eye Studio because they had great reviews and carried Tom Ford eyewear. They have the latest in technology and are genius at fitting glasses, but last week really sealed the deal for me. How many doctors ever apologize for being late and then (without stating before hand) do something to make up for the error?

Dr. Tsai has treated my eyes since October 2009, going on ten years. My initial reason was for something scary that happened to my vision. I was brand new to Portland and since she was right down the street, I chose to go to her. Since then, that scary problem has been resolved and I continue to go on a regular, twice-a-year basis. These appointments have become the highlight of my day. I love catching up with Dr. Tsai, Julie, David, and the rest of her team. They have become family. Regarding technology, it seems as if they have state of the art equipment that are able to capture what happens behind-the-scenes in the eye, while avoiding those old school air puff tests. Their frame selections are top-notch. I continue to get compliments on my new frames (are my google avatar) about once a week from random strangers. Thanks Dr. Tsai and the whole team for 9 years of quality healthcare and fun memories.

I am very particular about who I let work with concerning my vision. As a child I had "lazy eye." They used to send home pamphlets every year at school for all the kids, our teachers would talk about it. Apparently in the 70's Lazy Eye was a plague that swept through children on a frequent basis. What happened was there something in the water? I never hear about "Lazy Eye" anymore? The standard method of treatment involved gross stuff you don't want to hear about, but let us understand that I am very aware of things around my eyes and am a bit particular about who I see about them. Dr. Tsai is one of the best optometrists I've worked with. She set me up with glasses that made me look sexier, slimmer, and increased my business by 20%. (Approx) She was able to field my rather in depth questions, she was respectful of my concerns and made good recommendations after really listening to me. Her staff is always polite, professional and helpful. I take my children to her for yearly check ups and have been very happy with all the work I've had with her.
