I was excited to see that there's an independently owned optometrist in my neighborhood (that accepts most major insurance) and had a great experience from start to finish with Dr. Herring and his staff. I filled out an appointment request for an annual eye exam on their website and received a call back within about 20 minutes. I'm sorry I didn't get her name, but the woman who called me was so sweet and professional. I had a great exam with no wait time after I arrived. Dr. Herring is excellent and also very friendly. My appointment was quick but I wasn't rushed at all. Another awesome staff member helped me select gorgeous sunglasses and discussed with me the best options on how to apply my insurance coverage to the at least the frames, as I was getting contacts instead of prescription lenses. I also needed to reschedule a follow up contact lens course for first-time users somewhat last-minute due to work, and the woman I spoke to was, again, so sweet and accommodating (and, again, I regret not getting any names). I highly recommend Nostalgic Eye Care. Top notch service, care, selection of the very latest designer styles, gorgeous and immaculately clean office, the very best staff and it's great that I don't need to go to a chain.

My friend recommended Nostalgic Eye Care for my young daughter as she uses them for her two young sons. I'm so glad she did! We had such a welcoming experience at literally every level from intake, receptionists, assistants, doctors, and then finally for purchasing the glasses. When we returned the staff remembered us and remembered details we had told them when we were in before. They were kind and accommodating to my very busy 7 year old. Start to finish it was an excellent visit and I can't recommend them enough.

I just had my first appointment and will be a patient/customer for life. The whole staff was knowledgeable, friendly and kind, especially Dr. Herring. They squeezed me in for a same day appointment and took the time to make sure I picked a pair of glasses I really loved and even gave me a trial with contacts for the first time while looking for them. The whole vibe of the office is relaxed and comfortable, unlike many traditional stuffy doctor’s offices. Such a wonderful small business to support!

Dr. Herring is a complete expert. He’s a very elaborate thinker. I recently called Dr. Herring and told him I was seeing flashing lights in my eye. He instructed me to go Wills Eye Emergency Room right away. After being examined I was told that I had a torn retina, that was almost detached. I received laser surgery within hours of visiting the ER. I cannot thank Dr. Herring enough. His wisdom and expertise saved my vision. I CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH DR. HERRING!!!!!! If your looking for Excellent and exceptional eye care this is where you need to be. I'm not one for going to the eye doctors regularly but everytime I come here I always leave with a smile. The ladies are easy to talk to and very invested in your care. But in addition to that the doctor is very approachable and helps you to understand the care of your eyes. I look forward to my eye appointments now because of the experience I have everytime I come. I only came today because my glasses screw came out and I left smiling.

Doctor provided good service. Staff was pleasant. Biggest gripe was their lack of communication or explanation about insurance and recommended treatment. They advised us our insurance was accepted, but did not advise us that the services the doctor recommended were not covered by our insurance. Billed us for more than $600 which would have been covered if we went to an ophthalmologist instead of Nostalgic. That and other service issues drove us away from a doctor we actually liked at first.

I had my first eye exam and new eyeglasses in almost a decade at Nostalgic Eye Care. I live in Mt. Airy and was happy to find a locally-owned optometry office. Dr. Herring is personable, thorough, and knowledgeable. The office is brand new, fully equipped with the latest technology, and very comfortable. I did have trouble adjusting to my new prescription, but I was able to work on a plan and find a solution together with the staff after coming back into the office (thank you, Esther!). I just picked up my modified glasses today and am no longer having issues! Early on, I did have one less than pleasant phone conversation with a staff member (they seemed annoyed with the fact that I was calling about having trouble with my glasses), but the next time I was in the office, I overheard a senior staff person coaching a junior staff person on listening to and having empathy for patients that call with problems. I'm not sure if it was the same person, but I took it as a sign that Dr. Herring and the people who run his office are proactive about nurturing a positive culture among the staff and that they value their patients/customers.

Nostalgic Eye Care! Where do I start? The establishment is beautiful; something about the location when you’re in there on a sunny day & the sun just shines in so gracefully lol. Their customer service is amazing! I don’t remember her name, but there was a lovely woman who helped me pick & choose my glasses, she gave me suggestions and really made me feel great about my choice, which I absolutely LOVE! I wish I'd gotten the name of the Dr who helped me, but she obviously works for Dr. Kennard L. Herring. Anyway, this young doctor went out of her way in a situation that I freely admit was a "not my circus, not my monkeys" issue. I'd gotten glasses elsewhere and they'd been so poorly adjusted there, I couldn't see out of them. The Dr at Nostalgic asked me questions about my vision, my prescription and my experiences up to that point. After she adjusted the spectacles, I could see perfectly. It may seem like a small thing, but you don't know how important good adjustments on glasses are until you've had bad ones. She fixed it. Thank you!

We were in the market for a new optometrist after our insurance changed, and had read several positive reviews of Nostalgic Eye Care online. My wife went to see Dr. Herring first and had a great experience, and then I took my 14 y/o daughter to get new glasses. The front desk staff was very friendly which is a huge plus (I have left other providers due to unfriendly front desk staff). Dr. Herring had a great bedside manner. He spent his time trying to get to know my daughter and really connected with her, which can be hard with teenagers! Dr Herring, Stephanie and Victoria are the best in the biz. I’ve had vision problems since my teenage years and have sat in many optometrists offices. Always dreading the appointment, the interactions, and especially the search for the (almost) perfect pair of glasses. My daughter just had an eye exam here. I can not say enough how pleased I am with the service. The store area is clean and aesthetically pleasing. Dr. Herring, worked so well with my daughter, he used 2 different methods to perform her exam to ensure that he received accurate readings. He was sure to answer any questions and address the concerns I had. The exam room and equipment was was modern and up to date. The receptionist/ assistant was very courteous, she answered all my insurance questions and took care to confirm other information for me as well. She was very friendly with my daughter during the eye wear selection process. Overall I am so happy with the service the staff are professional and friendly. Victoria and Dr Herring exceeded all expectations for professionalism, personal attention, customer service, and general all-round pleasantness. The exam itself was easy and thorough, and in no way intimidating. Dr Herring was exceptional in making me feel comfortable and relaxed—when administering eye drops, I don’t recall flinching or otherwise succumbing to instinctive and reflexive resistance. This is literally the best place ever! The patient representatives and Doctor is so nice and professional. They help you pick the right glasses for you. They are very kind and their is never any wait time. You fill paper work out they take you right back to start your visit and then if getting glasses they will assist. The turn around time for glass pick up I was always about to get them in a week.

My family had an excellent experience at Nostalgic Eye Care yesterday. The staff were warm and welcoming from the moment we stepped through the door. My kids had never had eye exams before, and Dr. Herring and Ms. Victoria immediately put them at ease, kept them calm and relaxed (even while getting dilation drops!), made them laugh, and patiently answered about a hundred questions. My daughter tried on every pair of kids' glasses in the store, but Ms. India patiently kept trying until my daughter found a pair she liked. I have been driving quite a distance for my own eye care, but I will be switching to Dr. Herring for my next appointment. I would highly recommend this practice.

He not only gave an awesome exam, he also helped me pick out beautiful frames which I get a lot of compliments on till this very day. Dr. Herring is an excellent Optometrist. I've been a patient for over a year and followed him to this new location. I called and got an appointment right away, my exam was thorough and all of my questions and concerns were addresses. There is a great selection of glasses to choose from at reasonable pricesand he and his staff have no issue helping you choose one. My glasses came in less than a week and they fit perfectly. The location is great, warm and friendly environment and super clean facility.

First of all, Brittany, the receptionist was amazing. She is very professional, thoughtful, and gave me awesome service. She was very professional. This was my first visit with Dr. Herring. I must say he is extremely professional. He walked me through every step of the examination. I was negligent in being committed to my yearly eye exams. He understood and looked passed my negligence and made me feel comfortable that I made the right decision at the right time. After my eye exam he took me to see his awesome collection of frames. The care he took and the patience he had with choosing the right frame for me was stupendous. I really appreciate the customer care. In August I began to search for a new eye doctor. I had an idea of what I wanted out of my experience, and a part of that was a desire to support a locally owned practice. Through searching my provider portal, I came across Dr. Kennard Herring. When I came into his office I was immediately impressed with the aesthetics, welcome, and atmosphere. My appointment was refreshing, as he didn’t attempt to pacify my understanding of my eye condition simply because i am not a doctor, he listened, inquired, and made an effort to understand my lifestyle as it pertains to my eye care. After a thorough exam, I met with a woman who assisted me in picking out my frames. She was patient, helpful, made meaningful suggestions and comments, and was hilarious. Dr. Herring then came out and joined the fun, while making suggestions, and giving meaningful input. At 7pm we finally settled on a pair of glasses. Even though it was closing time, the staff was still patient with me as we settled the ordering formalities. I say allllll this to say, if you need an eye doctor definitely check out Nostalgic Eye in Germantown! You will not be disappointed!!!

The only reason I cannot give 5 stars is because I provided them with a pair of glasses that I wanted to add prescribed lenses to. When I received my glasses back they did not provide me with my original lenses. This does not allow for me to possibly resell these glasses in the future. They said they threw them out and it is not their policy to provide them. I’m hoping to change this policy because any materials that are purchased by a customer should be returned.

the appointment was ok. i wouldve appreciated more communication from the doctor during it. i found i had to ask more questions than what i was given. also this was during covid while we were in red phase and the doctor didnt wear a mask or gloves. and touched my face and eyes to apply drops. which is definitely not safe during this time especially. i was supposed to pickup an order and realized i hadnt been called yet so i called and left and message and no one got back to me. the order was supposed to be here a week ago and its been a week and 2 days (i messed up and thought it had been longer.) so i called again since i didnt receive a callback and i felt like i had to defend myself because the front desk woman didnt do a great job of explaining and was kind of snarky off the bat so i got even more defensive. then she put it on me and said i called upset. well yeah. sometimes you deal with that in customer service. idk i wont be going back there
