Everyone is consistently wonderful at this place! Every time I come in, I feel very informed and well taken care of. The ladies at the front desk are so helpful and the office seems to stay on time with seeing patients. Tammy, the wonderfully sweet lady that works in the glasses area is fantastic. Really, both of those ladies are wonderful! They will help you find the cutest glasses for your face and they have so many options! Tammy also helped me make the most out of what my insurance would cover and left me with no surprises when it came to paying for everything. When I went to pick them up, she even let me know how adjusting to them would feel. I greatly appreciate her. I have a very high prescription and finding glasses that worked for me had been very difficult, until I found Dr Choate’s office. Dr Choate is fantastic, knowledgeable, and takes time to listen to the concerns of his patient. It is evident that he and his team really care about their patients. I have had to go the eye doctor for over 20 years and Dr Choate and his team are by far the best. He helped me find the correct prescription and contacts that were comfortable as well as helped me find a solution for the headaches, neck pain, and motion sickness that I had been getting. He prescribed me some special glasses that would help my eyes focus better and my motion sickness, headaches, and neck stiffness have completely resolved. I didn’t even know that my fatigued eyes could cause me to feel that way! I 100% recommend him and his office to anyone that needs a new eye doctor.

Dr Walter Choate in my opinion is one of the top ODs in the country. He stays on top of all the latest advancement in the eye care field and has one of the most advanced primary eye care centers in the country. What really sets Dr Choate apart from 99% of the optometrists and ophthalmologist in this country is his knowledge and utilization of proper nutrition! He understands the difference between good and bad supplements and how proper supplementation and dietary changes can really help with numerous eye diseases including glaucoma, dry eye and macular degeneration. He offers the best of both worlds when it comes to eye-care. He is offering the future of eye care today. He offers a variety of natural options often times alone or combined with traditional medical eye care. This is called complementary eye care and is surely the wave of the future. This is one of the things that sets him apart from all other eye care providers in the area. Dr Choate has the same philosophy of eye care as I do and feels God made a pretty good body and it will perform optimally if only given the right fuel. I am very pleased with Dr. Choate and staff. My husband was referred there about six years ago. While there for a follow up appointment to check his glasses, Dr, Choate noticed an issue and recommended emergency surgery. My husband was set up with a referral to a surgeon and had surgery scheduled for the very next day. In the medical field, that’s nearly unheard of. I am now a patient several years later. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Leah and Tammy were pleasant and patient as I completed the various tests and chose my frames. Dr. Choate was in and out of the room several times during my visit and spoke very kindly. He explained what he was seeing and showed me scan results and explained how what he was seeing on the screen, related to what I see and how to best correct it. Tammy was so helpful picking out frames according to what my insurance covered - no high pressure sales tactics even though I ended up choosing the more expensive pair. I’ve always gone to VisionWorks for my eye exams - no more. Even the other customers were friendly and engaging which says A LOT about the atmosphere of the practice there. I’ve been going there for follow up appointments for contact lens fitting and Dr. Choate has worked with me to get the best lenses to fit my needs. Debbie, Becky and the other staff members are always so kind. I hate going to doctors of any sort but I enjoy going here. I feel valued as an individual customer not just another number on their chart. I wish all medical facilities gave off such fabulous and welcoming vibes. I’m a travel nurse and had a contract in Tennessee a few months ago and was due for an eye exam. I found and went here on a whine and I’m so glad I did! The staff are all so friendly and Dr. Choate was AMAZING. When I see my eye doctor back home, I get maybe 10 minutes with him. Dr. Choate spent as much time with me as it took to make sure I got the right set of contacts, even going back and forth to get samples instead of asking his staff to do it (and he went back several times). He even spent a good amount of time addressing all other concerns I’ve had with my eyes. I truly felt like he really wanted to help me as much as he could. He was so patient, and I never for a second felt like he was rushing and trying to get me out of there like sometimes doctors can do. Can’t say enough good things about him, I just wish I was living in Tennesee so I could see him for every check up!

I was put in Dr. Choate's care by my former opthalmologist that opted to just do surgery. I have been under Dr. Choate's care for several years. He is very thorough and professional. The staff is pleasant and efficient. The office is clean and beautiful. I am an 88 year old artist and writer, so my eyes are very important to me. I had cataract surgery and my vision is now better. Dr. Choate has followed up after surgery All went well. I have not had any pain. I will soon have new glasses to see even better.

Dr Choate and his staff are great. I always know I received the best care for my eyes. Each year as he expands and upgrades the equipment I know that I will receive the most state of the art care. I don't worry if he is behind the times on new and upcoming treatments procedures. I love that even though I only go for an annual exam if I need anything or have any questions before my exam is due they are always available and very eager to help. All of my family goes here and while some think the prices are to high I find that I pay for better quality. The glasses they have received elsewhere have to be replaced or fixed repeatedly. Anything I purchase I know that it will be top notch and if for some unknown reason this is a mistake it will be fixed properly and quickly. The office staff is amazing. Deborah recognizes me as soon as I walk in the door and I feel at home. This is one of the few doctors that I see that know the personal me and not just the chart and my eyes. They are able to ask about work and family and I know it is sincere. So a great big 2 thumbs up for Choate Eye Associates you are great!!

For anyone who hasn't made the decision to have cataract surgery, do not delay. I put it off as long as I could because I was simply scared to death thinking about having surgery on my eyes. Dr.Choate recommended Dr. Aaron Porter with Cool Springs Surgical Associates to do my surgery and it went without any complications. I saw him in the office at Choate Eye Associates for my initial consultation which was very convenient for me. My surgery was scheduled for the Franklin Surgery Center in Franklin but I had change to the Northridge Surgery Center in Madison due to issues of convenience on my part. Zack, Dr. Porter's surgical coordinator, was so helpful in taking care of this for me and I could not have asked for a nicer person to deal with this issue. Dr. Choate kept telling me that I wouldn't believe the difference it would make in my life once I had the surgery and he was so right. Yesterday I drove my car for the first time in my life without my glasses...simply amazing!!!!!! It has been less than a week since I had surgery on my left eye and I am so looking forward to having my right eye surgery in a few weeks. Sooner if possible. Dr. Choate and his staff have been so wonderful and patient with me throughout this whole process. If you want a good eye care professional to take care of your eyes, then Choate Eye Associates is where you want to be.

The office staff was very friendly when I got there. The technicians were friendly and helpful in explaining what we were doing. They have a lot of advanced technology that even I had never seen and I’ve been to Vanderbilt and many different eye doctors in the past. Dr. Choate was very professional and wanted to get all of my medical records and see me back in a month. Overall I would definitely go back to see him again. And tell everyone I know to go as well..... let’s see what my bill ends up being. I went back to pick up my frames and get them fitted. It was quick easy and they did an awesome job fitting my new frames to my non proportional ears. There is a fine balance with anything dealing with the transactional world and when it comes to your health this balance is essential. I'm speaking of the balance of time vs quality of service. In a restaurant you want prompt service but if your food comes out too quickly, perhaps the quality suffers. In the case of Choate Eye associates they have discovered that true balance, proficient, professional, and they are sensitive to the the fact that you have very little margin in your busy day. The word that comes to mind is bespoke. The staff tailor to your needs (frame shopping and fitting, comfort, explaining what this machine does and why...etc) all while doing the things necessary to give you the proper diagnosis on two of the most important items a person can have....your eyes! Dr Choate is to the eye world what Michael Jordan was to basketball. He knows his stuff, not to mention I have never seen more clearly and with less strain than during my 20+ years of wearing glasses. My headaches are virtually gone. ( I say virtually due to the fact I still have children). I'll eat superb food and tolerate less than average service, I'll even eat average food with outstanding service, with Choate Eye and Associates the food is 5 star and Dr Choate and his staff can dunk it jumping from the foul line! Highly recommend!

Everyone was wearing a face covering. There was a variety of eyewear to choose from. The only downside is that the pricing was on the high side - quality care though.

Initial prescription for reading/computer glasses was too narrow of view for proper dual screen computer or reading. This was quickly rechecked and the new prescription and glasses at no extra cost were an excellent correction and I was pleased with the final results.

Dr. Choate's office is great! The entire staff was friendly and listened to my concerns about my dry eye syndrome. Dr. Choate took his time with me and helped put together a treatment plan that relieved my symptoms. This practice definitely deserves 5 stars!

I had my first eye exam last week with Dr. Choate. I am a 21 year old college student, and I was nervous! The exam was very thorough and easy. Best part was no puff of air! I see 20/20 but am having glare while driving at night, and Dr. Choate was able to test for that and explain the reason why to me. He also had a cool instrument to measure where my eyes focus while doing intense studying at school. I’m set now and ready to head back to school for the spring semester. I would recommend Choate Eye Associates to anyone.

Amazing office!! From the very start a wonderful experience. When I called to make my appointment, the front desk associate, forgive me I cannot remember her name, was very cheerful and helpful in offering a few different time slots for my schedule. I was able to download paperwork from the website and do it at home, before my appointment also. First impression of the office walking in...WOW. It is beautiful and very clean. The ladies up front were very sweet and friendly. All of the ladies there are wonderful and can I say friendly again because they were. Everyone has a wonderful personality and made me feel so welcome! They are quite a bit of equipment, however, the young lady starting my exam explained everything to me make me feel very comfortable. Oh and major plus...they do NOT puff air in the eyes, gosh I hate that test. I saw both Drs. actually, Dr. Van Dell began my full exam and she was lovely. I have never had a more in-depth exam, they truly care about the health of your eyes and educating. So kind and answered all my questions without making me feel like a bother. Dr. Choate took the time to come in and introduce himself and wanted to make sure I was being taken care of ( in a joking manner) He was very nice and I thought it showed his love of people and his profession to do that. Now for the glasses, holy cow, they have an amazing selection. So many frames, but the ladies that work in that section made it so easy. They were so honest letting me know which frame size looks the best and they didn't pressure me at all. Over all I loved it here and will definitely be back!!! If you want the best experience come here, from beginning to end simply amazing.

This is for all the people who are on the fence about cataract surgery. There is nothing to it. I myself was apprehensive I mean lets be serious you have a sharp instrument that close to your eye. Dr. Porter comes to Dr. Choate's office for your consultation and exam, which does cost but that is expected. They set up the procedure which is handled at Northridge surgery center in the Rivergate area making the entire process very appealing if you live in the area. 2 days later I was back at work and looking forward to getting the other eye corrected. Both eyes are now done and although I do not see the really fine print, I can at least read the labels now without glasses, not to mention that I can write this review glasses free. Now as for the surgery itself it was quick and painless. I was wheeled into the operating room and woke up in another room wondering how in the world did I get here. I kept thinking that nothing was done but it was so quick and peaceful that it just seemed that way. So like I said if you are on the fence just swing your other leg across and jump over and start enjoying being able to see again. It is not an overnight thing you still have to bring everything back into focus and with only one eye at a time being done it can get a little nuts, but after everything is completed the improvements are great. So if you have been told you need corrective surgery make the move before it is to late to do anything.

The website needs updated as the office times are incorrect. Yesterday, I needed to be seen first thing to repair my frames. I noted they opened at 7 am. Drove in the horrific Vietnam Vets traffic to get there first thing so I would not be too late for school. When I got to the office at 7:20 am I found it to be CLOSED. I called the number listed on the web since the office times are not on their door. Office times were not given via voice messaging but instead I was instructed to view the website for more information. PLEASE update the website so others don't have the frustration I encountered yesterday.
