I recently broke my glasses and was in dire need for a new pair. I was a little nervous because I had never been to this business before, but let’s just say this was one of the best decisions ever! The associates at this location provided stellar, top-notch customer service. Adam assisted me with questions I had about the glasses and was so very kind and sweet! Dr. Manaffy’s professionalism exudes care, patience, and warmth! Lastly, Brooke went above and beyond to ensure all of my eye care needs were met prior to leaving! If you need eye glasses or contacts, don’t hesitate to visit this place. They really know what “Real” customer service looks like!

Not bad but you get what you pay for. Same day glasses is not true at all. That's if you don't need medicine for the glasses. I was told it takes up to 7 business days, and that's not true either . More like 2 weeks SMH. After the 7 day I called and they extended it for another 7 days according to the date they gave me for ready day. SMH you get what you pay for. They would do better with service if people didn't have to pay until pick up. Then they won't get paid unless the work is done first. And it wouldn't never take 2 weeks. All Im saying is when you put money in the sellers hand then they pretty much got what they going to get from you. There no rush more like I'll call you when they get in bye.

I was in the store asking questions about a week and a half ago. I don't go just anywhere, they are how I see after all, anyway, on the phone a young lady, Not really sure of her name, Corey? It began with a C, was very curt with someone on the phone. Not impressed, however, as I watched, young lady with black hair, super short, was working, I am not sure where in store she worked, helping a customer, was very polite, helpful, not in a hurry, service you'd expect with glasses. I thanked all tried to offer service I left it with let me speak to my husband. I'd get back. As we discussed it. I explained about lady very rude on the phone. As long as we do not have to be having any contact with her. We will be back. My brother in law has had surgery on his eyes. He's asking his Dr, but possibly 24 new customers. Again, the young lady on the phone. I'd prefer to think brought her problems to work, which is bad enough, not her everyday personality... from another customer a dear friend also complained about Ms shivey.. I reported back. I didn't see her anymore. If you need glssses.. I'd recommend this store. Just back off of young lady name is Corey. Very professional ppl. Happy to help. 3 stars bx of corey.

First trip I had no issues, it was pleasant, in and out and everything was fine. Second trip, booked online (super easy), called to confirm my insurance would be accepted and was told I was good to go. Showed up for the appointment early to do paperwork and browse, immediately told my insurance wasn’t accepted. Really disappointed, I liked this place.

I love Geneva, she is the one that helped me today, the store got really busy but she was so calm and professional and managed everything so well. I had the best experience I've ever had at the eye doctor yesterday getting contacts for the first time! The Dr. was so encouraging and Geneva sat down with me one on one to help me learn how to put them in. I left feeling overjoyed and am still so happy!! Even though they were overbooked (that's what happens when the store doesn't control their own booking!), the employees were payient, kind,, and attentive.Thank you for such a positive experience! Come in on a Sunday for an eye exam, looking into the possibility of getting contacts for the first time. Everyone there was very helpful, professional. Also set up a class for when the contact’s come in to make sure we know how to properly use them. 10/10 recommended!! Thanks!!

Service is bad. Location and Customer service are never on the same accord. Customer service will always says one thing, and when you arrive to the location, they say different. Second time trying to get a vision exam, and when arriving and letting them know I had spoken with customer service on the phone, location stated I was past time frame. Online doesn’t give you the option to speak with someone at the location. (Harbison location Columbia, SC)

I just started going to Stanton optical for my eye appointments and I am so thrilled with their service! I have a busy schedule but they are always so welcoming and accept walk in appointments. My most recent appointment I had walked in and had my eye exam done within 30 minutes and picked out 2 pairs of glasses as well. I got my prescription within a couple days! When I picked up, Madison had assisted me with fitting my glasses and making sure I was satisfied. I recommend this place to all of my friends!

I booked an appt. online, and there were many slots available, which was great. I received a phone call to confirm the day before, along with a text message. I let the young lady know I needed to be out in one hour as I had to be in Columbia for appt. I arrived 10 minutes early to select frames, and then was able to see the Dr. Mahaffey right on time. He was quick but thorough and did an excellent job explaining what he observed about my eye health. I got my prescription and met with Ashley to measure and complete my order for two pairs of glasses. Everyone there was efficient, helpful, friendly and knew what he/she/they were doing. I was given all my paperwork and I learned how to check the status of my order online, which I did this morning. I even got the little nose piece on my "old" glasses replaced, which was very nice as they were awful. No charge. I was out of there in 50 minutes, which was perfect and made for a leisurely drive into Columbia. I feel I got an excellent value with the glasses as I chose what I liked and put all the "extras" on the glasses as I wear them every day, all day, so comfort and satisfaction matter a lot to me. My only "downer" which isn't Stanton's fault, is they are not a preferred provider with my State Vision Care Plan. I will probably cancel that plan if nothing is covered with my provider of choice. I have always used the Harbison store for glasses and have always had a great experience.

I came to Stanton to get new glasses and what I was met with exceeded my expectations. The employees were very helpful and followed strict covid guidelines. I was seen at my appointment time and the process was easy and very timely. One employee Robert C.was beyond helpful in selecting my new glasses. He expertly helped me understand what my insurance would cover and the differences in prices if I used their 2 for $59.99 advertised sale. In addition he was able to help me replace some old frames with new ones and fixed an old nose guard on another pair. I greatly appreciate his kindness and knowledge to help obtain the best new glasses as well as help me with my old ones. I strongly suggest Stanton optical for a quick, painless and satisfying marketplace for all your optical needs.

I was a walk in on a Saturday and although their schedule was full, they were able to make time for a quick appointment. Exam took about 10-15 minutes and the doctor was excellent! Because I had a contact exam done, the woman who helped me offered one pair of glasses at 50% off, two years of free eye exams (I don't have insurance), and a free pair of non-prescription sunglasses - seemed like a great deal to take advantage of and I was able to get the glasses in 20 minutes. The contacts did take 2-5 days to arrive but I was also able to leave with a trial pair in the meantime. They do price match contacts which made a HUGE difference to me personally. I also purchased their "frame club." Great deal, it gave me and my family or friends four completely FREE frames over the next two years. For a family where everyone is wearing glasses - this seemed like a must have! Reading these other reviews from six months ago, I would assume there has been some staff turnover? Maybe some new management as well. I didn't feel pressured into buying anything I didn't need or want. I believe this staff really knows their stuff! My experience was excellent and effortless; I will be sure to recommend this place in the future.

I was able to get a same day appointment for an exam and they didn't have my exam strength for contacts but gave me 5 days worth of comparable contacts to survive till my order comes in. An eye exam and two pairs of glasses for $59.99? I was very skeptical, but everything went like clockwork. The people working there were as nice as could be. I'm giving a 4 because I haven't yet received my glasses. (Not because of lack in customer service. But my eye sight sucks. So I have to wait for mine to come in.. NOT a big deal. It's like that most places) Anywho... I made an appointment earlier yesterday (02/13/2020) couldn't make it. So I rescheduled. They were able to get me in that same day! Sweet!!! Went in and the staff was super with greeting me and guiding me to where I needed to go.. Got the exam done and went to look at glasses. Myself and my daughters received eye exams here. The technician was super pleasant and even took the time to explain to my daughters what each test did. The doctor was also extremely friendly and was patient enough to explain things in child friendly terms. She was efficient, yet we didn't feel worried at all. I have zero negative things to say about this practice. Every person we interacted with was respectful and kind. I highly recommend this facility for the entire family.

So I went in today just helping my mother pick out a pair of glasses. I’ve been in contacts for a very long time and just had some questions while I was there. My vision is terrible so my lenses are very thick, I wanted to check and see what type of frame was suggested. So after Christina was done helping my mother, she answered my questions, I had a couple pairs I had looked at just to get an idea of what I wanted so she helped me decide on what was best. Now keep in mind I was not there to purchase glasses today. But she was so helpful, gave me and estimate of my cost and I was thrown back! I was expecting to have to pay around $3-400.00! Nope! With everything I was gonna pay $140! It was cheaper to take their in store promotion instead of using my insurance! So in 7-10 days I’ll have a new pair of glasses! It’s been about 10 years maybe longer since I’ve gotten a pair. I’m excited! Highly recommend Christina she was very patient, kind, and helpful and most of all she was honest. I loved that she was honest with my mother on which frames looked best on her she patiently waited while my mother tried on 100 pairs of glasses. She spent a lot of time making sure the perfect pair looked good on my mom and also since my mother had a bad experience somewhere else she just doubled checked with the eye doctor to make sure everything was perfect for my mom. We definitely will go back!

The care, patience and attention to detail I received from Dr. McTague hands down makes this location my preferred place for eye care (and that’s with an hour drive). One of the little comforts in life is finding a care or service provider you know you can trust, whether it’s for your car, your hair, or, in this case, your vision and eye health. I was nervous to go to this location because of some of the reviews on here. However they must have changed staff because my experience today was nothing but AMAZING. All members of the staff I came in contact with were wonderfully polite and friendly. I felt comfortable within seconds. No one tried to charge me extra money, but they made sure to educate me on their offers. It was honestly the best eye exam I've ever had as well AND they gave me a free trial pair which is hard to come by these days. I will highly recommend this location to anyone.

On 8/12/2020 I walked into the Stanton Optical store at 189 Harbison in Columbia, SC because I was having significant issues with the glasses I purchased at another Stanton Optical store in Lubbock, TX in December 2019. The entire team at the Columbia store tackled my issues immediately, effortlessly and professionally. They made me feel welcome and periodically checked up on me. The female that began working on my glasses even told me to bring in the 2nd pair of glasses I purchased in Lubbock so they could check those as well. The Columbia store corrected ALL the issues and boy was I happy. So at the least I got to give a HUGE shout out to that entire team that worked on that day. I guess it took the Columbia SC store to show the store in Lubbock, TX how its really done! Guys thank you once again. Nick P.

The doctor was professional and their selection of glasses is very large. However, the customer service is ridiculous. I called to check on my glasses 10 days after ordering them. Was placed on hold for nearly an hour (combined because I gave up and called back). When I got through I'm pretty sure it was an outsourced phone service that gave no apology for my long wait time. Turns out my glasses were ready for pick up and no one called to notify me.

Upon coming in, I was immediately greeted and welcomed by the optometrist. The wait time and exam was carried out in a timely manner. To elaborate on my experience, I came in 15 minutes early and the entire visit took no longer than 30-45 minutes which included the eye exam and purchasing contacts. I cannot express enough how amazed I was by the service. Dr. Matague showed genuine care for the health and wellness of my eyes and was very professional and patient with my visit. After completing my eye exam, I was helped by Christine Perry when purchasing my contacts. She helped explain clearly what services were provided and the best plan in regards to finances. Definitely recommend this place if you do not have an optometrist. I am away at college right now and was weary at first but actually had a satisfying experience from a patient/customer perspective. My daughter just got glasses for the first time at age 6, and I had not had glasses for 20 years. Both of us going into the store with not knowing what to expect and with some nervousness. We where warmly welcomed and help through the process by Deja. She made the experience go very smoothly, and we had a great experience, because of her knowledge, friendliness, and patience with kids, and me trying 50 frames... lol. The deals were great, and the selection is amazing! A+ to this store! Would recommend for a individuals, kids, and families. And to everyone that had an issue with final price. Just ask ahead of time like I did. They will give you an almost spot on estimate if you tell them the frame price you are looking at purchasing.

The best optometry and eyeglass retail experience I’ve ever had. I had an appointment on a Sunday afternoon, and upon arrival I waited less than 15 minutes (despite the store being slightly busy) to be seen by the optometrist. The entire eye exam took no more than 30 minutes with no dilation, and I was fitted with a free trial pair of contact lenses. I did not have to fill out a clipboard full of paperwork for insurance and medical history as is common at most providers, and there were no issues in approving the insurance (I use Community Eyecare). I decided to buy a pair of glasses too, and was happy to find out that they were half off! The assistant also ordered me an additional pair of trial lenses free of charge to go along with my year of contacts since I was wearing my only pair. My glasses were ready for pickup the next day. I saved a tremendous amount of time and money here, and overall had a wonderful experience. I highly recommend!

Update to review: added a star; Stanton Optical left me a voicemail offering to order me new frames after seeing I was dissatisfied. While I don't need more glasses and can work with the current pairs, i'm happy they tried to rectify the situation. The staff was very polite upon me entering and helpful. The store was clean and well kept. I found the glasses I wanted easily and was helped immediately. My glasses (2 pairs) were ready in under an hour. The reason I'm giving the store 3 stars though is bc the glasses I got were the store's shoddy old display ones. As if they had none of the frames in stock. There was gross sticky resin on the sides from where the price stickers were pulled off. The temples were wobbly and when closed, were uneven . Since the display ones had been handled by a million people, they both were loose and feel like they're on the last limb. The nose pads feel like they're about to come off as well. Obviously when I tried on the displays I did not think I'd get that very pair and was just paying attention to the style. The employee helping had to keep trying to fix both pairs as they kept falling off my face, moving side to side, drooping, and not fully closing along with screws that wouldn't tighten. Very, very flimsy feeling. I'm disappointed that I paid so much for such a letdown but I didn't know any better at the point of purchase.

Great atmosphere. Very professional service. I've had a headache for a week or so and wanted to see if it was related to my new job roll looking at tiny letters on a computer screen all day. The dr was polite and well informed and assisted with getting the perscription I needed, but that was only about 20% of the experience. The latter 80% of the reason I gave this rating is one of people who assist with picking and paying for your frames Tisha. I did not have vision insurance so the cost of my frames and lenses were overwhelming and she worked with me without me even asking to get frames I wanted at a price I could afford. I would literally refer anyone in Columbia to use them for their eye-care needs. I know I'll be going here from on. Thanks Tisha and Stanton optical.

I received a flyer in the mail about this place so I decided to give them a try. I wanted to try contacts for the first time, so I figured it would be cool. I had an appointment and still waited an hour. Everyone seemed to be running around like chickens with their heads cut off. When I finally got in to see the doctor (Zeplin), his personal cell phone was ringing off the hook and he seemed so zoned out. It was so obvious he had a lot going on and couldn't give his full attention. After he rushed me out, I waited another 45 minutes for a small 'contact class'. There was a lady working alone and she went on to tell me she was working alone and there was no way she could show me how to do my contacts right now and I would have to wait. Finally, Kristina came to have my class. She was very nice, patient and helpful. The contacts didn't work out how I had imagined and I was told to come back when I could. I came, and people were waiting everywhere so I left. I called to make an appointment over the phone yesterday. They rudely told me it was fine to come at 12. When I got there, at 11:30, they told me they didn't have my name and I would have to wait another hour and fifteen minutes for an appointment so I left. I would not recommend this Stanton to anyone and I only gave the three stars for Kristina.

Recently I was looking for a place to get my eyes examined and glasses replaced. I had my current glasses for several years and now being in my 60’s, I wanted a place that was convenient, fair, reasonably priced and provided great services. I called and talked with several companies around the Columbia S.C. area. I saw the Stanton Optical ad and called their Harbison Store in Columbia S.C. I was skeptical about their services as I had read so many bad reviews but decided that I would try this company as they were much better than the other places that I had called for an appointment. I was pleased with my first time visit and my results as I tend to be very critical of businesses in my “older” years. Pros They answered the phone in a timely manner and listened to what I needed. They set the appointment based on my schedule. They answered my questions (I had quite a few of them). They have adequate parking for customers. I was greeted by Troy (sales representative) at the door. He very kind, knowledgeable and is a great listener. I was allowed to look at frames at my own pace before I went to see the doctor. I arrived a little early. The store has a large selection of frames. Frames available are current, contemporary and vintage styles for the consumer. The appointment was as scheduled and on time. There was adequate staff and seating for every customer in the store. The store was comfortable and laid out to provide customers with room to move freely. They have a doctor on site that does an exam. Doctor McTague is wonderful. She was concise, took her time, explained everything she was doing and made sure that I got the right prescription for my eyes. She has a great sense of humor and never tried to rush me while she was doing the exam. The eye exam was very through. She adjusted my lenses lengths especially for me as I use the computer a lot for my work. Although eye exams are scheduled for every 15 minutes mine took longer. Dr. McTague bases exams on the needs of the patient not the business. She provided me with temporary sun glasses as I had my eyes dilated and it was bright in the store. The total time at the store was about 1 hour and 15 minutes. I called back seven days later and after talking with four different people I found that my glasses were ready. They fit perfect and I can now see perfect. Cons I was told when scheduling my appointment that I would have my new glasses before the end of the day. They told me that they made them at this store including bifocals. The Stanton Optical Company should let consumers up front know that certain lenses cannot be made in hours but may require several days to make sure they are correct. Location of store at Harbison is at times hard to get to as it is down from the mall and traffic is difficult. Traffic is not the fault of the store. I was told to call the automated number to find out my glasses status. The automated number did not work and my number was not in the system. It took me over a half an hour to find out the status of my glasses. I had to be transferred four times to the right person. I was told that the system was not working. Stanton needs to get this system working especially if they are telling customers to call but the system is not working. Summary If you are like me and older (60’s and above) then this store is a great place to go. Their eye exam, doctor and staff are great. Their prices are fair. You can asked in advance the approximate cost of any frame, lenses and exams before you go. I found this experience very pleasant. After reading so many negative reviews I wanted to be sure that these folks get recognized for the good things that I experienced getting my glass.

The entire staff was friendly and made the whole process effortless. Only took about an hour from the moment I stepped in the door, got my eyes examined and picked out frames and lenses options. Cory spent time helping me decide what would work best for my situation and never made me feel rushed to make my decision. Kristi even found some frames and took the lenses from my broken glasses and reshaped them to fit so I could have a pair while mine were being ordered. They were amazing! Will not go anywhere else again.

I scheduled an appt over a week ago for 12:45pm, I arrived 10 minutes early only to be told the doctor was behind schedule and couldn't see me until after 2pm. They coulda given a call or email. Do not use Stanton on Harbison. Had the manager Robert not exhibited excellent customer service, I would not have returned. Kudos to Stanton for employing such an amazing manager.

First of all the test IS NOT FREE.. U pay $45 for it and it's "credited" back to u when u choose which glasses u want. The 2 for 69 glasses were a crock. They only had like 20 frames to choose from and most of them were the same just different colors. The doctor was super nice and made me feel very comfortable and so was mostly everyone else that I came in contact with and that's the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars. Word of advice tho.. From the moment a customer walks through the door they should feel welcomed and be greeted. That's was my first time there and I didn't feel that what so ever. The lady with the gray and black hair walked past me at least 3 times and It took the Spanish girl in the front literally 5 minutes to ask me what I needed help with and there was only one other customer in there.. Overall it was an ok experience.

Went with my wife to help her pick out new frames; ended up getting my own as well! Even though I had not made an appointment, they were able to squeeze me in for an eye exam and I was actually finished before my wife. The staff was fantastic and the optometrist I saw was very personable. My glasses were ready to pick up an hour after I picked my frames since they had my lens prescription in stock, yet another plus in my book. I will absolutely be using this location again in the future. 5/5 Stars.

Dr. Zeplin was warm and attentive and answered all my questions. Then, the hard part: picking out frames. Christina Perry came to my rescue and helped me find two pairs that worked well for my head shape and complexion, including a pair I never would have picked myself but turned out to be my favorite. Very friendly and mindful staff. It was mildly busy on a tuesday afternoon. Don't love the location, as it is by a local and usually busy mall area. Process flows fairly smooth. But there is a lot of fine print, and not many options of frames with the lower specials. Look for the blue tags. My review is low because i assumed i would be leaving with glasses. Found out around checkout that " a part" was being fixed. Was never really asked if that was ok, just told, i think, after i had paid. Waiting three days now when i may have been able to visit the location on two notch road.

Not only did I get a great deal on my eyeglasses, the employees worked together and found out that my lenses were in stock AND I got them made in less than 1 hour. The best experience I have ever had with getting my eye checked. Very quick I walked in early and instead of them telling me they couldn't see me early they said we will see if we can get you in but while you wait let find some glasses. Deja Montgomery was the most patient and helpful when it came to helping me find the right pair of glasses. When it was time for my appointment it took no time and didn't wait at all for the Dr to come in. He got me my contacts made sure they fit and I was back out to get the glasses finished. Within 20mins after checking out my glasses were ready and still had my whole day left. Less then an hour and a half I had an exam contact and glasses. UPDATE::: This location went above and beyond to fix the problem. After receiving the wrong prescription and wrong frames. The fixed the glasses, gave her the right frames and had us leaving happy customers. This is being generous. Last Friday when we went in to find glasses, first we were with one tech who left us to help someone else out. After our daughter's glasses we waited 15 minutes with no help. Finally a young gentleman came over and started to help us but stopped saying he has to give us to someone else because he has to leave. We were shuffled to someone else. The entire time she worked with us, not once did she tell us the eye glass machine was down until after we paid. When we asked how long it will take she said gave a promise date or April 2nd at the latest. April 2nd came went with no glasses. I called together to check on the status and was put on hold for 40 minutes. I gave my number with a promise I would be contacted back if we lost connect. She never called me back. My husband called back two hours later and now we are being told they will not he in until next Tuesday. This is unacceptable and unprofessional. After I get my daughter's glasses I will never us this facility again. If you can not keep the promise date, you shouldn't give one. If I knew I would have to wait two weeks for my child's glass I would have gone to Eyemart. At least they keep to their promise dates.

They sent me to the hospital and they stayed on the phone always calling to check on me and to see why it took so long. I bought three pairs--very affordable--and the turn around time was quick; one day for the two "easy" pairs, and another week for the "complicated" pair (all before the promised date). These bad reviews are all truthful however, I do not feel cheated yet. My lenses are expensive anyway so what I paid for one pair and an eye exam at Eyemart I received two pair with all the bells and whistles that I usually can not afford. UV coating, glare and scratch protection and a two year warranty on the lenses which I think is awesome. I was a bit confused when I had to pay for the eye exam which should be free but I still came out cheaper. Now, I will say that have to go back because I think my script is too strong (everything is in 3D) but I will have to wait for an adjustment because the person is off today.

Nice location, nice selection, etc. Everyone is very nice, but I loved the doctor and the girl who makes you appointments as well as collects the payment for exam. The sales lady was nice as well and did the best she could meaning she has a job where after you get the total, it's hard to like her. Lol I say that as in these places along with America's Best run deals that makes it seem as if you aren't going to spend tons. The 2 for $59.99 only covers individuals at -1.75 & below or as they put it BoGo free. If you are above that -1.75, you have to pay for the lenses as well as the frames. The glasses with blue tags actually take 2 weeks to be ordered and made with lenses. For me, due to issues with my eyes I needed glasses with that rx that same day. I picked two, it was like $300 after I paid $89.99 for the contact exam. Well, I said no ma'am I can't pay that! With vision savings club 2 year plan, I was able to get one pair for $130. The other pair was was an additional $116. I also was given eye drops that I was able to get discounted at the pharmacy for $23 instead of $40. So, the damage at Stanton was about $250 (exam, 1 pair of glasses, and eye drops). NO CONTACTS as I'll be ordering those online as well. Whewww! However, to get my second pair, I went online and got a pair of really cute glasses with lens & all the scratch resistant, uv protection, and anti reflective for $66; it was originally $91. I'd give them 5 stars, if they were more upfront about costs. I'll still go back for exams, but the glasses and contacts will be bought online. If you're waiting on your glasses to be made, keep an eye out on the front because the reps are so busy they won't stop what they're doing to tell you your glasses are ready. So, if you don't want to be there longer than needed... PAY ATTENTION. GOOD LUCK!
