If I could give Dr. Pietruszka & Elite Eye Care more stars I would. I was having issues with my left eye and I was able to get a next day appointment. After seeing the doctor I had follow up questions and they got back to me even though it was after hours. I popped into the office recently on a Sunday for an eye exam and was pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere & service. Everyone I interacted with was kind, informative, and an overall pleasure to chat with. Kudos for the COVID protocols.. I felt extremely safe. It’s not often you find doctors with weekend hours so if you’re in the market for a new eye doctor, check this place out. Truly five stars all around!

Not only is the doctor professional and thorough, but he is also a great communicator; he explained everything he needed to do carefully and was always very friendly and kind. They have been my go-to doc for eyecare needs since they opened right before the pandemic. Locally owned, supportive of the community, including local schools and nonprofits. Also, excellent selection of frames. He has all the most recent evolutions of eye care technologies, which makes the process of getting tested easy and fast. This was hands down the best eye clinic experience I’ve ever had. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful, and Dr. Pietruszka went out of his way to spend time to make sure my prescription was on point and that I was satisfied with the lens fitting. Plus, their frame collection is incredible. And, above all, they accept my insurance, which is increasingly rare these days. I would highly recommend to anyone in the Chicago area.

First visit to eye doctor in years! I was originally just going to go to vision works but the reviews were not good for nearby locations. Found this office after search of in network providers and I’m very pleased! Dr. P and his mom are great! My exam was very thorough. Picking out and fitting frames went smoothly. I have never had fun during an eye appointment but after 2020, anything is possible. Making an appointment online was simple and fast. I lucked out and made an appointment for the following day. Safety and cleanliness was 10 out of 10. When you arrive, you are given a fresh disposable mask and lead directly to the hand washing station. You will be the only patient there. Evelyn is a delightful person who works for her son, Doctor Matt. She's so kind and really great at helping you find the right frames. She's very knowledgeable. Doctor Matt is the BEST eye doctor I have ever had. I have test anxiety. I knew I wasn't going to be graded, but it's just one of those things. He made me feel comfortable with his patience, encouraging words and sense of humor. He explained everything to me I needed to know about my eyes. This is a fantastic addition to the neighborhood and you can tell they really care here. I am completely sold.

They also really worked with my insurance, who ran into an issue during authorization. I felt very informed throughout the exam and in buying frames. I always go back and forth in choosing new healthcare providers because I love the convenience of making appointments online, etc, but also like smaller offices where it feels personal and you don't get cranked through. Here, I didn't have to choose. Awesome young doctor starting his own practice and super concerned about his patients and offering them all the latest technology and convenience. I first started coming here because it is close to where I live. I had very good experience here and would keep coming back even if I moved away. Dr. P and his mom are great people and provide excellent customer service. Thorough eye exam - Dr. P took time to answer all my questions and make sure that I have the correct prescription. The office is nice and bright and the equipment are new and clean. Really appreciate their efforts to save paper as well - they used dry erase marker and sheets for patients to fill out paperwork. I highly recommend this place!

This is a great office! I switched eye doctors because my old one was too far away and I immediately felt welcomed and comfortable. Dr. Pietruszka was awesome. He knew what he was doing and made sure I was comfortable and understood what was happening during the appointment. Since I was the last appointment of the day, we chatted as I checked out and ended up talking with him and his mom (the receptionist) for 20 min! The Doctor was a young sharp guy, who was very thorough. Made sure I understood everything I needed to, as did his mom, the receptionist lol. I wish I understood vision insurance though, they both made mentioned I had great insurance, yet my bill still cane to nearly $500, that was with -$175 on the frames. How are lenses so damn expensive!? Minus the fact that I think they may be up charging, I was very satisfied with the service and I can see!!

Highly recommend - I’m a physician at Northwestern and I usually go to my colleagues at the hospital, but Dr P was able to get me in same day and was super easy to work with. First off, this place has the BEST COVID protocols of any store I have been to during this pandemic. Everything was cleaned and sanitized before my appointment. I was the only customer in there the entire time and apparently they really space appointments out to make this happen. Dr. Pietruszka was awesome! He took his time during my exam and answered all of my questions. He also wore a mask and followed protocols. I didn't feel rushed at all, which was a sharp contrast to the last place I went to for an exam. Picking out glasses was a simple and smooth process, and they have a great selection to choose from. Definitely worth checking out and I know I'll be back next year!

Small local business that's incredibly kind and welcoming. Dr. Pietruszka was excellent throughout my exam and afterward, walking me through everything and answering any questions I had as I thought of them. I had questions going in about future LASIK surgery and I was really appreciative that he recommended against it since it wouldn't work in my case and I'd get less-than-ideal results. I also appreciated the strict hygiene and virus precautions they took for my appointment. They made sure to straddle appointments in-general to minimize contact between patients, and they give you a brand new mask when you enter the office and have you wash your hands. Maybe it's something you can take for granted because it's a doctor's office, but I appreciated all the extra precautions they took. I've historically seen optometrists at larger chains, and I much prefer my experience from Elite Eye Care. I'll definitely be recommending anyone who asks to Dr. Pietruszka

Visited a few days ago for the first time and my experience was WONDERFUL! I had an eye health scare and needed to be seen right away and Dr. Pietruszka MADE time for me, despite his full schedule for that day. Him and the receptionist were polite and kind. I can tell the doctor loves what he does for a living, he was soooo incredibly KIND! Both provided professional service. This business follows great COVID safety guidelines. The office is so clean and appealing. I was given samples and prescribed a medicated eye compress which I needed, but was never offered from any other optometrist. I HIGHLY recommend Elite Eye Care!

I recently took my 4 year old for his first eye exam and I can’t even begin to tell you how wonderful his experience was. It’s scary for kids to see any doctor but the doctor here was spectacular with him. I even let him alone with the Dr. in the exam room and he came out with all smiles! Super fast, super friendly, and I wouldn't go anywhere else! Also they use really cool tech (no annoying puff in your eyes). The machine they use to take pictures of the back of your eyes (insert science-y term here) means that most of the time, they don't need to dilate your pupils to check they're healthy. Also super understanding while I was trying to figure stuff out with insurance. 100% recommend!

They are also a "green" office, so no paper is used for the compliance forms and waivers. I was in a bind and Elite Eye Care went above and beyond to help me out: I was in Chicago from out of town for a couple fo weeks and lost my glasses, just a few weeks shy of when I’d be due for a new prescription. They made time to see me that day to get a new prescription, and then rushed to get me a new pair of glasses. They couldn’t have been nicer and more helpful in the whole process. They have a wide selection of frames, and staff was very helpful in getting some insurance issues sorted out. Highly recommended. 2021 update: Went back recently and they have a very secure covid protocol in place. Safest place for an eye exam!

My sincere thanks to Dr. Pietruszka and his office manager (his mom! how cool is THAT?!) for their prompt and efficient repair of my eye glasses today. I walked in without an app't and had to wait only the briefest of moments as I luckily caught Dr. P. in between patients. He kindly repaired my eyeglasses on the spot and I was on my way before I knew it. Well, we did have a fun chat about Pilsen, the South Loop, and our respective backgrounds. He's way cool! Elite is new to the neighborhood and we welcome them! They have a beautiful shop, filled with sunlight, and a plethora of frame choices. Dr. P. stated he offers treatments and exams (although probably best to book an app't). I came in for a repair but will return as a patient. Thanks, Dr. P., you rock! I am rating 5 stars because the doctor was great, exam went well, and the facility was very nice. However, I do have feedback around their COVID protocols. I came in wearing a new N95 mask and was asked to remove it while in the lobby and put on a new disposable mask that reception handed to me. I asked if I could place it over my N95 mask and they said no. This is problematic because my exposure protection was decreased in switching out the masks indoors and only being able to wear the less protective mask provided. Their COVID protocols shared in advance over email did not mention having to change and wear a different mask within the office, so I was not expecting this and would likely not have came if I had known due to the increased risk of exposure. Other than this, my appointment was excellent; my advice is to change the protocol or at least clarify this process in the appointment confirmation email so others are aware in advance.
