Dr.Berger’s office staff and technicians are highly trained and very competent. The first face that I saw was Stephanie’s. She set an amazing tone for all of my testing. I was nervous and she allayed my fears. She executed a wide array of tests in an efficient and professional manner, and all with a smile! After the testing, I met Dr. Berger. He reviewed the test results, performed an additional test, and confirmed the diagnosis of Fuch’s Dystrophy, recommending corneal transplant surgery. He explained the different types of surgery. Dr. Berger’s demeanor is not only calm but also had a calming effect on me. I felt that I was in good hands. There were numerous office visits and additional tests, both before and after the actual operation. It was during these visits that I met two wonderful technicians. Thank you, Lisa and Sam. My surgery went well and I am now healing. I have met with Dr. Berger often, to keep tabs on my progress. All in all, as far as surgical experiences go, this one went beyond my expectations. I was Diagnosed with Keratoconus back in 2015.. cross linking surgery wasn’t approved yet so I waited until this year to get it done. Dr. Berger is wonderful. The staff are all super nice from the front desk to the technicians that worked with me. I had my third follow up today and my appointment when great and my left eye’s cornealgraph(sorry for my spelling there) showed that It Significantly improved the issue. I developed an eye condition the required cross linking. I had a horrible experience with another doctor's office and then multiple people told me I needed to see Dr Berger. They were not wrong because I've always been comfortable with his staff and his FDA APPROVED (some doctors won't tell you their option is not, so this is important) procedure for Cross Linking has since helped my eye condition not only stop from ending up causing blindness, but it has reversed a bit! Results may vary obviously, but you can't go wrong with this office.

I had been seeing another ophthalmologist for many years. During the last several years, I basically lost the vision in my left eye due to a very thick cataract and a failed cornea from a previous cornea transplant. That doctor seemed reluctant to perform a “triple” operation (cataract removal, lens insertion and cornea transplant). Frustrated, I consulted with Dr. Berger and he was willing to investigate going forward with the “triple”. He researched my existing conditions, made observations of my eye and after three months he performed the “triple” procedure. The operation has been a success with my vision restored right after the operation. In addition, Dr. Berger recommended the use of a scleral contact lens in my eyes to improve my vision. Lisa Oliveri, his Ophthalmic Technician/Manager, refracted me and with her patience fitted me with one that is very comfortable and has improved the vision. I am very thankful for finding Dr. Berger and his willingness to go forward with this challenging triple procedure considering the condition of my left eye. I am pleased with the results and appreciate his patience and, importantly, his skill with this difficult procedure. I also appreciate Lisa for her patience fitting me with a scleral contact lens. The office receptionist staff and all the technicians are courteous, competent and willing to help. I am so thankful for those who offer their corneas at their time of passing. Without their donations, myself and so many others would not enjoy the benefits of this important contribution for the gift of sight.

Dr. Craig Berger is a quiet, calm miracle worker. A friend from church highly recommended him to me. He is her husband’s corneal specialist and surgeon and has helped his sight greatly. I have a corneal dystrophy in both eyes. Previously, before coming to Dr. Berger, I had been told that this dystrophy makes cataract surgery more complex and my sight could be compromised. I badly needed the cataracts removed. Dr. Berger did a beautiful job and now my vision is so good that my corneal transplants can wait until some point in the future. He also helps to secure reasonably priced sets of eye drops and does not push the purchase of expensive lenses. He simply asks “Do you want to wear glasses after the surgery or prefer not to? Both alternatives produce equal results. It’s up to you, your personal choice.” He himself carefully explains the choices and procedures to his patients and answers all questions. I feel blessed by his expertise and grateful for this wondrous gift of excellent vision! When the day comes that I need corneal transplants I will have great confidence in him. I highly recommend him. He has a highly efficient, excellent, friendly staff also.

Bay Area Eye institute has helped me in many ways and thanks to them they have helped the quality of my life. I noticed at age 18 that the vision in my eye was very distorted and glasses nor contact lenses did not seem to work. It wasn’t until I came into Dr. Berger’s office were he quickly was able to diagnose that I had a rare condition called Keratoconus and a cross linking eye surgery would have to be performed. Being the age I was with not much knowledge on the condition , I will say that I was nervous but I trusted Dr. Berger’s expertise and my vision has been corrected from 20/80 in my right eye to 20/25. Not only does Bay Area Eye have great optical knowledge. Lisa and staff always make you feel welcome and you can truly see that they enjoy helping people and are there to help answer any questions. My appointment this week with Dr. Berger and his team was excellent. Everyone was really courteous and professional. It stated from the moment I made my appointment throughout the entire visit. The woman I made the appointment with was excellent. She was quick to assist, very nice and helped me to get in to see the doctor the same day to see the doctor due to my emergent concern. I wish I could remember her name, it may be something like Lisi. Once there, checkin was seamless. The assistant I saw first was exceptional. I unfortunately can’t remember her name also but she has long brown hair and did a great job of getting all the medical info together for Dr. Berger’s review and she was professional, knowledgeable and extremely nice. Dr. Berger is a really smart and accomplished cornea specialist/surgeon with a great bedside manner. He listened carefully to my concern (reason for my visit), then examined me to ultimately confirm that my corneas were looking healthy after a recent eye surgery. After having cornea transplants 5 years ago I wanted to confirm that all waa looking good despite my feeling like something was inside my eye possibly scratching my cornea. I was thankful that the office was able to work me in to see the doctor the same day and I am thankful that Dr. Berger confirmed that nothing waa in my eye ( despite my feeling like there was something in there) and that my corneas were looking great.

Dr Berger performed DMEK surgery on my right eye to correct vision issues caused by Fuchs dystrophy. From my first visit to my 30 day check, I found the staff to be friendly and knowledgeable. The surgery itself was a great success. I am seeing better in my right eye than I have in over ten years. I recently had corneal crosslinking done by Dr Berger on my left eye just a few days ago. Prior to the surgery, I was super nervous and anxious but Dr Berger + his team made the experience super smooth-sailing and comfortable. I have never been a fan of doctors, surgeries, etc but they took their time and understood my anxiousness, and were very very patient when it came to performing the surgery and making sure that me, their patient, being comfortable was their #1 priority. They dimmed the lights, maintained light/comfortable conversation, and let me play whatever music I wanted throughout the procedure. Had a good experience at my appointment earlier this week for a consultation. It's hard to get a hold of someone when you call with questions so emailing seems best. There was a mixup with my appointment time because I never received a confirmation so make sure you double check but they were nice and the appointment was quick. I had a skillful tech who was very professional and the doctor looked busy but still took the time for any questions that I had. I haven't received any treatment yet so can't comment on that but my experience.so far has been good

Dr. Berger’s Office worked me in for an early appointment on Monday, August 10, 2020, as a referral from Dr. Levite’s Office, for evaluation of a cornea eye infection. I was relieved to learn that no new paperwork was required since my last visit was two years ago (I was told by the receptionist they update info. every 3 years).... So many medical offices require updated paperwork for each visit nowadays. Dr. Berger’s staff was helpful and prompt in calling me back to the examination room. When I was called into one of the patient rooms, the staff started running all test normally done at an eye appointment.
