A few days ago I went in for my first visit to Petelin Vision. I was greatly impressed by their friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable staff. I met Julia, Sheena, Ted, and Dr. Jacobsen and was treated so kindly by all of them. All of my questions were answered thoroughly and in great detail. I walked out a very happy camper and felt a lot of confidence in their practice. My husband has had cataract surgery performed in both of his eyes by Dr. Petelin and we both highly recommend Petelin Vision.

Best eye surgeon in the valley!! Have been going to him for years, He did my cataract surgery and I have had 20/20 vision ever since. I had RK years ago and finding a surgeon to do my cataract surgery was impossible until I found Dr Petelin. I also have wet macular degeneration which Dr Shorb and Dr Petelin have kept under control. So great full I found this wonderful doctor. Great staff and beautiful office and friendly atmosphere. The only thing I have that’s negative is the waiting time from check in to being called in then more wait time to see the Dr. All in all it was 90 minutes from start to finish. I don’t thin OK I’m being unfair, but one hour for the total visit should be enough? It all depends on who’s ahead of me and how important their visit is compared to my routine visit. I wouldn’t switch to another Dr.. I really like Petelin Vision and I drive 45 minutes from my garage to their office. I know I’m getting the best care..thank you.

My husband had successful bilateral cataract surgery by Dr Petelin recently. When I went with him for his follow up appointments, I observed a friendly, caring, & organized group of physicians and staff at the Petelin Scottsdale & Deer Valley locations. With the staff’s assistance, the process of transferring my records from another eye group, making a new pt appt, being seen by Dr Jacobsen, plus getting the needed rx order, all took place in a short period of time! I am very pleased with this Petelin group! In comparison, my other eye group in the Peoria area appeared to be poorly managed & lacking in clear timely staff communications to address & resolve pt requests. That is not acceptable!

The only issue I had with my appointment was more a problem with my GPS providing accurate guidance to the building, south of Raintree, where Petelin’s office was located. This was my first time to this office and finding the right building was the only issue. So look for the right address on the different buildings to find the right location. Check-in was quick and easy, and my wait was maybe 10 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. Kaitlyn conducted my initial eye exam and was very professional and answered all of my questions. This was my first time being examined by Dr. Jacobson, who was very courteous, professional and also took the time to answer all of my questions. Overall, a very pleasant and comfortable experience.

I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Jacobsen for an annual exam, and to discuss options for vision correction so I no longer need to wear glasses. I had Lasik surgery on my left eye, the procedure was quick, easy and painless. 5 minutes after I was done I walked out the door able to see better then I have in years. After being told by another eye doctor in Scottsdale that I needed cataract surgery, I made an appointment at the N. Hayden Rd office of Petelin Vision to schedule the surgery. Of course they did another thorough exam but Dr. Shifrin came up with a different conclusion. He agreed I do have the beginnings of cataracts, as many of us older folks do, but, since they aren’t interfering with with my lifestyle, Dr. Shifrin gave me a new prescription and suggested a follow up exam in a year. Apparently the cataracts were not to the point where they would be covered by insurance anyway (which my previous eye doc did not share with me). My wife had been to Dr. Shifrin in December and had a very pleasant experience and I would have to agree. The man knows his stuff and has a great “bedside” manner. I would heartily recommend.

I was literally told 4 different serious eye issues from an eye center (that has multiple offices throughout the valley), and was within 48 hours of having eye surgery. I was lucky enough to get an appointment at Scottsdale Center for Sight and found out my eye was healthy, I was in the wrong prescription in my lenses. I felt relieved to find him, as we moved from Austin to Scottsdale, and I had no resources. Dr Paul Petelin was referred to me by another sports eye surgeon and made the visit to his Sun Lakes office. It couldn't be any better. My surgery was successful 4 years ago and due to that, I discovered I had white lights in my house...not yellow!! Earlier this year I underwent cataract removal with a topic lens insertion in each eye. As my vision has been very poor since I was five years old, I was quite apprehensive and expected to need glasses after surgery. I was wrong. Dr. Petelin corrected my vision and I no longer require even reading glasses -- just quality sunglasses outdoors!I have a serious latex allergy and Dr. Petelin operates in a latex-free environment. His Scottsdale Center for Sight's staff is well trained, polite, conscientious, and patient. The office is clean, efficiently run. I will now seek my routine care and glaucoma checks from Dr. Petelin.

Overall, I would give Dr. Petelin 5 stars- I spent 3 years researching and getting comfortable with lasik surgery. Dr. Petelin was referred to me by a another Surgeon. The first surgery went great for the left eye but the right eye had some cloudiness, one full year later after multiple visits, the right eye was touched up and it has been great. The five stars are for his patience and professionalism in making sure my right eye was ready for the touch up. I would recommend Dr. Petelin to anyone and have sent several friends for a checkup.

I have been concerned about the cataracts the Doctor said I was developing. I was a little frustrated from the beginning, that all I was told was the diagnosis, no explanation or discussion about what I should look out for, etc. I returned to get checked to see what had changed and was told the Doctor would be unable to do a cataract test without two other tests that I would have to pay for. Obviously, since I was not educated about my condition in the beginning, I could be wrong, but I THINK cataract changes are something different than changes in my vision prescription, which I get at another place. Of course there was no explanation. Simply, "no other tests, no cataract consult". I believe my health is also my responsibility and I need to be smart to make decisions. I did not find that here. However, Dr. Petalin, the mohs surgeon, was very informative, so I don't want this to be a blanket "Dr. Petalin" review. If you don't care about knowing your health, and additional tests you pay for is no problem, I suppose Dr. Petalin is OK, judging his busy office.
