Recently I had cataract surgery (both eyes) performed at ME&E by Dr. Silas Wang. Dr. Wang has been helping me with my vision problems for several years and after much putting off by me, I finally had the surgery done. I would be hard pressed to rate Dr. Wang’s help anything less than excellent. I have been and continue to be very very happy with my experiences at ME&E and with Dr. Wang. Besides being highly qualified and capable he is caring and kind – always making me feel relaxed and in the best hands possible. How do you adequately express deep gratitude for a physician who restores your vision after multiple retina surgeries? That's exactly what Dr. Silas Wang did for me. In addition to his experience and exceptional technical skills, Dr. Wang has a patient and empathic bedside manner. He was not hurried during our visits, took as much time as necessary to answer any and all questions, and consistently encouraged me to call if I had any concerns - particularly after so many eye complications. Dr Wang is an incredible doctor , had both cataracts removed a with great success .He is a skilled surgeon and beyond that takes the time to explain procedures and answer questions . He called after both procedures to check up on my well-being .He returns emails , he is kind ,professional and I was blessed to be in such good hands . The office staff and MEE staff was excellent .

This has to be the best intensive (surgical) experience of my life. Doctor Wang is excellent, highly communicative, with a warm and professional personality. His office staff, including Allison, are great. My experience on the day of the cataract surgery at Mass Eye and Ear was exceptional! Dr Russell, the anesthesiologist, listened to my concerns from previous bad experiences, and took them seriously. SIMPLY THE BEST. Your vision is something precious and something to take seriously. It is something you want not to take casually and for convenience. I searched for the best and found it with Silas Wang MD at Mass Eye and Ear Boston. Dr Wang performed surgery on both my eyes. The experience was easy and painless and coordinated with a grand support staff. Suffice to say my vision was poor and my lenses were thick and glasses were always on my head. After surgery with DR Wang it was astounding, I say like a miracle, I wake each day with a clear view of the world sans glasses. That is pretty awesome and I "see" that it is every day. Thanks to the skill of this fine gentleman.

My experience at Mass Eye and Ear could not have been better. Starting with the parking attendants in front of the Hospital, to the lobby personnel, to the receptionists, they were all cordial and very helpful. The medical staff was extremely professional in the conduct of the exams and answered any questions I posed. Dr. Silas Wang exudes the competence that made me feel comfortable during the whole cataract preparations and the actual surgery. I would recommend him and his staff with no reservations. Dr. Wang was very thorough- asked excellent questions and was genuinely concerned about my eye condition. He made sure I knew I understood the treatment plan and was patient with my questions. I did have to wait 2 1/2 hours for my apt, but I see that the fault of the institution rather than the provider.

I was extremely anxious about surgery (never having been operated on before) and after my eye doctor told me I would not be able to get my licence renewed because of my vision I made an appointment with Dr Wang. He made me feel comfortable and explained everything that would happen. After the first surgery he call me the same day at home to find out how I was doing. The second eye was just as easy (for me) and I'd recommend cataract surgery for everyone (Even if they don't have cataracts!!) Dr Wang changed my life at the most basic level!!! Fantastic!!

I recently had cataracts removed by Dr. Wang. During the initial exam he thoroughly explained what I could expect from the procedure. I was given detailed written information explaining the process and necessary preparation. The day of the surgery he again explained what was going to happen and answered all of my questions. Dr. Wang performed my cataract surgery a month ago. I have been thoroughly pleased with the entire process from pre-testing through surgery and 3 followup exams. The office was run quite efficiently. I never waited more than a few minutes to be seen. The technicians who saw me before the doctor were always knowledgeable, polite, and efficient. I also never felt rushed by Dr. Wang. He answered all questions fully and made sure that we understood everything. The operation was successful and was quick and easy (for the patient). I will definitely return to Dr. Wang to do surgery on my other eye when it comes time!

Dr. Silas is a good doctor but his secretary Rita is extremely RUDE and not helpful at all. She shouldn’t be working in a doctors office with her attitude. She told me three times that Dr. Silas referred me to dermatology and I spoke with dermatology three times and the secretary didn’t see any referrals. Rita should’ve called over to dermatology the second time I called to let the dermatology secretary know what the referral was for. Mind you I left two messages within two weeks and she finally called back after I had already booked the appointment prior to her returning my call. She also put me on hold and told me to calm down after going back and forth with her and asking to speak with a manager.

My experience with Dr Silas Wang was one of Gratitude I have never had eye problems before and was recommended to Dr Wang for my problem. Appointment day! He was someone who you could feel very comfortable with explaining your problems to. He listened as if I was his only patient. I never felt rushed he took the time to really examine the problem and treat me. He truly has a gift of treating and diagnosing you with an very light touch, without making you uncomfortable or in pain. He is very though and kind. Then I discovered how very expense eye drops and care can be. He helped me get a RX that my insurance would finally accept. In my book that's a miracle. When I got home I was telling my family about this great Dr Silas Wang, when my brother who has many eye issues said "Oh, that's my Doctor! Don't you love him". I never knew the connection.

Dr. Wang performed cataract surgery on my right eye recently. My vision in that eye was significantly impaired. The surgery was painless. The experience was better than I could have hoped for with absolutely no discomfort. My vision now is perfect and when the time comes for my left eye to be done I will certainly go back to Dr. Wang. He is entirely competent and takes time with his patients to fully explain the procedure and answer any questions the patient may have. Certainly, the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary is a world leader in ophthalmic treatment and were are fortunate to have such a facility in Boston.

As a person who has had Type II Diabetes for over 20 years, astigmatism and cataracts, I was apprehensive about having cataract surgery. Dr. Wang was recommended to me as a highly qualified, comprehensive ophthalmologist. Over the last two months, Dr. Wang has operated on each of my eyes for cataracts. His exam/evaluation was thorough and his explanation of my specific conditions was very clear. During the two surgeries he placed a Toric lense in each eye to correct the astigmatism. The result was that my distance vision was corrected to 20:20 with improvement in my reading vision as well! At this point, all I need are “magnifiers” for reading. Dr. Wang’s demeanor and expertise are top notch. I highly recommend him.

When it became necessary for me to have my failing eye sight addressed I was told Mass. Eye & Ear is the choice for the best care. My experience with the two cataract operations proved my decision to select your hospital was correct. While I am not a sport nut, there is a definite comparison to the actions of Dr. Silas Wang’s medical team and a successful sports team. Everyone knew what is required of them to have a successful surgery and a happy patient. It reminds me of Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger who safely landed US Airways plane on the freezing Hudson River with 150 passengers aboard.
