Reviews of The Grove at Valhalla Rehabilitation and Nursing Center

The Grove at Valhalla was a great place for my mother's recovery following her femur surgery. The staff was ready and willing to help her every step of the way.
The friendly environment made her 2 month stay a much easier place to be.
The facility was clean and pleasantly appealing. My mother couldn't have improved without the encouragement she received from her therapists, nurses, aides and doctors. I would highly recommend The Grove to anyone seeking a rehabilitation facility!

This place has it's ups as well as downs. I feel that my mother is taken care of, but I visit this facility often. Do I recommend this place...........yes, but just don't leave your loved ones here without visiting. Remember, people will be people. I just want them to treat my mom with love and respect. My mother does not cause any problems and I don't want her to have any problems from staff. Overall, not a bad place, just visit often. Oh......the staff has been very friendly, and the food looks good.

My stay at the Grove has been a wonderful experience. The rehab has been fantastic, pushing me each day to get better. The therapists Jerry, Gregg and Richmond are the best therapist to work with. The concierge Eli has been very assertive with any questions, issues, or concerns that came up. I would recommend this facility to anyone.

We were greeted by Donna at the front desk with such a very nice welcome. We were pleasantly tested by Donna and told and helped with the procedure. Our visit was lovely and many people came in to see if our patient was in need of anything. When we left Donna and a nurse said goodnight to us and wised us happy holidays!

The front area was very clean and a lovely scent hits you at the door. I can’t figure out what it is but it smells great. The receptionist is very friendly and greets us with a smile each visit . Today there was a young man played by and singing on the piano. It sounded so peaceful and beautiful.

The grove is so nice. People are incredibly friendly. My aunt loves the food. Eli the concierge couldn’t be more attentive to all the residents. He makes sure everyone is comfortable and content. He moonlights as the resident musician. Would recommend for anyone that is looking for a wonderful facility for there loved one.

My first time to the grove. I was first impressed with the grounds. Nicy manercured. I could relax outside alone. The inside just as enjoyable it was a calming atmosphere, clean and fresh. The staff was very inviting. 2 Thumbs up for The Grove

Very clean & nice Facility, front desk was very friendly & nice. Floor staff could be more friendly & welcoming to guest but most of all the patients. Overheard some staff rude to the patients, should not work in a place if you don’t care for the elderly!

The entire campus was huge, lots of different types of buildings, spaced out and pretty grounds. The lobby I walked into was very elegant and even the hallways and room where my grandma is staying were all very nice.
Laurette LeGendre
I was there to visit a patient for the first time today and was in awe of the aesthetics and finishes. As an architect who has been in the design & construction industry for over 40 years your facility was very well planned. The front lobby and patient’s room were two areas I took notice of - the design, the colors of the finishes, carpet design pattern are to be commended. Kudos to the design team! Although I am no longer a local resident of the area, I will definitely recommend The Grove to others to at least look at to see the physical layout along with requirements to meet someone’s needs for a nursing home facility.
Sincerely,
Laurette LeGendre, AIA

My stay at the Grove was wonderful. Staff was friendly and nice. Concierge was great. Cna Carolyne was the most outstanding staff member. I Would recommend this facility to anybody that needs quality rehabing.

My mom was admitted for physical therapy a week ago. They have taken care of her to the point of knowing her name l, keeping her dressed and cleaned. They work with you to find the best solution as well!!

The care at the Grove is outstanding in every way. The staff provides the very best of care to all residents. It is very clean and the food is high quality. My brother feels most comfortable here and we are very blessed to be cared for at the Grove. I highly recommend the Grove for your loved one.

The care at The Grove is fantastic, the nursing staff , rehab are all second to none. The food was great! I'm so grateful for everything they have done for me!

This is the third rehab we have experienced. My wife has only been here for one week. The organization, efficiency and friendliness is head and shoulders above the other two.
Update: After 1 year my opinion is the same.
The transition home was rxcerdingly difficult and long. The Grove never stopped fighting for my wife. After discharge support was also fantastic.

I had a fall at home and was sent to White Plains Hospital and the Social Worker recommended The Grove at Valhalla for Nursing and Rehab Services. I've been to 2 different facilities in the past and was going to go back to one of those but the Social Worker highly recommended to come here. How right she was! I saw pictures of the place and didn't believe that it really looked like how it did online but it does! It's like a hotel! From day one I was treated with respect and kindness from all the staff. My rehab sessions were excellent and my therapists were so nice to me. My nurses Paula and Ava were very sweet and always gave me my medicine on time. Arnee the nurse manager was very nice to me and always made sure I didn't have another fall. The food was good, I enjoyed the breakfasts. Austin the social worker was excellent and everything to me and organized my discharge plan. Aaron the Assistant Administrator was so sweet to me, he always came to say hello and see how I was doing . I would definitely come back here and highly recommend this facility for anyone that is in need of Rehab and Nursing Services!

I've never been to a Nursing and Rehab Center before and when i went to the hospital for my hip replacement, I was a bit nervous to go to one. The Social Wokrer at the hospital suggested The Grove and said she highly recommeneded this facility, so I went there. I'm so happy I took her advice because my stay and experience was very very good. I received Physical amd Occupation Therapy which truly improved my abilities to walk, lift weights, shower, and get back to where i was. My CNA Sharon was so sweet and kind. She is an excellent worker who helped me with anything and everything. My roommate was wonderful, was nice to make a new friend and we motivated each other. Aaron the Concierge was kind and checked in with me often and helped me change rooms when i was here for 14 days to go to another unit. Gloria the NP and Paula the nurse were efficient and helpful with my prescriptions and made it very easy for me to discharge. If I or anyone I know is in need for rehabilitation I definitely recommend The Grove.

I came to The Grove for Rehab after major surgery, I've never been to a skilled nursing and rehab center before. My wife had but not me. My daughter chose The Grove because we know someone who is there for long term care.
I wasn't able to function normally, wasn't able to walk and had no stamina or energy because of the surgery. The team here really worked with me to get me to walk again and get my energy back. I've been here for almost 3 months and I'm going home today and able to take care of myself properly. Rehab was excellent (Jerry and Greg) were kind and helpful. My aides Tamara and Maureen came to help me every day and made me feel like i was part of the family. Austin the Social Worker was helpful and always available. I was so comfortable here and would definitely come back if needed. If you or a loved one are in need for skilled nursing and rehab needs, The Grove is the place to go!

My mom was here at The Grove for short term rehab for a month. This was her first time in a rehab/nursing center, and we were very happy with the experience. Her occupational and physical therapist were terrific! Her nursing staff were also very kind and caring, they were very sensitive and patient with her needs. My family and i only have positive things to say about this place. Highly recommend The Grove for your loved ones therapy and nursing needs.
Joey Palamara
Great service… Theres a guy named Eli who plays guitar for the patients here and he’s very nice!

I have a unique perspective writing this review as I am both a Registered Nurse AND an involved client. I am writing this review with a clear understanding of the current realities in healthcare today & as a Wife/Caretaker. When my husband was discharged from the hospital, I knew which rehabilitation centers I DIDN’T want him to go to from past experience, even though they were more local. I was not familiar with The Grove at Valhalla Rehabilitation and Nursing Center & was concerned, as I knew that my husband had complex medical needs, and would not be able to advocate consistently well for himself. I was also fully aware that we were in the middle of a pandemic, in the midst of a healthcare shortage and his live-in Caretaker had just quit. The questions in my mind were, “Would he be safe?”, “Would he just be filling a bed or would he truly get better here?.” Well, I was pleasantly surprised when I came to find him, night after night, well taken care of & smiling when I came to see him. The staff have taken the “extra” time to get to know Denis by talking to him, attending to his needs & even singing to him, which he loves! Some of the Aides & Nurses have even told me some of the interesting and/or funny things he has said that day & have “kept me in the loop” regarding anything new regarding his care. I also am pleased that they try to keep a Continuity of Care with regard to same staffing so that he has gotten to know those that routinely care for him. A great BIG “shout out” to Freddie, Carolyn, Ava, David & Cornelius- you ROCK! There are always those “special folks” that consistently “go the extra mile”. The staff are sensitive to Denis’ biorhythms, likes/dislikes, facial expressions, and to even listen to what he’s “not saying”. The communication is open & easy. Any concerns/issues are addressed in a timely, sensitive & collaborative manner. Recently, Denis, I & the staff celebrated his 78th Birthday. It truly felt like “family” and we are both grateful and blessed for the fun time we all had together. Thank you to Judah, Elliott, Maria & Heidi who helped facilitate that event. I am happy to say that Denis is improving, is lovingly cared for, and is being treated with respect, dignity, and most importantly, compassion. That is why I am pleased to give this facility a 5 star review.

My husband was at the Grove for 3 months and received excellent care. The nursing staff was very kind and were always there for his needs. The OT,PT and speech therapy staff were excellent and went above and beyond for my husband they encouraged him him every day and truly cared for him. Again the whole staff at the Grove was Professional, kind and very accommodating. . There are 3 people who truly worked daily with my husband who we got to know and are very thankful for all there help. So thank you Pat , Michelle and Heidi for going above and beyond.

Mom was in need of rehab and we couldn't have been happier with how well she did. All of the staff from the top down cared for my mom so nicely. Everyone always had a smile on their faces and were very accommodating to her needs. All the staff were very pleasant to the family as well and kept us informed about moms progress through out her stay. I would recommend The Grove and if we need to go back it will be our first choice.

Omgosh the Grove has changed tremendously since last year!!! Everyone is helpful & making themselves available. There are more staff and everyone is happy/plesent. The rooms are clean and the guests are well cared for. We were a bit apprehensive about admitting my 85 yr old father but, again WOW we couldn't be happier 💙 …

My son in law was a patient at The Grove. He had an amputated leg and was here for 2 months. He had to get a prosthetic and learn how to walk again. He had an amazing experience and recommended The Grove for me for rehabilitation after having a mini stroke and falling. He was very instrumental in me coming here. I am so happy he recommended The Grove because my stay was fantastic. The nursing staff is really good, they are friendly and helpful. The Dr was very attentive. The food was great! The place is really nice and comfortable to recuperarte in. The Recreation Department was super! They make you feel at home and helped me open up and share ideas that I didn’t know I had. Highly recommend!

My husband was truly helped at The Grove. The Physical Therapy department is the best I've seen with one on one physical and occupational therapy for each patient unlike many other sub acute rehab facilities that line groups of three or four patients up to work sequentially with one therapist. The nursing staff is excellent and acted quickly and correctly when my husband had a medical emergency. The general atmosphere and staff are friendly and helpful and the building and grounds are beautiful, providing access to benches and shady areas so patients can get out of their rooms and enjoy the day when they want. There is even a concierge who is extremely helpful and caring.
Anthony Mercurio
The Grove is a great place to come for sub-acute rehab. I've been to 4 other rehab centers and this is by far the best. I had better therapuetic results with The Grove than at Burke. They got me walking and fully independent in 4 weeks.
All the staff were very friendly and caring. My therapist Linda and Claire were outstanding, they were tough but very supportive. My nurses were really good as well, kind and helpful. Sara and Latoya were amazing.
The accommodations were very comfortable and nice, and very clean. The overall care, therapy and customer service is just the best. Strongly recommend The Grove for your rehab needs.
Richard Bruno
Mom's first day was awesome. Staff is great especially Eric her nurse.
Sam Paperman
My experience at The Grove was wonderful. When problems occurred the staff addressed and solved it immediately. All the staff are very kind, patient and professional. A special thanks to Zara my nurse, she was fantastic and always went above and beyond.
When I first arrived I was in poor shape. With hard, consistent work and a very skilled and supportive therapy team my health has improved tremendously, my stamina has significantly increased and my ambulatory abilities have gotten a lot better!!
There were lots of engaging, educational and fun activities throughout the day and weekend. And the grounds are amazing and beautiful!! The facility is well kept, clean and very nice. The food was a lot better than I expected.
Overall, I had a great experience!

I was placed on 1 south the last week of July. I came home on Septmber 8th. I fractured each shoulder and humerus. I had surgery to repair my right arm. My left arm is being watched. I was unable to move my arms. I was in excruciating pain. I could not do anythig for myself. When I was wheeled in I was greeted witha big smile from everyone. My nursing aide'salways made sure my call bell was under my hand. I cold move my fingers and call for help. My bells were answered quickly. The CNA's and nurses would actually scratch my itches for me, they helped me blow my nose and kept offering me drinks because I could not bring my straw to my mouth. They assisted me with my personal care and bathroom needs. All of this was done without causing me pain or embarassment. It is very humiliating to be in that position but no staff member ever made me feel humiliated. They cheered me on for my accomplikshments. The NP worked with me to control my pain and blood sugar. She listened to me. The speech therapist helped me with an issue I had for a few months that is now nothing but a bad memory. My occupational/speech therrapist worked me up to feeding myself and getting in/out of bed on
on my own. I was at the point where I coujld spend my day on the laptop playing my games..The housekeeper came in everyday and asked how my room mate and I were doing. the rooms were very clean. When I went out in the halls with mhy therapist to walk or go to the gym I never smelled urine. As an RN I did assessments for the long trm care program for the state. I can't tell you how awfuk some places smell. I never smelled anything bad while at the Grove. The food was great. I was on a puree diet for a time. I do not understand how they made puree taste so good. When my husband would drop something off for me, concierge brought it right into my room and assited me in opening my package. I hope I did not forget anyone. Overall I love The Grove. The whole staff is amazing. I highly reccomend it to everyone. I have been an insulin dependent diabetic since 1980 and an RN since 1990. I have just about spent equal time on both sides of the bed so I consider myself a very good judge of qulikty of care. Every department provides great care to their patioents.

I had a really excellent experience at this facility. The staff were wonderful. My nurses Jonathan, Cristina and Mary were very attentive to my personal needs and preferences. They were patient and non-rushed with their time and care. My nursing aids, Rebecca, Chevy, Bailey, Joyce and Suzette were all terrific.
I was here for a total of 5 weeks, after shortly being at another rehab center. Can’t even compare the two. The Grove is a beautiful, friendly and warm place. So thankful to all the beautiful staff who made my stay EXCELLENT!

I hope to never get sick again but if I do The Grove will be my preferred place to recover and get well. I came here after abdominal surgery and was here for a total of 4 weeks. Claire and Regina my physical therapist worked wonders with me. They have a great rehab team. Marie and Abdul stood out from all the nurses, but overall all the staff are really good. The administration and concierge departments were very involved in my stay, assuring I received the best experience. The facility is recently renovated and it's BEAUTIFUL, I did not feel like I was in a medical rehab institution. I felt like I was in a hotel. Thank Gd I'm string enough and recovered so I can return home happy and confident. Absolutely recommend this place for anyone in need of rehab.

I've been a patient twice at The Grove and there are a lot of wonderful things to share about this facility:
The rehab program was great! 5 Stars for rehab. My therapists Angela and Frank and the others were nice and caring, they understood my needs and worked on an individual program and exercise regiments. They listened to me and were sympathetic and very supportive.
My social worker Austin was nice and understanding. He was there throughout my stay helping with whatever was needed.
Veronica the finance coordinator was always so pleasant and professional.
Overall the nursing snd medical care was excellent! Gloria my NP was on top of my condition and always updating me with any changes and progress. except for a few aides who could have been friendlier, most of them were really good and kind. I give them a 4 star.
The grounds are beautiful and the facility is gorgeous and clean. The receptionist were always smiling.
I loved the recreational activities, never missed an opportunity to join.
Bridget my concierge was a doll! Constantly checked in with me and would address all of my concerns. She really cared, always with a smile.
I hope to never have to need sub-acute rehab again, but if do, I would definitely return to The Grove. Thank you to all the lovely staff for healing me twice!
Gideon Raz
I, Gideon was a patient here for about 5 weeks. The time past so fast, it was enjoyable. My room was very nice, my unit was beautifully renovated. The staff took good care of me. They were very patient and polite. My nurses Adjoah and Darlene were extremely kind. The therapy and exercises were fantastic, they have an excellent rehab department. I enjoyed participating in some of the recreational/religious activities and they would encourage me to join more but I preferred generally staying in my room and watching TV. At times I felt a little bored, but that was my choice to not participate as much as i could have. They noticed and try to engage me. This was my first time at a rehab/nursing center and was very surprised that I had this good of an experience. So thankful to all the staff at The Grove!
George Strelakos
I was here twice in the past year for short term rehab. The Grove is a beautiful place and the staff are very nice, attentive and polite. My therapists Lloyd, Wesley, Paltel and Josh were very good! The rehab sessions were exclusively tailored to my needs. The nursing staff were very cheerful. for institution food, I was very impressed. So grateful to all the wonderful staff who helped me fully recover, twice. I recommend The Grove for all those in need of short term rehab.

My mom spent six weeks at The Grove following a stroke at the end of June 2018. Her symptoms were much more cognitive than physical. Her pre-existing dementia was worsened exorbitantly, and was suddenly sun downing very badly. All of this meant she required much more attention than the average rehab patient.
She was given love and support by a wonderful staff of nurses and aides throughout the day, who tried to lessen her fears when I could not be there.
The full recreation program kept her busy and smiling all week long. Music being something that was very soothing for her, there were live music performances several times a week which helped her smile more.
The Grove is beautifully decorated and even smells good! I formed relationships even with the wonderful women and men who greeted me at the front desk every day.
The physical therapy staff worked hard to make her strong, and had unending patience with her.
The people at The Grove made my mom feel like a rock star. (Mom was able to get her hair done every week in the on site salon!) Everyone knew her name, and they all treated her with compassion, kindness and humor.
I could not recommend The Grove more for your rehabilitation needs.
Angie Gilyard
The receptionist greeted us with a smile and the nurses gives our loved one great care.
Cynthia R. Cole
I came to The Grove for rehabilitation on my leg after having Edema and my experience was outstanding. The staff is so warm and friendly I made so many new friends here. The therapy I received was excellent with a gym that is spacious and full of life.
The concierge was excellent and very courteous. I highly recommend to send a loved one here!
Natasha Rivers
My month stay at The Grove was pleasurable and beneficial. I'm taking home a menu, when I return home tomorrow. The food is that good. I loved my therapist Doreen and the nurse's assistant, Tamara. These wonderful girls went above and beyond. Serving me coffee at anytime in the day I wished. I'm happy to be going home tomorrow in much stronger and better condition. Thank you to all the caring staff who made my stay very comfortable and enjoyable.

My Mom suffered a fall and we found ourselves scrambling in unfamiliar territory on what to do next. Not really knowing what to do we selected a rehab center and after a week realized that the setting felt like a hospital and the residents ate their meals in their room.
We quickly realized that we should of went with The Grove as our first choice. On the first day we saw an immediate change in my Mom's demeanor. She was much more positive and eager to get through rehab. In the beginning it was tough. My Mom lived on her own for 71 years and for the first time she was some place else.
Besides the fact that the rooms were new and the outside surroundings were relaxing we found that The Grove encouraged socialization. They encouraged the patients to eat in a cafeteria setting v. in their rooms. My mom looked forward to the rehab sessions and could not stop talking about the staff. She would say" They really worked me hard but in the same breath she would say they were really nice."
At the end of her rehab she made a new network of friends that she still remains in contact with. She is much stronger and learned the proper way to do her daily functions that most of us take for granted.
My only criticism is that they could definitely use more aids. We found the weekend staffing to be minimal and initially before my mom was able to get out of the bed on her own she would at times wait as much 30 minutes for assistance. During the week there was better structure and the wait times were less.
Overall we feel comfortable recommending The Grove. We found that the staff was attentive to my Mom and the rehab was exceptional.

The Grove was a great place to rehab. I arrived from WCMC with a new hip, due to a fractured femur, fractured pelvis and rib, and other problems caused by a motorcycle accident. Upon arrival I was unable to move without pain. Within a few days they had me able to make it to the bathroom with assistance and soon after by myself. What a relief that was. My special thanks to the personal care aids, who cared for me when I was most vulnerable and could do nothing for myself. What a gift! Physical therapy gave me the confidence and support to begin walking again. I liked the fact that our meals were not only good but arrived on real plates with real utensils. Everyone at the Grove did their best to make my 28 days there as comfortable as possible. My wife took comfort in knowing that I was well cared for, especially being 3 hours away and unable to visit due to Covid-19.
Carolyn Lord
Spent 2 months plus at the grove. I felt like I was on vacation. I had therapy in the beautiful gardens every morning with Sandra and Doreen. They were wonderful. I loved Latoya, Jonathan and Sarah they were my nurses and did every thing possible to make me comfortable. I made some great friend while there and we still keep in touch. I really enjoyed their activities, especially Family Sunday, we gathered where me and my new friends would gather for delicious pastry and coffee. My favorite ,however, was the painting class..only complaint I had was the food, and Arri is working on that. Should I have to go to a rehab or nursing facility I would definitely go back to the Grove.

My 86-year old mother was admitted to The Grove in Valhalla earlier this month for sub-acute rehab and spent about two (2) weeks in the facility. The evening she arrived she was visited and welcomed by the nursing staff, physical therapy staff and recreation staff. The staff, and even the administrators, quickly got to know her by name and always had a smile for her and were quick to offer a helping hand. The physical therapy she received was fabulous. They worked on her broken wrists but also helped with her overall balance and physical well being. She even joined in the recreation activities and attended Mass. We could not have asked for better care for her! I would highly recommend The Grove at Valhalla to everyone I know.
JoAnne Maluk
Just left The Grove... staff are absolutely wonderful, nursing staff are caring and kind, I can’t say enough of their rehab department, excellent! The facility is kept impeccably clean. I was here for about two months and don’t have anything negative to say (the food was decent enough and a few mild, brief unpleasant interactions with a staff member or two, but otherwise, all the staff are great and have only pleasant things to share).
I left at almost 100% better.
Thank you Grove for the care and pleasant stay!
David Cusick
My mom stayed there for about a month after hip surgery. The staff was very friendly and competent. She also made friends which was nice given it was a relatively short stay. The place itself is very clean and beautifully designed which is nice for the patients but make visiting much more welcoming as well. Even the teenage grandchildren were impressed.

I went to Phelps Hospital and found out I had a fractured pelvis and sacrum. One of my requirements for rehab was an excellent PT department and a facility that can give me my second vaccine shot. There were three facilities that fit the bill and I picked the grove. The previous reviews I read stated that there was in fact a good PT department.
The CNA’s were terrific and very accommodating, the nurses were great, the care from the PT and OT was outstanding.
Shanakay, Idelia and Maxine were my aides that took excellent care of me, I felt like I bonded with them.
The decor is beautiful and well decorated.
We worked together as a team to accomplish my goals. I can now walk with a Walker, shortly to progress to a cane and can now do all my self care like washing, dressing and making my bed.
They also arranged for CVS to administer my second vaccine shot for me!
If you or a loved one want excellent rehabilitative care and feel safe with the nursing care, go to the grove!
Anthony Cerrato
My father was at the Grove for both rehabilitation after a stroke and for respite care. The staff for physical rehab and nursing are excellent. The administrative staff is very helpful and accommodating. They provided him with very good care and always make him feel welcomed when he returns. After the renovations to the rooms and hallways, the place looks 100 times better.

THANK YOU TO THE GROVE! We just discharged our 83 yr old family member after an extended rehabilitation (close to 70 days?!) There are SO many wonderful aspects to this facility that must not be missed:
1. The location is convenient from a couple of major highways
2. The grounds are just lovely Winter and Spring (we have no doubt Summer and Fall are as glorious)
3. The entrance, meeting rooms and patient rooms are clean, modern, large and comfortable.
4. The staff - from Concierge to Nurses to aides to Social Workers to the entire PT and OT departments are superb!
5. The facility and floors are accessible at all times (if needed) so you can visit your loved one when it is convenient for you!
I cannot say enough good things about The Grove and I recommend it for your loved one.

I've had great experience working at the grove for almost a year. I truly enjoyed working in the dietary kitchen department. I worked well with many of the other staff and the administration. For personal reasons I decided to go else where. I was very fortunate to service the residents and provide them with nutritious and delicious food. The administration work really hard to advance the performance and services of the facility. I've witnessed much growth and positive changes. I'm very glad to have known and worked with these people. A great work environment. Wishing all the residents, families and staff only happiness, healing and blessings!
Love,
Jan

Coming here from the hospital, I was a little apprehensive because the only experience I had with rehab was with my parents and in laws years ago and they were always ok but I wished I would never have to be in such a state. I broke my leg and got a blood clot in my lungs and I had emergency surgery. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks. We picked this place, my daughter came for a tour and she was very impressed. From the moment I got here, I saw how the staff really cared for everyone. They really get to know the patients. The care was excellent and very thorough. My nurse Paula was exceptional. Always ready with my meds in the morning. The rehab I received was excellent. Jerry and Akeem were my Physical Therapists and they were so patient with me. They never pushed me or made me do things that I wasn’t able to do, but they were very encouraging. Very consistent with the therapy and they got me walking again! When I got here, I couldn’t stand or put any weight on my legs and now I’m walking! The food was good, the place is clean, and the staff is very attentive and so friendly ! If anyone that I know needed the same care that I needed I would definitely recommend this place.
Jose Contteras
I've been a patient here for 2 months and I'm very satisfied and pleased with the services provided. I've made good progress in therapy and continue to get better and stronger every day. The nursing staff are nice and sensitive to all my needs! The staff are very responsive to my requests and promptly address all my concerns and preferences.

I came to the grove after a total hip replacement. There were great reviews so I decided to come here. The reviews didn't lie! I was treated like family here. They took great safety measures to keep us all safe during Covid. Not once did I feel unsafe. The CNA's and nurses were so kind to me. Rehab worked together with me to build my strength back up, I'm going to miss Akeem my Physical Therapist! He is outstanding! Thank you thank you team grove!
Andrew Sherwood
The staff were helpful and friendly. Adjoa my nurse was so patient and pleasent, she was very accomodating. So was Darlene, the staff here over all are exceptional. My evening aid Millie continuesly would stop in to check on me. The staff were very accommodating to my personal needs, which was no easy task.
The entertainment was great and exciting. I was here for over 5 weeks and I did not feel like I was in a medical institution. The atmosphere is relaxing and had my own privacy, which greatly helped because I was younger than the average patient.
The regular staff new my routine and served my meals and medication on time. But the part time/weekend staff didn't have it down pat, but I realize this is understandable for the situation. It's just impossible to have consistently full time staff.
The Grove is not perfect, but for what a rehab experience can be it was really good. No major complaints, but they could use some improvement on the food.
Sincerely,
Andrew

My husband was at the Grove for approximately 7 weeks following extensive surgery. The medical staff was very attentive to his needs and worked hard to tailor their treatment to his specific conditions. The rehab staff was extraordinary in their diligence, patience and support in getting him back on his feet. The facilities are bright, airy and well maintained, and they provide many activities to keep their clients active and involved. I highly recommend the Grove for anyone seeking rehabilitation in a safe and nurturing environment.

We were greeted by Wesley, and began the screening process to visit my brother. My husband is a former patient and the staff were warm and caring towards him. Esther escorted us to my brother's room for the visit. I need to add that the nurse administering the COVID-19 Test was so gentle. We are looking forward to returning for another visit soon.

I came to The Grove for rehab after being in the hospital with COVID. I started out with a hoyer, could not move my legs, and needed a lot of help getting around. I worked with rehab to strengthen my legs and to learn how to balance, the rehab team was very good and they were so kind to me. The nurses, CNA’s, Sarah, Aaron, Sonya, Marie and Austin were so helpful and instrumental in expediting my rehab journey. I would highly recommend The Grove to anyone who is in need of skilled nursing and rehab services!

Our father, Ajit Kr. Chatterjee got discharged recently last week after about 3 and half months of stay as a resident. He did feel like being a resident there and not a patient. That's the best feeling one can have away from home. The excellent rehab, caring nursing and aide care staff, comprehensive compassionate physician advice, nutritious and clean diet from the kitchen team, great hospitality and front desk team, courteous cleaning staff all supported him well (both physically and emotionally). A wonderful short term and long term care skilled nursing facility and rehab, He was sad to leave the place and keeps talking about the center and the staff. His previous stay there in 2014 for about six weeks was great,
The recent renovations makes the place look great, though there were problems during the renovation period that were a little unpleasant but the staff tried to address them well and promptly. Being a doctor, seeing our father recover there well, I highly recommend this center. Our father and family is thankful to the entire team. We wish the staff and residents the very best.

It was like dropping my kids off when they first started school...the hope that the teachers , staff and anyone who would be dealing with my children would treat them as if they were their own. My mother came home from the Grove rehabilitation center today and it was bitter sweet because we became so connected with the staff that cared for my mom all because they did treat her as if she was their own. Everyone was looking out for one another ,truly a family atmosphere. There is nothing more comforting to know that you can leave your loved one in good hands. Everyone was so thoughtful, caring and compassionate. You really have to have a calling to do this line of work. It was a pleasure to have met them and appreciative for all they have done to make a stressful situation less stressful. God bless them all!

Where do I begin. I am writing this review on behalf of patient CS who is being discharged today after a five month stay. The staff has been nothing short of Exceptional! They truly care about every single patient and their family. In the midst of this pandemic, you would think things are not going to run smoothly. That’s not the case at The Grove at Valhalla. They handled everything with perfection! Coming from a background in Heath CareI am familiar with Nursing Rehab Centers. This place surpasses all! Staring with the leadership here Ari and Aaron are the Administrators. There professionalism is outstanding. The nursing staff, led by Arnay, hope I spelled her name correctly, is exceptionally outstanding. I received constant medical updates on the patient, sometimes without even asking. The rehab team has done extraordinary work. I need to recognize Claire who is awesome and assisted me with getting all the home supplies that will be needed. The finance liaison Veronica has been superb. She assisted me with very small detail and with legal documents as well. The clinical coordinator Elizabeth, actually an old friend when I was in healthcare, was outstanding! She coordinated appointments, transportation, surgical appts with professionalism and care. The front desk staff has been truly polite, courteous and always answer the phone with pride! The admission staff staring with Julie were so helpful and instrumental in getting things coordinated for the patients Original arrival. I am saving this last gentleman until the end, not because he wasn’t as great as the others but because I could write plenty about him. The Social Worker assigned to the patient was Austin! What an amazing human being! This man takes his job seriously and does it with outstanding Professionalism, Courtesy and most of all Respect. Austin has guided me through many of the details that needed to be addressed. He is a GEM!
In closing, I must tell everyone reading this the following. If you are searching for a rehab facility or a Skilled Nursing Care Center look no further! Your loved one will be in the most amazing, profesional, respectful hands you can ask for. Thank you to everyone at The Grove at Valhalla. You have made my friend CS so comfortable and assisted her in an outstanding manner. You are all true profesionales and the epitome of the term HEALTHCARE HEROS!

I finally was able to see my aunt today . My father and I have been going once a week before the pandemic. Well the staff was wonderful today , they were so organized. The rapid covid test was easy peasy ( I haven’t had one) they took all precautions. I was so impressed with the new technology it’s takes your temperature plus you punch in your info and you can just nod your head to answer questions, pretty cool.
Loved seeing everyone. Hope to be back to my weekly visits
Thank you 🙏🏻

Wonderful place to recover and be renewed in body and spirit. Staff is caring, attentive and responsive. As a family member, peace of mind knowing mom was healing in a safe and nurturing environment. The Nurse Practitioner Gloria was extremely responsive, Kelly the physical therapist was fabulous and Sue from nursing staff was wonderful. Thank you for a truly memorable and healing experience!

These are the facts : In late September I was in a very serious pedestrian vehicle accident and suffered many injuries to my body. On October 18th, I arrived on a stretcher to the Grove from a family friend recommendation. On November 22, with the help of an elbow crutch I was able to walk out of the Grove to my wife's car that would drive me home. I wouldn't have been able to do it without the people at the Grove in Valhalla.....
These are the details: When I arrived at the Grove in Valhalla, although lying on a stretcher I could tell the facility was modern, clean and well kept. The lobby was impressive and I thought I was in a hotel. I was immediately greeted by a warm and friendly staff. My room was clean and had a beautiful large window that displayed signs of the seasons changing. Soon after I was greeted by Ari L. the senior administrator of the Grove. Ari, in true gentleman and compassionate fashion said to me.... "Not to worry we are going to take care of you! "Whatever you need we will help you with." He was right from the start and kept his promise till my very last day. I remember needing a bigger bed the first day and without any hesitation Ari was able to get me a bigger bed within the hr.
He would always check up on me throughout my stay to see if things were going smoothly.
The nurses and aids at the Grove are truly amazing! They extended great care to me and I could see that the extension of care was for all of their patients. A few names that stick in my mind are Marie, Sarah, Ruby & Jonathan. They were fabulous.
Although I needed the care and help of the nurses to help me with my healing, I was heavily focused on my rehab. I had a goal in mind... I wanted to walk again and I wanted to be home for Thanksgiving! The Grove has a beautiful clean and modern Rehab Gym. It gets busy but the motivation there is self stimulating!
The therapists at the Grove are truly amazing. I liked the fact that the supervisor kept me in a 3 team (therapist) rotation. My first encounter with a therapist at the Grove was with a gentleman named Chuck. I could tell from the get go that he was knowledgable and motivating. He had a compassionate side to him that you could tell from the first time you meet him. He is a guy who has a tough time saying no and I could see that his willingness to help out everyone including all of his co-workers is one of his great characteristics. Another great therapist was Hakeem! Hakeem had a wonderful way to understand the moment and make you see the bigger picture. He let you see the light at the tunnel quickly and was always so encouraging. His training speaks for itself, he is well versed in using different techniques to stimulate muscles and to rehabilitate the body. Finally there is Jerry! Jerry added the competitive nature and the comic relief that one needs to rehab. He has a very funny personality and we connected through many topics including sports, music and of course jokes. He likes many of the Philadelphia based sports teams but I didn't hold that against him LOL!
I will never forget Halloween Day I was really feeling down mentally and missing my children. The day started out like one of those days that you want to forget, but I will remember it forever. Jerry saw that at I was down and it was still early in my rehab to the point that I wasn't even standing up yet. That day at the end of my exercise session with him, Jerry said to me... "Come on man it's time to stand up!" and with his instruction and motivation I stood up for the first time in 1.5 months.
A big smile replaced the tears and sadness on my face!
I will never forget that day it was like the turning point in my rehabilitation.
This is my experience of the Grove!
Claudia Giordano
The Grove is filled with warm and caring staff in a bucolic setting that allows a patient to recuperate and recover in their own time. The therapists tailor each patients individual therapy to their specific needs. Families are welcome and the overall atmosphere is very inviting.
Carla Rutledge
Everyone at The Grove are extremely helpful, caring and professional!

My husband, Thomas Williams, was a resident of the Grove for 2 weeks before his passing on April 28, 2020 from pneumonia and respiratory failure. I want to express my gratitude to Ari and the staff that took care of my husband who also suffered from dementia. Unfortunately, he couldn't participate in any therapy or activities at the Grove because he became too sick and ultimately died. I appreciate all those who were going to work with him: medical staff, social workers, therapists, recreation directors and dieticians. You called me personally and introduced yourselves which was a good feeling. Also, thanks so much for the fruit basket I received and also to Ari who offered his condolences over the phone. We all miss Tom terribly. On behalf of our son, our family and myself, God bless you all.

Excellent place for rehabilitation. Beautiful grounds and facility with an awesome recreational team Mangers on the unit were knowledgeable and caring as was Ari the administrator Ari’s office extended well beyond 4 walls to all residents of the facility. He also was very kind, caring, and, Support. I enjoyed my time at the Grove and felt in good hands recovering at The Grove in Valhalla.

After several stays in a hospital my wife was referred to the "The Grove in Valhalla" rehab to get her balance and strength back.Reluctant at first she found it to be a very positive experience. From the administrator Aron Levy on down the staff was very friendly and could not do enough for her. The nurses are very professional and patient. Special thanks to the physical therapist Shirley who helped her get back on her feet again
and Latoya who saved her with the Heimlich manoeuver while she was choking. Thanks for all the help she got and I can only recommend "The Grove in Valhalla"

My husband stayed here for the last two months and they treated him with great respect and compassion. They catered to all our needs, but a supervisor is needed to make the experience even better and to make sure all the Aids are being as respecful and conscious as possible.

My mother has bee at The Grove for about 3 weeks, the place is clean and has good sunlight in the rooms, the food is ok, one of my concerns is that my mother is a diabetic and shes supposed to be on a specific diet but here she eats the same foods the other residents eat, foods like too much pasta, mashed potatoes, sweet chicken, cakes can spike up her blood sugar levels, another concern is that my mother tells me that when I’m not here visiting her the some of the nurses don’t really check up on her as often as they do when I’m here I visit my mom in the evening hours 4pm to about 7pm I stay with her, she tells me there was an occasion where she was in the bathroom and she needed help to get back to her bed and no one came even after she was yelling out for help, there was another occasion where I was in the lounge area and one of the nurse lights went off I saw 3 nurses walk by the patients room and didn’t even bother to check up on this patient there was also a nurse sitting on the cart right in front of the room she didn’t even bother to get up, there has been multiple times where I have to go to the kitchen and ask where’s my mothers diner it takes them forever to bring it by the time she gets it her food is cold and not even 20 mins after bringing it they come to take the plate away, some of these nurses I’ve notice do their job with an attitude no offense to the rest of the staff but if you can’t be respectful of your patients maybe this isn’t the job for you, some of these nurses and staff members need to be trained better in people skills.

The people who work here are fantastic and friendly, especially Rudy my night aide. The rehab was 10 out of 10. I had a full recovery and it was all thanks to their hard work. The concierge is a talented musician with a great personality who will go far.

My husband was transferred from the Bronx VA to The Grove at Valhalla Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for rehab after a total knee replacement. I was very impressed first by how beautiful the facility is to the friendliness of the staff. I especially like the check in procedure which issues you a photo visitor badge and also that they do rapid Covid testing on the visitors, I am looking forward to see how the rehab dept works and am optimistic that they will help my husband make a speedy recovery. So far I am very impressed.
