Reviews of The Ambassador of Scarsdale

My dad lived here and passed away in 2019. I am upset by the few negative reviews. The place is beautiful, clean and bright (most assisted living places are depressing/not newly decorated) and the food was really quite good (I even joined him sometimes). In addition, the staff was outstanding when my dad needed more help. This quality of care does not come cheap. People really shouldn't even comment about cost. You get what you pay for. Anyone with elderly parents knows that. Thank you Ambassador. I surely miss my dad.

The Ambassador of Scarsdale has been a wonderful place for my mother. Sarah who is the Director of the Keepsake Unit has a special gift. She is ver professional, kind and gentle. She understands that transitioning a loved one to an assisted living facility is very hard. Not only is Sarah great the entire staff so far has gone above and beyond to help my mother acclimate to her new home. The place is spotless, the food is great, the nurses check my mom every 20 minutes throughout the night while she sleeps. I cannot say enough positive things about The Ambassador. We are very grateful to have a facility like this in the area.

My parents moved into The Ambassador of Scarsdale 7 months ago, and are very happy there. What could have been a difficult transition was eased by the caring, respectful and attentive staff. From the administrative leadership throughout the whole onsite staff, there is a professional and personal approach to meeting the needs of the residents. I believe they truly care, and have the experience and intelligence to help people feel at home. The facilities are excellent- clean, comfortable and welcoming. The amenities are well planned and the services are first class. The fact that the Ambassador is a fully licensed facility gives peace of mind, and the physical therapy programs that are targeted to individual needs are effective. I couldn't find a better place for my parents, we are all happy with the decision to move there.

My name is Richard Russo and I am a professional in this industry and own a local company that assists families in find assisted living and dementia living communities. We have worked with The Ambassador since its opening and have helped place many seniors as residents. They have an "enhanced assisted living licence" which allows them to offer a very high level of care.
The team that Jean Dunphy, their President / Executive Director has in place is excellent. They all have extensive experience / background in this industry as many have worked with Jean for several years prior to joining The Ambassador. They do a great job!
We check in with families after placement as part of our follow up procedures. We receive very good feedback from families as to their experiences.
You should feel very comfortable in choosing The Ambassador as your assisted living community.

My mother moved in to the Ambassador back in September 2015, it has been a wonderful experience. We looked around at several assisted homes in the area and by far the Ambassador was the best place for our mom. The support that my family and I have received has been top notch. The staff is very friendly and understands my mother's needs. Overall the attention and services that my mother is getting exceeds our expectations.

My aunt recently moved in the Ambassador and my only regret is that I did not find them sooner. I toured many Facilities and the Ambassador felt like home the minute we walked in. The concierge is warm and welcoming. The building is that of a 5 star hotel, elegant and luxurious. The wellness staff is very attentive, especially Jennifer and Claire who are very caring to my aunt and the other residents. The nurses are great and accommodate all request. The food is five star and every meal I have attended has been delicous. I urge anyone looking for a assited living to make this their first stop. You will not be disappointed.

My parents recently moved to the Ambassador Scarsdale. It was a very difficult process for them and us. They required specific attention along with careful planning. The ordeal of moving was insurmountable to them. We were extremely impressed by the professional attitudes and attention to detail exhibited by The Ambassador Staff. Their assessment of my parent’s needs and subsequent execution of their care planning needs was impressive. Seldom does one see efficiency coupled with empathy and a fundamental understanding of the challenges of aging. Their Nurse Practitioner was extremely impressive. The Ambassador Scarsdale certainly gets it. Relieved, happy and well pleased with their experienced staff and kindness.

The Ambassador of Scarsdale was the answer to our prayers. I am so grateful to everyone at The Ambassador for taking such good care of my wonderful mom!
My mother lived alone in Florida for many years after my father passed away. Last year, we became concerned about her living by herself more than 1,000 miles away from us and worry, bordering on panic, began to set in. My friend told me about an evening she had spent at The Ambassador and I called on a whim. I spoke with Jean Dunphy. She kindly said I could come over after work and we talked and talked and talked although it was late. Not once did she look at the clock. Her kindness and compassion, sensitivity and knowledge were beyond exceptional. She really listened to my concerns and understood my anxieties.
Well, I don’t have those anxieties anymore. My mother has been a resident at The Ambassador since before Thanksgiving. She is so happy and you can only imagine how happy her family is!
I wish I could name every single person individually who has made this transition seamless and comforting for my mother, but I’d like to mention just a few who I have come to know. Jean is truly a gem and I will forever be grateful to her for helping me understand and frame this new time in our family dynamic. I have come to learn that she was right in everything she said! I met Kathy in the Fall at the Alzheimer’s Walk in White Plains and we connected immediately. Arlinda was so very helpful and kind to us in organizing mom’s transition to The Ambassador. Linda, with her boundless energy and effervescent enthusiasm makes each day full and interesting. My mom is participating in and enjoying all the varied programs and activities. Shannon is so sweet and goes out of her way to check on my mom. Joshy has been so compassionate and understanding in helping us navigate this new time in our lives.
From the moment I walked into The Ambassador I was taken by the beauty and serenity of the building and the grounds. Obviously, a tremendous amount of thought and care went into the impeccable design and every detail was taken into account. But more important than the look and charm of a place is the quality of the people who work there. Each and every one of their staff has been warm, welcoming and responsive, not just to my mother, but to our whole family.
I am so grateful that The Ambassador has created an excellent new home for my mother.

My parents moved into The Ambassador’s Assisted Living two months ago, and so far my family is very pleased with the care and services they’ve received. For our parents who are unable to live independently anymore, the Ambassador seems to be a very good choice.
Management: The Ambassador’s professional care management team seems incented to provide high-quality care and services. They are hands-on, accessible, responsive and flexible for our needs. Their assessments of my parents’ care needs, set-up and ongoing delivery have been excellent. They show empathy and a deep understanding of aging.
Size: In comparison to larger, more bureaucratic institutions in the area, the Ambassador is a moderate size – which is better for offering an intimate and personal touch (management greets most residents by name). The physical layout is logical and manageable.
Meals: the food is wonderful; excellent taste and healthy, balanced nutrition. The serving staff are wonderfully caring; just genuinely nice people.
Staff: the vast majority of the staff (nurses, aides, cleaning, concierge, social, PT, maintenance, security and other support) seem sincere, kind and dedicated.
Activities: A reasonable amount of diverse activities for the residents.
Facility: A new building with high quality construction, design and upkeep. Well-lit, comfortable climate.
Are there problems in providing care for an elderly population? Sure. The high costs of being in Westchester County. The occasional social kerfluffle or minor misunderstanding, but nothing major.
NET: Overall, based on the numerous positive factors discussed above, I highly recommend the Ambassador.

My wife and I recently visited the Ambassador at their open house. It is the best Assisted Living option seen in a long time. Elegant furnishing, superb common area layout with many activities for the residents. Long walking trails in secured Garden setting. Great dining experience in style.Friendly and professional staff. A perfect choice to live a healthy life-style in luxury.

As the dementia care coach for the team in Kindred, the memory care program, I would be remiss if I did not share this account with you! I am sure the spirit, the vibe, whatever was taking place, possibly even leaked into the rest of the assisted living building!
The afternoons, which have a reputation of being quite difficult in most dementia programs, was AMAZING in Kindred!!! The residents were all engaged, the staff were laughing, smiling, having a blast, Susan (activity director) and Eric (music therapist) were left with “less” to do because all the residents were so engaged with the staff in smaller activities. Shannon (art therapist) had her group and she too added to the fun. Families were hanging out (6 of them), two were sitting in the TV room cuddled next to each other in two chairs, one resident was sitting in a different “row” and an unlikely couple, even took a seat, as the Opera played on. Judy, the nurse, even stepped in at one point during Shannon’s art group as she observed and commented on the resident’s great pottery. There were no lines of job description, but a “village” of people who all just truly cared about each other and all things were accomplished. As dinner approached, no one was upset, no one screamed, no one paced anxiously; everyone just flowed to dinner! It was a nirvana of sorts, be assured!
From here, I headed to the family support group, one in which three of those families had just been part of the afternoon in Kindred. The six family members went on about how they really feel the staff have improved, have become kinder, more considerate, not joking with the residents, but loving and living with the residents, the families discussed their great appreciation and newfound great respect even for the staff; many of them having not come in contact with this working population before. We discussed other important life issues as well, but this same peace that Kindred created, filled the Crane Lounge. They are relieved, they are content, they love the other residents and the staff and each other; they are so grateful to have each other.
Then, I returned to Kindred to bring the leftover desserts and shared the families’ appreciation with the staff. They couldn’t have been happier. I gave them specific examples of things they have been taught and coached on, and pointed on their success to them. They were glowing! They felt free and empowered – a position we have aspired for them to take, as this will only benefit the residents. They really appreciate Susan’s work and Eric’s. They are grateful for how their team has matured and I think they are ready to hit the next level.
As was once said to me, I have shared with Sarah (program director), the marks of a great leader, manager, are evidenced when things are running as they should and the manager doesn’t have to “do anything” – cheers to Sarah and her leadership in creating a culture where all this is ABLE to take place!!!

Our mother has been at the Ambassador for over a year. More recently she has been spending days on Keepsake where she is also treated with great sensitivity and love. We could not ask for better care

My name is Fe. I am an experienced alzheimers/dementia caregiver for a long time and have worked in different settings. I can say that The Ambassador is a cut Above the rest in terms of ambience, staff, formal dining and entertainment that if given a chance I would say: all of the above, excellent. The list of activities they hand out everyday is something you don't want to miss: don't like sweating with your friends in workouts, then exercise your larynx in sing alongs, or be in current events discussion, or themed discussions that stir up emotions (no winner is declared, ever!). Interested in the ying and yang, then take up Tai Chi, yogalates or join us in meditations with the youthful and favorite guy, Matt. If you feel tired going around the beautiful gardens of the building, you can sit, sip cold or hot drinks in the Bistro and watch the tv. Scheduled programs are interesting or else watch a movie at the cinema, it shows great movies, old and current award winning movies. My favorite part of the schedule is whatever is attached or written at the back. The activity team leader who is very nice, energetic and beauteous, Linda Peters really make an effort to inform readers like me to know the important event of the day, and I am learning so much history! I didn't pay much attention to it in school, it was a ho hum to me but each page of history was presented in interesting genre that I read it from beginning to end then wondering if there's still more. Kudos!!! Love you guys.!!!!!!!
