One of the top pro shops for trumpeters in the world. Fair prices, top notch consulting and stock of the most enviable instruments and mouthpieces on the planet. Oh, did I mention sheet music and accessories too?

Thompson Music did an excellent job cleaning and repairing 2 used Bach Omega trombones for my son.

This is the place to go! Friendly & knowledgable: my son has two clarinets; one was adjusted on the spot with a small issue so he could continue to play it while the other is having it's yearly maintenance done. I highly recommend this business! They clearly know instruments and are very good at it!

Knowledgeable staff, terrific service and a fantastic selection of instruments, mouthpieces, mutes and other accessories. They've been my "go to" store for years.

The repair shop at Thompson Music is amazing! Dave is the best. He is incredibly attentive, professional and kind. There have been several repairs that he actually did for me right on the spot.. I am a Band director and professional musician so I appreciate Mike and Dave's attention to detail. I have had instruments that have come back from other music stores in town and had to take it Thompson to get them fixed right. Truly they are the best in town!

Mike Thompson and his crew have helped me out so many times I can't count. I have both purchased from them and sold used horns with them.
They are currently have my Scherzer B flat rotary trumpet for sale, SN#
26283, Mike and his staff are all trumpet players and know everything.
I have been a professional for many years in orchestras and my teachers are famous from the Chicago Symphony and I couldn't recommend anybody better. They have always come through. If they don't have it they can order it. I don't go anywhere else for trumpet stuff. This is
a GREAT trumpet and brass shop, they don't sell string stuff.

*I’m sorry if this review isn’t that good, it was so long that my google crashed and I have to start all over.*
This was the best instrument buying instrument I ever had. I came in just looking at trumpet planning to buy it years from now and came out with a trumpet with the help of Thompson Music. And it was the owner himself who helped me (and his name is Mike like mine!)
Trying out trumpets from the huge wall of hanging trumpets, I brought my own mouthpiece, but after trying my 4th trumpet, he went into the back room and gave me a custom made mouthpiece FREE OF CHARGE. It was given to him by a friend of his. Mike is the nicest and most helpful guy ever, and he knew I was only trying out trumpet and not buying anything. But he gave me that and a free mouthpiece case ABSOLUTELY FREE. You will NOT find this at a regular music store.
After getting the best customer service ever (he’s super funny), like literally ever he listened to my tone and gave me like 10 trumpets to play and didn’t get tired out by listening to me for 2 hours. We left and I thanked him for the free mouthpiece (had to cost at least more than $100) and as we drove away, we made a u-turn and came back, and I made my first payment on the trumpet Mike and the management team helped me pick out: a used S.E. Shires Custom Model A. The part of the experience I was dreading the most but DIDN’T get was hustling. There was none of that. In fact, they were super happy that I saved money on a used trumpet and even told me the price of a new one. I basically saved $1,400 for buying a used one. And he told me that. I will never experience this type of ahead-of-time price telling until I come back to Thompson Music. Thy are shipping the trumpet to my house because they need to do other things and I live far from Omaha, so I can’t pick it from the store. I can’t wait for my trumpet to come this Monday.
Final Thoughts: LOTS OF FREE STUFF (A Custom Made mouthpiece, mouthpiece case, valve oil soothing lip cream) great management, nice people not in a hurry or trying to hustle you. He also gave me a free lesson on riding the airstream to play notes over high C. GREAT SERVICE!!
10/5 stars easily. But I can’t do that so...

UPDATE: I checked the website and I shouldn’t have gotten a case with my trumpet. The store gave me a case for free. Wow.

It's great to have a shop in town that specializes in brass instruments. I've had several trombones repaired/modified by their technician Dave and have been impressed with the quality of the work he does every time. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff.

Nebraska of all places!!! Amazing (candy) shop that collects and specializes in brass (mainly trumpets and tenor trombones) for the professional and students moving to an intermediate level. Thanks Dave for the cleaning/repair of my Besson. You said the third valve slide would move like a trombone slide after you finished and it does. Thank you Jamie for your hospitality and patience. Mr. Thompson I thank you for sharing your knowledge and allowing me to try out the collection of both vintage and new innovative horns.

Dave, the instrument service / repair tech does a fantastic job! I had him clean up my trumpet and remove some dents. It looks wonderful. Definitely a great instrument repair person to go to in the omaha NE area!
