Reviews of Sam Ash Music Stores
Carolina Furió
My favorite music store in NYC! I always look for what I find. The people who work there are super friendly, they always have a good disposition and it is also good to know that they have used equipment in case you cannot buy the new ones. It’s a really big store with different rooms and instruments. I love it!!! My dogs are always welcome in the store too!
Pierre Quentin
Paradise on earth exists. Gentle, welcoming, available people, and so many guitars, accessories and instruments. And prices are ok too. Chairs available to enjoy , make some noise. Wanted to buy a Gator case, but was disrupted...definitely the equivalent of Strands for guitars ?
Miguel Garcia
The great variety of instruments, the fact that you can enter in different departments and play all the instruments to staff is very friendly and welcoming, especially Trinity. A representative of the store/ a sales person was very friendly and knowledgeable in her on right. She made the experience even more great making it easy to make a purchased. Thank you very much, Trinity. 👍🏾❤️🎸.
I definitely recommend Sam ash stores to everyone. Definitely will come back soon.

Everything I needed I got from this shop! It’s complete and service is great! Got an acoustic guitar, a guitar case, guitar stand, music stand, and a pop and rock instrumental solos book!
Max
Excellent selection with great a staff that leaves you alone to diddle and fiddle with all the guitars.....not like that other big name place where the sales people are always on your tip ...
Volt
The largest selection of digital pianos in Manhattan. Ask for Richard, very nice and friendly guy.
Derek Villorente
Huge selection of musical instruments especially electric and acoustic guitars. Good customer service.
Sabrina Merrick
Store is amazing. Very lively, colorful and vibrant. Zak helped me pick my first bass. I was very pleased with his services. Shop here for your musical needs!
Glenn Lorbecki
Great staff, extensive selection of GTRs, an excellent experience overall. Andy in the guitar department is knowledgeable and friendly, he worked with me to get a top quality used instrument at a good price. I am a happy camper!
Marcel Humes
Was there this past Nov. 23rd. I had called before going to verify they had what I needed. That call was excellent. They answered my questions as best they could without seeing my system. When I got to the store I was promptly aided by Marc Wasserman. I want to give him a special shout out. He was patient and perfectly professional in spite of 1 or 2 of my questions which were not well informed. All the pieces he suggested were up and running in 10 minutes when I brought them home. I love this store. I've been coming here for years and will always return. Surely, it's one of the best music production stores in the world!
Caesar Stovall
I am a newbie drummer. They have lots of kits set up that musicians can just play, and a semi room where drummers can test cymbal crashes. Crow is the best, listened carefully to my issue, watched what I was doing on a drum pad with a few exercises, and showed me how to correct it in my practice. Then, he sold me my new favorite drumsticks. This place is great.
OrangeK center
Fabulous in-store, hands-on experience!! Staff members are friendly, patient and very knowledgeable!!! My kids got free demo bows to try the violins, and much much more..... Feel at home and safe in the Manhattan superstore, worth a trip from anywhere!!
Tony Yee
Staff is very knowledgeable, tentive, friendly and helpful. As a consumer, felt good about our purchases and would most definitely go back. The inventory of equipment was great. Lots of cords not found in other stores.
Nicole Greevy
Excellent experience purchasing our latest guitar at Sam Ash. It was in stock, we were able to play it as long as we wanted and salesperson Andrew was a great help, reminding us to get a humidifier kit and persuasively making a case for adding on a 2 year Setup plan. Very pleased.
Kurt C
Excellent customer service. Trinity, the sales representative was knowledgeable and super helpful. The Manhattan location could be the best place to shop and trade/buy for a guitar in the city.
David Stone
Luis was super helpful with my daughter's first electric bass guitar purchase. Everyone at the store was patient and helpful even though we were definitely not high-end customers.
Albert Opraseuth
Pro-Audio department was extremely helpful, but upon exiting I asked the person who helped me if there was bathroom I could use. They said to speak the manager because I just dropped $500 on equipment they probably would let me.
So I walked up to the front of the store where I could find someone could help me. But the guy at the front of the store said they don’t have a bathroom said the person in Pro Audio was a liar. Then I fussed (of course), then the person at the front recanted (admitting that it was he who was the liar) but continued to be rude. This is and was the first and last time I’ll ever go to this Sam Ash or any other.
Heather Peterson
I went in to the store with a friend to pick up a souvenir and walked out with a keyboard. The staff was so generous, fun, and knowledgeable. Amore answered our questions and was so helpful! Thank you for a great experience.
Trevor Gregory Sikes
This place was great. Luis was amazing! Helped me swap some stuff out and was just overall an awesome dude. Customer service is stellar here—definitely going here again.
Shubham Agrawal
Sam ash music store was great. I went there for my flute repair, the guy was a genius. He looked at it, tightened something, and it was working again. He didn't even charge me anything!
R Simonds
Awesome store. They just tell you what you need. Save yourself 10 hours of searching on line and just talk to them. Bought the most awesome and perfect keyboard with their guidance.
Patrick Comas
Marc Wasserman was a wealth of information. He helped me with additional equipment for my home studio. I will be ordering more items from him. shipping was extremely fast. Thank you Marc
Joseph Lukasik
It's getting harder to find sax mouthpieces in NY... Especially ones to try. I stopped by the Manhattan store and Derec went the extra mile so I had everything I needed to play test. I ended up with an excellent used Sugal at a great price. Thanks again Sam Ash!
mark pringle
Nice friendly staff. Just had a good look around the store which I just happened across because, well, it's Sam Ash isn't it? (I'm from Europe). Excellent range of stock. Great to see stuff which I've only ever seen online/YouTube. Most of it seems teeny- minilogue synth, Akai MPC One etc. Really super shop.
Juan Ordonez
Very dedicated staff has helped me through a complex purchase involving delivery from one store to another and a perfect coordination to nail a narrow timeframe in which I was able to pick up my items. Dave Waintraub at central and and Luis at the Manhattan store on W34 st really went far to make it happen. Thanks guys!
mezzo forte
Famous and Iconic Musical Instrument Store.Huge location with sound rooms and every instrument possible.
Very friendly staff. Demonstrations available and hands on playing. All leads ,Microphones , Headphones etc ; etc .Open late .
Azhar Khan
Highly recommend Paul Blomstrom in the guitar repairs department at the Sam Ash in midtown Manhattan NYC for all your repairs &/or mods. He’s the best.
Saul Kaiserman
Knocking off a star because staff was misinformed about left handed ukulele playing - you can string any ukulele upside down, it does not need to be special ordered. Otherwise, an excellent choice for pretty much every kind of music need at reasonable prices
Liz Van Hoose
This store represents the best of NYC. Chris in tech helped me out of a jam with a violin and taught me a ton. The vibe here is love of music and all the people who make it.
David Isaacson
I mean its better than guitar center: more selection and better vibe. But stop wasting my timr trying to upsell me.. when I asked a question about 2 sub-300 dollar keyboards the salesman ignored it and tried to sell me a 1500 dollar one. Come on man thats obviously not what I'm looking for.
Lucia Regalbuto
The place was clean, all the guitars I picked up to try were all well tuned and had good strings on them. The customer service was also pretty great!
Nicole Volpa
The selection here is fantastic. They have more in stock to see than other local Sam Ash locations I've been to, but it is the NYC site and I usually only have New Jersey and Pennsylvania to choose from.
Having travel versions of instruments like ukelele and guitar was really great to see in person that I've never seen before, but also their percussion room. The selection just seems endless and if I didn't have a full 8 hours to walk around before a show, adding to my instrumental collection would be way too easy here. Staff was very helpful, and there's even a ramp for the couple of steps they had, which I really appreciate so everyone can maintain their musicianship needs.
Carli Brinkman
Luis our sales rep was awesome and so knowledgeable in helping us pick out the best first guitar for our young daughter.
Bruno Faria
Great store and really good buying experience. Dana helped me with all my questions and I felt really comfortable while trying out some guitars. He also guided me through the best options considering money to value, not just offering the most expensive ones.
The store offered me the initial setup and I came out with my guitar ready to go.
Mark Murphy
Really great shopping experience. I was helped select a guitar by a very knowledgeable salesman Sean.. I ended up with a Reverend guitar with a P90 pickup.. an absolute bargain at $799, guitar records exceptionally well.. better than my Les Paul back at home. I also grabbed a small controller keyboard and UAD interface from their Pro Audio debt, again very helpful. Internet prices with really helpful staff and great selection of stock.. highly recommended to all!!
Jesse Afriyie
I had a fantastic experience at Sam Ash. I was shopping for a wireless mic. Marc assisted me and I could not have asked for better customer service. Marc was extremely attentive, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. I had a lot of questions and Marc was patient and engaging through the whole process. He also took the time to get to know me alittle bit as musician so that he could offer guidance specifically tailored to my needs and goals. I’ve never experienced that kind of attentiveness before. Thank you Marc for your superb customer service. I highly recommend Sam Ash on 34th St and if you need help with pro audio, Marc is your guy!
carmen walsh
Took my Godin guitars and 12 string Burton to be reconditioned for performance. Spoke with Paul who understood what I needed to be done. Upon arriving with my gear Matthew was very attentive to my request. Left Do, Re and Mi (names of my guitars) to their expert care. Bought other guitar related items at the acoustic area and Andrew was also understanding of items I needed to purchase.
Onkar Inamdar
This place is the promised heaven for musicians. I went in just roaming in the streets of New York and was blown away by the amazing collection of musical instruments in the store. The staff was super courteous as well!!
Mauricio Atriz
great service !
I was trying a new guitar in a room, where another customer was playing very loud all his repertoire..., the associate noticed the situation right way and put me in another room by myself, I tried 5 different guitars and the associate insisted to bring more guitars for me to get the sound I was looking for.
I'm very please with my new guitar
thank you Sam Ash.
Cristian S
It’s a really nice store. The staff is friendly and welcoming, the guitars are always tuned and in a good condition, not greasy and gross like other guitar stores. Everytime I come in, I have a good experience. Thank you!
Michele kuslansky
I am a fitness instructor in NJ and I have worked with Sam Ash for years! Recently my local store in Paramus closed and I had to contact the Manhattan store and I’m so thankful I did! Mark Wessermen was such a great help to me and made it so easy to have my microphone replaced! I’m so grateful for him and his expertise. My order was filled with in days and I never had to even go to the store! Thank you Mark!!!
Cris Borgnine
Great staff we live in LA and have been going to Sam Ash for many years this location didn't disappoint!!! Each member was super helpful and made us feel welcome not like some other music stores like I've been in "GC" thanks for a great time Sam Ash!!!
Sam Sharifi
Visited the Manhattan location on 34th st. Did a trade in, sold my old guitar and purchased a new synth. Marc was very helpful in making the purchase. Also gave me a Sam Ash t-shirt. Thanks Marc and the rest of the staff.
SMOgamer 1100
Incredible! It is a huge store for any of your music instrument related needs! One of the pianos near the back said “Press here start demo” and I pressed it and it blasted music super loud and it fell over, which made it even better
5/5
Ashwin Srinivas
I can spend hours in this place without noticing time go by. The staff is super helpful and friendly too! They also have a really good collection of guitars.
Joey Sawyers
Helpful staff, even if I had to wait a bit and they ended up not having a bassoon for rental lol 😭
Edit: I've come back a 2nd time to talk about studio monitors, and the same woman who helped me previously also helped me with my questions about my new setup and got me some cables she personally recommended. (I called, her name is Lelaina!) (though I'm probably not spelling it correctly, sorry!)
I gotta say, she was nothing short of incredible both times I needed her help. Very knowledgeable, had real world experience when answering my questions, very professional and well-spoken. As a musician, I feel like customer service can be hit or miss at music stores; she absolutely knocks it out of the park.
David Scrivener
Brilliant music/pa store on 34th st manhattan, 25years ago since i lasted visited Sam Ash store when over here from UK which was then on 48th st, Manhattan, amazing place, staff are brilliant. Top store for all instruments/pa etc.
Ryan Barquilla
Great range of guitars which I found very easy to pick up and play unlike other guitar stores I've been to. Good stuff!
John Stepanian
Awesome experience. These guys know what they're doing. Needed a sound system for an event and they went above and beyond to help. Great people.
J G
Great friendly knowledgeable staff with a giant selection of instruments. Huge selection of guitars. It's a bit light on brass instruments and accessories though.
Ryan Corbey
Absolutely thorough shop. Grabbed a ukulele, soft case, strings, strap, AND the tech was able to install the buttons for the strap. Thanks again!
Treshaun Rogers
I always find music stores to be intimidating (it's something about the wide area of stuff that just strikes a chord in me (no pun indeed)), but everyone here was nice and there's a map that points specific locations within the store.
Lenora Byrnes
My visit at Sam Ash was very pleasant. The woman in the brass section was lovely and such a big help. Thank you. And thank you to the employees that gave me a good price for my horn. Will definitely go back again.
Ben A
Great customer service. I went here to buy my first 7 string and everyone was really nice and helpful.
Nichole Listeman
I walked into this store and immediately never wanted to leave. They have amazing demo space and a huge range of products. I found something way better than I was looking for, it was an amazing price, and they even shipped it back home to Detroit for me. Everyone on staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. If I'm ever in New York again, I'll be back for a bass.;)
Riad Miah
I've worked with Zack and Kareem on a few purchases. They are great sales people and altogether very knowledgeable.
charruas b
AWESOME!!!! GOOD SERVICE!!! GOOD PRICE!!!! NICE PEOPLE. WORKING IN,AND BEAUTIFULL LOCATION!!!!
Scott Shuster
Just wonderful. Every staff person so pleasant...they let my 10 year old son RUN RAMPANT trying every musical instrument he wanted, in every department (well we did not try brass or woodwinds but everything else for sure) and asking a million questions. Sam Ash is now an entertainment destination for him. I am seriously looking forward to our next visit, we had so much fun - !
Shawn Benjamin
Friendly support and easy to navigate the store supplied with everything you need. I recommend 👌 …
Raymundo Uffre
I dropped off my guitar to get the strings changed since there was fret buzz. I got it back in 2 days and it played better than when I first got it. Very polite employees. Definitely recommend.
Gissette Rey Aybar
great store with all the instruments and accessories you may need... best of all, excellent customer service! Thanks.
Eustace Gonzalves
This is a great musical store in NY and when ever I visit NY it's a must to this store just to browse and enjoy the vibes and look at pianos and drums which amaze me from the musical point
Jared Alessandroni
Don't want to gush here - but having a huge music store right in the middle of the city with a staff filled with actual musicians is one of the reasons I love the city. And, the selection is great because if you're going to sit there and obsess over whether Kawai or Yamaha has the best key feel, you want to have like several examples of each to be sure. Came in over two days (big purchase) and worked with the same dedicated and helpful team member - thanks Richard! Really appreciate it all and excited to have my setup set up at home!
Michael Krogh
Really big store 🏬 lots of guitars (and other stuff/instruments) nice staff 🇺🇸😊 …
Pedro Filipe Soares
Amazing store with everything, really everything you can need in the music bussiness. And in very good prices.
Hannie Tay
Super kind staff who not only let me play the digital piano for more than the usually allotted 10 minutes (time I needed to practice for a concert at home), but the guy also gave me some super-useful advice on my playing style. He made my week in New York extra special, so thank you again!! 🥰 …
Bobby C
Everyone was accommodating and very helpful. Always shop at Sam Ash Music !!!
Eric Witscher
Shopped at the Edison, New Jersey location. Very helpful and quick shipping! Awesome experience!
Jacquez Gordon
I'd like to thank Mr. Elias of the Sam Ash store on 34th Street, NY, for his assistance back on 5/10/22. I had come in with the intention to pick out a violin for my kid brother's birthday and had very little to go on as far as choosing the best option for him. But Elias was quite knowledgeable and informative on what I should look for in an instrument considering my brother's previous musical experience and his upcoming age. I walked out of there with a new violin, case, bow, practice mute and tuner. My brother's birthday was a couple days ago and he was stunned to see that an instrument he hadn't played in four years was now his to play whenever he wanted. Thank you, Elias once again for your assistance. I hope you're still there for my next purchase. Yes, I will be coming back two more times in the foreseeable future.
jeff constan
Andy the sales guy was great. He made sure you I got the right guitar for me.
Timothy Byrnes
I love Sam Ash. I always love visiting and picking up things for my basic needs.
RJ Zhou
It was a breeze to with Elias and Lee to sell my electric cello and accessories. Their professionalism, attentiveness, and patience made the experience a five-star.
Delfin Limcangco
It's a great music store. It's the way all Sam Ash stores should be.
Josue Martinez
Went there to buy a guitar pick, employees were very knowledgeable and friendly.
Rosner Parrales
I can't be impartial here, I have a soft spot for music stores and this is one of the coolest in NYC
Philip Morgan
I bought a drum machine from Marc for a special order. He was very thorough during the entire process and gave me updates during shipping.
Alexander Melo
Sam Ash has to be one of the best music stores in all of NYC. Andy was a very great help helping me buy my new Flea Jazz bass. All the staff here are willing to help and are very welcoming and nice to talk to. Would recommend this place over Guitar Center any day.
Gilbert Cruz (GeeCee)
Very easy, pleasant experience, the clerk at the woodwind section was very knowledgeable, taking her time..switching between Spanish and English assisting two customers..was helpful and answered my questions satisfactorily..Will deff shop there again..
Also recently went in to have my saxophone serviced, very courteous, professional and I felt very confident leaning my horn in their hands.Decent , fair repair charges and repair man knew his stuff;will certainly return when needed.
Jonathan Payuyo
Greeted at the door by staff, busy location but got what I needed in a couple mins. Good sales staff, purchased a Rickenbacker 4003 bass a while back from here.
steve stein
Great sales help. Had an issue with my shipment, not their fault, managers quickly resolved it and made for good for me! I'll be back soon!
Thierry Schlagdenhauffen
Such a disappointment… although the staff is quite knowledgeable, the shop looks like an empty memory of itself. Very few guitar brands, only one 12 strings if I recall correctly, few effects, nothing in the pro studio closet (call it booth if you want to use fancy vocabulary, but it is so small it is not a studio) apart from a dozen speakers. The guitar amp room contains less brands than my own music room (true).
I was looking forward to spend a few hours, but is looked so much like the place just opened (or is about to go out of business) that I just bought what I needed and left after 15 minutes.
Soon all musicians will have to go online to buy a cat in a bag, and when it is so, Sam Ash won’t be my first choice. I’d rather buy from Sw… whose website is clear and highly reliable.
Where is the reminiscence of Music Row? Sam Ash, please get yours together!
Andy Bullemor - Composer
I found this on my last day in NYC and was gutted I hadn't seen it sooner as it was practically next door to my hotel. But it was a great shop with really friendly staff and a great selection of instruments. I managed to pick up a guitar strap which still gets used today.
Michele Penilla
Dana was so helpful and didn’t put the rush on me even though the store was closing in 12 minutes. He had great advice, was personable, and I went home with a awesome guitar. I enjoyed my time at the store and look forward to going back throughout my stay here in NYC.
Sarah A
🥰🥰🥰🥰 found the perfect gift for my little sister here. Thank the Lord! Everyone here was super friendly, knowledgable and down to earth. They have a great selection, plus I noticed they also offer classes, books, accessories etc. Glad I turned my head to notice this shop! Highly recommend anyone to come here :3 …

I have shopped in many music stores, both private and national chains and I found none better than Sam Ash on West 34th St. in New York City! If you play guitar, the last thing you want to do is try out a new instrument with 30 guys around you all having fretboard envy incrementally turn amps up to spinal tap levels! That simply doesn’t happen at Sam Ash. The vibe you get the moment you walk to the door is one of the staff ready, willing and able to help you with any questions, comments or concerns that you may have. You feel welcome the moment you arrive.
Yesterday I purchased my second Taylor guitar at Sam Ash on West 34th St. and both times it was Andy in the acoustic department who assisted me. He is so knowledgeable, helpful, courteous and friendly. I knew exactly what I wanted when I walked through the door and although it wasn’t available in the store, he got on the phone to make sure that it would get to me in short order…they have earned a customer for life!
Henry Sidel
Sam Ash is a great store. A New York classic that we should all support. They have a huge selection of music equipment and stay current with the times. They also have old, valuable instruments. Great for accessories. Have had a clarinet repaired there twice very successfully. Great sales people too.
Eric Guido
Always my most trusted source when I need guidance to up my game, or for the kids (better musicians than me now). The 34th street location lives up to it's flagship designation, with an amazing staff, massive inventory, comfortable diggs and willingness to just let you "come in and play ". What more can you ask for? Is there really any better music store?
Geff Garnhart
Enjoyed trying out new synthesizer gear. Helpful staff - ready to engage.
Julian Gonzalez
Great place a big selection of musical instruments. I felt very welcomed.
Nick Israël
Knowledgeable folks, great environment to test out new instruments, price matching and good discounts
Kai-Hui Liang (Lesley)
There are a large varieties of instruments and accessories. I had fun exploring there. Service quality varies depend on sections. Some are good as other reviewers said, but some others are just okay. In general it is a good music store to visit
S H
Pleasant store, great experience! Lee in orchestral and band repairs and Zachary in guitars were knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Staff in general is great! Keep up the good work.
Kourtez
Great customer service. But layaway plan sucks. Thank GOD for Klarna
Roberto A. Morales
A great experience at Samash. I visit them ten years ago and yesterday I had the same good one. The staff is really supportive and kind.
Gordon Schonfeld
Great service, great products. Highly recommended.

Always the best! Shoutout to Eddie C in pro audio on 34th street. Greatest salesman from here to Timbuktu!! 👍 💯 …
Ed Brooking
Great great music store
They got it all as far as new gear
Lucas Petraglia Pérez
Magnificent service! Great selection and helpful staff! They prepared my guitar in record time and everything was perfect! Look for Daba at acoustic guitars!
Andreas Matthew Kristiansen
Had a great experience shopping there. Nice people and had a very friendly talk. The seller was understanding when there was a flaw on the vintage drum, and was willing to negotiate a better price.
Juvencio E. Gutierrez
The history and reputation of Sam Ash is truly amazing, I just got my new guitar and I love it. They went beyond any expectations to ensure that I got it on time and in perfect condition. I am very happy with the service and their service!!! They put The same dedication for online customers as with the in store!!
Frances
Generally kind and helpful staff but I would have been happier if there was more expertise in the recording equipment. I was told certain audio devices “don’t work with ipads” that are designed specifically for exactly that use (Scarlett solo). When I asked about alternatives after my initial purchase failed to work (I think faulty, not a compatibility issue) they told me that store was “closing soon” (45 minutes left) and so there wasn’t time to troubleshoot- so I could “do what I want” as in exchange or return. When I asked to confirm compatibility with an alternative device, staff told me to read the box and make a decision. I ended up exchanging for a lower end product with a higher confidence of compatibility but I’m generally unhappy with it. Staff was patient but had very little to offer in terms of recommendations, I also left without the necessary cables and some of the wrong cables. Ultimately turned out that the instrument cable I bought was the fault because the replacement interface also didn’t work. I wish the staff would have take the time to test this with me.
AC Haley
Sean was super knowledgeable and he bought my old gear and sold me some new stuff I needed. Sam Ash also has great techs for fixing instruments!
Natasha Giliberti
Superb customer service. Marc goes above and beyond to meet my needs and is incredibly knowledgable, helpful, and l accommodating. There is great follow up too. He called me to let me know my order was on my way and also seems genuinely interested in my music. I can see why SamAsh has been a leader in the industry for so many years.
Brad Zirulnik
We had to wait over an hour for inventory, which ended up being behind the counter the whole time.
SLO RICE
We showed up at opening and the store was oddly understaffed and we got indirect answers to some of our questions, but once all the staff came in, it was a good atmosphere and the guy working in the percussion room was extremely helpful and friendly. We found exactly what we needed for a good price.
Roboticandroid
super smooth experience. Excellent costumer service.
Kurt Amlong
Dana DeChaby was a huge help with my purchases, he is very knowledgeable and friendly, and knows his stuff!! I'll definitely do business with Sam Ash again based on their prices, and Dana!! 5 stars all the way!!!!
Alison Camillo
I had such a wonderful shopping experience here, all thanks to a wonderful employee named Amore. She was so kind and helpful and made sure I had everything I needed for the clarinet I was buying for my son. When it’s time to upgrade or buy accessories, I am going back to this location without question!
Steve Millington
I was so glad to be at Sam Ash. The guitars are incredible staff was helpful and kind. Really a great place. Everybody take time to visit and go play an instrument or purchase some musical devices! They've got everything.
Vivian Templeton
I was trying to buy a keyboard for my church. It was a long distance transaction as I live a couple of hours out of NYC, and to top it off, the order was started by our music director. Being that I am the treasurer, it was on me to do the actual purchasing. The sales associate, I worked with (LaLeyna) made the transaction smooth as silk. I sent the required papers, we talked about what we really needed vs what we probably didn't need to spend money on. They accommodated my lack of charge card and set me up with a way to pay with PayPal. She kept on top of things so we will shortly have some sweet, sweet music!
Asa Johnson
Customer Service is SO important and the location I went to did NOT disappoint!! For some time now, I have been going to the 34th St. Sam Ash in NYC and playing the impressive selection of digital keyboard/piano's on display. So when it came time for me to buy one, I knew exactly where to come. It turned out I made the right decision as Mark Wasserman offered me an awesome deal on a Yamaha AND a carrying case with wheels! I walked out the store quite pleased with a reasonably priced keyboard replete with a great "feel" and responsiveness that I am sure will serve me well for years to come.
khalil chikhaoui
Nice display of musical instruments. It is important for musicians to try out gear before buying it especially with the development of e-commerce.
Ethan Clark
Lovely selection. Helpful staff. Always fun going in and forking around with massive selection of instruments. Competitive pricing as well.
AXEL DEBREILLY
If you're into guitar and music, that's a MUST GO when visiting NYC. What an amazing place !
Gregory Bloss
Great experience and very happy with my new (used) guitar. Zak helped make everything easy. I'll go back next time I visit NYC just to have some more looks at their amazing selection.
Ron Vallejo
Had a little bit of an issue until the GM of this location stepped in to resort my faith in Sam Ash so I will continue to use them.
Charles R Davis II
Customer service was great. My girlfriend and I went into the store looking for pianos stands and a seat for her. The salesperson in the store was very pleasant extremely knowledgeable and very kind. He told me the pros and cons of each 88 keyboard stand in the place. And the guy at the door even let me in at the last minute to purchase what I had to buy. I would definitely come back to the store even though I'm not a musician... Lol
I would just go for the customer service. The sales people have a classic way of selling very personable and kind... nowadays in stores you don't get great customer service like this everything is fast.. buy and get out...
Some stores you can go into the store and the sales people won't even give you a second look.
Kai LovesNYC
stay for at least an hour— place is huge! With so much selections!
Jocelyn Hawtrey
Large selection of instruments. Plenty of friendly staff on hand.
Ashton Ramdehal
Amazing experience as always at the Sam Ash location on 34th street in Manhattan. I was in and out in 20 minutes. Richard was an amazing help and made me feel very comfortable in the experience. Thank you!
Moshe Klein
A music lovers paradise- they stock everything which is great when you need equipment in a pinch.
Alex G
The best place in the city for a great selection of guitars and basses. Spent hours without being bothered every 15 minutes trying out different instruments before deciding what to buy. Good team, great selection, as much customer service as you want (or don't!).
Matikaah Fitzpatrick
Loved the experience, I was greeted upon entering with a generous smile and welcome. I was assisted by a young man name « Dana » and he helped me purchase everything I needed and even gave a demo lesson on how to tune my acoustic guitar using a tuner. His sense of humor was priceless. Thank you Sam Ash!!
Sarah Francois-Poncet
Your customer service line (manned by Steve Price) was just terrific! I wanted to get a starter but nice acoustic guitar for my son as a birthday present, and discovered that a lot of guitars were out of stock, long delivery times, etc. Steve guided me to a wonderful Yamaha, made sure it was available where I lived, and advised me well throughout the process. Thank you Sam Ash and thank you Steve!
Naomi Diaz
Amazing staff. Very knowledgeable about their equipment. Extremely helpful with all of my questions. I also had trouble with my own equipment and they were happy to help. They check in on you after several days when you call by phone with an issue or a question. Incredible, honest feedback. Prices are very good.

Awesome place for professional musicians !
Friendly and helpful staff .

Mark was very helpful, he got me my SP 404 MK 2 as soon as humanly possible. The guys there are great salute to all the guys at Sam Ash
Christopher Neilsen
The shop on 34th is great! Everyone there knows what they're talking about and they never pressure you to buy the most expensive version of whatever it is you're looking for by showing you all your options with the pros and cons of each. Love this place!
Nigel Wall
Fantastic knowledgeable staff and the best prices available. Buying my new Taylor was fun and easy!
Guy Daniels III
Went in 34th - shortly before closing - to grab an item that I'd called the store about a couple of days before. The sales guy that helped me - don't know his name (but Thanks dude!) - went out of his way to find the item since it had been put away for me when I called the first time. Great customer service!
Michael Laughinghouse
The employees at Sam Ash allowed me to look at products without hovering over me and we're readily available when I needed assistance. They were honest and did not push me toward higher priced instruments.
I got the best value for the money spent and got an impromptu bass lesson.
A wonderful experience at the 34 Street Sam Ash location
Gabriel Martinez
Very good place they treat you right👌 …

The Customer Service Manager (Luis) was GREAT! I called the Midtown location in advance to check if they had a DrumDial Digital Precision Drum Tuner WITH a hard case INCLUDED in their price (as most competitors do not offer a travel case at all, and those that do, have a SOFT zip case travel bag...for an additional cost!?). EASY choice, as Sam Ash had EXACTLY what I wanted, at the price I wanted! ...but not only that, Luis had it ready for me at front counter as soon as I arrived and as I inquired, he offered me some suggestions on other drum accessories to consider...I ended up getting a pair of Vic Firth 7A drumsticks and a double coated snare head as well, as he offered a deal on all that which I couldn't pass up on....I'll be back soon, as he offered to help with more ideas and suggestions for items that I mentioned I'm looking to purchase. Thanks again, see you soon!

Given the pandemic the store, like many was under staffed. Yet the salesman, Marc Wasserman was very attentive, informative and helpful, with myself and other customers. Entering the store I was always greeted in an enclusive way. I'm happy with my purchase and the follow-up that I asked for.
Isaiah Rothstein
I confirmed with Andy over the phone that they had something in stock. It was waiting for me when I got there. In and out in just a few minutes. Quality product, standard price.

My recent experience at yr 34th St store was as always EXCELLENT which is why I’ve been a regular customer for years, having purchased quite a few amps and guitars and supplies there, and have now added repairs and set ups to the mix. Love the accessible knowledgeable staff, the spacious layout and the laid- back vibe too.Bravo Sam Ash for keeping on with the venerable OG and very professional keeping on.

I am happy to see Sam Ash had a great selection of topnotch guitar strings,
So i stocked up. I also found a great gig bag i'll be heading back for.
It seems like they're well stocked so its definitely worth the trip.
The staff was knowledgeable and curteous.

I had a great experience at the Manhattan location. I went in for some guitar strings for my kid and wound up buying a few instruments. The sales staff was friendly and helpful and very knowledgeable and gave me great recommendations for the strings.
Athiya Husain
I am an adult beginner at Piano. After my first piano lesson, I walked into Sam Ash to purchase an electric piano. Marc was the sales rep who helped me. In a short span of 20 or so minutes, he understood my requirements, apprehensions and made a few suggestions. I liked that he did not try to sell me the more expensive pianos but rather the ones he thought would be a comfortable starting point for me. If you buy an instrument here Vs. online, you have the option to sell it back to them at a later time. Another benefit of shopping in-store (at least at Sam Ash) is that the sales reps take the time to explain the different brands, models, settings, styles, prices and you get to make an educated buying decision. They will price match, so you're not losing out on a cheaper deal online. One thing to keep in mind is they don't price match with companies like Amazon or ebay but they will price match with other dealers. They seem to be a family owned company with really good quality staff. I felt taken care of. Oh, they also threw in free shipping!
Dino Richol
The team was very welcoming and very helpful.
Izzy (one of the staff member) was the one who helped me with great advise about my amp purchase. He is a guitar player himself so he gives you useful information to help you make your choice.
Great selection of product to in the store.
That's my second time buying with Sam Ash and I think that I will be a regular customer from now on. You feel like home in the store and over the phone the guys are (again) helpful.
Matthew Nichols
Paul has been repairing my guitars at Sam Ash since 2005 and has done an incredible job every time.
Don Patterson
I went in today (first visit) just for the lookie-loo experience, and truly loved it. Had a blast checking out all the cool instruments. Glad I took the time to do so. Fun! Easy to recommend.
Donna Quinn
I went to Sam Ash to look at a few violins since my violin was acting up and I wanted to upgrade. I'm so glad I went to Sam Ash! The sales manager was very nice and directed me to the right person to talk to about testing a few violins. The sales person was excellent in explaining the pros and cons of purchasing new/used violins. Also, the violin repair specialist was on site and was SUPER friendly, patient, and helpful. I had the opportunity to test out a few violins at my own speed. No pressure whatsoever. All questions were welcomed which I appreciated since I'm a beginner violin student. The violin repair specialist made sure that my violin was up to standard before I left (I purchased an used violin of great quality!). The sales person made sure that I had a case and explained the warranty options. Overall, it was a great experience and I'm so glad that I went here for my new violin!! Also, the selection of violins was impression, so if you're looking for violins, definitely stop by and take a look! I would recommend this store, for sure! Thanks!
Guido Colzani
I had an issue with a guitar and the team worked all together to help me. Elias, my boy! helped me twice. 5 stars for the whole team. Samuel did it again.
Forrest Gerke
I've always had great experiences with the staff at Sam Ash. They folks there are always available to help, they are knowledgeable and they don't pressure you into anything. I've purchased 2 instruments with them as well as string replacements, music books and audio tech products, all of which have been great quality. I continue to go back because I appreciate the level of knowledge and experience everyone has there in addition to getting great products at very reasonable prices.
Michael Endres
Great service — easy return of a pricey guitar. Got to store 15 mins before opening and they let me in from the cold. Nice people!
Marco Escobar
Super friendly staff for the most part. Came in shopping for a pancake drum set for little brother but they didn't let us touch the drum kits. I did get the chance to demo some basses for myself and narrowed down my next bass! The strap locks I purchased were great too
Jill T
Could not have been a smoother experience. The staff people who waited on us were incredibly nice and helpful. Great prices, too! I'd recommend Sam Ash to everyone!
The Starlite Show
Nice People, bought my AKai MPKmini at the 34th Street branch. The people at the guitar area are very patient with me and always offer ideas.
Jacky L
Great store! Huge selection of guitars, staff is very friendly, knowledgable, and willing to help you out. I had an issue with a guitar I recently purchased and they did a great job solving it without any issues
M. Sings
Love this place.. they get 'us' musicians, because most of the sales people are either musicians themselves or work around music. Very knowledgeable and nice. I was there yesterday and Was looking for a portable speaker to perform with.... Luis helped me out, he’s the best! Highly recommend Sam Ash to anyone and everyone who wants to be successful. Go to the PRO's !!
Barry Rock
Although a former New Yorker, I now live elsewhere, but I knew the store through the decades that I lived in NY. I knew from the Web that they had the guitar that I was interested in stock. I stopped by, and sure enough they had a demo for looking at and playing. The sales woman and her manager were both excellent. They had the color and model that I wanted. I got a discount, free shipping (ordered on Thursday, received today, Monday in DC metro Maryland).
I have heard from the sales woman by email with tracking, etc. Excellent, personalized service. And the guitar was packed perfectly for shipping and even arrived almost fully tuned. I highly recommend Sam Ash on 34th St.
Jenn Medrano
I was there yesterday buying a violin, Amore and Jake helped us. They were incredible. So knowledgeable, friendly, knew everything there was to know of violins and accessories etc. they made the whole experience both fun and super easy. Thank you both, and I was impressed with Sam Ashe for hiring people like them
Anthony F Natale
Excellent job repairing my Martin 000-15 guitar by Paul Blomstrom, luthier at Sam Ash 34th St NY. Thank you Paul.
Art Nelson
I searched around for the PRS Silver Sky guitar, and could only find a variety of colors at the Sam Ash store on 33rd. Street. When I arrived, I saw a familiar face in guitars. Joe had worked at the store in White Plains for many years and had helped me in the past. He helped answer questions about the guitar. Joe has a wealth of knowledge about everything related to guitars. He answers every question, and is never pushy or trying to sell a guitar. I like his approach and felt confident buying the new guitar. I added the guitar to my collection, and already love playing it. Thanks Joe and Sam Ash.!
Roy Feuerstein
They have a nice selection of acoustic guitars but almost all of them specially the high end stuff with strings more than dead, a shame to try and see a "new" Taylor that cost 5 k in such condition
the staff is helpful and the store has tones of stuff for every music player
Andras Bokor
I went into the store with the intention of buying a mixer as a gift for someone, which I had already known which one I was going to purchase.
However I also had questions about all-in-one production workstations. After waiting for 20 minutes to talk to someone I just ended up leaving.
It's rough coming in here because unless youre flailing your hands around screaming you're gonna spend money, it doesn't feel like anyone really talks to you.
3 stars because the store is great, it's nice to be able to look and touch. However without any value added I'm just going to buy what I want online. I won't have to deal with the hassel of taking it home and I won't get any service regardless. Just my two cents.
Sleevs M
This place has more electric bass guitars than I've ever seen in one place at one time. Of my instrument of choice, however, they only had one, and it wasn't great. So excellent selection of typical instruments, but not necessarily a great selection of less-mainstream instruments. Service was fine; mostly we were left to our own devices. The one time we did ask a question about a product (violin rosin), the associate was new and said he didn't have any idea what the answer was. There probably are knowledgeable salesmen there; we just didn't happen to talk with any who were well-versed in our areas of interest.
Patty Jones
Lee Kelly did a great job of servicing my clarinet and, gave me a great tip about where to place the reed and ligature on the mouthpiece (I'm a novice player trying to learn on my own since "In-Person" classes aren't an option yet).
James Ravenell
The thing I love about Sam Ash is the variety of instruments. I'm learning the Bass Guitar, and they have them in abundance. I can test on any amp my heart desires.
The staff is available, and helpful but mostly let you be to play what you need.
Heck, I was there right after my first lesson playing major scales terribly and no one complained. They answered my questions when I had them, and made it easy for me to make a purchase.
I visit periodically to see what my next purchase will be. The location is super convenient, too.
Theodore Wilson
It was a great experience, however when someone
spends a great deal of money you should also issue
a plastic bag! Your competitors do. And I don't care
what store I shop in so long as I get what I want.
Robbie Acuff
They have a huge selection, and everyone is super helpful in here.
My only complaint is that there was someone playing Wonderwall on one of the keyboards, and they really should get a sign that says "No Wonderwall, please" or something. No one needs to hear/play that song ever again.
Other than that, this place is great! I was going to order from them on Reverb, then realized they were down the block from my office. When I went there in person, they didn't hve my item in-store, but they were able to FedEx it right there and give me the price I would've paid on Reverb. Love this place! (just joking about Wonderwall although I do despise that song!)
Robert Nawy
Andy was real laid back and did not rush my daughter and I as we played bass and guitars for over an hour and each selected a guitar. Good experience! No pressure!
Mark Permann
Great selection, best pricing, helpful, knowledgeable salespeople. Have bought multiple instruments here and returned one, and they have & stand behind customer-friendly policies. Music equipment is something you really want to try out; Sam Ash & employees make it so there’s only upside vs. buying online. A star of brick and mortar retail experience!
James G.
Great store, knowledgeable employees, and Great inventory. Went to the Guitar store and couldn't find a Baritone Ukulele so I went to Sam Ash store and found an impressive selection. I Went with the recommendation of the employee and was very pleased with the Baritone that I purchased.
Blake Kelton Prentiss
I had an AMAZING experience ordering/finding the right guitar for me. Dana worked with me for a long time finding me the right guitar that wasn't even in the store. Megan was wonderful when I came to try it out, and eventually purchase it. And Luis was extremely courteous and professional. Overall what an awesome team, I am DEFINITELY going to buy my equipment here, and tell all of my friends to as well.
Aja Worrell
They really know their music and care about their craft and their instruments. I worked with Paul to fix up a guitar someone gave to me and he knew everything about the guitar and what was best for it. Nice guy! He didn't try to sell me. He was just like this is what it needs you can do xyz if you want to but you don't have to and gave recommendations for what he would do. If you have an instrument or want to buy an instrument go to Sam Ash. They really are top notch. I've never had a bad experience there unlike at their competitors stores.
Frost Soundz
Richard A. at the 34th st New York location was very helpful w/ his expertise. His knowledge with the Native Instrument midi control product & his customer service was magnificent; definitely would like him to assist me again with future music products. I recommend his sale expertise to others.
Pulkit Sachdeva
Polite, friendly and super-friendly staff. Great inventory without the pretentiousness of Guitar Centre. I am officially a fan now. Thanks to Zack and the gentlemen I now feel stupid not asking the name of, I found EXACTLY what I was looking for. And it was waiting for me on the counter when I stepped in. Man! What a fantastic experience. I'm happy! Thank you guys.
Blake Haase
I don’t normally leave reviews, but I felt inclined to tell the world how much I enjoyed my guitar buying experience at Sam Ash yesterday. I owe it all to Raymond, as he was such a huge help in guiding me to the right electric guitar. He answered all my questions patiently and respectfully. He encouraged me to try a few different models of the same design (Fender Telecaster) and really explained every little detail in a way that didn’t seem overwhelming. Especially in a city - NYC - where you can feel like a small fish in a big sea, I was so happy to have such a great experience at Sam Ash. Thank you, Raymond!!!
Anna Mayo
Been coming here for a few years for piano teaching supplies. I love their selection of music and theory books, their staff is always lovely and you get a teacher discount 🙏🏼🙌🏼 …
Mend Amp
Dana, my Salesman, was informative and very helpful. My Strymon pedal power supply, the Zuma, is one of the best in the business. My old power supply bit the dust two days ago, so it was great to be able to pickup a newer, better unit.
Missing one star for the Asian Salesman, who basically treated me like a thief and followed me out of the Acoustics department. That guy made me feel like I was reallly unwanted!
Donna Kiel
I came to buy replacement violin strings for my son. The salesperson patiently answered my questions and price checked multiple items so I could decide what made sense for me. He was genuinely friendly and polite but also respectful. He didn't try to steer me to the item with the highest price point nor did he dismissively steer me to the cheapest ones either. I think everyone I've encountered is great.

This is a good place to go if you need something music related. They have lots of inventory. The problem is their staff. Customer service doesn’t extend beyond the front door greeters, who are very nice. I was looking for piano music for my son. I had a list of books his teacher instructed me to get, so the staff in front directed me me back to that section and said the staff back there would help me. They did not. They just gave me a general description of where the piano music does. I ended up getting the wrong book, and had to come back to exchange it. When I tried, they said “we don’t take books back.” I had literally bought the book 30 minutes before and wanted to exchange it for the right one, which I would have gotten the first time if someone had assisted me. So, a manager had to get involved, and long story short, it took about 20 minutes to exchange one book for another that cost the exact same price. The bad part about it is the store wasn’t even busy there was no one in front of me in line, yet the line begin to stretch back into the store behind making this exchange. I finally got what I needed. So it wasn’t terrible but it took way too long and the staff was not helpful.
Jose Galvis
I bought two instruments there, these people are really helpful. Jeff Chantra helped me a lot to find my violin and the viola in really good conditions and amazing deal. If I am going to the store at Forest Hills, sale people are always helpful. Especially Marco in the violin section. I am so happy with Sam Ash and its employees
Paul Marion, Jr.
Staff is great and helpful. Nice place to stop for music and supplies while in New York. Would definitely recommend for instrument questions and needs
David M
The store is large, but warm and inviting. I went there in hopes of buying an upscale piano keyboard. I spent several hours in the store trying various keyboards to finalize my decision. I worked with Jeff in the Keyboard and Technical Department. Jeff is very pleasant and was most accommodating in setting up keyboards for me to play, and in answering my questions. I was provided with a top quality headphone to use while playing the keyboards, as were other customers, so that we would not be distracting each other with our playing. I have gone to other stores who sell keyboards and it is usually an uncontrolled zoo with several customers playing keyboards at the same time, which is most annoying. I was in the store for several hours and was able to make my buying decision with no pressure from Jeff. My experience at this Sam Ash store was a very happy one. It appears that Sam Ash's philosophy is to bend over backwards and offer great professional service to it's customers.
Virginia Pike
Dave, who works in the keyboard/speakers area, was really great at helping me pick out the exact model of speakers that would work for me. He let me listen to the different options and he clearly knows his stuff. He also made sure everything was delivered as quickly as possible and stayed in contact with me. Thank you!
Itai Shrell-Fox
Got almost everything, great service!
Only electric pianos though:(
Keith Grant
I rarely shop at Sam Ash in but I will always order the sound equipment for my theatre there. I had an amazing experience Friday. We had our sound board and speakers stolen earlier this week. I needed replacements FAST and Bill (the salesman) was personable, professional and knowledgeable.
Larrolyn Ford
I recently got a music job in Brooklyn and have been looking for a six book Theory series called Master Theory online for about a week now. After researching and making sure that it was the book I wanted for my 8th grade General music class, I decided to check out the book just to make sure it could be interesting to my students. Unfortunately Amazon didn't have all of the books available for two-day shipping and I was positive that buying it through the site they are advertised on would take even longer. I search Google Maps for music stores hoping one of them would be similar to Guitar Center but had a better organization and Collective of theory books. Gratefully I was recommended Sam Ash. I called the location and was told that they had three of the six books definitely. After looking on their website and seeing that they had lots of instruments and other books for sale I decided to go to the store and check out their collection putting the three books that they had on hold for me there. It's a very welcoming environment, with people at the front door who are able to tell you what direction you need to go for anything. I was told that the theory books were closer to the back, it was met by a young lady who is very nice. After looking around for a good 30 minutes I found the other three books that I needed in the series. It was great to find all six books and a lot of other great material for my classroom. Not to mention they have a discount for teachers that makes my shopping a little easier on my bank account. I can't wait to go back with my students to pick up music for our next concerts.

NYC, Sam Ash is a great place to visit.
customer service is a priority to them.
Dana, Paul and Zack were a pleasure to work with.
Rebecca Perna
Raymond was incredibly knowledgeable and professional. Not pushy. He is the type of salesman you want when you want to take time to play, feel, and experience a guitar before making the investment. His fellow co_workers were also very nice. They all work as a team. After going to many guitar stores including other Sam Ash stores this one had the best inventory. Worth the drive into NYC!
Benny Woodard
Knowledgeable, friendly, and caring staff. I showed a bundle deal I found on Amazon that was not available in the store and extremely helpful manager did his best to give me a comparable deal/package. Great service and great selection. Always a pleasure shopping here.
William Black
Went in to get an acoustic. Great selection. Andy was great. He definitely left me with the impression that I had only scratched the surface of his knowledge and understanding of the instruments. He patiently helped me try a bunch and narrow down the field. That, and Sam Ash’s guarantee/return policy, sealed the deal. Left with a Martin (OME Cherry).
Patricia Williams
I went to learn how to tune my violin. The personnel were great. Do I think I will need more help in the future? Absolutely; but it will be due to my own incompetence, not any failing on the part of the Sam Ash folks. Thanks.
Rich Montero
I recently went to the store on 34st and was instantly amazed by the wide selection of instruments, amps and accessories. I purchased a couple of Shure microphones and the sales staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The price was competitive and the shipped the product to my home for free. It saved me from having to carry the package around the city.
I will definitely use this store again for future purchases
Heather T
We went in to learn more about renting versus buying used trombones for my son. Katherine was incredibly knowledgeable, and guided us to the right decision for our family. My kids enjoyed the process. The whole Sam Ash team at this location was warm and helpful.
Hannah Holmes
We had a really helpful salesperson when we went in to buy a keyboard. They have a lot of models to try on the floor, though it's kind of busy with people playing. They also have great prices!
The sheet music selection (I looked especially for voice/piano) is pretty lackluster and not kept organized, so one star off for that.
leon lawson
Everyone I came in contact with were polite and helpful

I needed gear in a hurry and had spent hours at a competitors store trying to get it all sorted, only to be significantly delayed due to technical errors on their side. So, I ran into Sam Ash with a 30 minute window hoping they might be able to assist me better...and they did so with kindness, grace, ease and delight. It was an incredible experience. Everyone was incredible helpful and patient with me - from the cashier Maria to the store manager Ian, the departments run by Jose and Jim, every single person got me set up with all that I needed in the 30 minute window, AND the prices were lower. I had gear for my entire studio ready to go in less time that it would've taken to get a latte at the Starbucks around the corner. A huge thanks to the entire team that made it such a pleasant and efficient experience....I am a Sam Ash fan for life!
Greg Landorf
Had an excellent experience at Sam Ash. I set up my In Home Studio thanks to the expertise of Senior Department Manager, Marc Wasserman.
Marc is a special guy, who knows his stuff. Never once did he try to sell me. I'm looking forward to keeping Marc posted on my career, as I have the right products and I'm no longer held back. Now it comes down to how how bad I want to succeed. Thank you Sam Ash for your exceptional inventory, great prices and exceptional staff. Thanks again, Marc.
10 start experience and highly recommend Sam Ash to people in the market. Good people and good vibes throughout the store.
Dale T
My 2nd trip to the legendary Sam Ash, 13 years after the first. Still an amazing place, a pilgrimage worth taking for any musician.
I bought a Jerry Cantrell Crybaby wah pedal from there, the staff members who helped me were fantastic and super knowledgeable about the stock (I was choosing between 2 models of Crybaby and they were a great help for the comparison), and I felt like a VIP the entire time I was in there, from walking in to looking around to choosing the pedal to paying. I also got some really good and honest opinions on some other equipment I was in 2 minds about acquiring in future.
A truly wonderful experience all round.
Michael Fairbairn
The man at the door who was managing social distancing was doing an AMAZING job. He went down the line of people waiting and asked what we needed, got that department on his walkie talkie and had them pull the order while we were waiting so we could just walk in and pay. What really impressed me was that there was a soldier in line and your employee contacted the department and reminded them to make sure he got the military discount! I was VERY impressed.
Rob
Amazing selection of guitars and basses, kept in tip top shape, and the best staff in the business. Bought a beautiful 335 and an SG from these folks.
For the 335, they had about 10 on the wall. I played all of them for hours to pick the best one to my ears. They even let me stay in the store after hours so I could take my time to find the right one. Great!
Zeze Flowers
I received fantastic service. In particular, Steven, was an amazing source of information, and he was an exemplary professional. He went out of his way to help me, and I got the perfect instrument at a great price. I highly recommend Sam Ash without reservation.
Bruce R
I had a very good experience. Sales people were helpful without being pushy. I bought a keyboard, but after trying it at home for a few days, I realized I want an upgraded model. I returned the keyboard without any hassle. When I decide on the new keyboard I’ll buy it here.
Jerilyn Sackler
Great experience. Helpful and knowledgeable staff. Elias helped me get a new recorder. Great place to shop
Abraham John
Sam Ash was so clutch. I had to play a gig and needed a bag for my keyboard. I went to the store. The vibe was cool. They had a great selection of bags and keyboards. The setup was genius. I’m already contemplating future purchases. Marc showed me the perfect bag to get. It was fast and easy. I love the bag. The overall experience was wonderful.
Kenneth Finnegan
Even though I buy online often, I love walking into this store and putting hands on the guitars. Bought a Michael Kelly electric here that I likely would never have discovered online. Also, the staff is super happy, helpful, and honest. This is a massive store with a small shop feel thanks to the people working here.
Alexis Rodriguez
Treated professionally lots of care and love
Nayem Cardenas-Lopez
They helped me replace my guitar that didnt feel right with ease. Even with having purchased it across the country. Everyone was super lax and nice. Good vibes all around. Recommend buying your gear here.
Jeremy Dahm
The store at 34th street has a great selection of guitars. Staff was super helpful and patient with my exchange. I got a fare deal and free set up. My guitar was set up better than any I've ever had done before. Will definitely shop and bring my guitars there again.
colin bishop
Dropped in for sticks and a practice pad. Justin was friendly and helpful, he directed an old drummer to the right tools needed to get back on the horse. I used one of the electric kits for 15-20mins as well. I’ll be back.
Mehul Shah
This is the perfect place I felt to buy music instruments even if you don't understand music.
The sales person help me to understand about Guitar and suggested couple beginner guitars for my daughter.
He convinced me to buy from good brand but no force to buy.
Even he answered all questions very patiently.
John Kokinis
Had two problematic guitars worked on at 34th st. store. Both guitars had unique issues that were resolved perfectly. The guitar tuner there is unbelievable. So happy with the results!
R.B. Pray
Bought a used guitar on eBay. The guitar was in great shape (as the description said) They only reason I won't give them 5 stars is that I asked to work with me on the price and they said they would not. (Not even $10)
Shipping was fast and it came 4 days before I expected it. Again the guitar was in great shape and we are very happy with it!
Thanks SAM
Joselito El Mutante
Very good customer service, are conscientious, good prices, top quality items and very kind
Michael Calle
I went today and had a great time. Friendly staff and amazing gear. They also have an awesome selection of left handed gear! I'm left handed so that was nice. No matter how expensive gear was, they let you try it.
Staff was very helpful. I was talking to one of the guys there and told him about my quest searching for a left-handed Rickenbacker bass. Dude helped a bunch. Told me Sam Ash can order a left-handed one in the finish of my preference and told me to give him a call once I had money for down payment! That is certainly very helpful.
Come here instead of Guitar Center on 14th. You won't regret your visit!

New York City!
I needed to buy a specific set of microphones for a recording project immediately in store, not waiting for an online shipment. I called Guitar Center NYC on 14th Street to ask for availability, several times over two days, but there were no answers, very frustrating. Finally, I had time to go in store, only to find the mics I needed were not in stock. Because of disconnecting their phones for the Holiday buying rush, it wasted my time.
I was resigned to having to order online, but then thought to call Sam Ash Music on 34th Street. To my surprise, someone answered the phone, and by luck Richard, the salesperson in the Audio department. He looked and quickly responded that he had the mics I needed! He also mentioned they could ship them to me if I didn’t want to come in store, but I said, I’ll be be there soon!
I hopped on the Subway and was pleasantly greeted when entering Sam Ash. I went back to the audio department, and met Richard who was super friendly, very educated in audio gear and the store stock items and guided me not only to the best deal for mic cables, but added another discount off the total! We had a great conversation about music, as he is also in the “Biz” too.
I give Richard 5 stars and Sam Ash 5 stars, for their friendly, knowledgeable service and availability on answering a phone call! Sam Ash has retained an “old school” family vibe that is very different from the vibe of shopping at Guitar Center. But this is not a complete diss on GC, I am thankful they are still available as brick & mortar stores and will continue to shop their if necessary, but I have reset Sam Ash as my first call from now on.

This place not only is a treasure trove for all musicians, with tons of instruments, a practice room, and amateur concerts on Wednesdays. But it can also boast an excellent customer service. I bought my first clarinet from Sam Ash a couple of months ago, and after several trips to the repair shop because my second-hand clarinet was playing me tricks, the manager was extremely understanding and flexible. It could have turned into a horribly expensive and unfortunate new endeavor and turned me off on learning a new instrument altogether, but thanks to the staff, I am now a proud new clarinet player. I highly recommend this place!

People at Sam Ash are incredibly cool. Every single person I talked to was really kind and helpful. From the man from accessories (strings, tools, etc), the man from bass guitars, to the manager and Jeremy, who sold me a guitar and was really patient about some issues I had with my card. Definitely the best out of everything! I love this store and every one of them is highly qualified. You sure will be getting good advice by very experienced musicians about what you're looking for.
Ali Dogramaci
Huge store providing lots of choices. Staff knowledgeable, friendly and courteous. Richard helped me a lot.
Pol Escalante
Had the chance of going to their store in Manhattan, NY and had a blast getting to play a wide variety of acoustic guitars I've never seen in other stores. Fell in love with a few of them (you know how it goes). A week later I called to ask if they still had a specific one I played and they did! I ordered it and it arrived the next day! That's great service right there. Thank you Andy.
Marvin Wenger
Best store of this kind I have ever seen. Comprehensive, well organized and broad inventory - from Ukuleles to Tubas.
Visited 2 distinct areas (acoustic guitars and microphone), and encountered knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly staff in both. An excellent shopping and buying experience - left the store feeling that my business was appreciated.
Highly recommend Sam Ash Music.
Marcos Gazzana
This is a great store. You can find just about everything. Guitars, bass guitars, drums, mics, accessories, everything. The salesman who helped me was knowledgeable and kind. The only downside was that the guitar I wanted to buy was not on display and I had to wait for the staff to find it in the stock. Also a couple of the stretches were buzzing and I had to wait for them to fix them. At least they gave me an extra discount on it to compensate for that.
Karina Castaneda
Definitely not spelling this right but Lolayna and her mananger Rich were very helpful with my online order. They actually called me back and followed up with my order when they said they would. Very helpful and patient. Kudos from California.
Howard Accurso
I met my son and grandson here to go shopping for a kids guitar for my grandson's 8th birthday. They had a large selection for him. Even though we made it clear that we were just shopping that day, the sales staff was super helpful and supportive, letting my grandson try out many electric guitars with an expensive guitar amp. There was no pressure to hurry up. We are very appreciative of the fine service they accorded us. I have purchased a lot of equipment here in the past & I have never been diappointed.
Yan Seniuts
The best music store I've ever seen. The best place to choose your instrument. I didn't even know there's can be so good staff on this earth. If you compare Guitar Center to Sam Ash Music Store (you will compare these two), I'd definitely choose the second one.
Ron Chibnik
Everyone was really helpful getting me exactly what I was looking for and checking it out. Excellent price on a great product (TourTek Pedal Board.) Well stocked store.
Jonathan Kaufman
I bought a 3/4 size classical guitar yesterday. Service was excellent (thanks Megan!) and selection was great. My only gripe was the price of books - everything else seemed reasonable, but I can't believe how expensive it is just to buy an exercise book!
Cathy Brown
The drum/percussion section is where I went to make my purchase. The fellow that works in that area is really cool and knows his stuff!!
The drum/percussion section deserves 10 ⭐️
As for the rest of the store 😑
Since this was the first time at this location I had to ask where to find the product, by name, I was looking for. Unfortunately every person I spoke to to find out where the product is located was either preoccupied with something, dry, or didn’t know what I was talking about. The drum/percussion section is in the back of the store. So asking the last person for my item his response, given in a frustrating way, was “the drum section is in there (pointing at a door), I don’t know anything about percussion...you gotta go in there.”
Doing my best to Not take that energy with me, I went in and the store person was attentively speaking with a customer. There was some cool rock music playing, another customer was trying out a drum set that was on the sales floor, and the sales person immediately acknowledged my presence & answered my questions. He cleared a space for me to try out the mallets with the singing bowls I brought in. I was allowed me to take as long as I wanted to try out any of the marimba mallets I wanted.
Just an amazing experience for me.
The rest of the store’s personnel I interacted with was leSS than amazing.
I’d go back & recommend the store to others.
Robert Bogucki
Jose in Piano department could not have been more helpful. I bought a piano keyboard for our son and daughter over the phone and he had it delivered to our apartment in one day. His guidance as to what to buy and the deal he gave us made it all a great experience. Sam Ash hasn't changed in 35 years since I bought my dreamiest there. Customer Service and people who love what they do. Thank you Jose
Andre Knoll Sr
A very nice place they have all kind of instruments and a very helpful if I'm understanding a repair instruments to Great play.
TJ Nelson
Marc and Elaine are great! They helped set me up with a great MX-88 keyboard and it sounds wonderful. They were able to help me find the best deal they possibly could, and helped give me an idea of how I should grow my studio in the future to get the kind of sound I’m looking for. If you ever get the chance, go see them. It’s also refreshing to know that they are artists themselves, and are grinding just like me, and they’re not just people trying to sell you the most expensive product. It’s nice to be able to feel comfortable around them, so I can really take in their wisdom. Hope this helps anyone else find exactly what they’re looking for! Keep creating!
Ryan S
Great store and selection. Tried to buy a few different guitars but they would only knock off 2% of the cost. I knew what a reasonable prices was on the J-45s, so I balked and will have to unfortunately buy elsewhere. Too bad, cause they were helpful and nice.
Susan Lovatt
Amazing store with friendly knowledgeable staff. The people who work at Sam Ash are all musicians so they really know their stuff. We shop here for our musical son, and he spends hours here checking out all the wonderful instruments. The staff never make you feel like you can’t give many instruments go. It’s like a wonderland for musicians!
Agenda Stecher
Nice shop that had all the good stuff!
Andy Sharkey
I like Sam Ash. There are good people who work at Sam Ash.
But the customer experience is not what it should be, and I’m afraid they will lose business to Amazon as a result.
I shouldn’t be so easily assumed to hand over my personal information for a small routine purchase. I shouldn’t have to wait more than 30 seconds to use my credit card once at the front of the line. I shouldn’t have my receipt and bag inspected every time I walk out the door.
I understand these are strategies attempting to retain a customer base, diminish loss/loss and theft prevention, marketing etc.
But they are inconvient for customers, like me, who shop online and appreciate the no nonsense approach.
As Nixon once said: I am not a criminal.
Heather Coy
As a music store I definitely recommend as they have a great selection but my experience could have been better. I was looking for a book to start keyboard and everyone was either busy with customers or kept bringing me back to the area where everyone was busy. Waited in line for a while and was pretty much on my own finding what I needed help with finding. It was most likely the time of day I went since the last time I was there, I had a better experience being helped but it seemed like they were understaffed at a busy time which made my trip longer than it should have been.
I still recommend going when you want to look for anything to do with music but choose the time of day wisely especially if you need a lot of help.
Michael
Amazing Experience To Buy My First Martin Guitar Under 400 Dollars Great Deals, Excellent Service From The Beautiful Associate Megan that attended me. Megan was very nice, very friendly and very knowlegdable. The Manager was also very friendly. Great Acoustics in the Acoustic Room. I feel in love with that martin acoustic guitar 🥰. …
Gary Tripp
They had a large selection of horns at each skill level. I settled on a beautiful silver Yamaha YAS62. They let me use a mouthpiece and opened a few reeds to try it out. The sales lady knew her stuff. It was an easy and enjoyable experience. I would recommend Sam Ash to anyone.
Seba Romani
Isaiah just rules man, went there and got a couple of guitar pedals and I had a blast! We ended up chatting for almost half an hour cracking jokes and stuff while he helped me to decide on a recording interface. A great shopping experience, super professional, enjoyable and super funny! Isaiah is a totally cool guy! Yikes!
Dylon A
I walked in with the goal of purchasing my first guitar. I was unsure of what to look for and what to purchase but Dana saved the day. He walked me through all the benefits of each guitar and helped me pick out the perfect guitar. Thank you so much for helping me pick out my first guitar! I will be going back because of his level of customer service. Thank you Dana!!

The gentlemen in the repair shop are brilliant. I don't trust many people to handle my rare violin, but Andy did a beautiful job putting in a new, specialized bridge. It sounds wonderful. I'd recommend them to anyone.
Sandra Vazquez
Amazing store! They have EVERYTHING we need for musical instruments. They have trombones, trumpets, violins, Violas, Cellos, bass, and a whole lot of guitars and rock guitars. They also have electric pianos and regular pianos. They have drums and electric drums and woodwind instruments. The store even has music books for any kind of instrument. It also has electronics for dj's and all of that too. I just went to go repair my Alto saxophone and they attended me quick. The people who repaired my sax were very helpful. They adjusted my sax and it was free! In fact, they gave me tips on how to clean my saxophone better. They also made recommendations on getting a better ligature! I had the best experience at Sam Ash. If any of you have to or want to go and have a repair for whatever instrument you have, I would recommend Sam Ash. Trust me, I haven't been to any music store before, and as my first time, I've had a good experience so far!
Richard Findlay
Wow! What a great selection of instruments, tech gear, accessories, and music. Richard in the keyboard area was particularly helpful. I bought a universal foot pedal, some bass discs and cello disc straps. Decent prices and fun. I especially liked the piano and synth area where you can try out the different keyboards.
Cedric George
I enjoyed the experience. From the reception at the door, my personal sales guy, the interaction with the persons manning the various sections to the cashier at the end.
Everyone was upbeat and took the time to explain the pros and cons of my particular choice of items. My personal sales guy (I apologize I did not ask his name) who could pass for a serious Hells Angel's biker...had me cracking up every step of the way as I followed him around the store. He had interesting and amusing comments for every piece of item I requested. His method of upselling was so smooth that was almost unnoticeable.
Good job Sam Ash!!
Carmine Valente
Sam Ash has been the first music store that I have visited when I arrived to NYC 4 years ago. From that moment on, has become my go to place for music equipment. I am a guitarist and I have bought 2 guitars, an ukulele, and a lot of other small stuff from Sam Ash. Prices are reasonable. They have great deals on Gibson and Fender, and I love their 0% interest financing. I think it's a great way to give an artist the opportunity to get a decent instrument, with a monthly payment and without paying a bunch o money of interest. The sales persons are very knowledgeable, and all musicians. I have passed hours to discuss how using a specific configuration for my pedals would change the sound, etc. Another big plus goes to the repair department. I bring my guitars there for setup and other customization and they are very good. They are probably a bit more expensive than a Guitar Center, but I feel the quality of the work and their approach is much better. Just to give you an example, when I brought my guitar the last time for a setup, the technician sent me an email with some suggestions and we had a conversation to discuss the setup. We decided to change the tuners and because they didn't have in stock the tuners I wanted, the technician suggested me to buy them on amazon because that would have been probably quicker than him submitting an order through Sam Ash. I liked that a lot, because I felt he cared more about providing a good service than selling. In general I like the environment there, all very friendly, all very knowledgeable. I like that you have to ask them to try instruments. In other shops, like Guitar Center, you can basically pick the instrument you like and try it. Well seems nice, but I have seen people beating guitars, disconnect cables from aplies with stand by on, and similar. To be honest I don't want to buy something which has been mistreated, especially if I'm paying it same price of the one in the box. Long story short, this is a great place, where you can get good deals, good advises, good instruments setups, and you can try out stuff. Oh, as a last note, they have a great collection of vintage guitars, so if you are interested on that type of guitars (and you have a lot of money) definitively check it out.
Antoinette Ady
I am a violin teacher and I love Sam Ash. I refer almost all of my students there. Those looking for books, sheet music, violin repair and violin purchase. Their violins range from the lowest end to about $2,000 or a little less. They have all sizes and new and used. They have all of the violin family instruments. The employees, manager and repair guy are so friendly, helpful and easy to work with. They also price match which is great for buying strings or accessories.

Ask for Jeremy he's the man, helped me get exactly what I wanted made it easy and fun and was very accommodating!!! Great experience

I recently purchased a PRS SE that took some degree of process narrowing down in terms of finding a good one; that is one with no factory related flaws or features that I was not pleased with. Sam Ash (Adam) in Manhattan was quite patient with me.
I came upon one that I liked. When I brought it home, I discovered that it needed a little tweaking in terms of a set up etc. I voiced my concerns with a note attached to the work order upon bringing it back for Paul, their master tech, to check out. Paul called me and spent a few minutes with me to go over what I was uncomfortable with. Much appreciated that.
Yesterday I picked up the guitar and all is good. Everyone has their own threshold of what is acceptable in a brand new guitar and what isn't. I have definitive ideas about that. As long as all is in place and all the parts are working - I am okay. After that, it's about what I like. All the parts have to be functioning well and even if it is an electric guitar, it has to sound good acoustically to me.
Paul is terrific. If you tell him what you want; you will get it and there is nothing like being heard and that transpiring into materializing.
So the take -away here is - take your time in getting something good, what you like, and Paul always puts the ribbon with a bow on it.
Thank you Adam for being patient with me and thank you Paul for your craftsmanship.
Peace-
Madhu Srinivasan
Well stocked music accessory shop... We went in to buys a violin shoulder rest and music stand.. quite competitively priced. The checkout staff even made a convenient carry handle for using cello tape stuck to the box 🤗 …

I had a lovely time purchasing my guitar from here. The people we’re super helpful and funny. Would def recommend to other people!:)
Blake Townsend
We stopped here on our way to see Luke Combs in concert and the store is massive. They have any instrument you might be looking for. We really just went in here to get out of the cold but ended up really enjoying ourselves and looking around at everything. Great store. Check em out.
Arlene Mejia
Help from the whole team was great especially the care and attention to detail by Aaron who dedicated all the necessary time to getting my requested instrument to the closest store and then tuned it perfectly and gave me instructions on how to get the most out of my purchase.
Paul Cabri
Have always liked this Sam Ash, it's well organized, has great selections and very good customer service.

I purchased the Benjamin Adams Beginner Clarinet. No pressure. I already have experience with instruments so I did not need the rep to give me a tutorial. However, he was ready to give me one if need be. 4 stars because after I purchased the instrument I went to Five Guys (across the street) and I was on the sam ash website and I realized I could have gotten an extended warranty for two years. I was not offered that option so I went back after I finished my burger and purchased it along with a blank sheet music book. The atmosphere is very laid back which I appreciate but the rep could have recommended these things during the first sale. Other than that everyone was nice and helpful. I will be returning to Sam Ash for my music needs.
Kate Jacobs
Always love coming in here, but yesterday was especially great. Staff is always friendly, attentive, and most importantly you can tell they actually know what they're talking about and aren't just concerned with making a sale. Well worth the extra 20 blocks from GC.
Kevin Solano
Wow what an amazing experience I have had at Sam Ash. A very convenient place where anyone can buy instruments, accessories, and so much more. The instruments are in very good condition and will surely not disappoint anyone who is looking forward to becoming a musician. I am highly impressed with this store.
John Olson
Sam Ash Music in midtown Manhattan packs a tremendous variety of high quality, affordable instruments into a modest sized showroom. It's a low pressure shopping experience; I was able to spend a couple hours trying out different digital pianos without anyone breathing down my neck. When I did have a question, the staff were knowledgeable and helpful. Some of the other customers were thoughtless, playing very loudly without headphones.
Bruce Posner
Knowledgeable staff, good selection and extended warranties make this a great place to go to try and buy (or rent) musical instruments such as guitars, keyboards, violins and flutes.
Woe - Woe
Great store to shop at just dont ask the guy in the back where the keyboards are located. He needs to quit and find another gig. Definitely don't like his current job at Sam Ash
Judeah Reid
I am very, very pleased with my voice processor & speaker monitors that I purchased yesterday at the Sam Ash Flag Ship Store on wst 34st in Manhattan on 4/25/19.
My budget was limited in what I could spend on this day, As I had just paid all my monthly bills.
Combined with the many options your store provided. Initially I was overwhelmed.
I found a Sales Professional named Eddie.
Who made me feel very comfortable. Eddie really took the time to explain the products that I thought would meet my needs and was very warm & friendly. Thank you Eddie.
It’s nice to know that I can find quality people
and products At Sam Ash. I really look forward to doing business with you again.
Thank you
Judeah

Love the music show room of the recording department where you can find a little bit of everything at affordable prices within your buget.
Brian Jennings
I bought an acoustic electric guitar via the web site, beautiful instrument came in great shape (open box), but I was not happy with it for two reasons (it really was a "It's me, not you" situation -ha!). Went to the store on 34th Street. The selection, staff knowledge, atmosphere were all fantastic. The staff was really on it too, I got a call back three days later when the model I asked for became available (they were out after the holidays). They happily took the online order guitar from me, credited it, and I got an instrument I am truly VERY happy with. I cannot say enough for the experience and the outcome. Rock on!
Dec 2018: Another great experience, this time in the percussion department, where I was looking to assemble a collection of percussion 'toys' (shakers, claves, chimes..) as a gift for someone special and needed help.
Jennifer M
Was really grateful for the attentive and knowledgeable service about the Casio Privia keyboard accessories I needed to purchase. I'm so glad I went in person, as I'm very certain I would have accidentally purchased incompatible products on line. I'm very happy with my experience!
Barbara McClung
Everyone was friendly and helpful. A special thanks to Lee in the repairs department who looked at my clarinets, did the minor touch ups quickly and gave welcomed and spot on advice!
Carol R
Friendly staff and very knowledgeable about the merchandise. Eddie took the time to help me pick out the best equipment for my recording project. I'm very happy with my purchases.
Victor Linares
Nice staff, they try to be helpful but lack some knowledge on the string instruments. They convinced me to buy a violin mute for my viola. It was too small and they offered me a giant metal cello mute. They should be more familiar with those kinds of things
Steven Joseph Gonsalves
Always an excellent experience. Helpful staff, great products. Looking forward to my next visit.
Ashley Hoblin
Helpful knowledgeable staff, also helped me out with a discount. World of difference from Guitar Center where I was ignored and would've wasted a lot more money. Was offered free shipping to my apartment and an excellent warranty. Will be back!
Veronica White
My experience was GREAT! The COVID distancing was thorough. The service was fluid and personable. My service was handled by a manager named Richard A. I felt special. I plan to return many more times.
Tracy M
the store is amazing filled with all sorts of instruments. all the sales people are nice and helpful with information including shipping etc that made my purchase decision easy. I had to call to check on the shipment but it was rectified by a shipping personnel who made sure i receive my yamaha p115 the next day. it was a pleasant experience shopping at Sam Ash on 34th St. Thank you.
Tatumi Pääkkönen
Very good and friendly service. Prices normal.
Steven Brant
Great experience with Richard (keyboard dept manager), who helped me buy my new Yamaha P-115 keyboard, stand, etc.
When I said I wanted some blank sheet music paper and a pencil, he even brought me pencils in different colors to chose from.
I've bought from Sam Ash in the past and am happy I did so again... this time at there terrific W. 34th Street location, which has free parking next door.
Colin Motsinger
Went during a vacation to NYC to explore equipment not available in my hometown. I naturally spent 2+ hours in the keyboards section. Amazing selection of instruments in each department. Staff was incredibly helpful. All instruments were turned on and available to test. By far the best music store I've been in.
JonMuir75 M
I live on long island, came here just browsing and found they had the bass in stock I've been looking for. I dealt with Mike who was very helpful. My girlfriend also bought her bass here. Selection is good, especially guitars. I really enjoyed shopping here.
Brian Donnelly
Always helpful & knowledgeable sales help, good selection of merchandise and the instruments are in good shape. Got in and out quickly with a boutique guitar I knew I wanted and had previously tried out in the store. One of the better music stores in Manhattan to deal with.

I've been shopping with Sam Ash for some years (Since 89') I've brought Turntables, Mixers, Guitar pedals, wires etc.
Sam Ash has kept the standard since day one and I go there when ever i have audio needs. There's no fluff or slick sales pitch just direct and honest service.
Continued success

I bought the first Electrical guitar for my sister, and a Fender Amplifier from Sam Ash. The overall experience was good and positive. The price was lower than all the rest. I would definitely give them 5 STARTS.
Liam Higgins
I bought a Squier Telecaster at Sam Ash a few months ago and had a great experience. I decided to go back to get my wife's violin repaired. Shout out to Lee in the String Repair section. He was super helpful and was able to get it back to life. Thank you!
Richard Dews
Best Sam Ash in the country! Luis, the Sales Manager, MAKES you feel like family and his service establishes relationships on your terms. On 3 separate occasions, I bought audio hardware, a guitar strap, and had an Ovation iDea restrung and cleaned.
Service Department is kind, helpful and responsive -- neither suggesting nor assuming to do unnecessary work for billing -- they actually advised me of the work that my guitar didn't require!
This place is great!
Hameerudin Zawawi
Friendly staff and affordable prices. My only gripe was not knowing that they carried "used gear" when I was purchasing my guitar last year. Had I known, my 200$ would've gone to an awesome-sounding used guitar as opposed to a flimsy-sounding new cheap guitar from Guitar Store.
J
Came here to pick up some sticks for a drummer friend of mine. I know nothing about instruments or making music lol. The staff was friendly and welcoming, as well as extremely knowledgeable and able to help me get just what I needed. I'll definitely be back here if I ever need to purchase any other music making instrument things :)
Christian Del Rosario
I've been a satisfied client of Sam Ash for more than 20 years now. They have great selection of musical instruments and gear but what's more important to me is their commitment when it comes to understanding what you're looking for and what you really need in order to advice and guide you in the right direction.

Megan assisted me during my visit to Sam Ash NYC Times Square store. My interest was in acoustic guitars. Megan was well versed in the different guitars that I was interested in and was also able to demonstrate. She gave me the details that I needed as well as the time and patience for me to contemplate my decision without feeling pressured. Helpful, persistent, attentive in just the right portions. I found Megan to be very approachable and easy to talk to about my interest in acoustics instruments. I did make a major purchase as a result of Megan’s sales and customer service efforts and shall look forward to doing business again in the future. Thank you, Bill

Very nice staff and very good selection for drum equipment

We were very well attended by Richard Augustin, He is very polite gave us a really good hospitality, in addition there are good products and the service was wonderful!
Hal Dellinger
I got exactly what I was looking for during my visit. Jake was especially helpful as he was able to unearth an item that I was unable to find. He was knowledgeable and professional. Many thanks to Jake.
Rodrikus Springfield
At first I was just going to browse and some ideas about equipment, but after working with the salesperson, I’m sorry I can’t remember her name, but I know she is a DJ. I was happy to purchase that day. She gave me information and necessary insight to the point I was proud of my purchase. She’s great and credit to your company. Thanks

Very cool place.
Huge collection of tools, equipment and accessories for musicians. Very organized and comfortable exhibition. Welcoming and patients sellers.
The atmosphere was leasant and calm even though several musicians were playing separately, trying their instrument.

My visit was great! Ira is truly an amazing individual. He is a kind soul, great guitarist, and he keeps it real with you. He needs to get a promotion, raise, bonus, and whatever else he can get. He takes the time with customers and doesn’t try to upsell them on stuff.
Elyse Iemola
I had literally one of the most amazing experiences at this particular Sam Ash with Marc Wasserman. He spent a crazy amount of time teaching me/helping me learn about sound proofing and helped me get what I needed for less than a quarter of what the previous place I had been to wanted to sell me. I will continue to go back for any future needs to work with Marc. Thank you again!
GRACE E.G.
So much to say about this place! Since my dad took me here to buy a new violin case. Great service, amazing reasonable prices and the people are just amazing. I will always go to Sam Ash to get anything I need for my violin and/or music related.
MrsWeFlo2
Very nice & informed salesman and very knowledgeable about flutes & manufactures. I really like that about him and he wasn’t pushy just followed my lead of questioning. Also gave me references, business card etc...I’ll definitely like to travel back there to pickup my new instrument👍🏽 …

Great store. The employees are super nice, very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. I had a problem with a mic and they went above and beyond to be helpful and fix my issues. Highly recommend this location for all your musical needs
Rob Narita
Unbelievable service!! Where you gonna get this anywhere else? Had a performance on Friday eve in Manhattan, forgot sound cables, PA power cord, and microphone. Jumped in a cab, called Sam Ash and spoke to Rocco, a sales manager. He got everything together, and I ran in, paid (a really good deal), got back and set up in time to perform!! Of course, I’m never going anywhere else, EVER! Sam Ash, baby! Thanks, Rocco!!
Coilhead Brown
Always get treated like a pro here. Had a crap experience at Guitar Center yesterday, came here today and spent out $1500 gladly. Shop is tidy and whether I get a grumpy or friendly sales person, they know their business and take good care of me. Horn department rocks. I dig it.
David TH
Sales person Nick was tremendous. I needed some serious help making decisions about a pedal board, power supply, and some basic pedals for an important gig coming up. Nick walked me through all of the options, got the things I needed all together, and rung them up. In the end, it was a bit more than my budget allowed and he helped me decide what were my "must-haves" based on my amp setup, the set list, etc.
Leighton Minor
Plenty of knowledgeable staff and always very helpful. Traded a clarinet in here recently and the entire experience was enjoyable and got offered a fair price. Would go back there for any music need in the future.

Nice place instrument store in the New York city Manhattan
Adam Wright
Purchase an Ibanez electric guitar with the sales specialist Izzy. He spent a great amount of time with me. He went over everything in great detail. Then he pair my guitar with a great amp, now I'm set to go. I will most definitely return.
Jay Pagirsky
Ned was extremely helpful and courteous. His product knowledge was exceptional. This is now my 3rd significant purchase at Sam Ash in White Plains and everyone has exemplified 5 star customer service.
Juan Jurado
Great customer service, variety of items for sale. Loved it
Hannah Mishin
Not being a music person, I went to buy my first instrument ever, and the salesman helped me select the right thing, offered to order it, email exchanged with me regrading delays and other options and was friendly the entire time. Above and beyond he was and I appreciate the small instrument shop feel in a larger store.
Scott Schreer
Marc Wasserman the sales manager in the Keyboard Dept. is one the nicest guys I've ever dealt with when buying equipment Polite, knowledgable, and considerate - a gentleman and a professional. Thank you Marc (especially for your persistence and patients on me picking up the pedals!) S. ☺️

Sales Techs were very friendly and knowledgeable.
Drum dept was cool....and my babe loves his cymbal case/stick bag!!
Good job Sam Ashe!

Wonderful experience, the Rep was about to go to lunch and went beyond the call of duty to facilitate my purchases. He was patience, helpful and knowledgeable. On top of that I told him I'd seen the device cheaper elsewhere and he matched the price. Thank you so very much "Mr Haiti"
Raul Rugel
I am treated well here. I have pretty much stopped shopping at Guitars Center where there is little or no Black representation an I am treated with suspicion. I feel relaxed and welcome here and that’s a big deal for me.
VientoViajero VV
Excellent store, where you can get everything you need from beginner guitars, to the most expensive ones. Inside store are departments for electric guitars, acoustics... hundreds of guitars which you can play to get in love with its sound or just to have the pleasure of using for few minutes as your favourite guitarist does on stage. Great attention&equipment.
Romi I. Savini
Great customers care. Chris an Andy helped me to find a great violin. They replied all my questions nicely and patience. I definitely will recommend the store.
Will Schwartz
I needed the right axe at the right price and was under some time pressure as I was flying that day. Dana deChaby was super nice & friendly while also being knowledgable and professional. He let me noodle around on different guitars, never pressured me to do anything, ad offered helpful feedback when asked. We found the perfect guitar and Danna helped me ship it to my home where it arrived the day after I did. Al in all - a great experience. I can heartily recommend going to Sam Ash on 34th St. and working with Dana deChaby. Thanks!

We had a blast!

The people in this store are knowledgeable and want to help. They have a huge variety of items, including guitars, song books, harmonicas, many other instruments, etc. It's a fun place to go to for anyone who likes music and either plays an instrument or wants to learn.

This place is awesome. I go here too much. If you love music and you love gear, you can't not go here. The people that work here are knowledgeable and passionate just like you are, and it's a pleasure for me every time I walk in to chat with them, especially Ray. I've bought many things here, including a Peavey 6505+ head, orange 212 cab, mxr pedals, guitar strings, tuners, cables, mics, stands, etc. Their return policy is flexible, so you can justify an impulse buy with "if anything I'll return it". (Hint: you probably wont (; ) their price matching policy is legit too - I once bought cables and later found them cheaper elsewhere, and was able to get some money back. If you need gear, can't go wrong with samash.

Great buy, great service. Love the Hartke bass amp.
Shalmali Kholgade
Wonderful staff!! Dayna helped me pick 2 guitars on my first day.. he let me stay with them.. play them.. while dropping in on me every now n then to make sure I was doing ok. On day 2 Andy finally closed my account by helping me pick the Taylor I bought. They were both very helpful, patient and knowledgable.
Jason Fernandez
I got a set up done in one day for my acoustic! Great customer service!
Karan Arakelyan
This place is probably the best music music store in and around Manhattan and generally New York. If you’re looking for the best quality instruments and a wide variety of instruments this place is the way to go. Staff is kind and friendly and knowledgeable about all instruments. They Rock!!

Very happy with my experience purchasing my Epiphone Acoustic. Ira Gruber was the person at the desk and we was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and patient. He answered my questions and did not try to sell me anything I did not need or ask for. I felt no pressure and was very relaxed sitting and trying out different instruments. I live in New Jersey and I would still travel in to this store location for my needs because of the great experience I had yesterday. I hope Ira gets to see this review.
AmikoTheGreat
I’m surprised at the amount of things they had in the store! I bought my cello there so I’m happy to say that it was a good buy! Very impressed at the selection of instruments they had, a good store that’s located near Penn station.
Russell Dobular
No upselling, no bs. Eddie let me just hang out and test different electric pianos for two hours, until I settled on one that was less than half the price of the one I was originally going to buy. It wasn't even about the price-it just had a better piano feel and sound from my perspective. Eddie talked to me about my choice like a musician, not a salesman, with no effort to direct me back to the higher priced models. Great service and atmosphere.

I am a tour guide on the double decker busses in NYC. My microphone failed in the middle of a tour. I went to Sam Ash, where they verified that I had a warranty. They replaced the microphone immediately with no questions asked and I was back at work in less than an hour. The staff was knowledgeable, courteous and efficient. I highly recommend Sam Ash
Xone-Stax
They have a lot of music equipment that you can think of and they are helpful with assisting people with what they are looking for. I even left something there and came back the next day and it was moved from where I left it, put up and The person who helped me the day before made sure I got it back.
Dennis Stewart
Had a good experience buying an acoustic guitar. Dana was friendly and helpful, and gave me a price well below sticker. Next time I'm buying an instrument, I'll definitely go here first.

I needed some accessories in a hurry before rehearsal last night. I found the keyboard/DJ area easily and I was greeted by a clerk within ten seconds. I told him what I wanted (two kinds of DeOxit and a keyboard power supply) and that I had a rehearsal. He said he had the power supply and the first kind of DeOxit but probably not the second. (He was right, the store didn't have it.) He went to the shelf and retrieved the two items he did have in another ten seconds; he knew exactly where they were. He had me out of the store with the items I needed in less than five minutes and I made rehearsal on time. The 34th Street store in my experience has always been very good, but I hadn't been here in about two years. This transaction, small as it was, could not have been smoother or better handled. Five stars.

Purchased a digital piano for my daughter who's just starting lessons. There were two very knowledgeable gentlemen in the piano department. Spent time with both and both were lovely. Terrific experience.
Theo Panton
Great store. So many instruments and music accessories. The staff was super friendly too. I'll definitely return here.
David Hulett
Please go shop here!!!! I'v e been to Guitar Center 4 or 5 times and I never walk away feeling like I was treated with dignity and respect. I went to Sam Ash once and all of the staff treated me kindly and answered my questions. The environment was awesome and has influenced a long time Guitar Center customer to switch companies and make it my main shopping place for all my music needs.
Nicole O'Connor
Dana in acoustic guitars was incredibly helpful in identifying the right instrument for me. He followed up promptly to let me know that the mandolin he ordered had arrived, took the time to explain all the different add ons I should buy (and what I shouldn't bother with) and maintained a laid back, friendly demeanor throughout the whole experience. Id definitely recommend purchasing an instrument from Sam Ash - especially if you need some guidance as I did!
Alejandro
I had a very great experience trading in and buying a new instrument. There was a lot of people and the staff managed to get to and help everyone. Overall a really good experience, and will definitely come back !
Bob Prince
Brought my guitar in for a new superswitch.
Paul did an excellent installation and adjusted the neck, as well. Explained what had been wrong in the first place and what he did to fix it.
Job was done quickly and professionally. Price was right.
I'm a fan.
Ruzan Asatryan
Excellent buy/return policy! Professional stuff and consultants. There was a stuff member ,who helped me to choose the products I needed , his name was Edward (Eddy, I believe), my grate thanks to him,in particular.
Bayron De Paula
The only place where i could find my awesome mic telefunken m80. Customer service was really solid from the moment i walked into the store to the moment i left. I talked to a total of 6 employees and they all helped me a guided me in the right direction!
Naomi Adkins
Very friendly and helpful staff, huge shop with an enormous variety (only really looked in the guitar section). The staff were happy for you to try pedals before buying too.
Tom Picciotti
Excellent experience. The salesman, Dana, was great. Very helpful. Answered all my questions. Was there when I needed him, but I never felt pressured.
ERROL SHAKES
One of the largest music store i have ever been in they probably have about easily 12 rooms so cool to see the different instruments pianos and the cool thing is that if you play your more than welcome to stay and play the pianos anything that's there I also got free guitar picks

Retail music stores with a large selection and knowledgeable sales and repair people are a dying breed. Sam Asch NY is, to my knowledge, the only one remaining. I have purchased two bass guitars here and also 2 bass amps from the man himself (Larry Hartke -resident at San Asch). 2 year service contracts for guitars for 60 dollars allow up to 8 setups every year (maybe it’s 2 years— but it’s more than I’ve used). Knowledgeable repair person (Paul). Very accommodating managers. Good prices. Not your “boutique” store, but close to it with a great selection.
Only good experiences here. Very mixed at the “competing” big chain store that I won’t name.
johnnyjackpot
A cordial elegant girl greeted me and my son when we entered and exited the store. The gentleman in the acoustic guitar section courteously directed me to where D’Addario banjo strings were located. Another sweet girl overhearing our conversation walked me in person to where the strings were.
I made two cash register purchases. Both were pleasant experiences. The man who gave us a shopping bag on our way out was also personable and nice to my son.
Everyone made eye contact (which almost never happens in places of business located in New York City).
Thanks!
Lenny Hinton
Cool store. Bigger than you think. Probably the most diverse music store I've ever been in as far as having pretty much everything except grand pianos & maybe timpanis. Second time visiting the bass lounge. Met Larry Hartke too. Cool dude. He's a legend in the industry.

WOW Sam Ash is where i got my first Fender stander strat. Marshall JCM 800 stack amp. I remember meeting all the metal band's who been there buying instrument's. I'm talking about the mid 80's. It was one of the best time's of my life. I remember most of the employees had long hair and all.
I tell you Sam Ash is the only place that has what you need. For a musician, it's a place that has better quality in instrument's. Employee's are very respectful and really come up with a better solution's.
Hedy Alban
The Sam Ash store (I went to the one on 34th Street in Manhattan) was a lot of fun. People are very friendly and they let you stay as long as you want to try out the instruments and browse. They have a huge selection of instruments in stock, and there is no pressure at all to buy. Overall, a wonderful experience.
Martin Yee
This store will go out of their way to help you luis in the drum dept is very helpful and knowledgable. Very under staffed though so be prepared to wait.
The President Lincoln
Lelena in the keyboard section was an incredibly friendly and helpful salesperson. She actually encouraged me to buy a less expensive piece of equipment rather than just trying to up-sell me, which is a rare experience in big music stores.
Daniel Rotundo
I have been going here for some time and can not speak highly enough of Dana, the gentlemen in the acoustic guitar department. He is amazingly informative as well as pleasant and is always willing to go out of his way to assist.
Tim Camuti (Itumac)
I don't normally post reviews but I've had several review worthy good experiences at Sam Ash in NYC.
Luis made choosing the right effects pedal certain, fun and easy. He gave me a good deal and included a charger on a small purchase. Thanks man!
Second, Larry Hartke... inventor odHartke amps runs the bass shop. This cat set me straight on whats what in the amp market with out a purchase. I bought a used Hartke set up privately with his advice. He's happy to be out there sharing his knowledge.
This place handle NYC shoppers just right. They hit the sweet spot evey time.
Mark from NYC
Sam Ash could not have been a more pleasant experience! I purchased the Les Paul SL electric guitar and a Fender amp from the Guitar Center website. This was a Christmas present for my son which I ordered on Nov. 20th. I received an email saying that it was backordered and would ship late. By Christmas, approx 35 days later, the amp had arrived but the guitar had not. Major bummer for my 5 year old son. Every single morning for 10 days we would go online to see if it had shipped. Then, on the 5th of Dec I got a cold email that stated, "due to a logistical error" they CANCELLED the order and I will be refunded. What!!? I emailed them and got no response so I emailed corporate. On Saturday morning I called Sam Ash. They had 1 in the color we wanted in store. Jerry was super helpful and super kind. He put it aside for us. We went in, it was there waiting for us. Again, Jerry was awesome and so was Paul. In fact, everyone in the store was very nice and professional. They tuned the guitar and we got some picks, a strap and a cable and were back home with my sons Christmas present. Sam Ash made happen in one day what Guitar Center failed to do in 35 days. Huge, gargantuan fail for Guitar Center. Serious kudos to Sam Ash. Excellent experience!
Leah DeLorenzo
Bought a great little Martin here last week. The selection was great, all models of the little Martin were there to try. The sales guy was pleasant and made the sale a breeze.
A'ndre Davis
Salesman was excellent. Left all my gear and didn't realize it until the very last minute. I was able to get everything I needed and made it in time.

Very good music store: welcoming staff and nice selection of instruments. Prices are also pretty competitive. John in Guitars was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Every musician should go visit that store.
GuigyMan
The best customer service I've had in a while. Jeremy over at the guitar section really helped me out, I had been looking for a yamaha thr5 for a while since I moved to NY and he set one aside for me. GREAT STORE!!
Dave Rosenberg
The BEST music store in the ENTIRE world!! Such a BEAUTIFUL store! Even if you are not into music! Sam Ash is a piece of art! Staff is phenomenally friendly and the best part is; you get to play the instruments for FREE!!
Yimy Gutierrez

Incredible store and incredible experience! Bought my son his first Ukelele on his birthday here! Andrew was a huge help, such a cool guy and made the experience perfect! Thanks Andy! Great store in NYC!!!
John Kreutzberger
I got excellent service from Matt and was very pleased with the selection of used instruments. It was very convenient to be able to try out the horn I had selected. I am very happy with my new trombone!
Sandra Contreras
Great customer service. Love these folks. Got my son's saxophone tuned up in no time. Cannot recommend enough.
Marc Dolbier
Super friendly and laid back no pressure. My son and I played huitars, drums and keyboards and made a small purchase. The guys in every department were great. Great place to bring a young musician.
erick villegas
Great service! Great staff! Very helpful!! I've been going to Sam Ash for all my musical needs since I was a kid and always felt comfortable at their stores and this one is no different!!!

Sometimes they fail to carry what we need, are overpriced, or seem so busy taking care of someone else or talking to each other and will let you just stand there before acknowledging you as a potential customer...feel like they size you up as you walk into the store. Some are friendly and welcoming. Others act like you don't even belong there.
I think they may work from commission and don't look your way if you don't appear profitable. Unfortunately, this has been my experience at this location. I'm convinced it's due to the lack of competition in the are that causes a type of superiority complex...(maybe this should be 3 stars instead).

I was about 2 weeks late renting a violin for my son. Work, NYC and just the daily grind got the best of me. I finally followed through and called around to see who had violins left for the school year.
I called Sam Ash on W 34th between 8th and 9th avenues in NYC. Jacob picked up the phone. He advised me that the store had many decent quality used violins that would cost the same (or nearly) as renting for a year.
When we arrived at the store, he helped my son choose a violin. Tuned several, and had him play the violins until we chose one we loved. He then made sure we had a nice case, bow, rosin, shoulder rest. Completely loved the experience. Jacob spent an hour with us, and honestly, it made me and my son feel great about our purchase and Sam Ash.
Excellent service! Thank you Jacob!

good people ^.^. I love them

The sales associate who helped me was Sara(i think). She was very courteous and professional, and went beyond my expectations in her customer service. Give that lady a raise!

I've been a musician for 50 years now and lived in 5 different countries. I am so pleased when I need to go to Sam Ash and confident that their service and hospitality will be there for me. What a difference from any other music store. Thank you, folks!
Alexios Kouvelas
Great shop huge variety of instruments and equipment and accessories and strings. Very helpful people showed me 2 guitars that i didnt even ask for, just great. Much better than the guitar center on Times Square.
Marvin Blugh
Went in to pick up some headphones, the staff were all knowledgeable, found me a great deal, also very friendly as well at the check out. No pretentious snobbery that one might encounter at a music store, just kindness and ease of purchase.
Isabella P
Big music store, much more than what I was expecting. The people there are very friendly, and you are allowed to test out the instruments. They even offer picks for playing the guitar. It's a really nice big music store to visit.
Joanna K
Music instruments are just one of those things that you don't want to buy online. Or, I don't anyway. It's so nice to go into the store and try out a few options. Staff always know nearly everything or are happy to pretend they know!
Mel Horry
So much choice,a great store.
Heather Crowell
Awesome transaction on a used baritone. Very helpful, gave me confidence in my purchase, threw in extras and arrived in 2 days. Highly recommend.

I love Sam Ash. I've been going there literally for decades, even before they moved to W. 34th St. Tons of beautiful instruments. You can sit and play, and browse. Great prices, too. I almost never go in without buying something, no matter how big or small (strings, picks, books, DVDs, recently a great Fender Mustang II amp, even cool t-shirts...). I bought my Epi Les Paul there, and I just took it in to get it checked up and re-strung. Paul Blomstrom is the manager of the repair shop. I have 6 other guitars, and I take them all to him. He's been there for ages. I totally trust Paul. He's the best. The other employees are great, too. Always helpful, ready to answer any questions, help with instruments, advice, etc. I can't say enough about Sam Ash. I like them better than the other similar places here in the city. Not gonna name names...;-)

What a knowledgeable and nice team! Manager Mike, and associates (DJ) Amore and Nick were so so helpful and accommodating. Arrived to the store 15 mins before closing and didn’t even realize it bc they never made me feel rushed. Ended up purchasing the set of speakers, a reflector and lots of foam for my vocal booth.. Had such a great experience, returned a couple days later to purchase more. Amore helped me by not only letting me know what equipment was needed but also how to set it up at home. She really went above and beyond to help me and give me her contact info if there was anything else needed. Never ever again, will my purchases be made anywhere but Sam Ash Music. Thanks again! (Oh and there’s some glitch that doesn’t allow me to type the letter “I” for some reason so apologizes for the wording haha)

Came in to sell off a Weril pocket trumpet that is practically
brand new but purchased years ago from a music store on
23 Street that was going out of business. Kind of strange
since I am a clarinet player and don't play trumpet; played it
exactly twice ( bugle calls ) and that was years ago; kept it
pristine. Band section gave me a fair price for it, 50% of what
you can sell it for, and I bought reeds and cork grease for a
new (old) clarinet that I have purchased on Reverb on the Web.
Nice people at the store; fair price, great service. Manny's
used to be my choice of music store ( went to Adelphi College with
the owner) but long gone. For a large chain store Sam Ash still has
a homey flavor. I miss everything being on 48 Street. But you are easy
to find.

Took my 5 year old to Sam Ash for his birthday and Geo, guitar department manager, was just unbelievable cool with us. Usually kids in guitar stores are treated as an inconvenience or worse - Geo made us feel like part of the family! (That is, if you build custom pedal boards, tune guitars, and roadie...for your family!!)
Seriously, unforgettable treatment - made a very special birthday truly memorable. And we have the cutest custom pedal board in the world now.
Claudine Revere
The team at Sam Ash made the experience of buying my son his first real drum kit a great experience. They were professional and friendly, easy going and patient.

At Sam Ash every musicians dream gear is right there before them. You can touch it, feel it and play it.. And should you have a question, the fully staffed team is also right there to share their knowledge. There is no pressure and it is like hanging out with your friends..

I recently purchased two classical guitars from Sam Ash Music Stores at 333 W 34th. I got great and patient advice from Dana. When the entry level guitar had a problem, Sam Ash replaced the guitar; they stood behind the product. I am an attorney in the service business. Everyone at Sam Ash was terrific.

If you visit Sam Ash in NYC, ask for Jeremy K!
Hands down one of the most down to earth, real, helpful sales associates I've ever had the pleasure to make business with in the guitar industry (and I've bought several guitars from the other competitors). He was able to help me purchase a high end Friedman guitar directly from the maker all while giving me a good price on it and making the transaction a smooth easy one (even when the maker took a little longer to ship the guitar - he was on top of it).
Fun fact: back in 2010, I visited Sam Ash and fell in love with this Fender Roadworn Strat that unfortunately for me was a bit out of my budget (I just had graduated college and barely had any money). Luckily for me, Jeremy was able to assist me. He could tell how much I really liked this guitar but that I was in a dilemma. Anyways, Jeremy looked at me and without hesitation gave me an AMAZING deal on the guitar so I could have the pleasure of taking it. I couldn't believe it. I got the guitar and never regretted since.
It's these kind of meaningful experiences that keep making me come back to Sam Ash.
Thanks Jeremy and the entire Sam Ash team - you guys are the best.
Dylan Wine
First I went to guitar center. They only had a few sub $1000 guitars on the wall, and when I asked if any more were in stock the guy said no without even checking.
Then I went to sam ash. When I asked them if they had any more teles, they pulled one out from the warehouse, unboxed it, and gave it a quick once over. The salesman ended up saving me $200 by doing this. Yeah they’ll try a bit to push you towards more expensive stuff, but they weren’t pushy, and they didn’t bash the cheaper gear to upsell me. Frankly I expected a lot worse. If you’re gonna buy an axe in manhattan, this should be your first stop.

Richard was great and helped me use a gift card and my Sam Ash card. We connected on our mutual love of Caribbean and African music too so I made a new friend. Thanks !
