Quality store; I went in here looking to review it. I found: Great deals on used gear (as well as new equipment.) Sam Ash is an enormous music store, The employees are well informed, polite, and helpful. They have a great deal on the products in their various sections, with a ranging spectrum of every musical sound you can think of them having. From midi keyboards, dynamic drum microphones to clarinets, and they can order and ship anything to you. Yes, I highly recommend this to you. Check out my photos to see what I mean! Thanks, -Daniel

Always a great trip for my music loving spawns with a mom who has absolutely zero music abilities. Brett and Keith were amazing, helpful and informative. From helping me find clean kits for their newest editions (a trumpet and violin) to hyping them up playing their old favorites (guitars, cello, sax). I even picked up a quality kids percussion kit for my youngest with hand cymbals, shaker eggs and stuff. That plastic stuff found most places doesn't stand up to his unintentionally aggressive musical talents. Super cute. Thanks for helping wrap up those final gifts guys. I didn't get his name but the guy helping Brett learn the register was the kindest, supportive coworker.

I took some sound equipment in to sell back to Sam Ash. Chandler was the associate who worked with me. He was very personable and checked out the equipment and gave me a quick estimate. After making sure the equipment worked and getting the ok from his manager, I was handed cash for my equipment, a fair and equitable amount considering how old the equipment was and how much it had been used. Sam Ash music store is a great place to shop for new and used music/sound equipment. Their associates are very patient and knowledgeable. I would recommend them for all your music/sound needs.

Scotty and Tyler are my go too here. The whole house is just a wonderful staff from the floor to the back to the repair department!! Just wonderful all of them I’ll take my business and spend my money here when I want/need something. It’s people like the people that work at this location that make my day so much easier and better. I purchased a cheaper used guitar online from Sam Ash in Madison. Before it shipped, I called the store and spoke with Chandler. I asked if he wouldn’t mind sending me a few more pictures of the guitar, and test it out to make sure everything worked before it shipped out. He was more than helpful, and pulled the guitar, sent me more pictures, assured me all the electronics worked and that it unfortunately came without a case or gig bag. After I received the guitar, I called and told Jamie, the store manager, that I appreciated that Chandler took the time out of his day to assist me. Technically I had bought and paid for the guitar, so I don’t believe they necessarily had to do this extra work. To assure me after my purchase was a great help. I will give this store my business just because of the way I was treated. Thank you, Chandler. Greatly appreciate you helping me rehome this guitar.

I was looking for a soft case for my son’s Fender acoustic guitar. This particular acoustic guitar has an elongated headstock and most cases are too short. Sam Ash had a well made soft case that was an exact fit! And the price was lower than I was expecting.

I have a Sam ash store just minutes from my house so I started shopping there in early 2021 bought and traded a few guitars and other gear all culminating in my recent purchase of 2 awesome les Paul standards and from the vary beginning my interaction with the sales staff and management has been amazing , Truly friendly and knowledgeable sales staff , decades of experience in the tech/service department and management always available and with options to make your purchase possible. I am on the hunt for Les Paul number three and I will definitely be talking to my samash guitar department manager Tylor to make that happen. I forgot to mention that I received 3E gift cards via email directly from Mr Ash totaling $150 what a classy and thoughtful gift. Thank you and keep rocking on!

As I loaded my stuff I forgot to grab my lead wires. I live an hour away, so they offered to mail then over night for free. They were delivered the next morning by 800 AM. I recently purchased a Ampeg tube amplifier from Sam Ash. Upon recent the package was severely damaged. The representative, Anthony, at Sam Ash was very communicative and offered a 90 guaranteed return policy. The amplifier ended up being okay, however I changed my mind on my choice. Anthony was very understanding and cooperative. Even though we could not return the amp in it's original box (it was destroyed!) they still gave me a full refund in a very timely manner. My experience with Anthony was definitely a good one and I will look to them for future purchases. Highly recommend

First off, Ben and Billy are the best. Visit the store, Don't buy online. Especially if you are buying an instrument. I started out with a purchase online from samash.com and the trumpet I bought, on the cheaper, side but had great reviews was horrible. I wont go into detail but I was completely disappointed. I called the store to see if I can do a return and Ben answered. I can't say enough good things about Ben. He didn't rush to end the call but was extremely patient as I told him the issues, and he said bring it in and we will make it right. I asked him if he knew anything about trumpets and unfortunately, he admitted he didn't know much about them but would help in anyway he could. He described over the phone what trumpets they had in stock, used and new and one caught my attention. I asked him if he could describe it more in detail and he did. I asked a ton of questions about the valves, slides, scratches, dings, dents and such and he was extremely helpful in testing everything. I told him I'd be in in a few days, but he was going to be off but gave all my concerns to Billy. Like Ben, I can't say enough good things about Billy. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by someone and I had asked to speak with Billy. Within seconds he was there. He took his time with me and let me play any of the horns to test them out. I had originally wanted to go in and order a new, more expensive horn, but that used horn that Ben described on the phone caught my attention. As I played it for a bit, tried some others too, Billy did not even rush me to make a sale, he said take your time and play around with it. I lost track of time and he made sure he kept checking in with me while he processed my return of the original trumpet. He could have easily tried to up-sale me into a new expensive trumpet, but he could see the chemistry that I had with this used one, which is the one I ended up buying. The sale was seamless. The experience in-store was phenomenal, more than what I could have asked for. So all in all Ben was more than helpful and went above and beyond over the phone and Billy was completely patient while I made my decision. Ben has called and emailed to follow up with me since then. I will definitely be making many trips back to Sam Ash. Thanks guys,

Best experience I've had buying a guitar online. Bought this Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul, which is a pretty high dollar item. They immediately emailed me and processed the guitar for shipping within hours. It was in my hands in just 2 days. It was packaged in a nice epiphone box, very incognito, and with plenty of bubble wrap. I couldn't be happier with the purchase. Will definitely do business with them from now on.

Hi guys. Andrew was very attentive and helpful to me - someone who was out of his element purchasing an expensive keyboard - for a church non-the-less. He could have ignored me being an "old man" with dumb questions, but he was very kind. Especially appreciated the extras he offered me (2 year extended warranty and the keyboard stand). I drove from Paducah - dropped someone off at the airport in addition to keyboard shopping. My town no longer has the music stores we had 40 years ago and the one I did go to ignored me even though I visited twice. Andrew - with the help of another gentleman even loaded the items into my car. I was interested in a Les Paul or SG with P-90's, but they didn't have any at the time I visited the store in Madison TN. September 2017. Instead, I purchased a 2017 Les Paul Studio Plus T Desert Burst. $1309.90 out the door. Of course the sales guy was all about "selling", but he catered to my desires and helped me find the guitar that I ended up buying. It was a good experience, just like it was in 2015 when I purchased a used Peavey Classic 30BT The other day - 15 Nov 17, I purchased an "open box" 2015 SG Special, with the Zebra '61 pickups and the G-force tuning system for $530.00 I ordered about 08:30 on Wednesday, and the guitar arrived about 10:30a on Friday. I could see some skin oils left on a couple spots that didn't get wiped down, but there isn't a scratch on this baby. And this thing plays like a bad dog! So far, Sam Ash company has treated me very well!

I talked to the store manager Jamie via the phone. I was looking for a specific fender that they didn't have in stock in Indianapolis where I live and he sent me a few pics of what they had in stock. He totally went above and beyond my expectations. They didn't have exactly what I wanted but he showed me a couple he thought might catch my eye after asking me some questions. I took the evening to decide and went with a beautiful roasted pine American Professional II Strat, he had Kevin (one of the employees) call me the next day to take care of the sale and shipping. My experience was great. Kevin was extremely helpful to me throughout the entire visit. I went in to buy some drum sticks and a tambourine. I also needed stands for my PA speakers, and Kevin was so helpful and explained the available options to me. He also called another store to order a tambourine in a different color than the one they had at his location, and he even called me the next day to follow up with me. Grade-A customer service!

I spoke with Shane on the phone about the Gibson J45 Deluxe Rosewood guitar I wanted. He checked to find there wasn't one to be had. I told him I would call him back if I couldn't locate one. I called store after store for 2 days and got the same story. One store said I could order it but it would be August or September before I would get it. I decided to go to Sam Ash. Upon arrival, I met Shane and he was very attentive. He showed me Taylor's, Martin's, and a J45 limited Walnut. They were all fine guitars. Then he show me a Gibson 60s J50 Original Antique. The minute I played the 1st chord, I knew. She's the one.

I like when stores have a personalized feel. The fact that he remembered me made my experience great. I am from the Chicago suburbs and this was my favorite store there. After being disappointed at Guitar Center I strolled over to Sam Ash and I was impressed to see the culture of the employees was the same as back home. I don't know if it is a culture that Sam Ash fosters within the company, but for now on I will only be coming here for my music needs. All employees are extremely friendly and helpful, most importantly they know when to leave you alone when you're just browsing. I brought a friend with and after also being disappointed at Guitar Center he said Sam Ash is the only place he'll be going to for now on.

It is Covid season and a lot of places were closed due to bad weather. They were open and really seemed to like their jobs! Good selection on a variety of items! I took it to the Nashville Store for help. They not only were very patient with me personally, but formulated a creative resolution above THEIR "legal requirements" as Purveyor and beyond MY expectations as Buyer. Stefan spent over 2 hours with me helping me decide on the best PA system for my needs. He is very professional, patient, and was able to answer all of my questions. Being a professional musician turned teacher I never gave much thought to the big chain stores until 5 years ago. I had made a few purchases here and there from Sam Ash in Madison. I decided to ask for help with some equipment for rent for our musical. I needed a lot more than I could afford. They had me write to Mr. Sam Ash himself, and he personally let me use whatever I needed. Now every dollar I spend on my classroom instruments, or my productions go through Stefan at Sam Ash. One of the true brick and mortar “good guys” left in the world. Patrick at the Nashville store was absolutely amazing! He talked to us on the phone for two weeks before we could come in (We live in Florida, and my sister lives 2 hours from Nashville.). He came in to help us on his day off. He spent two hours answering questions and talking to us and to my son who is 16 years old. He also plays saxophone and helped my son pick out his dream sax! He also helped us find many accessories that were perfect and books that he knew my son would like. Patrick was so polite, helpful, and kind. He opened up an instrument from the box and wasn't 100% satisfied with its quality so he took the instrument off the wall and got it for me because it was in the right shape. I called ahead to verify they had the different rolls of gaf tape I needed for a sound and lighting gig the next day. When I walked into the pro audio department, everything was already pulled and ready for me to check out. Great customer service. But the really impressive part was this ... we walked into the store at 8:53 pm. Only 7 minutes before closing on a Friday night. After the transaction, my son wanted to look at a new Fender model that he saw a review of online so we swing by the guitar department never intending to stay late. It’s a few minutes before closing on a Friday night. And as we walk into the glass room where the nice Fenders are hanging, the salesman encourages us to take one off the wall, plug in to any amp and try one out! Of course I wouldn’t have done that to them. We just wanted to look real quick. But this guy offers to make his evening longer and go past closing to serve us. We thank him. Look for 1 min and a few beauties and turn to leave. Again he kindly offers assistance if needed. Fascinating. Great customer service. And as we walk through the drum depeartment on the way out ... even the drum tech asks us if he can help us with anything. The store is a few seconds before closing ... and we’ve been kindly assisted and offered assistance from 3 different salesman and even the security guard was helpful on the way out.

Sam Ash has THE BEST Sales people and technicians. It's farther from my home than other guitar centers but it os ALWAYS worth the drive. Big plus... they have a NICE variety of equipment. I'm having a guitar modded but while browsing (you know how that goes), I found the perfect delay for my board, Red Witch Violetta delay. Never heard of it. My pedal board is packed nicely but I had one last space on my Voodoo power supply. The original price on the Violetta was whopping $179 but the Violetta's dimension is approximately 1x1x3 inches which is perfect. Found a reputable dealer online that has it for $109. Sam Ash honored the deal. BTW, the Red Witch Violetta is powerful. Its a keeper. Anyway, I like the Sam Ash on Gallatin. I can't believe Nick retired! Ps. The review below is from another day. Don't know why it never posted. Not only was it a great experience, it was fun. Nick was the person that helped me. I was looking to trade some bass gear for a guitar with p90 pickups. I had one guitar in mind but Nick suggested I try a few others and I’m glad I did. He explained the variations in pickup design in a way I could clearly understand. The Gibson Les Paul JR not only caught my eye, but my ears as well and I’m super happy. He also upgraded the gig bag to a really nice case for it which I really appreciated. The whole experience was super. Sam Ash is about 40 minutes away from my home. There are guitar stores that are closer to where I live but because of the experience I had at Sam Ash I’m going to check there first when I need gear.

It has been hit or miss. I've been in a few times and while I haven't had a particularly bad experience, I haven't had a great one, either. Purchased both my bass and amp here and I am quite happy with each. I was recommended a tuner at the register, and after getting home and opening it, I realized it was definitely a sales push item. I returned it and the process went ok, just took nearly 10 minutes, which I can understand on a couple thousand dollars of gear, but it seemed a bit excessive for an 18 dollar tuner. The staff seemed a little less than enthusiastic most of the time, but at the same time, I haven't had anyone ever be rude or dismissive. While I think that there is definite room for improvement with this store, it is the best music store in the area. They have the widest selection and typically leave you alone to mess around with something and look as you please, unlike other local stores I've been into where the sales staff is constantly lurking over your shoulder.

While I don't feel everything was fully explained to me about Sam Ash's layaway policy and the guitar I put on layaway was sold before I could pay it off, they had a great selection and I felt that the guitar I took home was a much better choice for me than what I originally wanted. I had a Gibson SG Standard on layaway that would have cost me almost $1500, but since they had already sold the exact one I ordered, I finished my purchase of a Gibson Les Paul Tribute. First, David Weintraub was so incredibly helpful and I feel like if I were running this business I would want David to work for me. He was the person who I chatted with (and talked on the phone as well) on the web site and he quickly addressed all my questions and was just extremely helpful. I made the sale with David and went to the store to pick up my guitar. The manager there was very, very annoyed about dealing with an online order. (I only spoke to a sales rep in the guitar room and hadn’t even talked to this manager yet). He was huffing and puffing and making it clear that he was extremely put out. He finally got the paperwork straightened out (about a half hour) handed me the guitar and out the door he went. I am realistic as we all have bad days right? I ended up having a structural problem with the guitar and contacted David online and he was, once again, very very helpful. He told me to bring the guitar back and a new one will be mailed to me in a few days (they didn’t have another one in stock) Sounds like a plan to me. I went back to the same store in Madison TN and talked to the rep in the guitar room and the same manager came in after about 10 minutes. He once again started with the huffing and puffing and really making it known how irritated he was. After calling David for clarification I handed the phone to the manager and he told me to have David call him at the store, which David did right away. After a brief phone chat with David the manager was working the register and acting very frustrated and annoyed. The manager told me the web site and the store were not connected, OK?After about 15 minutes he tears the receipt off of the register and tells me it’s on it was on the way and he couldn’t get out of the room fast enough. I felt like a fire that needed to be put out instead of a customer that needed assistance. I am a mild mannered polite person and can assure you that I did nothing to provoke this behavior and don’t believe I said more than a few words to him at all. My new guitar is being sent to me and I hope to get it in a few days. I was going to get a few sets of strings and look at the new gear but honestly I couldn’t wait to get out of there. That was the last time that I will set foot in that store. I believe that this was a personnel problem and not a Sam Ash problem. Thank you again to David Weintraub (On the web site) who was just a pleasure to deal with.

Large music store, full of pretty much whatever you need to make music. This is a true musical instrument, recording, and PA supermarket. If you want to get your hands on a piece of musical gear and actually try before you buy, this is your place. Excellent prices and generally good, prompt service - although you may need to approach someone to ask for assistance. That's not a knock, btw. I would prefer to not be assaulted by aggressive sales people, and they are generally more sales consultants here than in-your-face, pushy sales people. Surprisingly good selection of boutique guitar pedals.

Samash isn't a bad option for a guitar shop in the Music City area. They have a decent selection of guitars and amps. They're bass selection isn't the greatest and the bass amp section is pitiful. They do have a good selection of standard effects pedals and some boutique stuff. Dont bother with the repair shop though. The nut replacement I had brought in took nearly a month and was nearly unplayable afterwords.

He allowed me to play several of the new Taylors as I was loo king for a dreadnought. I was very, very disappointed, like always, with the Electric Guitar department. There is no way to play any Gibson or Fender guitars over $500. I was looking for one of the new Fender Player series and they are all on the wall over the watchful eye of the bearded salesperson who has been with you for years. He is a formidable presence and is visibly irritated if you play something and do not buy it. I have purchased guitars and other items worth $4000 from your store and online but I hate to play items in that department because of the intimidation. I asked once to play a Gibson 335 to compare with a Dot once and he was not happy. It helped me to see the difference betwen the 2 guitars but it was at a cost of feeling uncomfortable. It took me a few years to get the bravery to pull the trigger and finally invest $3500 in one and I did, but I refused to go back to Sam Ash for it. This last visit made me realize it not worth going back anymore after all these years since the nicer mid-level guitars (only Squires or other comparable guitars were available) are now on the wall of intimidation. It is not worth it. Speaking for myself, I believe it is true when the new CEO of Gibson said that 'we have to make good guitars accessible to the newer generation of players'. It may take a few visits for a future player to muster up the courage to purchase a nicer Gibson Studio or Fender Player series, but each time they touch the guitar it is an investment to your benefit when they are ready to pull the trigger. I went down the street to Guitar Center and made my purchase for my new guitar pickups and sat and played several Fender Player series to help me decide. I got nothing but encouragement.

It was just a nice relaxing experience. He even gave me a few pointers as I was trying out the stock. I left the store with the guitar I came for, a mahogony Taylor GS Mini, and wishing I lived closer so I could visit Sam Ash more often.

I used to love this Sam Ash store. Over the years, my family has spent well over $10K in this store alone on instruments and gear including speakers, yamaha piano/keyboard, 5 guitars, microphones, drums and amps. On my last visit, I came in to pick up a guitar that my husband and I had put on layaway for my daughter. I was greeted by what seemed like a disgruntled employee (big guy with sideburns and hair to his shoulders. He was very abrupt with me and when I told him I was there to pick up a guitar that was on layaway for my daughter, he looked around frantically, then left me standing there. He never returned. Another man came up and asked what I was waiting for...I told him that I needed to pay for my daughter's guitar that had been on layaway, and that another employee had gone looking for it, but it was right behind the counter a few feet away. The man picked it up and as I grabbed a few extra items, he began to ring the guitar up. I told him that the last employee who helped my husband and I, told me that he would give me the 20% discount from the coupon that was going to expire that day (which is why we came in to pay it off then). He asked for the coupon and I told him that the other employee told me that I didn't have to bring it in, since they had one, and they could see that I had made several purchases in the past and was on their mailing list for the coupons. This was apparently a problem and he subsequently had to call his GM to the counter to help take the 20% off. When the GM arrived and asked me for my coupon, I explained to him that the last person who helped me that week (I gave his name but will omit it here) told me he would give me the discount without the coupon. He looked confused, so I asked him if he wanted me to go home and print one. I also explained that I am on the mailing list, so I received coupons in the mail and online, but this was a compulsive purchase we had made after realizing there was a coupon. He stammered a bit and looked kind of annoyed and stated that they really weren't suppose to give a discount without the paper coupon. Then, as if by magic, he pushed a few buttons on the keyboard and PRESTO! he gave me the discount, easy as pie! However, when I got home and reviewed my receipt, I discovered that the manager had tacked on a two year warranty that covers broken strings, tune ups, etc. with totaled about $36.00....bringing my actual discount to about 10% ....I was extremely irritated by this, but decided that I will be using it frequently so as to get every last penny out of it. Although this was the first bad experience I've ever had with Sam Ash, it will be the last. Because of the attitude of the GM and certain employees, I will never darken their doorway again to purchase a single item...not even a pick....but you can bet I'll squeeze every last dime out of my new, handy dandy warrantee. Can't wait til I need a new guitar....I've heard the Argil's Music Store in Hendersonville is great, and Guitar Center in Nashville is phenomenal....looking forward to taking my business ELSEWHERE.

Professional treatment by "Scot" (?) from the minute I walked in to have my Alto sax fixed! He also did a computer search for me to find a "fake book" I needed. He know his stuff, and readily shares it with your customers. One complaint was the technicians who worked on the sax, had it for 3 weeks!
