This past weekend, my husband and I spent Saturday building a guitar! We got to sand, stain, install electronics, string, assemble and take home our own guitar (and some adorable Christmas ornaments) all in one day. Josh even let me wear his Kenny Chesney apron. 🤣 It was a super fun experience and would make an amazing gift for any musician! This is a MUST DO in Nashville!

Amazingly fun day! The parts felt nice, the instructions were clear, the host was incredibly welcoming, and best of all got a brand new guitar at the end :D

My wife got me the 8 hour electric guitar build for our 5th wedding anniversary. I was a little apprehensive, not really being a guitar player, and not knowing exactly what I was walking into. I also went from loving woodwork about 20 years ago, to doing basically none...for 20 years...it's always a little intimidating playing around in a world you don't spend a lot of time in right?
Josh Hurst, our instructor, was amazingly knowledgeable, super accommodating, and incredibly patient as well. I suffered a horrible bout of COVID-PNEUMONIA back in December of 21, and am still suffering from some long COVID Issues (Brain fog, cognitive and memory/focus issues). Josh didn't know all that when we met, but I imagine noticed it as we went lol.
All that being said, it was a great time. Any goofy preconceptions or apprehension or worries I had about not being a guitar player or whether I'd comfortable with various woodworking activities went away from lesson 1. Josh walked us through step by step both via discussion and demonstration, and follow up while we were working as well.
Guitar materials are top notch, Josh is a self proclaimed worst salesman ever, but offers no pressure upgrades to almost every part of your guitar along the way, from the body and neck to the pick guard.
Lunch was good, conversation was fun, and I ended up with a new friend or 2 in Nashville, and a VERY NICE fully functional electric guitar.

Jeremy and Josh made this an incredible experience for us. They walked us through every step and made it fun! Highly recommend them if you want a unique and ultra cool experience.

The coolest experience ever! I did this for my husband for his birthday, and we had so much fun. Thank you Josh Hurst! Your knowledge of guitar building is top notch.

Great experience for my 15 year old daughter and me. She plays the acoustic guitar and wanted to build an electric guitar as her 10th Grade Personal Project. This workshop ticked all the boxes. It was educational, interesting, fun, all hands-on and we walked out of there with a fully functioning electrical guitar. Josh is an excellent host and teacher. The day was enjoyable from start to finish. We enjoyed meeting the other people that came to build guitars – some that play, some that collected and some that don’t play at all. All in all, an excellent way to spend a Saturday.

Oh my Gosh! I had so much fun. I don't have a creative bone in my body but I still made some so Beautiful. Josh was awesome and has the patience of a Saint. You might think it's like coloring by numbers, but it's so much more. You do the rough and fine sanding then pick your color. You learn how to assemble the guitar and also set up your Guitar. I hope to do another one at some point. It would be a team building session for you and your coworkers. It was worth it to me for the knowledge of how to set up the guitar.

I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this workshop. The staining and finishing process is a lot of fun and guarantees that your guitar is unique. The knowledge I gained from the assembly process was even better. I've owned and played electric guitars for 15 years but I've always been too intimidated to change any of the setups on my own. After this class I can't wait to make adjustments to my other instruments. I look forward to the new body styles and hope to work on another guitar here again.

This place is awesome. Josh was great. I am very happy with the guitar I built. I would recommend this to anyone who loves guitar or just wants to see how they are built. My father in law, who does not play guitar went with me, but had a great time also. I would recommend this to anyone. Fyi I live in Tulsa and traveled to Nashville and it was worth the trip.

The guitar build workshop was an absolute blast! The staff here are exceedingly friendly and made everyone feel welcome and at home during the entire experience. The hands-on 'guided learning' results in exceptional quality guitars that play great straight off the workbench. Great quality materials are used throughout, right down to the capacitors in the wiring harness. Loved the color selection and the ability to 'try before you apply' the body stains. Almost limitless color combinations available, and there are some great samples available to use for design inspiration. Looking forward to seeing the build options evolve over time - we will definitely be back!

This was very educational and personable experience. The creations here are one of a kind and Josh is meticulous with his teaching. Can't wait to go back and do another one.

Fantastic gem in Nashville. Go build a guitar. It's so cool, it's so hip, it's (more than) alright, it's so groovy, it's outta sight... Afterwards, you're in spitting distance to some really good Nashville restaurants and other attractions. Go make a day of it. You'll have a good time.

Highlight of our Nashville Trip!
On a recent family trip to Nashville my son-in-law found the Guitar Build Workshop on-line. He and I decided to go together. What an experience! Our host was great and the facility was first class. We actually built our own guitars...actively finishing the wood, picking the colors and painting it, installing the electronics and all the parts & pieces, all adjustments done ourselves. All the expertise was there and our instructor was a great guy. It was the most enjoyable day and I came out with an "original" guitar of my own. The quality is excellent and the sound is great. Thanks for everything!

I built a guitar at the Guitar Build Workshop recently and it was an awesome experience! I learned so much, Josh is very patient and helpful, but let's you do the work. I hope to be able to return and build another guitar in the future - I learned so much about how to set up my guitar, I can't recommend this enough for someone who plays or wants to - like me - just build a guitar because I thought it would be cool - and it was!!

Went here with my dad and nephew for a weekend trip. We knew nothing about making guitars other than they were made of wood and had strings. Staff walked us all through the whole process. Left with three nice looking, playable guitars. Awesome experience!!

The lessons learned in the class would be worth the money but on top of that the guitar you are left with is excellent in terms of both the electronics and the playability. In our class I accidentally forgot my sunglasses and the instructor offered to come and meet me on his own time to return them. Total class act. If you want a great experience paired with a great guitar sign up for this workshop!

My husband and I just got done building our guitars there and it was an amazing experience! The instructor was excellent at teaching us and the other students were great. It will definitely be a memory that stays with me for a long time!

I had been interested in GBW for over a year, and it was well worth the wait! I made a bass guitar and the class was an amazing experience! On top of it all, the bass guitar is great quality, so it is definitely worth the price! I would recommend this to anybody who is interested in playing guitar or just having a lot of fun while getting to make and keep your own guitar.

I had a great time and learned a lot about finishing and setting up an electric guitar. I will return in the future when more workshops are offered. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. Everyone at the guitar build workshop is super friendly and has a great attitude!

Would be 4 but Josh begged 😉
No but seriously. One of the best birthday presents ever. The guys that run it really know there stuff. So if you're a nerd they got you. But if you just wanna do something with a bunch of people that is creative and technical and fun this is a solid choice.

Great experience. Very knowledgeable staff. It’s great to have the opportunity to build your own, one of a kind, instrument. Very happy with my results.
