Alex is the man! I took my '78 Ibanez Musician into Alex to be set up and was blown away by the quality of his work. When I first got the guitar back, I could not put it down for hours. After a couple months of playing, I noticed a couple of personal tweaks I wanted to make with the action to suite my playing style and Alex was more than happy to make the adjustments on the spot. This is a must for anyone looking to make their guitar play and sound 10x better. Will be taking all future guitars I buy to Alex for sure!

Alex is a pro. If you have any guitar problems he will take care of you. His prices are reasonable and his work is done with a personal touch. He strives to make sure you're completely satisfied.
He brought my father's 73 year old Gibson acoustic back from the brink. Now it plays and sounds better than anything you'll find in the store.
You will not be disappointed.

Brought my mandolin to Alex to be set up. I couldn't be happier. He did more than what I had expected and all for an amazing price! I am so happy with his work; I will tell everyone I know who plays a stringed instrument to go to him.

Alex was everything I was hoping for in a luthier. Every other MKE guitar shop I've gone to over the last 15 years has treated me like an inconvenience, but Alex gave me his complete attention, educated me and took time to get to know me and my playing style. While others boast about their "open dialogue" with their customers, this was the first time I've received that. Alex kept me informed every step of the way. He also went way above and beyond and got my guitar back and playing the same day so I could continue recording. He's a class act and has earned a customer for life.

I will take my instruments to no other person. Alex was awesome! I couldn't get the intonation right on my brand new Epiphone EB-0. I thought it was a lost cause. Alex had me in and out in a half-hour. If anyone owns an Epiphone or Gibson then you know the problems they have and to do what Alex did was no easy task. Forever grateful and a customer for life.

Man, where do I start? This guy is a serious luthier. I was in a pinch for time coming up from Chicago and he was able to rewire the pickups, attach the neck, redrill tuner holes for new tuners and put together and set-up this bad boy - which plays amazing! He was just as excited about this guitar as I was. Thanks again! It plays like a dream!

Milwaukee Lutherie has a phenomenal business, one I would say is the best store in MKE. They did a really nice job on my guitar and I paid a perfect price for what I needed done. Milwaukee Lutherie really knows how to take an instrument and make it the finest. The business was easy to contact, easy to find, and very helpful. Go to this store and you won't regret it!

The only luthier I will go to, and the only one I have been too for at least 5 years. He's always honest, and he always makes time to explain just what is wrong and what needs to be done. I value his expert opinion in every major guitar related purchase I make. Not only a top notch luthier, but a great guy to boot.

Was in town for a short time on tour and Alex got me in almost immediately, fixed an electrical issue inside my guitar and did a few adjustments quickly and for a fair price.
Nice dude and good work.

Alex recently took my 30's Gibson L-00 and brought it back to life with a neck reset, new bone saddle and overall attention to detail setup (after sitting under a bed for 50 years... ) He has been working on my guitars for 10 years, wouldnt go with anyone else! Honest pricing, quick turnaround, superb quality work.

I just received my Warmoth Gecko5 Wide back from Alex and I could not be happier. It plays like a dream and it will never leave the nest. I have some projects that I will seek him again to add the finishing touches.

Alex did an incredible set up for me on my guitar, and went above and beyond to help me get it right. Expert work with a super fast turnaround.

Alex did a terrific job of carefully repairing very expensive heirloom acoustics to raise the nut a touch to get rid of fret buzz. All three fixes worked flawlessly and done at very fair prices. Alex connects with world class luthiers and is very focused on being a great Luthier. Whether you have “regular” or “one of a kind” stringed instruments, would highly recommend getting them to Alex. You will be amazed at the results like I was!

A little over 10 years ago, my wife had surprised me with my dream guitar... a Martin HD-28. She had purchased it online, sight unseen, something I'd never dream of doing myself. I've always tried out every guitar I've ever bought, and might go through 5 or 6 until I found the right one. Needless, to say, I was quite happy with my wife's choice, however, I was very disappointed in this particular guitar. It had a dull tone, fret buzz on the upper frets, and lousy sustain. Furthermore, the guitar would vibrate unpleasantly like the feeling you get in your arms when you miss the sweet spot on a golf ball as you shank it. This wasn't at all what I recalled from having played Martin HD-28s previously.
I tinkered with it endlessly, and eventully took it in to a local luthier who told me I had a humidity problem. He had the guitar humidified, and I have to admit, there was a slight improvement, but in no way was my guitar close to sounding or feeling like I expected.
Enter, Alex. An acquaintenance of mine had heard good things about him, so I thought, what the heck, I have nothing to lose. I contacted Alex and dropped off my guitar. He followed up in an email to let me know that my guitar was not sounding bad, however it just needed several relatively minor fixes. Bummer, I thought, I'll probably not even notice any difference. Boy, was I wrong.
When it was done, Alex kindly agreed to meet my wife to hand off the guitar and settle the transaction (due to my chaotic schedule, he had offered to pick up or drop off the guitar at my home, however, I didn't want to incovenience him).
When I first layed my eyes on my guitar, I was already blown away! He had it beautifully polished and oiled to the extent that it didn't even look like the guitar I dropped off. The best part came when I started playing. Wow, I had no idea my Martin could ever sound and feel like this. The fret buzz was gone and the tone had improved dramatically. I finally had sustain as well. The notes sounded absolutely brilliant. Finally, after more than 10 years, I finally have the Martin HD-28 that I always wanted! I now know where to have my guitars serviced and I don't have to look any more.

I recently bought a vintage (and beat to death) acoustic guitar that needed fret leveling, a new saddle, and nut work. The frets were dented and barely existent; the saddle was shimmed and leaning, and the grooves in the nut were far too deep.
Overcoming my time tested distrust of guitar luthiers, I reached out to Milwaukee Lutherie in hopes that my dire situation could be remedied.
After picking up my guitar the other day, I can haply say that the workmanship and love put into my instrument was clearly evident.
I now have a guitar that plays easily and buzz free all the way down the neck. Oddly, it even smells better.
Killer workmanship and killer prices. Trust this luthier with your fretted instruments.

Recommended by a family member. Recently bought a vintage bass, and wanted a "professional" opinion as to condition, needed repairs, etc. Alex spent an hour checking it out, as well as tweaking intonation, etc. Bottom line: I was prepared to spend a significant amount of $$ bringing the bass "back to life", and wouldn't have hesitated. Alex determined what I really expected to do with the bass (not a "wall hanger" but not a "gig" player either) and helped me see that it was in fine condition for that use! (Essentially, he talked himself out of work & $$!). Won't hesitate to recommend/use/visit Milwaukee Lutherie again as needed! Superior attitude, awesome service, plus he's a really nice guy!
